3 mins agoLos Angeles Clippers guard Norman Powell (back) will play on Sunday against the Lakers. The 31-year-old has averaged 23.7 points and shot 45.2% from behind the arc this season, both career-highs. He was on the injury report because of a back issue. But Powell is good to go, so fantasy managers can get him back in their lineups. Unfortunately, his production has declined since the start of the 2024-25 campaign. It likely won’t improve as long as Kawhi Leonard is healthy and on the floor. At any rate, Powell’s availability should mean less work for Terance Mann.Dennis Clausen – RotoBaller

After missing the last few games due to a minor injury, Toronto Raptors guard Norman Powell is set to return to action on Sunday. The team announced that Powell has been cleared to play and is ready to hit the court.

Powell has been an important player for the Raptors this season, averaging 19.6 points per game and shooting a career-high 43.9% from three-point range. His scoring and defensive abilities have been crucial for Toronto, especially with key players like Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam also dealing with injuries.

With Powell back in the lineup, the Raptors will be looking to continue their push for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. His presence on the court will provide a much-needed boost to the team’s offense and defense.

Fans can catch Powell in action on Sunday as the Raptors take on the Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s great to see him back on the court and ready to contribute to the team’s success. Let’s go Raptors! #NormanPowell #NBA #TorontoRaptors #Basketball #InjuryUpdate #NBAnews

  • Los Angeles Clippers’ Norman Powell On His Breakthrough Season And His ‘Understand The Grind’ Foundation

Los Angeles Clippers’ Norman Powell On His Breakthrough Season And His ‘Understand The Grind’ Foundation

Los Angeles Clippers star Norman Powell knows all about his motto, “Understand the Grind.” The 31-year-old veteran is having a breakthrough season in his 10th year in the league, leading the Clippers in scoring with 24.6 points per game while posting a scorching 45.9% rate from beyond the arc (fifth in the NBA).

Powell worked his way up from as un unheralded second-round draft pick who wasn’t guaranteed a roster spot with the Raptors, to being a valuable role player with Toronto during their title run in 2019. Fast forward to now where he’s emerged as the lead scoring option for a Clippers team that currently has a 19-14 record without Kawhi Leonard and will likely be contending for a playoff spot in a tough Western Conference.

“I had a big goal in mind,” says Powell in a one-on-one interview. “I had high expectations for myself no matter what was being put out about me and where I would fit and if I’d be able to make it in the league. I always saw myself where I’m at now, being a key guy to a team, helping contribute night in and night out, a No. 1 option, that was always my mindset.”

The 6-foot-3 shooting guard says he always envisioned himself as a lead scoring option, but explains how he had to be a role player during the first half of his career before emerging as one. During Powell’s first four seasons in Toronto, he averaged less than nine points per game. He’s now averaged at least 16 points per game every season ever since.

During the Raptors’ 2018-19 championship season, Powell averaged 8.6 points in 18.8 minutes per game as the ninth-leading scorer on the team.

“At the end of the day, I had to sit back and realize what it takes to get there,” says Powell. “I knew I had to work my way up and fit into a specific role to get on the floor. I was all about winning. I’m still about winning. Whatever the team needs and whatever role they think Im going to be best suited to help this team win, I’m going to do that while still striving for more and then going after my own individual goals and expectations.”

Powell’s surprising emergence as the Clippers’ leading scorer in the aftermath of future Hall of Famers Paul George and Russell Westbrook leaving makes him a potential All-Star player and All-NBA team selection. Those are both key goals of Powell’s as he seeks to cross those off of his checklist for the first time.

“It’s been 10 years being in the league and this is my first year being a one or two scoring option on a team,” says Powell. “It was all about getting better and knowing what I had to do each and every year to take a step forward in the path I had for myself.”

Powell’s “Understand the Grind” motto is a key thought process in his career. When he was drafted in 2015, the Raptors wanted to stash him overseas to earn his contract. However, Powell had no interest in doing that, instead earning his contract through his play in summer league.

The veteran guard details that he would have probably went back to school to become a lawyer if his basketball career didn’t pan out, but admits that there was no real “Plan B” if his career on the hardwood fizzled.

“I didn’t have a Plan B,” says Powell. “If the league didn’t work out, it was like, I’ll probably become a lawyer, go back and go to school. But I wasn’t banking on that. I put everything into this.”

The San Diego and UCLA native explains how his “Understand the Grind” motivational line comes from a conversation he had with his best friends from high school about how not many athletes from their area (Southeast San Diego ) and his generation have been successful.

“One of my friends was like, ‘Yeah, a lot of people don’t understand the grind. They don’t know what it takes to be successful. They always mess up along the path. That’s why we don’t see too many successful athletes or people coming out of Southeast San Diego,’” Powell details. “It stuck with me and we just started using that as a motivational tool whenever we have hard times or challenges and the pursuit of our own career and our own path.”

