Kings Activate Moore & Lewis from Injured Reserve + Lee to ONT, Burroughs Non-Roster

    Good morning, Insiders.

The LA Kings have announced the following roster moves.

    – Forwards Trevor Moore and Trevor Lewis have been activated from injured reserve.
    – Defenseman Kyle Burroughs has been designated as non-roster playing status.
    – Forward Andre Lee has been assigned to the AHL’s Ontario Reign.

Tackling these moves in order, as the Kings prepare to take on the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight on home ice.

    Trevor Lewis / Trevor Moore
    I would call this expected.

Lewis and Moore have steadily been progressing back from their respective injuries. Both players have practiced now on consecutive days as full participants, skating together on a line with forward Samuel Helenius. With the activation, I’d expect both players to play in tonight’s game versus Tampa Bay.

The role will probably be larger for Moore than Lewis upon their respective returns, and going forward, but the two could be linemates tonight. Moore is accustomed to playing in a top-nine role, while Lewis has primarily been a fourth-line player in his second stint with the Kings. Starting Moore in a reduced role, though, as he plays his first game after an upper-body injury, does make some sense. Tanner Jeannot and Alex Turcotte have both taken well to elevated roles and they’ve done a good job on their current lines. So, while working both players back in, you keep the consistency in the top nine and introduce both Trevors lower in the lineup.

At some point, I’d expect Moore to rise in the lineup, but personally, no issue with him starting a bit further down as he gets back into game situations for the first time since December 12. For Lewis, I’d envision this as his role going forward, somewhere on the fourth line and perhaps not playing every night. For tonight, though, he is set to skate in his 1,000th career NHL game. An impressive accomplishment we’ll get into more as we progress throughout the week.

    Kyle Burroughs
Nothing to worry about re: Burroughs. In fact, something to celebrate!

Congratulations to Kyle and his wife Hayley, with Burroughs missing tonight’s game after the birth of his first child! A happy non-roster designation for the Burroughs family. Assuming he will return to the group this week and would be an option to play on Wednesday against Calgary.

    Andre Lee
Lee is the victim to a difficult roster situation. With Lewis and Moore back, the Kings had to make a decision. The birth of baby Burroughs created one roster spot, but to activate both Moore and Lewis, the Kings had to clear up one additional spot on the roster.

First things first, you have to look at players who are waiver exempt. On the Kings, the only three players who fit that designation are Lee, forward Samuel Helenius and defenseman Brandt Clarke. Now, Clarke is obviously not getting sent down in anything but a paper transaction, so rule him out, and that lands on Helenius and Lee.

Both were initially pegged to start the season in the AHL but both players really impressed during training camp. Lee cracked the opening-night lineup, winning an open position on the wing, while Helenius was an early-season recall. Since he made his NHL debut on November 9 against Columbus, Helenius has been in the lineup for every game the Kings have played.

At this time, my sense is that having the center in Helenius is more of what the Kings need right now. Jim Hiller has also pointed to the intensity that Helenius brings with his 6-6 frame, night in and night out. Lee has similar attributes, but Hiller believes that right now, Helenius is using them a bit more consistently, raising his level in the process. He implored Lee recently to do the same and I think he did, burying his first career NHL goal on Wednesday against New Jersey. Helenius has perhaps brought a bit more consistency, though, and remains with the big club for now. I think we will see Andre Lee back with the Kings some time down the stretch. He is still highly thought of. But, for now, he will return to the Ontario Reign and could feature tonight against Coachella Valley. Lee has played in four AHL games this season, collecting two points (1-1-2).

Hiller spoke candidly today about the difficulty in removing any deserving player from the lineup, or bumping a player who is deserving lower in the lineup. It’s a part of the job though and Hiller hopes to strike the right chord when he has those conversations.

“It’s always difficult that to strike the right balance in that and yeah, it’s not always fair,” Hiller said. “That’s the first thing, right? The league is hard, guys have earned their stripes, but you also appreciate the contributions that people have made so somehow, you’ve got to try to balance it. You’ve got to try to do it as fairly as possible, with enough empathy as possible, that’s the word you are looking for, for the players that are going to lose some icetime.”

Will have more on what these moves might mean in today’s game preview, which I’ll have out in a few hours. Forwards Samuel Helenius and Akil Thomas were on the ice this morning at Toyota Sports Performance Center. Does that indicate an 11/7 with Lewis, Moore and defenseman Andreas Englund in the lineup or just having one of the forwards on the ice for a morning skate before playing, after Helenius didn’t play a ton against the Devils and Thomas has been out of the lineup over the last two games. Time will tell there. Expecting Game 1,000 for Lewis, which is exciting in its own right. Preview coming in short order with that discussion.

