With that, let’s dive into the AP Poll Top 25 rankings following Week 13 of the season.
Auburn improved to 20-1 on the season with a 92-82 win over Ole Miss Saturday. It was another ranked win under their belt.
Johni Broome put up 20 points, 12 rebounds and four assists in this one. Chad Baker-Mazara added 18 points, two rebounds and three assists. Three other players put up double-figures.
© Zachary Taft-Imagn Images Duke raced out to a 22 point lead in the first half en route to an 87-70 win over rival North Carolina. The Blue Devils are now 19-2 on the season.
Kon Kneuppel put up 22 points, five rebounds and five assists. Cooper Flagg added 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Duke chases the top of the college basketball mountain this season.
Alabama kept it rolling with a 90-69 win over Georgia, dominating their SEC foe. The Crimson Tide are now 19-3 on the season.
Mark Sears put up 20 points, five rebounds and six assists. Grant Nelson added a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.

Amy Kontras | USA TODAY Sports A tough loss for Houston Saturday, 82-81, to Texas Tech and the Cougars fell to 17-4 on the season. A couple of free throws were the difference in the final seconds of overtime.
LJ Cryer put up 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. J’wan Roberts added 18 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the hard fought loss.
Florida couldn’t replicate its domination of Tennessee this past weekend. Florida put up just 44 points in a 20-point loss.
Walter Clayton Jr. put up 10 points and two rebounds as the only player in double figures. Florida is back in action Tuesday night when they host Vanderbilt.
Purdue has risen once again throughout the top 10. The Boilermakers beat in-state foe Indiana 81-76 to improve to 17-5 on the season.
Braden Smith put up 24 points, one rebound and seven assists. Trey Kaufman-Renn added 23 points, four rebounds and one assist.
(Reese Strickland | Imagn Images) Iowa State got smacked in the face this weekend to Big 12 foe Kansas State, which is still under .500 on the season. It was only the fourth loss of the season for the Cyclones.
Tamin Lipsey put up 20 points, one rebounds and three assists. Curtis Jones added 14 points, six rebounds and one assist.
This one was a surprise right? Michigan State fell to USC on the road 70-64 and the Spartans suffered just their third loss of the season.
Only two players put up double figures in this one. Jeremy Fears Jr. had 12 points, two rebounds and six assists while Jaden Akins had 11 points, four rebounds and two assists.
The Aggies improved to 17-5 on the season with a 76-72 win over South Carolina on the road. After racing out to an eight-point lead in the first half, A&M hung on.
Wade Taylor IV had 25 points, two rebounds and two assists in the win. Henry Coleman III added 12 points, eight rebounds and one assist.

Auburn, Duke remain 1-2 atop latest AP Top 25 men’s poll
Auburn and Duke remain 1-2 atop The Associated Press Top 25 men’s college basketball poll for the third straight week, while Maryland is back in the rankings for the first time in nearly two years.
Bruce Pearl’s Tigers (20-1) held the No. 1 ranking for the fourth consecutive week in Monday’s poll and the third in a row as the unanimous choice. Auburn has claimed 246 of 248 first-place votes over the past month while remaining unbeaten in a rugged Southeastern Conference with nine ranked teams.
Auburn’s only loss came to Jon Scheyer’s Blue Devils (19-2), who enter the week with the nation’s longest winning streak at 15 games after rolling past rival North Carolina.
The two teams offered the only stability after 15 teams in last week’s AP Top 25 lost last week, with three of those losing twice.
The top tier
Alabama moved up a spot to No. 3, followed by Tennessee jumping four spots to No. 4 in an SEC-heavy top tier. Houston climbed one spot to No. 5 despite an overtime loss to now-No. 13 Texas Tech to end a 33-game home winning streak.
Florida was next at No. 6, followed by Purdue, Iowa State, Michigan State and Texas A&M to round out the top 10.
Rising
Texas Tech (17-4) had the biggest jump among last week’s ranked teams, rising nine spots to 13th after beating TCU at home and then beating the Cougars despite coach Grant McCasland and forward JT Toppin being ejected early.
Two-time reigning national champion UConn climbed six spots to No. 19 after winning at Marquette, while Missouri jumped five spots to No. 15 after beating Mississippi State.
In all, 10 teams moved up from their positions last week. That included Rick Pitino’s St. John’s team rising three spots to No. 12, the highest ranking for the program since finishing the 1999-2000 season at No. 9.
