  • Charli xcx’s quest to brat-ify Hollywood continues with The Moment

Brat summer is giving way to celluloid winter. Maybe it’s because she already conquered the music scene or because her Letterboxd was exposed and she decided to lean in; either way, Charli xcx is fully committing to her Hollywood career. Variety reports that the pop star has added yet another film to her roster, this time based on her own original idea.

The film is called The Moment and will serve as the feature directorial debut for Scottish photographer and filmmaker Aidan Zamiri. Zamiri also wrote the screenplay, along with Bertie Brandes. Producer and longtime Charli collaborator A.G. Cook will compose the score. A24 is currently on board to produce, along with Charli under her brand new production company Studio365. (Get it? Like the song.) Not much else is known about the film as of this writing, but Variety says its sources “indicate” that she may also star.

She’s certainly getting a lot of practice now. The pop star made headlines when she was cast in Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex (starring Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman), but she didn’t stop there. Charli’s other ongoing acting projects include Daniel Goldhaber’s Faces of Death remake, Romain Gavras’ Sacrifice, Pete Ohs’ Erupcja, Julia Jackman’s 100 Nights of Hero (with Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Corin, and Maika Monroe), Benito Skinner’s comedy series Overcompensating, and Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist (led by Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman and Catherine Zeta-Jones). At least she’s not throwing herself into the fire right away, as she also did double duty on SNL in November. “I hate it when musicians dive into a different field, head-first, without really researching or learning much of anything about it,” the artist told Variety in December. “So I did a lot of reading to educate myself over the past three or four years before I actually did anything.”

Her collaborators have also spoken highly of her talent in this new chapter. “Charli is an excellent actress,” Erupcja director Ohs said. “She understands what it’s like to have a camera pointed at her… she could deliver all the goods. She’s a legit actress.”

Charli xcx is on a mission to bring her unique brand of brat-pop to Hollywood, and her latest project, The Moment, is further proof of her dedication to the cause. The British pop sensation, known for hits like “Boom Clap” and “1999,” has been making waves in the music industry with her infectious hooks and rebellious attitude. Now, she’s set her sights on conquering the silver screen.

The Moment, which is set to be released later this year, is a coming-of-age film that follows a young woman as she navigates the ups and downs of fame in the digital age. Charli xcx not only stars in the film but also serves as executive producer, ensuring that her vision for the project remains true to her bratty roots.

With The Moment, Charli xcx is continuing her quest to brat-ify Hollywood, bringing her signature blend of pop culture references, killer fashion, and unapologetic attitude to the big screen. Fans can expect a wild ride filled with catchy tunes, sassy one-liners, and plenty of surprises along the way.

So buckle up, because Charli xcx is here to shake things up and bring a whole new level of brattitude to Tinseltown. The Moment is sure to be a must-see for fans of the pop star and anyone looking for a fresh take on the coming-of-age genre. Get ready to dance, sing, and maybe even shed a tear or two, because with Charli xcx at the helm, anything is possible.

  • “It’s time to capitalise” – Arteta calls for focus as Gunners resume Euro quest – Arseblog News

After six Champions League group games, Arsenal sit third out of 36 teams and look well-positioned to secure a top-eight finish, which would see them bypass a two-legged knockout round play-off in February.

Given the Gunners’ hectic schedule, it’s a reward they are desperate to secure, especially as it would free up time in the calendar for a restorative mid-season trip to Dubai.

While it’s not guaranteed, Opta simulations suggest that 16 points should be enough to secure automatic qualification. A win against Dinamo Zagreb at the Emirates on Wednesday could prove decisive.

With that in mind, Mikel Arteta is calling for full focus.

“So far we’ve done really well, we’re in a really strong position and now it’s time to capitalise at home on all the work that we’ve done for many months,” he told his pre-game press conference.

“We need a strong performance today against a really good side, and we’ll try to do that.”

