• Chip Kelly reportedly returns to the NFL

Former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is returning to the NFL.

The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly hiring him to be their new offensive coordinator on Pete Carroll’s coaching staff, according to an ESPN report.

Kelly, 61, hasn’t been in the National Football League since going one-and-done with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016. Prior to that, he had mixed results as the Eagles’ head coach from 2013 to 2015. He started strong but faded fast as he pushed for more personnel control.

Kelly was the head coach at UCLA from 2018 through 2023 before being hired as Ohio State’s offensive coordinator in 2024. As a member of former Eagles quarterbacks coach Ryan Day’s coaching staff, Kelly recently helped lead the Buckeyes to a national championship title.

It’ll be interesting to see how Kelly fares in his return to the NFL. The league had clearly caught up to him before he returned to the college football ranks.

Kelly will return to Lincoln Financial Field for the first time since 2015 when the Raiders visit Philadelphia to play the Eagles in 2025.

After a brief stint in college football, Chip Kelly is reportedly making his return to the NFL. The former head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers is rumored to be in talks with multiple teams about potential coaching opportunities.

Kelly’s fast-paced, high-powered offensive style made him a hot commodity in the NFL when he first burst onto the scene with the Eagles in 2013. While his tenure in Philadelphia ended in disappointment, Kelly’s innovative approach to the game could be a valuable asset to a team looking to shake things up.

Stay tuned for more updates on Chip Kelly’s potential return to the NFL and which team he might end up coaching next. It’s sure to be an interesting development in the world of football.

  • Jimmy Butler trade to Warriors from Heat reportedly nixed amid unwillingness to sign extension in Golden State

Trade negotiations between the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat have come to a halt due to Jimmy Butler’s unwillingness to sign an extension with the Warriors, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. The news comes as Butler remains suspended indefinitely by the Heat after he expressed his desire to be traded in early January, followed by multiple incidents which Miami deemed detrimental to the team, including walking out of a shootaround.

The Warriors have been considered a possible suitor for Butler, who has a player option for the final year of his contract next season that would pay him $52 million. Because of his ability to decline the option and become a free agent, any team that surrenders assets in a trade would likely want some sort of assurance that Butler would be willing to extend for multiple years. Not only did Golden State fail to receive that assurance, they also reportedly were told the exact opposite and therefore shut down talks with the Heat.

There is a very important caveat at the end of Windhorst’s report, however: “for now.”

This could be an attempt by Butler to ensure that he goes to a destination of his choice — possibly the Phoenix Suns to play alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker. If he’s telling the Warriors, and maybe other teams, that he won’t re-sign with them after a trade, perhaps he believes he can force the hand of Pat Riley and the Heat to send him where he wants.

How will Heat’s Jimmy Butler saga end? The six possible outcomes after his indefinite suspension

    Sam Quinn

How will Heat's Jimmy Butler saga end? The six possible outcomes after his indefinite suspension

There are a couple of problems with that theory, though, and both involve Bradley Beal. To make the money work in a Butler deal to Phoenix (assuming they keep Durant and Booker), Beal would have to be in the trade. The problem is that Beal has a no-trade clause, and can simply say “no-go” on any deal the Suns and Heat might make.

Second, even if Beal is willing to waive the clause, Phoenix needs to find a taker for a player who was recently sent to the bench and is set to make over $50 million per season through 2027.

Beal has already said that he’s not interested in going to the Bulls, according to The Athletic, and Chris Haynes reported a while back that the Milwaukee Bucks have not had any discussions about taking Beal in a potential Butler trade.

Therefore, if Beal decides he doesn’t want to leave Phoenix or the Suns simply can’t find anyone to take him, Butler may have to reconsider his stance on the Warriors or risk an extended, awkward standoff with the Heat. No matter what happens, the days leading up to Thursday’s trade deadline are sure to be filled with even more rumors and posturing regarding a Butler trade.

