  • Wings star Satou Sabally traded to Mercury in 3-team deal: Report

The Phoenix Mercury made another splash Friday with the acquisition of Dallas Wings star Satou Sabally.

Sabally was moved in a three-team trade also involving the Indiana Fever after informing the Wings she wanted to leave the team despite having a core designation, per ESPN’s Alexa Philippou. The full trade, as reported:

    • Mercury receive Satou Sabally, Kalani Brown, Sevgi Uzun

    • Wings receive Tyasha Harris, NaLyssa Smith, rights to Mikiah Herbert Harrigan, No. 8 pick in 2025 WNBA Draft

    • Fever receive Sophie Cunningham, No. 19 pick in 2025 WNBA Draft

Sabally publicly signaled her intention to leave the Wings earlier this month despite being cored. The former No. 2 overall draft pick has played all five seasons of her WNBA career in Dallas, earning two All-Star nods and the Most Improved Player award in 2023.

Now, Sabally heads from a Wings team that went 9-31 last season to a revamped Mercury team. It’s been a transformative offseason for the Mercury, who landed five-time All-Star Alyssa Thomas and lost 10-time All-Star Britney Griner in free agency Tuesday. The team is also facing the possible retirement of Diana Taurasi.

That could leave the Mercury with a new big three of Thomas, Sabally and Kahleah Copper, none of whom was on the team at the end of 2023. The Sabally trade also gives the Mercury a potential replacement for Griner in the 6-foot-7 Brown.

The WNBA world was rocked today as reports surfaced that Wings star Satou Sabally has been traded to the Phoenix Mercury in a three-team deal. Sabally, who was the number two overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft, has quickly become one of the league’s most exciting young talents.

The details of the trade are still emerging, but it is believed that the Mercury will be sending a package of players and draft picks to the Wings in exchange for Sabally. The Wings, in turn, will be receiving players from a third team involved in the deal.

Sabally, a versatile forward who can score from anywhere on the court, will undoubtedly be a huge addition to the Mercury’s roster. With her size, skill, and athleticism, she has the potential to be a game-changer for Phoenix as they look to make a deep playoff run.

Fans of both the Wings and the Mercury will be eagerly waiting for official confirmation of the trade and more details on the players involved. Stay tuned for updates as this story develops.

  • Punxsutawney Phil’s Groundhog Day weather report in Pennsylvania

Don’t put away those snow shovels just yet!

The world-famous prognosticating groundhog Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow when he emerged from his den in western Pennsylvania early Sunday, meaning six more weeks of winter, according to the beloved and age-old 132-year-old folklore.

If Pennsylvania’s fluffy meteorologist hadn’t seen his shadow, it could have meant Spring was near.

Phil previously predicted an early spring last year in 2024, as pictured here. AP
Groundhog Club handler A.J. Dereume holds Punxsutawney Phil during the 138th celebration of Groundhog Day in Punxsutawney, Pa. on Feb. 2, 2024. AP

Sunday marked Phil’s first Groundhog Day as a father.

In March 2024, Phil and his groundhog wife Phyliss gave birth to two healthy babies, who were later named Sunny and Shadow.

Before Phil was woken up, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro taunted PETA’s petition to replace the beloved groundhog with a ‘weather reveal’ vegan cake.

The animal rights organization sent a letter to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club offering the vegan treat in exchange for Phil and his family to retire to a “reputable sanctuary.”

“Some folks out there who say we should take this great tradition and get rid of Phil and replace him with a cake, that’s their crazy idea,” Shapiro said Sunday. “Hear me on this Punxsawtawney, if anybody comes for Phil, they’re gonna have to come through me and all of you am I right.”

While the tradition attracts over 40,000 people to the small town of Gobbler’s Knob each year, the weather-predicting groundhog hasn’t been as accurate as the legend expects him to be.

The furry prognosticator has only accurately predicted the change in seasons about 35% of the time over the past 20 years, according to an NOAA study.

The annual ritual dates back to 1887, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club

It originates in the Feb. 2 holiday of Candlemas in Europe, where Christians would take candles to a church to have them blessed.