Asked about the prospect of a warm-weather training camp, he added: “My thinking is let’s do what we have to do first, which is always difficult because we’re talking about the Champions League, and if we manage to do that, obviously we’ll have the best ideas on the table to make the right decision, hopefully.

“It was very helpful [last year]. I mean, with the schedule that we had for the last three months, you can have a break and reset a little bit, work on things, and rest some people.”

Zagreb should pose an interesting challenge for Arteta and his backroom team. Since their last competitive game – a 3-2 domestic win over Varazdin on 22 December – they’ve sacked manager Sergej Jakirovic and brought in Italian legend Fabio Cannavaro.

The 51-year-old’s coaching career includes stints in Dubai, China, and Saudi Arabia, before an unsuccessful five months with Serie B outfit Benevento. He also had a brief spell at Udinese, helping them avoid relegation before parting ways.

In his new role, Cannavaro has only overseen a couple of friendly matches during the Croatian season’s traditional winter break.

“That’s the context of the game a little bit,” noted Arteta. “With a new coach and the fact that they haven’t played a competitive match for a month.

“Obviously, we know the games that they’ve played—their friendlies, we watched. And just to try to gather ideas and more principles, basically, than systems and formations, because Fabio’s played different formations in China compared to when he was in Italy, and now as well.

“So, [our task is] to actually understand what they’re going to do, not just the idea behind it. We’ll adapt to that tomorrow.”

As for who will pose the biggest threat for the visitors, all eyes will be on the highly-rated Martin Baturina. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has seven assists and two goals in 23 appearances this season and is tipped for a bright future.

“I don’t like to talk about individuals, but they do have a lot of talent. They have some individuals that catch your eye because you have in your head all the players that play in that club and what they’ve done in the past.

“So, yeah, it’s always a good league and a great club to follow.”

It should be an interesting occasion for Gabriel Magalhaes, who spent some time on loan with Zagreb from Lille in 2018. Having only played one game during that stint, he’ll be keen to show them what they missed.

On the topic of players who have represented both clubs, Eduardo da Silva visited London Colney today to meet the Arsenal squad.

The Brazil-born Croatia international was the first player to score a competitive goal at Emirates Stadium back in 2006, a feat that convinced Arsene Wenger to sign him. Known for his clinical finishing, he quickly became a fan favourite before that horrific leg break at Birmingham City nearly ended his career.

“We didn’t play together, but obviously it’s a really familiar face with a very specific history,” said Arteta. “He became very important and very loved here. And then, the career he had there. So, very good to see people coming back that they’ve been here with a big smile on their faces.”

“It’s time to capitalise” – Arteta calls for focus as Gunners resume Euro quest

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on his players to maintain their focus as they prepare to resume their Europa League campaign. The Gunners will face Benfica in the first leg of their round of 32 tie on Thursday, and Arteta is keen for his team to make the most of this opportunity.

Speaking ahead of the game, Arteta stressed the importance of capitalising on the momentum they have built in recent weeks. “We have been performing well in the league and we need to carry that form into Europe,” he said. “This is a crucial stage of the competition and we need to be at our best.”

Arsenal have been in impressive form in recent weeks, with key players such as Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe stepping up to the plate. Arteta will be hoping for more of the same from his players as they look to progress in the Europa League.

With a top-four finish in the Premier League looking increasingly unlikely, the Europa League represents Arsenal’s best chance of qualifying for next season’s Champions League. Arteta knows the importance of this competition and will be urging his players to give their all in pursuit of success.

As the Gunners gear up for their clash with Benfica, Arteta’s message is clear – it’s time to capitalise. Arsenal have the quality to go far in this competition, but they will need to stay focused and maintain their form if they are to achieve their goals. The journey starts now, and Arteta will be hoping that his players rise to the occasion and deliver when it matters most.

‘Steeled Resolve Timed Research’ quest steps in Pokémon Go

The Steeled Resolve Timed Research is the Pokémon Go quest released during the event sharing its name. As you can tell, it’s a Timed Research quest and that means you must complete it before Sunday 26th January at 8pm (local time) if you want to earn all of its rewards.