According to recent reports, a potential trade that would have sent Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat to the Golden State Warriors has been nixed due to Butler’s unwillingness to sign an extension with the Warriors.

The trade talks between the two teams reportedly gained traction in recent weeks, with the Warriors looking to add a proven veteran like Butler to their roster. However, it seems that Butler is not interested in committing to a long-term deal with Golden State, which ultimately led to the collapse of the trade.

While the Warriors were eager to add a player of Butler’s caliber to their roster, it seems that Butler’s desire to explore other options in free agency has put a halt to any potential deal. It remains to be seen what the future holds for Butler and whether he will ultimately end up staying with the Heat or signing with another team in free agency.

Stay tuned for more updates on Jimmy Butler’s future in the NBA.

  • Rumored Boston Celtics trade target ask reportedly comes into focus

Rumbles that the Boston Celtics have an interest with a reunion with their 2016 No. 16 pick have begun to come into sharper focus, with the potential asking price for Philadelphia 76ers backup big man Guerschon Yabusele coming to light in a guest post by reporter Jake Fischer in a recent post from “The Stein Line”.

Per Fischer, the struggling Sixers “continues to generate interest from playoff teams, with Philadelphia weighing offers that feature multiple second round picks.” Boston, the New York Knicks, and Denver Nuggets have previously been reported among interested ball clubs, with Fischer adding the Minnesota Timberwolves to the mix in this report.

The Celtics, for their part, are more or less on par with the Knicks and T-Wolves regarding their moveable second round picks, with the Nuggets having none at all. But Denver does have young, tradeable talent that could also appeal to the 76ers — if the team is even open to moving the French forward.

This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Rumored Celtics trade target ask reportedly comes into focus

The Boston Celtics have been the subject of numerous trade rumors in recent weeks, with various players being mentioned as potential targets for the team. However, one name that has reportedly come into focus for the Celtics is that of Sacramento Kings guard Buddy Hield.

According to reports, the Celtics have expressed interest in acquiring Hield, who is known for his sharpshooting and scoring ability. The 28-year-old guard would provide the Celtics with some much-needed scoring punch and outside shooting, two areas where the team has struggled at times this season.

While no deal has been finalized yet, the rumors surrounding Hield and the Celtics continue to swirl as the NBA trade deadline approaches. It remains to be seen if the two teams will be able to come to an agreement on a potential trade, but Celtics fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on the situation in the coming days.

Stay tuned for more updates on the rumored Boston Celtics trade target as the situation continues to develop.

  • Chicago Cubs Reportedly Signing Infielder Nicky Lopez

When the Cubs let Luis Vazquez go last week, I wondered if they would try to replace him at Triple-A with a veteran defensive-first middle-infielder, just to have a little extra depth. Sure enough, they are: per Jon Heyman and Jesse Rogers, the Cubs are signing former White Sox infielder Nicky Lopez to a minor league deal.

Outside of one monster (BABIP-fueled) season, Lopez is a glove-only, plus-defensive depth type:

Lopez, 29, can play anywhere on the infield, and historically has been very good at all spots (outside of a very down year by DRS at shortstop last year). He is the type of guy you are very happy to have at Triple-A juuuuuuust in case, but who you probably don’t want to guarantee a bench job at this point.

I suspect Lopez will have a chance to win a bench job in Spring Training, mind you, and he may have an opt-out in his deal if he doesn’t win that job. Ideally, though, he starts the season at Iowa, and is there in case of a serious injury issue. He wouldn’t necessarily kill you as a starter if necessary, but his good defensive value wouldn’t entirely make up for the 20+% below-average bat. And on a team that has Dansby Swanson at shortstop and Nico Hoerner at second base, it’s not like you’d need to keep Lopez on the bench as a late-inning defensive replacement.

That is all to say, you can expect Lopez to just be a depth guy at this point. But he’ll be there in Spring Training, competing alongside Gage Workman, Vidal Brujan, and Jon Berti to be the primary guy at third base if/when Matt Shaw isn’t quite ready.