Powell’s life journey and evolution as a bit role player into a leading scorer on an NBA team has led to him creating his foundation, “Understand the Grind.” The foundation is in its second year and is aimed to help the community, specifically underserved youth.

The foundation has mentorship programs, AAU basketball programs in his hometown of San Diego, and scholarship programs for student athletes helping them make the adjustment from high school to college.

“I thought about ‘Understand the Grind’ because it’s my lifestyle mantra and motto,” says Powell. “It’s what I stand by. It’s the message that no matter what you’re faced on the journey to achieve your career, you have to understand what it takes to be successful, whatever avenue that is. I thought it was fitting to have a foundation called that.”

Powell says the long-term objective is to open up his facility near his hometown where he can help youth with sports and academics.

“It’s all about achieving your dreams and achieving success,” says Powell. “My foundation is all about giving back to the youth and the community. The long-term objective is I want to open up my facility in between San Diego and Los Angeles, somewhere neutral where kids can come and get training in their respective sports and then also the academic side of things, academics was big with my mom.

“That’s the long-term goal right now is raising money to put into these programs that we have, we’re expanding our mentorship program from not Lincoln High School (Powell’s former high school) in San Diego, but other school districts in San Diego,” Powell continues to say.

The 10th-year guard also has a clothing line that echoes his favorite mantra. Unsurprisingly, his two favorite quotes on his clothing line once again preaches understanding the “grind.”

“I have two of them — the grind pays and then the grind continues,” says Powell. “It’s always a constant pursuit of going after your goals. The grind is always continuing moving forward and the grind pays. The hard work that you put in, always pays off.”

The Los Angeles Clippers’ Norman Powell has been making waves in the NBA this season with his breakout performances on the court. The 6’3” shooting guard has been a key player for the Clippers, averaging 18.5 points per game and shooting an impressive 48.7% from the field.

But Powell’s impact goes beyond his stats on the court. Off the court, Powell has been using his platform to make a difference in his community through his foundation, ‘Understand The Grind’. The foundation focuses on providing resources and support for underprivileged youth in Los Angeles, with a focus on education and mentorship.

In a recent interview, Powell spoke about his breakout season and the importance of giving back to the community. “I’ve been blessed to have this opportunity to play in the NBA, and I want to use my platform to make a positive impact,” Powell said. “I know how important it is to have support and guidance growing up, and I want to be able to provide that for kids who may not have the same opportunities.”

Powell’s foundation, ‘Understand The Grind’, has already made a difference in the lives of many young people in Los Angeles, providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. Powell’s dedication to his community and his commitment to giving back make him a role model both on and off the court.

As Powell continues to shine on the court for the Clippers, his impact off the court through his foundation serves as a reminder of the importance of using one’s platform for good. With his ‘Understand The Grind’ foundation, Powell is not only making a difference in the lives of young people in Los Angeles, but he is also inspiring others to do the same.

But the plot thickens! Gerber was also seen chatting it up with none other than Glen Powell at a New Year’s Eve party.

Our Deuxmoi source spotted Gerber and Powell amidst the festive celebrations. While the details of their exchange remain a mystery, their interaction has certainly piqued our curiosity. A separate Deuxmoi source caught Powell at the airport so we can confirm he was in Mexico.

Gerber, who has dated Austin Butler, always keeps her love life relatively low-key. Jackson, a musician, and Hargrove, an actor, both seem to be keeping the model/actress company while Butler was no where to be seen.

  • Glen Powell Dons Makeup, Wig in Teaser for Football Comedy Chad Powers

Glen Powell Dons Makeup, Wig in Teaser for Football Comedy Chad Powers

According to retired NFL great Eli Manning, actor Glen Powell might be best known as “the guy with his shirt off the whole time in Anyone But You.” But as a teaser trailer dropped by Hulu this weekend makes clear, Powell is also the guy who picked up the football pads and ball that Manning dropped—and ran with it.

Let’s back up. Manning, who was a quarterback with the New York Giants for 16 seasons, retired in 2020. As with many name-brand players post-career, Manning ended up at ESPN, working both as an analyst and in a show called Eli’s Places, in which he took a humorous look at the college football scene. In one episode of that show, a nearly 40-year-old Manning dons a not-especially convincing (he’s no Jackal, to be sure) set of facial prosthetics, as well as a mustache and wig as a walk-on player for Penn State named “Chad Powers.” Awkward confusion ensues.