Sliding
Mississippi State had the week’s biggest tumble, falling eight spots to No. 22 after home losses to Alabama and Missouri. Iowa State joined the Bulldogs in a two-loss week, falling five spots after losses to Arizona and Kansas State.
No. 16 Kansas and No. 23 Illinois also fell five spots, pushing the list of sliding teams to 10.
Welcome
No. 18 Maryland, No. 20 Arizona and No. 24 Michigan were the week’s three new additions.
Kevin Willard’s Terrapins (17-5) jumped into the poll at No. 18 after pushing its winning streak to four games, a stretch that includes winning at then-No. 17 Illinois and beating then-No. 17 Wisconsin at home last week.
That gave Maryland its first poll ranking in nearly two years, the last coming with a week at No. 21 in late February 2023.
Arizona (15-6) returned to the poll for the first time since November. The Wildcats opened the year at No. 10 and peaked at ninth, but they’re back in after winning 11 of 12 — including against Iowa State after Caleb Love hit a halfcourt shot to force overtime.
Michigan (16-5) has two previous stints in the poll this season, peaking at No. 14 in early December.
Farewell (for now)
Oregon was one of the three departures from this week’s poll, falling out from No. 16 after being one of the trio to lose twice last week by falling at UCLA and at home to Nebraska. Louisville (No. 21) and Vanderbilt (No. 24) also fell out after losses to unranked foes.
Conference watch
The SEC had at least nine teams in the poll for the seventh straight week, including three weeks with 10 teams to make up 40% of the poll. The SEC has also had at least half of the top 10 eight times in nine weeks, peaking at six teams on Jan. 6. No other league has had more than six ranked teams in any week this season.
Maryland’s arrival pushed the Big Ten to six ranked teams, followed by the Big 12 with five and the Big East with three. The Atlantic Coast and American Athletic conferences each had one.
Auburn and Duke continue to dominate the college basketball scene as they hold onto the top two spots in the latest AP Top 25 men’s poll. The Tigers and Blue Devils have been consistently impressive throughout the season, and their strong performances have solidified their positions at the top of the rankings.Auburn, led by standout players like Jabari Smith Jr. and Walker Kessler, has been on a tear with an impressive record and key victories over top teams. The Tigers have shown their ability to compete with the best and are poised to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
Duke, with a talented roster featuring Paolo Banchero and Wendell Moore Jr., has also been a force to be reckoned with. The Blue Devils have been dominant in conference play and have proven themselves as a legitimate title contender.
As the regular season winds down and March Madness approaches, all eyes will be on Auburn and Duke as they look to maintain their positions at the top of the rankings and make a run for the national championship. Stay tuned for more exciting basketball action from these powerhouse teams.

Coaches Poll Top 25 College Basketball Rankings released after Week 13
The USA TODAY Coaches Poll Top 25 has been updated following a superb thirteenth week for the 2024-2025 men’s college basketball season.
With conferences showdowns raging on, the schedule continues to provide awesome matchups and intriguing results. Many of the top teams in the country were still able to stamp their mark on the week, while others fell in the process, leading to some serious changes throughout the Top 25.
With that in mind, the sport’s brightest coaching minds put their brains together to come up with some rankings after Week 13. Check out the Top 25 below, and see if your team made the cut as the season progresses.
Auburn advanced to 20-1 over the past week. They defeated LSU on Wednesday, and followed that up with a win over Ole Miss on Saturday, furthering their resume as the best team in the nation.
The Tigers have two games this week, but one will be an intense conference battle. They’re facing Florida on Saturday afternoon, but before that a clash with Oklahoma is on the slate for Tuesday.
© Zachary Taft-Imagn Images Duke took care of business against their top rival over the weekend. Kon Knueppel led the way with 22 points, as they sent North Carolina home with a 17-point loss on Saturday.
At 19-2, the Blue Devils are hoping to keep the good times rolling this week. They’ll travel to face Syracuse on Wednesday, and then a trip to Clemson is on the docket for this weekend.
Alabama defeated Georgia by 21 on Saturday. That’s something football fans would love to see the Crimson Tide do over and over again when they play the Bulldogs, but it was the basketball team that took care of business this time around.
At 19-3, Alabama has become one of the top teams in the country, truly elevating their game. They’ll travel to face Arkansas on Saturday evening next.
