Posted in: Amazon Studios, TV | Tagged: prime video, Reacher

Prime Video previewed the Alan Ritchson-starring series adaptation of Lee Child’s Jack Reacher novels in its new February 2025 trailer.

With less than three weeks to go until the Alan Ritchson-starring series adaptation of Lee Child‘s Jack Reacher novels returns for a third season, Prime Video is offering us a look at the upcoming season as part of its “New to Prime Video: February 2025” trailer which dropped earlier today. Previously, we were treated to images of Ritchson’s Jack, Anthony Michael Hall‘s businessman Zachary Beck, “The Dutch Giant” Olivier Richters‘ bodyguard Paulie, Sonya Cassidy‘s DEA Agent Susan Duffy, Roberto Montesinos‘ veteran DEA Agent Guillermo Villanueva, and Maria Sten‘s Frances Neagley (of soon-to-be spinoff fame). Now, we’re getting a look at Reacher in all sorts of danger…

You can check out the look at Prime Video’s Reacher Season 3 beginning at around the 3:05 mark:

Reacher Season 3: Some Things You Should Know…

Back in January 2024, we learned that the third season would be tackling Lee Child‘s seventh novel, 2003’s Persuader, with Reacher going undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past. In February, we learned that Anthony Michael Hall and Sonya Cassidy were joining Ritchson and the returning Maria Sten (Frances Neagley) during the currently-in-production season. Hall’s Zachary Beck is a formidable & successful businessman  – and a widow and single father of a 20-year-old son, Richard – who owns a rug import company that Reacher believes is a cover for some shady dealings. Cassidy’s Susan Duffy is an extremely intelligent and tough DEA agent from Boston with a sharp and sarcastic sense of humor.

In March 2024, we learned that Brian Tee had joined the cast in the series regular role of Quinn. A physically imposing and intimidating character, Quinn was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army whom Reacher (Ritchson) investigated a decade prior when he sold military secrets to hostile nations. In addition, Johnny Berchtold was cast in the series regular role of Richard Beck, a sensitive and artistic college student who lost his mother when he was young and is the only son of businessman Zachary Beck (Hall). Five years ago, he was the victim of a traumatic kidnapping that left him mutilated.

Roberto Montesinos‘ series regular Guillermo Villanueva is a DEA agent on the verge of retirement who has served as the mentor and father figure of Agent Susan Duffy (Cassidy). Paunchy with bad knees and a good-natured sense of humor, Villanueva loves and cares about Duffy – even though they bust each other’s chops all the time. Daniel David Stewart‘s recurring Steven Elliot is a clean-cut rookie DEA agent – a lovable guy who’s fresh-faced, new to the job, and still learning. In addition, we learned that “The Dutch Giant” Olivier Richters (Black Widow, Borderlands) has joined the cast as Paulie – one of Beck’s bodyguards and 7 feet, 2 inches of trouble for Jack.

  • Vinessa Vidotto Reacts to Vo Being Shot, Previews Midseason Premiere

When FBI: International headed into its midseason break, it did so with the fate of one of the Fly Team very much up in the air: Vo (Vinessa Vidotto) was shot in the pursuit of Csonka (Beau Knapp), the man responsible for Wes’ (Jesse Lee Soffer) partner’s death.

“It was shocking, but I guess it was Vo’s turn because the past four years everybody has kind of been shot. Smitty [Eva-Jane Willis] got shot, Heida [Reed, who played Kellett] was shot. So yeah, I was like, I guess it’s my turn,” Vidotto tells TV Insider with a laugh. “It was shocking, but the script was so delicious and prior to me getting shot, I was able to do really delicious scenes that I was able to take my time with. So yeah, I loved [Episode] 8 a lot.”

Vidotto raves about an earlier scene in that episode (written by Edgar Castillo) in which Vo faces off with Csonka during a meeting while he’s still behind bars; he escaped during a prisoner transport after a deal was made due to evidence that had been uncovered during the trial.

