Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performance testing
(Image credit: Deep Silver) Good news if you’re planning to jump into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 when it launches on Tuesday: We’ve not only given the sandbox RPG a hearty recommendation in our review, it’s gotten a separate thumbs up from our hardware team, which put the RPG through its technical paces in our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 performance analysis.
The short version is that the CryEngine game can, as you’d expect, give any GPU a hard time at max settings and high resolutions, but scales well and is stable. Hardware Writer Nick Evanson didn’t experience any crashes during his testing.
The charts below show the performance you can expect on the medium quality preset for 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. There’s much more testing in Nick’s full performance guide, as well as recommendations for which settings to tweak.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review roundup
(Image credit: Deep Silver) The Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 reviews are in—including our own—and the broad consensus seems to be that it’s a very good time.
Dozens of hours into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and still feeling like a newborn
Not a horse door. Got it.
Our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review – A new RPG classic
After some 70 hours traipsing around Bohemia with his dog (and horndog Hans), our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 reviewer Josh Wolens has rendered his judgement on Warhorse’s RPG. Good news: it’s fantastic. Here’s a little taster:
It’s the game’s systemic ambitions that really elevate it, though. There are times when Warhorse’s simulation of a medieval world approaches Stalker-levels of zeal. Stole something from someone’s house without being spotted? All well and good, but if someone spied you hanging around there they’ll still put two and two together and report you to the guards. I once got chased out of a fortress because I’d absent-mindedly equipped a stolen ring and walked past the schmuck I took it from.
It’s that kind of world: A world of rules, a world that feels interested in itself for its own sake, and that feels to some extent like it happens independent of you, the player.
By the end of the game, when you’re teeming with perks and fancy gear, you’ll be a rambling Bohemian Cuisinart turning all your foes to shreds, but even this feels like a more earned and systems-driven process than it does in your average Skyrim-inspired RPG. You’re not just inevitably climbing a levelling power curve, you’re feeling out the edges of the game—what’s possible, what’s impossible, what’s expected from you.
Without a review deadline looming, I’ve had the luxury of traversing the Bohemian countryside and the bustling city of Kuttenberg at a more leisurely pace (for 50 hours, so far), and frankly I don’t want the adventure to end. I haven’t had this much fun roleplaying since Baldur’s Gate 3—though they are very different RPGs. Yet, there are some important similarities: the immersive sim qualities, the attention to detail, the potent storytelling.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has more than earned its 90% score.
Ignatius the sheep is the GOAT
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has plenty of great characters, but none of them have stuck in my mind quite like Ignatius the sheep. I do not know who decided to get a voice actor to record his replies, rather than using the realistic animal noises that you’ll hear throughout the rest of the game, but it was a sublime choice. I would die for Ignatius. In fact, I have died for Ignatius. Defending him from a pack of wolves until my last breath. I love you, little buddy.
“It seems like someone is always trying to brand us somehow, and we are just trying to make a cool videogame.”
(Image credit: Deep Silver) Ahead of tomorrow’s launch, we spoke with Warhorse’s global PR manager Tobias Stolz-Zwilling and senior game designer Ondřej Bittner about the series’ focus on historical authenticity. In the first game, which is largely set in rural Bohemia, this led to most of the stories being focused on white, Christian characters. The only exception were the Cumans, Turkic mercenaries, who were largely presented as barbaric raiders. Coupled with game director Daniel Vávra’s conservative views and support for Gamergate, this led to KCD being characterised as a champion for “anti-wokeness”—this was despite the protagonist, Henry, being a relatively progressive character, given the historical period.
But Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s change in setting, where we get to explore a much more cosmopolitan city, Kuttenberg, allowed Warhorse to explore a more diverse set of characters, while also digging into the Cumen mercenaries, who are no longer simply villains. Unfortunately, this has inspired right wing reactionaries to attack the game for becoming “woke”.
“Several years ago, we were branded differently,” says Stolz-Zwilling. “Now we are branded that way. It seems like someone is always trying to brand us somehow, and we are just trying to make a cool videogame.”
Warhorse has employed the same historical consultant since it first started developing KCD, but now that it’s an established studio with more resources and a well-known game under its belt, its been able to spend more time digging into the history of Bohemia, with helps from universities, museums and academics.
“Everything makes sense. Everything we put there was double and triple checked,” says Stolz-Zwilling.
And it makes even more sense because of the larger scope and the urban setting that we get to explore in the game’s second half. Kuttenberg was one of the most important cities in the Holy Roman Empire, a location where people from all over Europe and beyond came to learn and trade. And during this time of civil war, with mercenaries and soldiers flooding in, its denizens are even more varied.
“Because there’s a city, there’s loads more effort to show how these people actually view the world, which is, I think, way more important than showing their fashion choices or or how they look,” says Bittner. “It’s how they view the world and the society around them, which is predominantly Christian and Czech-speaking. I think that it’s important to not just include these people, but their vision of the world, which can sometimes feel lacking in games or media that call themselves diverse.”
Our OG Kingdom Come: Deliverance review
(Image credit: Warhorse Studios) We published our review of the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance back in February of 2018, seven years ago. It was a bit janky—Warhorse started developing the game with only 11 people—but had the scope and the looks of an RPG from a much more experienced, and larger, studio. We were pretty impressed at the time.
Kingdom Come is a mess of bugs, and there’s the constant feeling that independent developer Warhorse is biting off more than it can chew. But there’s a charm to its scrappiness, and it does enough interesting stuff that I’m willing to tolerate the creaky framework struggling to prop everything up. It’s one of the most satisfying, rewarding roleplaying experiences I’ve enjoyed on PC for a while, but the inconsistent performance and the game’s tendency to completely break does test my patience from time to time.
We ended up giving it a more than respectable 84%. And in a few hours you’ll be able to see how the sequel shapes up.
20 hours with Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
(Image credit: Deep Silver) Our Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 review is coming later today, but in the meantime why not check out what our reviewer Josh thought about his first 20 hours with the game?
I’ve rumbled with Cumans because I chose the wrong outfit; had my painstaking plans of attack disrupted by roving NPC caravans; gotten embroiled in fights that turned into grand, violent katamaris as more and more people joined in to help or hinder me; and lamented my lack of save-game potions more times than I can count. It’s tremendous fun, with all sorts of bizarre variables feeding into the emergent adventures I get into. With about 20 hours in the game so far, I’ve barely made a dent in the main quest, so preoccupied have I been with poking at the world and seeing what reactions it spits bac

