With the latest update in 2025, Marvel Rivals has introduced a revamped ranking system that aims to provide a more accurate representation of a player’s abilities and achievements.

The ranking system in Marvel Rivals is divided into several tiers, each representing a different level of skill and experience. Players start off in the Bronze tier and can work their way up through Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and finally, the prestigious Master tier. Each tier is further divided into divisions, with players needing to earn a certain number of points to progress to the next division or tier.

To climb the ranks in Marvel Rivals, players must compete in ranked matches against other players and earn points based on their performance. Winning matches and defeating higher-ranked opponents will earn more points, while losing matches or being defeated by lower-ranked opponents will result in a loss of points. The ranking system now takes into account a player’s win-loss ratio, performance in matches, and overall skill level when calculating points. This update aims to provide a more accurate reflection of a player’s abilities and ensure that only the most skilled and dedicated players reach the top ranks.

Overall, the Marvel Rivals competitive ranks in 2025 offer a challenging yet rewarding experience for players looking to test their skills against others and prove themselves as the ultimate Marvel Rivals champion. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the game, the ranking system provides a clear path for players to improve and climb the ranks, ultimately leading to glory and recognition within the Marvel Rivals community.

  • NOAA study ranks groundhogs for weather-predicting accuracy

Jan. 29 (UPI) — The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released a study analyzing the annual prognostications of weather-predicting groundhogs and found the most famous, Punxsutawney Phil, didn’t even crack the top 10.

NOAA released the study ahead of Groundhog Day, which falls on Sunday, to analyze which groundhogs — along with one prairie dog statue and a tortoise — were the most accurate in predicting whether spring would come early or late.

Only groundhogs who have been predicting the weather for at least 20 years were included in the study, and each had to still be active as of Feb. 2, 2024.

The most accurate weather predictor of the bunch was found to be Staten Island Chuck, who accurately predicted the arrival of spring 85% of the time.

The rest of the top five were Georgia’s General Beauregard Lee, at 80%; a Wyoming Prairie Dog statue named Lander Lil, with 75%; a mythical West Virginia groundhog named Concord Charlie, at 65%; and Illinois’ Gertie the Groundhog, with 65 percent.

The most famous weather-predicting groundhog, Pennsylvania’s Punxsutawney Phil, was all the way down at 17th place, having predicted the weather accurately 35% of the time.

“A beloved national celebrity, legend has it that he has been prophesying when spring would arrive from his burrow on Gobbler’s Knob since 1887,” NOAA said. “How has he lived for so long? The answer is simple… the ‘groundhog nog’ fed to him each fall at Punxsutawney’s annual Groundhog Picnic!”

Groundhogs have long been celebrated as the ultimate weather forecasters on Groundhog Day, but just how accurate are they really when it comes to predicting the weather? A recent study by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) sought to answer this age-old question by ranking groundhogs based on their weather-predicting accuracy.

The study, which analyzed weather data from the past 50 years and compared it to the predictions made by various groundhogs on Groundhog Day, found that Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog from Pennsylvania, was the most accurate weather predictor, with an impressive 75% accuracy rate. Other groundhogs, such as Staten Island Chuck and Wiarton Willie, also performed well, with accuracy rates ranging from 60% to 70%.

However, not all groundhogs were as reliable when it came to predicting the weather. Some, like Buckeye Chuck and General Beauregard Lee, had accuracy rates as low as 40%. Overall, the study found that groundhogs are indeed capable of predicting the weather to some extent, but their accuracy can vary depending on the individual groundhog.

So, the next time you’re wondering whether to trust Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction for an early spring, you can rest assured that he’s likely to be more accurate than most other groundhogs out there. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll be able to rely on these furry forecasters as much as we do meteorologists.

  • Trump Administration Moves Swiftly to Shake Up Top Career Justice Dept. Ranks

The frenetic scale and speed of leadership changes that the Trump administration has made at the Justice Department in its first week alone indicate the degree to which it intends to remake not just the political direction of the department, but also the makeup of its senior career ranks.

Senior officials handling national security and public corruption at the department have been transferred to areas far outside their expertise, as have high-ranking employees overseeing environmental, antitrust and criminal cases. Top officials overseeing the immigration court system were outright fired.

Every new administration replaces the political leadership of federal agencies and, over time, changes some of the senior career officials. But what happened in just a matter of days at the department is much different — sloughing off decades of apolitical expertise to new assignments widely seen in the building as punishments likely to result in resignations.