Tennessee had an uneven week. First, they fell to Kentucky last Tuesday by five, but then they beat Florida by double digits over the weekend, which was huge for their psyche.
At 18-4, the Volunteers have two games this week. Missouri is on the docket for Wednesday, and then they’ll take on Oklahoma over the weekend.
© Tim Heitman Houston was on a roll, especially after defeating West Virginia on Wednesday. However, it all came to a halt over the weekend, as Texas Tech defeated the Cougars by one in overtime on Saturday.
They’ll have two chances to get back on track this week. Houston will face Oklahoma State on Tuesday, followed by a clash with Colorado this coming Saturday.
It was a disappointing weekend for Florida. They’d been on a solid run, but a trip to Knoxville didn’t end well for them, as the Gators fell by 20 to Tennessee.
There’s no rest for the weary though. Florida will face Vanderbilt on Tuesday, and then travel to take on No. 1 Auburn on Saturday.
Purdue continued their winning ways this past week. The Boilermakers defeated Indiana over the weekend, which strengthened their resume.
Iowa and USC will be their opponents this week. Purdue will be hoping to notch their eighteenth and nineteenth wins of the season in the process.
Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images A brutal week took place for Iowa State. The Cyclones fell to 17-4, which doesn’t sound too bad, but they’re on a two-game losing streak, after Arizona and Kansas State defeated them.
It won’t get any easier for them this week though. Iowa State faces Kansas on Monday, and then they’ll welcome TCU to town on Saturday.
Michigan State suffered their third loss of the season over the weekend. A West Coast trip didn’t end well for them, as USC defeated the Spartans by six.
Perhaps they’ll be able to get back on the winning side this week. UCLA and Oregon will be their opponents, as Michigan State looks to get back on track.
St. John’s is firing on all cylinders at the moment. The Big East program defeated Providence by two over the weekend, moving to 19-3 on the season and continuing their ascent.
The Red Storm have two massive games this week. First, they’ll battle Marquette on Tuesday, and then they’ll face Connecticut on Friday. It could be a legendary week, or a disappointing one — it’ll be up to Rick Pitino to have his team ready for the challenge.

Over the past several months, a handful of contenders have emerged as the Big Ten’s best hopes for its first men’s basketball national championship team since 2000.
The program that won that now-25-year-old title, Michigan State, is one of them, with a surprising 18-3 record. Purdue isn’t quite where it was last season with Zach Edey, but it’s not terribly far off with Braden Smith leading the way. Wisconsin, with a potent and shockingly fast-paced offense, is excelling. Newcomers Oregon and UCLA have turned heads. Few teams in the country are playing better than Maryland right now. And Michigan, behind a pair of versatile 7-footers, has impressed in its first season under Dusty May.
The past week included some notable results that shape both the conference and national landscape. Tom Izzo’s Spartans saw their 13-game win streak come to an end in a loss at USC. Maryland knocked off Wisconsin 76-58. UCLA blew out Oregon 78-52. Purdue held off archrival Indiana 81-76.

#Big #Ten #updated #Coaches #Poll #TopWomen’s College Basketball Rankings: AP Poll Top 25 updated to start February
February is here and with that the women’s college basketball season is entering one of the most important periods of the regular season as conference championship races heat up. With that, the AP Top 25 Poll has once again been updated with the latest results in mind.
Conference play is in full swing and, with that, the race for the top of the standings in the regular season is heating up. At this point, there are only so many opportunities to make a move or risk not having enough time to get to the top of their respective conference standings. That also means that teams are jockeying for position in their future conference tournament seeding.
With all of that in mind, here’s a look at the updated AP Top 25 Poll in women’s college basketball for the first week of February.
The UCLA Bruins march on with their undefeated season. Since the last AP Poll came out, the Bruins only had one game, a Big Ten battle against Minnesota that saw the Golden Gophers hang around for a half before the Bruins pulled away to win by 26 points. That improved UCLA to 22-0.
On Wednesday, UCLA is in for a major test when they host the Ohio State Buckeyes. That should, on paper, be the start of the toughest stretch of the season for UCLA. With eight total games remaining, four of those are against ranked teams including two against USC before the season comes to an end.