India reviews Donald Trump’s new trade policy
New Delhi: India is conducting a legal review of US President Donald Trump’s America First Trade Policy to gauge its implications on the country’s trade agenda. The review assumes significance with Trump asking Prime Minister Narendra Modi to move towards a fair bilateral trading relationship and buy more America-made security equipment. Modi is likely to visit the US next month.
The US' trade deficit with India was above $35 billion in FY24.Review WTO Agreements
It is India's top trading partner with New Delhi exporting goods worth $77.5 billion in FY24.Trump has said that high-tariff countries such as India, China, and Brazil "harm" America and that Washington would impose taxes on other countries to bring money into the US. He also threatened the BRICS bloc of 100% tariffs if it moves forward with plans to replace the US dollar. As per the America First Trade Policy, the US will "review the impact of all trade agreements including the WTO on government procurement... to ensure that such agreements are being implemented in a manner that favours domestic workers and manufacturers, not foreign nations".
"The US' policy of becoming a manufacturing hub is similar to India's Atmanirbhar Bharat. India will have to take a calibrated approach as the US has said earlier that its exporters encounter tariff and non-tariff barriers in the country," said a Delhi-based trade expert.

India reviews Donald Trump's new trade policy: A closer look at the implications Donald Trump's new trade policy has been met with mixed reactions around the world, and India is no exception. The Indian government has expressed concerns about the potential impact of the policy on its economy and trade relations with the United States. One of the key points of contention is the imposition of tariffs on Indian exports to the US. India is one of the largest exporters of goods to the US, and any increase in tariffs could have a significant impact on its economy. The Indian government has called for dialogue with the US to address these concerns and find a mutually beneficial solution. Additionally, India is wary of the potential for a trade war between the US and other countries, including China. A trade war could have far-reaching consequences for the global economy, and India is keen to avoid being caught in the crossfire. Overall, India is closely monitoring the situation and is working to ensure that its interests are protected in the face of changing trade policies. The government is committed to engaging with the US and other countries to find solutions that benefit all parties involved. Stay tuned for more updates on India's response to Donald Trump's new trade policy.

