  • Gary Lineker has his say on the poor form of “brilliant” Raheem Sterling

As many of us have witnessed this season, it’s been a little up and down performance wise.

Taking apart teams one week with some of the best football we’ve seen at the Emirates in years, and looking sluggish and moribund as an attacking force the next.

Frustrating? Certainly. Such is the journey we are on as Arsenal slowly but surely climb their way to the Premier League summit.

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon. Trust in the process and all that.

For all of the media narratives that get peddled about this beloved club, the fact remains that it’s still on an upward trajectory.

It goes without saying that a trophy or two wouldn’t be sniffed at, but the pillars are being put in place so that the first-team can flourish for years to come.

There have been some brilliant success stories over the course of Mikel Arteta’s tenure, whilst some players haven’t really lived up to expectations.

Raheem Sterling could be said to be one of the latter, and those searching for a reason why his form has been so poor might cock an ear in Gary Lineker’s direction.

One goal and two assists in 16 games (transfermarkt) shows a player in evident decline.

Lineker believes the levels he reached earlier in his career could be to blame.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, the Match of the Day host noted:

“I love Raheem, I always have. He has been a brilliant player for so long.

“Do you know what I like about Raheem? He is always willing to put himself up for it. He is never afraid.

“If there was a penalty next week, if he was allowed, he’d put grab that ball and go and take it.

“I admire him for it. It’s one of the reasons that he has had the career he’s had.

“I know it’s not been probably what he would have wanted over the last couple of years but I wonder if that’s because he played so much football at such a young age.”

Whether he can recapture some of that early career form is debatable, and the likelihood is he’ll remain a squad player for Arteta at best.

Former England striker and football pundit Gary Lineker has weighed in on the recent poor form of Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling, calling the player “brilliant” but expressing concern over his recent performances.

In a recent interview, Lineker praised Sterling’s talent and ability on the pitch, describing him as a “brilliant player” with immense potential. However, Lineker also highlighted Sterling’s recent struggles and questioned his form in front of goal.

“Raheem Sterling is a fantastic player, there’s no denying that. But his recent performances have left a lot to be desired,” Lineker said. “He’s not been as clinical in front of goal as we know he can be, and that’s a concern for both Manchester City and England.”

Lineker’s comments come after a series of underwhelming performances from Sterling, who has struggled to find the back of the net in recent matches. Despite his undeniable talent, Sterling’s form has raised questions about his role in the Manchester City team and his place in the England squad.

“It’s important for Raheem to get back to his best form as soon as possible,” Lineker added. “He’s a key player for both club and country, and he needs to start delivering on the pitch.”

Whether Sterling can rediscover his form remains to be seen, but with the support of fans and football experts like Gary Lineker, there’s hope that the talented forward can bounce back and prove his doubters wrong.

  • Has Raheem Sterling already started his last game for Arsenal?

Mikel Arteta handed Raheem Sterling a rare start as Arsenal looked to navigate their final Champions League league-phase match against Girona on Wednesday night.

Despite some positive flashes early on during the 2-1 win in Spain, Sterling’s performance was overshadowed by a missed penalty in the dying embers of the contest.

Sterling’s loan spell from Chelsea hasn’t quite got going — and on the latest episode of Handbrake Off, Ian Stone was joined by Art de Roché and Adrian Clarke to discuss the winger’s struggles.

A partial transcript has been edited for clarity and length. The full episode is available on the “Handbrake Off” feed on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Ian: Let’s talk about Raheem Sterling. I actually thought that he started pretty well. I liked his energy and I liked how he was playing trying to make those little triangles. But he shouldn’t have taken a penalty. I think we can all see that he didn’t look particularly confident. Is that going to affect him? He’s not an inexperienced player, you have bad moments on a football pitch — that’s how it works. But the best ones do recover quickly, and it’s not like he hasn’t been there and done that. But it’s not happening for him at Arsenal, is it?

Art: I don’t think the penalty should have too big an impact. Like you, I thought he started the game well and was probably Arsenal’s best player in the first 10 minutes off that left. You saw him have an actual spark in the way he carried the ball. The little pass he made for Calafiori’s offside goal was nice as well. But it’s just annoying and frustrating that it’s almost a similar story to the week where Arsenal played Manchester United and then Tottenham.

He was really bright against Manchester United and then you come to the Tottenham game and he’s a shadow of that. That all just seemed to happen in the space of one game yesterday and it’s hard to see him being an option from the start in the Premier League or knockout stages of the Champions League off the wings. It’s just not quite happened for him.

