  • WWE And TNA Legend Kurt Angle Explains His Decision To Retire Early

Fix today. Protect forever. Secure your devices with the #1 malware removal and protection software

Some professional wrestlers will try and wrestle well into the years when they should be thinking about pensions rather than wrestling moves, but not Kurt Angle, as he retired from in-ring action in 2019 at the age of 50

Angle had a decorated 21-year career, but what led him to hang up the boots for good was his desire to be remembered fondly by the fans, as he explained during an appearance on “Story Time with Dutch Mantell.”

“[WWE] wouldn’t even have me wrestle, they wouldn’t let me wrestle, I think they thought of me as a liability,” Angle said.

He explained that he thought his run was booked backward as he thought he would wrestle, then become a general manager, and finish in the Hall of Fame, which ended up happening the opposite way around.

“They didn’t have any plans to put a title on me, nothing, and I was wrestling extremely well when I got there, but when I got there and I became the GM for nine months, I was inactive for a whole nine months, never got in the ring. When I eventually got in the ring, I wasn’t the same person, I felt like that I look like an old man wrestling in the ring, that’s how bad it was, and that’s why I retired early, because I didn’t want the fans to remember me as this broken down old man,” revealed the Olympic gold medallist.

Angle also believes that the reason he was booked the way he was in WWE during his final run was due to how he originally left the company in 2006. He stated that when someone leaves a company like WWE in the way that he did, the company, and more specifically Vince McMahon, won’t forget that in a hurry.

After years of dominating the wrestling world in both WWE and TNA, Kurt Angle shocked fans by announcing his decision to retire early from the sport. Many were left wondering why the Olympic gold medalist would hang up his boots so soon. In a recent interview, Angle opened up about his decision and explained his reasons for retiring.

The 52-year-old wrestling legend revealed that his body simply couldn’t keep up with the demands of the sport anymore. Years of hard-hitting matches and intense training had taken a toll on his body, leading to a number of injuries that were starting to affect his quality of life. Angle admitted that he was no longer able to perform at the level that he wanted to, and felt that it was time to step away from the ring before things got worse.

Despite his decision to retire, Angle expressed his gratitude for the opportunities that wrestling had given him and the amazing memories he had created throughout his career. He also reassured fans that he would still be involved in the wrestling world in some capacity, whether it be through coaching or mentoring younger talent.

While fans may be disappointed to see Angle retire, it’s clear that he made the decision with his long-term health and well-being in mind. As one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, Kurt Angle will always be remembered for his incredible skills, dedication, and passion for the sport.

  • Could Palantir Stock Help You Retire a Millionaire?

Palantir Technologies (PLTR 4.20%) stock was one of the top performers on the stock market in 2024, jumping 340% in 2024.

The defense tech stock was fueled by a ramp in revenue growth and operating margin, as its artificial intelligence platform (AIP) gained traction with both federal government customers and its U.S. commercial business.

The company got its start in counterterrorism serving the federal government after 9/11, and it’s since added new platforms, including AIP in 2023, which supercharged its business. Meanwhile, the AI boom also led investors to bid up the stock. Toward the end of last year, the stock jumped following a strong third-quarter earnings report and on the election, as investors anticipated more spending by defense contractors like Palantir.

    PLTR Chart

    PLTR data by YCharts

Palantir enters 2025 with a lot of momentum in the business, as revenue growth has accelerated for five quarters in a row and operating margin has improved for eight consecutive quarters.

Driven by AI demand and improving utility in the commercial sector, Palantir scaled up its business, and margins have expanded significantly, delivering on the promise of its subscription business model. Along the way, it’s attracted a lot of attention among investors, but can Palantir help you retire a millionaire? Let’s take a look at the reasons to bet on the stock long term, as well as why you may want to look elsewhere.

The letters AI superimposed over a keyboard.

    Palantir’s success story

Because of its unique history in counterterrorism and defense tech, Palantir has significant competitive advantages in its niche of data mining, and the company says that it generally competes with in-house solutions from its potential customers. As it said in its annual report, “Organizations frequently attempt to build their own data platforms before turning to buy ours.”

