Arsenal have won their appeal against Myles Lewis-Skelly’s red card at Wolves, with the Football Association confirming that an independent regulatory commission had “upheld the claim of wrongful dismissal” and removed his three-match ban.
The 18-year-old was shown a straight red card by the referee Michael Oliver in the first half of Arsenal’s 1-0 win after bringing down Matt Doherty in his own half, becoming the third-youngest player to be dismissed in Premier League history. Mikel Arteta said he was “absolutely fuming” with the decision, which was checked and confirmed by the video assistant referee, Darren England.
Arsenal appealed on Tuesday afternoon and were informed within hours that it had been successful.

“An independent regulatory commission has upheld a claim of wrongful dismissal in relation to Myles Lewis-Skelly and removed his three-match suspension,” a statement from the FA said. “The Arsenal player was sent off for serious foul play during their Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday, January 25, 2025.”
The referees’ body, Professional Game Match Officials Limited, said it was appalled by the “abhorrent abuse”, including death threats, that Oliver and his family have received since the game. The 39-year-old’s home is reportedly under police guard.
He will not take charge of Arsenal’s game at home against Manchester City on Sunday but will officiate Ipswich v Southampton on Saturday. Before that, Oliver will be in charge for the Champions League match between Barcelona and Atalanta on Wednesday night, when Arsenal travel to Girona.
Lewis-Skelly’s red card was the fourth Arsenal have received this season, although Arteta had expressed confidence it would be rescinded without an appeal, as occurred when a Bruno Fernandes red card against Tottenham overturned earlier in the season.
“I am absolutely fuming but I leave it with you,” he said. “I think it is that obvious that we don’t need any comment today and hopefully the right thing will happen. There is a really good precedent, what happened with Bruno this season as well. OK, we were in a position that we shouldn’t be in, at least let’s be in a position that we should be in for the next few weeks and allow that player to continue to his job.”
Arsenal fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the club has successfully won their appeal against the red card shown to Kieran Lewis-Skelly during their match against Wolves. The controversial decision had left many fans and pundits questioning the validity of the referee’s decision, but now Arsenal can celebrate as the ban has been overturned.
Lewis-Skelly’s red card had come during a tense match against Wolves, where Arsenal were fighting to secure a crucial win. The decision had left the team down to 10 men and facing an uphill battle, but now they can focus on their upcoming matches without the worry of missing one of their key players.
Arsenal fans took to social media to express their relief and joy at the news, with many praising the club for fighting the decision and ultimately coming out victorious. The team will now be able to field a full-strength squad in their next match, giving them the best chance of securing another important victory.
Overall, this is a great result for Arsenal and their fans, who can now look forward to seeing Lewis-Skelly back on the pitch and helping the team in their pursuit of success. Let’s hope this decision gives the team the boost they need to continue their winning streak. #Arsenal #LewisSkelly #RedCardAppealWon #Victory #Relief.

Carlo Ancelotti branded the decision to not send off Espanyol‘s Carlos Romero — who later went on to score the only goal in his team’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid — as “inexplicable” on Saturday, after the defender apologised for his challenge on Kylian Mbappé.
Romero was shown a yellow card by referee Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz for his foul on Mbappé in the 61st minute, bringing down the Madrid forward with a tackle from behind as he broke away on the counter attack.
The defender later went on to score a dramatic 85th minute winner, with the defeat leaving leaders Real just one point clear of rivals Atlético Madrid at the top of the LaLiga table.
“The decision the referee and the VAR took is inexplicable,” Ancelotti told a post-match news conference. “Everyone saw it. The most important thing is to protect the player. It’s a clear foul, a very ugly challenge. Fortunately nothing happened in terms of an injury, but the VAR is there for that. It’s inexplicable to us that he didn’t show a red card.”
Speaking after the final whistle, Romero said he had apologised to Mbappé.
“I knew that it’s impossible to stop [Mbappé] on the run,” he told DAZN. “I did what I could to stop him. The challenge was a bit ugly, I didn’t like that, and I said sorry to him.”
Espanyol coach Manolo González said there had been no intent on Romero’s part to injure Mbappé.
“It was a tough challenge, but it was meant to stop the counterattack, not to hurt the opponent,” González told DAZN.
Madrid were also angered by the first-half decision to disallow a Vinícius Júnior goal for a foul by Mbappé.
“The game was difficult,” Ancelotti admitted. “We did some things well. We had control, above all in the second half, and we had chances. We had a goal ruled out, we hit the woodwork. We had 20 shots on goal. Espanyol played well in transitions, defended well, they caught us out of shape and they scored.”
Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger was withdrawn with an injury in the 15th minute, ahead of a run of games which will see Madrid play Leganés in a Copa del Rey quarterfinal, before hosting rivals Atlético in the derby next Saturday, and then visiting Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League knockout phase playoff.
The team are already without Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão in defence — while David Alaba has only just returned from a long-term absence — with the transfer window set to close on Monday.
“Rudiger has a muscular injury, now we’ll have to assess it,” Ancelotti said. “We’ve talked about [signings], we’ve thought about it and we know what we have to do.”
Carlo Ancelotti, the manager of Everton, has expressed his frustration with the referee’s decision to give a red card to one of his players in their recent match. The player in question has also issued an apology for his actions.
In a post-match press conference, Ancelotti slammed the red card call as ‘inexplicable’ and questioned the referee’s judgment. He believed that the decision had a significant impact on the outcome of the game and felt that it was unfair to his team.
The player who received the red card also spoke out, expressing his remorse for the foul that led to his sending off. He acknowledged that his actions were reckless and apologized to his teammates, the fans, and the coaching staff.
Despite the setback, Ancelotti remains confident in his team’s ability to bounce back from this defeat. He is determined to learn from this experience and focus on improving their performance in future matches.
Overall, this incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of football and the importance of maintaining composure in high-pressure situations. Ancelotti and his team will now look to regroup and continue their pursuit of success in the remainder of the season.

