Customers slam Nestlé as ‘cruel’ for axing popular chocolate bar

Customers have slammed Nestlé as ‘cruel’ after plans to discontinue an immensely popular chocolate bar have emerged.

The chocolate behemoth confirmed today that they are axing the sweet treat due to insufficient sales.

Much to the shock of vegans, Nestlé said it will only be available ‘until the summer’ – though there is no specific date provided for when sales will stop in the UK.

Crafted with rice-based milk alternatives and made using 100 per cent sustainable cocoa, it is popular with customers looking for a dairy-free or vegan alternative.

The vegan version of the KitKat was first launched in 2021 due to customer demand and was also believed to push Nestlé further towards its Net Zero Plans for 2050.

Although it tasted similar to the original, the KitKat Vegan had an 18 per cent smaller carbon footprint.

The KitKat Vegan was available in 15 European countries including France, Denmark and the UK – where it sold for around £1.

A Nestlé spokesperson told The Mirror: ‘We know that KitKat Vegan has been popular for those looking for dairy or vegan alternatives.

‘Unfortunately, global demand has been reducing to the point that production was making manufacturing more and more complex and we have now made the difficult decision to discontinue the product.

Nestlé acknowledged that vegan chocolate remains a niche market, with their more traditional products bringing in the most money.

The spokesperson added: ‘Our emphasis with the KitKat brand for the foreseeable future will be on classic chocolate variants, as they continue to be the preferred choice among consumers.’

Social media erupted with heartfelt posts as thousands voiced their disappointment, including one emotional user who took to the group Vegan Food UK to write: ‘No! You are just cruel!

‘It’s one of the only nice tasting vegan chocolate products that my daughter can eat without an allergic reaction.

‘We’ve been paying your over inflated prices for a long while and now you’re taking that little bit of pleasure away from her and so many thousands of others.’

Others agreed that they would be left with a lack of vegan alternatives to chocolate without KitKat Vegan.

When it was first released, the KitKat Vegan divided chocoholics who said that it didn’t taste the same as the original due to the use of darker chocolate.

But today, as people mourned the loss of the KitKat Vegan on social media, one said: ‘What?? I liked it more than the regular KitKat.

However there is good news in the world of chocolate as Iceland announced on Tuesday it would be stocking everyone’s ‘favourite’ chocolate – Milky Way Crispy Rolls.

Milky Way Crispy Rolls will hit Iceland’s shelves on February 4 for a week alongside two brand-new additions – Bounty Crispy Rolls and Twix Crispy Rolls.

The frozen-food retailer will sell each chocolate bar for 50p – but shoppers who are particularly hungry have the option to buy all three for £1.20.

Although the Milky Way Crispy Bars are returning for a limited time only, chocoholics took to X to express their excitement.

‘Hooray!’ one overjoyed shopper exclaimed. ‘I’m glad these chocolates are back in the shops. My stomach has missed them.’

With his mouth clearly watering, another user described the Milky Way Crispy Bars as ‘amazing’ and a sugary snack that ‘reminds me of my childhood’.

Popular stand-up comic, 28, dies shortly after kick-off of 2025 tour

Ken Flores, the Chicago-based stand-up comedian known primarily for his unfiltered and unapologetic humor — who was currently on tour — died on Jan. 28. He was only 28 years of age.

A rapidly rising star in stand-up comedy thanks to his hilarious TikTok and Instagram reels, his unique jokes and quick wit garnered him more than 250,000 followers across the world.

And his nonchalant stage presence and unconventional comedic prowess has been referred to as a bit refreshing and somewhat wild.

No cause of death was indicated at this time, according to a story on Forbes.com

The story goes on to explain that a tour began in Portland, Oregon on Jan. 10 and had been scheduled to conclude in San Diego, Calif. on April 19.

“It is with great sadness that we confirm the untimely passing of our friend, brother, and son, Kenyi Flores,” wrote his family on Flores’ Instagram page. They asked for privacy as they’re shocked and devastated by the loss.

Though an official cause of death has not been reported, the Los Angeles Times reported that his body was found at his home at around 2 p.m. on Tuesday. TMZ cited law enforcement sources who said it appeared he died of a cardiac arrest, according to a story on PennLive.com

Flores was heard in the podcasts “Netflix Is a Daily Joke” in 2020, “Todd N Tyler Radio Empire” in 2021, and “Nonna’s Basement Podcast” with Luca, Tom & Tyler in 2022.