“Those were scenes that I was excited to wake up and go to work and do. There is a certain limit where you don’t want to keep doing the take over and over again. It’s just killing the actor. But I didn’t mind,” shares Vidotto. “I was like, I could keep playing around with this. It just feels good and we were able to slow it down and the lines are so delicious. The story is delicious and I really got to show off Vo’s skill as an interrogator. That’s one of her breakdown points, that she’s good at interrogations, and I missed that. I think Season 2, there was one, [“Call It Anarchy”], written by Rachael Joyce, directed by Milena [Govich], and I had the lie detector kit and it was so fun to whip that out. When things are written well and the actor gets excited by it, that’s when it’s a good story and it’s a good scene and it’s not work. It’s just a joy to perform.”

Filming that shooting in the midseason finale was a first for Vidotto, who details the “technique, like a dance, a choreography,” to moments like that. “Your body has to move in the right way,” she explains, praising the stunt team. “I’ve done training in college, hand-to-hand combat, so there’s all that reaction and stuff, but never being shot. So I had to learn on the day. [The stunt coordinators] really helped me pop the shoulder and we did several takes and I had to learn that for TV, slow is fast, which means you can’t do it in real time or else the camera can’t catch your reaction of you being shot and taking that in. How do you embody that, but allow the camera to hold onto your face for a few seconds before you fall to the ground?”

The star explains she watched movie clips of people getting shot as well as a documentary of what it’s like to get shot. “There’s so many different reactions,” she says. “It can be immediately excruciating where it’s really hot and painful or people don’t know that they’ve been shot or stabbed just because of the adrenaline, just how their body is. I just took my own interpretation from learning those things. It was fun. I got to check that off my bucket list.”

Fans will have to wait until the midseason premiere on January 28 to learn Vo’s fate; Vidotto won’t even hint at what’s to come with her character. But the rest of the Fly Team will be busy trying to find Csonka.

“Csonka ends up fleeing to Paris and everybody’s trying to go after him,” teases Vidotto. “That is going to be an epic episode. I mean, a manhunt in Paris? That’s pretty awesome. And it’s almost like a three-parter: It was from Episode 1 to Episode 8 to Episode 9. You get to follow a really big story, and I like that.”

FBI: International, Midseason Premiere, Tuesday, January 28, 9/8c, CBS

Vinessa Vidotto, who plays Vo on the hit TV show “The Flash,” recently took to social media to share her reaction to Vo being shot in the midseason finale. The shocking cliffhanger left fans on the edge of their seats, wondering about Vo’s fate.

In a heartfelt post, Vidotto expressed her gratitude for the incredible journey she has had playing Vo and teased what fans can expect from the upcoming midseason premiere. She promised that the episode will be filled with twists and turns, and that Vo’s storyline will take a surprising turn.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of “The Flash,” and Vidotto’s post has only heightened their anticipation. With Vo’s fate hanging in the balance, viewers are sure to be glued to their screens as they wait to see how the story unfolds.

Stay tuned for the midseason premiere of “The Flash” to see what happens to Vo and how Vidotto’s character will navigate the challenges ahead. It’s sure to be an episode you won’t want to miss! #VinessaVidotto #TheFlash #VoShot #MidseasonPremiere

  • Louisville HC Pat Kelsey Previews Wake Forest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Louisville men’s basketball program is one of the hottest teams in college basketball right now.

After starting the season at 6-5, the Cardinals and first-year head coach Pat Kelsey have fired off nine wins in a row. Not only is this UofL’s longest winning streak in five years, they’re now ranked for the first time in four years, and still hold second place in the ACC standings.

“We make a point every single day to make the next thing we do the most important thing, and we stack that
on top of each other again and again and again and again,” head coach Pat Kelsey said. “I’m a big believer that that’s how you create and have consistent results, not guaranteed results, but consistent results.”

After having a week off from their last game at SMU, Louisville will be back in action and hosting Wake Forest. The Demon Deacons are also one of the better teams in the ACC, previously winning six-in-a-row before narrowly falling to Duke this past Saturday.

