Hatchet buried.
Considering all the trash Jamahal Hill talked over the last several months, it would be understandable if reigning light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, took delight in Hill’s knockout loss to Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 last weekend in Los Angeles.
“Poatan” seems more interested in moving on, now that Hill is out of the title picture.
“I have absolutely no problem with him,” Pereira (12-2) told MMA Junkie. “We’re both the same. Sometimes I’ll go and make some fun before the fight. Or he will (say something about me). But tomorrow we’re going to hold hands and respect each other. I think all the turmoil that was created is part of the sport.”
Somehow I get the impression this light heavyweight contender is taking it seriously.
The loss to Prochazka marked the second straight for Hill (12-3, 1 NC), who was stopped by Pereira at UFC 300 in April 2024. As for “Poatan,” he moves on to defend his 205-pound strap against No. 1-ranked Magomed Ankalaev atop the UFC 313 fight card in March.

Few aspects of a Saturday Night Live season are more entertaining than Colin Jost and Michael Che’s annual joke swaps. Every year, specifically around the holidays, the two write quips for the other to read on air, with the twist being that neither sees them beforehand. This year’s swap was particularly brutal, as Jost was forced to make some wild remarks about his wife, Scarlett Johansson, who was backstage at the time. Now, on the heels of SNL’s return amid the 2025 TV schedule, Jost is discussing Johansson’s honest reaction.
During that episode, Colin Jost was made to say his jokes in “Black voice” and eventually remarking on how “Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday, which means, I’m about to get up out of there.” He also joked about their son, Cosmo, saying that the public had yet to see a photo of him because he’s “Black as hell.” And, on top of all that, while commenting on Costco apparently removing a roast beef sandwich from its menu, Jost was forced to say “I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”
Scarlett Johansson herself even seemed humorously taken aback by those last comments. Just this week, her hubby appeared as a guest on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, during which he was asked about the jokes. Fallon specifically asked the Coming 2 America alum if he was in trouble with his wife due to the comments. In the YouTube video, the Weekend Update co-host shared humorously honest thoughts:
I’m in trouble, I think, with a lot of people. Scarlett was genuinely so shocked. … Because I was obviously surprised by everything, but they gave her a heads up. They were like, ‘Hey, would you be OK if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ She was like, ‘Sure, whatever, I’m open to it.’ Then it was like the opposite – I didn’t know where it was going. Then the graphic came up for [Costco]. So Scarlett was backstage like, ‘Oh my god, that’s what it is!’
Colin Jost went on to say that he wasn’t faking his reaction of surprise at all, as he mentioned that he “can’t act that well.” At this point, one would think that Jost may be somewhat used to having to make jokes at his wife’s expense at one time or another. In May 2024, he was tricked into taking a shot at Scarlett Johansson involving a voice assistant inspired by the actress’ own vocals. Joke swaps aside, Weekend Update guests also manage to slide Johansson jokes in via other ways. Check out the latest joke swap below:
At the end of the day, these swaps seem to be done in good fun and don’t involve anything personal. Michael Che goes so hard on those segments because the audience must believe he’s truly trying to embarrass his co-star. Colin Jost has also gotten better at setting Che up for some humorous massive fails as well. As for Scarlett Johansson, she seems to have a good sense of humor and, if we’re being honest, she could unload on Jost if given the chance. (I’m sure she could riff on Jost’s wild Ferry purchase).
There don’t seem to be any joke swaps set for the immediate future, but tune in this weekend Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC as SNL Season 50’s latest host and musical guest will be Timothée Chalamet. You’ll also be able to access the episode using a Peacock subscription.

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid expressed both remorse and frustration Wednesday for the cross-checking incident with Vancouver‘s Conor Garland, how it was handled by officials and the three-game suspension that was levied as a result.
“I can’t have that reaction; everyone knows that,” McDavid said of the cross-check to Garland in the final minute of Saturday’s game. “[It’s] not the reaction I’m proud of or that anyone wants to see out of me, and I understand.
“That being said, there’s lots of infractions going on there [in the moment]. Maybe the whole thing is avoided with the blow of the whistle.”
McDavid and Garland became physically engaged and tumbled to the ice. Garland held McDavid’s arm as he tried to stand, and McDavid responded by punching Garland to separate them. When McDavid tried to re-enter the flow of the game, Garland again wrapped his arms around the center and took him back to the ice.
By the time they were both back on their skates, McDavid delivered a hard cross-check to Garland’s head.
The NHL’s Department of Player Safety determined Monday that it wasn’t a routine play and suspended McDavid for three games. He ultimately chose not to appeal.
“The league made their decision; I don’t necessarily agree with it,” McDavid said. “I’m not saying there shouldn’t have been any penalty or suspension or anything like that. I understand their decision. Have to move on.”
In a video statement, the Department of Player Safety said McDavid “retaliate[d] aggressively and intentionally, escalating the altercation by raising his stick significantly and making this contact: a high cross-check that makes direct contact with an opponent’s head with sufficient force” that warranted supplemental discpline.
This is McDavid’s second career suspension. The first was a one-game ban for an illegal check to the head of New York Islanders defenseman Nick Leddy in February 2019.
McDavid on Wednesday said he was just “trying to tie the game” and wasn’t expecting the wrestling match with Garland to escalate.
“I’m not really looking to engage with him,” McDavid said. “There’s a lot of holding [in the skirmish] and holding down — he holds my head down for a little bit and stuff like that.”
McDavid was asked if he could see what the referee’s reaction was while the two players were wrapped up.
“I did not,” McDavid snapped back. “I had my head between my legs.”
“I know where we are in the time of the game and what we’re trying to do,” McDavid added later. “The longer [the holding] goes, the more you think there’s going to be something. But I understand the refs have a hard job. With that being said, I have a hard job, too. Everyone has a hard job. That’s why we’re in this business.”
Edmonton’s star center is currently fourth in the league in scoring with 65 points in 43 games. He will forfeit $195,312.51 in salary while missing games against Washington on Tuesday, the Canucks on Thursday and Buffalo on Saturday.

Rohit came under a lot of fire following his disappointing outing during the Test series against Australia. He scored just 31 runs in 3 matches and following criticism from both fans as well as experts, he decided to drop himself for the final Test match in Sydney. Rohit returned to domestic cricket for the first time since 2015 but his innings was cut short as he was dismissed by Umar Nazir Mir.

The Chicago Bears have hired Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson as their new head coach, which ushers in an exciting new era for the NFL’s charter franchise.
There’s been plenty of reaction to the Johnson hire, including plenty of excitement from safeties Jaquan Brisker and Jonathan Owens, as well as fans and analysts. But there’s someone who doesn’t appear to be happy with the news — and it’s someone close to Johnson.
Former Bears and current Lions running back David Montgomery took to Instagram to share his reaction to his offensive coordinator leaving for Chicago, and it was pretty hilarious.
Montgomery signed with the Lions in 2023, where he’s played a key role in Detroit’s offensive success under Johnson. Montgomery rushed for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023, and he was on track to repeat his success in 2024 before he suffered what he feared was a season-ending knee injury in Week 15. He did return for the Lions’ lone postseason games and he finished the season with 775 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns, along with 341 receiving yards.
While Montgomery likely isn’t happy with his offensive coordinator leaving — yet along going to Detroit’s rival — he’ll get two opportunities for revenge every season for the foreseeable future. And Johnson will be looking to make a statement against his former team.