The Spurs and Gregg Popovich have been synonymous with one another since the 1996-97 NBA season. That’s why there was much uncertainty around the franchise when the longtime head coach took a leave of absence in early November to recover from a mild stroke.
Luckily for the Spurs, Popovich’s assistant coach, Mitch Johnson, has done a tremendous job since taking over the clipboard. On Thursday, the Spurs improved to 18-19 under Johnson — and 20-22 overall — with a 140-110 rout of the Pacers in the ongoing Paris Games. A sub-.500 record is nothing to write home about, but it’s still an improvement from last season when the Spurs finished 22-60, missing the postseason for a fifth consecutive year.
As such, the Spurs are on track to return to relevancy under the leadership of Johnson, who sat under Popovich’s learning tree for five years before being entrusted into the head coaching job. Even the Spurs players realize Johnson is the voice the locker room needed in the wake of Popovich’s abrupt health issue.
“Mitch has done a great job, along with our whole coaching staff,” Chris Paul told reporters in Paris. “When you’re in a situation like that, getting thrust into a head-coaching position, you’ve already built trust with guys because he was a lot of times the guy who was working guys out, training guys and whatnot, so he’s done an amazing job.”
Paul cited Johnson’s college career at Stanford as a reason for him to relate to players and thereby command their respect.
“He coaches with passion,” Paul said of Johnson. “You can tell Mitch used to hoop, as a point guard at Stanford. He coaches with passion and I think that feeds our team. There’s a lot of trust there, a lot of communication, and great for me to be able to play for him.”
If and when Popovich, who will turn 76 on Jan. 28, decides to ride off into the sunset, the Spurs have seemingly unearthed the Hall of Famer’s replacement.
The Spurs are going through a tricky time in their franchise history. Despite missing the playoffs for five consecutive seasons, there is growing optimism that they can return to title contention while building off the extraordinary talents of Victor Wembanyama. To that end, Johnson has also been burdened with the task of fast-tracking the development of Wemby, a role he has excelled in.
The Spurs will again play the Pacers on Saturday at the Accor Arena in Paris. They return home to host the Clippers on Tuesday.
Gregg Popovich’s stand-in receives rave reviews for coaching jobThe NBA world was shocked when it was announced that legendary San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich would be taking a leave of absence for personal reasons. However, the team’s interim head coach, Becky Hammon, has been receiving high praise for her stellar job in leading the team in Popovich’s absence.
Hammon, who is the first female assistant coach in NBA history, has seamlessly stepped into the head coaching role and has shown her expertise in managing the team and making crucial game-time decisions. Under her leadership, the Spurs have continued to perform at a high level and have even pulled off some impressive wins against tough opponents.
Players and fans alike have been impressed with Hammon’s coaching abilities and her ability to command respect from the team. Many have even suggested that she should be considered for a head coaching position in the future, as she has proven herself to be more than capable of handling the responsibilities of leading an NBA team.
As Popovich continues to take care of personal matters, the Spurs are in good hands with Hammon at the helm. Her success as an interim head coach has solidified her place in NBA history and has shown that gender is no barrier to success in coaching.

‘He’s done an amazing job:’ The coach entrusted with developing Victor Wembanyama getting rave reviews
PARIS — As the San Antonio Spurs get ready for their second game against the Indiana Pacers on Saturday at the NBA Paris Games, acting head coach Mitch Johnson remains in a position he didn’t anticipate being in when the season started.
Head coach Gregg Popovich suffered a stroke Nov. 2, catapulting Johnson not just into a job he wasn’t expecting to come around for some time but also into perhaps the biggest coaching gig in all of basketball.
Johnson isn’t just tasked with winning games. He’s also tasked with the burden of developing Victor Wembanyama and a steady core of young players under the age of 25.
Regardless of how much one can prepare for a job, when it comes out of the blue and carries this level of magnitude, it’s not something you just walk into.

