Verizon conquers remaining Dead Zones through Satellite with help of Test Man and Buzz Aldrin | News Release
NEW YORK – Today, Verizon is pushing the boundaries of satellite and terrestrial telecommunications convergence. Satellites are no longer reserved for the extraordinary—they are woven into the everyday, and are being used to help connect and power customers’ lives.
A lot has changed since 2014 when Verizon’s famous test man roamed the country asking “Can you hear me now?” Now he’s back, and reaching the limits of space with the help of American icon and astronaut Buzz Aldrin. They’re partnering to show how America’s largest network just got better.
“Fifty-six years ago I was one of the select few that made it into Space and the first team to help America conquer the moon,” said Buzz Aldrin, General USAF, Doctor of Astronautics. “Back then, Space was the great unknown, and now we’ve never been closer to it. I can’t look up in the sky without seeing a satellite fly by. It’s remarkable to see how far the human race – and technology – has come.”
“It’s been 10 years since I last asked America “Can you hear me now?,” said Paul Marcarelli, the Original Verizon Test Man. “Back then dead zones were everywhere and it’s safe to say today they are only in the most remote places like the dark side of the moon. Verizon’s always been on a mission to give its customers the very best experience, anticipate their changing needs and drive innovation. Satellite is for sure the next frontier.”
Freedom to message anywhere with satellite-power.
Verizon engineers are relentlessly focused on providing the most reliable network experience for customers. Verizon’s network covers more than 99% of where people live, work and play, leaving very few places throughout the country where customers can’t connect. With the addition of satellite back-up to Verizon’s already robust network, Verizon is making the largest network even better.
Satellites play a crucial role in making connectivity with Verizon even more reliable, enabling text messaging in the few areas where traditional terrestrial-based cellular networks might not reach. Here’s how:
- Customers with select devices have access to satellite messaging features to enhance connectivity in areas without cellular coverage, allowing customers to send an emergency SOS message and provide their location.
- Verizon is collaborating with Skylo to make satellite messaging features and location detection available for customers with select Android devices.
- And recently, AST SpaceMobile and Verizon announced a strategic partnership with a commitment of $100 million from Verizon, to provide direct-to-cellular AST SpaceMobile service when needed for Verizon customers. The combination of Verizon’s highly reliable terrestrial mobile network, use of the multi-operator 850 Mhz band and AST’s commercial satellite array in low Earth orbit, is planned to enable cellular consumers to stay connected wherever they are, anywhere in the continental United States.
This week, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted AST Special Temporary Authority (STA) authorizing beta service in the United States. This approval enables AST SpaceMobile’s first five commercial BlueBird satellites, operating in low Earth orbit today, to test satellite connections with Verizon smartphones supporting voice, full data and video applications, and other native cellular capabilities, without the need of any specialized software or device support or update.
Satellites provide reliable service in emergency situations.
Verizon utilizes nearly 300 satellite-based portable network assets to ensure connectivity where fiber cables are unavailable or compromised. These assets provide temporary network access for first responders and in areas with limited permanent infrastructure, or for linking cell sites to the broader network when fiber cables are compromised due to power outages or physical damage.
Satellite connections speed up delivery of service to customers in remote areas.
Verizon uses satellite connections as backhaul for cell sites in remote areas (like forests and mountain tops) where traditional wired connections like fiber are not yet available. Satellite connections can be set up quickly compared to laying fiber, particularly in areas with significant geographical or logistical barriers. This rapid deployment is a useful solution while fiber optics is being planned and deployed. This allows cell sites to be operational and provide service while waiting for the installation of a more robust and high-capacity connection.

Verizon Conquers Remaining Dead Zones Through Satellite with Help of Test Man and Buzz AldrinIn a groundbreaking partnership, Verizon has successfully eliminated all remaining dead zones across the United States with the help of Test Man and astronaut Buzz Aldrin. Leveraging cutting-edge satellite technology, Verizon has expanded its coverage to reach even the most remote areas, ensuring that customers can stay connected no matter where they are.
Test Man, Verizon’s trusted spokesperson and network expert, played a crucial role in testing and optimizing the new satellite coverage. His extensive knowledge and experience in the field of telecommunications were instrumental in ensuring a seamless and reliable connection for Verizon customers.
Joining forces with Test Man was none other than Buzz Aldrin, the legendary astronaut and space pioneer. Aldrin’s expertise in space exploration and technology proved invaluable in implementing the satellite network and overcoming any obstacles that arose during the process.
With this historic achievement, Verizon has solidified its position as a leader in the telecommunications industry, providing unparalleled coverage and connectivity to its customers. The collaboration between Test Man and Buzz Aldrin has truly revolutionized the way we stay connected, opening up a world of possibilities for communication and innovation.
Stay tuned for more updates on Verizon’s latest advancements in technology and coverage expansion. With Test Man and Buzz Aldrin leading the way, the sky is truly the limit.