Collectively, the early moves suggest a deep distrust of the career, nonpartisan staff that typically makes recommendations to the political appointees on whether to charge cases, negotiate settlements or close cases without taking action.

President Trump and his backers have long complained about a “deep state” of career government officials who they believe are hostile to Republican political leadership, and in many ways, the moves are a blitz against parts of the department that enforce laws that some conservatives do not like but cannot get Congress to change.

At the Environment and Natural Resources Division, which brings civil and criminal cases to enforce the nation’s environmental protection laws, attorneys have been ordered to freeze all of its efforts, including making no court filings. For the time being, it cannot file new complaints about companies that are breaking environmental laws, lodge or enter consent decrees to wind down such litigation, or move to intervene in other cases.

The order has led to early problems because the division was negotiating settlements to existing lawsuits and, in some instances, was required by court order to issue filings, like procedural updates.

The changes also targeted some of the career officials who carry the most authority and institutional experience. At least four of the environment division’s section chiefs — nearly half its total — were reassigned last week to a newly created task force focused on going after so-called sanctuary cities that do not cooperate with immigration enforcement as much as the new administration would like.

At least two senior leaders from the department’s civil rights division and at least two from its national security division have also been transferred to the sanctuary cities task force so far, as has the former leader of the criminal division’s section that prosecutes public corruption, according to people familiar with the matter.

Many of the senior officials who have been reassigned to immigration issues have little to no legal expertise in the field, having dedicated their legal careers to other issues, such as environmental law. They were told that their pay would remain unchanged and that they had up to 15 days to either accept the transfer or face the possibility of being fired.

Some of the measures underway at the department — like the reassignment of the head of the public integrity section, or a senior official handling national security investigations — are not entirely surprising. Mr. Trump has made plain his distaste for the Justice Department and the F.B.I. over criminal investigations of him and his allies, referring to them over the years as “scum.”

But in the case of some of the reassignments, career officials in the Justice Department find it hard to discern a reason, other than removing people whose legal views carry great weight in the building.

Some Justice Department staff members question whether the decisions violate civil service employment rules, particularly in the case of four senior officials in the office that handles immigration cases. Those people were fired outright, according to multiple people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to publicly discuss personnel matters.

Current and former Justice Department officials described the rapid-fire changes as harrowing for those affected. Multiple people last week described tearful discussions with colleagues who were suddenly forced to consider whether to quit, sue or silently accept their new posting.

The reassignment of the senior environmental lawyers is viewed by some in the division as effectively decapitating their leadership structure and demoralizing the officials who remain, according to people familiar with the changes who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.

Andrew Mergen, who retired in 2023 after more than three decades at the division, said that while senior officials were sometimes reshuffled under previous administrations, it was “more as a prerogative of management than sort of as this big political move. So nothing like this has ever happened.”

He said he worried that the moves might drive away the department’s institutional expertise.

“Everybody who was there the day that Trump walked in had made the choice to work in the Trump administration, and to do their very best,” Mr. Mergen said, warning of the consequences if there were an exodus of career officials. “It will be a loss to the country if these people leave, and if other attorneys in the Justice Department leave.”

A spokesman for the environment division declined to comment.

The reassignments at the Justice Department have targeted members of the Senior Executive Service — the upper echelon of career employees, who serve directly for the political appointees at agencies. According to the Office of Management and Budget, such employees “are the major link between these appointees and the rest of the federal work force,” because they “operate and oversee nearly every government activity in approximately 75 federal agencies.”

David M. Uhlmann, who was the head of environmental enforcement at the Environmental Protection Agency during the Biden administration, said that simply removing those chiefs “is not going to bring the work of government to a screeching halt,” because their deputies can assume their responsibilities.

But it did underline the Trump administration’s approach to environmental regulation, he said. “The message it sends is that the Trump administration does not intend to hold polluters accountable and is not concerned about protecting communities from harmful pollution,” Mr. Uhlmann said.

The division was also affected by Mr. Trump’s executive order banning diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. While it has none, the work of a small Office of Environmental Justice, which officially opened in the Biden administration, dates back to an executive order issued under the Clinton administration that aims to address pollution and health risks that low-income and minority communities disproportionately experienced.

After Mr. Trump revoked that executive order in recent days, the division was told it could not take any steps that would have advanced its goals. And, like others involved with initiatives that promote diversity across the government, career employees of the division who worked for the environmental justice office have been placed on administrative leave, according to people familiar with the moves, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.