Jan 9, 2025; Columbia, South Carolina, USA; South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Dawn Staley directs her team against the Texas A&M Aggies in the first half at Colonial Life Arena. Mandatory Credit: Jeff Blake-Imagn Images In SEC play, South Carolina has once again been dominant and their only loss this season remains against UCLA in non-conference play. In the last week, that saw the Gamecocks win a pair of games, starting with a hard-fought win against Tennessee, before returning home for a double-digit win against Auburn.
In this next week, South Carolina is going to hit the road for a pair of tests. First, the Gamecocks are set to travel to play Georgia on the road. That could become a trap because, at the end of the week, they’ll travel to Austin for one of the biggest games of the season against Texas.
Since Notre Dame stumbled in late November in non-conference play, the Irish have been dominant. That has seen them become the frontrunner in the ACC throughout the season and that continued with a pair of double-digit road wins against Virginia Tech and Louisville.
Now considered one of the best teams in the country by the AP Poll, Notre Dame has a target on its back moving forward this season. Of course, the schedule also doesn’t get easier from here. Notre Dame will return home next week before hosting a pair of West Coast schools, hosting Stanford and Cal.
The Texas Longhorns have now won six games in a row since dropping a road test against South Carolina in the middle of January. Last week, that included wins over Missouri and Texas A&M. That win over the Aggies was especially sweet.
The schedule gets tougher next week with some AP-ranked opponents coming up. First, Texas will need to stay focused on Thursday when they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. Otherwise, they could easily get trapped looking ahead to South Carolina coming to town on Sunday for a rematch.
© Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports All the UConn Huskies do in Big East play is win. The last time they had a game that was less than a double-digit win was back in December when they suffered a two-point loss to USC. Last week, for the Huskies, it was a pair of blowout wins over DePaul and Butler consecutively.
Next week, UConn has an interesting test to look ahead to, and it’s not in the Big East. Next Thursday, the Huskies have an interesting test against Tennessee, in a classic women’s basketball matchup. After that, it’s back to Big East play against Providence.
The LSU Tigers seem to have fully bounced back from their loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks with a run of three wins in a row. That included a close win over Oklahoma where the score went on to be 107-100 last Thursday. The Tigers would then follow up with a double-digit win over Mississippi State.
Next week, LSU hits the road for a game against Missouri. After that, they’ll enter one of their toughest stretches of the season, playing teams who either are ranked in the AP Poll or were recently ranked in the AP Poll in four of the next five games, starting with Tennessee.
The USC Trojans stumbled in their second game of the week, dropping a road game against Iowa in front of an emotionally charged crowd. In particular, a four-point first quarter was costly and put a damper on their win over Minnesota earlier in the week. It also cost the Trojans in the AP Poll.
Things aren’t going to get any easier for USC from here in Big Ten play. Next week, the Trojans are set to take on Wisconsin and Ohio State. They’ll need to maintain focus too because UCLA is just around the corner the week after that set of tough games and a loss there would put USC behind the eight-ball in a tough Big Ten.
Ohio State forward Cotie McMahon celebrates a win over Maryland during the 2023-24 season. (Barbara J. Perenic/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK) Since getting upset by Penn State in January, Ohio State has bounced back with three straight wins and is now ranked in the Top 10 of the AP Poll again. Only one of those games came since the last AP Poll came out, a 10-point game against Washington. That has left them tied for second in the Big Ten standings.
From here, however, Ohio State is really going to get tested by Big Ten play. On Wednesday, the Buckeyes are on the road against UCLA. After that, they’ll stick in Los Angeles for another road test against USC. That could make for a potentially make or break week for the Buckeyes as it relates to their regular season hopes in conference play.
Since their one-point upset loss to a tough Oklahoma State team, TCU has bounced back in a fairly major way. They’ve added wins against Baylor and Iowa State, both of whom are competitive in the Big 12, and now they’re back at the top of the conference standings and are highly ranked in the AP Poll.
Next week has maybe the biggest game of the season for TCU. The Horned Frogs are set to take on Kansas State on Wednesday. Another highly ranked team, the two seem to be the top two competitors in the Big 12 and, with that, the game is going to put someone in the driver’s seat. From there, TCU needs to avoid upsets, starting with Texas Tech at the end of the week.
The Duke Blue Devils had an interesting week in the middle of the season and conference play. They didn’t play a single game. Beating Georgia Tech last Sunday helped the Blue Devils get into the AP Top 10 at the time, but they haven’t played a game since the last poll came out.