Texas Tech and Houston have shown up to the game, but their offenses sure haven’t. Sitting on a score of 41-37, Texas Tech has looked like the better team, but there’s still one more half to play.
Texas Tech entered the contest having won five straight and they’re just one half away from another. Will they make it six, or will Houston step up and spoil it? We’ll know soon.
Houston is on a 28-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Texas Tech is on a six-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. Both will face off in a Big 12 battle at 6:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Fertitta Center. The Cougars are strutting in with some offensive muscle as they’ve averaged 76 points per game this season.
Houston is headed into this one after the oddsmakers set last week’s over/under low at 124.5, but even that wound up being too high. They came out on top against West Virginia by a score of 63-49 on Wednesday.
Houston’s win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from L.J. Cryer, who earned 17 points. Cryer had some trouble finding his footing against Kansas on Saturday, so this was a step in the right direction.
Meanwhile, Texas Tech earned a 71-57 win over TCU on Wednesday.
Texas Tech can attribute much of their success to JT Toppin, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Toppin a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Chance McMillian, who had 16 points.
Houston is on a roll lately: they’ve won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. As for Texas Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 16-4.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Houston hasn’t had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 76 points per game. However, it’s not like Texas Tech struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 81.4. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
As for their next game, Houston is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 10.5 points. For those looking to play the spread, take note: they are a solid 11-7 against the spread when expected to win.
Odds
Houston is a big 10.5-point favorite against Texas Tech, according to the latest college basketball odds.
The oddsmakers were right in line with the betting community on this one, as the game opened as a 10.5-point spread, and stayed right there.
Houston has won all of the games they’ve played against Texas Tech in the last 5 years.