The segment inspired a Hulu series announced last year, but this time, it’s Glen Powell in the Powers role, not Manning. Also different is this show’s premise, as this time Chad Powers isn’t the pseudonym for a two-time Super Bowl MVP, it’s the assumed name of a fictional character named Russ Holliday, who—per Hulu—exhibited behavior so bad that it derailed his college ball career. No longer college-aged (Powell, who also co-created, co-wrote, and co-executive produces the series, is 36), Holliday disguises himself to walk on to “a struggling Southern football team.” Here’s hoping he has good insurance.

“I don’t know if I like you playing Chad Powers,” Manning jokingly told Powell in an interview in May. “I’m Chad Powers.” Manning, who along with brother Payton Manning is listed as an executive producer on the show, also noted that Powell had previous onscreen gridiron experience in Top Gun: Maverick. “I saw you throw the football, and I was like, ‘yeah, I don’t know about this guy.’”

We already know that Powell has what it takes to put on silly wigs and disguises, based on his role in Hit Man. Is Manning’s gentle ribbing of Powell’s pigskin prowess warranted, or will he be able to convince viewers of the series, which is slated for a 2025 release on Hulu, that he is a middle-aged football rookie? Perhaps the show’s teaser, released Saturday, will answer that question.

In a surprising transformation, Glen Powell has taken on a whole new look for his upcoming role in the football comedy “Chad Powers.” The actor can be seen donning makeup and a wig in the teaser for the film, giving fans a glimpse of his hilarious and unrecognizable character.

Powell, known for his roles in films like “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Set It Up,” is showing off his comedic chops in this new project. The teaser promises plenty of laughs and outrageous moments as Powell takes on the role of Chad Powers, a football player with a flair for the dramatic.

Fans are already buzzing about Powell’s new look and are eagerly anticipating the release of “Chad Powers.” With his talent and comedic timing, Powell is sure to deliver a memorable performance in this unique and fun-filled comedy.

Stay tuned for more updates on “Chad Powers” and get ready to see Glen Powell like you’ve never seen him before!

Glen Powell Wears a Disguise in Hulu’s Chad Powers Trailer — Watch

Glen Powell has become one of Hollywood’s go-to leading men, with roles in Twisters, Hit Man and Anyone But You. And now, the former Scream Queens star is returning to the small screen, as the star in Hulu’s upcoming half-hour comedy, Chad Powers.

A teaser trailer for the series, which Powell co-created and co-wrote with Loki‘s Michael Waldron, dropped over the weekend ahead of its premiere in Fall 2025.

The 15-second clip offers a glimpse of Powell’s role as Russ Holliday, a college quarterback who sees his NFL dreams derailed due to his bad behavior. Desperate for a comeback, he dons facial prosthetics and a wig to disguise himself as new player Chad Powers, walking onto a struggling Southern football team for a second chance at fame.

It’s a concept real-life quarterback Eli Manning first explored in a 2022 sketch for ESPN+’s Eli’s Places. In that segment, produced by NFL Films and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, Eli dressed in a similar disguise to Powers to appear in walk-on tryouts for Penn State’s football team.

“We’re both diehard college football fans. When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world,” Powell and Waldron said in a joint statement when Chad Powers was announced back in February. “We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.”

Both Eli and Peyton will serve as executive producers on Chad Powers, along with Powell, Waldron, ESPN and others. The series also stars Steve Zahn as Jake Hudson, Wynn Everett as Tricia, Perry Mattfeld as Ricky, Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd and Frankie A. Rodriguez as Danny.

“I got something coming up,” Powell says in the teaser. “Something kinda big.”

Powell has a busy 2025 ahead of him. The Set It Up alum will star in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man, a new version of the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film, both adapted from the Stephen King novel of the same name. Powell is also slated to appear in the thriller Huntington opposite Margaret Qualley, Topher Grace and Ed Harris.

But Chad Powers just might be the highlight for Powell, who told The Hollywood Reporter back in May that the role was “one of the hardest he’s ever attempted.”

“He’s like, the worst dude on the planet who puts on the mask of the most genial southern guy you’ve ever seen,” Powell said, noting he’d consulted with former Top Gun: Maverick costar Tom Cruise about prosthetics after the action star’s role in Tropic Thunder.

Glen Powell, known for his roles in hit movies like “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Set It Up,” is taking on a new challenge in the upcoming Hulu series “Chad Powers.” In a newly released trailer for the show, Powell can be seen wearing a disguise as he navigates through a high-stakes mission.

The trailer shows Powell’s character, Chad Powers, donning various disguises as he goes undercover to take down a notorious criminal organization. With his quick wit and charm, Powell’s character is sure to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as he outwits his enemies and saves the day.

Fans of Powell’s work are eagerly anticipating the premiere of “Chad Powers” on Hulu, and this trailer only adds to the excitement. Be sure to watch the trailer for yourself to see Powell in action and get a taste of the thrilling adventure that awaits in this new series.