“This is one of the best teams in our league, and it’s obvious,” Kelsey said of Wake Forest. “It jumps out on tape just how talented they are. They have an older veteran team, they have a First-Team All-Conference player, and probably have another one as well.”

Prior to their matchup with the Demon Deacons, Kelsey, took time to meet with the media on the weekly ACC Coaches Conference Call. He discussed the previous game at SMU, previewed the upcoming showdown vs. Wake Forest, and more.

Below is the video from his press conference:

Louisville head coach Pat Kelsey is gearing up for a matchup against Wake Forest, and he’s ready to face the challenge head-on. In a recent press conference, Kelsey shared his thoughts on the upcoming game and what the team needs to do to come out on top.

“We know that Wake Forest is a tough opponent, but we’re prepared and focused on executing our game plan,” Kelsey said. “We have been working hard in practice to fine-tune our strategies and make sure we are ready for whatever they throw at us.”

Kelsey emphasized the importance of strong defense and disciplined offense in order to secure a victory against Wake Forest. He also praised the team’s resilience and determination, stating that they are ready to compete at a high level.

“We have a talented group of players who are hungry for success,” Kelsey added. “I have full confidence in their abilities and know that they will give it their all on the court.”

As the game approaches, Louisville fans can expect an intense and competitive matchup between the Cardinals and Wake Forest. With Kelsey at the helm, the team is poised to put on a show and come out victorious.

Stay tuned for more updates on Louisville basketball and their journey to success under Coach Kelsey’s leadership.

  • Hannah Blake previews Chelsea – Durham Women FC

Durham forward Hannah Blake caught up with us to preview Wednesday’s Subway Women’s League Cup tie

Hannah, a tough defeat at the weekend.

‘Yeah, I think obviously our first league game back this year was one we wanted to start off with a win and I think Charlton definitely posed a tough challenge for us.

‘They sat in quite a tough block to break down and I think we were unlucky with a few things but it has only motivated the group to go ahead, move onto the next, learn from the mistakes and get those three points in the next fixture.’

And we continue our Subway Women’s league cup run tomorrow, how are the squad feeling for it?

‘I think everyone’s pretty excited, obviously Chelsea are going to be a very very tough opposition, but I think these are the kind of games we want to be playing in and testing ourselves against the best.

‘I think everyone’s really looking forward to the occasion and to learn from what we can put out on the field.’

And, like you say, we are up against Chelsea, a top Women’s Super League side, what can we expect from the challenge?

‘I think, like you say, it’s going to be a massive challenge, they’re going to be class all throughout the field.

‘I think they’re one of the best teams in the country and in the world, so it’s one of the biggest challenges we’ll probably face all season, but these are the sort of games we want to play in.

‘All the girls are up for the challenge and we’re going to leave everything out on the pitch and see what we can come away with.’

And we are the only championship team left in the League-Cup quarter finals, what does that mean to the club?

‘Obviously being the last championship team is huge for the club, it shows that we are competing and that is exactly what we want to be doing.’

And we know that some fans are travelling down for the game tomorrow, do you have a message for them?

‘I think the fans have been flawless all season and yet again, their support coming down to Chelsea is going to be massive for us.

‘We’ll need all the support we can get and we’re looking forward to seeing them there’.

Hannah Blake, the star midfielder for Chelsea Women FC, is gearing up to face off against Durham Women FC in an upcoming match. With her exceptional skills and leadership on the field, Blake is sure to be a key player in this highly anticipated game.

  • The Night Agent Boss Shawn Ryan Previews Peter’s ‘Morally Queasy’ Season 2, New Dynamic With Rose

Netflix will open up the next chapter for The Night Agent when Season 2 arrives this Thursday, Jan. 23 — nearly two years after the hit thriller dropped Season 1.

