  • Cody Rhodes On Plans For John Cena’s Retirement Tour, Relationship With The Rock – PWMania

Cody Rhodes spoke with TheOneMona for an in-depth interview to promote tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble 2025 premium live event in Indianapolis, IN.

Featured below are some of the highlights.

On where he stands with The Rock: “I tell people always when it comes to The Rock and The Final Boss, I think personally that I feel he either sees something special in me and as the head of the board and as him and Nick Khan and Triple H leading us into this next generation, he sees something and wants to push me to go for it. That’s more from a behind-the-scenes perspective, but I also wonder in my own mind sometimes just kind of laying there looking up thinking maybe he hates me, absolutely hates me, and is planning some devious way to get back at me for the things that took place at WrestleMania 40, which he shouldn’t. I mean, the night before I won it all, he actually has a win over me. But I can tell you that I know people don’t love when the curtain gets pulled back too much. Really, really unique outside the box thinker and for a guy who’s been on every movie set, he’s been around the A list. He is A list. He’s walked into every room. I can look in someone’s eyes and know when they have the fever for wrestling when they’re a wrestler.I think we might hate each other, but we’re both wrestlers and I think that’s what the connection is about, it’s the idea that he knows if he puts me in a Macon, Georgia at a live event or somewhere around the country and I’m representing this company, which is also his company, that I won’t leave anybody hanging that I, that I will do my damnedest to deliver. So, yeah, but all that to say, I don’t know where we stand again. The dude could run up on me right now and pop me in the ear and we’d be right back in it, but I don’t know where we stand now. It’ll always be in question, but he’s certainly been helpful to me as champion.”

On possibilities for himself for John Cena’s “The Last Time Is Now” WWE retirement tour: “One thing that’s been on my mind, I think when he announced he was retiring, is a lot of guys jumped to the line of, I want to wrestle John. A lot of guys jumped to the, ‘I want to do something with John.’ I’m probably the one who didn’t hold his hand up and that’s simply because John is everything to me and and there’s been so many guys I’m a product of who i took a little something from. The most that I’ve taken from anybody ever would be from John, and that was from driving those few years of them seeing how he did his interactions with fans, how he would do main events, to see how he did the quarterback , the leader all those things. So when i hear this is it, It’s still not fully for me. I don’t love this is it and I know it is. I know he means it when he says it. But I want to watch like a fan. I almost dread the idea of what that would look like. Because when you’re up against John now, you’re tasked to beat John Cena in his final run and that’s why I’m not raising my hand to be in that spot.”

  • Cody Rhodes Reveals Who He Believes Is The Real Tribal Chief

    Generate Key Takeaways

There are a lot of wrestlers who have laid claim to the Tribal Chief, but Cody Rhodes believes there is only one.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes recently sat down with TheOneMona. When asked who the real Tribal Chief is, Rhodes bestowed Roman Reigns as the real Tribal Chief of WWE.

“Okay, well, from a reality standpoint, him and The Rock are both chiefs, real chiefs. Yeah, and I feel like I might have been naive and maybe a little uncultured, and knowing…it took me a while to kind of catch up. You know, when Mr. Heyman says something you should probably listen and that him going on about the ulafala and stuff.

“I don’t think I really fully got it. And now I’m thinking, like, ‘Oh, it’s not the Million Dollar Title.’ It is it is genuine. It is real. And he represents it so well. They both do so. But who’s the real Tribal Chief? I guess you’d have to say Roman is the real Tribal Chief. I’m not gonna say Solo, a child, petulant child. I’ll say all kinds of bad stuff about Solo….maybe one day [he’ll become Tribal Chief].” [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]

  • Cody Rhodes Isn’t Sure Where He Stands With The Rock, Talks Possibilities For Himself On John Cena’s Retirement Tour

Cody Rhodes continues to make the media rounds heading into the first WWE premium live event of the year this evening, as WWE Royal Rumble 2025 goes down tonight at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

During a recent interview with TheOneMona ahead of tonight’s big event, “The American Nightmare” spoke about where he stands with “The Final Boss” Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, as well as possibilities for himself for “The Last Time Is Now” WWE Retirement Tour of John Cena.