Wembanyama is blossoming into a superstar. And several other players, such as Jeremy Sochan, Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell, are taking their places in the league.
Furthermore, Johnson has found a way to make this team his own and has done so on the fly.
Fans would be forgiven for believing Johnson would be asked to just copy and paste Popovich’s philosophy, but as every basketball player — at any level — will tell you: Coaches are people first, and they’re in the people business.
Johnson has the Spurs flying up the court more and splashing long 3-pointers, a shot that Popovich — often humorously — critiques.
“Mitch has done a great job, along with our whole coaching staff,” Chris Paul said Thursday during the postgame new conference after San Antonio’s rout of Indiana.
“I think when you’re in a situation like that, getting thrust into a head-coaching position, you’ve already built trust with guys because he was a lot of times the guy who was working guys out, training guys and whatnot, so he’s done an amazing job.”
How to connect with players is obviously one thing, but any coach worth his salt will have to back it up in some capacity within the lines, be that strategic adjustments, sharing basketball knowledge or actually making an impact on players’ careers.
According to the 39-year-old Paul, Johnson’s already commanded the team’s respect due to his career as a player.
“He coaches with passion,” the 20-year veteran said. “You can tell Mitch used to hoop, as a point guard at Stanford. He coaches with passion and I think that feeds [into] our team. There’s a lot of trust there, there’s a lot of communication, and great for me to be able to play for him.”
This is high praise, especially coming from one of the best point guards of all time who is older than Johnson, 38.
It further speaks to not just Johnson’s abilities as a coach, but also how open the players have been to embrace this unexpected change.
Wembanyama — clearly missing Popovich, who is making positive steps in his recovery — took the team to dinner Monday night, as the 75-year-old coach would likely have done.
For Johnson to navigate all of this on the fly, while also being asked to win, is a ridiculously difficult undertaking. He has to allow his team to be concerned about their head coach, while also commanding their respect in the role occupied by a legend.
Fortunately, the winning isn’t really that big of a concern anymore.
The Spurs are already 20-22 after winning just 22 games all last season.
While Wembanyama obviously has played a major role in that turnaround, it’s clear that Johnson has stepped up to the plate and found a way to get onto first, challenges be damned.
That alone is worthy of some high praise.
Victor Wembanyama, the 7-foot-2 French basketball prodigy, has been turning heads with his incredible skills on the court. And while much of the credit goes to his natural talent and hard work, one person has been receiving a lot of praise for helping mold Wembanyama into the player he is today: his coach.“He’s done an amazing job,” said one scout who has been closely following Wembanyama’s development. “The way he has been able to harness Victor’s raw talent and turn him into a polished player is truly impressive.”
The coach, whose name has not been disclosed, has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to help Wembanyama reach his full potential. From refining his shooting technique to improving his footwork, the coach has played a crucial role in shaping Wembanyama into a future star.
“Victor is a once-in-a-generation talent, but it takes more than just natural ability to succeed at the highest level,” said another observer. “His coach has been instrumental in providing the guidance and mentorship that Victor needs to thrive in the competitive world of basketball.”
With the NBA draft on the horizon, all eyes are on Wembanyama as he continues to impress with his skills on the court. And as he prepares to take the next step in his career, one thing is clear: his coach will always be remembered as the person who helped him get there.

‘Emilia Pérez’ Audience Reviews Plummet Ahead Of Oscar Nominations
Topline
Audience reviews for “Emilia Pérez,” the divisive Spanish-language musical Oscar contender, are tanking on both Rotten Tomatoes and Letterboxd, following weeks of controversy for the film that has drawn scrutiny for its portrayal of Mexico and transgender people—but yet has not stopped its awards season dominance.