Additionally, the company’s AI platform significantly ramped up business with commercial customers, and it accelerated its sales cycles, going from product trial to a multimillion-dollar contract in less than two months.

U.S. commercial revenue rose 54% in the third quarter to $179 million, emerging as a key growth driver for the company. The U.S. commercial market is much larger than the federal government, so its growth in that segment is a bullish indicator for its future.

Palantir also continues to introduce new products, including a visual navigation AI that can guide autonomous drones in areas without GPS.

    The risks facing Palantir

As a business, Palantir looks solid. It has an impressive set of competitive advantages, given its focus on defense tech and experience in data mining and analytics.

However, the company’s growth rate may not be enough to justify the stock’s lofty valuation. In fact, Palantir is now one of the most expensive stocks on the market based on its price-to-sales ratio of 72, which bakes in extraordinarily high expectations. While software stocks tend to trade at high valuations, even fast-growing ones tend to trade at a price-to-sales ratio of 20 or less, meaning Palantir trades at a significant premium compared even to its high-growth peers.

Given that most of its business comes from the government, it may be hard for Palantir to significantly accelerate its growth rate past the 30% it reported in the third quarter. Despite being connected to AI, it doesn’t have the same potential to go parabolic that a stock like Nvidia does.

Will Palantir help make you a millionaire?

Palantir still has a lot of growth potential over the long term, but at the current valuation, investors are better off taking a wait-and-see approach with the stock. The valuation is likely to come down, either by the stock price falling or the business growing into the multiple, and at that point, the risk/reward will be more favorable for Palantir.

After the stock more than quadrupled in one year, it shouldn’t be a surprise that it’s due for a breather.

Palantir Technologies Inc. has been making waves in the tech industry with its data analytics software and government contracts. Its stock has seen significant growth in recent years, leading many investors to wonder if it could potentially help them retire as millionaires.

Palantir’s stock price has been on a steady upward trajectory since its IPO in 2020, with the company’s market cap reaching over $40 billion. With its innovative technology and strong customer base, many analysts believe that Palantir has the potential for continued growth in the coming years.

For investors looking to retire as millionaires, Palantir stock could be a solid addition to their portfolio. However, as with any investment, it’s important to do thorough research and consider the risks involved. Palantir operates in a competitive industry and is subject to market fluctuations, so it’s essential to have a diversified investment strategy.

Andre Iguodala was named the 2015 NBA Finals MVP after helping the Warriors to their first title in 40 seasons.

    • NBA All-Star 2025: Complete coverage

The Golden State Warriors will retire Andre Iguodala’s No. 9 jersey on Feb. 23, following the team’s game against the Dallas Mavericks at Chase Center (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC), making him just the seventh player in Warriors franchise history to have his jersey number retired by the organization.

Iguodala’s No. 9 will join Warriors legends Alvin Attles (No. 16), Rick Barry (No. 24), Wilt Chamberlain (No. 16), Tom Meschery (No. 14), Chris Mullin (No. 17) and Nate Thurmond (No. 42) in the rafters at Chase Center.

A four-time NBA champion (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022) and the 2015 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player with Golden State, Iguodala appeared in 452 career regular season games (84 starts) with the Warriors, averaging 6.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 26.0 minutes per game over eight seasons (2013-19, 2021-23). Iguodala appeared in 111 playoff games (40 starts) with Golden State, averaging 8.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.1 steals and 28.5 minutes.

Iguodala, who reached the NBA Finals in six of his eight seasons with the Warriors, helped the franchise end a 40-year championship drought in 2015. With Golden State trailing the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2015 NBA Finals, 2-1, Iguodala was inserted into the starting lineup in a move that catalyzed a three-game win streak to secure the Warriors’ first NBA championship since 1975. He was named NBA Finals MVP with averages of 16.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the six-game series.

Iguodala is one of only 11 players to win four NBA championships and earn an NBA Finals MVP, along with teammate Stephen Curry and NBA legends Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, John Havlicek, LeBron James, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, and Tony Parker. He ranks in the Top 10 on the Warriors’ all-time postseason career leaders lists in several categories including: fourth in steals (122), fifth in three-pointers made (113), third in assists (383), fourth in games played (111) and fourth in minutes played (3,160).

