If there’s one person you can rely on to take part in an OMG beauty campaign, it’s Julia Fox. Which is why we’re not entirely surprised she’s been photographed to promote MAC Cosmetics’ new nude lipsticks—posing entirely “naked” on the New York subway.
The campaign, which is titled “I only wear MAC,” features a whole host of cultural icons, including Tiffany Pollard, Beabadoobee, Martha Stewart, and Julia, stripping down to show off various lipsticks. In Julia’s campaign, the actress and model is seen holding onto the subway train pole with tight pin curls in her pink rinsed hair, looking directly to camera.
She has heavy eye make-up on and a strong nude lip, made using MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick in Acting Natural and a lip pencil in shade Stone. “Seeing @juliafox only wear M·A·C on the subway wasn’t even the craziest thing I saw on my commute,” the brand wrote to their 24million followers.
Judging by the reaction on social media, her followers are into it too. “This campaign is so good it’s beyond words,” one person commented, while another put, “Love this look! “
Someone else said, “She’s so Julia”, “Everything” and “Stunning.”

From the Great Lakes of Iowa to an RV manufacturing hub to a major college town, RAGBRAI 52 will let riders experience the variety and scenic charm of northern Iowa.
The route for the 52nd edition of the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa, announced Saturday, will extend 406 miles from Orange City to Guttenberg. Along the way riders will stop overnight in Milford, Estherville, Forest City, Iowa Falls, Cedar Falls and Oelwein.
Here is what to know about the beginning, ending and overnight towns on the July 20-26 ride.
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Pass-through town in 1975, 1993, 1996, 2002, 2005 and 2012. Starting town in 2017.
Pella may be famous as the Dutch-est city in Iowa, a state that was a historic destination for immigrants from the Netherlands, but Orange City is no slouch when it comes to windmills and wooden shoes. Just like Pella, it has an annual spring Tulip Festival and Dutch-themed decor. It takes its name from the Royal House of Orange in the Netherlands. And it was founded 1870 by Henry Hospers, a 17-year-old resident of — you guessed it — Pella.
But there is one thing that sets Orange City apart from Pella: its food. Pella has its eponymous bologna and the S-shaped pastries known as Dutch letters. Orange City takes it to a whole different level as the home of Pizza Ranch. The 14-state, 200-plus store chain was founded in 1981 by Adrie Groeneweg in nearby Hull and moved its headquarters to Orange City in 2007.
Sure, pizza isn’t Dutch food. But Pizza Ranch’s style — buffet service with not just pizza but chicken, vegetables, salads and desserts — definitely is, as anyone who’s ever visited one of Amsterdam’s countless buffet restaurants can testify. Iowa’s 68 Pizza Ranch locations are a favorite stop for politicians campaigning in the Iowa caucuses, and also for RAGBRAI riders after a hunger-inducing day on the road.
Of course there’s a Pizza Ranch in Orange City. So load up a plate with pizza, chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, gravy and a sugary slice of dessert pizza and dig in.
Note: This is one of those years when a lot of riders are likely to forego the traditional Missouri River tire dip. Orange City is about 4 ½ miles from neighboring Alton on the Floyd River, a tributary, but it’s 10 times that far from the closest stretch of the Missouri itself in Sioux City.
Milford
Population: 3,321
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Pass-through town in 1982, 1985, 1996, 2005 and 2014.
Iowa isn’t just cornfields. It has its own Great Lakes, and Milford is the southern gateway to this vacationland, welcoming thousands of tourists each summer.
The seven lakes, including East and West Okoboji and Big Spirit, are collectively one of the most popular tourism draws in the state. The shores of the clear-water glacial remnant lakes are lined with vacation homes and boat-up bars and restaurants, plus the famous Arnolds Park amusement park with its vintage roller coaster and Ferris wheel. And for fans of all sorts of two-wheeled vehicles, the neighboring city of Spirit Lake is home of the Indian motorcycle factory, which offers tours.
