FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — The New York Jets interviewed former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel on Friday at their facility for the head coaching vacancy, the team announced.
Vrabel, 49, is expected to be among the most coveted candidates in this year’s hiring cycle. He was available this week because his coaching and personnel consulting contract with the Cleveland Browns expired Monday.
Former Jets and Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan will interview with team officials on Tuesday, a source told ESPN. Ryan coached the Jets from 2009 to 2014, compiling a 46-50 record and reaching the postseason in 2009 and 2010. The Jets haven’t reached the playoffs since then — the NFL’s longest active drought at 14 years.
Vrabel was the second known candidate to interview for the vacancy. On Thursday, the Jets met with former Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders coach Ron Rivera.
The Jets are looking to replace Robert Saleh, who was fired Oct. 8 after compiling a 20-36 record in three-plus seasons as the coach. They are 2-9 under interim coach Jeff Ulbrich, who said Friday that he expects to have an opportunity to interview for the job next week.
Vrabel was fired by the Titans on Jan. 9, 2024, after six seasons with the team. He compiled a 54-45 record, making three postseason appearances and going 2-3 in the playoffs. He was 13-21 in his final two seasons in Tennessee, and his firing came a year after the Titans changed general managers, hiring Ran Carthon.
The Jets (4-12) will close out their disappointing season Sunday against the Miami Dolphins — a season that also claimed general manager Joe Douglas, who was fired Nov. 26.
They have already interviewed four candidates for their general manager vacancy: former Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff, former Titans GM Jon Robinson, Reese’s Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy, and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick, who worked in the front offices of the Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles.
The Jets have retained The 33rd Team to provide data analysis and experience in their searches for both positions. Former Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum and former Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman, who served as an adviser for the Commanders’ GM and coaching searches last year, are leading the project for The 33rd Team.
The New York Jets have reportedly interviewed former Titans head coach Mike Vrabel for their vacant head coaching position. The 1 Thing Reba McEntire and Rex Linn Don’t Agree On
A sitcom is nothing without its ensemble cast, and Happy’s Place is no exception. The cast has a deep bench with Reba McEntire returning to sitcoms as Bobbie Jo, who inherits her father’s tavern and finds out about his secret daughter Isabelle (Belissa Escobedo). (McEntire previously starred for many seasons on the hit sitcom Reba.)

Though Happy’s Place is a completely new concept and show from McEntire’s last sitcom, she reunites with Melissa Peterman (Reba, Young Sheldon) and many of the same crew and writers joined as well, according to Escobedo.

“It feels like… being part of a resurgence of sitcom television, and that’s very special ,and so I’m feeling so lucky,” Escobedo said. “Reba is an angel, so it’s awesome to go to work every day and have it be her at the forefront.”
For Castelblanco, one of the biggest joys for an actor is the chance to be doing a multi-cam sitcom.
“You get to rehearse it and then performing in front of a live audience,” Castelblanco explained. “It’s like you’re opening a play every time you tape an episode.”
Working with the cast of Happy’s Place has been a “delight” for him.
“I’m working with great people that are hilarious,” Castelblanco said. “They’re all doing a very specific thing.”
McEntire’s real-life love Rex Linn rounds out the cast as Bobbie’s love interest, the bar’s short-order cook Emmett.
“They’re so cute that they’re gross,” Escobedo joked about the couple’s dynamic on and off set. “No, I’m just kidding, but they are like sickeningly sweet…I love seeing them be happy…I can’t imagine how cool it is to go to work and be able to be with your boo. That’s really sweet.”
Castelblanco called them the “sweetest couple ever.”
“They’re also, like, very supportive of each other,” Castelblanco said. “I feel like they know their tempos really well. Rex loves to rehearse the episodes. I think Reba’s like… waits a little bit more to see what the final lines are gonna be.”
The different methods lead to the actors pushing each other in either direction, Castelblanco explained.
“Like, ‘Oh, you should rehearse more,’ and she’s like, ‘Well, you should wait until the lines…’ and I just love that they’re, like, keeping each other safe and… happy, but then at the same time they’re kind of like…you know they’re a couple,” Castelblanco said.
