Una domanda che mi fanno spesso. Non mi interessano le critiche, penso solo a fare bene e dare il massimo. Per il futuro non lo so, non dovete fare questa domanda a me. C’è chi dice che dovevo andare via in passato o che andrò via. Io qui sto bene, sto veramente bene. Ho voluto io tornare qui. Finché posso dare una mano lo farò, poi vedremo, non so dire quello che succederà.
Ti dà fastidio sentir parlare di approcci sbagliati della Lazio? Perché a volte si parte male?
Non è questione di approccio sbagliato, la nostra difficoltà è reagire al momento negativo. Con la Roma e con la Fiorentina abbiamo preso due gol subito, può succedere di partire male ma serve la forza mentale per essere dentro la gara e ripartire. In questo senso dobbiamo crescere.
Domanda al contrario: non si parla troppo poco di te come punto di forza della Lazio?
Meglio, così posso lavorare tranquillamente. Non mi piace stare al centro dell’attenzione, qui o altrove ho sempre cercato di lavorare bene e di dare il massimo. I risultati aiutano a far parlare bene, il primo anno abbiamo fatto bene a livello difensivo. Ora si parla dei giovani, è giusto, tanti stanno crescendo bene. Va bene così. Io devo solo lavorare per la squadra e dare tutto me stesso.
La Lazio può ripetere una stagione come quella di due anni fa?
Dipende da noi, dobbiamo avere l’ambizione di vincere ogni partita. Vogliamo crescere, vincere aiuta a vincere, sappiamo che si può fare qualcosa di importante, non dobbiamo sederci e continuare a lavorare. Anche domani sarà importante come sfida da giocare, siamo pochi ma dobbiamo dare tutto, vogliamo arrivare primi e vincere tutto ciò che si può.

Valverde: “A veces que te sacudan un poco viene bien para asentarse”
Bilbao, 25 ene (EFE).- El entrenador del Athletic Club, Ernesto Valverde, considera que recibir reveses como el del miércoles en Liga Europa en Estambul, un 4-1 ante el Besiktas, “viene bien para asentarse” a los equipos que, como el suyo esta temporada, llevan una destacada trayectoria de juego y de resultados.
“Cuando vas ganando parece que es una fabrica de hacer churros, pero no. Ganar es difícil, muy difícil. Lo que sí queremos hacer es que valga la derrota, que nos ayude a dar un paso y ver que ganar es difícil”, resumió Valverde la dimensión de una derrota clara pero que no ha cambiado para nada el panorama del Athletic en la competición europea.
En ese sentido, aseguró que a su equipo le ve “bien”. “Es verdad que el Besiktas fue mejor que nosotros, perdimos y no tenemos nada que objetar. Pero tenemos que continuar porque, a pesar de perder ese partido nos hemos quedado en la misma situación”, subrayó, sobre la tercera plaza que ocupa su equipo en la Liga Europa, empatado con un Eintracht Fráncfort que le supera por mejor diferencia de goles.
“Los del Besiktas también se estaban jugando mucho, tienen unos delanteros extraordinarios y había 55.000 allí. Lo que nos pasó no es nada que no les pase a otros equipos. El otro día perdimos como pierden todos los equipos, porque ganar siempre es imposible. No difícil, sino imposible”, reflexionó sobre una derrota asumible y que quizás haya hecho en Bilbao más daño del esperado.
“Somos cuartos en liga y el jueves, aunque ya estamos clasificados, podemos certificar saltarnos un eliminatoria”, reivindicó a su equipo.
Al respecto, trasladó esa dificultad al partido de mañana ante un Leganés “en una dinámica positiva” en la que “ganaron al Atlético de Madrid, que estaba en racha increíble”, y “también al Barcelona” a domicilio.
“Es un equipo fuerte, solidario y con un buen entrenador que se centra en una base defensiva y tiene jugadores adelante que pueden hacer daño. Y además sigue en Copa. Le veo bien, sobre todo en este tramo que ya es importante para todo. Estamos pasando el duro invierno y a ver como llegamos a la primavera. Es un partido difícil que tenemos que valorar en su justa medida”, avisó.
Valverde se congratuló de tener “cuatro días” de descanso para el partido de mañana tras jugar “tres partidos en seis días”, se congratuló del regreso de Oihan Sancet a la convocatoria -“es importante”, destacó- y lamentó las bajas de Iñigo Ruiz de Galarreta y Álvaro Djaló. En especial la del centrocampista, capital y pieza clave en su puesto.
Ambos futbolistas fueron dos en los que personalizó en una comparecencia en la que aseguró que ve “bien” a Yuri Berchiche y participando “en partidos en los que nos jugamos cosas” a un Nico Serrano al que quiere en la plantilla a pesar de que habla de la posibilidad de salir cedido.
“Su situación es la de los demás. Mañana tenemos un partido y tenemos que ganar. Viene de jugar en partidos importantes (ante Barcelona, Osasuna y Besiktas) y lo más importante somos nosotros”, zanjó.
Por último, al respecto del campeonato liguero, en el que el Athletic es cuarto empatado a puntos (39) con el Barcelona pero con siete y cinco puntos de desventaja respecto al líder Real Madrid y el Atlético de Madrid, dijo: “yo he ganado la liga, dos ligas, y si vas a los datos ves que para ganar la liga hay que sumar 85 puntos o más”.
