  • Arch Manning reveals advice he received from Quinn Ewers, Steve Sarkisian ahead of 2025 season

Not long after Ohio State beat Texas in the Cotton Bowl to end the 2024 season for the Longhorns, Texas QB Arch Manning was already thinking ahead to 2025. Manning played mostly in a reserve role for Texas the past two seasons. But he will finally get his chance to shine this upcoming year.

Manning recently sat down with ESPN’s Marty Smith for an interview and revealed the message he received from Quinn Ewers ahead of the 2025 season.

“Kind of right after the Ohio State game I was with Quinn in the locker room,” Manning recalled. “He was just like, ‘Enjoy every moment. It goes by quickly. So love on your teammates and have fun.’”

That is obviously excellent advice from Ewers, who is off to the NFL after leading the Longhorns to the semifinals of the College Football Playoff in 2024. Ewers spent three seasons at Texas after starting his career at Ohio State as a decorated recruit. He knows all too well how quickly time goes by while playing college football.

In addition to Ewers, Manning also received advice from Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian about what to do now that he is the leader of the Texas team.

“Coach Sark just told me to be myself and be a leader and work hard and it’ll all work out,” Arch Manning said.

Manning started two games for the Longhorns this past season while Quinn Ewers was injured, leading Texas past ULM and Mississippi State. He also saw limited playing time in several other games.

For the year, Manning finished with 939 passing yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions while completing 67.8 percent of his passes. Manning also rushed for 108 yards and four scores. He is looking forward to his opportunity to finally be the full-time starter for the Longhorns.

“I think my first start against ULM I kind of forced some shots down field and was a little bit greedy,” Arch Manning said. “But then the next week against Mississippi State settled in. The hardest part was you get a little taste of what it’s like and you love it. And then you go back to not playing. That was pretty tough.

“I haven’t really played much, so I guess it hasn’t really started. But it’s been fun. I’ve enjoyed it. I’ve learned a lot. I love my coaches, love my teammates. So I’m ready to get it rolling.”

Arch Manning, the highly touted quarterback prospect in the class of 2023, has revealed the advice he received from fellow quarterback Quinn Ewers and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian as he prepares for the 2025 season.

In a recent interview, Manning shared that Ewers, who recently transferred to Texas from Ohio State, told him to trust his instincts and always stay true to himself on and off the field. Ewers, who knows a thing or two about being in the spotlight as a highly recruited quarterback, emphasized the importance of staying grounded and focusing on what truly matters.

On the other hand, Steve Sarkisian, the head coach of the Texas Longhorns, offered Manning advice on how to navigate the pressures of being a top recruit and potential future star in college football. Sarkisian emphasized the importance of hard work, dedication, and maintaining a strong work ethic in order to succeed at the highest level.

Manning, who comes from a long line of successful quarterbacks, including his grandfather Archie Manning and uncles Peyton and Eli Manning, is no stranger to high expectations. With the guidance and advice from Ewers and Sarkisian, he is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming 2025 season and beyond. Stay tuned for what promises to be an exciting journey for Arch Manning as he continues to carve out his own path in the world of college football.

De’Sean Quinn appointed as newest King County Councilmember

Since King County is the “local government” for White Center, this appointment is of note even though it involves a council district south of ours. Here’s the official announcement:

The King County Council on Tuesday voted to appoint De’Sean Quinn to fill the District 5 council seat vacated when Dave Upthegrove was elected as Washington State Lands Commissioner.

“I am thrilled to welcome our new colleague, Councilmember De’Sean Quinn, to the King County Council! With his strong, steady leadership and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our region, he’s ready to hit the ground running,” said King County Council Chair Girmay Zahilay. “Together, I look forward to partnering on the critical issues impacting South King County, ensuring that workers and families have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, and I’m eager to partner in creating a stronger more prosperous feature for our communities.”

Quinn is a current Tukwila City Councilmember who has served in that role since 2008. He is also a King County employee, working as assistant general manager of Partnerships and Strategies for King County Metro. He will resign both these positions before he is sworn in as a King County Councilmember. Quinn also previously served as community relations manager for former Executive Ron Sims, as council relations director, and as regional relations manager under Executive Dow Constantine.