Steeled Resolve is also a branching quest where, after completing its first quest step, you need to pick one of two paths – Train with Blanche or Train with Cliff. This decision changes two of the rewards you receive from this quest, so it’s a good idea to know what these rewards are before you make your decision. Especially since you can not change your path choice after it’s made. To help you out in this regard, we’ve outlined the quest steps for each path and taken a look at which Choose Path is best further along in this guide.

For now, let’s take a look at the Steeled Resolve quest steps which occur before you select a path. Watch out for spoilers!

Thank you to TwitchSpencxr from reddit for the help with this information.

‘Steeled Resolve’ Step 1 of 3

Train with Blanche or Train with Cliff: Best Choose Path choice for Steeled Resolve

When it comes to picking between the ‘Train with Blanche’ or ‘Train with Cliff’ paths for the Steeled Resolve Timed Research quest in Pokémon Go, which path for you is, and I know this is annoying, subjective. There is a way, however, to easily decide which path you want to take and that’s down to the Pokémon encounters you receive.

All of the challenges and the majority of the rewards remain the same between the two paths aside from the two Pokémon you can earn. ‘Train with Blanche’ offers a Marill and Steelix, while ‘Train with Cliff’ lets you catch a Shadow Machop and Marowak.

Steelix is earned from the ‘Train with Blanche’ path, Marowak from ‘Train with Cliff’.

For this reason, you can make your decision based on either what Pokémon you need for the Pokédex, for a Go Battle League team or whether you want to add some small progress to one of your catch medals.

    Marill evolves into Azumarill.

The Marill ‘Train with Blanche’ rewards you with can be evolved into a Azumarill, which remains to be one of the best Pokémon you can use in the Great League. Since Pokémon earned from research quests tend to have better IV stats, this is a great way to add a strong Azumarill to your team. Meanwhile, if you’re missing Steelix from your Pokédex, then this path lets you fill in this entry without having to find a Metal Coat nor the required Onix Candy.

On the other hand, the Shadow Machop offered by ‘Train with Cliff’ should not be purified since Shadow Machamp is one of the best Fighting-type Pokémon in the game. Whether you want it for raids or the Master League, Shadow Machamp will have your back. Admittedly the Marowak encounter is less useful since it is not a Shadow Pokémon. You’ll be getting a regular Kanto Marowak here, but it can still come in handy.

Personally, I’ll be going with the ‘Train with Cliff’ path since I really want a powerful Shadow Machamp for my team. (And I have more than enough Machop Candy to properly power it up.) The advantage of being able to use it in both raids and the Master League makes it a good addition to multiple teams I have running in Pokémon Go.

Everything we know about Steeled Resolve in Pokémon Go

Steeled Resolve is running until Sunday 26th January at 8pm (local time). The Go Battle Week: Dual Destiny event is running alongside Steeled Resolve, which we’ve covered in the next section.

Returning to Steeled Resolve, this event has two bonuses. The first is a Shadow Pokémon related bonus where, once again, you can use a Charged TM to make these Pokémon forget the Frustration Charged Attack. The second bonus sees Magnetic Lure Modules attract different Pokémon during this event, including Onix, Beldum, Sheildon and Rookidee.

More exciting than the bonuses (and that’s not hard in my opinion) is the release of three new Pokémon – Rookidee, Corvisquire and Corviknight. These three Pokémon make up the Rookidee evolution line of Gen 8 and, while the first two Pokémon are simply Flying-types, Corviknight adds Steel to become a dual type. If you want to learn more about these new Pokémon, check out our how to get Rookidee in Pokémon Go page.

Steeled Resolve is also meant to mark the arrival of a new set of quest steps for the Dual Destiny seasonal Special Research quest. Yet, at the time of writing, we’re still waiting for those quest steps to be released. When they are made available, both this and the Dual Destiny Special Research quest page will be updated.