Originally selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the ninth overall pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, Iguodala played in 1,231 career games (784 starts) with the 76ers, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat and Warriors, averaging 11.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 32.1 minutes per game in 19 NBA seasons. He was named to the All-Defensive Team twice (First Team in 2013-14, Second Team 2010-11) and was an NBA All-Star with Philadelphia in 2012.

Iguodala joins the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green as players who have had their jerseys retired by the Warriors.

The ceremony to retire Iguodala’s jersey is sure to be a special moment for fans and players alike, as they celebrate the legacy of one of the franchise’s all-time greats. Congratulations, Andre! #WarriorsLegend #AI9Forever

  • PETA suggests ‘weather reveal’ cake for Groundhog Day to retire Punxsutawney Phil

Fix today. Protect forever. Secure your devices with the #1 malware removal and protection software

PETA suggested that Groundhog Day be celebrated with a “weather reveal” cake instead of pulling Punxsutawney Phil out of his whole to determine six more weeks of winter or if spring will arrive early.

The organization, which stands for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, shared their idea in a news release on Jan. 21 saying they would deliver a vegan cake each Groundhog Day if club president Tom Dunkel agreed to let Phil retire to a sanctuary.

“If the inside of the cake is blue, there will be six more weeks of winter. If it’s pink, there will be an early spring,” PETA President Ingrid Newkirk said in her letter to Dunkel. “This would allow you to still make tourism dough while showing Phil a slice of decency. It would be as least as accurate as asking a groundhog what to expect in a way that doesn’t even reflect his nature.”

Newkirk went on to point out that groundhogs are shy prey animals who actively avoid humans when allowed and called out the Groundhog Club for subjecting Phil “to a noisy announcer, screaming crowds, and flashing lights against all his natural instincts.”

It isn’t the first year PETA has attempted to retire Punxsutawney Phil.

In 2024, the group offered to replace the groundhog with a giant gold coin, while in 2022 they suggested officials predict the weather with persimmon seeds.

The annual Groundhog Day celebration is scheduled to take place in Pennsylvania on Feb. 2.

Phil predicted an early spring in 2024 after not seeing his shadow.

PETA Suggests ‘Weather Reveal’ Cake for Groundhog Day to Retire Punxsutawney Phil

As Groundhog Day approaches, animal rights organization PETA has come up with a unique suggestion to retire Punxsutawney Phil and put an end to the tradition of predicting the weather based on a groundhog’s shadow.

Instead of relying on a frightened rodent to determine whether we will have an early spring or six more weeks of winter, PETA is proposing the use of a “weather reveal” cake. The cake would be designed to look like a groundhog emerging from its burrow, with the color of the cake inside revealing the weather forecast for the upcoming weeks.

Not only would this alternative method be more humane and ethical, but it would also add a fun and delicious twist to the Groundhog Day festivities. Plus, who wouldn’t want to celebrate with a slice of cake regardless of the weather forecast?

So, let’s retire Punxsutawney Phil and embrace a new tradition with a ‘weather reveal’ cake on Groundhog Day. Let’s make this holiday both enjoyable and respectful to animals.

  • Bills S Micah Hyde To Retire

Fix today. Protect forever. Secure your devices with the #1 malware removal and protection software

Micah Hyde flirted with retirement in 2024, eventually confirming he would only return to the Bills if he opted to continue his career. Buffalo kept the door open and eventually called on Hyde as insurance. Though, the team did not opt to turn to that insurance policy when a significant safety injury occurred.

The Bills did not elevate Hyde from their practice squad for the AFC championship game; Sean McDermott confirmed the team would not do so despite Taylor Rapp‘s hip injury in the divisional round. With Hyde spending his final season in Buffalo on the practice squad, he confirmed (via the Buffalo News’ Jay Skurski) he will retire.

