Pistons vs Kings preview: Attack another Californian team
There’s nothing like two middle-of-the-pack teams going at it a day after Christmas. A gift for all. These teams are eager to prove they can play on the big stage, too. The Detroit Pistons have been rolling prior to the Christmas Day slate. They’re riding a two-game winning streak over formidable foes and look to slap around another California team in the 13-17 Sacramento Kings.
Game Vitals
When: 10:00 pm ET
Where: Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California
Watch: FanDuel Sports Network Detroit
Odds: Pistons +6Analysis
Hoping to avoid missing a fourth straight game, Iasiah Stewart is questionable to lace up tonight. Ron Holland joins him on the injury report with an illness, and he is questionable, too. Jalen Duren, who’s seen an uptick in minutes with Stew out, is probable to play as he deals with an ankle sprain.
Being without the two bigs would be massive against a team like the Kings, who have an All-Star center in Domontas Sabonis. The versatile big man puts up 21 points, 13.5 boards, and six assists on 60/41/79 splits. He’s dealing with an illness and is questionale to go tonight. The Kings lose part of their one-two punch if Sabonis is out. Paul Reed, who noticeably frustrated Anthony Davis, will be a thorn in Sabonis’ side if Sabonis does play and one of Stew or Duren doesn’t.
The other member of that duo will surely stress the defense tonight. De’Aaron Fox has been a blur since he came onto the scene in 2017 and remains one of the fastest players in the league. At 6-3, Fox routinely blows by defenders to get to the rim, where he’s shooting a wing-like 71%. Jaden Ivey, Asaur Thompson, and Holland (if he plays) need extra grip on their kicks tonight. Holland and Thompson specifically mucked up the Lakers game and helped bring that one home.
Cade Cunningham bought it on that side of the ball against LeBron and company. It’s infectious when your franchise pillar is contesting shots and making second efforts. Cade’s shot wasn’t falling against a suspect Lakers defense, so expect things to even out the 15th-ranked Kings defense with no go-to stoppers (Keegan Murray is solid, and Keon Ellis doesn’t play as much as he should).
DeMar DeRozan doesn’t help the King’s defensive infrastructure, but man, is he still a bucket. His 20 points per game have the Kings plus-1 with him on and off the court, per PBP stats. Derozan’s methodical mid-range approach hasn’t slowed down the King’s pace— they were 6th last year compared to 8th now. This very well may be a high-scoring thriller.
The Pistons offense has been slightly better than their hot-start defense. The offense hasn’t been anything to gloat about, but they’re coming off two impressive offensive performances against the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns. Ivey was steady in those two outings after he missed the two games before those. His consistency is a forever talking point, and he can put together another great performance against a Kings team that struggles to contain off-guards.
Projected Lineups
Detroit Pistons (13-17)
Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Tim Hardaway Jr., Tobias Harris, Jalen Duren
Sacramento Kings (13-17)
De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, DeMar Derozan, Keegan Murray, Domantas Sabonis
Question of the day:
How should the Pistons use their cap space as the trade deadline approaches?
The Detroit Pistons are set to take on the Sacramento Kings in a highly anticipated matchup. As the Pistons continue their West Coast road trip, they will be looking to attack another Californian team and secure a crucial win.The Kings have been struggling as of late, and the Pistons will be looking to take advantage of their opponent’s weaknesses. With key players such as Jerami Grant and Cade Cunningham leading the charge, the Pistons have the firepower to come out on top in this matchup.
It will be important for the Pistons to maintain their defensive intensity and limit the Kings’ scoring opportunities. By controlling the pace of the game and executing their offensive game plan, the Pistons have a great chance to come away with a victory.
Be sure to tune in to see the Pistons take on the Kings and watch as they attack another Californian team in their quest for a win. Let’s go Pistons! #DetroitBasketball #PistonsvsKings #NBAPreview.

Bucks vs. Nets Preview, Start Time, TV Schedule & Injury Report
Tonight, the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Brooklyn Nets for the third time this season in a game that will likely look quite different than their previous two meetings. The first game, which was right at the beginning of Milwaukee’s 2-8 start, went to the Nets. However, the Bucks took the next game a few weeks ago in an exhilarating finish. What charms will this third meeting have in store?
