#11 Alabama Crimson Tide (9-3) vs. Michigan Wolverines (7-5)
- When: Tuesday, December 31
- Time: 12 p.m. ET
- Where: Raymond James Stadium (Tampa, Fla.)
- Channel: ESPN
- Stream: FuboTV (Free Trial), Sling, DirecTV Stream
This will be the second year in a row these teams have met in the bowl season. The Wolverines famously took down the Crimson Tide in Nick Saban’s last game as coach in the Rose Bowl last year, punching their ticket to the national championship game.
Michigan also took on Washington, the team they beat in last year’s title game, during Big Ten action, losing in Seattle.
These two teams are in far different positions than they were last year. A lackluster offense has hindered Michigan, though its defense came through in the clutch on multiple occasions, including in their stunning upset over Ohio State to end the regular season. The Crimson Tide were the first team left out of the College Football Playoff, as their losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Oklahoma kept them out of the SEC Championship Game and the CFP.
This will be the Wolverines’ 53rd bowl game in its illustrious history, with the team holding a 23-29 record in the holiday season. Last year’s championship run snapped an eight-year losing streak in bowl games. New Year’s Eve will mark the Crimson Tide’s 78th bowl game. They are 46-28-3 during the season, having not won a bowl game since the 2022 Sugar Bowl.
The Wolverines and Crimson Tide have split the first six all-time meetings. All but one of those games have come in bowl games. Alabama defeated Michigan in the 2020 Citrus Bowl, along with the 1997 Outback Bowl. The Wolverines defeated the Tide in the 2000 Orange Bowl and 1988 Hall of Fame Bowl.

How to watch Michigan State vs. Western Michigan – NCAA men’s basketball (12/30/24) | Channel, stream, preview
Michigan State will close out non-conference play against a familiar face.
After a nine-day break, the No. 18 Spartans (10-2, 2-0 Big Ten) host Western Michigan (3-8, 0-0 MAC) on Monday (3 p.m., BTN) at the Breslin Center. The Broncos are in their third season under coach Dwayne Stephens, who played for the Spartans and spent nearly two decades on Tom Izzo’s staff in East Lansing.
“I’ve got all the faith in him,” Izzo said of Stephens, who will face the Spartans for the first time as a head coach. “I hope he wins a lot of games, just not the one on Monday.”
- Watch Michigan State on FuboTV (7-day free trial)
Michigan State is riding a five-game winning streak and has been off since an 86-69 victory against Florida Atlantic on Dec. 21. The Spartans continue to feature a balanced lineup with guard Jaden Akins (13.3) the only one averaging double digits in scoring. Seven others are at 6.8 or better with 10 players logging at least 13 minutes per game.
Western Michigan has dropped four in a row, including a 76-73 heartbreaker at home to Valparaiso in its last outing on Dec. 20. The Broncos led by 22 points with less than seven minutes remaining in the second half before falling on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from halfcourt. Guard Chansey Willis leads the team in scoring (17.0) after missing the first eight games of the season while others have been sidelined as well.
“They’ve got a couple guys that can really fill it up,” Izzo said. “They’ve got size – they’ve got big size – and I’d say DJ knows their system pretty good. … He’s had a rash of injuries. That’s been the No. 1 thing that’s been a problem.”
Michigan State owns a 28-11 advantage in the all-time series against Western Michigan and has won eight straight dating back to 1982. The Spartans rolled to a 90-46 victory against the Broncos in their last meeting in November 2021.
Following Monday’s game, Michigan State will return to Big Ten play at Ohio State on Friday.