Hyde said as much upon rejoining the Bills in early December. The Bills had split up one of the longest-tenured safety tandems of the free agency era in March, cutting Jordan Poyer and not re-signing Hyde. Poyer joined the Dolphins, but Hyde remained in Buffalo as a backup plan. Although the Bills centered their 2024 safety setup around Rapp and Damar Hamlin, they added Hyde to their P-squad for the stretch run. Hyde effectively replaced the seldom-used Mike Edwards — released midseason — but did not log any appearances in his 12th season.

This season obviously does not best encapsulate Hyde’s run in Buffalo. The former Packers draftee played a central role in the team’s McDermott-era rise. Signed to midlevel deals in McDermott’s first offseason in charge, weeks before Brandon Beane came aboard as GM, Hyde and Poyer started together for seven seasons (a 2022 Hyde injury did interfere during that stretch).

Each Buffalo safety earned at least one All-Pro honor, giving the Bills reliable back-line deterrence. The Bills made the playoffs six times during the Hyde-Poyer pair’s seasons together. Although the perennial AFC East champions have run into a rough trend of seeing their top cornerbacks unavailable for Chiefs matchups in the playoffs, the team was regularly able to count on its Hyde-Poyer duo for years.

Hyde, who turned 34 in December, made 95 starts with the Bills. Among Buffalo safeties, that ranks behind only Poyer (107), 1990s bastion Henry Jones (129) and all-time leader Steve Freeman (134). The Iowa alum earned two second-team All-Pro nods — in 2017 and 2021. Each season featured five Hyde interceptions. He added another pick in a 2021 wild-card rout of the Patriots.

A fifth-round Packers pick, Hyde yo-yoed as a starter in Green Bay. The Bills gave him a five-year, $30.5MM deal in March 2017 and later extended him in 2021 (two years, $19.25MM). While Hyde never became a top-market safety, he did well for himself as a pro by crossing the $50MM mark in career earnings during the 2023 season. Overall, Hyde has earned more than $53MM as a pro.

Hyde came back from a season-ending neck injury, one that gave Hamlin his first batch of starts before the latter’s terrifying injury in Cincinnati, to start alongside Poyer in the 2023 season. But the Bills drafted Cole Bishop in the 2024 second round; the Utah product became their No. 3 safety this season. Rapp’s new deal locks him down through the 2026 season, while Bishop could be in line to replace Hamlin as a starter — should the free agent-to-be leave Buffalo in March.

In a shocking turn of events, Buffalo Bills safety Micah Hyde has announced his decision to retire from the NFL. Hyde, who has been a key player for the Bills since joining the team in 2017, made the announcement via social media, thanking his teammates, coaches, and fans for their support throughout his career.

The 31-year-old Pro Bowl safety cited personal reasons for his decision to retire, stating that he wants to focus on spending more time with his family and pursuing other interests outside of football. Hyde’s retirement comes as a surprise to many, as he was coming off another strong season with the Bills and was expected to be a key player for the team in the upcoming season.

During his time with the Bills, Hyde was known for his leadership on and off the field, as well as his playmaking ability in the secondary. He finishes his career with 24 interceptions, 5 forced fumbles, and 418 tackles.

The Bills will now have to find a replacement for Hyde in their secondary, as they look to build on their success from last season. Fans and teammates alike will surely miss Hyde’s presence on the field, but they wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

  • PETA calls to end Groundhog Day tradition, retire Punxsutawney Phil with cake alternative

Fix today. Protect forever. Secure your devices with the #1 malware removal and protection software

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is calling to ax a beloved American tradition – and to replace it with what it calls a “delicious” vegan substitution.

The animal rights nonprofit organization is seeking to replace the Groundhog Day tradition with a vegan “weather reveal” cake. PETA announced the proposal in a news release on Jan. 20.

“PETA will deliver a delicious ‘Weather Reveal’ vegan cake each Groundhog Day in perpetuity if [the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club] agrees to let Punxsutawney Phil and his family retire to a reputable sanctuary, a move that will earn the outfit kudos from wildlife fans,” the press release stated.

PETA also published pun-filled letter to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, arguing that the groundhog’s annual duties were “no piece of cake” for him.

“Groundhogs are shy prey animals who, when allowed, actively avoid humans,” the letter detailed. “Yet, year after year, Phil is transported to Gobler’s Knob, whisked on stage, and subjected to a noisy announcer, screaming crowds, and flashing lights against all his natural instincts.”

