Locals Ricard (David Prouty) and Lindstrom (Shepherd Hill) earn Pro Bowl nods

    Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard.

The NFL announced the selections for the Pro Bowl games on Thursday morning, and two local products were among the players honored.

Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard, who starred at David Prouty and the University of Maine, was tabbed for the fifth time in his career, while Atlanta Falcons right guard Chris Lindstrom, a former Shepherd Hill and Boston College standout, was selected for the third straight season.

Ricard was one of nine Baltimore players selected for the AFC and has paved the way for running back Derrick Henry all season for the Ravens. Henry has the second-most rushing yards in the NFL (1,783) and will join Ricard on the Pro Bowl roster. The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Ricard is also adept at pass blocking and has one receiving touchdown on the season.

    Atlanta Falcons guard Chris Lindstrom.

Lindstrom has had another stellar season for the Falcons, and has allowed just one sack this year — tied for the fewest among NFL right guards. Lindstom has taken 1,020 offensive snaps (96 percent) for Atlanta and has boosted the run game all year for the Falcons.

The Pro Bowl Games will be held Feb. 2 in Orlando, with the league again featuring a flag football contest and a “Skills Show” the previous Thursday rather than a full-fledged game.

Two local football players have been selected to represent their teams in the upcoming Pro Bowl game. David Prouty High School’s own Ricard and Shepherd Hill Regional High School’s Lindstrom have both been recognized for their outstanding performances on the field this season.

Ricard, a standout defensive lineman for David Prouty, has been a force to be reckoned with all season. His ability to disrupt opposing offenses has not gone unnoticed, and now he will have the opportunity to showcase his skills on a national stage at the Pro Bowl.

Lindstrom, a talented linebacker for Shepherd Hill, has also been a key player for his team this season. His strong tackling and playmaking ability have helped lead his team to success, and now he will have the chance to compete against the best in the league at the Pro Bowl.

Both Ricard and Lindstrom have worked tirelessly to earn this recognition, and their hard work and dedication to the game have truly paid off. We are proud to see these local athletes representing their schools and communities at the Pro Bowl, and we wish them the best of luck in the game. Congratulations, Ricard and Lindstrom!