The Los Angeles Kings have made some roster moves ahead of their upcoming games, activating forwards Trevor Moore and Trevor Lewis from Injured Reserve. Moore has been out with an upper-body injury, while Lewis has been dealing with a lower-body injury. Both players are expected to provide a boost to the Kings’ lineup as they look to continue their strong start to the season.

In a corresponding move, the Kings have assigned forward Anders Lee to their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign. Lee has struggled to find his scoring touch this season, and the Kings are hopeful that some time in the minors will help him regain his confidence and form.

Additionally, defenseman Johnny Boychuk has been placed on non-roster status, with the team recalling blueliner Kyle Burroughs from the Reign to fill his spot in the lineup. Burroughs has been impressive in the AHL this season and will be looking to make an impact at the NHL level.

With these roster moves, the Kings are hoping to strengthen their lineup and continue their push towards the playoffs. Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses.

Source — Rangers place Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve

New York Rangers star goaltender Igor Shesterkin has been placed on injured reserve with an upper body injury, an NHL source told ESPN on Tuesday.

The Rangers recalled NHL veteran Louis Domingue from the AHL Hartford Wolf Pack. Shesterkin’s backup, Jonathan Quick, is 5-4-0 in 12 games this season with a .907 save percentage and a 2.69 goals-against average.

Shesterkin stopped 21 of 25 shots in the Rangers’ 5-3 loss to the Florida Panthers on Monday night. During that game, Panthers forward Sam Bennett was checked into Shesterkin’s upper body by Rangers defenseman Ryan Lindgren. Shesterkin was down on the ice briefly but didn’t leave the game.

Shesterkin, 29, is 11-15-1 in 27 games this season with a .906 save percentage and a 3.10 goals-against average. While the Rangers are 20th in goals against per game this season, Shesterkin is second among all goalies with 13 goals saved above replacement, according to Stathletes.

It has been an eventful month for Shesterkin. He signed a contract extension with the Rangers on Dec. 6 that makes him the highest-paid goalie in NHL history: an eight-year, $92 million contract that starts in the 2025-26 season. The 2022 Vezina Trophy winner is in in the final year of a four-year deal with an average annual value of $5.66 million.

The injury to Shesterkin is the latest bit of adversity for the Rangers this season. They are 16-19-1 after 36 games, having lost four games in a row and going 2-8-0 in their past 10 games. The Rangers were seven points out of a playoff spot entering Tuesday night.

The New York Rangers have placed goaltender Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve due to a lower-body injury. Shesterkin sustained the injury during a recent game and will need time to recover before returning to the lineup. The Rangers will rely on their backup goaltenders to fill in during Shesterkin’s absence. Stay tuned for updates on Shesterkin’s recovery timeline and when he is expected to return to action. #NYRangers #InjuredReserve #IgorShesterkin

Report: Rangers placing Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve

The New York Rangers will have to dig out of a deep hole without their most important player.

According to Mollie Walker of The New York Post, the Rangers are placing goalie Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve with an upper-body injury.

The Rangers did not announce the move but did recall goalie Louis Domingue from the AHL.

Shesterkin started in Monday’s 5-3 loss to the Panthers, allowing four goals.

The former Vezina Trophy winner has just 11 wins in 27 starts this season with a .906 save percentage.

The Rangers won the Presidents’ Trophy last season but have now tumbled to last in the Metropolitan Division with a 16-19-1 record. Now, the team will have to turn to Jonathan Quick and Domingue in net as it tries to turn things around.

The New York Rangers have announced that they are placing their star goaltender Igor Shesterkin on injured reserve after he suffered a lower-body injury in their recent game against the New Jersey Devils.

Shesterkin has been a key player for the Rangers this season, posting a 2.33 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage in 39 games. His absence will be a significant blow to the team as they push for a playoff spot in the competitive Metropolitan Division.

The Rangers have called up goaltender Keith Kinkaid from their AHL affiliate to fill in for Shesterkin while he is sidelined. Kinkaid has played in 22 NHL games this season, recording a 2.96 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage.

It is unclear how long Shesterkin will be out of the lineup, but the Rangers are hopeful that he will be able to return before the end of the regular season. In the meantime, they will have to rely on Kinkaid and backup goaltender Alexandar Georgiev to anchor their defense.

Stay tuned for updates on Shesterkin’s condition and recovery timeline as the Rangers continue their push for the playoffs.

