  • Class 1 recalls for products sold in Oregon

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced several Class 1 recalls, the highest risk level, for various food products sold across multiple states, including Oregon and Washington. These recalls are primarily due to potential contamination or undeclared allergens.

Braga Fresh, a self-proclaimed organic farming company, has voluntarily recalled specific 12-ounce bags of Marketside Broccoli Florets sold at Walmart locations in 20 states, including Oregon, Washington, California, and the Tri-State area.

The recall is due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected broccoli, marked with UPC code “6 81131 32884 5” and lot code “BFFG327A6,” has a best-by date of Dec. 10.

Although the product is no longer available on shelves, some customers may still have it in their freezers.

Braga Fresh advised consumers not to consume the product and to discard it. “This voluntary advisory does not apply to any other Marketside or Braga Fresh produced products,” the company emphasized. As of Dec. 27, no illnesses have been reported.

In a separate recall, Frito-Lay has recalled bags of Lay’s potato chips sold in Oregon and Washington due to possible undeclared milk, following a consumer contact alert.

The FDA issued a Class 1 alert for this recall. “Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” an FDA spokesperson said. Consumers are instructed to discard the product immediately.

The recalled bags could have been purchased as far back as Nov. 3, 2024, according to the FDA.

No other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes or variety packs are recalled, the FDA said. So far, no allergic reactions related to this recall have been reported.

Additionally, the FDA has elevated the recall of certain Cal Yee Farms chocolate products to a Class 1 status.

The recall, initially announced on Dec. 12, involves dark chocolate walnuts, yogurt-coated almonds, and butter toffee, which may contain undeclared allergens such as milk, soy, wheat, sesame, FD&C #6, and almonds.

These products were distributed across nine states, including Oregon, California, and Arizona.

Cal Yee Farms stated that the recall followed an FDA inspection of their facility. “No illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled products,” the company said. Customers are advised to dispose of the products or return them for a full refund.

The FDA also reclassified a recall of Kirkland Signature brand smoked salmon, sold at Costco, to a Class 1 recall due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

The recall affects 111 cases of smoked salmon in twin 12-ounce packages, with UPC 0 96619 25697 6, Lot 8512801270 with the best by date of 11/13/2024. Consumers who purchased the product should throw it away or return it to Costco for a refund.

The FDA warned that Listeria can cause “serious and sometimes fatal infections” in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.

    2. Pfizer’s Advil products: Certain batches of Advil products, including Advil Liqui-Gels and Advil PM, have been recalled due to mislabeling issues. Make sure to double-check the lot number on your bottles and return them to the store for a replacement.

  • Jack Nicholson’s Daughter Recalls Dad’s Romance with Lara Flynn Boyle

Jack Nicholson’s daughter Lorraine Nicholson is reflecting on her dad’s relationship with Lara Flynn Boyle and the positive influence the actress had on the family dynamic.

In a recent essay for Vanity Fair, Lorraine recalled being a child when her father, now 87, romanced the former Twin Peaks star, now 54, in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

“I’ll never forget the first day Lara was introduced to us children. She came down the outdoor staircase to join us by the pool. I remember the sun reflecting on the water, the sound of wind chimes in the trees,” Nicholson, now 34, wrote of the encounter with the bikini-clad Boyle at the family home in Los Angeles.

“We didn’t have to know she had been nominated for an Emmy that year for her work on The Practice for my brother and I to know we were in the presence of a powerful person,” continued Lorraine, whose mother, Rebecca Broussard, was in a relationship with Nicholson from 1989 to 1994. (Nicholson and Broussard also share a son, actor Ray Nicholson, 32.)

Lorraine recalled her father’s house being the opposite of her mother’s loud, boisterous home. “We lived among an almost mausoleum-level quiet. By his own admission, my dad had a hard time connecting to us as children — though he loved beautiful women, he had no interest in playing with dolls,” she wrote.

Enter Boyle — aka “the Mary Poppins of Mulholland Drive” — who played Barbie dolls with Lorraine and slept in the same room if the young girl had bad dreams.

Boyle, a “gangly Irish American” who was picked apart in the press for her appearance, also helped Lorraine deal with her own insecurities at an impressionable age: “Lara taught me that much like femininity, adolescence can be depressing and confusing, but it can also be full of freedom and unencumbered play.”

