    Perfect for Apple ProRes video!

    In all, I've purchased 4 of these enclosures each with a 2 TB M.2 NVMe and they work great! I do wish they supported higher speeds other than a max of 10 Gbps as both my M.2 and USB C cables are much faster – the USB C cable I'm using supports up to 40 Gbps so there is a missed speed bonus to be sure.

    Having said all that, it is still more than able to record Apple ProRes 4K 60 fps with zero dropped frames and zero wait time when you stop recording.

    The enclosure is very well made and includes everything you need to use it except the M.2 card. When shopping for your NVMe card to use with this be sure to check the size and compatibility before you buy the card to help save you some frustration. If you are planning to use Apple ProRes 4K 60 fps but remember the file sizes are super huge. A 2 TB SSD will give you about 1.5 hours.

    If I could change anything or make a suggestion to improve upon this enclosure it would be to make it thinner. I'm no engineer, but from what I can see the height could easily be cut in half or more. This would also make it lighter, but more importantly a thinner enclosure might actually make it possible to use while on a handheld gimble.

    I see 1000MB/s from this with quality cables and to a suitable port. It is a nice well made case. I had selected this one because of the PD port that can offer power and data to a connected device. Unfortunately my Panasonic GH7 camera would only take power or data from this device and not both at the same time (a camera limitation). There are faster drives in this form factor and there are also smaller USB sticks of this speed, but if you have a device that can use both PD power and data from the single connection then this is a good choice.

    This is such a great idea!

    Especially when you're on that photographic adventure of wanting to take highest-quality shots yet you really don't want to totally fill up your phone with a day of maybe-keep day of shooting…

    Enter this device: Shoot to your heart's content, and exactly backwards of the usual dilemma of having to fill up your phone and then hunt down a way to get files moved to somewhere else to "sort later"… this little unit flips that on its head:

    Shoot all you want and get it "over there first"… then just bring back to the phone anything you truly want there.

    Absolutely ingenious! This will speed along my moviemaking adventures tremendously!
    Like having Network Attached Storage (NAS) right here on the back of my phone! PEACHY!

    Strong magnets, it holds securely to the back of the phone. It comes with a spare set of screws and one additional heat pad. It has an extra PD USB-C port for power, when the NVME card needs power above 4.5A. It’s best to use it plugged into a wall outlet or a battery pack, as it will suck dry the power of your phone fast.

    The large sized capacitor is a welcome safety feature against data corruption, it provides emergency power to the unit for 10 seconds. The capacitor needs 30 mins to recharge.

    Transfer speeds is limited by the USB 3.2 bus, which is about 900 Mb/s. So a higher speed card would not matter.

    Depending on your needs, a phone with more internal memory might be a better choice for some people.
    The drive can also be used as an external drive for your computer.

    Pass-through charging and storage expansion for laptops or phones/tablets

    This NVMe enclosure is great for use on the road, especially since you can power the drive and phone externally (as with this one), but I also keep a couple stuck to my desktop PC for periodic backups and fast data transfer. The 2230 NVMe drives are available in up to 2TB – I generally use 256 or 512GB – and you can use them with any USB computer or mobile device. I don't have a good way to measure performance on the iPhone but I'm usually not complaining on that front, or on the desktop backup front for that matter.

    This one isn't tool-free, but I usually don't have to swap drives often in these so that's not a bad thing.