District 5 represents the cities of Renton, Kent, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Normandy Park. Quinn will serve until the results of the November general election are certified.

  • Jane Seymour Opened Up Her Home to ‘Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman Costar’ Joe Lando and His Family amid Palisades Fire

Jane Seymour opened her home to her former Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman costar, Joe Lando, and his family.

As the deadly Palisades fire ravages Los Angeles, hundreds of people have lost their homes, including Lando, 63. On Saturday, Jan. 11, Lando revealed on Instagram that his former costar took him and his family into her home after the wildfires destroyed the Landos’ home.

Seymour, 73, said of the gesture, per TVLine. “My mother instilled in me from an early age that in times of great strife and struggle, reach out and help someone. Welcoming Joe and his family into our home while they try to make sense of the inexplicable is just what you do for family, and The Landos are our family.”

Seymour and Lando portrayed an on-screen couple from 1993 through the 1998 series finale.

“The Lando family is intact, all of us, our dogs and our two birds. Thankfully, there are angels in this world,” Lando began in his Instagram video. Lando married his wife Kirsten Barlow in 1997. They share four adult children: Jack, 26, Christian, 23, Kate, 21, and William, 17.

“We’re left with nothing except each other. My friend Jane Seymour allowed us to come over to her house and opened it up for us without any hesitation and thank God gave us someplace to come and sleep.”

In Lando’s video, he detailed the harrowing experience. “There hasn’t been any gas, and you can’t drink the water, and you can’t breathe the air,” he said. “I’ve never been through anything like this. It’s indescribable.”

The Higher Ground actor continued, “If it was just us, if it was just us, I’d be really okay with this. But it’s everybody. It’s everything. I’m just devastated and heartbroken for everybody. All the people we know.”

“There’s a lot of wealthy people in my neighborhood, a lot of very well-known folks, but that’s not the majority of this neighborhood. Most people are hardworking folks that have been living here for generations,” he said before noting that his in-laws lived in their home for over 40 years.

The destructive Palisades fire first began in the L.A. neighborhood of Pacific Palisades on Jan. 7, and has since burned more than 23,700 acres with 14% containment, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

On the other side of L.A. County, the Eaton fire also began on Jan. 7 and has already burned more than 14,000 acres and is now 33% contained. Additional fires have also sprung up around the Southern California region.

Jane Seymour, best known for her role as Dr. Quinn on the hit TV show “Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman,” recently opened up her home to her former costar Joe Lando and his family amid the devastating Palisades Fire in California.

Lando, who played Byron Sully on the beloved series, was forced to evacuate his home due to the raging wildfire, and Seymour graciously offered her home as a safe haven for him and his loved ones.

In a heartwarming display of friendship and solidarity, Seymour welcomed Lando and his family with open arms, ensuring that they had a comfortable and secure place to stay during this challenging time.

Joe Lando is devastated after losing his home in the Palisades Fire.

During an interview with Fox News Digital Thursday, the “Dr. Quinn” star explained that now that he’s been able to clear his mind, he’s grasping the extent of damage to his community in Pacific Palisades.

“I’m replaying what happened. And I’m getting a little aggravated now because I’m realizing there were so many things that happened that morning that could have possibly made this far less of the disaster that it turned out to be,” Lando said.

“I mean, my neighborhood looks like Hiroshima,” the actor explained.

Lando noted that part of Pacific Palisades still stands, which locals call “Carusoville.”

“Rick Caruso, a land developer-builder, bought a little part of our town and put some stores there,” he explained. “And he had his own private fire department there, I believe, on Tuesday, and that’s the only thing that’s left standing. And you could hit one of his buildings from my house with a rock.”

“I mean, my neighborhood looks like Hiroshima.”

Lando said Caruso, who lives in Pacific Palisades, was just trying to protect what was his, which many residents opted to do, even Lando.