Based on the novel of the same name by Matthew Quirk, Season 1 of The Night Agent followed Gabriel Basso’s Peter Sutherland, a low-level FBI Agent who worked in the basement of the White House, manning a phone that never rang — until it did. That call, from panicked cybersecurity expert Rose Larkin (Luciane Buchanan), propelled the two into a conspiracy that ultimately led all the way to the Oval Office. All the while, the heroic couple was dogged by not just a team of lovebird assassins, but an inscrutable bunch of White House bigwigs.

Season 2 is set in motion by the hunt for a mole who betrayed Peter during a Night Action mission and nearly got him killed, forcing him to go AWOL on his handler, Catherine Weaver (played by East New York’s Amanda Warren.

Also new for Season 2 are Brittany Snow (American Dreams) as Alice, Peter’s Night Action partner and mentor; Teddy Sears (The Flash) as Warren, an intelligence officer who becomes the target of a Night Action investigation; Arienne Mandi (The L Word: Generation Q) as Noor, a low-level aide in the Iranian mission to the UN in New York; Louis Herthum (The Peripheral) as Jacob Monroe, a broker of valuable intel; and Berto Colon (Power Book II: Ghost) as Solomon, Monroe’s right-hand man.

Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver, Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland (Christopher Saunders/Netflix)Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver, Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland (Christopher Saunders/Netflix)

You also have Keon Alexander (The Expanse) as Javad, head of security for the Iranian Mission to the UN; Navid Negahban (Homeland) as Abbas, a distinguished Iranian Ambassador to the UN; Michael Malarkey (The Vampire Diaries‘ Enzo) as Markus, a trained military leader loyal to his uncle who was recently convicted in the Hague of War Crimes; and Rob Heaps (Imposters) as Tomas, who is desperate to return his family to power after his dictator father’s conviction.

TVLine spoke with Night Agent showrunner (and fellow Rockford, Ill. native!) Shawn Ryan about continuing Peter Sutherland’s Night Agent adventures without any source material, how Season 2 feeds into the already-ordered Season 3, and more.

TVLINE | I had a good time speaking with your cast this morning at the Plaza. [Video coming soon to TVLine.]
    SHAWN RYAN |
It’s an intoxicating cast. They’re a great bunch.

TVLINE | My God, the women are great. I acknowledged how they’re playing three such distinctly strong and interesting characters, and how often do three actresses get to share such meaty, complicated scenes with each other?
Well, it’s interesting — one of the things I did between Season 1 and Season 2 was I wrote down a list for me and the other writers of things that I thought worked about Season 1 that I wanted to make sure that we had in Season 2. One of them was “strong female characters that don’t always get good things to do in shows in this genre”; it’s something that I want to make sure we do every year.

Obviously, we’ve got Peter at the center of things and he’s fantastic, but finding the right stories and the right characters to have these strong female representations…. In many ways I thought Noor occupied a space for us in Season 2 that Peter did in Season 1, in that she’s the least important person in an important place and she gets thrust into importance as the season goes on.

TVLINE | You and I spoke before about how was no second Night Agent book from Matthew Quirk for you to work off of, how you’d had to make this up from whole cloth. When you were coming up with a Season 2 story, what was not interesting to you to do, and what was interesting?
Well, I certainly didn’t want to do anything that too obviously repeated ourselves. I didn’t want to just have Peter and Rose end up in the exact same situation with the same emotions. So, having Rose sort of seek Peter out and then get caught up in this was better than finding another thing that puts Rose in danger that he’s got to respond to. So in many ways, while Peter came to her physical rescue in Season 1, I feel like in Season 2 Rose comes to his sort of spiritual rescue.

    Night Agent 2x04Night Agent 2x04

    Night Agent 2×04

TVLINE | What else were you interested in doing? What was your “must” for Season 2?
Season 1 was logistically very difficult for Peter, but morally kind of clear. “What was the right thing to do?” was clear for him to do, and he did it. One of the things I really wanted in Season 2 was to make things morally difficult for him. One of the lessons I learned back on The Unit, David Mamet would always talk about how “good drama isn’t the choice between right and wrong; good drama is the choice between two wrongs.” I’ve always held onto that as we’ve broken stories.