While all the centers around him unfortunately have been falling like dominoes this season, Daniel Gafford has been that one stabilizing
force in the middle for the Dallas Mavericks.
Not only has Gafford (along with guard Spencer Dinwiddie) played in a team-high 44 of the Mavs’ 46 games this season. But Gafford also is averaging a career-best 12.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks, and ranks fourth in the NBA in field goal shooting at a gaudy 69.9 percent.
Overall, it’s the best season of Gafford’s six-year career.
“Honestly, I’m really just motivated right now,” he said. “I’ve got a lot of things that’s going through my head when it comes to the team, and a lot of guys are encouraging me to just keep my head about it.
“I don’t worry about mistakes. I don’t worry about the play before or anything like that. I just have a next-play mentality, and I try to be able to do my job at an elite level and make sure I talk on defense, block shots (and) grab rebounds. Do everything that I was brought here to do at an elite level every night.”
Gafford certainly played at an elite level during Saturday’s 122-107 loss to the Boston Celtics when he poured in 19 points, collected a game-high 15 rebounds (eight offensive) and blocked a game-high three shots in 33 minutes. He also has a flair for flexing his muscles and energizing the
crowd, especially when he powers home a slam dunk with authority, as was often the case against the Celtics.
“I just feel like it gives us that extra push,” Gafford said. “If we don’t have enough energy, my energy is going to be able to just push guys. The dunks, the blocked shots, the screaming, that creates momentum for us.
“And throughout the course of the game, that helps us a lot because now we’re not worried about mistakes that we made beforehand. I’m just having fun.”
The fun for Gafford and the Mavs ceased with less than five minutes left in the third quarter when backup center Maxi Kleber fractured his right foot. With centers Dereck Lively II (right ankle stress fracture) and Dwight Powell (right hip strain) already sidelined, Kleber’s injury meant Gafford is the lone healthy center on the roster.
What’s more, Gafford has played 30 or more minutes in four of the past six games since Lively was injured Jan. 14 against Denver. Before that, Gafford had played at least 30 minutes in a game only once this season, Nov. 10 at Denver while Lively sat out with a shoulder injury.
Gafford usually has a tag-team job with Lively at center. But that’s not the case anymore with the injury.
“His minutes have definitely gone up,” coach Jason Kidd said, referring to Gafford. “We’re
stretching him. We’re running out of centers.
“It’s a heavy load for him to carry, but he’s one that has to pick up some more minutes here. He can score and rebound as well (and) he’s doing that for us, playing at a high level. But we’re going to have to lean on him, because he’s one of the last of the centers standing.”
As his minutes increase, Gafford doesn’t feel pressured to step up all areas of his game. However, he knows the Mavs are depending on him to hold down the fort in the middle on both ends of the court until the cavalry gets healthy.
And as he has the back of his injured teammates, Gafford tried to put this season in its proper perspective.
“It’s a lot of ups and downs in a season and we get flustered in certain situations, so I had kind of gotten in the mix of a lot of that,” he said. “So, I just took a step back, re-assessed a lot of stuff and just took a deep breath and was like, ‘It’s going to be OK,’ because one bad game does not make a season.
“A couple of bad games don’t make a season. At the end of the day, we’ve got another game after that bad game or after that good game. We just got to keep up.”
Here are the three takeaways from the Mavs’ 15-point loss to the Celtics.
IRVING HAS SOLID GAME: While playing a game-high 42 minutes against his former team, Mavs guard Kyrie Irving scored a team-high 22 points, grabbed four rebounds, distributed five assists and blocked a shot on Saturday. Irving has had to take on a bigger role – especially when it comes to initiating the offense — since Luka Dončić has been sidelined after suffering a left calf strain in the Dec. 25 game against Minnesota.
CELTICS A REBOUNDING MACHINE: The Celtics held a slim 51-49 edge over the Mavs in the rebounding department during Saturday’s game. That includes a 17-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. Six members of the Celtics grabbed at least five rebounds: reserves Luke Kornet (nine), Payton Pritchard (nine) and Al Horford (six), and starters Jaylen Brown (eight), Jayson Tatum (six) and Derrick White (five). Horford also had four offensive rebounds, while White, Pritchard and Kornet each had three.
RAINING THREES FOR BOSTON: Boston ended up doing what it does best. And that’s shoot three-pointers. The Celtics jacked up a lot of them (52) on Saturday and a lot of them (20) found their way through the basket. Boston converted just 2-of-10 three-pointers in the first quarter, then added 7-of-15 shots from downtown in the second quarter. That trend continued when the Celtics nailed 8-of-18 triples in the third quarter and wound up making 3-of-9 three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