“My son Christian and I, we stayed behind to fight the fire for hours. I mean hours. [We] dumped water on top of my roof, my neighbor’s roof,” he said.

    “But I was concerned.

“If that catches fire, you’ll catch my house on fire and my other neighbors. So, we were hosing down, you know, each other’s homes for a bit. And then people certainly slowly drop off. And Christian and I stayed there till the very, very end,” Lando said.

Eventually, Lando and his son had to leave their home. Initially, they went to his son’s apartment in Santa Monica, and the star recognized people from his neighborhood that relocated toward the coast to escape the flames.

“And, you know, like I’ve said before, if it was just my house, this wouldn’t be as tough to bear. But it’s everybody, and it’s everything we know. It’s our world,” Lando said.

He explained to Fox News Digital that many of his neighbors, himself included, may never be able to rebuild after the Palisades Fire.

“They were three-bedroom, two-bath houses that belonged to elderly folks. They’re never going to be able to rebuild here again. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to rebuild because, three months before this fire, the insurance company, Allstate, dropped my entire street,” Lando said.

“That would have meant helicopters could have been to the fire in literally seconds instead of having to go all the way to the ocean and fill up and come back again to drop it because the fire was right there,” he said.

Lando said he is “convinced” someone started the Palisades Fire.

“I saw right where it was. This wasn’t the climate. This wasn’t a downed power line. This wasn’t a gardener or a car hitting a rock or anything like that.

“It was Skull Rock. Somebody walked in. They started that fire. And then I watched it go from one spot to two to three spots, and it was five spots. And I know the wind was strong at that point. Maybe all those other spots were caused by that first fire. But that very first puff of smoke at 9 was a man starting this fire. I’m convinced of it,” Lando said.

Lando is not the first celebrity to float the arson theory. However, officials have said that they have not determined the cause of the Palisades Fire.

On Jan. 9, authorities deployed arson investigators to the Pacific Palisades to determine the origin of the blaze that consumed thousands of buildings.

“The cause of the fire remains unknown, and it continues to be under active investigation,” Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley said at the time.

During his interview with Fox News Digital, Lando explained that this is an emotional time for him but wanted to thank the firefighters and first responders who fought to preserve the Pacific Palisades.

“I want to first thank all the firefighters, first responders, people that helped try to save our homes. It is such a dangerous job, one we don’t appreciate until you live through what I just lived through with my son and my family,” he said.

While he was evacuating, Jane Seymour opened her home to her “Dr. Quinn” co-star.

“My wife and I spent the night in a hotel. Things are just still burning out of control. It was very smoky. And Jane said, ‘Come up here. There’s no smoke up here. The air is clear.’ They didn’t have water or power here, but that doesn’t matter. It was a safe place where the air was clear,” Lando said.

“I just thank God that there’s somebody like Jane, and there’s a lot of people in the world like Jane. This has done something where it’s brought out the best. As always, these tragedies bring out the best of us. If we could only hang on to these feelings and remember them, you know, when we get so down on each other.”

In a recent interview, “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” star Jane Seymour made a controversial comparison between the aftermath of the Palisades Fire and the devastating bombing of Hiroshima during World War II. The Palisades Fire, which ravaged through the upscale neighborhood in Los Angeles, left many residents displaced and homes destroyed.

Seymour, who is a longtime resident of the Palisades neighborhood, expressed her shock and horror at the destruction caused by the fire. In an emotional statement, she likened the scene to the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, where the city was left in ruins and thousands of lives were lost.

The comparison drew criticism from many who felt that it was inappropriate and insensitive to equate a natural disaster to a deliberate act of war. Some argued that such a comparison diminishes the severity and historical significance of the Hiroshima bombing.

Despite the backlash, Seymour stood by her statement, insisting that the devastation she witnessed in the Palisades was reminiscent of the images she had seen of Hiroshima. She urged people to come together and support those affected by the fire, emphasizing the need for unity and compassion during times of crisis.