The following Pokémon are appearing more frequently during Steeled Resolve:

    • Clefairy
    • Machop
    • Totodile
    • Marill
    • Hoppip
    • Paldean Wooper
    • Shieldon
    • Bunnelby
    • Carbink
    • Mareanie

You can battle these Pokémon in raids during Steeled Resolve:

One Star Three Star Five Star Mega
Lickitung Muk Deoxys Attack Form (until 10am local time on Friday 24th January) Mega Gallade (until 10am local time on Friday 24th January)
Skorupi Delcatty Deoxys Defense Form (until 10am local time on Friday 24th January) Mega Medicham (from 10am local time on Friday 24th January)
Pancham Skuntank Dialga (from 10am local time on Friday 24th January)
    Amura Lumineon

Spinning a PokéStop during Steeled Resolve may result in you receiving an event-exclusive 2km egg, which can hatch:

    • Shieldon
    • Carbink
    • Mareanie
    • Rookidee

Shieldon and Carbink can be hatched from the event-exclusive eggs.

If you fancy giving a Pokémon a featured attack, then the Steeled Resolve event is the time to do so. Just keep in mind that these featured attacks are earned via evolution, so you will need the previous Pokémon in the evolutionary line to grab the new attack.

The Steeled Resolve featured attacks are:

Machamp – Karate Chop (Fighting-type Fast Attack)

    • Evolve a Machoke into Machamp
    • Gyms and Raid Power – 10
    • Trainer Battles Power – 5

Feraligatr – Hydro Cannon (Water-type Charged Attack)

    • Evolve a Croconaw into Feraligatr
    • Gyms and Raid Power – 90
    • Trainer Battles Power – 80

Quagsire – Aqua Tail (Water-type Charged Attack)

    • Evolve a Wooper into Quagsire
    • Gyms and Raid Power – 50
    • Trainer Battles Power – 55

Lickilicky – Body Slam (Normal-type Charged Attack)

    • Evolve a Lickitung into Lickilicky
    • Gyms and Raid Power – 50
    • Trainer Battles Power – 50

Corviknight – Iron Head (Steel-type Charged Attack)

    • Evolve a Corvisquire into Corviknight
    • Gyms and Raid Power – 60
    • Trainer Battles Power – 70

Clodsire – Megahorn (Bug-type Charged Attack)

    • Evolve a Paldean Wooper into Clodsire
    • Gyms and Raid Power – 105
    • Trainer Battles Power – 110

There are, of course, PokéStop Showcases running throughout Steeled Resolve!

Finally, as with the majority of Pokémon Go events now, there’s a pay-to-play Timed Research quest available during Steeled Resolve. Costing $5, or the equivalent in your local currency, this purchase unlocks a double hatch Stardust bonus alongside the quest itself. The purchase is nonrefundable, can’t be done using PokéCoin and can be given to players you’re Great Friends or higher with. Just make sure you complete the quest before 11:59pm (local time) on Sunday 26th January or else it will vanish forever,

The Dual Destiny Season is here! The Steeled Resolve event is running and it’s brought Rookidee, Corvisquire and Corviknight to Pokémon Go.

You can now catch Dynamax Pokémon through Max Battles. First, however, you need to visit Power Spots to collect Max Particles and complete the To the Max! quest.

Don’t forget to try out Routes, Gift Exchange and Party Play while you’re hunting down rare Pokémon, fighting in the Go Battle League or competing in PokéStop Showcases.

Go Battle Week Dual Destiny in Pokémon Go

The Go Battle Week: Dual Destiny event is running alongside Steeled Resolve, ending at 11:59pm (local time) on Sunday 26th January, in Pokémon Go. Thanks to its bonuses, this event is perfect for anyone who partakes in the Go Battle League or needs to do some work towards a level up challenge.

Firstly, the number of battle sets you can complete every day has been increased to 20. This means you can compete in 100 battles each day – coming to a total of 600 battles if you max out every day!