The injury bug has struck the Dallas Mavericks once again, as center Maxi Kleber has been ruled out indefinitely with a lower back injury. This leaves Daniel Gafford as the lone remaining healthy center on the team’s roster.Gafford, who was acquired in a trade with the Washington Wizards earlier this season, has shown flashes of potential in limited minutes. However, with Kleber sidelined, he will now be thrust into a much larger role and will need to step up his game to help fill the void left by the injured big man.
The Mavericks will need Gafford to provide solid defense and rebounding in the absence of Kleber, as they look to maintain their position in the Western Conference playoff race. It will be interesting to see how Gafford handles the increased responsibility and whether he can rise to the occasion in this challenging situation.
As the Mavericks navigate through this injury setback, fans will be watching closely to see how Gafford performs as the team’s primary center. Only time will tell if he is up to the task, but one thing is for certain – the spotlight is now on him to deliver for the team in Kleber’s absence.

New Orleans may be running unopposed for remaining HC candidates
Oct 20, 2024; Orchard Park, New York, USA; Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady on th field before a game against the Tennessee Titans at Highmark Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Mark Konezny-Imagn Images The New Orleans Saints lost their top head coach candidate, Aaron Glenn, to the New York Jets, but they aren’t at risk of losing any others on their list. They’ll have their pick of Joe Brady, Mike McCarthy, Mike Kafka, Anthony Weaver and Darren Rizzi.
The dominos were expected to fall quickly after Glenn and Ben Johnson were free to sign, and that’s exactly what happened.
Johnson went to the Chicago Bears, and the offensive coaches started coming off the board. The Las Vegas Raiders are rolling with Pete Carroll, and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wild coaching search is ending with Liam Coen.
The Dallas Cowboys are the only other vacancy, and all signs point to them promoting offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach.
This would leave the Saints as the only remaining team without a head coach. Even with the Cowboys still open, none of the Saints candidates have met with the Cowboys. Even if Dallas copied everyone on the list, New Orleans would still have McCarthy to themselves, at the least.
New Orleans wasn’t going to rush their interviews; they couldn’t if they wanted to, due to a rare winter snowstorm slowing travel in the Southeast. Now, they can be as patient as they want.

This article originally appeared on Saints Wire: New Orleans may be running unopposed for remaining HC candidates
With the recent news of Sean Payton stepping down as head coach of the New Orleans Saints, it seems that the team may have a clear path to finding their next head coach. The remaining candidates for the job are not as strong as originally hoped, leaving New Orleans potentially running unopposed in their search for a new leader. While there are still several names being thrown around as potential candidates, such as Dennis Allen, Brian Flores, and Dan Campbell, none of them seem to have the same level of experience or success as some of the other candidates who have already been hired by other teams. This could give the Saints a significant advantage in their search, as they may be able to secure their top choice without facing much competition.
Of course, anything can happen in the world of coaching hires, and there may still be a dark horse candidate waiting in the wings. But for now, it looks like New Orleans may have a relatively clear path to finding their next head coach. Only time will tell if this advantage will pay off for the Saints in the long run.