Now, Duke is getting ready for a tough game on Monday night when they travel to rival NC State. From there, they’ll play a back-to-back against Clemson before adding another game on Sunday against Miami. That should, in part, make up for the week off that Duke had to try and hit the reset button with.

#Womens #College #Basketball #Rankings #Poll #Top #updated #start #FebruarySouthern Cal falls to No. 7 in AP Top 25 women’s basketball poll
Southern Cal’s second loss of the season dropped the Trojans to seventh in The Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll Monday.
The previously No. 4 Trojans were shocked Sunday by the host Iowa Hawkeyes 76-69 on the day that Caitlin Clark’s jersey was retired. USC’s only other loss came at home to Notre Dame in November.
UCLA, South Carolina and Notre Dame remained the top three teams in the rankings. The Bruins received all 32 first-place votes in the poll from a national media panel, picking up the one that the Gamecocks garnered last week.
The Bruins beat Minnesota 79-53 in their lone game last week to remain as the only unbeaten team in the country. South Carolina knocked off then-No. 18 Tennessee and Auburn. The victory over the Tigers on Sunday came on a day when the Gamecocks retired the jersey of A’ja Wilson.
Texas, UConn and LSU all moved up a spot to follow the Fighting Irish. Ohio State, TCU and Duke remained eight through 10.
No. 11 Kentucky has its best ranking in four years behind first-year coach Kenny Brooks. The Wildcats (19-2), who last were ranked this high in 2021, have their bye week before hitting a tough stretch of the SEC schedule to close the regular season. They still have games left against South Carolina, LSU, Texas and Tennessee.
The Wildcats’ only losses this season came against North Carolina on Dec. 5 and Texas A&M on Jan. 23.
CONFERENCE BREAKDOWN
With no new teams in the poll this week, the Southeastern Conference remained atop the standings with eight teams ranked. The ACC had seven. The Big Ten was next with five. The Big 12 has four ranked teams and the Big East one.
GAMES OF THE WEEK
No. 9 TCU at No. 12 Kansas State (Wednesday): First place in the Big 12 will be on the line when the Horned Frogs visit the Wildcats. Both teams are 9-1 in conference play.
No. 5 UConn at No. 19 Tennessee (Thursday): These two will renew their rivalry with the Huskies visiting the Lady Vols. It will be the first time that UConn sees Tennessee coach Kim Caldwell’s pressing style.
No. 2 South Carolina at No. 4 Texas (Sunday): The Longhorns will try to avenge a 17-point loss in Columbia last month. South Carolina has a one-game lead in the standings on the Longhorns, Kentucky and LSU.
Southern Cal women’s basketball team has fallen to No. 7 in the latest AP Top 25 poll. Despite a strong start to the season, the Trojans have suffered a couple of losses recently, causing them to drop in the rankings. The team will need to regroup and refocus in order to climb back up the rankings and make a push for the top spot. With plenty of talent and potential, Southern Cal has the ability to bounce back and make a statement in the remainder of the season.
Fans and supporters of the Trojans will be eagerly watching to see how the team responds to this setback and how they perform in the upcoming games. Stay tuned for more updates on Southern Cal women’s basketball as they look to make a run in the rankings.

With the Big Ten regular season just about at its halfway point, Michigan State looks to be on pace for its first conference regular season title in four years.
In its lone game of the week, Tom Izzo’s seventh-ranked Spartans (17-2, 8-0 in Big Ten) kept alive their undefeated start to conference play with an 81-74 win over Rutgers at Madison Square Garden in New York. It’s the 12th consecutive win for Michigan State, and their best start in Big Ten play since 2018-2019.

Speaking of Purdue, the Boilermakers split the week 1-1 at Mackey Arena with a loss to Ohio State and a win over then-No. 21 Michigan. Purdue senior guard Braden Smith finished three rebounds shy of recording a triple-double in the Boilermakers’ 91-64 romp over the Wolverines, who split last week’s games with an 80-76 overtime win vs. Northwestern.
Wisconsin appears to be back on track after a rocky December start to Big Ten play, as the Badgers defeated Nebraska 83-55 on Sunday at the Kohl Center for their eighth win in their last nine contests.