Where We’re At
The Bucks recovered well after their post-Cup drubbing to the Cavaliers, banking wins against the Wizards and Bulls. Notably, both wins came without Giannis Antetokounmpo or Damian Lillard (illness), which meant others had to step up. Bobby Portis and Khris Middleton led the charge in both instances for Milwaukee, but key contributions from a host of role players (too many to mention, frankly) have allowed the team to keep winning. While the level of competition hasn’t been overwhelming it is a welcome sight to see the Bucks depth get them through winnable games.
For the Nets, it has been a different story of late. They traded away their key offensive engine, Dennis Schröder, at the first opportunity because, let’s be honest, he was winning them way too many games. To be clear, Brooklyn was faltering before trading Schröder but have dropped three of their last four games without him, losing most recently to the Heat, Jazz, and Cavaliers, while winning against the Raptors. Catch the extended recap from the Heat game here. Down a leading ball handler and creator, the next few weeks in Brooklyn are likely to be focused on more trade market shenanigans rather than gunning for wins. Still, an NBA opponent is an NBA opponent.
Injury Report
For Milwaukee, Khris Middleton is listed as probable (bilateral ankle surgery). Giannis is listed as questionable (back spasms), as is Damian Lillard (illness). AJ Johnson and Chris Livingston are both out (illness).
Brooklyn’s injury list is quite a bit longer. The following players are out: Bojan Bogdanović, De’Anthony Melton, Cam Thomas, Trendon Watford, and Ziaire Williams. Dorian Finney-Smith and Ben Simmons are both listed as questionable. The tank is truly on.
Player To Watch
With Schröder gone and Thomas out, the Nets are going to look for new guys to provide scoring. I considered Tyrese Martin, who dropped 30 points against the Suns on 8/10 from three last month. But Martin has been relatively quiet lately, so let’s go with Noah Clowney. The 2023 first-round pick got spot minutes in his rookie year, but has been given much more burn this season. There seems to have been a clear directive from the organisation to turn him into a stretch-five. Clowney raised his three-point attempts from 1.4 last season to 4.9 this season, and he’s making them at a 36% clip. The Bucks must be ready for that.

The Washington Wizards on Thursday will look to make it two in a row against the Charlotte Hornets at Capital One Arena.
Game info
When: Thursday, December 26 at 7:00 PM ET
Where: Capital One Arena
How to watch: Monumental/NBA League Pass; Also on the Bullets Forever Playback
Injuries
Washington — Marvin Bagley III (Out – Knee), Kyle Kuzma (Out – Rib), Saddiq Bey (Out – Knee), Bilal Coulibaliy (Questionable – Groin), Carlton Carrington (Questionable – Hip), Alex Sarr (Questionable – Lower Back),
Charlotte — Tre Mann (Out – Disc), Grant Williams (Out – Knee), Brandon Miller (Questionable – Ankle)
Game Notes
The Wizards are coming off back-to-back double-digit losses against the Milwaukee Bucks and Oklahoma City Thunder, the two finalists of this year’s NBA Cup. But before that, Washington was able to scratch out a win over the very same Charlotte team they’re set to face on Thursday.
The Hornets are one of the few teams in arguably worse form than the Wizards at present. The visitors have lost five in a row and are 1-13 over their last 14 games.
Charlotte may again be without Brandon Miller, who is still dealing with an ankle injury. Washington, however, may also be short-handed as Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr, and Bub Carrington are all listed as questionable for the contest.
Sarr had one of the best games of his young career during the teams’ previous matchup. He tallied 19 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks in the 123-114 affair.
The Washington Wizards are gearing up to take on the Charlotte Hornets for the second time this season, and they’ll be looking to secure their second win over their Eastern Conference rivals. In their previous matchup, the Wizards came out on top with a dominant performance, and they’ll be aiming to replicate that success in their upcoming game. With key players like Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook leading the charge, the Wizards have shown flashes of brilliance on both ends of the court. Their high-powered offense and improved defense have been key factors in their recent success, and they’ll be looking to continue building momentum against the Hornets.