USA Today reported that Flores had just embarked on a nationwide “Butterfly Effect Tour” on Jan. 10. As part of that tour, he was slated to work three dates — Feb 6-8 — at the Helium Comedy Club in Philadelphia, according to his website.

The site added that Flores got his start by posting clips to YouTube as he worked as a bank teller in his early 20s.

“He was a comedian that was a friend of mine and was super talented and I worked with him a bunch,” wrote actor and comedian Chris D’Elia son social media. “He was really, really, really funny and he had the whole future in front of him. My heart goes out to his family and his friends. That dude was a great guy.”

We’re Going To Have To Wait Until 2026 For Some Wildly Popular Netflix Shows, And I’m Bummed To Have To Wait To See If My Outer Banks Theory Pans Out

Netflix is gearing up for a massive year with Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Squid Games all returning to the streamer for the 2025 TV schedule. Unfortunately, not all Netflix subscribers will be celebrating the lineup today, as many wildly popular shows won’t be returning until 2026 at the absolute earliest.

The news of what’s not coming back this year isn’t too surprising since many of the shows premiered late in the 2024 season, leaving little time for filming to start for a 2025 premiere. However, it’s still disappointing news, especially for shows with more active fanbases like Outer Banks.

I Guess I’ll Have To Keep Thinking About My Outer Banks Theory

As an avid Outer Banks fan, I was definitely bummed to learn that Season 5 won’t be making the 2025 Netflix lineup. It was a long shot since the renewal for the fifth and final season came in early November, but I still had hope the team behind the show could work some Hollywood magic and give fans the happy ending we so desperately deserve after the tragic Season 4 ending.

I guess I’ll have to wait longer to see if my theory that the Pogues are going to have second thoughts about trying to avenge JJ pans out. It’s not all bad news, though. At the very least, I have more time to wrap my head around my theory that the writers are going to use JJ’s absence to make Kiara and Rafe endgame and become one of the best couples on the show — something that has been debated amongst fans since the show first hit Netflix back in 2020.

Other Netflix Shows Not Hitting The Schedule Until 2026

Outer Banks isn’t the only hit series missing from Netflix’s upcoming release schedule. Bridgerton fans are going to have to practice their patience, as Benedict’s chapter won’t be coming this year. Despite the popularity of the Regency-era show, showrunners are sticking firmly to the timeline they’ve established with the first three seasons, which had fans waiting about two years between Seasons 2 and 3.

It looks like fans of the anime-turned-live-action hit ONE PIECE will also be stuck waiting for the second installment of the fantasy adventure series. Season 1 dropped back in August 2023, but production didn’t begin on the second season until a year later, despite getting renewed in September 2023.

Ali Wong’s led Beef is another 2023 series that won’t be getting its second installment until 2026. Fans of the Emmy-winning limited or anthology series might be the most patient of all, considering the show didn’t officially get renewed for a second season until a year and a half after its initial release.

With Netflix raising the prices of subscriptions again, fans of these shows might consider canceling their subscription until 2026. However, that might not be the smartest of decisions, given how packed the 2025 lineup is. Plus, dates are always up in the air. There’s always a chance something slated for 2026 might wrap early and find itself on the back half of the 2025 lineup, so it’s best to keep those subscriptions up to date.

As a fan of Netflix’s hit series Outer Banks, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of the next season to see if my theories about the show will come true. However, it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2026 for some of the most popular Netflix shows to return.

This news is definitely a bummer for fans like me who have been eagerly anticipating the next season of our favorite shows. It’s always tough to have to wait for new episodes, especially when you’re dying to see what happens next.

But as frustrating as it may be, I’m trying to stay positive and use this time to rewatch old episodes, catch up on other shows, and maybe even come up with some new theories about Outer Banks. Who knows, maybe by the time the next season finally premieres, I’ll have even more ideas about what’s in store for the characters.

In the meantime, I’ll just have to be patient and trust that the wait will be worth it. And hey, at least it gives me something to look forward to in the future. Who knows, maybe by 2026, my Outer Banks theory will have panned out after all.

FDA issues Class 1 recall for salmon sold at popular retail chain
CINCINNATI (WKRC) – An FDA recall of smoked salmon from a popular chain of retail stores was recently reclassified as a Class 1 recall, the highest risk level available.