Featured below are some of the highlights from the interview where he touches on these topics with his thoughts.

On where he stands with The Rock: “I tell people always when it comes to The Rock and The Final Boss, I think personally that I feel he either sees something special in me and as the head of the board and as him and Nick Khan and Triple H leading us into this next generation, he sees something and wants to push me to go for it. A lot of guys jumped to the, ‘I want to do something with John.’ I’m probably the one who didn’t hold his hand up and that’s simply because John is everything to me and and there’s been so many guys I’m a product of who i took a little something from. He expressed his admiration for Johnson’s work ethic and success in Hollywood, but also acknowledged that their paths have not crossed in quite some time.

As for Cena’s retirement tour, Rhodes seemed open to the idea of joining the iconic wrestler on his farewell journey. He mentioned that he has a great deal of respect for Cena and would be honored to be a part of such a momentous occasion in the wrestling world.

Rhodes also hinted at the possibility of returning to the ring for a special match or appearance during Cena’s tour, although nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Overall, it seems that Cody Rhodes is keeping his options open and is excited about the potential opportunities that lie ahead, whether it be working with The Rock or joining Cena on his final tour. Wrestling fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for this talented and versatile performer.

  • Capitol riot leaders Tarrio and Rhodes released from prison

Watch: Militia leader Stewart Rhodes leaves prison after Trump issues 6 January pardons

Former Proud Boys leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio and Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes have been released from prison, as President Donald Trump sets free more than 1,500 people charged for the US Capitol riot four years ago.

Within less than 24 hours of Trump pardoning or commuting sentences of those who tried to violently overturn the 2020 election, the riot’s two most prominent leaders left prison. Trump is also dismissing charges against those charged, but not yet tried, for the riot.

“My son, Enrique Tarrio, has been released officially as of now!” Zuny Tarrio posted on X.

Rhodes, who was not pardoned but had his sentence commuted, is waiting at the jail for defendants to be freed.

Rhodes, a former US Army paratrooper and Yale-educated lawyer, had been charged for leading a contingent of his Oath Keepers members to Washington.

Though Rhodes did not enter the Capitol, he directed his members from outside, and was sentenced in 2023 to 18 years in federal prison.

Tarrio was found guilty of seditious conspiracy – a rarely used charge of planning to overthrow the government – over the riot. He was not in Washington DC during the riots but directed others involved.

He received a sentence of 22 years, one of the longest given.

Amid the pardons and commutations, Trump also signed an order directing the Department of Justice to drop all pending cases against suspects accused in the riot.

Many of those people have been in jail in Washington DC for more than a year, with Trump often referring to them during his campaign as “hostages” as they awaited trial.

A leading advocate for those defendants – Edward R Martin – has also been made the acting US Attorney for Washington DC, showing the depth of Trump’s desire to quickly end the prosecutions. The Washington office was in charge of trying the cases connected to 6 January 2021.

But for some families of those inmates, the release process was proving frustrating on Tuesday.

Standing outside the DC central jail, Ben Pollock, whose children Jonathan and Olivia were locked inside, said he had spoken to his son and learned they might be moved to another facility.

“We have no idea what’s happening,” he said. “Why haven’t they been released?”

Democrats have condemned the release of more than 1,000 people as an attempt to rewrite history and sanitise the violence of the riot.

About 140 police officers were injured on 6 January, and Ashli Babbitt, an unarmed pro-Trump protester, was shot dead by a Capitol Police officer. Three others who were on Capitol grounds died from natural causes, including a police officer who confronted rioters and died the next day. Another protester died of an overdose, according to authorities.

Trump has described the day as “peaceful”.

Clarification, 21 January: This story has been updated to remove a description of the riot as having led to multiple deaths and to add more context around the violence and aftermath.

Capitol riot leaders Enrique Tarrio and Stewart Rhodes have been released from prison following a judge’s ruling. The two men were arrested in connection with the January 6th attack on the Capitol, which left five people dead and dozens injured.

