Rare Pontiac GTO Takes Jay Leno Back In Time
The
Pontiac GTO
is often regarded as the car that sparked theAmerican muscle car
revolution. However, because of its powerful V8 engine and aggressive styling, some have even refered to the GTO as the world’s first Supercars
. Though that may be a little doubtful, the GTO is still considered to be “The Goat” of Muscle Cars
, and it became an icon during the golden age of muscle cars. Jay Leno is a big fan of all historic cars, and in his recent video, he took a very rare Pontiac GTO for a spin, and went back in time to an era of forgotten legends.

1965 Pontiac GTO Royal Bobcat Took Performance To A New Level
Jay Leno’s
latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage puts the spotlight on the 1965 Pontiac GTO Royal Bobcat. The car, owned by Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Jordan “Joker” Smith, features a rare Royal Bobcat package developed by Royal Pontiac in Royal Oak, Michigan. Known for turning factory GTOs into street-racing legends, the Royal Bobcat upgrades added horsepower and performance through a range of tweaks, including Tri-Power carburation, enhanced ignition systems, and advanced tuning techniques. While the GTO was already a pretty amazing car with its 389 V8 pumping out around 360 hp, this tweaked-up version could churn out around 400 hp, putting it in supercar territory for that era. This is also one of the reasons why Jay Leno says that this car is often hailed as one of the world’s first supercars.1965 Pontiac GTO Royal Bobcat Specifications

Jim is often considered to be considered the ‘Godfather’ of the GTO, as he helped to market the vehicle. The original price of this GTO in 1965 was around $3,500, but because of its legacy and significance, as of January 2025, a well-preserved or meticulously restored example can command significant prices at auction. Right now, a 1965 Pontiac GTO Royal Bobcat is listed for auction at Mecum’s Kissimmee 2025 event, with an estimated value between $100,000 and $125,000.

Thousands await stinky plant’s rare bloom
Getty Images
Putricia has been placed behind a velvet rope in Sydney’s botanic gardens An endangered plant known as the “corpse flower” for its putrid stink is about to bloom in Australia – and captivated the internet in the process, with thousands already tuned in to a livestream ahead of its grand debut.
The titan arum plant, housed in the Royal Botanic Gardens of Sydney, blooms only once every few years for just 24 hours.
Affectionately dubbed Putricia, it will release a smell described as “wet socks, hot cat food, or rotting possum flesh”.
The long wait and uncertainty as to when Putricia will bloom – has spawned jokes and even a unique lingo in the livestream’s chat, with thousands commenting “WWTF”, or “We Watch the Flower”.
The current view is not much: Putricia stands silent and tall in front of a brown curtain, comfortably ensconced behind a red velvet rope. Occasionally, a visitor pops into the frame as they snap a selfie with the plant.
But once she blooms, viewers can expect to see Putricia unfold a vibrant maroon or crimson skirt, known as a spathe, around her spadix which is the large spike in the middle of the plant.
The Gardens have said it is “hard to predict exactly when” Putricia will bloom, but that has not stopped the thousands gathered online.
“I’m back again to see how Putricia is going and I can see she’s still taking her time like the queen she is, fair play,” wrote one commenter. “This is the slowest burlesque ever,” said another.
Yet another person wrote: “Overnight I watched, fell asleep, awoke, watched, fell asleep. I am weak, but Putricia is strong. WWTF.”
Other popular acronyms among viewers are WDNRP (We Do Not Rush Putricia) and BBTB (Blessed Be The Bloom).