The Creature from Jekyll Island: a Second Look at the Federal Reserve

Many people are familiar with the Federal Reserve, the central banking system of the United States. However, few are aware of the controversial origins of this institution. In his book “The Creature from Jekyll Island,” author G. Edward Griffin delves into the secretive meeting on Jekyll Island, Georgia in 1910 that led to the creation of the Federal Reserve.

Griffin argues that the Federal Reserve is not a government institution, but rather a cartel of private banks that have been given the power to control the nation’s money supply. He claims that the Federal Reserve operates in secrecy and serves the interests of the banking elite, rather than the American people.

While some may dismiss Griffin’s claims as conspiracy theory, it is important to take a critical look at the Federal Reserve and its role in shaping the economy. As the institution responsible for monetary policy in the United States, the Federal Reserve plays a crucial role in determining interest rates, inflation, and economic growth.

By examining the history and operations of the Federal Reserve, we can gain a better understanding of how this institution influences our financial system. Whether you agree with Griffin’s conclusions or not, “The Creature from Jekyll Island” offers a thought-provoking perspective on the Federal Reserve and its impact on the economy.

The Los Angeles Chargers activated running back J.K. Dobbins from injured reserve, the team announced Friday. Dobbins is officially listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against the New England Patriots.

Dobbins has been on injured reserve for the Chargers’ past four games with a left knee MCL sprain suffered in L.A.’s Week 12 loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

Injuries have plagued Dobbins throughout his career. The 26-year-old played in just 24 of a potential 73 games because of injuries in his first four seasons in the NFL with the Ravens from 2020 to ’23. But Dobbins had undergone a career renaissance since signing with the Chargers in the offseason.

He was one of the league’s top backs before his injury in Week 12, averaging 72.6 yards per game through the first 11 weeks, seventh in the NFL. Dobbins was a limited participant in practice throughout the week.

The Chargers will need Dobbins, as the team already ruled out running back Gus Edwards with an ankle injury.

The Federal Reserve is one of the most powerful and mysterious institutions in the world, controlling the flow of money and interest rates in the United States. But what are the secrets behind this influential organization?

    1. Private Ownership: Many people are surprised to learn that the Federal Reserve is not actually a government entity, but a private central bank. It is owned by a consortium of private banks, which means that its decisions are not always in the best interest of the American people.

    2. Debt-Based Money System: The Federal Reserve creates money out of thin air by simply adding numbers to a computer screen. This money is then loaned to the government and to banks, but it must be paid back with interest. This debt-based system ensures that the Federal Reserve and its owners continue to profit off of the American people.

    3. Manipulation of Interest Rates: The Federal Reserve has the power to manipulate interest rates, which can have a major impact on the economy. By raising or lowering interest rates, the Federal Reserve can control inflation, unemployment, and economic growth.

    4. Lack of Transparency: Despite its immense power, the Federal Reserve operates with very little transparency. Its meetings are closed to the public, its financial statements are not audited, and its decisions are often made behind closed doors. This lack of transparency has led to suspicions of corruption and manipulation.

    5. Influence on Politics: The Federal Reserve wields significant influence over the political process through its control of the money supply. By manipulating interest rates and the availability of credit, the Federal Reserve can influence elections and policy decisions, often to benefit its own interests.

Overall, the Federal Reserve is a complex and secretive institution that plays a crucial role in the American economy. Understanding its inner workings and the secrets behind its operations is essential for anyone who wants to truly understand the financial system.

In this post, we will take a closer look at the Federal Reserve and the controversial book “The Creature from Jekyll Island” by G. Edward Griffin.

The Federal Reserve is the central banking system of the United States, tasked with regulating the country’s monetary policy, supervising financial institutions, and providing financial services to the government and commercial banks. However, it has been the subject of much debate and criticism over the years.

“The Creature from Jekyll Island” delves into the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913, during a secret meeting on Jekyll Island off the coast of Georgia. The book argues that the Federal Reserve is a secretive and powerful entity that controls the country’s economy and benefits a select few at the expense of the general public.

Critics of the Federal Reserve point to its role in inflating the money supply, manipulating interest rates, and bailing out banks during financial crises. They argue that the Fed’s actions have led to economic instability, wealth inequality, and a loss of purchasing power for the average American.

While “The Creature from Jekyll Island” presents a critical view of the Federal Reserve, it is important to consider other perspectives and examine the evidence and arguments on both sides. Whether you believe the Federal Reserve is a necessary institution or a shadowy cabal, it is crucial to stay informed and engaged in discussions about our monetary system and its impact on society.