On the other hand, the Hornets will be looking to bounce back from their previous loss to the Wizards and prove that they can compete with the best teams in the East. With young stars like LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier leading the way, the Hornets have shown that they have the talent and potential to make some noise in the conference.
It’s sure to be an exciting matchup between these two teams, and fans can expect a high-energy game with plenty of highlight-reel plays. Will the Wizards come out on top once again, or will the Hornets exact their revenge? Be sure to tune in to find out!

Eagles vs. Cowboys preview: Watch this live NFC East Mixtape special episode
This is a weird Dallas Week.
In most years, a Week 17 game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys is a high-stakes, prime-time battle that determines the winner of the NFC East.
This season, there just isn’t a lot of juice for this matchup. And that sentiment is echoed by the start time getting flexed up from 4:25 PM Eastern to 1:00 PM. People aren’t exactly dying to see what might be Kenny Pickett or Tanner McKee vs. Cooper Rush.
But while this game doesn’t mean much for the Cowboys, who’ve already been officially eliminated from playoff contention, the Eagles obviously have serious motivation in this spot. With either a win or tie, the Birds will officially clinch their division and no worse than the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoff picture.
In order to preview this game and also discuss bigger picture Eagles/Cowboys topics, I’ll be getting together with my frenemy RJ Ochoa from Blogging The Boys for a live special episode of the NFC East Mixtape.
The show starts tonight, Thursday, December 26 at 9:00 PM Eastern. Some counter-programming to Thursday Night Football.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Offensive position preview
From everyone at Blogging The Boys we hope you and your families all had a fantastic Christmas. It’s now time to get back into it and look ahead at this weekend’s game with the Dallas Cowboys taking on fierce division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. These two teams are in very different places, one team has had a season to forget with a string of unfortunate injuries. The other is high flying and only has lost three games this season. So how do both these teams offenses stack against each other? Let’s break it down by position as we do every week here on the Position Battleground.
QUARTERBACK
Cooper Rush
vs.
Jalen HurtsCooper Rush had another good game, and although he came close to throwing an interception, he never turned the ball over. Without CeeDee Lamb on the field the offense did drop off but Rush was still able to manage the game and help produce a win. His touchdown pass to Jalen Tolbert was very nice, and Rush got rookie Ryan Flournoy involved last week against Tampa Bay.
Jalen Hurts leads the entire NFL in rushing touchdowns. He now has 14 rushing touchdowns this season which is more than every other quarterback and matches running back James Cook. As a passer, however, Hurts’ production isn’t all that impressive. He ranks 20th in passing yards and completions, 16th in passing touchdowns and has been sacked the fifth-most number of times this year.
Conclusion:
Last week, Hurts left the game at the start due to a concussion and is now in concussion protocol. That means there’s a chance he won’t play. If he doesn’t play then this position battle becomes a push since Eagles backup quarterback, Kenny Pickett, is also questionable due to a rib injury.
Win: Eagles (if Hurts plays, or this is a push)Photo by Scott Taetsch/Getty Images
RUNNING BACK
Rico Dowdle/Ezekiel Elliott
vs.
Saquon Barkley/Kenneth GainwellThe streak finally came to an end last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as Rico Dowdle failed to rush for over 100-yards in a game since Week 13. It wasn’t just the efforts of the Tampa Bay defensive line that held Dowdle back, but the offensive strategy also played its part. The Buccaneers defense hasn’t been bad at defending the run but one of worst at stopping the pass. That meant Dowdle had a day where he only rushed for 23 yards, but he did catch three passes for 28 yards. Ezekiel Elliott had a touchdown off a goal line plunge from the one-yard line, it was his only carry of the game meaning he had one rush for one yard and one touchdown.
The Eagles offense is completely predicated on the running game and the fact they are the number rushing team this year shows how committed they are to running the ball. Hurts adds to the team total of rushing yards, but it’s Saquon Barkley who steals the show here. Barkley leads the league in rushing by a large margin and will more than likely hit the 2,000 yard mark this season which is an insane benchmark. Barkley’s 5.9 yards per carry is the most among all running backs (minimum 100 carries). He’s also second among all running backs in rushing touchdowns (and one less than Hurts), and he’s first in explosive plays among all running backs. It’s been a monumental season, and one that most New York Giants fans will be seething over.