We learn through the book that Peter’s a very moral guy, a very principled guy, and he’s going to do the right thing. So, we endeavored hard in Season 2 to try to make it much more difficult for him to know what the right thing to do was, to struggle with that. We see [in one of the episodes] that it sickens him to tell a lie, but he has to do it for the greater good. Taking a very principled character and putting him in a job that is very morally queasy was something that felt like a good evolution in Season 2.

Brittany Snow as Alice (Siviroon Srisuwan/Netflix)Brittany Snow as Alice (Siviroon Srisuwan/Netflix)

Brittany Snow as Alice (Siviroon Srisuwan/Netflix)

TVLINE | I was excited when I learned that both Brittany Snow (American Dreams) and Teddy Sears (The Flash) would be in Season 2.
You know, Brittany initially auditioned for Rose back in Season 1 and was one of our finalists. I was really intrigued with the idea [of casting her in Season 2] because she’s known more for different kinds of shows than this, and nothing pleases me more than when I can find something that kind of defies expectations. I think about using Anthony Anderson as this really scary guy on The Shield, shortly after he was, like, making Kangaroo Jack. I always love when actors are capable of more than you think they are and they can prove it.

TVLINE | There’s a presidential election looming throughout Season 2, and yet Kari Matchett’s Travers isn’t running for reelection. I guess her candidacy would be a little tainted?
I think having a vice president and chief of staff who plotted to try to kill her [in Season 1] and all those things proved a little too politically toxic for reelection. In many ways she’s an honorable person surrounded by dishonorable people in Season 1, and I think she’s done the honorable thing by trying to give the country a clean break. But there may be unintended consequences to that.

TVLINE | Lastly, you got an early Season 3 pick-up. Does the Season 2 finale in any way tee up what Season 3 will look like?
We worked hard in Season 2 to tell a complete, satisfying story, but to leave some questions that can provide a launching pad for Season 3. So, I will say there’s a little bit more carryover from Season 2 to 3 than there was from Season 1 to 2, but I would promise the audience that it’s not just a pure cliffhanger. There’s a lot of resolution and a lot of satisfaction in Season 2.

TVLINE | You’re not doing Wicked: Part 1 and Wicked: Part 2.
    Exactly.

  • Australian Open QF Previews: Alexander Zverev vs. Tommy Paul, Gauff vs. Badosa, Sabalenka vs. Pavlyuchenkova

    Alexander Zverev vs. Tommy Paul

When it comes to American opponents in Grand Slam second weeks, Zverev is probably happy just to see someone other than Taylor Fritz on the other side of the net. Fritz beat him at Wimbledon and the US Open last year; now Zverev will have a crack at Fritz’s friend Tommy Paul.

Zverev and Paul have only played twice, both times on hard courts. The bad news for the German is that he lost each of those matches. The good news is that they took place in 2020 and 2022. Since then, both of these guys have improved, Zverev especially. While Paul has been to the semis Down Under, and is now a Top 20 fixture, Zverev finished 2024 at a career-high No. 2.

Read More: American Tommy Paul reaches the Australian Open quarterfinals for the second time in three years

Each comes into this match in solid form, and seemingly fit. Since surviving a first-round five-set scare, and a potential shoulder injury, against Chris O’Connell, Paul has looked revived and re-energized, like a man playing with house money. Zverev, meanwhile, he been his usual reliable if unspectacular self, staying well under the radar and dropping just one set.

Zverev has the better serve. Paul is the better athlete. Zverev is rangier and steadier from the ground. Paul is an all-courter who uses his speed to attack and defend. He’ll need to be the guy who makes things happen, who takes chances, who creates openings. That means he’ll have to play a higher-risk game than Zverev, and at the top end of his normal level. But he has seemed up to the task so far. Winner: Paul

The Australian Open quarterfinals are set to kick off with some exciting matchups on the horizon. In this post, we’ll be previewing three of the most anticipated matches: Alexander Zverev vs. Tommy Paul, Coco Gauff vs. Paula Badosa, and Aryna Sabalenka vs. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.

