Cody Rhodes has mixed feelings regarding standing across the ring from John Cena in his retirement year.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes recently sat down with TheOneMona. When asked about the possibility of facing John Cena this year before he retires from in-ring competition, Rhodes explained why he’s hesitant to be in that position.

“One thing that’s been on my mind, I think when he announced he was retiring, is a lot of guys jumped to the line of, I want to wrestle John,” Cody Rhodes said. “A lot of guys jumped to the, ‘I want to do something with John.’ I’m probably the one who didn’t hold his hand up and that’s simply because John is everything to me and there’s been so many guys I’m a product of who I took a little something from.

“The most that I’ve taken from anybody ever would be from John, and that was from driving those few years of them seeing how he did his interactions with fans, how he would do main events, to see how he did the quarterback, the leader all those things. So when I hear this is it, It’s still not fully for me.

Cody Rhodes says he dreads the thought of having to beat John Cena this year

“I don’t love this is it and I know it is. I know he means it when he says it. But I want to watch like a fan. I almost dread the idea of what that would look like. Because when you’re up against John now, you’re tasked to beat John Cena in his final run and that’s why I’m not raising my hand to be in that spot.” [H/T: Fightful]

What do you make of Cody Rhodes’ comments? Do you think we’ll see him in the ring with John Cena at some point this year? Let us know your thoughts by sounding off in the comments section below.

I’m Not Raising My Hand To Be In That Spot

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you feel pressured to speak up or volunteer for something you’re not comfortable with? Maybe it’s in a meeting at work, a social gathering, or even just a simple classroom setting. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to remember that you have the right to say no and not feel obligated to put yourself in a spot that makes you uneasy.

I’ve been in situations like this before, where I felt like I had to raise my hand or volunteer for something just to avoid any awkwardness or confrontation. But as I’ve grown older, I’ve learned that it’s okay to stand up for myself and politely decline if I’m not comfortable with a certain task or responsibility.

So the next time you find yourself in a spot where you feel pressured to raise your hand, remember that it’s perfectly okay to say no. Your well-being and comfort should always come first, and you should never feel obligated to put yourself in a situation that doesn’t sit right with you. Trust your instincts and remember that it’s okay to prioritize your own happiness and peace of mind.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan explores the early life of everyone’s favorite villain Kanan Stark, originally played by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson in the flagship series, and shows his evolution from a näive teenager to a cutthroat villain. Season 3 saw an epic showdown between Kanan (Mekai Curtis) and his mother Raq (Patina Miller), resulting in a couple of surprise deaths and the return of a fan-favorite character.

In Season 4, slates have seemingly been wiped clean for Kanan, Raq, and the rest of the Thomas family in pursuit of a fresh start. However, in the eye of the storm, one very dangerous obstacle looms large, Unique is alive. Unique (Joey Bada$$) makes a volatile and violent return, as he hunts to upend the lives of the Thomas family.

Amidst the chaos, the Thomas family faces a truth that can no longer be denied: You are who you are. Although you may be capable of change, the fundamentals remain the same, and sooner or later, you will be forced to confront the inescapable reality of your inherent nature. In season four, the difference between life and death may be whether the family chooses to reject or embrace the truth.

  • Raising Kanan Season 4 Gets a Long-Awaited Premiere Date

Nothing is the same in South Jamaica, Queens.

On Friday, Jan. 24, Starz announced that the highly-anticipated fourth season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan will premiere on Friday, March 7, more than a year after season 3’s jaw-dropping conclusion — and fans got their first look at what’s to come in the explosive new installment.

The first-look photos provide a long-awaited look at Unique (Joey Bada$$), who shocked viewers as he miraculously came back to life in the season 3 finale, weeks after his heart-wrenching death at his brother’s hands.

The photos also show a tense-looking Kanan (Mekai Curtis), joined by his mom Raq (Patina Miller), who also left off with a major moment in the season 3 finale as she shot and killed Kanan’s father, Howard (Omar Epps). It was a move with consequences that showrunner Sascha Penn told PEOPLE fans will see “play out” in season 4.

Joey Badass as Unique in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ season 4.

    Cara Howe/Starz

“It’s yet another building block,” Penn said of Howard’s death – right in front of Kanan’s eyes. “The spine of this series, the heart of it, has always been Kanan’s relationship with his mother. It’s always been the defining relationship and everything else has orbited that on some level. I think the important piece of Howard’s death, on some level, is once again, how it impacts the relationship between Raq and Kanan.”