#watch #Michigan #State #Western #Michigan #NCAA #mens #basketball #Channel #stream #previewRaw preview (Dec. 30, 2024): It’s the end of an era in WWE
Raw airs tonight (Dec. 30) with a live show from Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. This is the fifth episode of Raw during the nine week build towards Royal Rumble 2025, which takes place on February 1.
It’s the end of an era in WWE
Tonight is the final episode of WWE Raw on the USA Network before the show moves off cable and over to Netflix for 2025 and beyond.
Raw plans to go out with a bang, with tonight’s big segment advertised as CM Punk and Seth Rollins being “under one roof” to close out 2024. This is the final angle ahead of their (main event?) match on next week’s Netflix debut, so something explosive is all but guaranteed to happen.
Two Men, One Roof doesn’t exactly sound like the kind of PG content I expect from WWE, but I guess all the rules can be thrown out the window as Raw says farewell to the USA Network tonight.
Can General Manager Adam Pearce keep things under control when CM and Seth are under one roof at the same time? Tune into the final episode of Raw on USA to find out.
The rest of the card
Both matches in the semifinal round of the women’s Intercontinental championship tournament are scheduled to take place tonight: Dakota Kai vs. Zoey Stark and IYO SKY vs. Lyra Valkyria. We could be headed to an all Damage CTRL final match next week if Dakota and IYO advance. Stark is really the only heel left, so perhaps her teammates in Pure Fusion Collective will do whatever they can to help her move on. Lyra Valkyria hasn’t competed in a one-on-one match on Raw since the end of September, so we’re still trying to get a sense for how hard WWE will be pushing her (or not) going forward.
Chad Gable vs. Otis is also booked on the card. Gable wants to kill off his old Alpha Academy group for good. He beat Akira Tozawa last week, but will probably need some help from The Creeds to take out his former number one student.
Life has been a BUTCH this month for Pete Dunne. R-Truth keeps calling him by the wrong name and even beat him in a match on Raw earlier this month. Dunne is looking for payback and to break Truth’s jaw in the rematch tonight.
Damian Priest & World Tag Team Champions Erik & Ivar are in six-man tag team competition tonight against Carlito, JD McDonagh, and Finn Balor of The Judgment Day. Carlito and JD should listen to Finn if they want to win, because it will be difficult to beat the babyfaces without taking some shortcuts along the way.
Other stuff to keep an eye on
– Rhea Ripley and Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will fight over the belt next week on Raw’s Netflix debut. Will Rhea send a final message to the champ by injuring that little shithead Dominik Mysterio tonight?
– Sami Uso couldn’t get the job done against Drew McIntyre last week. Is it Jey Uso’s turn to try his luck tonight? Will Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline show up on Raw again to continue targeting the OG Bloodline before next week’s Tribal Combat between Sikoa and Roman Reigns?
– John Cena is returning to Raw next week for the Netflix debut. Will WWE tease the potential return of Becky Lynch as well?
– Is it time for the New Day to respond with violence to Rey Mysterio for rejecting them from the WWE locker room?
– The feud between The Final Testament and Wyatt Sicks is far from over. Will their next big match be announced sometime during tonight’s broadcast? What kind of gimmick or stipulation will it have?
– WWE Intercontinental Champion Bron Breakker and World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER need some new challengers heading into the new year. What about fighting each other?
– Which SmackDown and/or NXT stars will transfer window their asses over to Raw in time for next week’s Netflix debut?
– When are folks going to start declaring for (or wrestling for spots in) the Royal Rumble match?
– Where the f*** is Omos? Last I saw he was busy shopping at the Nintendo store in Tokyo ahead of his tag team championship match there this week. Perhaps he’s spent the last six months sinking hundreds of hours into catching up on The Legend of Zelda series.
What will you be looking for on Raw?
As we head into the final Raw of 2024, it’s the end of an era in WWE. With the year coming to a close, superstars are looking to make a statement and end the year on a high note. One of the biggest storylines heading into tonight’s Raw is the impending retirement of a WWE legend. Fans have been speculating for weeks about who it could be, and tonight, all will be revealed.
In addition to the retirement announcement, there are bound to be some epic matches and moments that will keep fans on the edge of their seats. With rivalries heating up and championships on the line, tonight’s Raw is sure to be one for the history books.
Tune in to Raw tonight to witness the end of an era in WWE, and see what surprises are in store as we say goodbye to 2024.