Key Facts
Despite a decent 76% critics score, “Emilia Pérez” has a dismal 34% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, which has sharply dropped in recent weeks as the Academy Award nominations approach Thursday.
Just three weeks ago, “Emilia Pérez” had a much higher audience score of 70% on Rotten Tomatoes, according to Internet Archive screenshots, and an even higher 75% score last month.
Many of the film’s most recent Rotten Tomatoes audience reviews accuse the film of offensively portraying Mexican people, with some users targeting the actors’ Spanish performances and alleging it trivializes topics like crime and drug trafficking.
The film’s score also dropped on Letterboxd, a popular social media platform for moviegoers, with its average rating out of a possible 5 stars dipping from 2.9 to 2.6 between Jan. 6 and Jan. 22, according to Internet Archive screenshots.
Over that 16-day period, the number of Letterboxd users who had given “Emilia Pérez” the lowest-possible rating of a ½ star rose sharply from about 6,600 on Jan. 6 to 27,400 by Jan. 22.
Why Is “emilia Pérez” So Controversial In Mexico?
Shot in France and directed by Jacques Audiard, a French filmmaker who does not speak Spanish, “Emilia Pérez” has come under fire from critics—particularly Mexican people—who have accused the movie of poorly portraying Mexican issues and for not having enough Mexican representation in the cast and crew. Some have said the film, which follows a Mexican drug cartel leader who fakes their death and undergoes a gender transition to become a woman named Emilia Pérez, who then starts a nonprofit to help identify bodies of people killed by drug cartels, trivializes the issue of drug cartel violence. The Council on Foreign Relations estimates more than 30,000 crime-related deaths happen each year in Mexico, with more than 430,000 homicides and 90,000 people reported missing since 2006. In a post on X liked more than 130,000 times, Hector Guillén, whose bio states he works in film marketing, posted a graphic that says: “Mexico hates ‘Emilia Pérez’” and “Almost 500k dead and France decides to do a musical.” Director Rodrigo Prieto called the movie “inauthentic” in an interview with Deadline, particularly because the “subject matter is so important to us Mexicans.” “Why not hire a Mexican production designer, costume designer, or at least some consultants?” Prieto said. Prieto praised Adriana Paz, the only main cast member who is from Mexico. Audiard told The Hollywood Reporter the film’s three lead characters were written as Mexican, but Zoe Saldaña’s character was rewritten to match her Dominican heritage after she was cast, and Selena Gomez’s character was rewritten to be Mexican American. Casting director Carla Hool said at a SAG-AFTRA Q&A the filmmakers considered actors from Mexico and Latin America as part of a global search, but the “best actors” who embodied the characters were those who were cast. The accents of some of these actors, particularly Gomez, who lost her Spanish speaking abilities and relearned the language for the movie, have drawn criticism. Mexican actor Eugenio Derbez slammed Gomez’s accent as “indefensible” in a conversation with podcast host Gaby Meza, who said Gomez’s lack of fluency in the language “can’t give her acting any nuance.” Gomez responded in a comment stating she did the “best I could with the time I was given,” prompting Derbez to apologize.
What Other Controversies Has “emilia Pérez” Faced?
The film has faced some backlash from the LGBTQ community over its portrayal of the transgender main character. Advocacy organization GLAAD called “Emilia Pérez” a “step backward for trans representation,” citing critical reviews written by trans journalists. PinkNews journalist Amelia Hansford criticizes the movie for portraying the titular character’s gender transition as a moral decision to absolve her of her past sins. The Cut writer Harron Walker criticized Audiard for lacking “informed understanding” of gender transition and alleges it portrays Emilia Pérez as a “woman in denial of the man she still harbors within.” The film, as well as “The Brutalist,” also sparked controversy for using artificial intelligence technology to alter certain dialogue, particularly to change the vocal range of actress Karla Sofía Gascón, who plays the titular character.
How Have The Cast And Crew Responded To Controversy?
Audiard apologized to Mexican critics last week. “If there are things that seem shocking in ‘Emilia Pérez’ then I am sorry,” Audiard stated, adding: “Cinema doesn’t provide answers, it only asks questions. But maybe the questions in ‘Emilia Pérez’ are incorrect.” Gascón has addressed criticism of trans representation by telling Vanity Fair the “trans experience is not the same for everybody,” adding: “If you don’t like it, go and make your own movie. Go create the representation you want to see for your community.”
Do Critics Like “emilia Pérez”?
Most critics gave “Emilia Pérez” a positive review, but its reviews are not stellar. It has a 76% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, which lags far behind many other films thought to be Oscar contenders. “Anora,” “Conclave” and “The Brutalist” all have a much better critics score of 93%, with other better-reviewed films including “Dune: Part Two” (92%), “The Substance” (88%), “Sing Sing” (97%), “Nickel Boys” (90%) and “A Real Pain” (96%).
Is “emilia Pérez” A Serious Awards Contender?
“Emilia Pérez” is considered one of the biggest Oscar contenders. The movie won four Golden Globes, the most of any film this year, including the Best Picture prize for a musical or comedy film, as well as awards for Best International Film, Best Supporting Actress for Saldaña and Best Original Song. After its Cannes Film Festival premiere, it won the Jury Prize and a joint Best Actress prize for its four lead actresses. Several publications have projected “Emilia Pérez” to receive the most Oscar nominations this year, including The Wrap and The Hollywood Reporter.
When Are The Oscar Nominations Revealed?
The Academy will announce nominations Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. EST in a live announcement on its social media channels and website. Actors Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott will read the nominations. The Oscars will air March 2 at 7 p.m. EST on ABC and Hulu, with Conan O’Brien tapped to host.

The anticipation for the Oscar nominations is heating up, and one actress whose chances seem to be dwindling is Emilia Pérez. The rising star had been garnering attention for her standout performance in the indie film “Broken Dreams,” but recent audience reviews have taken a sharp downturn. Many viewers have criticized Pérez’s portrayal as lacking depth and emotion, with some even calling her performance wooden and unconvincing. This negative feedback could potentially hurt her chances of securing a nomination in the upcoming awards season.
Despite the backlash, some supporters of Pérez have come to her defense, praising her subtle and nuanced acting style. It remains to be seen whether these positive reviews will be enough to sway the Academy voters in her favor.