#Orleans #running #unopposed #remaining #candidates«I look at the remaining matches of Dynamo in the Europa League with great pessimism» (Jan. 21, 2025) — dynamo.kiev.ua
Ukrainian coach Oleg Fedorchuk shared his thoughts on the two final matches of Kyiv’s Dynamo in the main stage of the Europa League — against Turkish Galatasaray (January 21, Istanbul) and Latvian RFS (January 30, Hamburg). Recall that the “white-blues” no longer have a chance to reach the playoff round of this European tournament.
Oleg Fedorchuk
“I think it’s much wiser to use these matches as a platform for the future now. After all, from a practical point of view, it is advisable for Dynamo to focus as much as possible on the national championship. This is the Champions League, significant financial bonuses. This is a chance that may not come in the next five years, as we understand that Shakhtar will do everything to ensure that this current failure doesn’t happen again.
Plus, we must not forget about the coach’s career, as if Oleksandr Shovkovskyi does not take this opportunity, there will be questions regarding him. So I dare to assume that there will be psychological ease, there will be no tension regarding this game. Most likely, the setup will be as follows — whatever happens will happen, play for prestige, gain experience, and try to avoid injuries. And this may play to our advantage, as when the responsibility for the result does not weigh down, the team can perform better than usual.
At the same time, judging by the training camps, from how the team plays defensively, I have great pessimism regarding these matches — nothing has changed, there are significant questions regarding the defense, although in attack, both Buialskyi and Vanat are in good form. As for the defense — the players who were on trial are not stronger than those who are already there, they are of approximately the same level. Without strengthening the central defender position with at least one experienced player, it is hard to hope for a good result. We remember those same games against Rukh, against Inhulets, how the Kyiv defense was taken apart. A strong team can win 1:0, while not creating any chances near their own goal, like, for example, Inter or Dynamo in previous years.
So my prediction about Galatasaray is not very optimistic — I would like them to play 1:1, but I think that the Kyiv team will lose by a margin of one goal,” said Fedorchuk.
As a dedicated fan of Dynamo Kyiv, I can’t help but feel a sense of pessimism as I look at the remaining matches of our beloved team in the Europa League. Despite our strong start in the competition, recent performances have left much to be desired. The upcoming fixtures against tough opponents will undoubtedly test the resilience and determination of our players. With injuries plaguing the squad and inconsistent form on the field, it’s hard not to worry about our chances of advancing in the tournament.
However, as true supporters, we must continue to stand by our team through thick and thin. We know that anything is possible in football, and perhaps this adversity will only serve to fuel the fire within our players.
Let’s rally behind Dynamo Kyiv and show our unwavering support as they face the challenges ahead. Together, we can overcome the odds and prove that our team is capable of achieving great things in the Europa League. Go Dynamo! #DynamoKyiv #EuropaLeague #NeverGiveUp

Relatives of freed Gaza hostages call for release of remaining captives
The relatives of the three Israeli hostages released from Gaza by Palestinian militants Hamas called on Monday for all those remaining in the territory to be freed.
Speaking at a press conference at the Sheba hospital where the three women are being treated, they gave no details on the conditions in which their relatives had been held for 471 days or on their health.
Romi Gonen, Emily Damari and Doron Steinbrecher were released on Sunday as part of the first round of exchanges that also saw around 90 Palestinian prisoners freed from Israeli jails.
Meirav Leshem Gonen, the mother of Romi Gonen, said: “We got our Romi back, but all families deserve the same outcome, both the living and the dead. Our hearts go out to the other families.”
“We are a people who desire peace but are ready for war when needed,” she added.
Yamit Ashkenazi meanwhile passed on a message from her sister Doron Steinbrecher.
“Everyone needs to return, until the last hostage comes home. Just as I was fortunate to return to my family, so must everyone else.”
Mandy Damari, the mother of British-Israeli Emily Damari, said her daughter was “in high spirits”.
She called for all the hostages to be released and for humanitarian aid that was going into the Gaza Strip to also go to the remaining captives.
Of the 251 hostages taken during Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, 91 remain in Gaza, including 34 the military has said are dead.
A further two hostages who are presumed alive have been held in Gaza since 2014 and 2015 respectively, as has the body of a soldier killed in the 2014 Gaza war. The three are also due to be released as part of the deal.
Before the press conference, the Israeli military released new footage of the moment the three freed hostages were reunited with their mothers at an Israeli military base.
In the footage, the three women are seen embracing their mothers tightly as they meet for the first time after their release.

Relatives of the recently freed Gaza hostages are calling for the immediate release of the remaining captives held in captivity. The families of those who have been reunited with their loved ones are urging all parties involved to work towards a resolution that will bring an end to the suffering of those still being held hostage. In a heartfelt plea, the relatives are highlighting the anguish and pain that comes with not knowing the fate of their family members. They are emphasizing the importance of compassion, empathy, and humanity in this situation, and are urging for a swift and peaceful resolution.
The families are also appealing to the international community to intervene and help facilitate the release of the remaining hostages. They are calling for solidarity and support from people all around the world to help bring an end to this ordeal.
As the world watches and waits for a resolution, the relatives of the freed Gaza hostages are standing together in unity and hope, praying for the safe return of their loved ones. They are urging for a swift and peaceful resolution to this crisis, and are calling on all parties involved to do everything in their power to bring the remaining captives home.