#Aston #Villa #Brighton #Hove #Albion #Premier #League #preview #team #news #stats #headtohead2025 movie preview: Here are the titles we simply cannot wait for
CNN
—
After a year filled with animated inner emotions, mutants, aliens, gladiators and witches, the new year will bring a crop of new (or, newly revisited) movies to choose from, as always.
Many upcoming films are sequels, reboots and franchise extensions, which can be chalked up to Hollywood’s penchant for playing it safe with known properties, but it’s also a testament to our collective desire to see where things go next for some of our most beloved characters and worlds.
While by no means exhaustive, here is a collection of some of the big movies to look out for in 2025:
It’s all in the title with this one, a Netflix spy movie marking the “return” of two beloved stars – Cameron Diaz, who had stepped away from the Hollywood feature film limelight for about ten years, and Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx, who is back after some health problems. The pair previously teamed up for 2014’s musical “Annie.” “Back in Action” will start streaming on January 17.
After a relatively light year of content – with two welcome 2024 additions, in the movie sphere with “Deadpool & Wolverine” and on television with the deliciously witchy “Agatha All Along” – Marvel is beefing up again, bringing three new films to the MCU in 2025: “Captain America: Brave New World” (a.k.a. Cap’n America 4) in February, “Thunderbolts” in May and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” out on July 25. The latter of these stars Pedro Pascal, “Stranger Things” breakout Joseph Quinn, “The Bear’s” Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Vanessa Kirby, and amounts to the third big studio effort to bring this super-powered quartet to cinematic life (the first effort produced two movies, in 2005 and 2007, with a mostly ill-received reboot in 2015 with Miles Teller and Kate Mara).
Over on the other side of the comic book pond, James Gunn is getting ready to launch his version of the DC Universe in bombastic fashion with “Superman,” previously titled “Superman: Legacy,” starring David Corenswet and “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” Rachel Brosnahan. This month’s teaser trailer previewed some drama and Clark Kent’s little (super)dog, too. “Superman” flies into theaters on July 11, two weeks ahead of “Fantastic Four.” (“Superman” is produced by DC Films, which like CNN is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.)
It’s been six years since visionary Korean director Bong Joon Ho wowed audiences with his Oscar-winning “Parasite.” His followup movie “Mickey 17” is finally coming in April after several delays. The film, which stars Robert Pattinson, looks to be a somewhat irreverent sci-fi comedy that nonetheless tackles some dark and heavy themes, following an “expendable” clone-type being who is tasked with a dangerous mission in outer space. “Mickey 17” docks in theaters on April 18. (The movie is a Warner Bros. Pictures release. The studio, like CNN, is part of Warner Bros. Discovery.)
Speaking of sequels, this latest entry in the ever-expanding “Jurassic Park” dino-verse is getting points solely thanks to the cast, starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, fresh off some “Wicked” success. “Jurassic World: Rebirth” is due on July 2.
From dinosaurs to dragons. Universal and DreamWorks are taking a tip from Disney and reimagining one of their own top-performing animated franchises, which (unbelievably) first came on the scene 15 years ago. The new movie looks to be a faithful live-action adaptation of the first film, based on the book by Cressida Cowell. “How to Train Your Dragon” soars into theaters June 13.
Speaking of big studio efforts to bring older properties back to cinematic life, this “Wolf Man” – not to be confused with 2010’s “The Wolfman” starring Benicio Del Toro – is an update to Universal’s classic monster movie from 1941, this time with “Girls” and “Poor Things” star Christopher Abbott in the hirsute titular role. “Wolf Man” crawls into theaters on January 17.
After the extended success of “Cobra Kai,” which started out on YouTube before finding new life on Netflix, the franchise returns to the big screen just over 40 years after Ralph Macchio first did the crane kick in the original 1984 classic. Jackie Chan is back in the sensei-like role of Mr. Han, a role he first portrayed in the 2010 reboot opposite Jayden Smith. The titular “kid” this time will be played by up-and-coming star Ben Wang. “Legends” hits theaters May 30.
After the blistering success of 2017’s “Paddington 2” (99% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is incredibly rare and impressive for a kid’s movie sequel), it was only a matter of time before we got this threequel, finding the charming stuffed bear Paddington in, well, Peru. Hugh Bonneville, Ben Whishaw and Imelda Staunton are all back for the ride, with Emily Mortimer joining the fun. “Paddington in Peru” comes to theaters on February 14.
The second part of this year’s biggest movie musical event is slated to fly into theaters almost one full year to the day after Part 1 collectively wowed us. The sequel will catch up with now-estranged friends Elphaba and Glinda as they struggle to find their place in the big and wicked world of Oz. “Wicked: For Good” premieres in theaters on November 21, 2025.
After much hype and a fair amount of speculation, the Michael Jackson biopic will hit theaters in the new year, with the King of Pop’s nephew Jaafar Jackson portraying the late superstar. The cast also includes Colman Domingo, Miles Teller, Nia Long and Larenz Tate. Sure to spark many “separate the art from the artist” debates, “Michael” will premiere in theaters on October 3.