Houston Cougars vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders game preview
The Houston Cougars will put their 9-0 conference record on the line when they host the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday. Houston has been the class of the Big 12 thus far, and their recent road wins over Kansas and West Virginia further prove that. As for Texas Tech, they are currently 7-2 league play with recent wins at home over Oklahoma State and TCU. An upset win for the Red Raiders would tighten up the Big 12 regular season title race, and they may have a good chance to accomplish that in this matchup with the Cougars.
Houston is coming off 2 huge road wins, including a miraculous overtime win at Allen Fieldhouse against Kansas, so you could consider this to be a let down spot for the Cougars. The injury report is also important to monitor in this contest, as Emmanuel Sharp has been dealing with an ankle injury and was limited to 3 points in just 18 minutes in their last game vs West Virginia. Sharp is key for this Cougars team that lacks perimeter scoring depth outside of LJ Cryer, so consider this a big loss if he is either limited again or is unable to play in this contest.
Houston’s defense is #1 in adjusted efficiency, per KenPom, but Texas Tech’s offense may have one of the better setups to succeed against it. There are 3 important qualities for teams to have in order to generate offensive success against the Cougars, and those are ball security, 3-point shooting, and offensive rebounding. The Red Raiders grade out well in all 3 categories, as they are 80th nationally in turnover rate, 23rd in 3-point shooting percentage, and 22nd on the offensive glass. The spacing the Red Raiders have is especially important in this matchup against the Cougars’ rim denial defense, and forcing the Cougars’ bigs to guard on the perimeter can potentially break down Kelvin Sampson’s defense to an extent.
Texas Tech is dealing with an injury of their own, as Darrion Williams is questionable for this contest after missing last game vs TCU. While he is an important player for the Red Raiders in the long term, his loss may not be felt as much in this contest. Coach Grant McCasland has elected to use a 2 big man lineup during Williams’ absence, and this should help the Red Raiders significantly on the defensive glass. Houston is one of the best offensive rebounding teams in the country, but Texas Tech’s frontcourt combo of JT Toppin and Federiko Federiko has a great chance at limiting the Cougars in that area.
While it is scary to bet against Houston, that is exactly what we are going to do here with Texas Tech as a 9.5 point underdog. The favorable matchup the Red Raiders may have along with this potentially being a letdown spot for the Cougars is too much to ignore. If the Red Raiders get hot from 3-point range, they have potential to pull off the road upset, but my official pick will be taking the points.
Texas Tech vs Houston prediction:Texas Tech +9.5 (-110) at time of publishing, playable at that number

The highly anticipated matchup between the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Houston Cougars is set to take place this weekend, and fans are buzzing with excitement. Both teams have had strong showings so far this season, making this game a must-watch for college football fans.
The Red Raiders are coming off a big win against FIU, showcasing their explosive offense led by quarterback Tyler Shough. On the other side, the Cougars have been impressive as well, with a dominant defense and a balanced offensive attack.
In terms of odds, the Red Raiders are currently favored to win by a narrow margin, but the Cougars are not to be underestimated. This game could truly go either way, making it a tough one to predict.
As for picks, it’s a tough call, but I believe the Red Raiders will come out on top in a close and hard-fought battle. Their offense has been firing on all cylinders, and I think they will be able to outscore the Cougars in the end.
Overall, this matchup promises to be a thrilling one, with two talented teams battling it out for supremacy. Be sure to tune in and catch all the action as the Texas Tech Red Raiders take on the Houston Cougars.

We’ve got another exciting Big East matchup on schedule as the St. John’s Red Storm and the Providence Friars are set to tip at 12:00 p.m. ET on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. The Red Storm will be looking to keep their 15-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
St. John’s is headed into this one after the oddsmakers set last week’s over/under low at 139.5, but even that wound up being too high. Everything went their way against Georgetown on Tuesday as St. John’s made off with a 66-41 win. The Red Storm have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. John’s to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zuby Ejiofor, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. What’s more, Ejiofor also posted a 83.3% field goal percentage, which is the highest he’s posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kadary Richmond, who went 6 for 7 en route to 13 points plus six rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Providence had just enough and edged Seton Hall out 69-67 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Friars.
Providence got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Corey Floyd Jr. out in front who earned 11 points plus seven rebounds and five assists. Bensley Joseph was another key player, posting 12 points in addition to seven rebounds.
St. John’s has been performing incredibly well recently as they’ve won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Providence, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: St. John’s has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 41.6 rebounds per game. However, it’s not like Providence struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 38.5. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we’ll see if one team can grab an edge.
Looking forward, St. John’s is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 13.5 points. This contest will be their eighth straight as the favorites (so far over this stretch they are 5-2 against the spread).
Odds
St. John’s is a big 13.5-point favorite against Providence, according to the latest college basketball odds.
The oddsmakers were right in line with the betting community on this one, as the game opened as a 13.5-point spread, and stayed right there.