The controversy sparked a debate on social media, with some defending Seymour’s right to express her opinion and others condemning her for trivializing a tragic event in history. Ultimately, the comparison serves as a reminder of the power of words and the importance of thoughtful and respectful discourse in the face of tragedy.

‘Silo’ Recap, Season Two, Episode 8: ‘The Book of Quinn’

    Silo

    The Book of Quinn

    Season 2

    Episode 8

    Editor’s Rating

    3 stars

    Photo: Apple TV+

I blame myself. From the moment I saw there was a Silo episode coming titled “The Book of Quinn” — after so many episodes where the mysterious Salvador Quinn’s name had been dropped with a mix of awe and fear — I began anticipating a flashback episode, taking us back to Silo 18’s distant past and bringing us some long-awaited answers about the silo’s history. And really, wouldn’t this have been a good time for a flashback? With tensions high in both Silo 18 and Silo 17, and with two more episodes to go in the season after this one, wouldn’t a little breather and a little backstory have been nice?

Alas, the Silo writers had other ideas, and I confess that my thwarted expectations may have soured my feelings. Or it may be that the episode is pretty middling on its own merits. Compared with this season’s recent action-packed, plot-forward chapters, “The Book of Quinn” stalls quite a lot, jumping between a half-dozen storylines without moving many of them along in a particularly gripping way.

As it happens, the episode’s title refers to a literal book sought out by Lukas in what turns out to be this week’s richest storyline. While trying to crack Quinn’s complicated code, Lukas embarks on an investigation on multiple silo levels, starting in the late Judge Meadows’s apartment and then in the home of Quinn’s direct descendants. Those descendants eventually tell Lukas that Judge Meadows visited them before she died, trading some printed relics for Quinn’s personal, annotated copy of The Pact — the actual “book of Quinn,” so to speak.

The Lukas scenes aren’t exciting per se, but they are revealing in that Lukas’s attempts to wield his new power as Bernard’s shadow show the limits of that power. Judge Sims and his Judicial goons don’t have a lot of respect for the shadow’s blue badge — especially given that the goons had planned to plunder Meadows’s apartment before Lukas got there —and they let him know that while Bernard may officially be in charge, the people the mayor relies on to do his dirty work are the ones who really decide who gets the favors and who gets the punishment. (To drive the point home, Sims casually notes that he knows where Lukas’s mother lives and works.)

Still, even if we don’t get a full-blown Quinn flashback in this episode, we do learn more about him. Bernard tells Lukas that everything the silo’s residents have been taught about Quinn — that he failed to quell a rebellion, which ended with all the important historical records either burned or erased — is misleading. According to Bernard, Quinn was a genius for letting the lore be destroyed because before then, there were rebellions roughly every 20 years, and since Quinn, there’s been peace for 140.

That sure seems like a plausible explanation. Yet when Lukas uses Quinn’s copy of The Pact to decode his secret message, he reads these words: “If you’ve gotten this far, you already know the game is rigged.” Could Bernard’s secret history of Quinn be another ruse?

One of the more intriguing questions this episode raises is whether the game is worth playing anyway, even if the people running it know it’s rigged. It’s something Sheriff Billings wrestles with this week when Shirley tries to convince him to ignore The Pact, given that it’s highly likely the silo’s Founders were liars. The sheriff’s fiery counterargument is that the whole social order would collapse without some kind of an organizing principle. They may as well trust the process the Founders established, even if their reasons remain shrouded in mystery.

This debate never gets much of a chance to take root or develop because there are too many other characters involved in too many other plots. Some scenes this week barely last a minute before we’re rushed to another part of the silo for another scene, which barely gets going before we’re yanked away again, and so on. This isn’t like the climactic part of an adventure story, where purposeful cross-cutting between daring deeds builds suspense. This feels more like trying to follow a half-dozen conversations that keep getting interrupted.

Two of these storylines — the ones with actual action — suffer from the diffusion. First, down in Mechanical, Knox plans to rob Supply because raiders are blocking the stairs, and their Supply ally Carla is still incarcerated, so the Down Deep is running low on essentials. Walker objects, arguing that they should be more focused on getting Carla back. When Bernard calls Walker to a secret meeting, he offers a deal: He’ll let her check to see that her ex-wife is okay in exchange for information about what the Mechanical rebels are planning.