“If approached in his natural habitat, he would run away in fear, not volunteer to live year-round in captivity, unable to do anything that’s natural and important to him like hibernate or burrow – just to be a town’s once-a-year fake meteorologist.”

In a statement, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk also called for Groundhog Day officials to “sprinkle some happiness” into Phil’s life by letting him retire.

“When allowed to be themselves, groundhogs avoid humans, create intricate networks of underground burrows, communicate with one another, and even climb trees, but poor Phil is denied all of that for a tired old gimmick,” Newkirk argued.

PETA told Fox News Digital that it has not received a response from the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, and called for the organization to develop “kinder, innovative” traditions that make animals happy.

PETA SUGGESTS REPLACING PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL GROUNDHOG WITH GIANT GOLD COIN: ‘CRUEL ANNUAL GIMMICK IS ABUSIVE’

“Our letter suggests the groundhog club demonstrate true respect for Phil and set a wonderful example for how everyone can move beyond ‘Groundhog’ Day by replacing him with a delicious vegan ‘Weather Reveal’ cake that revelers can enjoy as an alternative to exploiting wild animals,” a spokesperson explained. “The time is long overdue.”

PETA has called for Groundhog Day alternatives in the past, including offering to send a giant gold coin to replace the animal in 2024.

Groundhog Day has been celebrated in the U.S. since 1887. Thousands of observers flock to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, every year on Feb. 2 to see Phil predict the weather.

Tradition dictates that if Phil sees his shadow at daybreak and runs away, six more weeks of winter will follow. However, if he has no shadow, spring will arrive sooner.

In 2024, Phil announced that he did not see his shadow, marking a rare prediction for an early spring.

PETA, the animal rights organization, is calling for an end to the Groundhog Day tradition and for Punxsutawney Phil to be retired in favor of a cake alternative.

The organization argues that the annual tradition of pulling a groundhog out of its burrow to predict the weather is stressful and harmful to the animal. Instead, they suggest celebrating Groundhog Day with a cake that resembles Punxsutawney Phil, allowing people to enjoy the festivities without causing harm to wildlife.

PETA hopes that by retiring Punxsutawney Phil and replacing him with a cake alternative, the Groundhog Day tradition can continue in a more humane and compassionate way. Let’s hope that this proposal gains traction and that we can celebrate this holiday without causing harm to animals.

FORT WORTH – TCU Athletics will retire the jersey of Desmond Bane at a halftime ceremony during TCU’s men’s basketball game with Texas Tech on Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.

A two-time All-Big 12 Conference selection, Bane played four seasons at TCU from 2016-2020. He left TCU a college graduate and the Horned Frogs’ all-time leader in 3-pointers (249), wins (84) and games played (141). Bane also ranks third all-time in points with 1,784, third with 659 made field goals and fifth with a 3-point percentage of 43.3.

Starting as a zero-star recruit from Seton Catholic High School in Richmond, Ind., Bane helped TCU win the 2017 NIT as a freshman, the program’s first postseason championship. As a sophomore, he helped TCU make its first NCAA Tournament in 20 years while averaging 12.5 points and leading the Big 12 in 3-point accuracy at 46.1 percent.

As a junior, Bane was All-Big 12 Second Team by the league’s coaches and Associated Press and was USBWA All-District VII as he averaged 15.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists. His 1,315 minutes played was the most in program history.

As a senior in 2019-20, Bane averaged 16.6 points, which ranked second in the Big 12. He also finished with 6.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists on the way to becoming the first TCU player to earn All-Big 12 First Team as he was recognized by both the coaches and Associated Press. He also earned USBWA All-District VII and NABC All-District 8 honors.

Bane, who played in a Big 12 leading 36.02 minutes per game as a senior, never missed a game in his career and missed just one practice in his four years.

Bane was the second player in program history to be selected in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft as he was the 30th overall selection to the Boston Celtics, which traded the rights to Memphis. He’s currently in his fifth season with the Grizzlies. Last season, he averaged a career-best 23.7 points per game and shot 38.1 from 3-point range.