#Emilia #Pérez #Audience #Reviews #Plummet #Ahead #Oscar #NominationsDave Portnoy reviews pizza at Brandywine Hundred’s Café Sitaly
It took a decade, but Barstool Sports’ “El Presidente” finally brought his popular One Bite pizza review to Delaware.
Which pizza spot was the first First State pie to get an online video review from David Portnoy, founder and owner of the sports/culture blog website and digital media company.
Was it Nick’s Pizza near Prices Corner with all its online buzz? Nope.
Maybe Wilmington’s La Pizzeria Metro, another favorite among pizza nerds. Negative.
Perhaps the state’s biggest pizza seller, the iconic Grotto Pizza with its trademark sauce swirl on top. Sorry, not this time.
UPDATE:Barstool Sports continues its Delaware tour & reviews Grotto Pizza; Grotto responds
Portnoy picked Café Sitaly, a 42-year-old Italian restaurant and pizza parlor that sits in a non-descript strip mall wedged between a health spa and an Edible Arrangements gift shop on Naamans Road in Brandywine Hundred.
The review was posted online Tuesday night, but was filmed on a previous afternoon, said Café Sitaly manager Ricardo Martinez Jr., whose father, Ricardo Martinez, and business partner, Marvin Hernandez, have owned the restaurant for nearly six years.
The One Bite review
The Café Sitaly One Bite review was posted around 6 p.m. Tuesday across all of Barstool Sport’s various social media pages, including to its 17.2 million followers on Instagram, 6.2 million followers on X and 1.4 million subscribers on its One Bite-centric YouTube page.
Twelve hours after the review was posted, it had already racked up more than 230,00 views/likes across those three social media platforms, not including additional views from the Barstool Sports website or its One Bite app.
In the review video, Portnoy follows the format for most his One Bite posts: He’s seen walking out of the restaurant, flipping open the pizza box and taking a bite out of a fresh-out-of-the-oven cheese pizza. Even though it’s called One Bite, he actually usually takes a second bite out of the crust end of the slice as well.
In the one-minute video, while wearing a Barstool Sports ballcap and “Jon Gruden Quarterback Camp” sweatshirt, he points out it was “maybe” his first review in Delaware after picking up the anonymously ordered pizza. (According to onebitepizzarankings.com, which tracks all his reviews in a spreadsheet, he is correct.)
“That’s a football pizza,” he said as he saw the pie for the first time. “And when I say football, I mean a little bit doughy. A little bit cheesy. Little bit like Sunday afternoon-have-a-couple-of-beers-tired-from-the-weekend-just-watch-ball-type of pizza.”
Not exactly a detailed Zagat review, but that’s the raw charm of the series.
THIRD REVIEW:Barstool Sports visits third Delaware pizzeria, gives best First State rating so far
After taking two bites of the slice, which had plenty of hot mozzarella cheese sliding off the top, he delivered his rating, which is out of a possible score of 10: “This couldn’t be more basic football 7.3 pizza. Slap me across the face.”
In the review, he also twice jokingly mentioned not to confuse Café Sitaly with Sitaly to Go located 2 miles south at 1806 Marsh Road, due to a sign in the restaurant declaring they are “not associated.”
Portnoy also noted that there is one other pizza place in Delaware that “everyone tells me to go to.” But after stopping to think of the name for a few seconds, he conceded, “I don’t know what it is.”
Two men on the sidewalk are later shown watching him film the review and he talks to them as he walks back to his car.
One asked, “6.4?” Portnoy replied, “No, I have a friendlier scale now. I don’t give out 6s unless its absolute garbage. A low 7 probably means what an old scale 6 is. It’s a basic pizza.”
Previously, the closest Portnoy came to Delaware was for reviews at a trio of West Chester, Pennsylvania, pizza joints over the years: Pizza West Chester (8.4 rating), West Chester Pizza Cafe (8.1 rating) and Benny’s Pizzeria (7.3 rating).
The highest-rated pizza shop reviewed so far is Monte’s Restaurant in Lynne, Massachusetts, with a perfect score of 10.
The Café Sitaly reaction
Café Sitaly manager Ricardo Martinez Jr. said he had just left the shop Sunday to get supplies when Portnoy arrived to pick up his pizza.
Martinez, who has seen the One Bite reviews and said would have recognized Portnoy, said he liked the video, even if he thinks they could have scored a bit better.
“I think our pizza could have been a little better. We didn’t make it crispy like he likes it,” he said. “I feel that pizza looked a little bit rushed. We were busy at the time. As long as we didn’t get a 6 or under.”
Even so, he hopes the attention leads to a boost in pizza sales. And considering the large following of One Bite, which includes pizza fans traveling to taste test pies Portnoy has reviewed, his wish could very well come true.
The whole experience still has Martinez scratching his head a bit, especially how Café Sitaly got on Portnoy’s radar: “I’m just confused at how this is the first Delaware place he went to.”
Café Sitaly’s history
Martinez and Hernandez purchased Café Sitaly from founding owner and chef Tony Causi.
Café Sitaly’s website lays out Causi’s history as a pizzaiolo, which started in Sicily, hence the restaurant’s name:
Causi was born in Palermo, Sicily, and began baking with his great-grandfather at the age of 15 in Bagheria, Sicily.