In season 4, Kanan, Raq, Marvin (London Brown) and Lou-Lou (Malcolm Mays) find themselves navigating “the fallout from their life-altering decisions” in the season 3 finale, while they “remain oblivious to Unique’s return and the chilling consequences of his near-death experience,” per the official synopsis.

Raq (Patina Miller) in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ season 4.

    Cara Howe/Starz

While the Thomas family’s “slates have seemingly been wiped clean,” Unique’s “volatile and violent” return will throw everything off balance “as he hunts to upend the lives of the Thomas family.”

Season 4 will see Kanan, Raq and his uncles realize that their choice to “reject or embrace the truth may be the difference between life and death.”

Raq (Patina Miller), Marvin (London Brown) and ‘Lou-Lou’ (Malcolm Mays) in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ season 4.

    Cara Howe/Starz

The threat Unique poses in season 4 is something that Bada$$ previously teased to PEOPLE following the reveal that he’s actually alive.

I think the interesting thing about Unique now is — the Unique that everybody knows is dead. This guy got his head banged and bone fragments left on the weapon of his execution. He’s not the same.”

“So I think what people can expect is a way more hyperactive, irritable, just rageful guy. It’s going to be an interesting spin on who this character [is, because Unique] has been, historically, somebody who’s more calculated and smooth with his delivery and kind of conscious and things like that,” he continued. “But I think this Unique is different. This is Unique like you’ve never seen him before.”

Kanan Stark (Mekai Curtis), ‘Jukebox’ (Hailey Kilgore) and Krystal (Aliyah Turner) in ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ season 4.

    Paul Schiraldi/Starz

Penn also told PEOPLE that a “portion of season 4…explains how Unique survived and helps the audience to understand that journey.”

“Because we felt strongly that we didn’t just want this to be some sort of bulls— Deus Ex Machina type thing where miraculously he survives and we never understand how it happened,” Penn said. “One of the things that is super important to us on this show is, frankly, how much we do respect this audience. I think that they know this show and this world, in some ways, better than any of us do.”

  • After a slow NBA adjustment, 7-footer Kel’el Ware is raising the Heat’s ceiling

Even in a historically poor year for the incoming class, it may be too late for Kel’el Ware to campaign for this season’s NBA Rookie of the Year award. Regardless, Ware is drawing rave reviews from Miami Heat teammates and coaches as he continues adjusting to the pros.

Miami’s had an inconsistent season for myriad (and obvious) reasons. The Jimmy Butler drama, blown leads and untimely losing streaks have been the chief causes for consternation for the Heat. Coach Erik Spoelstra maintains a pulse on what his team needs on a given day, even if it tests the patience of curious fans and observers who want to see Ware get more opportunities to flash his promise, raise Miami’s ceiling and offer glimpses of its future.

On Sunday, previews of that potential became more prominent as Ware logged his most extensive playing time alongside teammate Bam Adebayo, who has mostly held down center minutes for Miami since becoming a full-time starter more than five seasons ago. As the Heat logged a 128-107 home win over Victor Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs, Ware and Adebayo recorded 13 minutes of playing time together after entering the matchup with a two-minute sample size. Altogether, Miami’s budding frontcourt duo is holding opponents to 32 percent shooting when they’re on the court and 57.1 points per 100 possessions to yield a 54.6 net rating.

Yes, that is a 15-minute sample. As their time together grows, there will be some regression to the mean. But it’s quite clear the 7-foot tall Ware, who leads the team in blocks per game despite ranking 10th in total minutes, can raise the Heat’s ceiling after patiently moving toward the rotation.

For most of the season, Adebayo, who has since become a three-time All-Star and two-time Olympic gold medalist, has jokingly suggested Ware should be grateful for any burn he gets on the court as a rookie, seeing as Adebayo barely averaged 20 minutes during his first two NBA seasons. But Adebayo, an annual anchor of a defensive juggernaut, sees the upside of highlighting Ware for a team often short on shot-blocking. After Sunday’s win, he predicted being able to get “a couple of All-Defensive teams out of my young fella.”