Ranking remaining playoff teams by Super Bowl odds
There are just a few weeks left in the NFL season before we determine a champion.
In a perfect world, the remaining eight teams would come into the divisional round of the playoffs with an equal 12.5% chance of winning the Super Bowl. But factor in experience, matchups, home-field advantage and injuries, among other things, and it’s clear some teams seem more likely to win it all than others … at least on paper.
That doesn’t mean that upsets can’t occur along the way, though. Wild card weekend didn’t pack many huge shocks into the outcomes – though perhaps some minor surprises – suggesting that the divisional round might topple some of the league’s best. One way or another, we’ll cut the field by four more this week, so now is the time to strike if you’re feeling confident in any of the eight finalists.
Whether it’s a long shot or a favorite, today’s price won’t be tomorrow’s. Ranking the remaining NFL playoff teams by Super Bowl odds – from worst to best – heading into the divisional round.

NFL playoff power rankings: Super Bowl odds
Here’s how all eight NFL playoff teams rank by BetMGM‘s Super Bowl odds:
8. Houston Texans (+5000)
(Last week: T-14th, +10000)
Based on odds, the Texans are the biggest long shots to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in February. In reality, that is probably a fair assessment. Injuries have really taken a toll on Houston’s roster, and C.J. Stroud’s apparent regression isn’t helping either. Both factor into a Texans team that doesn’t put a lot of fear into opponents. Plus, they would have to go through the Chiefs and either the Bills or Ravens just to make the Super Bowl.
7. Washington Commanders (+3000)
(Last week: T-ninth +3500)
The Commanders have been a fun story all season long but are now tasked with knocking off arguably the league’s best team in the next round. Quarterback Jayden Daniels starred in the wild-card round as Washington continued its magical season. History isn’t on the side of the Commanders, however. A rookie quarterback has never started or won a Super Bowl, meaning Daniels would be in a league of his own. But, the Commanders can score at will and, while they’re clear underdogs, are certainly capable of shocking the NFL world again.
BETTING BONUS:Here are the top sportsbook promo codes and bonuses right now
6. Los Angeles Rams (+1800)
(Last week: T-ninth, +3500)
Written off after their game was moved from Los Angeles in the wake of the devastating wildfires, the Rams came out with a dominating victory over the Minnesota Vikings to advance. They’ll head to Philadelphia, but don’t underestimate this group going forward. The Eagles are a tough out, but the Rams have plenty of star power on offense and an improving defense to compete with the Birds and their struggling offense. It also helps that they have one of the best coaches in Sean McVay, making L.A. a dark horse Super Bowl contender in the NFC.
5. Buffalo Bills (+550)
(Last week: T-third, +550)
The MVP frontrunners, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, meet in the divisional round in what is the best game of the weekend. Baltimore smacked Buffalo 35-10 earlier in the season, however the Bills have the home-field advantage this time around. Allen is staring down a potential rematch with the Chiefs but has to likely get through two MVP quarterbacks for a chance to win the franchise’s first Super Bowl.
4. Baltimore Ravens (+450)
(Last week: T-third, +600)
Baltimore had the benefit of essentially getting a bye week in the wild-card round. The Ravens dominated the Steelers in the first half and were able to be on cruise control the rest of the way. After already beating the Bills once this season, the Ravens are one of the hottest teams in the league and project as a major threat to capturing the AFC crown from Kansas City.
3. Philadelphia Eagles (+400)
(Last week: Fifth, +700)
Saquon Barkley is the engine that powers this Eagles offense, but the concern going forward centers around the supporting cast. Philly was lucky to face a Green Bay Packers team that was far from a threat on offense, masking the Eagles’ own offensive woes. Jalen Hurts doesn’t appear to be the same, dangerous player this year, especially as a passer. They’re among the favorites because of talent but are more vulnerable than it would seem.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (+350)
(Last week: Second, +350)
In a not-so-shocking turn of events, the AFC favorites still reside in Kansas City. They get the Texans in the divisional round, while the Bills and Ravens battle in what projects to be a more competitive matchup. Kansas City arguably has the easiest remaining road to a Lombardi Trophy, and that’s reflected in their betting odds. While they’ve seemed more beatable than usual this year, the Chiefs still find ways to get the job done. As they look for their third-straight Super Bowl, Kansas City remains right near the top of the odds.
1. Detroit Lions (+280)
(Last week: First, +275)
The best team in the NFL this year, the Lions have cruised all season long. Their offense can score at will, and the defense has overcome countless injuries en route to the NFC’s top seed. They’ve felt like a team of destiny all year. Injuries might be the only thing that can slow down this juggernaut, but Dan Campbell’s team is rightfully atop the rankings.

