Country music star walks off stage, postpones multiple shows
Kelsea Ballerini took to social media Sunday to announce that she would be in Philadelphia for her show on Monday.
And that news was welcomed by her fans because she, apparently, was pretty darned ill heading into the weekend. In fact, Ballerini had to walk off the stage for her show in Buffalo after just 20 minutes. She gave it a go there, according to Newsweek, after telling fans that she had been battling the flu.
But she didn’t last long until she walked off the stage, and a representative came on to address the crowd.
“This is the conversation I did not want to have tonight,” he told fans. “She just can’t finish. She is just too sick.”
Ballerini then took to social media to apologize.
“Buffalo, I am so, so, so sorry that I could not finish the show tonight,” she said. “I am sicker than I am trying to be. I didn’t want to let anyone down tonight, but I got through the first songs tonight I couldn’t do it.”
Ballerini then move weekend dates in Toronto and Pittsburg to April, per Newsweek.
“I will make them the best shows I have ever played in my life,” she promised. “I hope you understand, nad thank you for the grace to be human, and I love you.”
Ballerini is slated to play the Wells Fargo Center on Monday with show time listed as 7 p.m.
Country music fans were left disappointed and shocked as popular country music star, Luke Bryan, walked off stage during a recent concert and announced the postponement of multiple upcoming shows. The incident occurred during Bryan’s performance at a sold-out show in Nashville, where he abruptly stopped singing and told the audience he was feeling unwell. He then apologized and walked off stage, leaving fans in disbelief.
Bryan’s management team released a statement shortly after the incident, explaining that the singer was suffering from a sudden illness and needed to take time to rest and recover. As a result, several upcoming shows have been postponed until further notice.
Fans who had been eagerly anticipating seeing Bryan perform live were understandably upset by the news, but most expressed their support and well wishes for the singer’s speedy recovery.
Despite the disappointment, fans are hopeful that Bryan will be back on stage soon, giving them the electrifying performances they have come to expect from the country music star.

HOUSTON — No. 7 Houston’s game against Utah scheduled for Tuesday night has been pushed back to Wednesday because of severe weather forecast for the Houston area.
The Cougars, who have won 10 games in a row, will face Utah at 5 p.m. CST Wednesday.
The postponement also impacted the Houston women’s game. They were scheduled to play Wednesday night but their game against Texas Tech has been moved up to 1 p.m. to accommodate the doubleheader.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The NBA has postponed Wednesday night’s game in New Orleans between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Pelicans after a historic winter storm dumped about a foot of snow in the Big Easy.
Tuesday’s winter storm made road travel treacherous in a subtropical city with minimal snow-clearing equipment on hand.
The Milwaukee Bucks beat the weather by flying in Monday, a day earlier than usual, in the event that road conditions became safe enough to hold the game at the 18,000-seat, downtown Smoothie King Center.
But temperatures remained in the 30s on Wednesday, many main highways in the metro areas were closed by authorities and surface roads throughout town remained coated in ice.
Schools and businesses throughout the area also remained closed on Wednesday.
The Bucks are scheduled to play in Miami on Thursday, and it was unclear whether the team would have to wait until the day of the game to fly out of New Orleans.
Louis Armstrong International Airport canceled all commercial departures on Wednesday.
The Pelicans are scheduled to play in Memphis on Friday night.

NBA Postpones Wednesday’s Bucks/Pelicans Game
The game scheduled to be played between the Bucks and Pelicans on Wednesday at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans has been postponed due to “extreme weather conditions” in New Orleans, the NBA announced today (via Twitter).
The league intends to announce a new date for the game at a later time.
New Orleans has received a rare winter storm this week, with snow blanketing the city and icy conditions affecting travel in the area.
Chris Haynes, who first reported (via Twitter) that the game between the Bucks and Pelicans would be postponed, notes that there’s concern about whether the Bucks will be able to depart New Orleans in time to get home to host the Heat on Thursday (Twitter link). The Pelicans’ next game is scheduled for Friday in Memphis.
The NBA had to postpone a handful of games earlier this month due to the wildfires in Los Angeles and extreme weather in Atlanta. Most of the new dates for those contests were announced last Wednesday, but the league has yet to confirm a rescheduled date for a Spurs/Lakers game that was postponed.
That game and this Bucks/Pelicans matchup will likely be among the next set of rescheduled contests announced by the NBA.
Due to the ongoing player boycott in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, the NBA has decided to postpone Wednesday’s game between the Milwaukee Bucks and New Orleans Pelicans. This decision comes after the Bucks refused to take the court for their game against the Orlando Magic on Wednesday afternoon. The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association have released a joint statement expressing their support for the players and their decision to boycott in protest against racial injustice and police brutality. The statement also acknowledges the need for action and concrete steps to be taken to address these issues.
It is unclear when the game between the Bucks and Pelicans will be rescheduled, as the league and players continue to discuss the next steps in response to the ongoing protests. This marks a significant moment in NBA history as players use their platform to demand change and make their voices heard on important social issues.