According to multiple sources, the Chicago Cubs are set to sign infielder Nicky Lopez to a contract. Lopez, who most recently played for the Kansas City Royals, is known for his strong defensive skills and contact hitting ability.

The addition of Lopez to the Cubs’ roster is expected to bolster their infield depth and provide a steady presence in the middle infield. With his versatility to play both second base and shortstop, Lopez could potentially fill in at multiple positions and provide valuable defensive support.

While the details of the contract have not been officially announced yet, Lopez’s signing is seen as a promising move for the Cubs as they look to strengthen their roster for the upcoming season.

Stay tuned for more updates as the deal is finalized and Lopez officially joins the Chicago Cubs organization.

  • Diddy Reportedly Rushed to Hospital While Awaiting Trial: Reports

Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been transported to a local hospital, according to multiple outlets.

Diddy, 55, had claimed his knee was bothering him, according to Sunday, February 2, reports from the Daily Mail and Page Six. The outlets further reported that Diddy received an MRI to check on an old injury and was sent back to the Metropolitan Detention Center several hours later.

Us Weekly has reached out to representatives for both Diddy and the Metropolitan Detention Center for comment.

The disgraced music mogul has been in jail since September 2024, when he was arrested on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. A 14-page indictment claimed that Diddy “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him” for decades.

Diddy's Attorney Says He Is Getting 'Treatment and Therapy' Amid Indictment, Prison Stay

Sean “Diddy” Combs is undergoing “treatment and therapy” amid his recent legal woes, his attorney said during an arraignment hearing on Tuesday, September 17. During Tuesday’s hearing in New York, Diddy’s main attorney, Marc Agnifilo, noted that the rapper and business mogul is in “treatment and therapy for things that most respectfully he needs treatment […]

Diddy pleaded not guilty to the claims before being remanded to Brooklyn’s MDC ahead of his trial date, which is slated to begin in May. He was also denied bail following four separate appeals.

We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.”

The statement concluded, “To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”

Agnifilo said in a separate statement later in September 2024 that Diddy was getting “treatment and therapy” while behind bars.

“Mr. Combs is not a perfect person,” the statement concluded. “There’s been drug use, there’s been toxic relationships — which I think were mutual in their toxicity as these things often are.”

According to the lawyer, it should be commended that Diddy was getting help “at the ripe age of 54.” He later turned 55 amid his prison stay.

There are reports circulating that rapper and music mogul Diddy was rushed to the hospital while awaiting trial for a legal matter. The details surrounding his hospitalization have not been confirmed, but sources close to the situation have stated that it may be related to stress and anxiety over the impending trial.

Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, is no stranger to legal issues, having faced several lawsuits and legal battles throughout his career. However, this latest incident has fans and followers concerned for his well-being.

As we wait for more information to emerge, we can only hope that Diddy receives the necessary care and support during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones as they navigate this challenging situation. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Dodgers Rival Reportedly Interested in Signing Kiké Hernández: Report

Utility man Kiké Hernández played a key role in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series run, but three months later he is drawing interest from the very team he helped defeat, the New York Yankees.

The New York Post’s Mark W. Sanchez reported the Bombers have checked in on Hernández this winter, indicating the fan favorite’s free agency process, which has been fairly quiet, could get very interesting.

“A source said the Yankees have inquired on Hernandez, whom they also asked about last winter,” Sanchez wrote.

The thought of Hernández in pinstripes is somewhat ironic, especially after his remarks at the World Series parade. During his speech to Dodgers fan, Hernández made sure to call out rapper Fat Joe’s performance ahead of Game 3 of the World Series at Yankee Stadium.

“This guy, used to be fat,” Hernández said. “He’s not fat anymore. His name is Joe. We didn’t need to play, because after that performance we had already won.

    “They not like us, baby.”

While Dodger Fest takes place Saturday, many fans are still anxious for the Dodgers to bring back Hernández this offseason. Even players have expressed hope for a Dodgers, Hernández reunion.