Syracuse Orang men’s basketball: predictions and poll vs Stanford
The Syracuse Orange (9-11, 3-6) make their first ACC trip to California to face the Stanford Cardinal (14-6, 6-3). Tip-off is late for us East Coast folks with an 11:00 pm start on ESPNU and here’s what we’re predicting:
Kevin: Stanford 78, Syracuse 71
There’s been some better offense from the Orange, but I don’t see how they contain Maxime Reynaud tonight. Reynaud is going to pull Eddie Lampkin away from the rim and if Syracuse tries to go smaller, he’ll likely go into the post on Davis and Majstorovic. To have a chance at this road win, Syracuse will need to limit turnovers and continue to hit shots from beyond the arc.
Dom: Stanford 85, Syracuse 75
A recent skid gives me pause Syracuse can come out with a win, and then there’s the fact Stanford enters this game on a three-game win streak with an 11-1 record at home on the year. The adjustment to head out to the West Coast is already tough enough, but equally as tough is trying to get enough stops against a Stanford offense that scores at a top-half mark in the ACC who also doesn’t turn the ball over. A scoring drought coming out of halftime sees the Orange fall behind and fail to recover.
Max: Stanford 82, Syracuse 68
Staying up late for this one will likely be a mistake. As Dom pointed out, the Cardinal have been nearly automatic at home and perfect in ACC play, beating their conference opponents by an average of 19.5 points over those four games. If this were in the Dome, it might be a different story, but the turnover bug will hit the Orange hard again in a double-digit road loss.
Sam: Stanford 75, Syracuse 67
I think both teams start sluggish in this one, but eventually, Raynaud takes over and Stanford pulls out the win.

Album of the Year 2025 Grammys Poll: Who Should Win?
When 2024 turned out to be one of the most densely packed years for pop music releases in recent memory, it was a given that the following year’s Grammys would be extremely competitive. But as the days close in on Sunday’s ceremony, the face-off is starting to feel more and more contentious — especially in the album of the year category.
In 2025, some of pop’s most established titans are squaring off against breakout newcomers and tastemakers in the category, with no clear front-runner to speak of. For starters, last year’s winner Taylor Swift returns to the fold in 2024, this time with her 17-week Billboard 200-topper The Tortured Poets Department. If the prize was awarded based on sales, the Eras Tour headliner would have it in the bag, having recorded the second-highest first-week numbers in history — 2,610,000 units, to be exact — with her sprawling 11th studio record the in April last year. She’s also the reigning AOTY winner, taking home the award a record fourth time in 2024 for the year prior’s Midnights.
But Beyoncé is also in the race for the fifth time in her career, this time thanks to Cowboy Carter. Some people think that the critical acclaim of the country-bending, genre-exploring LP — which features all-star cameos from Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Post Malone, Miley Cyrus and more greats — might be the project to finally get the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer that AOTY honor, which would become the crown jewel of her already record-high Grammy count (32 total).
But three of last summer’s most talked-about ladies also share the category with Bey and Tay: Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan and Charli XCX. All three women ruled the charts last year with their respective projects, with Short n’ Sweet, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and Brat, respectively, all spawning year-defining viral hits and turning their creators into superstars.
And those are just a few of the heavyweights included in this year’s album of the year category, which will also see Grammy darling Billie Eilish‘s Hit Me Hard and Soft face off against André 3000‘s New Blue Sun and Jacob Collier‘s Djesse Vol. 4. Opinions about who should actually take home the coveted gramophone are rampant, but only Recording Academy voters can decide the fate of the nominees.
Except for here, where your voice is the one that matters: Tell Billboard which project you hope to see win album of the year at the 2025 Grammys by casting your vote in the poll below.
With the 2025 Grammys just around the corner, music lovers are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the Album of the Year winner. This year, the competition is fierce with so many talented artists releasing incredible albums. We want to hear from you – who do you think should win Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys? Is it the chart-topping pop sensation, the critically acclaimed indie darling, or the groundbreaking newcomer who has taken the music world by storm?
Cast your vote in our poll and let us know who you think deserves to take home the coveted Album of the Year award. Stay tuned for the Grammys ceremony to see if your favorite artist comes out on top! #Grammys2025 #AlbumoftheYear #MusicPoll

Poll shows bipartisan consensus on child care in Ohio as lawmakers consider funding changes
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Republicans, Democrats and independent voters overwhelmingly believe the state should increase funding for child care for working parents, a new poll shows, potentially buoying the chances that daycare-related legislation passes in the General Assembly.