As part of the administration’s push to freeze hiring across all agencies, the Justice Department has also rescinded job offers to its honors program. And like other agencies, the department has been told to submit a list of all probationary employees to the White House, meaning those who have not yet served long enough in their roles and so are not yet entitled to full protection by civil service laws.

It is unclear what officials plan to do with the list, but the request has elicited concern that it would lead to the mass dismissal of relatively new hires.

    Lisa Friedman contributed reporting.

In a recent development, the Trump administration has made swift moves to shake up the top career ranks at the Justice Department. This major overhaul comes as part of President Trump’s efforts to put his own stamp on the department and ensure that his policies are being implemented effectively.

Several high-ranking officials have been reassigned or replaced in recent weeks, including the acting head of the Civil Rights Division, the acting head of the Civil Division, and the acting head of the National Security Division. These changes have raised concerns among some career officials who fear that the administration is attempting to politicize the department and undermine its independence.

The Justice Department plays a crucial role in upholding the rule of law and ensuring that justice is served fairly and impartially. It is essential that the department remains free from political interference and that its career officials are able to carry out their duties without fear of reprisal.

The Trump administration’s moves to shake up the top career ranks at the Justice Department have sparked controversy and raised questions about the future of the department under this administration. It remains to be seen how these changes will impact the department’s ability to fulfill its mission and uphold the principles of justice and fairness.

  • Marvel Rivals Fans Are Getting Stuck In Bronze & Silver Ranks, But Some Think It Might Be “Your Fault”

Some Marvel Rivals fans think that being stuck within the ranks is the player’s fault, but others think it really comes down to the luck of the draw. Competitive play in Rivals is difficult, as climbing the ranks while solo queuing is tedious, slow-going, and sometimes blood-boiling. Fans are torn between it being a numbers game and the fault of the player playing the matches.

A recent Reddit post from AKM1711 sparked a massive conversation about whose fault it truly is for being stuck within the Bronze and Silver ranks in Rivals. Fans seem to be under the impression that there really is no way to tell how a match will go, regardless of how well they play, as players are at the mercy of their teammates.

Some Think It’s “Your Fault” For Being Stuck In A Rank In Marvel Rivals

But Fans Think If The Others Aren’t Playing Their Best, You’re Out Of Luck

The Reddit thread has gotten a lot of attention, as ranked matches are tedious and some do not believe it is solely their fault for being stuck within a specific rank. ExtremelyDecentWill comments, “I’ve got 8 hours in the season and I just hit Gold, and for me it seems like every match is either Stomp or be Stomped.” Several other users chimed in and agreed with this comment, as commenter lucavigno says, “Yeah same, sometime my team get absolutely dogged other time we destroy the enemy team, rarely there’s a match that is a good match.”

“Nobody Wants To Tank”: Marvel Rivals Fans Claim Vanguard Mains Are Few & Far Between, Asking NetEase To Prioritize Tanks

Fans of Marvel Rivals are noticing a trend when it comes to matches, as players seem to want to DPS or Heal rather than tank, causing a bit of chaos.

The vast majority of comments disagree with the original post that claims it is their fault for being stuck, as some believe that each match has players who just don’t give it their best shot or are not as good as the other teammates. Others say it isn’t about being “stuck” per se, but it is a slow and extremely monotonous climb to the higher ranks.

Our Take: It’s A Numbers Game In Marvel Rivals Ranked Play

Well, You Can’t Expect To Win Them All

Split Image Invisible Woman and Reed Richards in front of Marvel Rivals and Comic Characters
    Custom Image by Logan Silva

As someone who only plays ranked in Marvel Rivals with more hours in the game than I wish to admit, it truly does feel like a numbers game. There are games where you will do everything you can, play aggressively even as a support, and still end up with a loss. If you play tank, you are at the mercy of your healers to hold the line and create space. Without good heals to avoid death, you will not last long in a fight. This doesn’t mean only depending on healers either, as players should play defensively and carefully regardless of healers and DPS.

It is a slow climb to the top, and being stuck in a rank does not mean it is entirely your fault. There are cases, though, where if you choose to only play one character and not flex to help the team, you will be to blame for the losses. Realistically, a role-queue could stop a few of these issues, but NetEase is not budging on that decision at the time of writing. All in all, Marvel Rivals is a tough game sometimes, and being “stuck” in a rank is just part of it.