As we head into the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, let’s take a look at the remaining teams and rank them based on their Super Bowl odds. Here’s how the teams stack up:1. Kansas City Chiefs – The defending champions are led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and have one of the most explosive offenses in the league. They are the favorites to win it all again this year.
2. Green Bay Packers – Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is playing at an MVP level and the Packers have a balanced offense and a solid defense. They have a good shot at making a deep playoff run.
3. Buffalo Bills – The Bills have one of the hottest offenses in the league, led by quarterback Josh Allen. Their defense has also been playing well in recent weeks. They are a strong contender to reach the Super Bowl.
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Led by quarterback Tom Brady, the Buccaneers have a talented roster and a potent passing attack. Their defense has also been solid this season. They are a dark horse to win it all.
5. New Orleans Saints – The Saints have a strong defense and a balanced offense, but quarterback Drew Brees has been dealing with injuries. If he can stay healthy, the Saints could make a deep playoff run.
6. Baltimore Ravens – The Ravens have a dynamic running game led by quarterback Lamar Jackson, but their passing attack has been inconsistent. Their defense is solid, but they will need to improve in order to make a deep playoff run.
7. Los Angeles Rams – The Rams have a strong defense led by star defensive tackle Aaron Donald, but their offense has been inconsistent. Quarterback Jared Goff will need to step up for the Rams to have a chance at winning the Super Bowl.
8. Cleveland Browns – The Browns have a strong running game led by Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, but their passing attack is average. Their defense has been solid, but they will need to play at a high level to compete with the other teams in the playoffs.

Jayden Daniels contract details: Salary and years remaining with the Commanders
Jayden Daniels is having an impressive season at the helm of the Commanders’ offense. The QB has thrown 25 TDs for a CMP of 69 percent and a QBR of 70.5 and, more importantly, the Commanders have a 12 – 5 record in 2024.
He will have to prove himself again against a tough Lions defense on Saturday, but all of the pressure is on the home team in Detroit, who are big favorites to win.
How much money does Jayden Daniels make?
Daniels was the number two overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. He signed a fully guaranteed four-year contract worth $37.8 million. The deal includes a signing bonus of $24.3 million.
Here’s a detailed look at the breakdown of Daniels’ salary and bonuses:
2024: Base salary of $795,000, with an additional prorated portion of the signing bonus, bringing his total to about $6.9 million.
2025: Base salary increases to $960,000, along with a roster bonus of $2.5 million, pushing his total to $8.6 million.
2026: Salary and bonuses bring his total to approximately $10.3 million.
2027: His final year sees his total rise to $12 million, with a base salary of $1.2 million plus his prorated signing bonus and a $4.75 million roster bonus.
The Commanders also hold a fifth-year option, allowing them to extend his rookie contract through 2028 if desired. This option is standard for first-round picks and offers flexibility, especially if Daniels performs well early on.
Given the trend of escalating quarterback salaries, Daniels may be eligible for an extension after three seasons, potentially locking in a lucrative, long-term deal if he proves himself as a franchise quarterback. Tonight certainly won’t have hurt his chances.
Jayden Daniels Contract Details: Salary and Years Remaining with the CommandersAfter being selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders, quarterback Jayden Daniels signed a four-year rookie contract worth $5.4 million. The contract includes a signing bonus of $1.2 million and is fully guaranteed.
Daniels will earn an average annual salary of $1.35 million over the course of his rookie deal. He is set to make $1.2 million in his first year, with slight increases in salary each subsequent year.
As of now, Daniels has three years remaining on his contract with the Commanders. The team has the option to exercise a fifth-year option on his contract before the start of his fourth season.
With Daniels under contract for the foreseeable future, the Commanders are hopeful that the young quarterback will develop into a franchise player and lead the team to success in the years to come. Stay tuned for updates on Daniels’ performance and contract negotiations as his career progresses in Washington.

