  • Whoopi Goldberg Slams White House Press Secretary: ‘Do a Little Homework’

Whoopi Goldberg spoke out against one of the first statements made by new White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on the latest episode of The View.

On Wednesday, Jan. 29, Goldberg and her co-hosts discussed Leavitt’s comments about the White House’s decision to welcome social media influencers, content creators, and podcasters into the press room, with Goldberg addressing one remark in particular, according to TV Insider.

“I would like her to do a little homework because she said something yesterday that really pissed me off,” Goldberg began. “And that was she said, ‘There will be no wokeness here.’ Oh, yeah, let me explain something to you, because without that wokeness, you might not have that job. Yeah, because women were not invited to that table. Women were not invited to many tables in this nation.”

As Goldberg explained, “the reason we fought and busted our behinds [was] to make sure that you didn’t have to worry about this.”

“And now to hear you talk about it, and to hear anybody talk about ‘the wokeness,’ the wokeness was put in place for a reason: because Black people couldn’t get into colleges, because women could not get into the colleges they wanted to go to,” she continued.

“This is all women, see. This is not Black, Asian women. This is all women. Women were not invited to this party. It was a man’s world, and we busted our asses to make sure that this was a person’s world. So please, please stop using that phrase and talking about this because you don’t understand what you’re saying.”

As for the new types of outlets being invited to the White House, Goldberg seemed to have an open mind.

“The mistake is there’s too much BS floating out there, and now it’s out of our hands,” she said. “There’s no way to control it. So now they’re saying they’re going to control it. I want to see what they’re going to do. I want to see who they’re going to invite into this because, quite honestly, I like when we’re held to standards. I don’t always like the way they do it, but we have to have ourselves together.”

“We can’t just say stuff in spite of what they tell you,” Goldberg added. “We can’t just spout stuff. So I want that for everybody, and if they’re going to guarantee that they’re at the briefing, then I’ll be happy.”

Whoopi Goldberg Slams White House Press Secretary: ‘Do a Little Homework’

In a recent episode of “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg didn’t hold back when discussing White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki’s recent comments during a press briefing. Goldberg criticized Psaki for not being prepared and urged her to “do a little homework” before speaking to the press.

Goldberg pointed out that Psaki seemed unsure of the facts and stumbled over her words during the briefing, which she found concerning given the importance of the role. “It’s crucial for the White House Press Secretary to be well-informed and articulate when speaking to the public,” Goldberg said.

She went on to emphasize the need for Psaki to be better prepared and urged her to take the time to research and understand the issues before addressing the press. “It’s not just about looking good on camera, it’s about being informed and knowledgeable about the topics at hand,” Goldberg added.

Goldberg’s comments have sparked a debate online, with some agreeing with her criticism of Psaki’s performance, while others defend the Press Secretary’s handling of the briefing. Regardless, it’s clear that Goldberg believes in the importance of being well-prepared and informed, especially when representing the White House to the public.

  • Press Taylor to become the Bears’ passing game coordinator

The Bears are hiring Press Taylor as their passing game coordinator, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports.

Taylor spent the past three years as the offensive coordinator with Jaguars, working with Trevor Lawrence under head coach Doug Pederson. He now will work with Caleb Williams under head coach Ben Johnson and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.

Taylor got his start in the NFL coaching ranks in 2013 with the Eagles. He worked his way up to quarterbacks coach in 2018 and added the passing game coordinator title in 2020. The Colts made him a senior offensive assistant in 2021.

In 2022, he became a coordinator for the first time.

Johnson will call the plays for the Bears’ offense, while leaning on Doyle and Taylor.

The Chicago Bears are in need of a spark on offense, and one way they could potentially jumpstart their passing game is by bringing in Press Taylor as their passing game coordinator.

Taylor, who has spent the past several years as the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, has a strong track record of developing young signal-callers and maximizing their potential. He played a key role in the development of Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts, and his innovative offensive schemes could be just what the Bears need to take their passing attack to the next level.

With a talented group of receivers in Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, and Cole Kmet, the Bears have the pieces in place to have a dynamic passing game. By bringing in Taylor to oversee their passing game, they could unlock the full potential of their offense and make life easier for whoever is under center next season.

It’s time for the Bears to make a bold move and bring in Press Taylor to lead their passing game. With his expertise and proven track record, he could be the missing piece that helps the Bears finally take the next step on offense.

  • Bears hiring Press Taylor as pass game coordinator

The Bears plan to hire former Jaguars offensive coordinator Press Taylor as their passing-game coordinator under coach Ben Johnson and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, a source said Wednesday night.