Ian: Adrian, he’s not starting another game, is he? To be fair, he might come off the bench for 10 or 15 minutes. But unless there are injuries he’s not starting, is he?

Adrian: No, he hasn’t grabbed the opportunity, I think that’s fair to say. Nice in flashes but probably run down too many blind alleys. Just lacking confidence. The penalty incident did annoy me a little bit, I’ve got to say. I thought it was the wrong time to give out a sort of ‘pick-me-up’ penalty. There were much better penalty-takers available.

I say this because Raheem Sterling has now converted two of his last eight penalties excluding shootouts. So, he’d missed two of seven outside of shootouts (before Girona). Anyone who’s missed two of seven shouldn’t be on pens again, that’s a terrible ratio.

And that could have cost us; if that goal was allowed to stand that they scored towards the end and made it 2-2, we would drop down to fifth. Fifth place means you could easily get City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, any of those teams in the last-16. So, it really mattered, and I was hugely surprised that they went for that ‘pick-me-up’ pen.

Ian: Do you think he plays with his head down a little bit? I play five-a-side on a Monday and there are certain players you think, ‘Get your head up, get your head up, just see!’ I think it happens at all levels, it really does.

You get players who are so concentrated, they’re running and they’re just looking at the ball and they don’t see the runs (and) don’t see you’re waving. You don’t want to shout because the marker will come across so you just sort of see if you can wave. I get that feeling with Raheem Sterling, there are passes on — quick first-time passes back the other way — and he doesn’t make them because he hasn’t got his head up.

Adrian: We’ve all got the same frustrations. When I think about Raheem and his best moments, for me they’re scoring goals inside the six-yard box throughout his career. And he very rarely pops up in those positions for Arsenal, I think he almost plays too wide. I’d love to see him just make those runs in as a second striker.

Ian: Yeah (runs) round the back. Against Fulham when Martinelli played that ball in that Saka got on the end of and the goal was disallowed; that’s the sort of position Sterling often used to find himself in for Manchester City. Around the back coming in on a cross and he’d suddenly sweep it in. He got 20 goals one season doing that.

There has been much speculation surrounding Raheem Sterling’s future at Arsenal, with rumors swirling that the talented winger may be on the outs at the club. After a lackluster performance in his last game, many fans and analysts are questioning whether Sterling has already played his final match in an Arsenal shirt.

Despite showing flashes of brilliance throughout his time at the club, Sterling has struggled to consistently perform at the level expected of him. With younger, more promising talents emerging in the squad, it is possible that Arsenal may be looking to move on from Sterling in order to make room for new players.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, it is worth considering whether Sterling’s days at Arsenal are numbered. Only time will tell if he will be given another chance to prove himself, or if his last game in an Arsenal jersey has indeed already come to pass. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Raheem Sterling’s North London Derby performance was seriously overlooked for one surprising reason

Deadline day loan signing Raheem Sterling earned his third Premier League start for Arsenal.

Arsenal beat Tottenham in the North London Derby to move within four points of Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta made the bold decision to start Sterling in the monumental fixture, despite the loanee struggling for form since his transfer.

While Sterling earned mixed reviews against Manchester United, Arteta showed his trust in the 30-year-old, handing him the keys to the right wing.

Raheem Sterling impressed for Arsenal against Tottenham

After recovering from injury, Sterling returned at the perfect time as both Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus were lost to injuries.

The Chelsea loanee has been struggling for form since arriving at Arsenal however, there have been some encouraging signs from the Englishman.

Such was evident against Spurs, as Sterling stepped up in an area of his game that is rarely spoken about.

    80% passes completed
    2 blocked shots
    2 dribbles
    7 duels won

    2 clearances
    Figures provided by Sofascore

As seen above, the England international won seven duels in the North London Derby, the joint-most within the Arsenal squad, tied with defender Jurrien Timber.

The winger put in a real shift on the right flank and despite Sterling frustrating Arsenal fans, his contribution in the wide areas did cause Spurs problems.

Sure, the 30-year-old’s finishing and final ball could have been better however, there is little to complain about when reviewing his application in the must-win game.

Sterling has a chance to impress Mikel Arteta

Arteta knew of Sterling’s record against Tottenham going into the fixture but unfortunately, the Englishman wasn’t able to add to his tally.