The end result of all this backroom scheming is that the rebels’ robbery turns into an ambush, as they barge right into a room full of raiders. The whole caper sequence should be more exciting, but because we’ve already seen Walker’s betrayal, one of this episode’s only action sequences flattens out into “here is something else that happened.”

That leveling effect is even more bothersome when it comes to what’s going on in Silo 17. We left Juliette last week at a dramatic moment after she rapidly ascended through the silo’s flooded levels, only to discover a trail of blood and a missing Solo. As this episode begins, she’s in physical pain due to the bends — just as Solo had warned — and she’s trying to stay out of sight while she figures out who might’ve abducted or killed the silo’s only resident.

The Juliette sequences are spooky and unnerving, but frustratingly short. Altogether, the half-dozen or so scenes in Silo 17 cover about eight minutes, sprinkled throughout the episode, which isn’t enough time for them to become as involved as they should be.

That said, the Juliette parts of this episode do get somewhere surprising and promising by the end. Her attempts to sneak around prove unsuccessful, as she’s shot through the shoulder with an arrow by a shadowy figure who warns, “I killed him, and I’ll kill you too!” Later, wielding a shield and a knife, Juliette finds a body on the ground and checks to see if it might be Solo’s corpse. It turns out to be yet another attacker. After some hand-to-hand combat, Juliette is cornered by three people in total, all of whom appear to be quite young.

Who are these interlopers, and how did they get here? Did they actually kill Solo? Here’s hoping that next week we get to those answers more quickly, and in more detail.

    • Among the relics in Judge Meadows’s apartment: an Etch-a-Sketch, preserved under glass.

    • Shirley paints a name on the Down Deep’s secret memorial wall, adding “Cooper” to the list of Mechanical’s martyred rebels.

    • Both Knox and Shirley were recurring characters in season one, but neither got enough screen time to make a strong impression. It’s been a sometimes rocky adjustment to see them treated as A-story-worthy in season two, although, on the positive side, it’s been good to see Remmie Milner show more personality as Shirley. The conversation with Billings in the cafeteria isn’t just a way for Shirley to express skepticism about The Pact. It also allows her a moment to make fun of some rock-hard biscuits, and just generally to create a sense of her place within the history and culture of Silo 18’s lower levels.

    • Billings’s wife, Kathleen, gets her feelings hurt when she delivers a meal to Patrick Kennedy and finds out from him that her husband is carrying around a picture of the Blue Ridge Mountains, torn from that forbidden children’s book we first saw in season one. Billings claims he didn’t show it to Kathleen because it’s “dangerous,” but she demands to see it anyway. And why not? Perhaps the only way to save this silo is to stop keeping secrets.

In the latest episode of Silo, titled ‘The Book of Quinn’, fans were taken on an emotional rollercoaster as the true motives of Quinn were finally revealed.

The episode begins with Quinn’s past coming back to haunt him, as a figure from his childhood reappears and threatens to expose his darkest secrets. As Quinn struggles to keep his past hidden, tensions rise within the group as they begin to question his loyalty.

Meanwhile, tensions between the factions reach a boiling point as a power struggle ensues, leading to a shocking betrayal that leaves everyone reeling. With the fate of the Silo hanging in the balance, alliances are tested and decisions must be made that will change the course of their lives forever.

As the episode comes to a close, viewers are left on the edge of their seats as they wait to see what consequences Quinn’s actions will have on the group and what lies ahead for the Silo.

Tune in next week for another thrilling episode of Silo, as the drama continues to unfold and the stakes get higher than ever before.

  • Notable Analyst Urges Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers to Transfer

Notable Analyst Urges Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers to Transfer

The Texas Longhorns have gone on an impressive run this season. Led by quarterback Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns are now set to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the upcoming Cotton Bowl on January 10.

With that being said, Ewers himself is dealing with a tough decision ahead of him.