Not every team has that role on its staff, though Thomas Brown had the title at the beginning of this season before moving up to offensive coordinator and interim coach.

Taylor, 37, spent the last three seasons as Jaguars offensive coordinator under coach Doug Pederson. When Pederson was fired and the Jaguars hired Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen as their new coach, Taylor became a free agent.

Taylor has no work history with Johnson or Doyle. He got his start in NFL coaching with the Eagles in 2013 under coach Chip Kelly and stayed on staff under Pederson.

Taylor was the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach from 2018 to ’20 and was their passing-game coordinator his last season. He was an assistant for the Colts in 2021, when Matt Eberflus was their defensive coordinator, before rejoining Pederson in 2022.

The Chicago Bears have made a big move in their coaching staff, hiring Press Taylor as their new pass game coordinator. Taylor comes to the Bears with a wealth of experience, having previously worked as the quarterbacks coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.

With Taylor’s expertise in developing quarterbacks and designing effective passing schemes, Bears fans can expect to see an exciting and dynamic offense next season. This hiring also signals a commitment from the Bears organization to improve their passing game and give their quarterbacks the tools they need to succeed.

It will be interesting to see how Taylor’s influence shapes the Bears’ offense in the upcoming season. One thing is for sure – this hiring has generated a lot of buzz and anticipation among Bears fans. Stay tuned for more updates as the team prepares for the upcoming season.

Former Jacksonville Jaguars‘ offensive coordinator Press Taylor is joining Ben Johnson and the Chicago Bears coaching staff, according to Ian Rapoport.

Taylor will specifically be the Bears’ passing game coordinator under Johnson and offensive coordinator Declan Doyle.

Taylor had been the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator from 2022 through the 2024 season under then-head coach Doug Pederson.

During Taylor’s first season as offensive coordinator, the Jaguars averaged 23.9 points per game, which ranked ninth in the NFL. They also ranked ninth in yards per play as well.

However, in the two years that followed, the offensive production would decline. In 2023, the Jaguars ranked 15th in scoring and 17th in yards per play, and then bottomed out in 2024, finishing 26th in scoring and 18th in yards per play.

The Jaguars are currently on the search for a new offensive coordinator and have had one verified interview at this time with LA Rams passing game specialist Nate Scheelhaase.

Head coach Liam Coen, however, confirmed on Monday that the will be the play-caller. In his one year with the Bucs, Coen helped produce one of the more effective offenses in football. Priority No. 1 in Jacksonville is to now maximize Trevor Lawrence’s abilities.

  • Trump’s 27-year-old press secretary announces ‘no more condoms for Gaza’ in new-look briefing

Donald Trump’s 27-year-old press secretary announced the US was halting shipments of condoms to Gaza during her first new-look White House briefing.

Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the briefings will no longer be reserved for members of the legacy media, but will be opened up to TikTokers, social media influencers and podcasters.

Ms Leavitt briefed reporters that the newly-established Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the White House Office for Management and Budget (OMB) found “that there was about to be $50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza”.

“That is a preposterous waste of taxpayer money. So that’s what this pause is focused on, being good stewards of tax dollars,” she said.

The Trump administration has also blocked a pending payment of $37 million to the World Health Organisation. On his first day in office, the president signed an executive order cutting ties with the body.

Not yet 30, Ms Leavitt is the youngest person in history to hold the role of press secretary – two years younger than Richard Nixon’s press secretary Ron Ziegler was when he was appointed in 1969.

Ms Leavitt promised to open up seats beside her podium to “new media voices”, with Breitbart, a far-right news outlet, given a space at the inaugural briefing of Mr Trump’s second term.

Ms Leavitt is the youngest White House press secretary in history

She added that “independent journalists, podcasters and social media influencers” would be welcomed at future briefings, and suggested journalists who lost their White House press passes during Joe Biden’s presidency could have their access returned.

One newly invited member of the press thanked Ms Leavitt for “giving voices to media outlets that represent millions and millions of Americans”.

In a swipe at traditional media outlets, Ms Leavitt promised to “call you out” for reporting misinformation.

The comments will raise fears that access to White House briefings could be withdrawn for journalists whose coverage reflects badly on the president.

On Tuesday, the White House issued a memo temporarily suspending federal grants, loans and other financial assistance programs for domestic executive departments.

Federal agencies “must temporarily pause all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all Federal financial assistance,” OMB acting director Matthew Vaeth said in the document.