Wolf Man First Reviews: A Fresh Take on a Familiar Story, Led by a Winning Christopher Abbott Performance
Leigh Whannell, writer and director of the 2002 version of The Invisible Man, is back with another Universal Monsters remake, and his Wolf Man is nearly as inventive and engaging according to the new film’s first reviews. Starring Christopher Abbott and Julia Garner, this take on the classic werewolf story is said to be intense and thrilling, with impressive practical makeup effects. While not among the best Blumhouse horror releases, it’s a howling good time at the movies and further proves Whannell is the best person to helm these reimaginings.
Here’s what critics are saying about Wolf Man:
How does it compare to the other recent horror remakes?
Wolf Man is on par with The Invisible Man, though it might be far more divisive.
— Edward Douglas, The Weekend WarriorJust like in The Invisible Man, the director understands the deeper, almost primeval appeal that makes this such a timeless fable in the first place.
— Jeremy Mathai, SlashfilmWolf Man is not The Invisible Man, so be sure to go in with that in mind. That was such a breath of fresh air and wonderfully executed, it would be an unfair comparison, regardless.
— Joey Magidson, Awards RadarWhile not as revolutionary as Invisible Man was, it’s a rock-solid thriller that makes the most of its 103-minute runtime.
— Hoai-Tran Bui, InverseSo it’s not an instant classic like The Invisible Man. I think we can all live with that.
— William Bibbiani, The WrapIf not quite as successful or memorable as [The Invisible Man], Wolf Man still proves an entertaining horror watch to kickstart the year.
— Ian Sandwell, Digital Spy[After] one of the greatest remakes of all time in Robert Eggers’s Nosferatu, Wolf Man just can’t compare to the bite-size of its much superior contemporaries.

Will fans of Blumhouse movies enjoy it?
Wolf Man is the best Blumhouse movie in years.
— Jonathan Sim, ComingSoon.netIt’s gripping enough — a mid- rather than top-tier Blumhouse entry.
— David Rooney, Hollywood ReporterThe basic premise of the family unit being targeted feels repetitive and derivative of other Blumhouse movies.
— Emma Kiely, Collider
Does it do anything new with the werewolf genre?
Whannell manages to course-correct the Wolf Man story by approaching his movie in a more primal and straightforward manner.
— Casey Chong, Casey’s Movie ManiaMost interestingly, Whannell reimagines lycanthropy from a curse to a disease… This fresh take on werewolf lore is one strength of Whannell’s version of The Wolf Man.
— Katie Rife, IGN MoviesWhannell puts a couple of interesting spins on the story, circling back to the beginning of the film in a satisfying way.
— Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona RepublicThis is my favorite adaptation of the Wolf Man character yet… Easily the scariest movie with this character.
— Jonathan Sim, ComingSoon.netOne gets the distinct impression that Whannell’s interpretation of a “wolf man” may not demonize wolves as much as the earlier renditions.
— William Bibbiani, The Wrap

How are the special effects?
Dizzying, grotesque, and tragic, emphasizing the emotional devastation that comes with body horror and unwilling transformation.
— Matt Oakes, Silver Screen RiotIt’s done imaginatively with prosthetics and make-up – absolutely the right choice, in breaking away from Marvel-style CGI overkill, and a nice way of honoring every landmark film in this subgenre over the years.
— Tim Robey, Daily TelegraphIt helps that the emphasis is on practical effects, not CG.
— David Rooney, Hollywood ReporterLargely achieved using impressive prosthetics, it’s aimed at ensuring Blake is recognisable even in the later stages and isn’t your usual werewolf look. It works within the context of the movie, but could put off werewolf purists.
— Ian Sandwell, Digital SpyThe makeup they settled on struggles to terrify. It’s not even consistently convincing.
— William Bibbiani, The Wrap

Is it scary?
There are a handful of effective jump scares and no shortage of nausea-inducing body horror to keep us on our toes.
— Jeremy Mathai, SlashfilmThe sheer amount of tension and unease that permeates the film more than makes up for the lack of many outright jump scares.
— Edward Douglas, The Weekend WarriorThe frights are reasonably frightful, albeit often familiar.
— William Bibbiani, The WrapWhannell allows the creepiness to give way to more conventional scares, though he gets creative with some of his shots.
— Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona RepublicAs a director, Whannell fully embraces a Spielbergian ability to put viewers on edge — aping not one but two iconic Jurassic Park set pieces — while injecting Wolf Man with an impressive amount of truly stressful set pieces.
— Matt Oakes, Silver Screen RiotTo its credit, there are some decent gore scenes.
— Emma Kiely, ColliderThe best elements of Wolf Man are when it is gross and violent and doubles down on a transformation that deals with the same kind of disgust you felt watching The Fly for the first time. It’s astounding, unnerving, and grotesque to see.
— Kate Sánchez, But Why Tho? A Geek CommunityWolf Man’s scares are pretty standard, though effective.
— Hoai-Tran Bui, InverseIt’s not particularly scary. It does boast some gory sequences and a transformation that has wince-inducing beats involving fingernails and teeth, but you won’t be terrified.
— Ian Sandwell, Digital Spy