It was widely expected at the beginning of the year that Ewers would be a top-tier quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class. He has fallen off quite a bit from that expectation.

While he would still be drafted, he may not even be a first or even second round pick right now. Could that possibly lead to him wanting to come back for one more year of college football?

Unfortunately for Ewers, Texas seems ready to move on and start Arch Manning in 2025. That could mean that if Ewers opted for one more college season, he would have to transfer elsewhere.

That is exactly what NFL Draft expert Todd McShay would like to see him do.

Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is pictured.

Before the Longhorns’ win over the Arizona State Sun Devils, McShay urged Ewers to play one more year in college and enter the transfer portal.

“I know that Quinn has said he’s leaving this year and going to the NFL, I think he should reconsider,” McShay said. “I think Quinn Ewers would benefit… I think playing more, different environment, getting out of Austin, different system, could bring out the best in him.”

McShay may think the grass would be greener elsewhere, but Texas has offered Ewers a great place to play. Their system has fit his play style and they have surrounded him with talent.

Granted, he could transfer to another team and end up finding major success. One potential team that could be a team to watch in the transfer portal would be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That would be a quality landing spot that would offer Ewers a chance at some success.

During the 2024 college football season, Ewers completed 66.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,189 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He has also scored two touchdowns on the ground.

He is still one of the most talented quarterbacks in the nation and would be a hot commodity if he did choose to test the transfer portal market.

All of that being said, Ewers will have to make a tough decision. Does he return to college and transfer away from the Longhorns? Or does he simply try his luck in the 2025 NFL Draft?

Only time will tell, but it’s a decision that he will have to make in the near future.

Recently, a notable analyst has urged Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers to consider transferring to another school. Ewers, a highly touted recruit and former five-star prospect, has struggled to find playing time in his first season with the Longhorns.

The analyst, who has closely followed Ewers’ career, believes that a transfer could be beneficial for the young quarterback. With the emergence of another quarterback on the Texas roster, Ewers may have a better opportunity to showcase his talents and compete for a starting job elsewhere.

While Ewers may have had high expectations coming into Texas, it is important for him to prioritize his development and playing time. A transfer could provide him with the opportunity to grow and succeed at a new program.

It will be interesting to see if Ewers considers this advice and makes a move in the near future. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

Will Quinn Ewers leave Texas for another college? He has 6 million reasons to consider it

ATLANTA – Sam Leavitt didn’t back down from last week’s assertion that he’ll be the best quarterback in the Peach Bowl on New Year’s Day, which, by all appearances, didn’t offend Quinn Ewers in the least. Like a Mastiff regarding a yapping Chihuahua. Ewers isn’t concerned about his status as it relates to Arizona State’s brash young quarterback.

His status in relation to the quarterback behind him?

    A better question.

On3 reported Tuesday that Ewers has a $6 million offer to play for an unidentified team next year, and not one in the NFL, if you can believe it.

Even if Ewers were to pass on the draft, which was unthinkable a month ago but now seems more thinkable by the day, why would he consider a college team other than Texas next year?

He’d have at least 6 million reasons, apparently.

No. 1 is that it’ll be Arch Manning’s job.

Going into this season all the way up until the last month or so, everyone just assumed this was pretty much the natural order of things in Austin. Ewers, who’d been projected a first-round pick, would move on to the NFL and Manning would assume the family legacy. The fact that Manning would wait as long as two years to start in an era when a quarterback might get up to go to the bathroom in Los Angeles and end up in Louisville is a story in itself.

Manning, who’s as old school as his grandfather and idol, reiterated Monday that he’s never even considered the portal.

“I’ve just always been taught to work hard, put my head down and just wait for my opportunity,” he said. “I trust Coach Sark.

“And that’s what I’m doing right now.”

Just the same, even a Manning has his limits. Two years as a sideline decoration is one thing.

    Three?

    No chance.