Their play also extended to family time. “For my father, Lara acted as a bridge between him and his children. Suddenly, we were doing things we had never done before. In Aspen, we went whitewater rafting down the Colorado River. We cackled wildly while playing Parcheesi. In one particularly traitorous game of Uno, my brother and I kamakazied ourselves so that while we wouldn’t win, my father wouldn’t either,” she recalled.

“After he stormed out of the room, followed by a trail of very Nicholson obscenities, it was Lara who put a stop to his sulking and lured him back upstairs,” added Lorraine.

Lorraine knew even at that young age that the relationship between her father and Boyle wouldn’t stand the test of time. “And yet when I was with her, I had no clue what I would do without her,” she wrote.

The relationship did indeed come to an end, severing Lorraine’s ties, too. According to the writer, they have not seen each other for more than 20 years, but Boyle’s influence left a mark on Lorraine.

“I carry so much of her in me,” she wrote. “When she descended from the sky with her magic carpet bag, I was still figuring out the type of woman I wanted to be. In Lara, I saw characteristics that I liked— her irreverent sense of humor, her refusal to conform, her compassion for the underdog — and made them my own.”

Jack Nicholson’s daughter, Jennifer Nicholson, recently opened up about her father’s past romance with actress Lara Flynn Boyle in a candid interview. The two Hollywood stars dated back in the early 2000s, sparking headlines and speculation among fans and media alike.

In the interview, Jennifer shared her perspective on her father’s relationship with Boyle, describing it as a “complicated” and “intense” romance. She reflected on the challenges her father faced in balancing his personal life with his career and fame, and how his relationships often played out in the public eye.

Despite the ups and downs of their relationship, Jennifer expressed admiration for Boyle and the impact she had on her father during their time together. She highlighted the mutual respect and understanding the two shared, despite the challenges they faced as a couple.

As fans of Jack Nicholson and Lara Flynn Boyle continue to reminisce about their relationship, Jennifer’s insights offer a unique glimpse into the private lives of these two iconic Hollywood figures. Their romance may have been fleeting, but its lasting impact on both Nicholson and Boyle is undeniable.

  • WWE’s Big E Recalls ‘Fond’ Royal Rumble Memory With Former New Day Teammates

While they may have since turned their backs on him, Big E still holds many warm memories with Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, especially at the WWE Royal Rumble.

This year’s premium live event will emanate from the city of Indianapolis. It was in Philadelphia, though, that Big E remembers sharing an exhilarating moment with his former New Day brethren during the 2018 Men’s Royal Rumble match.

“The Rumble’s such a special event for so many different people. When I was cool with my old partners, we had a lot of fun,” Big E told “Indy Sports Daily.” “There was one Kofi save where we had a basket toss, he landed on a pile of pancakes. Woods was a cheerleader in grade school, and he taught me how to basket toss, so we basket tossed Kofi up in the air. That’s one of those things where if you mess it up live, it’s like ‘Alright, it’s done,’ but to be able to be a part of one of Kofi’s saves was really cool. That’s one of my fond memories.”

The spot in reference occurred moments after Jinder Mahal eliminated Woods and Big E from the competition. When Mahal tried to throw Kingston over the top rope as well, one of his feet touched the floor. The other was caught by Woods, then placed on top of a plate of pancakes introduced by Big E. From there, Mahal attempted to block Kingston from reentering the ring. To circumvent this, Woods and Big E subsequently launched Kingston over Mahal’s head like “a pogo stick,” as commentator Michael Cole described it.

Kingston’s return to action was brief, as Andrade eliminated him shortly thereafter. The former WWE Champion did manage to remove Mahal from the match within that same time frame, however.

If you use any of the quotes in this article, please credit “Indy Sports Daily” with a h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription.

WWE’s Big E recently took a trip down memory lane and shared a heartwarming story from his time as a member of the popular wrestling trio, The New Day. In a recent interview, Big E recalled a particularly special Royal Rumble moment that he shared with his former New Day teammates, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods.

Big E reminisced about the 2019 Royal Rumble, where all three members of The New Day entered the match together. The trio’s entrance was met with thunderous applause from the crowd, who showed their unwavering support for the beloved group. Big E described the moment as “surreal” and “magical,” as he and his teammates stood side by side in the ring, ready to take on whatever challenges came their way.

The bond between Big E, Kofi, and Xavier was evident in that moment, as they worked together seamlessly to outwit their opponents and put on a show-stopping performance for the fans. Big E expressed his gratitude for the experience, stating that it was a memory he would always hold dear.