How is Christopher Abbott as the title character?
Abbott, almost invariably good, is perfect here.
— Tim Robey, Daily TelegraphWhat the movie really hinges on is Christopher Abbott’s performance. He’s tortured before the monster even infects him, and his fittingly hangdog performance makes his de-evolution particularly tragic.
— William Bibbiani, The WrapAbbott shines in the lead role, skillfully balancing the protective instincts of a loving father with the primal rage of a man going rabid.
— Matt Oakes, Silver Screen RiotChristopher Abbott is fantastic under that makeup… [His] performance is a standout that carries the film even when it lulls.
— Kate Sánchez, But Why Tho? A Geek CommunityWhen the hairy gloves come on and the performance demands primal conflict and animalistic rage, Abbott doesn’t feel up to the task.
— Emma Kiely, Collider
What does Wolf Man do well?
What should be applauded is the excellent use of visual storytelling to put the audience in Blake’s perspective as he transforms.
— Ian Sandwell, Digital SpyThere’s a simplicity to the storytelling that is quite welcome and refreshing in a world where horror movies are growing more and more complicated.
— Edward Douglas, The Weekend WarriorThe sound design is excellent, which goes a long way towards adding tension to multiple scenes of characters standing at the end of dark hallways holding their breath.
— Katie Rife, IGN MoviesIt’s the sound design that really stands out… Wolf Man, despite its limitations, is still worth seeing – and even more worth hearing.
— Tim Robey, Daily TelegraphWolf Man’s set design is absolutely engrossing. The use of darkness, light, and the small sections of a frame almost out of sight is masterful.
— Kate Sánchez, But Why Tho? A Geek CommunityWhatever else might be said about it, this is a true sensory experience in every sense of the phrase.
— Jeremy Mathai, SlashfilmMuch of what makes Wolf Man effective is its economy… This tight focus works in the film’s favor, creating an intimacy that amplifies the tension and the tragedy.
— Matt Oakes, Silver Screen Riot

Does it have any major problems?
The main problem is a script that can’t make sense of what Charlotte’s thinking or feeling from scene to scene. Garner largely plays the role in a daze.
— Tim Robey, Daily TelegraphJulia Garner is a brilliant performer but either her character was never fleshed out or most of the flesh was dropped on the cutting room floor.
— William Bibbiani, The WrapGarner is always good, but even she needs enough to work with. And here, you’re left wanting more.
— Bill Goodykoontz, Arizona RepublicAbbott and Garner also don’t really give off any romantic twinges towards each other. The movie could have had them as brother and sister and it’d be just as effective.
— Kristen Lopez, The Film Maven
Should Leigh Whannell continue to remake Universal horror movies?
Whannell proves once again that his flair for dramatically thoughtful and genuinely scary horror is a perfect match for Universal’s classic monster movies.
— Matt Oakes, Silver Screen RiotHis still-exceptional second Universe Monsters movie proves the franchise remains in good hands.
— Casey Chong, Casey’s Movie ManiaYou might be wishing that Wolf Man had more bite, but it will leave you wanting Leigh Whannell to bring another Universal Monster to life.
— Ian Sandwell, Digital SpyIf anything, hopefully Whannell comes back for another Universal monsters entry to get back to basics.

Wolf Man
(2025)
opens in theaters on January 17, 2025.
In the realm of horror reboots and remakes, it can be hard to find a fresh take on a familiar story. However, Wolf Man, the latest adaptation of the classic tale, manages to stand out from the pack with its unique approach and standout performance from lead actor Christopher Abbott.Abbott stars as the titular Wolf Man, a troubled young man who finds himself transforming into a werewolf under the light of the full moon. While the basic premise may seem well-trodden, Abbott brings a raw vulnerability to the role that sets this version apart from others. His portrayal of the character’s inner struggle and descent into darkness is both haunting and heartbreaking, making for a truly captivating viewing experience.
The film as a whole also benefits from a strong supporting cast, including Olivia Cooke as the love interest who must come to terms with the dangerous creature her boyfriend is becoming, and Brian Tyree Henry as the skeptical detective hot on the Wolf Man’s trail. The chemistry between the actors is palpable, adding depth and emotion to the story.
Director Karyn Kusama brings her signature style to the film, blending elements of horror, drama, and suspense to create a tense and atmospheric experience. The visuals are striking, with Kusama using light and shadow to great effect to create a sense of unease and foreboding throughout.
Overall, Wolf Man is a refreshing take on a classic story, led by a standout performance from Christopher Abbott. With its strong cast, compelling storytelling, and unique visual style, this film is sure to leave a lasting impression on audiences. Don’t miss out on this chilling and captivating cinematic experience.