Red Bull test new RB21 ahead of competition – Red Bull gains an edge as Verstappen and Lawson hit the Bahrain track early for film day as Red Bull tests RB21 ahead of official preseason – As the countdown to the 2025 Formula One season intensifies, Red Bull Racing has once again demonstrated its strategic ingenuity. With the official three-day pre-season test in Bahrain set to begin on 26 February, Red Bull is exploiting a regulatory loophole to get an early start.
By using a designated filming day, the reigning champions will have the RB21 on track before any of their rivals. The move allows Red Bull to fine-tune its latest challenger ahead of the competition, maximising its preparation time and ironing out any teething problems before the crucial pre-season testing days begin.
Formula 1’s pre-season constraints and Red Bull’s advantage
In the past, Formula One teams enjoyed a great deal of flexibility when it came to pre-season testing. In recent years, however, the sport has imposed strict restrictions, reducing the testing window to just three days. These condensed sessions put teams under immense pressure, leaving little room for error or last-minute adjustments.
With so little time available, teams must optimise every lap to ensure their cars are in peak condition ahead of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix. However, Red Bull have managed to extend their preparation time by an extra day by cleverly using one of the two filming days allowed by Formula One regulations.
These filming days, primarily for marketing and promotional purposes, allow teams to run their cars for a maximum of 200 kilometres in strictly controlled conditions. While true performance testing is restricted, teams can still gather valuable data on handling, balance and early reliability concerns.
With Max Verstappen and reserve driver Liam Lawson set to take to the track in Bahrain on 25 February, Red Bull will gain a crucial head start – one that could prove vital in their championship defence.
Pierre Wache, technical director at Red Bull, will be looking closely at the RB21 shakedown
Filming Days: A strategic opportunity for F1 teams
While officially designed for the creation of commercial content, filming days have long been used by teams as a subtle means of conducting early shakedown runs. These sessions provide a rare opportunity to evaluate a new car in real-world conditions before the official testing window begins.
For Red Bull, this approach is particularly important. Should any unexpected technical issues arise, the team will have a full day to resolve them before the official testing begins. This proactive measure reduces the risk of losing valuable track time during the limited testing period.
Formula 1 teams operate on razor-thin performance margins and any advantage – no matter how small – can make a significant difference. Given the high-stakes nature of pre-season testing, where every minute counts, Red Bull’s decision to use its day of filming in Bahrain is a strategic masterstroke.
According to the Dutch edition of *Motorsport.com*, Red Bull will entrust Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson with the task of shaking down the RB21 ahead of the official test.
For three-time world champion Verstappen, this early opportunity is an invaluable chance to familiarise himself with the latest iteration of Red Bull’s car. Given the team’s dominant form in recent seasons, any incremental refinements could further cement their position at the top.
Meanwhile, the involvement of Liam Lawson is also notable. The young New Zealander has been knocking on the door for a full-time F1 seat and is seen as a key figure in Red Bull’s future plans. His participation in such an important session underlines the team’s confidence in his abilities.
Technical Director Pierre Wache has given an insight into Red Bull’s development priorities over the winter break. Despite securing the Drivers’ Championship for 2024, the team has identified key areas for improvement – most notably balance.
“Our main focus has been on solving the balance issues that affected us last season,” explained Wache.
“That doesn’t mean we’ve ignored other aspects of the car, but balance has been our primary concern.”
While Red Bull’s dominance was evident in the previous campaign, the team struggled to achieve consistent handling balance, particularly in varying track conditions. By addressing this early, Red Bull aims to ensure the RB21 is an even more formidable competitor in 2025.
Red Bull’s proactive approach will undoubtedly put its rivals on notice. With the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and McLaren looking to close the gap, every advantage counts.
The early track time could give Red Bull an extra layer of preparation, allowing the team to fine-tune its set-up and iron out any potential reliability issues before the real testing begins. Given how small the performance gap can be in modern Formula One, this seemingly small advantage could translate into significant gains once the race begins.
With the 2025 season fast approaching, Red Bull’s decision to hit the track ahead of the competition underlines its commitment to maintaining its dominance. By making the most of every opportunity, the team is cementing its reputation as one of the most strategically astute operations in the sport.
Red Bull’s decision to use a day of filming for a pre-test shakedown is a clever use of the Formula One regulations. While other teams have to wait until 26 February to begin their pre-season testing programmes, Red Bull will already have valuable data in hand – data that could make all the difference when the real action begins.
With Verstappen and Lawson leading the way, the RB21’s early debut in Bahrain could be a crucial step in Red Bull’s 2025 campaign. As the rest of the grid looks on, one thing is clear: the reigning champions are leaving nothing to chance.
Red Bull Racing once the masters of the seamless transition of their drivers found themselves wanting during last seasons Formula One campaign. Since the days of Sebastian Vettel, the Milton Keynes based team has their next star driver ready as the current star begins to fade.
Daniel Ricciardo stepped up in 2014, following four years of dominance from Red Bull and his team mate Sebastian Vettel. The youth and enthusiasm of the then young Aussie trounced the experience of his vastly more experienced team mate, who decided after just one year of their partner ship, it was tine to move on to Ferrari.
Max Verstappen too was transitioned from the junior squad alongside Ricciardo in 2016, although it was almost two full years before the Dutch driver got the better of the loveable Ricciardo. Yet since the promotion of Max to the senior team, Red Bull’s seamless supply of young drivers appeared to have dried up…READ MORE ON THIS STORY