First up, we have Alexander Zverev taking on Tommy Paul. Zverev, the No. 4 seed, has been in fine form this tournament, dispatching opponents with ease. Paul, on the other hand, has had a breakthrough tournament, upsetting higher-ranked players to reach this stage. It promises to be a thrilling battle between the power of Zverev and the speed and skill of Paul.

Next, we have a clash between two rising stars in the women’s game: Coco Gauff and Paula Badosa. Gauff, just 17 years old, has shown maturity beyond her years in her performances so far. Badosa, meanwhile, has been in scintillating form, knocking out top seeds on her way to the quarterfinals. This match could go either way, with both players capable of producing some breathtaking tennis.

Lastly, we have Aryna Sabalenka taking on Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Sabalenka, the No. 2 seed, has been a force to be reckoned with, dominating opponents with her powerful game. Pavlyuchenkova, a seasoned veteran, has shown she still has what it takes to compete at the highest level. This match promises to be a battle of contrasting styles, with Sabalenka’s aggression going up against Pavlyuchenkova’s consistency.

Overall, these quarterfinal matchups are sure to provide plenty of drama and excitement. Be sure to tune in to see who will come out on top and secure a spot in the semifinals of the Australian Open.

  • Australian Open Fourth Round Previews: Coco Gauff vs. Belinda Bencic, Sabalenka vs. Andreeva, Alcaraz vs. Draper

For Andreeva, the tough thing about playing the No. 1 player in the world is that it’s easy to make excuses for herself.

“Sometimes there are thoughts that are, you know, I feel like, OK, she’s No. 1, maybe it’s OK if this doesn’t work. Or maybe I play not that good here…well, I mean, she’s No. 1, it’s OK.”

It’s hard to say whether Andreeva should feel more encouraged about her chances this time around. While she has won three matches, she had to make a great escape, from 3-5 down in the third, against Moyuka Uchijima, and she dropped another set against Magdalena Frech.

As for Sabalenka, she has yet to lose a set, but her last two opponents, Clara Tauson and Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, each pushed her to a point where she got tight. They showed that if you can take the initiative away from Sabalenka, and stand toe to toe with her, you can make her nervous and disrupt her attack.

Andreeva has the ground-stroke power to do that, but she’ll want to be sharper earlier than she has been so far this week, especially on these fairly fast hard courts. If she can land some punches early, the Sabalenka onslaught could be neutralized. Winner: Sabalenka

The Australian Open fourth round is heating up with some exciting matchups on the horizon. Here are previews of three must-watch matches:

    1. Coco Gauff vs. Belinda Bencic:
Young phenom Coco Gauff will face off against the seasoned veteran Belinda Bencic in what promises to be a thrilling clash of generations. Gauff has been in fine form this tournament, showcasing her trademark speed and power on the court. Bencic, on the other hand, is a crafty player with a wealth of experience on the big stage. Expect a close contest with plenty of fireworks from both players.

    2. Sabalenka vs. Andreeva:
Aryna Sabalenka, the hard-hitting Belarusian, will take on the up-and-coming Russian Anna Andreeva in a battle of power versus finesse. Sabalenka has been on a tear recently, dominating her opponents with her aggressive style of play. Andreeva, meanwhile, has been turning heads with her precise shot-making and tactical acumen. This match has all the makings of a classic showdown between two contrasting styles of play.

    3. Alcaraz vs. Draper:
In a clash of the young guns, rising stars Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper will go head-to-head for a spot in the quarterfinals. Alcaraz, the Spanish sensation, has been making waves on the ATP tour with his fearless play and raw talent. Draper, the British prodigy, has been garnering attention for his smooth left-handed strokes and composure under pressure. This match is sure to be a showcase of the next generation of tennis talent.

Stay tuned for these exciting matchups and more as the Australian Open fourth round unfolds. Who will come out on top and book their spot in the quarterfinals? Only time will tell.