    GO DEEPER

Heat Today: Despite up-and-down road trip, Tyler Herro remains confident in Heat’s youthful core

“He’s 7-1. You can’t teach height,” Adebayo adeed on Tuesday after shootaround in preparation for the night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. “But also he’s athletic, coordinated, can jump, rebound, block shots. And he has a motor, so, you add all those tools together, you can get a couple DPOYs out of that.”

Since December 29, Ware has contributed minutes impactful enough to stand out for any Heat player, regardless of tenure. His massive wingspan makes it difficult for opponents to comfortably attempt shots near the basket, often forcing unnatural adjustments and contortions to get off a clean attempt. Although Ware and Adebayo have played sparse minutes together, the latter can comfortably be spelled thanks to Ware’s ability to protect the rim.

Last week against the Lakers, Ware almost immediately rejected — practically punched — an Anthony Davis hook shot attempt en route to holding the latter to 1-of-5 shooting for the game. Notice Davis trying to get the shot off as quickly as possible upon receiving the entry pass, but to no avail. Ware finished the matchup with eight points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in fewer than 18 minutes of play.

On Sunday, Ware was seemingly everywhere on defense, whether it was limiting Wembanyama (2-of-10 shooting when guarded by Ware) or forcing other Spurs like Keldon Johnson into an awkward hop stop before sending the shot back.

“I love it. Nah, for real, I do love it,” Tyler Herro said. “It gives small guys like myself protection behind us, definitely on defense and at the rim. It gives a different dynamic offensively too.”

On Sunday, Adebayo credited Spoelstra for trusting his own coaching and development process by committing to what could be a true game-changer for the Heat, both for the rest of this season and the years ahead. Spoelstra has been patient with bringing Ware along, preferring the rookie to make it obvious why he should (or shouldn’t) be on the court.

Ware spent some time with the team’s G League affiliate this season, but he never let his confidence waver, whether due to his own internal belief, Adebayo’s mentorship or Spoelstra’s approach. Earlier this season, Kevin Love expressed enthusiasm about Ware’s potential as a two-way big in an ever-changing NBA, noting the rookie’s willingness to get better, be coached and maintain a patient temperament even when Ware was fresh off his two-game stint with the Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Beyond Ware’s defensive impact, he also shows great promise as a lob option, floor-spacer and passer on offense. He ran some two-man game with Duncan Robinson on Sunday, which was eased by Ware’s viability as a roll threat forcing the Spurs to focus on him as Robinson was freed up for a drive.

Later in the matchup, Ware drew some strong side attention from Wembanyama and his Spurs teammates before dishing an interior dime to Adebayo for a floater near the rim.

“Oh, man, when you have a 7-footer that can do what he do,it makes your life really, really easy.” Jaime Jaquez Jr. said Tuesday. “Being able to knock down shots, stretch the floor while also being a tremendous roll threat (is an asset for a team). Every time he goes down, bigs gotta make the decision to stop the layup or stop the lob, and that’s a very tough decision to make. … We got to know each other during pre-draft a little bit, so I’m really proud of how he’s come along.”

Kel’el Ware, the 7-foot center drafted by the Miami Heat, has had a slow start to his NBA career. However, in recent games, Ware has shown flashes of his potential and is starting to make a significant impact on the Heat’s performance.

Ware, known for his shot-blocking ability and defensive presence, has been gradually improving his offensive game and is becoming a reliable scoring option for the Heat. His size and length have also been a huge asset on the defensive end, as he has been able to alter shots and protect the rim effectively.

With Ware’s continued development and improvement, the Heat’s ceiling is being raised significantly. His presence in the paint has given the team a boost on both ends of the floor, and his potential to become a dominant force in the league is becoming more and more apparent.

As Ware continues to adjust to the NBA game and gain more experience, the Heat’s chances of success this season are only going to increase. Fans and analysts alike are excited to see how Ware’s growth will impact the team and help them reach new heights in the league.

  • Netflix is raising prices after reporting largest-ever subscriber jump

    New York
    CNN
     —

Netflix announced Tuesday it will raise prices on most of its subscription tiers in the US and Canada after the streaming giant reported 19 million new subscribers in the last quarter of 2024.

The jump in subscribers, Netflix’s biggest-ever, puts the streaming giant at 302 million globally, solidifying the company’s hold on the top spot in the industry.

Netflix attributed the service’s success to the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul boxing match in November, which drew 108 million global viewers, making it the most-streamed sporting event ever. The streamer later hosted two Christmas Day NFL games, which averaged 30 million global viewers, making them the most-streamed football games in history.

