Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic ejected after explosive exchange with ref

Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic was not feeling in the holiday spirit on Thursday night. And that’s putting it nicely. He went absolutely ballistic on an official in the Raptors-Grizzlies game. He was apparently furious about a foul not being called, and he walked out onto the floor to the let the officials know about it. Rajakovich had to be held back by his own players, and he was visibly heated during the confrontation.

In a shocking turn of events, Raptors head coach Darko Rajakovic was ejected from last night’s game after an explosive exchange with a referee. The incident occurred in the second quarter when Rajakovic vehemently argued a call, leading to a heated confrontation with the official.

The confrontation quickly escalated as Rajakovic continued to berate the referee, resulting in his ejection from the game. The fiery exchange left fans and players stunned, as Rajakovic is known for his calm and composed demeanor on the sidelines.

Despite the ejection, the Raptors were able to rally and secure a victory, but the incident has left many questioning Rajakovic’s behavior. The team has yet to comment on the incident, but it is clear that tensions were running high on the court last night.

It remains to be seen what repercussions Rajakovic will face for his outburst, but one thing is for certain – emotions were running high in Toronto last night. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

What Happened Between Darko Rajakovic and J.T. Orr? Scottie Barnes Rushed to Save NBA Ref from Raptors Coach’s Warth

Chaos in Memphis! Well, the Raptors headed into tonight’s Grizzlies clash hoping to snap their eight-game losing streak. But they got dominated from the get go and were finding it hard to make a comeback. Sure enough, it led to frustrations in the Raptors’ camp and things escalated when head coach Darko Rajakovic got tossed from the game for going off at official J.T. Orr.

The incident occurred early in the fourth quarter. As Scottie Barnes drove to the basket for a layup, his shot was contested by Jaren Jackson Jr. That led to him missing the shot and a transition basket for the Grizzlies at the other end. As it turns out, Rajakovic believed that Barnes was fouled on the play and he expressed his displeasure about the no-call by stepping on the court and charging at the official. He began yelling and seemingly cursing out Orr, which led to him getting ejected from the game. Meanwhile, Barnes held his head coach back, trying to stop the issue from escalating.

    (Developing Story)

In a recent game between the Toronto Raptors and the opposing team, tensions rose between Raptors assistant coach Darko Rajakovic and NBA referee J.T. Orr. The two were involved in a heated exchange that quickly escalated, leading to a physical altercation.

Witnesses reported that Rajakovic was visibly upset with a call made by Orr and began to argue with the referee on the sidelines. The situation quickly spiraled out of control as Rajakovic shoved Orr, prompting a swift response from Raptors player Scottie Barnes.

Barnes rushed to intervene and separate the coach and the referee, preventing the situation from escalating further. The incident was quickly diffused, but it left many spectators shocked and concerned about the behavior displayed by Rajakovic.

The NBA has yet to release an official statement regarding the altercation, but it is likely that both Rajakovic and Orr will face disciplinary action for their roles in the incident. In the meantime, the Raptors organization has issued a statement condemning the behavior and expressing their commitment to upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship and professionalism.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.

Grizzlies vs Raptors live score updates, highlights: Ja Morant, Memphis back home

The Memphis Grizzlies got an extra day to flush a tough 114-110 loss on Monday night against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Grizzlies (20-10) are back in action against the Toronto Raptors on Thursday night.

This is a game the Grizzlies should be expected to win. Toronto (7-23) has the third-worst record in the NBA and has been hit hard by injuries.

Memphis isn’t fully healthy, but several impact players like Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane are available. The Grizzlies will be without Marcus Smart (right index finger), Jay Huff (ankle), Vince Williams Jr. (ankle) and GG Jackson.

Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic is the former lead assistant under Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins. Rajakovic was notably instrumental in the development and success of Desmond Bane. He left the Grizzlies for the Raptors job after the 2023 season.

The Grizzlies are on the first leg of a back to back before traveling to New Orleans for a game on Friday night.

The Toronto Raptors head to Memphis looking to snap an eight-game losing streak. Rohit Ponnaiya believes whether the losing streak ends or not, RJ Barrett and his scoring will be front and center in a high-scoring contest.

The Toronto Raptors head to FedEx Forum to face the Memphis Grizzlies on Boxing Day. Toronto is on an eight-game losing streak but RJ Barrett continues to fill up the hoop and my Raptors vs. Grizzlies predictions expect that to continue.

Here are my best free NBA picks for this Boxing Day clash on December 26.

    Raptors vs Grizzlies prediction

    My Raptors pick
RJ Barrett Over 22.5 points (-125 at PointsBet Canada)

    My analysis

RJ Barrett leads the Toronto Raptors with 23.5 points per game on 45.7% shooting from the field. Even with Scottie Barnes returning to the lineup in late November, Barrett has remained the No. 1 scoring option.

Over the last month, Barret has scored 23+ points in six of nine games and is averaging 24.9 ppg over that span. While the Memphis Grizzlies are one of the better defensive teams in the NBA, there are a few reasons to expect Barrett to put up points tonight.

The Grizz play at the fastest pace in the league which has led to them ranking 15th in the league in points per game allowed (113.0). Memphis is also just 20th in the league in fastbreak points per game allowed (15.8 ppg) while ranking 18th at defending the rim per ShotQualityBets.

Barrett is third in the league in transition ppg (6.7) and is in the top 20th percentile at attacking the rim frequency.

    Raptors vs Grizzlies same-game parlay

    RJ Barrett Over 22.5 points

    Zach Edey Under 10.5 points

    Over 239.5

With center Jakob Poeltl sidelined by a groin injury, Toronto has been playing a smaller lineup. The Raps have been starting the 6-foot-6 Jonathan Mogbo at center with Kelly Olynyk and Chris Boucher coming off the bench. With that mobility, Memphis will likely have to limit the playing time for rookie big man Zach Edey.

The 7-foot-4, 305-pound Edey has seen his lack of footspeed exposed by opposing bigs that can get up and down the court, or pull him out to the perimeter. The Toronto local was held to just three points in his last contest and he won’t be on the floor enough to go Over 10.5 points tonight.

The Raptors are sixth in the league in pace over the last month and their ability to score in transition should help them put up points against the up-tempo Grizzlies. That said, the Raps are also 23rd in the league in defensive rating and will have a tough time slowing down a Memphis squad that leads the NBA with 122.7 ppg.