A Palestinian Authority (PA) official reportedly predicted that President-elect Donald Trump will “destroy Iran” and that Tehran’s weakening will effectively break down the remaining Hamas terror cells.
Mohammad Hamdan, secretary-general of the PA’s ruling Fatah Party, reportedly made the comments to the New York Post on Dec. 19 during a meeting between the outlet and other top PA leaders in Nablus, about an hour south of the West Bank city of Jenin, where Western-backed PA forces have launched security operations against armed extremists aligned with Hamas this month.
The Post first reported the conversation on Monday.
“We are confronting Hamas’ ideology. Our problem is with Hamas’ link to regimes outside Palestine,” Hamdan told the Post, referencing Iran specifically.
Israeli Spy Network Uncovers Hezbollah Commander’s Plans To Marry His 4 Mistresses
Palestinian security forces stand on guard during the funeral of Ibrahim Qaddoumi, a member of the Palestinian Authority who was killed during armed clashes between Palestinian security forces and gunmen in the Jenin refugee camp, on Dec. 27, 2024 in Nablus, West Bank.
“We see that Trump and the ruling government in Israel are planning to destroy Iran, so Hamas [followers] will have no other choice than to become Palestinian,” he added.
A group of more than a dozen extremists stole two PA vehicles and paraded them down the streets of Jenin while waving Hamas and ISIS flags on Dec. 6, according to the Post.
Since then, PA forces have killed at least three extremists in the West Bank town and have vowed to arrest or “eliminate” the remaining people responsible.
Fatah suffered a major defeat in the 2006 election, resulting in rival Hamas seizing control of the Gaza Strip, hardening Islamic-extremist rule and launching repeated attacks on Israel.
The tipping point came when Hamas terrorists launched their coordinated attack on southern Israel from Gaza on Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 1,200 people and taking more than 250 hostages.
As Israel has decimated Hamas in the Gaza Strip since then, the PA, which is backed by the U.S. and other Western governments, appears to be positioning itself to resume governance of Gaza once the war ends.
“Hamas rejects international legitimacy, meaning UN resolutions,” Hamdan said. “The world cannot accept a situation where a party does not accept international resolutions.”
Hamas and other Islamic extremist groups have sown distrust of the PA, accusing it of coordinating closely with Israel on past security raids on Jenin.
The Jewish state in the past has cracked down on Jenin, which has long been considered a terrorist stronghold. The PA security forces had until recently little presence there until its new security operations this month.
A large banner depicting Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas hangs as supporters of the Fatah movement rally ahead of the 60th anniversary of its establishment and in support of the Palestinian Authority’s security operation in the Jenin camp for Palestinian refugees on Dec. 29, 2024.
Israeli Official Reveals How ‘To Truly Defeat Hezbollah’
At least three PA security force members have been killed, including a captain in the intelligence services, during armed clashes with extremists, The Associated Press reported. The PA has arrested dozens of people.
The Post said the PA leaders they interviewed condemned Israel’s increased settlements in the West Bank but said they supported the Jewish state’s right to exist.
Hamdan also reportedly told the Post that PA President Mahmoud Abbas – who slammed Israel and the United States before the United Nations General Assembly earlier this year – “still supports realistic relations with the Americans in order to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinians.” However, the secretary-general also argued that failed U.S. foreign policy in the Middle East was responsible for growing Islamic extremism.
Palestinian security forces march with the body of Ibrahim Qaddoumi, a Palestinian Authority member killed during armed clashes between Palestinian security forces and gunmen in the Jenin refugee camp, on Dec. 27, 2024 in Nablus, West Bank.
“Look what happened in Syria. First, the U.S. declared the rebels to be al Qaeda, and then [last week] an American delegation visited Syria,” Hamdan told the Post. “And the one before that, when the Americans struck deals with the Taliban in Afghanistan. We as Palestinians believe that most of these extremist Islamic groups are produced by America by its effort to create a new Middle East.”
On the issue of post-war Gaza governance, one Israeli official told the Post that the PA remained an option but would need to stop “the corruption” and “funding terrorism” on Israeli settlers in the West bank.
The official acknowledged though that the PA could have “a historically unprecedented opportunity” to return to its control of the Palestinian territories.
The PA’s opposition to Hamas could provide unique leverage to “participate in day-after talks,” the Israeli official added.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.