Subscriptions were also buoyed by the massive success of “Squid Game” season two, which is currently the streamer’s third-most-watched TV season.

The price increases announced Tuesday will see the standard monthly membership without advertisements increase from $15.49 to $17.99, while a standard account with ads will rise one dollar to $7.99. Its highest-priced premium tier, which includes 4K video quality, will increase by $2 to $24.99.

“As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix,” the company said in a letter to investors.

Netflix also reported revenue increased 16%, exceeding $10 billion for the first time in the company’s history, while operating income totaled $2.3 billion, a 52% on-year increase.

The company’s stock surged 13% on the news Tuesday afternoon.

The earnings report marks the final time Netflix will report its paid membership figures on a quarterly basis, though the company has said it will continue to share key membership milestones as they happen.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

Netflix recently announced that it will be increasing its subscription prices after reporting its largest-ever subscriber jump in the first quarter of 2021. The streaming giant added a whopping 15.8 million new subscribers globally, far surpassing expectations.

As a result of this surge in new users, Netflix has decided to raise its prices in certain regions to help fund its ever-growing content library and investment in original programming. While the exact price hikes have not been specified yet, subscribers can expect to see an increase in their monthly subscription fees in the coming months.

Despite the price increase, Netflix remains a top choice for consumers looking for a wide variety of movies, TV shows, and original content. With an ever-expanding library and a commitment to delivering high-quality entertainment, Netflix continues to dominate the streaming market.

So, if you’re a Netflix subscriber, be prepared for a slight increase in your monthly bill. But with the abundance of content and new releases coming your way, it may just be worth the extra cost.

  • ‘Emery is gently raising Aston Villa’s sights in Champions League’

“Protagonist: the main figure, or one of the most prominent figures in a situation,” says the dictionary. It is a word Unai Emery has taken to using a lot.

“We are very motivated playing Champions League,” he said on Monday, after Villa arrived in Monaco. “For me, it’s very special, and I am transmitting it to the players as well, trying to feel it, to play Europe… We want to compete and try to be a protagonist in this competition.”

In his quiet way, Emery is gently raising Aston Villa’s sights in the Champions League, just as he did in the Premier League after taking over in November 2022.

First, he stabilised them, banishing fears of relegation, but then he was among the first to talk up the possibility of a run for Europe. Last season, he was more measured at first, but as the possibility of a top-four finish took form, Emery talked them up without ever suggesting over-confidence.

So it has been with this campaign: first talking of being competitive, then of trying to qualify, and now of finishing in the top section of the grand table.

Generating enough confidence in your players so they believe they can achieve great things, without over-inflating them, is an art.

Ezri Konsa, one of those whose career has pushed forward under Emery, testifies that it works.

“He’s put so much confidence into us. Going into every game we believed we were going to win, no matter who we were up against,” the defender said of their Champions League run so far.

    “So I wouldn’t say it’s a surprise. We’re a good team, and I think we’ve proved it.”

Many Villa fans I have spoken to on this trip seem on one level amazed that the top eight is such a real possibility now, but also feel their team entirely deserves it.

“Maybe 17 is the points we need,” says Emery, and a draw here and a win over Celtic next week would take them to that. But, in his now established way with Villa, Emery challenges his team to aim higher.

“Our opportunity – and our objective – is to try to get 19 points, because with 19 points, for sure we will be there.”

Emery is gently raising Aston Villa’s sights in Champions League

Unai Emery, the master tactician, is slowly but surely raising Aston Villa’s sights in the Champions League this season. The Spanish manager has brought a new level of organization and discipline to the team, instilling a winning mentality that has seen them rise to the top of their group.

With impressive victories over the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Aston Villa is now considered a serious contender in the elite European competition. Emery’s meticulous preparation and attention to detail have been instrumental in their success, as he continues to push the players to reach their full potential.

It’s clear that Emery’s influence is beginning to bear fruit, as Aston Villa’s performances have been nothing short of exceptional. With a talented squad at his disposal, including the likes of Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins, the sky is the limit for this ambitious team.

As they continue their journey in the Champions League, all eyes will be on Aston Villa and their remarkable rise under the guidance of Unai Emery. With each passing game, they are proving that they belong among Europe’s elite, and who knows, they may just go all the way and lift the coveted trophy. Watch out for Aston Villa, they are a force to be reckoned with.