For the record, Sarkisian has said he’s never talked with Ewers about his plans. If you believe that, you’ve never known a teenager. Sark knows, which is why Manning trusts him. He won’t find himself in the same hole Brent Venables fell into last year when he said he had no idea Dillon Gabriel wasn’t turning pro. By the time Venables talked to his former quarterback, who’d been told by NFL scouts he wasn’t ready to play on Sundays, Gabriel was already on his way to Eugene. Worked out nicely for himself as well as the Ducks.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma is coming off only its second losing season this century, and Venables owns both.

One more and he’s tied for the school record.

Losing doesn’t wear well on Sooner coaches.

Gabriel’s case draws some similarities as well as a distinct difference with the one at Texas. One train of thought in Norman was that Gabriel had to leave to make room for Jackson Arnold, a former five-star recruit from Denton Guyer who might have left if Gabriel returned. As it turned out, he Ieft anyway after a so-so season at best.

If Venables let Gabriel walk to give the job to Arnold, he made a serious mistake.

Would Sark make the same if he pushed Ewers out the door to let in Manning?

    No.

Over the course of a season that saw Texas become the only team from last year to return to the playoffs — something Sarkisian brings up whenever possible — Ewers’ draft stock took a serious hit. Mel Kiper’s latest big board ranked him fifth behind Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward, Jalen Milroe and Carson Beck and ahead of Kurtis Rourke, Jaxson Dart and Gabriel.

On a recent First Draft podcast, Kiper also said this: “Arch Manning is going to be the quarterback at Texas next year. So if you want to play college football, you probably have to move on somewhere. I would do that if I’m Quinn Ewers. I would not come out unless I really played phenomenal football in these playoff games and came into this draft process with tremendous momentum. I don’t want to become a second- or third-round pick.”

Ewers was pretty good in the first-round win over Clemson and chances are he’ll be even better Wednesday against Arizona State. The Sun Devils tied for 91st nationally in sacks with 21. This is good news for Ewers, who wasn’t so elusive even before hurting his right ankle. Give him time and he’ll pick Arizona State’s secondary apart.

Even if he looks like the second coming of Joe Burrow in whatever’s left of the Longhorns’ season, though, will it be enough to impress scouts?

The NFL is increasingly a league where a good quarterback is one who can use his feet to make something out of nothing. The days of a quarterback dealing from the pocket like Troy Aikman or Tom Brady are going, going …

Then again, another season of college football might give Ewers a chance to make a different impression. Six million bucks wouldn’t hurt his feelings, either. More than he’d make if he went into the draft.

Could he take Gabriel’s place in Oregon? Riley Leonard’s at Notre Dame? Could he save Lincoln Riley’s job at USC?

He’s already proven he can win in Tuscaloosa.

But would Ewers be worth 6 million anywhere? Consider Johntay Cook, the former DeSoto and Texas receiver who left the Longhorns for Washington this year, doubtful.

“Wasting yall money fr” he tweeted.

Whatever happens, Ewers won’t hold it against Manning, who conceded Monday it’s “probably not easy” for the starting quarterback to hear about his backup all the time. For his part, Ewers said they have a good relationship. It’s been fun. Nothing personal. Just the business of college football these days. Big business getting bigger all the time.

With the recent news that Quinn Ewers, the highly touted quarterback recruit, has made the decision to leave the University of Texas, many are speculating about where he may end up next. Ewers, who was once considered the future of the Longhorns football program, now has 6 million reasons to consider transferring to another college.

Ewers, who reclassified to join the Texas program a year early, was set to cash in on a lucrative name, image, and likeness deal worth 6 million dollars. However, with the recent coaching changes at Texas and uncertainty surrounding his role on the team, Ewers has decided to explore other options.

Many schools are lining up to try and secure Ewers’ services, with programs like Ohio State, Alabama, and Oklahoma all rumored to be potential landing spots for the talented quarterback. With the potential to earn a significant amount of money and play for a top-tier program, Ewers will have plenty to consider as he weighs his options.

Only time will tell where Ewers ultimately decides to play next, but one thing is for certain – with 6 million reasons to consider leaving Texas, the quarterback’s future is certainly up in the air. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