Conclusion:
The Cowboys face the daunting task of trying to hold back the incessant tide of Barkley and Hurts as they chew up field with their running game. The Cowboys defense has a huge weakness and that’s in stopping the run. They rank sixth-last in stopping the run this year.

WIDE RECEIVERS
CeeDee Lamb/Brandin Cooks/KaVontae Turpin
vs.
A.J. Brown/DeVonta Smith/Jahan DotsonCeeDee Lamb is the spearhead of this offense, without him things don’t look as good. Even with missing time last week against the Buccaneers, Lamb was still able to go for over 100-yards receiving. He reached the benchmark before halftime and became the first Cowboys wide receiver to go over 100 yards receiving before halftime in consecutive games. Jalen Tolbert has scored a touchdown in consecutive games now, but keep an eye on his practice report as he injured his finger midway through the Tampa Bay game. We also need to wait out on any news with Jalen Brooks. He was inactive last week with a knee issue.
A.J. Brown leads the Eagles in receiving and broke the 1000-yard mark last week. He’s quite some distance behind Lamb in terms of receptions and yards, but he has scored six touchdowns which is the equal amount as Lamb. Brown now has over 200 yards and two touchdowns in his last two games. DeVonta Smith had a good start to the season but his production took a big dip for the majority or the mid-season schedule, even managing to produce a game where he went for -2 receiving yards. Jahan Dotson has had a very quiet season and has managed to catch one reception in his last three games.
Conclusion:
Lamb is the leader of the pack between both these team’s receivers. But the Eagles also have a better one-two punch at the receiver position. KaVontae Turpin and the rise of Jalen Tolbert recently have given Dallas mroe options than they had.
Win: PushPhoto by Cooper Neill/Getty Images
TIGHT END
Jake Ferguson
vs.
Grant CalcaterraJake Ferguson finished second in receptions last week against Tampa Bay. He went for 40 yards and picked up an important first down. He worked hard as a run blocker but as a receiver he still has yet to score a touchdown this year.
Grant Calcaterra is in for the injured Dallas Goedert who is now on injured reserve. Calcaterra made zero receptions last week and was targeted zero times.
Conclusion:
Since stepping into the starting role due to Goedert’s injury, Calcaterra has made four receptions for 38 yards. But he has scored a touchdown.
Win: CowboysPhoto by Cooper Neill/Getty Images
OFFENSIVE LINE
We saw an interesting starting five on the offensive line last week. Tyler Guyton was on the bench while Chuma Edoga started at left tackle. Tyler Smith and Cooper Beebe played at their respective positions while Brock Hoffman played the right guard spot with Zack Martin shutdown for the year. And Terence Steele remained at his position at right tackle. The one player that did struggle against Tampa was Brock Hoffman. He had issues both in the passing and running game and committed two penalties.
But the entire offensive line allowed only one sack all day. The one sack Tampa did get saw the entire defensive line break through to get to Cooper Rush making it hard to put the blame on the sack on any one player.
This week they face the Eagles who have 40 sacks this year, that eighth-most, but have only managed to create 104 pressures this year, that’s the seventh-fewest. Where this Cowboys offensive line will have problems though is in the run game. The Eagles defense has done very well in stopping the run and have allowed the ninth-fewest rush yards this year. Asim Richards, who has been on injured reserve, has been designated to return so keep a watch on his practice report this week.
The Eagles offensive line has had their work cut out this season. With Hurts looking to run more than pass it has led to a number of forced sacks, but even with Hurts out this line has been leaking. Last week against Washington, this offensive line allowed four sacks and 11 pressures. This season they have allowed the ninth-most sacks.
Where this offensive line comes into its own is in the run game. They are an extremely talented run-blocking group with starting left tackle Jordan Mailata leading the way. Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson both add to the firepower in run blocking and this entire line is a physical and aggressive unit. What has also helped this starting five is the lack of injuries, where they haven’t had any. By keeping the starting five you create a cohesiveness that helps bring consistency, and that’s exactly what the Eagles have this season. The end result is the top team when it comes to running the ball.