A popular English folk song declared that winter would have “another flight” if conditions on Candlemas were fair and bright.

The song’s interpretation of the holiday became accepted throughout most of Europe until it reached Germany, where a hedgehog became part of the tradition. If the animal saw its shadow on Candlemas, a “second winter” was expected.

The Punxsutawney Groundhog Club says the tradition began in 1887. AP

“As German settlers came to what is now the United States, so too came their traditions and folklore,” Punxsutawney organizers said on its website.

“With the absence of hedgehogs in the United States, a similar hibernating animal was chosen.”

A mention of Groundhog Day first appeared in a local Punxsutawney newspaper in 1886, and the following year marked the first official event at Gobbler’s Knob, organizers said.

But while Punxsutawney Phil is the most famous, he’s not the only groundhog foretelling the year’s weather forecast.

New York’s own Staten Island Chuck is the most reliable and has accurately predicted the arrival of spring 85% of the time over the last 20 years, according to NOAA.

Georgia’s General Beauregard Lee is another contender for the cutest meteorologist, who has been right with an impressive 80% over the last two decades.

As for Phil, he is not even in the top 10, ranking 17th place.

Attention, residents of Pennsylvania! Punxsutawney Phil has emerged from his burrow on this Groundhog Day to deliver his highly anticipated weather report. According to the famous groundhog, he did not see his shadow, which means we can expect an early spring this year.

So put away those winter coats and break out the sunglasses, because Phil has spoken! Let’s hope his prediction holds true and we can enjoy warmer weather sooner rather than later. Happy Groundhog Day, everyone! #PunxsutawneyPhil #GroundhogDay #EarlySpring

  • Preview: Arsenal v Man City | Pre-Match Report | News

The big games just keep coming as we once again put the only unbeaten home record in the Premier League on the line against Manchester City on Sunday (4.30pm UK).

Having battled hard with Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side for the past couple of seasons, we find ourselves six points ahead of them and with the upper hand in the recent meetings, having remained unbeaten in our last four clashes.

That form will have to be maintained if we’re to keep up our title push, especially now City’s winter of woe seems to have thawed. They’ve registered some important wins to return to something like the force they have been for the past few seasons, so it seems that once again, this fixture could have a huge say in the destiny of the Premier League title.

    City’s confidence returning?

Having been unbeaten in their first nine league games, City were looking odds-on to win a fifth league title in a row, but suddenly their form and confidence plummeted. Cup defeats to Tottenham and Sporting Lisbon were then followed by league losses to Bournemouth, Brighton and Spurs again, this time by a 4-0 scoreline to condemn Pep Guardiola to five straight losses for the first time in his glittering managerial career.

A 3-0 lead against Feyenoord was then squandered before a loss against Liverpool followed, and despite beating Nottingham Forest, they were beaten by Juventus and endured two draws and two defeats over Christmas, incredibly leaving them with one win from 13 matches.

But things have begun to return to normal. They’re now unbeaten in six Premier League games, and only Newcastle have won more points since Christmas than City’s 14. A 4-2 loss to Paris Saint-Germain last week left their hopes of remaining in the Champions League on the brink, but after a 3-1 home win against Chelsea they overcame Club Brugge by the same scoreline on Wednesday to set up a play-off clash against Real Madrid.

    What the managers say

Arteta: “[A win] would be a big boost for us. Winning big matches is always something special. Every time we play a big match against one of our big rivals it brings something extra – the confidence, the emotion, the fact that they are there and continue to win – for that we want to achieve.

“The business is to be better than them. That’s it. The only thing I review is what happened during that match, how competitive it gets is normal when two big teams want to win the game. Nothing else from that side.”

Guardiola: “We started [this run of games] in Paris, then afterwards Chelsea, so we are already there in terms of difficult games. The schedule is what it is.

“It always happens in the Premier League, always they put the toughest [fixtures] – always they are so kind with the calendar. For many years it happens that way. We had amazing success dealing with this calendar. It’s always been like that, we accept it, I’m not complaining because we won the treble.”