The titan arum, seen here in the wild in Indonesia, can grow up to 3m tall The plant can only be found in the rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia, where it is known as bunga bangkai – or “corpse flower” in Indonesian. Its scientific name is Amorphophallus titanum, which is derived from Ancient Greek and means “giant misshapen penis”,
It has the world’s largest flowering structure, as it can grow up to 3m (10 feet) tall and weigh up to 150kg. The plant contains several hundred flowers in the base of its spadix.
It is endangered in the wild due to deforestation and land degradation.
Putricia is one of several titan arums in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, which last saw one bloom 15 years ago.
But there have been other corpse flower blooms across Australia in recent years, including Melbourne and Adelaide’s botanic gardens, each time attracting thousands of curious visitors keen on having a whiff.
There are also a few housed in Kew Gardens in London, where one bloomed in June last year. The titan arum first flowered outside of Sumatra in 1889 in Kew.
Thousands of eager plant enthusiasts are on the edge of their seats as they await the rare bloom of the stinky plant known as the corpse flower. This unique plant, scientifically named Amorphophallus titanum, is famous for its foul odor that resembles that of rotting flesh. The corpse flower is native to the rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia, and is known for its impressive size and infrequent blooming. When it does bloom, the flower releases a strong odor that attracts pollinators such as flies and beetles.
The anticipation surrounding the blooming of the corpse flower has drawn large crowds to botanical gardens and conservatories around the world. Many people are eager to catch a glimpse – and a whiff – of this rare and fascinating plant in action.
As the countdown to the corpse flower’s bloom continues, plant enthusiasts everywhere are keeping a close eye on the progress of this unique and captivating plant. Stay tuned for updates on when and where you can witness this rare event for yourself!

The price action of the popular cryptocurrency XRP against its leading opponent in the crypto market rankings, Bitcoin (BTC), has been a point of attraction for weeks, if not months. Since the beginning of November, XRP has gained nearly 270% against BTC, and according to technical analysis patterns, this may not be the end of the rally.
Digging into the details, it becomes clear that on the weekly price chart of XRP against Bitcoin, there is nothing less than a golden cross, with a 23-day moving average approaching a crossover with a 200-day moving average from below. This means that the medium-term price action of XRP is on the rise compared to the long term, and when these two curves cross, a golden cross will be formed.
The pattern is considered bullish and often precedes a bullish rally, although short-term deviations from this path are not excluded.
Source: TradingView Currently, XRP is trading at 0.00003 BTC, which is the highest since the spring of 2021. However, the all-time high for this pair is still 720% above the current level. It was set in May 2017, when one XRP was equal to 0.00024 BTC. Right now, such a valuation would mean more than $25 for the popular alternative cryptocurrency.
Is $25 XRP a possibility?
Whether this is possible in the current market reality remains an open question. In the last two months, XRP has skyrocketed from $0.50 to a new all-time high of $3.40, a 700% move, and gained a massive $180 billion market cap.
If the token does indeed reach $25, its market cap will exceed $1 trillion. Of course, these valuations depend heavily on the monetary situation in the world, but at the moment such an outcome seems impossible. However, we are talking about the cryptocurrency market — where nothing is impossible.
XRP, the cryptocurrency created by Ripple, is currently on the verge of achieving an ultra rare golden cross versus Bitcoin. This significant technical indicator occurs when the short-term moving average of a cryptocurrency crosses above its long-term moving average, signaling a potential bullish trend. With XRP’s price steadily climbing against Bitcoin in recent weeks, investors are eagerly watching for this golden cross to confirm a potential trend reversal. If the cross does occur, it could indicate a shift in momentum for XRP and potentially lead to further price appreciation.
As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, XRP’s performance against Bitcoin is closely monitored by traders and analysts alike. Keep an eye on XRP in the coming days as it approaches this critical milestone.