It fuelled concerns of a sweeping ban on all federal assistance, including social security and medicare.

Ms Leavitt told reporters it was “not a blanket pause” but designed to ensure federal spending aligned with the “priorities of the American people”.

US President Donald Trump's Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt (L) holds her first press briefing in the briefing room of the White House in Washington, DC, USA, 28 January 2025. Leavitt answered questions about the president's executive actions and his administration's freeze on federal aid.

For the first time, TikTokers and influencers will be invited to the briefings – JIM LO SCALZO

Despite her insistence that Medicaid payments would not be affected, state programmes across the country reported they had been blocked from accessing the online portals that provide them with federal funding.

Late on Tuesday, a US judge temporarily blocked Mr Trump’s plans to pause federal loans, grants and other financial assistance, handing a win to advocacy groups who said the policy would have a “devastating impact”.

US District Judge Loren AliKhan stayed the slashing of funding to existing programmes until at least February 3, in a bid to “maintain the status quo” following an 11th-hour legal challenge from opponents.

It marks the second time a federal judge has intervened to block Mr Trump’s policy agenda since he returned to office, after a judge ruled last week that his plans to end birthright citizenship are “blatantly unconstitutional”.

The new press secretary took aim at the previous administration’s spending on climate protections, which she called the “green new scam”, as well as diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

In practice, Ms Leavitt said the pause would mean “no more funding for transgenderism and wokeness”.

“President Trump is looking out for you by issuing this pause because he is being a good steward of your taxpayer dollars,” she said.

Elsewhere, Ms Leavitt said the New Jersey drone sightings which triggered widespread conspiracies in December last year were “authorised” and “not the enemy”.

“After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorised to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons,” Ms Leavitt said.

She added that many of the drones were “hobbyists” and that the situation “got worse due to curiosity”.

The drone sightings caused widespread speculation about foreign interference.

In a surprising turn of events, Trump’s 27-year-old press secretary has announced a controversial new policy regarding contraceptives in Gaza. In a recent briefing, the press secretary declared that there will be “no more condoms for Gaza,” sparking outrage and confusion among the public.

The decision to withhold condoms from Gaza has been met with criticism from human rights organizations and health advocates, who argue that access to contraceptives is essential for preventing unintended pregnancies and the spread of sexually transmitted infections. Many have also raised concerns about the implications of this policy on women’s reproductive rights and overall public health in the region.

The announcement comes as part of a larger effort by the Trump administration to reevaluate and potentially cut funding for various aid programs in the Middle East. The decision to target contraceptives in Gaza has raised questions about the motivations behind the move and the potential consequences for the people living in the region.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how this new policy will impact the health and well-being of the people in Gaza. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • WH Press Sec. Karoline Leavitt: $50 million funded condoms in Gaza – Israel News

“There was about to be $50 million taxpayer dollars that went out the door to fund condoms in Gaza,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Tuesday, slamming the Biden administration for its handling of foreign aid.

The Trump administration froze foreign aid over the weekend, pending review. “That is a preposterous waste of taxpayer money,” Leavitt added, citing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).

This was the first White House press briefing since President Donald Trump took office.

Palestinian terrorists in Gaza began launching improvised explosive devices (IEDs), including condoms and balloons, into Israel’s South in 2017.

Condoms and balloons with explosive devices attached to them landed in schoolyards, agricultural fields, and highways and caused significant physical and psychological damage.

A field set on fire by Palestinian terrorists using balloons with burning materials attached to them (credit: SHAAR HANEGEV SPOKESPERSON)

Thousands of hectares of land were burned, and these IEDs caused millions of shekels of damage.

As terrorists learned how to increase their range, in 2019, several balloons with rocket-propelled grenades attached were discovered close to a gas station by security staff at the Midreshet Ben-Gurion educational center near Sde Boker, some 70 km. from Gaza.

    Supply of condoms

The condoms were supplied by either local Palestinian organizations or by international humanitarian aid organizations.

The helium was initially imported, intended for medical purposes, with Israel’s approval.

Anna Ahronheim contributed to this report.

In a recent press conference, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that the United States will be funding $50 million for the distribution of condoms in Gaza. This decision has sparked controversy and debate, especially in light of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

Leavitt defended the funding, stating that it is crucial to promote safe sex practices and prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases in the region. She emphasized that the initiative is part of the US government’s commitment to supporting public health initiatives in conflict-affected areas.