    Team news

David Raya missed the midweek Champions League win in Girona with a muscular injury with Neto deputising, and the Brazilian is on standby again if our number one isn’t available, but one player who is is Myles Lewis-Skelly after his red card against Wolves was rescinded.

England duo Ben White and Bukayo Saka remain out after knee and hamstring surgery, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and former City man Gabriel Jesus are also missing with their own knee injuries.

Rodri’s ACL injury picked up in the reverse fixture has hampered City all season but he could be back before the end of the season. Ruben Dias, Jeremy Doku and Nathan Ake have sat out recent games and Guardiola admitted they won’t be fit in time for this game.

Oscar Bobb is back in training following a leg fracture, while January arrivals Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis can all feature again after being ineligible in the Champions League. Kyle Walker joined AC Milan on loan earlier this week.

    Talking tactics

Adrian Clarke, writing in the official matchday programme: City have shifted between a 4-1-4-1 and a 4-2-3-1, with the use of Kevin de Bruyne crucial to which set-up Guardiola prefers. If he is leaning towards a possession-based attacking approach, the Belgian will usually play as a No. 10 but if not, he becomes a box-to-box midfielder in a gameplan more suited to breaking at speed on fast transitions.

Averaging a league-high 61% of possession, City want to monopolise the ball. Bypassing our press by going long to Erling Haaland is an obvious ploy if he is left 1v1 with a marker, but roving left-back Josko Gvardiol also likes to make dangerous runs beyond the defensive line. He can be expertly picked out by keeper Ederson, or a central defender.

City have had more shots than any other team, and have netted a division-high nine times from outside the box. Egyptian star Omar Marmoush has been added to their ranks this month who scored 15 goals in 17 starts for Eintracht Frankfurt prior to the move, so his finishing prowess has to be respected.

However Rodri’s absence means City have also been more susceptible to counter-attacks through the middle, and only three Premier League sides have faced more shots from fast break, and their unusually porous defending has limited them to just five clean sheets in 23 matches.

    Facts and stats

We are unbeaten in 13 Premier League matches and have won the most points of any side from MD11 onwards (29). We have never had a longer unbeaten run under Mikel Arteta, last going 14 without defeat between August and December 2018.

City have lost just one of their last 40 league matches played from January until the end of the season (W33 D6). They are unbeaten in their last 23 of these games across the last two campaigns.

We have scored the most goals via set pieces (12, excl. pens) in the Premier League this season, while City have conceded the joint-fewest of these goals (2, level with Brentford). One of those though was Gabriel’s goal in the 2-2 draw in September, and five of the last 10 goals we have netted against City have come via corners.

39.6% of the minutes played by Manchester City players in the Premier League this season
have been given to players aged 30 or older.

Phil Foden has scored in four consecutive Premier League games for the very first time, while he’s scored more Premier League goals so far in 2025 than any other player (6).

Kevin De Bruyne has 12 goal involvements in 14 Premier League starts against us, while his eight goals are more than he’s managed against any other side in the competition.

City are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games in London, since their loss at Emirates Stadium in October 2023.

Manchester City have won more points from losing positions than any other side in the Premier League this season (17), with five of their 12 wins coming after conceding the first goal.

    Match officials

Peter Bankes will be the man in the middle, the third time he’s been handed one of our games this term following our New Year’s Day win at Brentford, and the League Cup success at Preston North End. We’ve lost just twice in 10 games under his watch, which both came at Southampton in 2021 and 2022.

He’s handled two Manchester City matches this season, the last of which saw them lose 2-1 to Aston Villa in December. While he has never booked more than two players or awarded a penalty in any Gunners game, he has pointed to the spot five times in 14 Premier League games this term.

    Fourth official: Anthony Taylor

    Recent visits from City

Last season saw us end a 12-game losing streak home and away against City courtesy of a 1-0 win in October 2023, sealed by an 86th-minute strike by Gabriel Martinelli. That means we could win consecutive home league games against City for the first time since 2009.