Sign up for the Morning Brief email newsletter to get weekday updates from The Weather Channel and our meteorologists.
Winter Storm Enzo has brought rare, record-breaking snow to parts of the Gulf Coast, snarling travel and resulting in historic snowfall totals from New Orleans to Florida.
(MORE: Why We Name Winter Storms And The 2024-25 List)
New Orleans picked up 8 inches, making it the heaviest snowfall there in modern day records (since 1948) and the city’s biggest total in over 100 years.
By nightfall, skiers were skiing and snowfall fights had been had on Bourbon Street and ice hockey had been played on Canal Street. It wasn’t just partygoers wearing green, purple and gold weeks ahead of Mardi Gras, but also snowmen. Cafe Du Monde served up plentiful snowflakes with its beignets. Streetcar tracks and palm trees in the city were covered in snow.
Florida has likely broken its state snowfall record. Milton, Florida, the state’s previous record holder, picked up 8.8 inches of snow. This is much higher than the 4-inch record set on March 6, 1954, near Milton. Snowplows were out Tuesday night clearing parts of Interstate 10.
Estimated Snowfall So Far
Reported snowfall totals by state so far, through 11:30 p.m. EST:
- Alabama: 11 inches in Babbie (southeast Alabama)
- Florida: 8.8 inches in Milton (north of Pensacola)*
- Georgia: 7 inches in Blakely and Leesburg (southwest Georgia)
- Louisiana: 11.5 inches in Chalmette (near New Orleans)
- Mississippi: 9 inches in Ocean Springs
- North Carolina: 2 inches in Hampstead
- South Carolina: 3 inches near Conway
- Texas: 6 inches near Pine Island (near Beaumont)
* a potential state record
Here’s a state-by-state recap:
Texas
Up to 4.2 inches of snow had fallen in the Houston metro area while flurries fell in Galveston. Snow even fell as far south as Brownsville, Texas, early Tuesday. Gusts to 44 mph were also recorded there.
Up to a quarter inch of ice accreted earlier Tuesday in south Texas, where some power outages are being reported.
Louisiana
Southern Louisiana picked up some 8-10 inches of snow in a once-in-a-generation event.
An unprecedented blizzard warning was issued for southwest Louisiana and extreme southeast Texas during the morning hours. It was the first in Louisiana’s history.
Bouts of moderate to heavy snow fell and accumulated in New Orleans, where wind gusts occasionally topped 35 mph. Near-blizzard conditions were recorded at the city’s Lakefront Airport.
Thundersnow was reported near Lafayette. Airboats commonly used for traversing the bayous that Louisiana is known for were instead used for doing donuts in the snow.
Down on the coast, snow piled up right up to the water in the Gulf.
Alabama
Mobile saw 7.5 inches in the storm, which is the most the Gulf Coast city has seen for any snow event on record dating to the late 1800s.
Mississippi
Biloxi, home of the Hurricane Hunters, saw heavy snow Tuesday afternoon. The city picked up at least 5 inches of new snow, but other parts of southern Mississippi picked up as much as 9 inches. The snow coated streets, signs and even the beach. Visibility dropped at times as low as one-quarter mile.
Before the storm hit, the Hurricane Hunters took flight into Winter Storm Enzo to investigate the storm as it neared the Gulf.
Florida
In addition to the Milton preliminary state record mentioned earlier, Pensacola also saw record-breaking snowfall.
The storm total of 7.6 inches is the heaviest this city has seen since the late-1800s. The previous record was a 3-inch snowstorm in February 1895

Winter Storm Enzo is set to bring rare snow and ice to the Southeast Coast this weekend. With temperatures dropping and precipitation on the rise, residents are being urged to take precautions and prepare for potentially hazardous conditions. From North Carolina to Florida, areas that don’t typically see much snowfall are bracing for a winter wonderland. The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and advisories for several states along the coast, warning of icy roads and slippery conditions.
Meteorologists are predicting significant snowfall accumulations in some areas, along with the potential for freezing rain and sleet. This could lead to power outages, travel disruptions, and dangerous road conditions.
Residents are advised to stay indoors if possible, stock up on supplies, and avoid unnecessary travel. It’s important to stay informed and follow any updates from local authorities and emergency services.
Winter Storm Enzo is a reminder that winter weather can be unpredictable, so it’s best to be prepared and stay safe during these challenging conditions. Let’s all stay warm and stay safe as we weather the storm together.