“I’m praying to God that we can bring Kiké (Hernández) back,” Teoscar Hernández said Monday on Dodgers Territory. “I miss Kiké and I want him to be a Dodger.”

The October hero was candid when he was asked about free agency just a few days after the Fall Classic at a Raising Canes partnership event.

“I would love to be back,” Hernández said. “I truly believe that — we won the World Series a couple days ago — but I truly believe that this team is gonna be even better next year with all the pitching reinforcements.”

Hernández was indeed correct, the Dodgers have fortified their pitching staff adding starting pitchers Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki along with relievers Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates. While the Dodgers’ blockbuster signings have shocked and awed the baseball world, the defending champions still need to address whether Hernández will return to Los Angeles.

Although Sanchez reported the Yankees have shown interest in the Dodgers fan favorite, he also said Hernández’s most likely landing spot is L.A.

“The most likely destination for Hernandez, though, is probably back in Los Angeles, and the Dodgers will have open roster spots when they are able to slide injured players to the 60-day injured list,” Sanchez wrote.

According to recent reports, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ longtime rival, the San Francisco Giants, are reportedly interested in signing utility player Kiké Hernández in free agency. Hernández, known for his versatility and clutch performances in the postseason, has been a key player for the Dodgers over the past few years.

The Giants, who are looking to bolster their roster and challenge the Dodgers in the NL West, see Hernández as a valuable addition to their lineup. With his ability to play multiple positions and provide a spark off the bench, Hernández could be a valuable asset for the Giants as they look to compete in the upcoming season.

Only time will tell if the Giants are able to secure Hernández’s services, but it would certainly add an interesting dynamic to the rivalry between the two teams. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Lakers Have Reportedly Not Spoken With East Squad About $22M Center

One of the biggest needs for the Los Angeles Lakers is a new center. They need someone to help take the load off Anthony Davis.

Davis is hoping that the team will get a center who will start next to him. He has mentioned multiple times how he thinks that the best play he has on the court is from the power forward spot.

Los Angeles has been looking around at the price for other centers across the league. There are some starting centers who could be on the move.

Despite the Lakers making calls to other organizations, it doesn’t sound like they have made a call about one specific Eastern Conference center.

That is Hawks center Clint Capela. Capela has recently been moved from a starting role to the bench by Atlanta.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Lakers are not interested in Capela. The Lakers seem to have turned their attention to some other options ahead of the trade deadline.

Capela actually wouldn’t be a bad option for the Lakers. He is someone who can grab a bunch of rebounds and is a good rim-runner.

He is also someone who can start or come off the bench, depending on the matchup. The Lakers are looking for any help they can get at center, so it’s unclear why they aren’t interested in him.

More Lakers news: Stephen A Smith Says Lakers’ LeBron James Should Stop Bronny James From Playing in NBA

Los Angeles has been linked to both a center and a guard before the trade deadline. It seems unlikely at this point that they add both with the deadline just a week away.

A guard seems like the bigger need from a basketball standpoint, but the Lakers might bring in a center instead just to make their superstar happy.

The Lakers know they need to make a move in order to be an NBA title contender. It remains to be seen which of these moves they make if they make a move at all.

As time goes on, this deadline is in danger of being a complete dud, just as last year’s was.

Capela is averaging 9.4 points, nine rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game this year.

The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly not had any discussions with an Eastern Conference team regarding a potential trade for their $22 million center. Rumors had been swirling in recent days about a potential deal involving the Lakers big man, but it appears that no talks have taken place.

The Lakers are currently in the midst of a busy offseason, with rumors swirling about potential trades and free agent signings. However, it seems that any potential deal involving their center will have to wait, as the team has not been in contact with any Eastern Conference squads about a potential trade.

It remains to be seen if the Lakers will ultimately decide to move on from their center, or if they will look to build around him for the upcoming season. In the meantime, fans will have to wait and see what the team’s next move will be as they continue to shape their roster for the upcoming season.