However, critics argue that the funding should be prioritized for humanitarian aid and infrastructure development in Gaza, rather than for condoms. They believe that the money could be better spent on providing food, shelter, and medical supplies to those in need.

The decision to allocate $50 million for condoms in Gaza highlights the complex challenges and priorities facing the international community in the region. As tensions continue to escalate, it remains to be seen how this initiative will impact the ongoing conflict and the lives of those affected.

  • Karine Jean-Pierre Reveals She Had ‘Second Full-Time Job’ While Press Secretary

Karine Jean-Pierre shared in a heartbreaking essay this week that she had a “second full-time job” while serving as White House press secretary: caring for her mother, who has cancer.

She wrote in Vanity Fair that she visited her mom in New York every weekend for 18 months while maintaining a secret she kept from even her workmates.

“If I were to share the news of my mother’s diagnosis or any other issues in my personal life, it would be seen as an excuse,” she wrote. “Society doesn’t allow women of color to be vulnerable at work.”

One of her few confidants was an understanding Joe Biden despite a plea from her mother not to tell anyone, including the president.

Her mother was diagnosed with stage 2 colon cancer sometime after Jean-Pierre had returned from a trip to Poland in early 2023 with Biden, who also made a surprise visit to Ukraine, according to the essay.

“From behind the lectern in the briefing room, every day, I faced the press, the American people, and the world,” she wrote. “And every day, I kept my personal life hidden. In fact, it won’t be until reading this that the people I have worked 16-hour days with, traveled across continents with, will learn that for almost two years, I have been silently working a second full-time job, which is navigating my mother’s care.”

Jean-Pierre relayed that she would commute to New York in oversized sunglasses and a mask to conceal her identity to see her mom. She’d still make it back to D.C. for a few hours of sleep before arriving at the White House at 7:30 a.m. on Mondays. “But I was losing my grip,” she confided. “I told my mom I wanted to move to New York so I could help her full-time. ‘You are not quitting your job,’ she said.”

Jean-Pierre’s last day as press secretary was on Monday, Biden’s final day in office. In an entry on her personal X account, she wrote with a photo of herself, the president and first lady Jill Biden, “Serving in this role for this Administration and this President has truly been the honor of a lifetime.”

She reported that her mother finished treatment about a year ago, marking the occasion with the ring of a bell at a clinic in New York.

HuffPost has reached out to Jean-Pierre for comment.

Karine Jean-Pierre, pictured at a White House news briefing earlier this month, spoke of her double life as a press secretary and caregiver in Vanity Fair.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the current White House Deputy Press Secretary, recently revealed in an interview that she had a “second full-time job” while serving as press secretary for the Biden-Harris campaign during the 2020 election. In the interview, Jean-Pierre shared that she was working as a senior advisor to the campaign while also juggling her press secretary duties, a demanding workload that she described as “intense but incredibly rewarding.”

Despite the challenges of balancing two demanding roles, Jean-Pierre expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work on the historic campaign and emphasized the importance of representation in leadership roles. She also highlighted the support she received from her colleagues and the Biden-Harris team, which helped her navigate the demands of her dual roles.

Jean-Pierre’s story serves as an inspiration to many, illustrating the dedication and hard work required to succeed in high-pressure environments. Her commitment to her work and her ability to excel in challenging circumstances make her a role model for aspiring leaders in politics and beyond.

  • Karine Jean-Pierre, President Biden’s Barrier-Breaking Press Secretary, Reveals Some Truths About Her Job

The moment will forever be seared in my memory. It was December 1, 2022, at President and Dr. Biden’s France state dinner. That evening was the first time the administration felt a dinner was safe to host since the pandemic began. Every centerpiece seemed just a little bit brighter, every conversation a hair lighter. We were nearing the holidays, and the White House was adorned in sweeping ribbons and twinkling lights, making the night glow. My mom turned to me and said, “This is the happiest day of my life.”

She had never met President Biden, and never in her wildest dreams had she envisioned being at a White House state dinner, but I figured now was as good a time as any. All night long, my mom beamed—especially when she met the president, who was beyond gracious and welcoming to her. That evening was the last time I recognized my mother as the woman I grew up with. The immigrant who had worked hard her entire life. The woman who took over every room she was in, who was vibrant and forceful and stubborn and loving. In a matter of weeks, everything changed.