“I think I’m in a good place, but there’s still more to want from myself and for my career,” Grigor Dimitrov said as he ended his 2024 campaign on a high. The Bulgarian star had a stellar last season, as he put on impressive performances tournament after tournament. However, the new season presents new challenges and Dimitrov will have to be ready for it if he has to maintain the momentum from the last season. The 33-year-old begins his campaign at Brisbane International against Yannick Hanfmann.
Both Dimitrov and Hanfmann have been around the tour for quite some time now and know what it takes to excel at the highest level. Thus, fans can expect a crackerjack of a contest when they face each other in Brisbane.

Both Dimitrov and Hanfmann have had a contrasting 2024 season. The Bulgarian star has played consistently throughout the season and hardly put a foot wrong. He is the defending champion in Brisbane, having won the title this year. Additionally, he also reached the finals of three other ATP events, including the Miami Masters. Further, in the Grand Slams, Dimitrov had a couple of quarterfinal finishes in the French Open and the US Open. The 33-year-old would be riding high with confidence.

On the other hand, Hanfmann had a forgettable 2024 season. He failed to perform consistently this year and had early exits from the tournaments. Apart from a couple of semifinal finishes, the German star didn’t have any inspiring results in 2024. He will look for redemption when he begins his new campaign against Dimitrov tomorrow.

Dimitrov vs. Hanfmann: Head-to-head
The two veterans have been around the ATP circuit for a long time now, making their professional debuts years ago. However, they have played each other just once before on the ATP Tour. Interestingly, that match came earlier this year at the Miami Open. In the third-round battle there, Dimitrov lost just one game before defeating Hanfmann. The Bulgarian star would be a hot favorite again going into the first-round clash in Brisbane.
Prediction: Dimitrov to have it easy against Hanfmann

Assessing the players’ chances, there is hardly anything going against Dimitrov. He is ranked 10th in the ATP rankings while Hanfmann is just inside the top 100 at the 96th spot. Furthermore, Dimitrov had an impressive win percentage in 2024, winning 46 matches while losing just 18. On the other hand, Hanfmann won just 20 of the 41 matches that he played in 2024.
Subsequently, Dimitrov also has a winning history against Hanfmann, which should give him an upper hand in this match. Dimitrov is expected to win this match in straight sets tomorrow. It’ll be interesting to see if Hanfmann can turn the tide against a rampant Dimitrov in Brisbane. But the Bulgarian is the firm favorite.
ATP Brisbane: Grigor Dimitrov vs Yannick Hanfmann; Preview, Head-To-Head, and PredictionIn the first round of the ATP Brisbane tournament, former world number three Grigor Dimitrov will take on German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann.
Dimitrov, a talented and versatile player, has struggled with consistency in recent years but has shown flashes of his top form. With a strong serve and powerful groundstrokes, the Bulgarian will be looking to start his season on a high note with a win over Hanfmann.
On the other hand, Hanfmann, ranked 123rd in the world, has been making strides on the tour and will be eager to cause an upset against the higher-ranked Dimitrov. The German has a solid all-around game and will look to push Dimitrov to his limits.
In their head-to-head matchups, Dimitrov holds a 2-0 advantage over Hanfmann, with their last meeting coming in 2018. However, Hanfmann has been improving since then and will be looking to level the playing field in this match.
Prediction: While Hanfmann has been playing well, Dimitrov’s experience and skill level should give him the edge in this match. Expect a competitive battle, but ultimately Dimitrov should come out on top in straight sets.