The win rewards have also seen some changes for this event. The Pokémon you earn from win rewards will have a wider variance when it comes to their Attack, Defense and HP stats. Meanwhile, you’ll earn quadruple Stardust from win rewards. (This Stardust bonus does not affect end-of-set rewards.)

Finally, there’s a free Timed Research quest focused around battling and, if you complete it, you’ll earn the Grimsely Shoes avatar item. (Though players who’ve already earned this item will not receive the shoes for a second time.)

When it comes to which leagues will be active during Go Battle Week: Dual Destiny, it’s important to note that both the Master League and Color Cup: Great League Edition will be running until 4am (GMT) in the UK, 5am (CET) in Europe, 11pm (EST) on the eastern US coast and 8pm (PST) on the western US coast.

Once this time passes, the Great League, Ultra League and Master League will all be live until Tuesday 28th January. So whether it’s to earn medal progress or to use your preferred team, pick which league you want to focus on and get battling.

Hope you enjoy both Steeled Resolve and Go Battle Week: Dual Destiny!

Pokémon Go Steeled Resolve Timed Research Quest Steps

Hey trainers! Are you ready for a new challenge in Pokémon Go? The Steeled Resolve Timed Research quest is now live, and it’s time to put your skills to the test. Here are the steps you’ll need to complete to earn some great rewards:

    1. Catch 15 Steel-type Pokémon
    2. Power up Pokémon 10 times
    3. Battle in a Raid
    4. Win a level 3 or higher raid
    5. Defeat Team Go Rocket Leader Arlo
    6. Defeat Team Go Rocket Leader Cliff
    7. Defeat Team Go Rocket Leader Sierra
    8. Complete 5 Go Battle League battles

Once you’ve completed all these steps, you’ll earn some awesome rewards, including rare candies, stardust, and even encounters with Steel-type Pokémon like Beldum and Jirachi.

      Best Choose Path Choice

When faced with the Choose Path decision in the Steeled Resolve Timed Research quest, the best choice to make will depend on your personal gameplay style and goals. If you’re looking to catch as many Steel-type Pokémon as possible, choose the path that leads you through areas with a high spawn rate of Steel-types. If you’re focused on powering up your Pokémon, choose the path that offers the most opportunities for catching and evolving Pokémon.

      Go Battle Week Dual Destiny

In addition to the Steeled Resolve Timed Research quest, Pokémon Go is also celebrating Go Battle Week Dual Destiny. During this event, you’ll have the chance to participate in special Go Battle League battles, earn extra Stardust for wins, and even encounter some rare Pokémon in the wild.

So get out there, trainers, and show off your skills in battle as you complete the Steeled Resolve Timed Research quest and take on the challenges of Go Battle Week Dual Destiny. Good luck!

  • From Michigan to Ohio State: Joey Velazquez’s quest to win a title on both sides of the rivalry

ATLANTA — Joey Velazquez has been at Ohio State long enough to know and respect the rule around his teammates.

He tries to follow it everywhere else, too, but he admittedly slips up with his parents every now and then.

“Sometimes I do say, ‘Michigan,’” Velazquez said.

Any violations are unintentional and understandable. Before he became a backup linebacker and special teams player for the Buckeyes, he was a contributor for the Team Up North.

Which puts him on the verge of history.

If Ohio State beats Notre Dame in Monday night’s College Football Playoff final, Velazquez will have won back-to-back national championships on two different teams — two teams that happen to be among the fiercest rivals in all of sports.

“It’s breathtaking, honestly,” Velazquez said Saturday during CFP media day. “I’m just thankful that God put me in the opportunities to be with these guys and these great players.”

Velazquez started earning those opportunities as a three-star football recruit and three-time all-state baseball player at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio. He initially committed to the hometown Buckeyes’ 2019 class but flipped to Michigan because football coach Jim Harbaugh and baseball coach Erik Bakich agreed to let him play both sports.

“That was my dream come true coming out of high school,” Velazquez said. “They gave me the opportunity, so it was awesome.”