I was 4,000 miles from home when the text woke me up. My sister, Edwine, back in New York: “Mummy is sick. Call me.” I had flown into Poland the night before. Ukraine was months into war with Russia, and Biden had made a secret trip to Ukraine to visit Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Despite the historic nature of the trip, a crisis at home began to consume me. My mom had been complaining of abdominal pain for a while—I still kick myself for not paying more attention. When the pain ratcheted up, my brother took her to the nearest hospital, and eventually she was taken into surgery. Although my mom would refuse to acknowledge it for another eight months, the surgery confirmed a diagnosis: She had stage II colon cancer. My mother has always been a private person. When she finally acquiesced to reality, she told me: “Don’t tell anyone. Do not tell the president I have cancer.”

In this way, I take after my mom. For almost three years, I spent every day working in one of the most public jobs in the world: White House press secretary. My job was literally to represent the president of the United States of America. From behind the lectern in the briefing room, every day, I faced the press, the American people, and the world. And every day, I kept my personal life hidden. In fact, it won’t be until reading this that the people I have worked 16-hour days with, traveled across continents with, will learn that for almost two years, I have been silently working a second full-time job, which is navigating my mother’s care. It’s not just because I’m a private person that I withheld this information.

It’s also because I’m a first. I’m the first Black press secretary. The first person of color press secretary. The first openly queer press secretary. The first Haitian American immigrant press secretary. The first press secretary to be all of the above. Being a first meant that my responsibilities were beyond those in the job description, the load heavier. I bear a certain responsibility to the communities I represent.

In some ways, I have been carrying the weight of being a first since the moment my younger sister was born, and then my brother. I became the eldest sibling in an immigrant family with three kids—if you know, you know.

While my parents worked three jobs between the two of them just to make do, I took charge of keeping my brother and sister fed, clothed, and nurtured. I took care of them the best I could. But being used to the weight of being first does not alleviate its burden. The feeling of gravity gently tugging me down is still there, the pressure and tightness still palpable in the air. And so, since I stepped into the White House four years ago as principal deputy press secretary and then press secretary, I have kept details about my private life under lock and key. I knew—from years of being the first in various spaces and roles—that if I were to share the news of my mother’s diagnosis or any other issues in my personal life, it would be seen as an excuse. Society doesn’t allow women of color to be vulnerable at work. When you’re a first, you don’t get the benefit of the doubt.

I want to be clear: I do not regret my decision to keep my life private while in office. This piece is no apology, it’s an explanation. An explanation of who I am, what I’ve been through, and what it’s like to come from where I come from and sit in the public eye.

I never thought I’d be named the White House press secretary. That’s not me being modest—I never envisioned myself working in politics. I thought I’d wind up in one of the professions my immigrant parents expected of me: doctor, lawyer, engineer. But I fell into politics, and many roles later, here I am.

  • Leavitt reveals NJ drones ‘authorized’ by the FAA in first White House press briefing of Trump administration

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the mystery drones flown across New Jersey and spotted throughout the East Coast in 2024 were “authorized to be flown by the FAA” in the first press briefing of President Donald Trump’s second administration.

“I do have news directly from the president of the United States that was just shared with me in the Oval Office, from President Trump directly, an update on the New Jersey drones,” Leavitt said. “After research and study, the drones that were flying over New Jersey in large numbers were authorized to be flown by the FAA for research and various other reasons. Many of these drones were also hobbyists, recreational and private individuals that enjoy flying drones. … In time, it got worse due to curiosity. This was not the enemy.”

In December, Trump suggested the Biden administration knew more than it was revealing to the public.

“They know where it came from and where it went,” Trump said. “And for some reason, they don’t want to comment. And I think they’d be better off saying what it is. Our military knows and our president knows. And for some reason, they want to keep people in suspense.”

The drone activity, which was first reported on Nov. 19 by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, caused temporary flight restrictions in New Jersey throughout November and December, notably in Bedminster, New Jersey, where the president’s Bedminster golf club is, and over the Picatinny Arsenal military base.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.

In a groundbreaking announcement during the first White House press briefing of the Trump administration, Press Secretary Leavitt revealed that drones in New Jersey have been officially authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

This development marks a significant step forward in the integration of drones into everyday operations, particularly in the Garden State. With FAA approval, drones in New Jersey can now be used for a wide range of purposes, from commercial and industrial applications to search and rescue missions.

Leavitt emphasized the importance of this authorization, highlighting the potential for drones to revolutionize various industries and enhance public safety efforts. The move also underscores the Trump administration’s commitment to supporting innovation and technological advancements in the United States.

As drones become increasingly prevalent in our daily lives, this announcement sets a positive tone for the future of drone technology in New Jersey and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development and its impact on the state’s drone industry.