Marvel Rivals, the popular mobile game that pits players against each other in intense battles, has been seeing an increase in players getting stuck in the lower ranks of Bronze and Silver. While some are blaming the game’s matchmaking system or the skills of their opponents, others believe that the fault lies with the players themselves.

Many players have taken to online forums and social media to express their frustration at being unable to climb out of the lower ranks, despite putting in hours of gameplay. Some have pointed to the randomness of the matchmaking system, which can sometimes pair them up against much higher-ranked players, making it difficult to progress.

However, others argue that the problem lies with the players themselves, citing a lack of strategy, poor deck-building skills, or simply not putting in enough effort to improve. They believe that with dedication and practice, anyone can climb the ranks and reach higher levels of gameplay.

Regardless of where the fault lies, it’s clear that Marvel Rivals fans are passionate about the game and eager to improve. Whether it’s through adjusting their strategies, seeking advice from more experienced players, or simply putting in more time and effort, there are plenty of ways for players to break out of the Bronze and Silver ranks and reach new heights in the game.

  • Jalen Milroe declares for 2025 NFL Draft: Crimson Tide star ranks among QBs in class as possible first-rounder

Jalen Milroe declares for 2025 NFL Draft: Crimson Tide star ranks among QBs in class as possible first-rounder

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is entering the 2025 NFL Draft, he announced via social media Thursday. Milroe, who spent two years as Alabama’s starting quarterback, brings plenty of intrigue and upside to a relatively thin crop of high-tier quarterback prospects.

“To my teammates, my brothers, thank you for the blood, sweat, and tears we’ve shared,” Milroe wrote in his announcement. “The bonds we’ve built will last a lifetime. To Coach (Nick) Saban, thank you for believeing in me and instilling the standard of excellence in me. To Coach (Kalen) DeBoer, thank you for challenging me and helping me grow into the player and leader I am today.

“To the entire Alabama family, thank you for embracing a kid from Texas and allowing me the honor of wearing the script ‘A’. Representing this university has been one of the greatest honors of my life.”

Milroe’s decision comes just a couple of days after Alabama’s 19-13 loss to Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl. Still mulling his future, Milroe elected to play in the bowl game and made the start for the Crimson Tide. He completed just 16 of his 32 pass attempts for 192 yards and one touchdown with one interception.

That one interception was one of three turnovers that he was responsible for in the first quarter alone. Milroe was cleaner with the ball down the stretch, and he did have an impressive 40-yard rush to set up an Alabama field goal near the end of the first half. But that was the fourth time in Alabama’s last five games that Milroe failed to reach 200 yards passing.

    Milroe’s Alabama career

Milroe signed with Alabama in 2021 as a four-star prospect out of Katy, Texas’ Tompkins High School. He spent his freshman season as a backup to Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young and returned in 2022, earning his first career start against Texas A&M in place of an injured Young.

Young declared for the NFL Draft following his junior season, which allowed Milroe to battle Notre Dame transfer Tyler Buchner and redshirt freshman Ty Simpson for the vacant starting job entering the 2023 campaign. Milroe eventually won out and, despite his benching following a loss to Texas in Week 2, returned to lead the offense when SEC play began. He was named a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and finished his first year as a starter with 2,834 yards and 23 touchdowns passing and 531 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground.

Given his versatility, Milroe came into the 2024 season as a Heisman Trophy candidate. Though that didn’t quite come to fruition, he still tallied 3,570 total yards of offense and a whopping 20 touchdowns rushing. Milroe did throw a career-high 11 interceptions, which is more than he had from 2022-23 combined. Milroe’s 20 rushing touchdowns were the most by an Alabama QB in a single season.

    Milroe’s draft stock

Milroe seems like an ideal fit for the modern NFL game with his athleticism and big arm. He’s comfortable making plays outside of the structure and, given his 33 touchdowns rushing in four seasons with the Crimson Tide, can really hurt a defense with his legs.

Milroe does still have strides to take as a passer if he wants to be a full-time professional starter. While he has the arm talent to make throws all over the field, both his accuracy and his decision-making need more fine tuning.

Though none of CBS Sports’ draft experts projected Milroe as a first-round pick in their most recent mock drafts, Milroe currently sits at No. 32 in CBS Sports’ prospect rankings, which puts him in the conversation as a Day 1 prospect. He’s also the No. 3 quarterback directly behind Miami’s Cam Ward and Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, so it’s not out of the question that a QB-hungry team could take a shot at him early.