ASB Classic: Sloane Stephens vs Ann Li; Preview, Head-to-Head, and Prediction
Are you ready for the all-American clash at the 2025 ASB Classic? American superstar, Sloane Stephens is all set to take on the youngster, Ann Li in the first round (R32). Stephens won this tournament in 2016! However, recently she has been struggling a bit with some injuries and a lack of form. Can the 24-year-old Ann Li put up an extraordinary brand of tennis and stun this experienced campaigner in Auckland?
Sloane Stephens vs Ann Li: Preview
Despite her struggles, Sloane Stephens managed to clinch a title this year. It came at the Open de Rouen, where she defeated Poland’s Magda Linette in the final by 6-1,2-6,6-2. Apart from that, there haven’t been any noteworthy performances from the 31-year-old in the last season. She was last seen in action on the Tour at the Korea Open. However, over there she faced an early exit at the hands of her compatriot Hailey Baptiste. Can she make a strong start to her 2025 season by clinching a victory against the other compatriot?

Ann Li, on the other hand, won a title at the WTA 125K Valencia, ES and then she reached the final of the Swedish Open. However, over there she was defeated by Italy’s Martina Trevisan by 2-6,2-6. After that, she even reached the final of the W60 Las Vegas, NV 45A and Merida Open Akron, but in both cases, she failed to deliver when it mattered the most. Ann Li is entering this match following her R32 loss to Australia’s Astra Sharma at the WTA 125K Midland, US in November.
Stephens vs Li: Head-to-Head
Sloane Stephens has faced Ann Li only once in her career. She currently has a lead of 1-0 over the youngster and it’ll be interesting to see if Stephens can extend the lead further with a win in this match or will Li put things on level terms with the 2017 US Open champion.

- 2023 Guadalajara R64: Stephens 7-5,6-4.
Prediction: Stephens to win in three sets
Both the players didn’t have an outstanding season in 2024, so surely they’ll be keen to make a better run in 2025. Sloane Stephens (74) has a win-loss record of 19-21 this season. On the other hand, Ann Li (96) has a win-loss record of just 7-5 on the main Tour. Stephens might be struggling a bit with her form recently, but we can’t deny her class and she has vast experience on the women’s Tour. So, we’re picking experience over the flare from the young campaigner!

Now, if we take a look at their playing styles, Ann Li loves playing in quicker conditions and likes hitting the ball big. We often see her taking control of the baseline and there’s no doubt that she’d be looking to do the same against Stephens as well!
Sloane Stephens on the other hand is known for her all-court game. Even she likes staying behind the baseline, relying on her athleticism to counter her opponents. Sloane Stephens can also generate a lot of power in her shots and can swiftly turn defense into offense. However, her biggest concern has been a high number of double faults. She has hit 31 aces this season and committed 62 double faults! Apart from this, we feel Stephens has more weapons to win this battle than the young American. So, we’re going with Sloane Stephens in this epic battle in Auckland!
ASB Classic: Sloane Stephens vs Ann Li; Preview, Head-to-Head, and PredictionIn what promises to be an exciting match-up at the ASB Classic, former US Open champion Sloane Stephens will take on rising star Ann Li in the upcoming round. Both players have had solid starts to the season and will be looking to continue their winning ways in this highly anticipated clash.
Sloane Stephens, currently ranked 31st in the world, has had a strong start to the year with a quarterfinal appearance at the Adelaide International. Known for her powerful baseline game and athleticism, Stephens will be looking to dictate play and put pressure on her opponent with her aggressive style of play.
On the other hand, Ann Li, ranked 65th in the world, has been making waves on the tour with her impressive performances. The 21-year-old American has already reached the quarterfinals of the Yarra Valley Classic and will be looking to continue her good form against Stephens.
In terms of head-to-head record, Stephens and Li have never faced each other on the WTA tour, making this match even more intriguing. With both players in good form and hungry for success, it’s hard to predict who will come out on top in this encounter.
Prediction: This match is likely to be a closely contested battle between two talented players. While Stephens has the experience and firepower to trouble Li, the young American has been playing with confidence and could cause an upset. In what could be a three-set thriller, I predict Ann Li to come out on top in a hard-fought match.