The highly anticipated matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles is just around the corner, and fans are buzzing with excitement. In this post, we’ll take a closer look at the offensive positions of both teams to see how they stack up against each other.Quarterback:
The Cowboys have Dak Prescott leading their offense, who has proven himself as a top quarterback in the league. He has been efficient in the passing game and has the ability to make plays with his legs as well. On the other side, the Eagles have Jalen Hurts, who has shown flashes of brilliance but is still relatively inexperienced compared to Prescott.Running Back:
Dallas boasts one of the best running backs in the league in Ezekiel Elliott. He is a powerful runner who can break tackles and make big plays. The Eagles, on the other hand, have Miles Sanders, who has shown promise but has struggled with consistency throughout his career.Wide Receiver:
The Cowboys have a talented group of receivers, including Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup. They have a good mix of speed, route-running ability, and hands. The Eagles have DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor, and Travis Fulgham, who have potential but need to show more consistency and production on the field.Tight End:
Dallas has a reliable tight end in Dalton Schultz, who has been a reliable target for Prescott. The Eagles have Dallas Goedert, who is a solid pass-catcher and blocker but has been plagued by injuries in the past.Overall, both teams have talented offensive players, but the Cowboys seem to have the edge with their more established and consistent players. It will be interesting to see how these two offenses match up on game day. Be sure to tune in to the game to see which team comes out on top in this exciting divisional matchup.

#Dallas #Cowboys #Philadelphia #Eagles #Offensive #position #preview2025 World Junior Hockey Championship: Team Sweden preview
When Rasmus Bergqvist was selected in the seventh round by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2024 NHL Draft, not many people knew who he was. Many still don’t — and that includes most Swedish hockey writers. However, as the injury list grew for Skellefteå AIK, Bergqvist’s responsibilities increased and he’ running with his chance to play in the SHL.
Bergqvist reminds me a lot about former Canadien Peter Popovic, though tougher and meaner, and his game should suit the North American rinks. He is stable defensively and plays that game very well. It will be interesting to see him against his peers.
His solid defensive game was a perfect match to the offensive flair that his defence partner, Axel Sandin-Pellikka, provides. That said, his game is sound enough on its own that he could play with any of the defencemen as the secure lock and that pairing would be one of the cornerstones of Team Sweden in this tournament
Strengths
While Bergqvist is an important piece, Sandin-Pellikka is the star of the team. The returning defenceman was selected as the best blue-liner in previous World Under-18 and Under-20 tournaments. He leads the SHL in points by a defenceman by three, ahead of more seasoned professionals. His overall game has become even better compared to last year, and Sweden’s offence will continue to run through him.
Tom Willander and Theo Lindstein will bring some high-quality defence into the tournament, but even with their pedigree they will be in the shadow of Sandin-Pellikka from the outset. The question is if their star can be enough of a difference-maker to win gold.
Looking at the forwards, there are offensively gifted players such as Felix Unger Sörum, David Edstrom, and Otto Stenberg. Recognition is due for one my personal favourites, Felix Nilsson, for a great year in Rögle, and who has been on the Eyes On The Prize radar since before the 2023 NHL Draft.
Victor Eklund, a 2025 draft-eligible, will be the joker that Sweden will rise and fall with. He is top-10 ranked in all preliminary rankings for the upcoming NHL draft. He brings a lot to the table and 15 points (8G, 7A) in 28 games in Sweden’s HockeyAllsvenskan.
Weaknesses
Sweden might have left its best goalie at home. Olof Glifford has had to play for HV71 in the SHL due to injuries, and he has been outstanding. He came in when HV71 was far in arrears in the table and has posted a .956 save percentage and 1.17 goals-against average in five games, with one shutout, dragging the team out the doldrums and into the fight to avoid the relegation series. Marcus Gidlöf has played eight games for Leksand and has been solid, bit not out-of-this-world hot like Glifford, and the other two goalies are there to make up numbers.