That being said, there were plenty of positives to take from the loanee’s performance, with the rusty areas of his game partly due to his lack of minutes.

Amid Arsenal’s dire injury situation in attack, Arteta will have some assurance that he can count on Sterling to bring some experience and trickery to the wide areas.

All that’s needed is for the Premier League winner to offer more with his final ball, which will surely come with additional minutes and building confidence.

Raheem Sterling’s North London Derby performance was seriously overlooked for one surprising reason

Raheem Sterling put on a masterclass performance in the recent North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, yet his incredible display seemed to have gone unnoticed by many fans and pundits alike.

The surprising reason behind this lack of recognition? It seems that all eyes were on the controversial incidents that occurred during the match, overshadowing Sterling’s standout performance on the pitch.

Despite being heavily involved in the game and causing constant problems for the opposition defense, Sterling’s contributions were seemingly brushed aside in light of the drama that unfolded throughout the match.

It’s a shame that Sterling’s exceptional performance was overshadowed by external factors, as his skill and determination deserved to be praised and celebrated. Hopefully, fans and pundits will take a closer look at his performance and give credit where credit is due.

Raheem Sterling’s North London Derby performance may have been overlooked, but his talent and ability on the pitch certainly did not go unnoticed by those who truly appreciate the beauty of the game.

  • What’s going on with Raheem Sterling? Arsenal insiders reveal the truth behind winger’s crisis of confidence to SAMI MOKBEL

There was a time in Raheem Sterling’s career when he didn’t need to overthink.

Cutting in from the left to slide home at the back post following a Riyad Mahrez pass across the six-yard box became a perpetual – and seemingly unstoppable – feature of Manchester City’s thrilling attacking repertoire.

Sterling would often repay the favour to his Algerian colleague. Like clockwork. We’d see Sterling score the same goal or supply the same assist week after week after week.

There was more to his game, of course. Just ask Pep Guardiola. There was freedom and buoyancy to Sterling that captured the imagination. But recently that muscle memory has escaped him.

The Sterling who’d emerged as one of European football’s most prominent attacking talents – don’t forget that in 2019 he had an astonishing 53 goals and assists for City, behind only Lionel Messi (55) – is now a shadow of his former self.

The sight of Sterling’s pained expression as he trudged off the field following his 61st-minute substitution in Wednesday night’s north London derby was a hard watch.

Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez were once two prongs of a devastating Man City attack

As such, seeing him trudging off on Wednesday night on 61 minutes was a difficult watch

As such, seeing him trudging off on Wednesday night on 61 minutes was a difficult watch

Did I? Should I? What if? You could see Sterling’s brain working overtime during what was a ineffective hour for the attacker in what was unquestionably his biggest night in an Arsenal shirt so far.

And therein lies the problem for Sterling, as he tries to bounce back in north London after being pushed out by Chelsea last summer. Overthinking on a football pitch is a vibe killer. That effervescent aura we’d come to associate with the 30-year-old has deserted him during his loan stint at the Emirates Stadium.

A player, who those behind the scenes at Arsenal will tell you, is suffering from a crisis of confidence which is, perhaps, understandable given the off-field attention he receives. Everyone has an opinion on Sterling, and when those judgements are negative it can be hard to avoid.

Not that Mikel Arteta is writing him off just yet. With Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus out with long-term injuries, Arsenal need Sterling more than ever. They are down to just four fit forwards, alongside Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, and are still – just about – in three competitions.

Arteta was full of praise for Sterling’s showing after coming on as a 40th-minute substitute in place of Jesus in Sunday’s FA Cup third round loss to Manchester United, when the Brazilian suffered the ACL injury that will rule him out for up to a year.

Even in his disappointing showing against Tottenham on Wednesday night, Sterling won more duels and made more tackles than any player on the pitch during the opening 45 minutes. Those are the sort of numbers that go unnoticed, but the sort Arteta certainly appreciates.

Yet, defensive discipline was not what Sterling was signed for and you sense the Emirates crowd want more from the forward. That’s understandable. We remember the player he was; the achievements during seven trophy-laden years at the Etihad.

Of course, his career at City wasn’t always a bed of roses. His start under Guardiola saw him linked with a move away during the opening months of the Spaniard’s reign.

During England’s disastrous Euro 2016 campaign, Sterling labelled himself the ‘hated one’ after criticism over his performances in France during the tournament.

Sterling is used to being in the line of fire, but by and large his performances and numbers have kept him from harms reach. External critiques and pressure is something Sterling has, historically, fought hard to cope with.