The previous February saw City leapfrog us at the top of the table courtesy of a 3-1 victory, with Kevin De Bruyne opening the scoring before Saka levelled from the penalty spot. However second-half strikes from Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland won the game.

Guardiola’s team had previously pitched up in N5 on New Year’s Day 2022, when a last-minute Rodri goal snatched victory for the visitors. Saka had given us the lead, but a Riyad Mahrez penalty and a red card for Gabriel changed the game.

  • OnlyFans star Anna Polly plunges to death from hotel balcony while filming threesome: report

An OnlyFans porn star fell to her death while filming a threesome sex scene on a hotel balcony in Brazil, according to a report.

Anna Beatrix Pereira Alves — known as “Anna Polly” — was found dead on the ground-floor courtyard at the four-star Mont Blanc Apart Hotel in Nova Iguacu on Jan. 23 after an intense lovemaking scene reportedly sent the Brazilian bombshell head-over-heels off a balcony, according to the US Sun.

Anna Pereira Alves, a successful OnlyFans star, fell to her death from a hotel balcony while filming a threesome. NX

Images from the scene show an investigator standing over the white sheet-covered body of the once-vivacious pin-up girl.

At the time of the tragic incident, the 27-year-old is believed to have been in the middle of video-recording sexcapades involving two men — who gave conflicting testimony to investigators, the outlet reported.

Photos from the scene show investigators covering the body of the OnlyFans model known as “Anna Polly.” Newsflash/NX

The two OnlyFans co-stars were released by local police after questioning — though foul play has not yet been ruled out by investigators from the Baixada Fluminese Homicide Unit, according to the report.

Alves’ boyfriend, Pedro Henrique, who was not involved in his girlfriend’s final fondling, expressed his grief on social media — and his hope that investigators will get to the bottom of the starlet’s death.

“As the hours pass it’s starting to sink in and the hole in my heart is only getting bigger,” Henrique said on social media, according to the US Sun.

Alves’ death is being investigated with local police not ruling out the possibility of foul play. NX

“If someone is to blame, they will pay and the culprit will be found,” the grieving beau added.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death and investigators are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident as part of their investigation, the US Sun reported.

“It’s a complex case, and we don’t rule out any possibility, from an accident to a possible crime,” a spokesperson for the Biaxada Fluminense Homicide Unit said.

This is a tragic and shocking news that has recently surfaced in the media. OnlyFans star Anna Polly, known for her explicit content on the popular subscription-based platform, reportedly plunged to her death from a hotel balcony while filming a threesome.

According to reports, the incident occurred during a private gathering at a luxury hotel where Polly was filming adult content with two other individuals. Witnesses have stated that Polly lost her balance and fell from the balcony, resulting in a fatal fall.

The news of Polly’s death has sent shockwaves through the online community, with many fans and fellow content creators expressing their sadness and disbelief. It serves as a reminder of the dangers and risks associated with the adult entertainment industry, especially when filming explicit content in potentially dangerous locations.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to Anna Polly’s family, friends, and fans during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace.

  • XRP News Today Ripple Report Highlights ETF Momentum Builds; BTC at $102k

Market optimism about the SEC potentially withdrawing its appeal against the Programmatic Sales of XRP ruling fueled XRP demand. US President Trump’s nomination of former SEC Commissioner Paul Atkins as the next SEC Chair added to the momentum. Former SEC officials and legal experts believe Atkins will reverse course on the agency’s crypto enforcement stance.

However, XRP dropped back from its December 2024 high of $3.3999 as investors await confirmation on the Ripple case. Some market participants believe acting Chair Mark Uyeda may delay a decision until Paul Atkins takes office.

Policy shift – US shifts toward regulatory clarity & banking access for crypto.

In a significant regulatory shift, the SEC rescinded Staff Accounting Bulletin (SAB) 121, opening the door for banks to offer crypto-related services, including custody. SAB 121 required companies, including banks, to hold crypto assets on their balance sheets even if they held the cryptos under customer custody. The regulation made it expensive for banks to hold crypto under custody for clients, limiting crypto services and BTC demand.