Tarrio, the leader of the far-right group Proud Boys, and Rhodes, the founder of the Oath Keepers militia, were charged with conspiracy, obstruction of an official proceeding, and other offenses related to their alleged roles in inciting and organizing the violent insurrection.

Despite the seriousness of the charges, the judge granted bail for both men, citing concerns about their health and the need to protect their rights to a fair trial. Supporters of Tarrio and Rhodes have hailed their release as a victory for free speech and due process.

However, critics have raised concerns about the potential for the two men to incite further violence and unrest. The Capitol riot was a dark day in American history, and many fear that the release of its leaders could embolden others to commit similar acts in the future.

As the legal process continues to unfold, the nation watches closely to see how justice will be served in the aftermath of the Capitol riot.

  • Cody Rhodes Reveals WWE Matches That Were Close To A Real Fight

Cody Rhodes Reveals WWE Matches That Were Close To A Real Fight

Cody Rhodes made his big return to WWE at WrestleMania 38 and since then he’s faced some of the biggest names on the roster. The night after WrestleMania 39, The American Nightmare kicked off a feud with Brock Lesnar which quickly turned into one of Cody’s most heated rivalries.

Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes faced off three times in the months that followed with Rhodes picking up two big wins over The Beast Incarnate. The American Nightmare shared some details about what it was like to face Brock Lesnar on the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast and he explained why he’s proud of the matches he had with the former Universal Champion.

“So, I don’t need to say this is… But I can tell you, if people ever wonder how real, wrestling can be, the three matches I had with Brock Lesnar are the most competitive. And there’s a thing when you work with a guy who’s a big monster. ‘Where they’ll make you earn it,’ is what they’ll say. You’re not just grabbing my leg, even though that might be the spot. You’re not just hitting me with that, the Cody Cutter. It’s not just happening that way. You have to actually earn it. And earn it is as close to it being in a real fight as I’ve ever been in my life. I look back at the three matches with Brock, lovingly and so proud of the body of work we put up.

“But also I remember, scared is probably an appropriate term. But just, that was the most aggressive, and I’ve been in fights and I’ve wrestled folk style, freestyle, did all that. That was the most real anything had ever been for me in the ring. And it actually gave me a whole new education on getting to the, I guess to the top of our game. What it really means is there is an element of, ‘You’re not just taking this.’ Like you… This is going to be a bit of a struggle. Because that man is a freak athlete.”

Brock Lesnar last appeared on WWE programming when he faced off against Cody Rhodes at the SummerSlam premium live event in August of 2023. Triple H has stated that Lesnar is not gone from WWE, but there’s currently no word on whether or not he could return in the future.

Cody Rhodes, the former WWE superstar and current AEW wrestler, recently opened up about some of his past matches in WWE that were so intense, they came close to turning into real fights.

In a recent interview, Rhodes shared that his match against Big Show at WrestleMania 28 was one of the most intense and physically demanding matches he had ever been a part of. He admitted that tensions were running high between him and Big Show during the match, leading to some heated moments in the ring.

Another match that almost turned into a real fight was his bout against Randy Orton at a live event. Rhodes revealed that there was a miscommunication during the match that led to some rough spots and tempers flaring between the two wrestlers. Thankfully, the situation was diffused before things escalated further.

Rhodes also mentioned his match against Rey Mysterio, where a botched move almost caused a serious injury. The two wrestlers were able to work through the mistake and finish the match without any further incident.

Despite these intense moments, Rhodes emphasized that professional wrestling is a collaborative art form and that these incidents were rare exceptions rather than the norm. He also expressed his respect for his fellow wrestlers and their dedication to putting on a great show for the fans.

Overall, Cody Rhodes’ revelations shed light on the high-pressure and physically demanding nature of professional wrestling, showcasing the passion and commitment that wrestlers bring to their craft.