As The New Day has since disbanded and each member has gone on to pursue solo careers in WWE, this Royal Rumble moment serves as a reminder of the incredible chemistry and camaraderie that the trio shared during their time together. Fans of The New Day can look back on this fond memory with a smile, knowing that the bond between Big E, Kofi, and Xavier will always be unbreakable.

  • Dave Grohl recalls mishap in Nirvana’s first ‘SNL’ performance

Dave Grohl‘s nerves nearly led to a “Titanic-level disaster” the first time Nirvana played Saturday Night Live.

“I was absolutely f—ing terrified,” the legendary grunge band’s drummer admitted in the new documentary Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music. “The room gets dead silent. Your heart is racing and you’re thinking, ‘Oh my God, I’m gonna faint. I’m gonna puke on live television. I’m gonna die.’”

While Grohl made it through the live performance of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” alongside bandmates Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic on the Jan. 11, 1992 episode, his equipment did not.

“Typically what happens if I get nervous, I beat the s— out of the drums, twice as hard,” the Foo Fighters frontman shared. “I was hitting the drums 10 times harder than I’ve ever hit them before in my life. By the first verse, I had snapped my snare stick in half. Which is not good.”

He emphasized, “Oh, and this is only like 20 seconds into the song.”

Nirvana on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 1992.

    NBC

Luckily Grohl’s mishap didn’t end in Nirvana offering all apologies for a ruined set.

“There was one break right before the first drum roll, I think, where I grabbed another stick really quick and busted into it. I mean, it was so close to being like Titanic-level disaster,” Grohl described.

The rockers also played “Territorial Pissings,” another song from their seminal album Nevermind, on the season 17 episode hosted by Rob Morrow.

Sign up for Entertainment Weekly‘s free daily newsletter to get breaking TV news, exclusive first looks, recaps, reviews, interviews with your favorite stars, and more.

In the documentary, SNL creator Lorne Michaels explained how the band made his radar. “David Geffen called me about Nirvana because they were on his label, and he said, ‘I don’t know what’s happening, but you know, last week they sold 60,000 records, and this week they sold 140,000, so something is happening,’” Michaels recalled.

Adam Sandler, in his second season on the cast at the time, remembered the frenzy around his fellow Gen Xers. “People were talking about it, getting more calls than you ever got before from friends in my hometown, just like, ‘What’s he like? What’s Kurt like?’”

Nirvana returned for a second stint as musical guest on Sept. 25, 1993, just seven months before Cobain’s death at age 27. And despite his early bout of nerves, Grohl went on to become the most frequent SNL musical guest in the show’s history, performing with Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Them Crooked Vultures, as an impromptu drummer for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and other special appearances. The Grammy winner and two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee has also popped up in sketches over the years to show off his comedy chops, like the fan-favorite “Punk Band Reunion at the Wedding.”

Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music, co-directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Oz Rodríguez, is now streaming on Peacock.

In a recent interview, Dave Grohl, former drummer of Nirvana, reminisced about a mishap that occurred during the band’s first appearance on Saturday Night Live back in 1992.

Grohl revealed that just before going on stage to perform their hit song “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” he accidentally knocked over his drum kit, causing chaos and confusion among the band members and crew. Despite the unexpected setback, Nirvana managed to pull off a memorable performance that has since become iconic in the history of rock music.

Grohl’s recollection of the mishap serves as a reminder that even in the midst of chaos and mishaps, true talent and determination can shine through. Nirvana’s performance on SNL that night is a testament to their resilience and ability to overcome obstacles in the pursuit of their art.

  • FDA Recalls Lay’s Potato Chips—Here’s What You Need To Know

The list of recalled food products being elevated to Class I (the highest recall level) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is continuing to grow. This time, the organization has updated its Lay’s Classic Potato Chips recall to Class I. The potato chips were previously recalled last December due to an undeclared milk allergen.

“Frito-Lay today issued a recall of a limited number of 13 oz. bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips that may contain undeclared milk, after being alerted through a consumer contact. Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” read an announcement made by the FDA on December 16.

The affected bags of chips, which are no longer on store shelves, were distributed to certain retail stores and e-commerce distributors in Oregon and Washington. They have a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of Feb. 11, 2025 and one of the two following manufacturing codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx.

In the initial recall, consumers who have an allergy or sensitivity to milk were informed not to consume the product and discard it immediately.

Several other products have been elevated to Class I from the FDA this month. Those products include Costco’s Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon and Walmart’s Marketside Broccoli Florets.