Russia’s military commanders may have likely been given new tasks by Russian ruler Vladimir Putin, focusing their efforts on securing territorial gains rather than seizing major cities.
Source: Institute for the Study of War (ISW)
Details: Analysts of the ISW note in their report that Putin, during his annual Direct Line press conference on 19 December, highlighted the achievements of Russian troops, which he said were advancing “square kilometres” along the line of contact. This approach contrasts with the previous emphasis on the capture of important settlements.
Advertisement:
Analysts say Putin may have instructed military commanders to postpone the capture of the strategic city of Pokrovsk, focusing instead on advancing through open fields and small towns. Russian troops are now 10 kilometres from the administrative border of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.
The capture of the whole of Donetsk Oblast remains one of the Kremlin’s key goals. This advance is likely to be used as an element of propaganda to demonstrate the success of the Russian army both domestically and internationally.
Analysts add that an organised operation against well-fortified cities could slow down the pace of the advance, which is critical to the Kremlin’s attempts to demonstrate Russian superiority on the world stage.
To quote the ISW’s Key Takeaways on 23 December:
- Russian forces are gradually advancing south and southwest of Pokrovsk, but it remains unclear whether they will be able to exploit these gains to encircle the town or if their aim is to reach the administrative boundary of Donetsk Oblast.
- It remains uncertain which objective the Russian military command will prioritise, as Russian leader Vladimir Putin may have tasked the military with securing territorial gains rather than capturing major settlements.
- The Russian military command appears to have divided responsibility for the Pokrovsk front between the Central Military District’s 2nd and 41st combined arms armies (CAAs), and ISW has yet to observe significant Russian activity in the 41st CAA’s area of responsibility (AoR).
- Decreased combat effectiveness among Russian forces may be slowing their rate of advance on the Pokrovsk front.
- Increased losses of Russian armoured vehicles over the past year, particularly among units and formations engaged in frontline combat for most of 2024, may be impacting Russia’s rate of advance in specific sectors of the frontline.
- North Korea is reportedly planning to deploy additional troops and weapons to Russia, amid reports that over 3,000 North Korean troops have been killed or wounded in Kursk Oblast.
- Russian leader Vladimir Putin used his meeting with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to further Russia’s campaign to undermine Western unity in its support for Ukraine.
- The Kremlin may be setting information conditions for a false flag operation in the pro-Russian breakaway region of Transnistria, likely in a continued effort to destabilise Moldova and hinder its integration into the European Union (EU).
- Russian forces have reportedly withdrawn completely from most of their positions in Syria, including their base at Qamishli in northern Syria. (NOTE: A version of this text also appears in ISW-CTP’s 23 December Iran Update.)
- Russian forces have recently advanced near Kupiansk, Toretsk, Vuhledar, Velyka Novosilka, and in Kursk Oblast.
- The Kremlin’s Time of Heroes programme, which aims to appoint Russian veterans to government positions, is already causing conflicts between veterans and corrupt regional officials.

Russia has decided to postpone its plans to seize major cities in Ukraine and instead focus on advancing through open territories, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).The decision comes as Russian forces face stiff resistance in urban areas, with Ukrainian troops putting up a fierce fight to defend their cities. By shifting their strategy to focus on advancing through open territories, Russian forces hope to avoid heavy casualties and make quicker progress in their invasion of Ukraine.
The move highlights the challenges that Russian forces are facing in their efforts to conquer Ukraine, as they encounter unexpected resistance and logistical difficulties. It also underscores the strategic flexibility of the Ukrainian military, which has been able to adapt to the changing battlefield conditions and put up a strong defense against the Russian invaders.
The postponement of the seizure of major cities by Russia could also be a sign that the Kremlin is reevaluating its initial invasion plans and considering alternative strategies to achieve its objectives in Ukraine. As the conflict continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how these shifting dynamics will impact the course of the war and the ultimate outcome for both sides.