  • Cody Rhodes Will Reportedly Face [SPOILER] At WRESTLEMANIA; New Details Emerge On Plans For The Rock

Cody Rhodes Will Reportedly Face [SPOILER] At WRESTLEMANIA; New Details Emerge On Plans For The Rock

We have more details on plans for Cody Rhodes at this year’s WrestleMania, and it sounds like WWE is planning a huge match for the American Nightmare. We also have an update on The Rock’s current status…

There have already been rumblings this might be the case but, according to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current plan is for Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes to face John Cena at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas.

It sounds like Cena setting out to break Ric Flair’s 16-time WWE Championship record – they’re currently tied – has been the “working idea” for months now. Pitting the former face of WWE against the new face of the company will make for one heck of a storyline, particularly if the title is on the line.

Who should win the match? That’s a difficult question, though this would surely be an opportunity for the Leader of the Cenation to officially pass the torch to the American Nightmare ahead of his retirement.

Fightful Select has since chimed in, revealing that they first heard this match was in the works as far back as mid-November. Apparently, Rhodes vs. Cena became the plan “after it was indicated that the Rock’s schedule was unclear for Mania.”

WWE had hoped to pit Rhodes against The Rock, so what of the Final Boss? WWE hasn’t completely moved on from him as, according to Meltzer, the hope is he might still wrestle at the Show of Shows.

“At first it was the Raw title given Rhodes vs. Rock would be for the other title and People’s belt. This isn’t etched in stone because whatever Rock wants to do, he’s likely going to be able to do. I do know that people are expecting him to appear on the show in some form.”

“As for wrestling on the show, I even know people at the top who are expecting that, but it’s not a sure thing and one would think the Netflix show on 1/6 will kick off the season and tip the hand. Rock could do another match even though WWE title vs. People’s title was what he wanted after Mania.”

If WWE is committing to Rhodes vs. Cena, then we’d imagine the plan is to pivot to The Rock vs. Roman Reigns, the main event we were supposed to get at last year’s WrestleMania before the #WeWantCody movement changed things.

More Details On Reports Of John Cena-Cody Rhodes Plans For WWE WrestleMania 41

With 2025 now officially here, the road to WrestleMania is underway, and the rumors and reports regarding the top stars in WWE and what they will be doing on Easter Weekend is starting to ramp up. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes is certainly in the conversation, as there are many people he could face, including John Cena, who will be embarking on his retirement tour in 2025, starting on January 6 with “WWE Raw’s” debut on Netflix.

According to Fightful Select, the plan to have Rhodes take on Cena at WrestleMania 41 has not only been the working plan for the past few weeks, but that the idea to have the two men face each other on the grandest stage has been in place as far back as mid-November. The reason for this is The Rock’s scheduling conflicts surrounding re-shoots for the live-action “Moana” movie meant that he would not be able to work the show in April. People who are close to Rhodes have also noted that they were hopeful of Rhodes vs. Cena for WrestleMania 39 in 2023, but between his injury at Hell in a Cell 2022 and his return at the 2023 Royal Rumble, those plans were ultimately scrapped.

While this is the plan for now, Fightful noted that this could all change depending on whether Rock becomes available for WrestleMania. Some reports have suggested that he will be at the event in some capacity, and if he shows up on “Raw’s” Netflix debut, he will certainly have plans put in place, regardless of what has been arranged already. A solid portion of the WWE roster have already been factored into plans for WrestleMania, as well as some alternate options, but as many people already know in WWE, whatever Rock wants, he gets.

According to recent reports, there are strong indications that WWE is planning a blockbuster match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes for WrestleMania 41.

Sources close to the situation have revealed that WWE officials see this potential matchup as a major draw for the event and are keen on making it happen. Both Cena and Rhodes are considered top-tier talents in the industry, and a clash between the two would undoubtedly generate a lot of buzz and excitement among fans.

While details are still scarce at this point, it is believed that the feud between Cena and Rhodes could be built around the idea of the veteran legend taking on the up-and-coming star. This dynamic could provide a compelling narrative for the match and add an extra layer of intrigue to the proceedings.

As WrestleMania 41 approaches, fans can expect more information to surface regarding this exciting potential matchup. Stay tuned for further updates as the story develops.