What it would mean for Alabama

Obviously, Milroe’s departure creates a vacancy at the most important position on the field. The Crimson Tide do have plenty of options to replace him.

Simpson, who signed with the Crimson Tide in 2022, served as Milroe’s backup in 2024 and will have every chance to win the job. He will have to fend off former Washington transfer Austin Mack to do so. Mack actually enrolled at Washington in 2023 and followed coach Kalen DeBoer to Tuscaloosa when DeBoer was hired as Nick Saban’s successor, so there is plenty of familiarity between the two.

Alabama also had five-star Keelon Russell, the No. 2 prospect nationally, in 2025. He will get the opportunity to compete, though it my be difficult to unseat some of the more veteran options in front of him. The transfer portal is also an option if a clear starter does not emerge through spring practice.

Breaking news out of Tuscaloosa, as Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Jalen Milroe has officially declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. The talented signal-caller has been a standout for the Tide and is now looking to take his game to the next level.

Milroe, a dual-threat quarterback, has impressed scouts and analysts with his combination of arm talent, mobility, and football IQ. In his time at Alabama, he has shown the ability to make all the throws, extend plays with his legs, and lead his team to victory in big moments.

As the draft approaches, Milroe is already being touted as one of the top quarterbacks in his class. With his skill set and potential, many believe he has the tools to be a first-round pick and a franchise quarterback at the next level.

With his decision to enter the draft, Milroe is set to embark on the next chapter of his football journey. Alabama fans will surely miss his presence on the field, but they can take pride in knowing that they were able to witness a special talent during his time in Tuscaloosa.

Chappell Roan Ranks Her Most ‘Iconique’ Looks from 2024

Chappell Roan had a banner year in 2024, with so many unique looks on the red carpet and stage that the singer decided to rank her own styles to say goodbye to her epic year.

On Monday, Dec. 30, Roan, 26, shared an Instagram gallery post with 10 of her favorite looks from the past 12 months. “It’s my OPINION,” she captioned the post, adding, “Why yes, I do consider myself to be iconique.”

Roan’s fourth favorite look was one look that left her “triggered,” she wrote over the photo — but likely not because of what she was wearing.

During the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, Roan wore a medieval-inspired sheer flowing Y/Project gown, complete with a mint-green cape and thigh-high boots. She even carried a sword and had a carpet laid over the VMAs carpet, to appear as if she just stepped out of a medieval painting.

Roan’s VMAs experience wasn’t drama-free. Video captured someone saying, “Shut the f— up” in her direction. “You shut the f— up!” the “Casual” singer replied, pointing in the heckler’s direction.

After she backed away to have her outfit adjusted, Roan added, “Don’t. Not me, bitch!

During her VMAs performance, Roan kept the medieval theme going, wearing a suit of armor as she performed “Good Luck, Babe!” Roan picked the armor as her sixth favorite look of 2024.

Roan’s favorite look of 2024 was the Statue of Liberty-inspired outfit she wore to the 2024 Governors Ball. The singer wore green body paint, a crown headpiece, a tube top and a skirt for her set, which started with “Femininomenon.”

During the show, Roan told her fans she was in “drag” because Lady Liberty is the “biggest queen of them all.” She then quoted part of the poem etched on the Statue of Liberty, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to breathe free.”

To her, “That means freedom in trans rights, that means freedom in women’s rights…and it especially means freedom for all oppressed people in occupied territories,” Roan said.

Roan’s looks are heavily inspired by drag culture. During a stop on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in June, Roan said horror movies, burlesque and theater also inspire her and her stylist Genesis Webb. (Roan ranked her look from the show as her eighth favorite of the year.)

I love looking pretty and scary,” Roan told Fallon. “Or, like, pretty and tacky. Or just not pretty. I love that too.”

She also said that some of her looks don’t have the deeper meanings some fans search for.

“I just think it’s just not serious,” she said in June. “I love that fans find such deep meanings to things and I’m just like, ‘I don’t know, I thought I looked hot.’ Like, I don’t know if it’s anything more than that.”

Roan’s next big moment will come on Feb. 2 at the 67th annual Grammy Awards. She was nominated for six awards, including best new artist, album of the year for The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and song of the year for “Good Luck, Babe!”

Chappell Roan, the rising star in the music industry, has been making waves not only with her soulful voice but also with her impeccable sense of style. From red carpet events to music videos, Chappell Roan has been serving looks that are nothing short of ‘iconique’.