Some players are able to shut themselves away from social media and the world of 24 hour news. But Sterling isn’t cut from that cloth. With that in mind, it is likely the criticisms aimed in his direction in recent weeks won’t have gone unnoticed.

There is, of course, an acknowledgement that his loan move across London from Chelsea has not developed in the manner he’d have wanted. Sterling will accept that. But, equally, Arteta would be the first to acknowledge that the circumstances of an injury-disrupted season have worked against Sterling.

And when he did get a chance, he had to be hooked in the 30th minute of only his second Premier League start for the club, when Arteta had to switch tack following William Saliba’s sending-off at Bournemouth on October 19.

Only last month the Arsenal manager said: ‘It’s been tough and very difficult for me as well to accept that I haven’t given him more. When he hasn’t started the games, 90 per cent of the subs that I make is related to saving minutes or because of injuries or avoiding injuries. It’s not tactical reasons.

‘I would like him to play much more as I think he can impact the team in a very good way. He’s very good in the dressing room and is absolutely desperate to play. Hopefully we can change it.’

Finding rhythm and match fitness are the most pertinent factors behind Sterling’s struggles. He has only made seven appearances in the league so far – four of those from the substitutes bench – and only 13 in all, with his solitary Arsenal goal coming in a 5-1 League Cup victory against Bolton. These are hardly ideal conditions for player who is bedding into a new team.

Those formidable attacking combinations and almost telepathic understandings he’d developed with team-mates at City out of reach due to his lack of game time. A knee injury suffered last month hasn’t helped, either.

Yet there’s still time to change the narrative. Speak to those at the club’s training HQ, they’ll describe a player who has maintained his professionalism despite the inconsistencies.

Sitting on the bench for someone of Sterling’s gravitas isn’t easy, but by all accounts he has been respectful and encouraging of those ahead of him in the pecking order.

With Arsenal looking to strengthen in forward areas ahead of next season, it appears likely that his time in north London will come to an end in the summer, while Chelsea have made clear he is not part of their plans.

Sterling wants to play at the highest level for as long as he possibly can. His obsession during this campaign to prove his worth will serve to ensure he has the opportunities to do fulfil those ambitions heading into next season.

Considering his body of work it would be a risk to bet against Sterling. His achievements speak for themselves. The trophies, the goals, the assists, 82 England caps and a starring role in the run to the Euro 2020 final. He deserves respect.

But the past counts for very little, Sterling doesn’t need reminding of that. Can he prove people wrong… again?

Raheem Sterling, the talented winger for Arsenal, has been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks as he struggles with a crisis of confidence on the pitch. Many fans and pundits have been left wondering what’s going on with the usually dynamic player.

However, according to insiders at Arsenal, the truth behind Sterling’s struggles may not be what it seems. In an exclusive interview with SAMI MOKBEL, these sources reveal that Sterling has been dealing with personal issues off the field that have been affecting his performance on it.

It’s a side of the story that has not been widely reported, but it sheds new light on Sterling’s recent struggles. As one insider explained, “Raheem is going through a tough time right now and it’s important for fans to understand that there are things going on in his personal life that are impacting his game.”

While Sterling’s performances may have dipped in recent matches, it’s clear that he has the support of his teammates and the club as he works through his issues. With the right support and understanding, there’s hope that Sterling will soon be back to his best and lighting up the pitch once again.

Stay tuned for more updates on Raheem Sterling’s journey and how Arsenal is supporting him through this difficult time.

  • Atlanta Falcons Coach Raheem Morris Has Taken Bigger Role with Defense

Atlanta Falcons Coach Raheem Morris Has Taken Bigger Role with Defense

LANDOVER, Md. — The Atlanta Falcons‘ defense enters Sunday night’s game against the Washington Commanders riding a wave of momentum — one that has the unit amongst the NFL’s best over the past six weeks.

Atlanta is second in the NFL in both sacks (16) and yards allowed (275.8) and is fifth in scoring defense, allowing only 18.8 points per game.

The turnaround comes after the Falcons entering their Week 12 bye ranked in the bottom-fourth of the league in all three categories.

On the first day of Atlanta’s bye week, which came after the team’s 38-6 loss to the Denver Broncos on Nov. 17, linebacker Kaden Elliss said the Falcons simply needed to execute better.

Evidently, the solution wasn’t just execution.

Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, who spent the previous three seasons as the defensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams, has grown more involved in the defense’s operation, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport said Sunday morning.

“One of the reasons the Falcons’ defense has been better is — my understanding, after the Broncos game, Raheem Morris, their head coach, took more of a heavy hand in the defense,” Rapoport said. “There’s been significant improvement.”

    So, what happened?

At the bye week, Morris did his own self-scout of the defense, as did defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake and each of the team’s assistants.

Perhaps the biggest takeaway the Falcons found centered around personnel. Apart from assistant head coach/defense Jerry Gray, Atlanta’s defensive coaching staff is entirely new.

The Falcons thought they knew their players, but Morris said it’s hard to truly know the intricacies of each until they’re actually at the team’s disposal. So, given three months of near-daily interaction and 11 games of film to evaluate, the root of who, exactly, the Falcons had with each player grew clear.

    Suddenly, their pass rush blossomed.

“You have some thoughts and some visions for what people can do and what they can really do well, and you just bring it to the table,” Morris said Monday. “And then, Jimmy can give me the credit, but it’s up to all of us really to put them in and implement the things and understand what we want to get done in order for us to rush as one.”

Lake inferred Morris took a larger role after the bye week, but Morris doesn’t want the attention for the Falcons’ revamped defense — or at least not all of it.

“You got to give credit not just to me, but to really our entire coaching staff,” Morris said, “for having the humility, first of all, to come together and do those things and not being just egotistically driven that it’s going to be a one-man show that has to have 20 sacks, but how do we rush together in order to get our things to work how we want to make them work.”

The Falcons (8-7) hope to continue their strong defensive form against the Commanders (10-5) at 8:20 p.m. Sunday inside Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

The Atlanta Falcons have announced that interim head coach Raheem Morris will be taking on a larger role with the team’s defense. Morris, who also serves as the team’s defensive coordinator, has been praised for his work with the defense since taking over as head coach earlier this season.

Under Morris’ leadership, the Falcons defense has shown improvement in recent weeks, holding opponents to fewer points and yards. Morris has been praised for his ability to motivate and inspire his players, as well as his creative play-calling and strategic game-planning.

With Morris now taking on an even bigger role with the defense, Falcons fans can expect to see continued improvement on that side of the ball. Morris has a proven track record of success as a defensive coach in the NFL, and his leadership will be crucial as the Falcons look to finish the season strong.

It remains to be seen if Morris will be named the permanent head coach of the Falcons, but his performance in his current role certainly makes a strong case for him to be considered for the job. Regardless of what the future holds, Falcons fans can take comfort in knowing that their defense is in good hands with Raheem Morris at the helm.

  • Raheem Morris crashed the SNF live on-air, and it was amazing

Raheem Morris crashed the SNF live on-air, and it was amazing

Going into Week 17, the Atlanta Falcons controlled their own destiny. It’s a cliché, but it was true. The Falcons walked into their Sunday Night Football matchup with the Washington Commanders knowing that, if they won, they continued to stay atop the NFC South.

If the Falcons were to win out the rest of the way and earn two victories, they win the division and earn an automatic playoff berth.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are right behind them, though, and after beating the Carolina Panthers earlier in the day, the Bucs temporarily held a half-game lead in the division. There was a lot on the line for Washington to end Sunday of Week 17.

Leading up to kickoff, of course, NBC had their crew chatting up just how important this matchup was to both sides. As Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison and Jac Collinsworth were discussing, Dungy mentioned the Falcons defense and their needing to slow down the run game of Washington.

Raheem Morris looked excited and ready for Sunday Night Football

Right on queue, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris crashed the pregame party on set and gave each of the three analysts a hug while looking ready to roll for the night. Spirits were high. Vibes were good. Morris looked and felt the part of a coach that knew what was at stake.

Because he stopped by mid-commentary, Morris was put on the spot when Dungy asked for a quick interview.

“Give us a game plan right now coach. What do we have to do?” asked the Hall of Fame coach.

“Hey we got to go out here and we got to stop this run,” Morris said, emphatically.

“As I was saying, they were going to commit to stopping the run,” Dungy happily reiterated.

Going into Week 17, the Commanders remained constant in their commitment to the run and were no. 5 in the league on the ground. Washington had averaged 152.7 yards per game on the ground thanks to the tandem of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels and running back Brian Robinson, both rushing for over 700 yards apiece on the season through 15 games.