New Orleans Pelicans star Dejounte Murray is out for the remainder of the NBA season after suffering a torn Achilles in Friday’s 118-116 loss to the Boston Celtics, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Murray appeared to suffer the non-contact injury while chasing an offensive rebound following his missed shot in the first quarter. He soon limped off the court and was helped back to the locker room before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Dejounte Murray was helped to the locker room after suffering an apparent non-contact injury on this play pic.twitter.com/4HVeiNwduI

Following the injury, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that the Pelicans will try to make a trade before the deadline to get under the luxury tax threshold.

The 28-year-old Murray, an All-Star in 2022, entered Friday averaging 17.9 points, 7.6 assists, 6.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals.

This has been a horrible year for New Orleans with multiple players impact by long-term injuries. As a team, the Pelicans entered Friday having played 48 total games. All but four players (Brandon Boston Jr., Yves Missi, Javonte Green, Jeremiah Robertson-Earl) have missed 10 or more contests.

Understandably, the Pelicans have struggled and now sit 12-37 after their 118-116 home loss to Boston.

New Orleans had high hopes entering this season. The Pels won 49 games and made the playoffs last year, but added Murray via trade from the Atlanta Hawks gave the team optimism for a deeper playoff run.

Unfortunately, everything that could go wrong has in New Orleans, and now Murray has suffered a devastating injury, dealing the Pelicans another massive blow.

The New Orleans Pelicans have been dealt a major blow as starting point guard Dejounte Murray is reportedly out for the season with a torn Achilles injury. The news comes as a devastating blow to the Pelicans, who were hoping to make a playoff push this season.

Murray, who was acquired in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs earlier this season, had been a key contributor for the Pelicans, averaging 15.6 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.8 rebounds per game.

The loss of Murray will be a significant setback for the Pelicans, who will now have to rely on backup point guards to fill the void left by his absence. The team will need to regroup quickly and find a way to stay competitive in the tough Western Conference.

Fans of the Pelicans will be hoping for a speedy recovery for Murray, who was having a breakout season before suffering the injury. In the meantime, they will have to rally behind their team and show their support as they navigate through this difficult time. Stay tuned for more updates on Murray’s injury and the Pelicans’ season as it unfolds.

  • Clippers reportedly trade P.J. Tucker and Mo Bamba to Jazz for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills

The Los Angeles Clippers are making moves ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, sending P.J. Tucker and Mo Bamba to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills, per ESPN. Utah also reportedly receives a future second-round pick and cash in the trade.

Bamba, 26, and Eubanks, 28, are a more direct part of the trade: The two centers have put up similar numbers for their respective teams this season. Bamba signed a one-year deal with the Clippers this offseason, while Eubanks signed a two-year contract in August that Los Angeles will pick up.

The other two players in the trade are veterans. Tucker, 39, signed a three-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022, which the Clippers took on when the veteran forward was sent to Los Angeles in 2023 as part of the James Harden trade.

Mills, meanwhile, will be joining his fourth team in the past year. Mills was waived by the Atlanta Hawks last February, and signed with the Miami Heat by March; the 36-year-old guard then signed with the Jazz in September.

Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the trade puts the Clippers $4 million below the luxury tax, opening the team up for more flexibility ahead of the trade deadline. Tucker, Bamba and Mills are all on contracts that expire at the end of the season, while Eubanks will have one more year remaining on the deal.

In a surprising move, the Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly traded P.J. Tucker and Mo Bamba to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills.

This trade shakes up both teams’ rosters and could have a significant impact on their playoff hopes. Tucker and Bamba bring defensive presence and versatility to the Jazz, while Eubanks and Mills add depth and shooting to the Clippers’ lineup.

It will be interesting to see how these new acquisitions fit in with their respective teams and how they perform in the postseason. Stay tuned for more updates on this blockbuster trade.