Meanwhile, in January, US President Trump signed executive orders (EO) to foster innovation in the US digital asset space.

Institutional momentum – 5 issuers filed for a spot XRP-ETF.

In today’s XRP news, Ripple’s latest report highlights the momentum building for ETFs, while Bitcoin reaches an all-time high of $102,000.

The report from Ripple showcases the increasing interest and investment in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) focused on cryptocurrencies, particularly XRP. This surge in ETF popularity is seen as a positive sign for the overall market and could potentially lead to more widespread adoption of digital assets.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin continues its upward trajectory, hitting a new milestone of $102,000. The leading cryptocurrency has been on a bullish run in recent weeks, fueled by growing institutional interest and positive market sentiment.

  • Will Chet Holmgren play tonight against the Dallas Mavericks? Latest update on the OKC Thunder star’s injury report | NBA News

Will Chet Holmgren play tonight against the Dallas Mavericks? Latest update on the OKC Thunder star's injury report (January 23, 2025)
Is Chet playing tonight? (Image via Getty)

Oklahoma City Thunder’s rising star Chet Holmgren is set to miss time due to a hip injury, according to the team’s latest injury report. As the Thunder prepare to take on the Dallas Mavericks on January 23, Holmgren’s absence adds to the list of key players sidelined. The 7-foot center, known for his shot-blocking ability and versatility, will be out indefinitely as he recovers.
Chet Holmgren’s injury comes at a crucial point in the season, with the Oklahoma City Thunder holding an impressive 36-7 record. Despite their success, missing a key contributor like Holmgren could pose challenges in maintaining their dominance, especially on the defensive end. Oklahoma City currently leads the NBA in defensive efficiency, allowing just 103.9 points per game. Holmgren has played a pivotal role in anchoring their defense, and his absence could be felt in upcoming matchups.

In the last 20 games, Chet Holmgren has been a consistent presence for the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 9.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. His rim protection has also been a major asset, contributing one block per contest. With Holmgren sidelined, the Thunder will have to rely more on their depth, including players like Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein, who is also currently out with a calf injury.
Chet Holmgren’s injury isn’t the only concern for Oklahoma City. The team is also without Nikola Topic, who is out for the season with an ACL injury, and Ajay Mitchell, who is dealing with a toe issue. This string of injuries puts additional pressure on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has been the Oklahoma City Thunder’s standout performer, leading the NBA in scoring with 33 points per game.
As Oklahoma City looks ahead, the team will need to adjust its game plan to compensate for Chet Holmgren’s absence. The Thunder are known for their strong defensive schemes and efficient scoring, but losing a key shot-blocker could impact their ability to control the paint. Fans will be eager for updates on Holmgren’s recovery, hoping for his return before the playoffs.

Unfortunately, it looks like Chet Holmgren will not be suiting up tonight against the Dallas Mavericks. The latest update on the OKC Thunder star’s injury report indicates that he is still dealing with a nagging ankle injury and will be sitting out tonight’s game. Fans will have to wait a little longer to see the promising rookie back in action. • Lakers Injury Report: Jarred Vanderbilt, Gabe Vincent out vs. Sixers

If the Lakers are going to extend their winning streak to five games, they’ll have to do so without Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent, who have both been ruled out for Tuesday’s game versus the Sixers.

This is the second straight game Vincent has missed. Lakers head coach JJ Redick revealed before Monday’s matchup versus the Hornets that Vincent banged his knees during Saturday’s Warriors game, which has caused him to miss both back-to-back games during this road trip.

The injury is officially listed as left knee soreness.

For Vanderbilt, being ruled out seems to be about managing his recovery and not pushing himself too fast too soon. Vando is on a minutes restriction and has returned for two games and has been very good in both outings.

He made good defensive plays in each win and didn’t look like he was limited in any capacity, which is good news for the Lakers.

An abundance of caution is needed with the wing and it is logical and understandable to have him miss a game during a back-to-back while he continues to ramp up.

A positive for the Lakers on the injury front is that they will likely have Rui Hachimura back. The Lakers forward has missed two games with left calf soreness but has been upgraded to probable heading into Tuesday’s game.