Class I is the highest risk level assigned by the FDA and one that means there’s a very serious risk of death. According to the organization’s website, Class I is described as “a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a recall for certain varieties of Lay’s potato chips due to potential contamination. Here’s what you need to know:

The affected products include Lay’s Lightly Salted Barbecue Flavored Potato Chips in 7 3/4 oz. bags with a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of August 27, 2021. The recall was initiated after a routine inspection found that these chips may contain an undeclared allergen (milk) not listed on the packaging.

Consumers who have purchased these Lay’s potato chips are advised to check the expiration date on the packaging and to not consume the product if it matches the specified date. Instead, they should return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

There have been no reported illnesses or adverse reactions related to this recall, but it is always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to potential allergen exposure.

For more information on the Lay’s potato chip recall, consumers can visit the FDA’s website or contact Lay’s customer service at 1-800-352-4477.

Honda has announced a recall of 295,000 vehicles due to an engine issue that could potentially cause a safety hazard. The affected vehicles include certain models of the Accord, Civic, and CR-V, with model years ranging from 2018 to 2021.

According to Honda, the problem stems from a faulty fuel pump that could cause the engine to stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners of the affected vehicles are advised to take their cars to a Honda dealership for inspection and, if necessary, repair.

This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of staying up-to-date on vehicle maintenance and safety recalls. If you own one of the affected Honda models, make sure to contact your nearest dealership as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for the necessary repairs. Your safety on the road is paramount, and Honda is committed to ensuring the reliability and performance of their vehicles.

  • Honda Recalls 290,000 Cars in US Over Engine Issues

Honda, including its premium brand Acura, is recalling 294,612 vehicles in the U.S. because of a software problem that could cause engines to stall or lose power, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced Wednesday.

The recall affects certain 2022-2025 Acura MDX Type S, 2023-2025 Honda Pilot and 2021-2025 Acura TLX Type-S models. The NHTSA said a fuel-injection electronic control unit software error may lead to engine failure, increasing the risk of crashes or injuries.

Honda has been contacted via email for comment.

The logo of Honda Motor Co. is seen at a dealership in Yokohama, near Tokyo, on December 15, 2021.

    Koji Sasahara, File/AP Photo

    Why It Matters

Stalling on a major road could lead to serious accidents or even death.

This is the third major Honda recall in less than a year. In October 2024, nearly 1.7 million Hondas were recalled because of steering problems. Another 700,000 were recalled at the same time because of fuel pump problems.

    What To Know

This recall follows an NHTSA investigation into engine failure in 1.4 million Hondas produced between 2016 and 2020, which was instigated on November 8, 2024.

The investigation specifically looked into rod bearing failures in the cars with six-cylinder engines. However, Wednesday’s recall is due to a software error. Jake Berg of Acura Public Relations told Newsweek that Wednesday’s recall and the NHTSA investigation in 2024 are not related.

This large Honda recall comes just five days after Ford recalled 270,827 Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick pickups because of faulty 12-volt batteries, four days after Kia recalled 80,000 cars because of wiring defects in their airbags and seat belt safety system, and a month after Tesla recalled 700,000 vehicles because of cars failing to alert drivers about low pressure, which could lead to crashes.

The Tesla models affected by this recall were the 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3, and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles.

Honda has a strong sales history, producing many of America’s most popular vehicles. Honda’s CR-V holds the fifth spot in Car and Driver‘s most popular SUVs, cars or trucks in America list for 2024, and the Honda Civic was the 10th most popular car in America last year. Neither of those cars is being recalled by the NHTSA.

Honda has big plans for its future. It is planning to release a new battery-electric SUV, the 2026 Acura RSX, later this year. It will be the first all-electric Acura not modeled off a General Motors product.

    What People Are Saying

Speaking about the recalls, Acura’s Jake Berg said: “The updated fuel-injection electronic control unit software was applied to production in mid-January. We are confident that we have identified all of the potentially affected vehicles and do not expect to add any in the future…. We are committed to delivering products of the highest quality to our customers. We are working closely with our dealers nationwide to minimize any impact recent recalls may have on our customers.”

    What Happens Next

Although two models of Acura have been subject to this recall, Berg said the new 2026 Acura RSX will not be affected because it is an all-electric vehicle. All-electric vehicles do not have a fuel-injection system since they are battery-operated.

Update 1/29/25, 10:25 a.m. ET: This story was updated to include comments from Jake Berg of Acura Public Relations.

Honda has announced a recall of 290,000 cars in the US due to engine issues. The affected vehicles include certain models of the Accord, CR-V, and Civic, all manufactured between 2018 and 2021.