So, Dungy was right on with his assessment of what the Falcons needed to do and, as predicted, that’s exactly what Morris stated in his quick interview after crashing the set.

Defensively, Atlanta owned the NFL’s no. 11 run defense going into the game as well. So, this was a matchup of two teams in the top third in this category.

Last night, viewers tuning into Sunday Night Football got more than they bargained for when Raheem Morris, the defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams, crashed the live broadcast in a hilarious and unexpected way.

As Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth were discussing the Rams’ impressive defensive performance, Morris suddenly appeared behind them, waving and photobombing the shot. The commentators were caught off guard, but quickly embraced the moment, with Michaels jokingly asking Morris if he had any defensive tips to share.

The impromptu cameo from Morris added a fun and light-hearted moment to the broadcast, showcasing his playful personality and camaraderie with the NBC crew. Fans on social media were quick to praise Morris for his spontaneity and good humor, making the moment a highlight of the game.

It’s moments like these that remind us why we love live sports – you never know what might happen next. Kudos to Raheem Morris for bringing some unexpected entertainment to Sunday Night Football. Who knows what he’ll do next? Tune in next week to find out!

3 mins agoThe Carolina Panthers placed lead running back Chuba Hubbard (calf, knee) on season-ending Injured Reserve on Saturday, meaning that Raheem Blackshear will now be elevated to a prominent role in Carolina’s backfield for the final two weeks of the season. The 26-year-old is currently the only healthy RB on the Panthers’ roster, but the team will surely elevate Mike Boone from the practice squad for the Week 17 contest on Sunday against the division-rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Fantasy managers that had been riding Hubbard’s excellent season could now pivot to Blackshear, although he shouldn’t be viewed as much more than a last-minute RB3/flex pivot in a matchup against a Tampa defense that has allowed the fewest half-PPR points to RBs in the last five weeks. Blackshear’s role will grow for sure, but he could also be splitting valuable touches with Boone.Keith Hernandez – RotoBaller

As we head into the final week of the fantasy football season, Raheem Blackshear is a player to keep an eye on. The versatile running back has been a key contributor for his team all season long and has the potential to put up big numbers in Week 17.

Blackshear has been a dual-threat out of the backfield, making an impact both as a runner and a receiver. His ability to break tackles and make defenders miss in the open field has made him a valuable asset for fantasy owners.

In Week 17, Blackshear faces a favorable matchup against a struggling defense that has struggled to contain opposing running backs. This could be a prime opportunity for him to have a breakout performance and put up some serious fantasy points.

If you’re in need of a running back for your fantasy lineup in Week 17, Raheem Blackshear could be the player to turn to. Keep an eye on his performance and consider starting him with confidence in your lineup.

With Chuba Hubbard (calf/knee) slated to be placed on IR, Blackshear is in line to see added work during the Panthers’ final two regular season games, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Aside from Hubbard, Blackshear is currently the only other running back on the Panthers’ 53-man roster ahead of Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers, but Mike Boone and Emani Bailey are on the team’s practice squad, with Schefter noting Saturday that Blackshear and Boone (pending his elevation) are likely to share backfield work in Week 17.

  • Raheem Blackshear News: Full go for Wednesday

Blackshear (chest) was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

Blackshear missed Carolina’s Week 15 loss to the Cowboys after sustaining a chest injury the game prior, however, Wednesday’s full practice session suggests he’s already moved past the issue. The Virginia Tech product will likely have a larger offensive role for the remainder of the season, serving as the Panthers’ No. 2 running back with Jonathon Brooks (knee) and Miles Sanders (ankle) both on injured reserve.

Raheem Blackshear: Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 17 (2024)

BALLER MOVE: Add if you own Chuba Hubbard

    ROSTERED IN: 0% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: With Chuba Hubbard dealing with a knee injury and officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers, Raheem Blackshear is a potential add in some leagues heading into Week 17. However, fantasy managers should only add him if they currently roster Hubbard.

If Hubbard were to miss this week’s game, Blackshear would be in line for a bigger workload. With Jonathon Brooks (knee) out for the season and Miles Sanders (ankle) still on injured reserve, the 26-year-old running back would see the majority of carries out of the backfield for the Panthers on Sunday. In that case, he would be a potential flex play in 12-plus team leagues.

But Blackshear isn’t really worth an add in most leagues right now. It sounds like Hubbard will be good enough to play in Week 17 after practicing in a limited fashion on Thursday and Friday.