The Sixers will also be short-handed on Tuesday. They will be without Paul George and Joel Embiid, as Embiid has practiced but is still unavailable. PG injured his pinky on Saturday in a win versus Chicago and is still out.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without Jarred Vanderbilt and Gabe Vincent for their upcoming game against the Philadelphia 76ers. Both players are dealing with injuries that will keep them sidelined for this matchup.

Vanderbilt, who has been dealing with a knee injury, will miss his second consecutive game. The athletic forward has been a key contributor off the bench for the Lakers this season, providing energy and hustle on both ends of the court.

Vincent, on the other hand, has been sidelined with an ankle injury. The guard has been a reliable shooter and ball-handler for the Lakers, and his absence will be felt on the offensive end.

Despite these injuries, the Lakers will look to rally together and put forth a strong effort against the Sixers. Stay tuned for updates on their status as they continue to recover and rehab their respective injuries.

  • South Carolina vs. Texas A&M: Three things to watch for, scouting the opponent and injury report

South Carolina basketball is set to face its eighth ranked opponent of the year, and it is still looking for its first conference win. After a quick road trip to Athens, the Gamecocks are back in Columbia for a home game.

The Gamecocks (10-11, 0-8 SEC) will face No. 13 Texas A&M at Colonial Life Arena on Saturday night. Tip-off is at 8:30 p.m. on SEC Network.

Here are three things to watch for, an opponent scouting report on the Aggies, plus the latest injury report.

Getting on the boards and getting on the board

Rebounding is a strength for Texas A&M, as they are third in the SEC with an average of 42.0 RPG. The Gamecocks aren’t bad, at a 36.0 RPG clip, but that’s closer to 16th in the SEC than it is to the Aggies’ mark. The Aggies crash the offensive glass in particular. Their mark of 16.7 offensive rebounds is tops in the nation, and they have three players averaging over 2.5 offensive rebounds per game.

Collin Murray-Boyles and Nick Pringle both have a defensive rebounding percentage over 20.0%, which bodes well for a potential negation of the Aggies’ rebounding prowess. That is, if they can stay out of foul trouble. Texas A&M is one of just three SEC teams attempting more free throws per game than South Carolina.

Getting off to a quick start is paramount. In all three of South Carolina’s wins over Power Five competition, the Gamecocks had a 10-point lead at some point in the first half (Fun fact: South Carolina has more ACC wins than NC State, Boston College, and Miami).

Home field advantage could play a factor in the end result

Despite an 0-8 record in SEC games, the Gamecocks have been competitive at Colonial Life Arena. In their past three SEC home games, they’ve been outscored by just nine total points. All three of those close losses happened to come against ranked teams, as well.

Entering Friday night, the Gamecocks are listed as just +5.5 point underdogs. Despite a 1-5 road record, they are 8-5 at home this season. Additionally, several Gamecocks are more efficient at home than on the road.

Murray-Boyles’s turnover percentage drops from 29.4% on the road to 13.4% at Colonial Life. Jacobi Wright’s 3PT% rises from 25.0% to 37.0%. Zachary Davis’s steal percentage almost doubles from road games (1.5%) to home games (2.9%). Morris Ugusuk is an exception, with a TS% of 76.1% on the road and 44.0% at home. Here’s to hoping he scores 25 points at Rupp against Kentucky.

In front of a crowd likely eager to see the Gamecocks record victory numero uno against the Aggies, South Carolina could use a friendly environment to its advantage.

Keeping control of the ball is a must

South Carolina basketball’s Achilles heel, if an observer had to pick just one, has been turnovers. The Gamecocks offense has given away opportunities at a high rate ever since the close loss to Auburn. Despite a season-long average of 13.1 turnovers per game, South Carolina is averaging 18.6 per game in their past five contests. Is that bad? If it was extrapolated over the course of the season, it would rank dead last out of 364 D-I basketball teams.

