After the EU foreign ministers’ meeting on Monday, there seems to be a chance for the resumption of gas transit through Ukraine. This time, “Azeri” gas would be delivered to Slovakia.
The Slovak Foreign Minister welcomed the statement of the European Commission which will continue to negotiate with Ukraine. “From the beginning, we have discussed with the Ukrainian government the possibility of transporting gas other than Russian gas via Ukraine, and we see the willingness of the Ukrainian side to negotiate such transport as a return to the solution we proposed, where we talked about transporting gas from Azerbaijan, for example.” wrote Minister Juraj Blanár on his Facebook.
The Ukrainian President sent also a positive message about this solution during the weekend. “Ukraine stands ready to transit natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe and a contract could be inked quickly if an agreement can be reached,” said Volodymyr Zelenskiy after a meeting with Maia Sandu, President of Moldova.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, was also pleased with the Commission’s statement, as “it was committed to protecting the natural gas and oil pipelines leading to the member states of the European Union.” The Hungarian government will also be part of the negotiation on Ukrainian transit.
However, the gas arriving through Ukraine is hardly to come from Azerbaijan, but the volumes would be “swapped” between the two countries before they were shipped. There is also the question of how quickly the agreement can be finalised.

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport is receiving $41.5 million for improvements to security screening checkpoint and baggage handling systems, the airport announced Monday.
The funding will be split between two projects. $5.5 million will go towards the expansion of BWI’s D/E security checkpoint, and $36 million will improve baggage systems in the international terminal.
The D/E checkpoint project will add two lanes to the security checkpoint, which serves domestic and international passengers. Currently, the checkpoint reaches maximum capacity during peak periods. The additional lanes will help the airport accommodate increased passenger volume.
The international terminal project will replace outbound baggage systems, which have been in use since the facility was originally built more than 20 years ago. The project will also expand the baggage screen facility, and upgrade existing international baggage claim carousels.
The airport said it generates a total economic impact of $11.3 billion, supporting more than 107,000 jobs throughout Maryland and the region.
TSA reports more flight passengers with guns
The Transportation Security Administration said it saw an increase in the amount of guns detected at security checkpoints in Baltimore/Washington area airports in 2024.
Officers intercepted a record 47 guns from BWI Airport checkpoints in 2024, according to officials. Of the three airports in the region – including Washington National (DCA) and Dulles International (IAD) – BWI saw the highest number of guns recovered.
In May 2024 a BWI Airport employee was stopped with a loaded handgun at a security checkpoint, TSA said.
Nationwide, 6,679 firearms were recovered in 2024.

Triple H is reportedly set to become a two-time WWE Hall of Famer in 2025.
Per Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Triple H was informed that he would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2025. Stephanie McMahon, The Undertaker, and Shawn Michaels surprised him with the announcement during a town hall meeting for company employees. Johnson writes that Triple H was caught completely off-guard, and he got very emotional. Sources also said that he joked that he was going to “kill” Nick Khan.

Triple H was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019 as a member of D-Generation X. He is a 14-time world champion and a five-time Intercontinental Champion. Triple H eventually became the second Grand Slam Champion in WWE history. He also won the Royal Rumble twice, and he heled the tag team titles three times.
Triple H later transitioned into a backstage role. He had a key role in building NXT into what he would become. He took over as the head of creative after Vince McMahon retired in 2022, and he was later named the WWE Chief Content Officer.