The Food and Drug Administration issued a recall for Kirkland Signature brand smoked salmon, sold at Costco, for possible Listeria Monocytogenes contamination in October of 2024, but the recall was recently readjusted to Class 1, the highest risk level, which the FDA defines on its website as “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The recall specifically affects 111 cases of Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon in twin 12 ounce packages, UPC 0 96619 25697 6, Lot 8512801270 with the best by date of 11/13/2024.

The product had not been on shelves for some time, but it is possible that some customers still have it in their freezer for later use.

Those who purchased the product should throw it away or return it to Costco for a refund.

Popular Super Bowl snack recalled under FDA’s highest risk
Check your snacks before the Super Bowl.

The Food and Drug Administration has given the highest risk classification to a recall for Lay’s potato chips. The FDA first announced the recall on Dec. 16 after Frito-Lay said a limited number of 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips may contain undeclared milk.

The FDA reclassified the health alert on Monday to a Class 1 recall, which is issued for “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The recall is for 13 oz. Lay’s Classic Potato Chips with UPC code 28400 31041 and a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of 11 FEB 2025 with manufacturing codes 6462307xx or 6463307xx.

“Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” the FDA said. “If consumers have an allergy or sensitivity to milk, they should not consume the product and discard it immediately.”

According to the FDA, the recalled chips were distributed to certain retail stores and e-commerce distributors in Oregon and Washington. Consumers would have been able to purchase these chips as early as November 3, 2024.

No other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes or variety packs are affected by the recall.

Frito-Lay said no allergic reactions have been reported.

The FDA said it reclassified the recall Monday to its highest level because milk is one of eight “major food allergens,” meaning it is one of the products that can lead to mild or life threatening allergic reactions, including hives, rash, swelling, stomach cramps, dizziness, vomiting and/or diarrhea, coughing or wheezing, swollen vocal cords, difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness.

Potato chips are one of the 25 most popular snacks during football games like the Super Bowl, according to mashed.com. An Instacart survey last year similarly found that chips and dips are among the top 20 favorite foods during the big game.

Customers who purchased the affected product can contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday.

PITTSBURGH (WBOY) — Pittsburgh Pirates star pitcher and 2024 National League Rookie of the Year Paul Skenes has made the cover of the popular baseball video game MLB: The Show 25.

Marvel Rivals community wants this popular villain to be added in-game

Marvel Rivals is stacked with incredible comic book characters. Many of these heroes such as Iron Man, Hulk, and Wolverine, are rather mainstream and perhaps therefore, popular. However, the Marvel Universe has many interesting characters who can be added to the game, and some community members hope that the next addition is none other than Taskmaster.

Taking to Reddit, u/Japanese_inspired shared concept art portraying Taskmaster in Marvel Rivals. The user compared the character to other hooded characters such as Moon Knight and Cloak:

“I’ve never wanted a character more until this Taskmaster concept”

The post went viral after being uploaded on January 24, 2025. It received over 5,000 upvotes and over 200 comments. Redditor u/Mylaststory even proposed an ability that could work with Taskmaster’s character from the comics:

“He could have a parry ability. If timed correctly he could fire back an ability that was used on him. Make him a high risk high reward character.”

Meanwhile, u/TheTrazynTheInfinite suggested that Taskmaster in Marvel Rivals should borrow his skills from other heroes such as Captain America, Magik, and perhaps even Iron Fist:

“I’ve been saying that we need taskmaster since I started playing this game, make him a hybrid between Magik. Cap and maybe a smidgen of iron fist”

This suggestion makes sense since the character’s primary ability is copying other heroes. However, not all the comments were in favor of the character being added. In fact, u/DadlyQueer believed it was nigh impossible to incorporate Taskmaster into the game.

Finally, u/iamdroogie believed that a character like Taskmaster just wouldn’t work in a hero shooter. The user found the concept attractive and yet, impractical.

Leaked heroes who could be coming to Marvel Rivals

Over January 2025, a plethora of leaked heroes appeared online as data miners attempted to predict upcoming characters in Marvel Rivals. Many of these heroes are X-Men members such as Professor X, Nightcrawler, Colossus, as well as Jean Grey or Pheonix.

Apart from them, names such as Deadpool, Hit-Monkey, and Blade have also been revealed. However, it recently came to light that Marvel Rivals developers may be hiding fake hero names in the game files. This could have been done to ward off data miners trying to leak information.

As of writing, no confirmations have been given regarding the release of most of these leaked characters.