South Carolina’s shooting clips over that span aren’t too far off from their season average. But because of the dearth of opportunities provided by volatile ball-handling, the Gamecocks aren’t getting the same number of shots off. After averaging 75.6 PPG in non-conference games, that mark is down to 62.8 PPG against SEC competition.

If this team can take care of the basketball, the offense has a chance to get into a rhythm and make shots. But if the turnover woes continue, there’s no way for the Gamecocks to achieve their offensive goals.

The highly anticipated matchup between South Carolina and Texas A&M is just around the corner, and fans are eagerly awaiting the showdown between these two powerhouse teams. As both teams gear up for battle, here are three key things to watch for in the upcoming game:

    1. Quarterback battle: South Carolina’s quarterback, Luke Doty, has been impressive so far this season, showcasing his dual-threat ability and playmaking skills. On the other side, Texas A&M’s quarterback, Zach Calzada, has also shown flashes of brilliance and has the potential to lead his team to victory. The matchup between these two signal-callers will be crucial in determining the outcome of the game.

    2. Defensive showdown: Both South Carolina and Texas A&M boast strong defensive units that have been able to shut down opposing offenses. The Gamecocks have been particularly stout against the run, while the Aggies have been effective at generating pressure on the quarterback. It will be interesting to see how these defenses match up against each other and which unit will come out on top.

    3. Special teams impact: Special teams can often be the X-factor in close games, and both South Carolina and Texas A&M have shown the ability to make game-changing plays on special teams. Whether it’s a big return, a clutch field goal, or a momentum-shifting blocked punt, special teams could play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the game.

    Scouting the opponent:

Texas A&M comes into this game with a strong 4-1 record, with their only loss coming against the top-ranked team in the country. The Aggies have a balanced offensive attack led by quarterback Zach Calzada and running back Isaiah Spiller, and their defense has been formidable, allowing just 19.4 points per game. South Carolina will need to be prepared for a physical, hard-fought battle against a talented Texas A&M team.

    Injury report:

South Carolina and Texas A&M have both been dealing with injuries throughout the season, and the status of key players will be a factor to watch leading up to the game. Both teams will need to have their depth tested and be ready to adjust if key players are unable to suit up. Keep an eye on the injury reports in the days leading up to the game to see who will be available for this crucial matchup.

Overall, the South Carolina vs. Texas A&M game promises to be an exciting and closely contested battle between two talented teams. Keep an eye on the quarterback battle, defensive showdown, and special teams impact, as well as the injury reports for both teams, to see how the game unfolds.

  • Anthony Edwards added to Timberwolves injury report with illness

There’s a bug making its way through the Minnesota Timberwolves locker room and it has apparently invaded Anthony Edwards’ immune system as he’s been added with a questionable status for Saturday’s game against the woeful Washington Wizards.

Edwards joins Mike Conley (sprained thumb) and Terrence Shannon Jr. (foot) on the injury report with questionable tags, while Julius Randle (groin strain) and Donte DiVincenzo (big toe sprain) are also ruled out for the game.

Before Minnesota’s game Wednesday night against the Phoenix Suns, both Rob Dillingham and Naz Reid played after being listed as questionable with an illness.

The Wizards have dropped 16 consecutive games for a second time this season and they have not won since beating the Bulls on New Year’s Day.

If Edwards and Conley are ruled out, the Timberwolves might be rolling with a starting lineup featuring Dillingham, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid and Rudy Gobert.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have announced that star rookie Anthony Edwards has been added to the team’s injury report due to an illness. This news comes as a blow to the Timberwolves, who are already dealing with injuries to key players such as Karl-Anthony Towns.

Edwards, the number one overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, has been a bright spot for the struggling Timberwolves this season. His scoring ability and athleticism have provided a spark for the team, and his absence will surely be felt on the court.

It is unclear how long Edwards will be out due to this illness, but the Timberwolves will need to find a way to adjust in his absence. With the team currently near the bottom of the Western Conference standings, every game is crucial as they look to turn their season around.

We wish Anthony Edwards a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the court soon. In the meantime, the Timberwolves will need to rally together and find a way to compete without one of their key players.