Red Bull has set a date for the debut of its RB21 Formula 1 car, with Max Verstappen and Liam Lawson pressed into action at a filming day in Bahrain on Tuesday 25 February.
Motorsport.com understands Red Bull will shake down its 2025 challenger one day before the new season properly gets underway with three days of official testing at the Sakhir circuit.
World champion Verstappen will log his first miles with his new car, and his new team-mate Lawson will also take the wheel of the RB21 ahead of his official Red Bull debut in Bahrain.
As per the updated regulations, teams are allowed to complete up to 200km per launch date on Pirelli demonstration tyres. Last year Red Bull opted to hold its filming with Verstappen and Perez at Silverstone, a day which was affected by rain.
Red Bull previously confirmed it is foregoing its own launch event, revealing its 2025 livery alongside all the other teams at F1’s launch event at the London O2 Arena on 18 February, with F1 hosting the one-off event to celebrate its 75th anniversary.
That event means several outfits, like Mercedes and now Red Bull, are heading straight to Bahrain for testing before unveiling their actual 2025 car designs, whereas the likes of Ferrari and Williams are still hosting their own launches.

Speaking at the Autosport Awards on Wednesday, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner was hopeful his squad would be in the mix again this year after dropping to third in last year’s constructors’ championship, calling 2025 too close to call between McLaren, Ferrari, Mercedes and his own outfit.
“I think it’s going to be super tight. You’re going to have four teams that are going to be very competitive, so take your pick,” Horner said, before collecting the International Driver of the Year award on behalf of Verstappen.
“But McLaren are going to be strong. Ferrari are going to be strong. Mercedes are going to have something to prove as well. So, it could be a stellar year.”
With the RB21 Red Bull is aiming to cure some of its predecessor’s balance issues that derailed a large part of its 2024 campaign, but will face a development programme which – like all teams – it must balance with work on the all-new 2026 regulations.

The energy drink brand announced an NIL deal with the Texas Longhorns quarterback on Instagram on Thursday, writing “target locked, wiiings secured @archmanning.”
Manning, who has yet to be a full-time starter in college football, is regarded as the most marketable amateur athlete in sports, with a $6.6 million NIL Valuation, according to the ON3, outpacing every other college and high school athlete.

The deal adds to what is likely to become one of the largest NIL deal portfolios ever seen.
In July, Manning opted into EA Sports’ College Football 25 after rumors emerged he wouldn’t let his likeness be included in the video game, receiving between $50,000-$60,000 from the company to promote the product.
Manning also previously entered an NIL deal with Panini America in July 2023.
The son of Peyton Manning, nephew of Eli Manning and grandson of Archie Manning, Arch is already one of the most highly anticipated college football prospects thanks to his family history.
But his play on the field speaks volumes as well — he’s already one of the favorites to win next season’s Heisman Trophy and be one of the first names off the board in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Next season, Manning is expected to be behind center for the Longhorns after serving as the backup quarterback for Quinn Ewers for most of the 2024 season.
In limited action last season, Manning threw for 969 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 115 yards and four touchdowns on the ground after redshirting his freshman season at Texas.
Arch Manning, the highly touted quarterback prospect and nephew of NFL legends Peyton and Eli Manning, has just signed a groundbreaking NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal with energy drink giant Red Bull.
This deal marks a significant moment in the world of college athletics, as it showcases the growing influence and earning power of student-athletes. Under the terms of the agreement, Manning will be featured in Red Bull’s marketing campaigns, social media posts, and promotional materials. In return, he will receive a substantial financial compensation package.
Manning, who is currently a high school senior and has yet to commit to a college program, is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the country. With his strong arm, accuracy, and football IQ, he has already drawn interest from top college football programs.
By signing this NIL deal with Red Bull, Manning is not only securing his financial future but also setting a new standard for student-athletes to capitalize on their talents and marketability. This move could potentially pave the way for other young athletes to explore similar opportunities and maximize their earning potential while still in school.
Overall, this partnership between Arch Manning and Red Bull is a win-win for both parties and represents a new era in college athletics where student-athletes have the ability to leverage their personal brand for financial gain.