Though his statistics were not eye-popping, he became the first Michigan player since Rick Leach (1978) to win a Big Ten title in football and baseball in the same year.

In football, he appeared in 21 career games on defense/special teams (none last year) and recovered a first-half fumble at the Wisconsin 5-yard line in 2021. In baseball, the lefty outfielder started 68 games over four seasons. He batted .277 in 2022 and had a game-winning pinch-hit home run against No. 21 Maryland and the go-ahead RBI single against Illinois en route to the Big Ten Tournament title.

But his father, Jason, started having health problems in the summer of 2023. Velazquez was far enough away that he didn’t realize how serious things were until he returned home. As the oldest son in a family of nine children, Velazquez decided he needed to be closer to home. The Buckeyes gave him that chance, and he transferred to Ohio State as a walk-on.

A Michigan Man began wearing scarlet and gray.

“You never see it happen,” Buckeyes linebacker Cody Simon said.

Once Simon and his teammates heard the reason behind Velazquez’s decision, they understood. And once they saw him work, they quickly accepted him. Velazquez was twice named one of the Buckeyes’ dudes of the week during offseason strength and conditioning programs. The 5-foot-11, 226-pound Velazquez has appeared in every game and recorded a tackle against Western Michigan.

“He’s really here for the betterment of our team,” Simon said. “He’s grown to be a brother of mine now. He helped our culture as soon as he got here.”

Despite the fierce animosity between the teams — hatred that boiled over into a midfield brawl in November — Velazquez sees cultural similarities. Both have fun and joke around on occasion, but the business-like preparation at both programs is at a level Velazquez has never seen anywhere else. As a sixth-year senior, Velazquez tries to foster it by showing younger players the dedication necessary to succeed. Dedication that has resulted in one Big Ten championship in baseball, three in football, one national championship and, perhaps, another title secured at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday.

Velazquez would not be the first player in the transfer portal era to win national championships at two different programs. Derion Kendrick was a receiver on Clemson’s 2018 title team and a standout cornerback on the Georgia team that won it all three years later. But Kendrick did not have to straddle a white-hot rivalry like Velazquez.

Velazquez’s maize and blue gear is boxed up — a safe middle ground between hanging shirts in his closet and disposing of them. During Thanksgiving week, he didn’t cross out or tape over the M on his Michigan diploma (a degree in American culture), which his parents have stowed away somewhere. He remains in touch with some of his former Michigan teammates, and a few have even reached out this week to let him know they’re rooting for him.

Though the circumstances of Velazquez’s transfer were unfortunate, he’s grateful for the results. His father’s health has improved. The situation let him join another elite program that sits four quarters away from a national title. Velazquez got to experience both sides of a storied rivalry and can consider himself both a Buckeye and a Michigan Man.

“Hopefully, I have the opportunity to win both national championships,” Velazquez said. “I’ll let my kids decide whatever team they want to pick.”

(Photos: Doral Chenoweth / USA Today Network; Mark J. Rebilas / Imagn Images)

Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, Joey Velazquez always dreamed of playing football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. But after committing to the University of Michigan to play baseball, Velazquez found himself on the other side of one of college football’s most heated rivalries.

Despite the allegiance to the maize and blue, Velazquez’s love for football never wavered. After two seasons playing baseball for the Wolverines, he decided to walk on to the football team in hopes of fulfilling his childhood dream of playing at the highest level.

Velazquez’s journey from Michigan to Ohio State was not an easy one. He had to prove himself on the field and earn the respect of his teammates and coaches. But his hard work and determination paid off, and he eventually earned a scholarship to play football for the Buckeyes.

Now, as a key member of the Ohio State defense, Velazquez is determined to help his team win a national championship and add another title to his resume. But his journey is not just about winning on the field – it’s about bridging the gap between two fierce rivals and proving that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.

As Velazquez continues his quest to win a title on both sides of the rivalry, he serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most unlikely paths lead to the greatest success. And no matter which team he’s playing for, he’ll always have a piece of both Michigan and Ohio State in his heart.