According to the December poll conducted by Alexandria, Virginia-based Public Opinion Strategies on behalf of Groundwork Ohio, which advocates for expanding child care access, 84% of voters want state funding for child care “to increase access, affordability and quality.”
Of the 800 Ohio voters surveyed, 77% of Republicans supported state funding; 92% of Democrats supported it and 84% of independents supported it. It comes as not only child advocates, but also business groups such as the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, are concerned that the cost and availability of good programs is keeping many parents out of the workforce, which stalls the state’s economy.
The number of available workers and inflation’s costs for child care businesses have worsened child care availability since the COVID-19 pandemic.
In previous legislative sessions, state lawmakers introduced virtually no bills to address child care. But the last two-year session, which ended in December, saw several, including offering refundable and non-refundable tax credits for families; a tax credit for employers who help pay their workers’ child care costs; more publicly funded child care; universal preschool and full-day kindergarten; and free child care benefits for child care workers. But none made it across the finish line.
Three bills have been introduced already to start the new session, signaling that lawmakers understand the issue is not going away.
Last year, Gov. Mike DeWine increased state vouchers for publicly funded daycare for about 8,000 more children. Yet, the new poll for Groundwork Ohio found that voters have an appetite for more programs – from tax credits to more subsidies.
Among the 800 voters who were surveyed, 484 had children aged five and younger. About a third of those respondents or their partners said they stayed at home with children. Some of them, however, wished to enter the workforce to provide money for their families, said Jarrett Lewis, a partner for the pollster, who explained the poll on a webinar Tuesday morning.
About six in 10 women who stayed at home part-time or full-time said they would return to the workforce if they had access to high-quality child care at a reasonable cost. And half of working parents said that they had to cut back in their working hours to care for their children in recent months, Lewis said.
“This has an undeniable impact on the state’s economy,” he said. “Ohio voters in this poll, you’ll see data that they agree that labor shortages in the state are in part due to a lack of access to high-quality child care. In light of this, Ohio voters very much, very strongly support increasing funding for child care in order to increase access, affordability and quality. That support, importantly, extends across party lines.”
Among the bills introduced thus far in the Ohio General Assembly are House Bill 2 and Senate Bill 32, similar though not identical bills that would create voluntary programs for employers to participate in, in which child care expenses would be covered in three equal parts by the state, the employer and the employee. The employer could choose to pay a portion or all of the worker’s share as well.
Both bills would send up to $10 million to the Ohio Department of Children and Youth to cover the program and the state’s share. HB 2 and SB 32 are sponsored by Republicans. GOP-sponsored bills generally have a better chance of passing since both chambers of the legislature are controlled by Republicans.
The third bill, House Bill 7, is also GOP-sponsored. It would allow foster families and kinship caregivers – family and extended family members who take children in if the parents are unable to care for them – eligible for publicly funded child care and preschool.
At the federal level, families can claim the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit on their federal returns, which is $600 per dependent child, said Brittany Boulton, Groundwork Ohio’s vice president.
“That $600 per child is currently up for debate in Congress, so that’s a federal concern,” she said.
In our Rethinking Child care series, cleveland.com and the Plain Dealer are examining the expense and difficulty of finding quality child care and proposing solutions to share families’ burdens — and help our economy.

A recent poll conducted in Ohio has revealed a surprising bipartisan consensus on the importance of child care in the state. The poll, which surveyed a diverse group of Ohio residents, found that an overwhelming majority of both Democrats and Republicans believe that access to affordable, high-quality child care is crucial for working families. The results of the poll come at a pivotal time for child care funding in Ohio, as lawmakers are currently considering changes to the state’s child care subsidy program. Advocates for child care reform are hopeful that the bipartisan support shown in the poll will encourage lawmakers to prioritize funding for child care programs that benefit working families.
According to the poll, 87% of Ohio residents believe that access to affordable child care is important for working families, with 74% saying that the state should invest more in child care programs. Additionally, 82% of respondents said that they would be more likely to support a candidate who prioritizes funding for child care.
The poll also found that Ohio residents are in favor of specific policy changes, such as increasing the income eligibility limit for child care subsidies and providing more funding for early childhood education programs.
Overall, the poll results indicate a strong bipartisan consensus on the need for increased investment in child care in Ohio. Lawmakers will now have the opportunity to listen to their constituents and make funding decisions that will benefit working families across the state.