Sweden also has a lack of depth. For all the offensive flair that can be seen on the two top lines, the question is if the bottom two can keep it together. None of the names really scream success.
Since Magnus Hävelid took over as coach of the Swedish “Junior Crowns” he has finished third (2022), fourth (2023) and, last year, second. Those are impressive results to say the least, even if gold continues to elude the team. Hävelid has favoured the two-and-two approach: two lines to score and two lines to keep things clean. It doesn’t give a lot of options if injuries or lack of form hits, as the difference between the top and bottom of the squad is as wide as the Atlantic. I am also not sure about Hävelid’s strengths as a matchup coach. I rarely see him moving players up and down the lineup, or line-matching to success. This is partly up to team selection, and the lack of high-end depth in the Swedish system at the moment.
Projection
Sweden will reach the playoffs for sure, but could meet the same fate as Canada at last year’s tournament and fall to a hot team in the quarter-finals. Sweden has the talent to reach the semis on the top two lines alone, however that’s what will dictate their level of success. The question is less about if they can claim the title, and more if Sweden will win a medal of any colour.
The 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship is just around the corner, and Team Sweden is gearing up to compete for the prestigious title. With a rich history of success in international competitions, Sweden is always a strong contender in junior hockey tournaments.Led by head coach Johan Garpenlöv, Team Sweden boasts a talented roster of young and skilled players. The team is expected to showcase their trademark speed, skill, and teamwork on the ice, making them a formidable opponent for any team in the tournament.
Key players to watch include top NHL draft prospects, such as forward Lucas Raymond and defenseman Simon Edvinsson. Both players are known for their offensive prowess and defensive capabilities, making them crucial assets for Team Sweden’s success in the championship.
In goal, goaltender Jesper Wallstedt is expected to anchor the team’s defense with his exceptional reflexes and positioning. Wallstedt’s ability to make big saves in crucial moments will be vital for Team Sweden’s chances of lifting the trophy.
Overall, Team Sweden is shaping up to be a strong contender in the 2025 World Junior Hockey Championship. With a blend of skill, speed, and determination, the team is poised to make a deep run in the tournament and compete for the gold medal. Stay tuned for exciting games and memorable moments as Team Sweden takes on the world’s best junior hockey teams in pursuit of glory.

2025 World Junior Championship Group B preview
The 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship will be held in Ottawa, from Dec. 26-Jan. 5. Today, we preview the Group B preliminary-round bracket.
Sweden is looking for its first gold medal at the World Juniors since 2012, and powering that bid will be nine players who won a silver medal at the 2024 WJC.
That includes two St. Louis Blues prospects who should play significant roles, forward Otto Stenberg and defenseman Theo Lindstein.
Stenberg, selected by the Blues with the No. 25 pick of the 2023 NHL Draft, led Sweden with five goals in seven games at the 2024 WJC, and his nine points are the most among the returning players. Lindstein, the No. 29 pick of the 2023 draft, led all defensemen at the tournament with eight points (two goals, six assists) in seven games.
“For the group, they are my key players because they have good leadership and they’re both good, skilled players,” Sweden coach Magnus Havelid said. “So of course they can help us at big moments and to be a steady team.”
Lindstein has four points (two goals, two assists) in 23 games with Brynas in his first season in the Swedish Hockey League. Stenberg has six points (three goals, three assists) in 25 SHL games with Malmo.
“We’re great buddies outside the ice, and we have been together now for a couple of years here in the national team,” Lindstein said. “So it’s fun that we got drafted into the same team too. So it’s always nice to have a couple of guys here who have been here before, and so it’s always fun to have him here.”
Lindstein is expected to carry a heavy load on defense along with two other returning defensemen, Axel Sandin-Pellikka (Detroit Red Wings) and Tom Willander (Vancouver Canucks).

Platforms like Twitter and Facebook have been instrumental in organizing protests and raising awareness about important issues. However, social media activism also has its limitations, as it can sometimes be superficial and fail to lead to meaningful change.
Overall, social media has had both positive and negative impacts on society. It has revolutionized communication, changed the way people consume news, and empowered individuals to raise awareness about important issues.