The recall was initiated after Honda received reports of engine stalls and potential safety hazards related to the vehicles’ fuel pumps. The company is urging owners to bring their cars to authorized dealerships for a free inspection and repair if necessary.

Honda has stated that they are committed to the safety and satisfaction of their customers and are working diligently to address this issue. Owners can check if their vehicle is included in the recall by visiting Honda’s website or contacting their local dealership.

If you own one of the affected Honda models, it is important to take action promptly to ensure your safety and the proper functioning of your vehicle. Honda will cover all costs associated with the recall, so there is no need to worry about any financial burden.

Stay tuned for further updates on this recall and make sure to prioritize the safety of yourself and others on the road.

  • Isabella Strahan Bursts Into Tears as She Recalls Being ‘Told the Worst’ — That She Had Brain Cancer (Exclusive)

Isabella Strahan was very open throughout her journey battling medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Now, along with her family, she’s offering an even closer look at the health challenges she faced following her 2023 diagnosis.

On Feb. 5, the 20-year-old daughter of Michael Strahan will be featured in an ABC special: Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer. In an emotional trailer for the special, Isabella reflects on her cancer diagnosis and how she tried to keep a positive mindset despite her pain.

“You don’t really think the worst until you get told the worst.” she says before breaking down in tears.

On October 28, 2023, her 19th birthday, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove a golf-ball-sized brain tumor. The USC student and model’s parents Michael Strahan and Jean Muggli recall how shocking her diagnosis was for the family.

“The first thing that went through my mind was, ‘This must be a mistake.’ It didn’t seem real,” the Good Morning America co-anchor, 53, says.

“As a parent, you’re just scared,” Michael continues. “She told me at one point, ‘I’ll do whatever I gotta do because I don’t want to die.’ And I was like, wow.”

  • Coca-Cola Recalls Drinks in Parts of Europe Over High Levels of Chlorate

Coca-Cola’s bottler in Europe said on Monday that it had recalled some drinks sold in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands after discovering high levels of a chemical called chlorate during routine testing at a bottling facility.

The recalled products included Coca-Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Fuze Tea, Minute Maid, Nalu, Royal Bliss and Tropico in cans and glass bottles, according to a statement from Coca-Cola Europacific Partners.

Exposure to chlorate, a byproduct of using chlorine dioxide as a disinfectant and to control the odor and taste of water, can cause kidney problems and affect thyroid function, according to the Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration.

The agency added in a statement announcing the recall that “a risk, especially for children, cannot be ruled out” given the chlorine content detected.

The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority issued a warning on Monday urging consumers not to drink the products. Belgium’s Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain also announced a recall.

No other recalls were initiated outside those three countries, a spokesman for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners said in an emailed statement on Tuesday. He added that the company was in contact with regulators in Germany, France and Britain, where a “limited quantity” of products had also been shipped. The high levels were detected at a bottling facility in Ghent, Belgium, he said.

The recall affected products with production codes ranging from “328 GE” to “338 GE,” the company said. Those codes can be found on bottles and cans.

The company spokesman said that an independent expert analysis had concluded the likelihood of any associated risk for consumers was “very low.” The company also published a list of recalled products.

The spokesman did not immediately specify how many products had been affected by the recall. The bottler said on its website that its facility in Ghent processed 66,000 glass bottles and 120,000 cans per hour, operating around the clock.

The recall in the three countries prompted reviews of Coca-Cola goods elsewhere in Europe. Anne Gravett, an official at Britain’s Food Standards Agency, said in a statement that it was looking into whether any Coca-Cola products with high levels of chlorate were in that market.

Claire Moses and Gregory Schmidt contributed reporting from London.

Attention all Coca-Cola fans in Europe: Coca-Cola has issued a recall for certain drinks in parts of Europe due to high levels of chlorate being detected in the products. Chlorate is a chemical compound that can be harmful if consumed in large quantities.

The affected products include certain batches of Coca-Cola Classic, Diet Coke, and Coca-Cola Zero Sugar. The recall is limited to specific regions in Europe, so be sure to check the batch numbers on your bottles if you have purchased any of these products recently.

Coca-Cola is taking this issue very seriously and is working to rectify the situation as quickly as possible. If you believe you have purchased a recalled product, please return it to the store where you bought it for a refund or exchange.

Your health and safety are of the utmost importance, so please take this recall seriously and check your Coca-Cola products to ensure they are safe for consumption. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