Milford has served as a RAGBRAI pass-through town five times before, but this will be its first time it’s a full-fledged overnight town.
Estherville
Population: 5,823
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Overnight town in 1982, 1996 and 2005.
Home to Iowa Lakes Community College, Estherville is another town in the Iowa Great Lakes region. It’s also known for what happened on May 10, 1879, when a meteorite exploded along a 7-mile path in the surrounding countryside. The three largest fragments fell 4 miles north of Estherville, weighing 431 pounds, 151 pounds and 106 pounds, respectively, according to the University of Iowa.
Portions of the meteorite are on display in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and the Naturhistorisches Museum in Vienna, among other institutions. A sizable chunk also resides in the Estherville Meteorite Center downtown, and fragments of the big rock are on display in the Estherville Public Library, where a sculpture in Library Square, commissioned in 1980, celebrates the meteorite.
Another monument marks a spot outside town where pieces of the meteorite fell.
Forest City
Population: 4,285
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Overnight town in 1982, 1987, 2002 and 2014.
Straddling Hancock and Winnebago counties, Forest City was the longtime headquarters of recreational vehicle manufacturer Winnebago Industries, which moved its offices to a Minneapolis suburb in 2021. It still is a major production center for the vehicles so synonymous with their segment that some people call all motorhomes Winnebagos. Founded in 1960, Winnebago in 2024 had revenues of almost $3 billion.
The Forest City area also is home to Pilot Knob State Park, one of Iowa’s first state parks. Established in 1923, its most distinctive feature is a 33-foot circular observation tower.
Iowa Falls
Population: 5,002.
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Overnight town in 1978, 1995, 2004 and 2021.
Tucked into the Iowa River Greenbelt in Hardin County, Iowa Falls is surrounded by picturesque valleys and woods. Most scenic of all are the limestone bluffs lining the river where it runs through town. RAGBRAI riders in 2021 enjoyed splashing and floating in the downtown waters, and the swinging pedestrian bridge across the river is a local landmark.
Another landmark, in a corner of the city’s Estes Park, is what is billed as Iowa’s oldest operating popcorn stand. It’s been in operation since 1948, but Iowa Falls has had a popcorn stand since the 1870s.
The Scenic City Empress, a 50-passenger double-decked riverboat, offers public and private cruises on the river from June through mid-October.
Cedar Falls
Population: 40,737.
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Pass-through town in 1985. Overnight town in 1989, 1998, 2007 and 2015.
The largest overnight town on this year’s route, Cedar Falls is home to the University of Northern Iowa. UNI had a fall 2024 enrollment of 9,283, according to the university, and along with the University of Iowa and Iowa State University is one of just three public universities in the state.
As you’d expect from a major college town, the downtown is full of eateries and bars, including a tasting room of the appropriately bike-themed SingleSpeed Brewing, one of Iowa’s largest makers of craft beer.
Cedar Falls takes its name from the Cedar River, a 329-mile-long waterway that starts in southeastern Minnesota and is a tributary of the Iowa River, meeting that stream in southeastern Iowa. Downstream, Cedar Rapids also takes its name from the river.
Cedar Falls sits about 8 miles from downtown Waterloo, which served as a RAGBRAI overnight town in 2021 and is a major manufacturing center for John Deere tractors.
Oelwein
Population: 5,920
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Pass-through town in 2014. Overnight town in 1990 and 2002.
Located in Fayette County, Oelwein was founded in 1872 by the Burlington, Cedar Rapids and Minnesota Railroad. The town was named after the Oelwein family, who owned the land where its railroad station was established.
Today Oelwein is an industrial center with employers like Ashley Industrial Molding, Transco Railway Products and Bertch Cabinet Manufacturing. It’s also where RAGBRAI Ride Director Matt Phippen grew up and where he first encountered RAGBRAI when Oelwein hosted the ride in 1990.
The ride’s stop there also will be a homecoming for some of the Iowa state troopers directing traffic for the ride: It’s headquarters for the state patrol’s District 10, covering Iowa’s northeast corner.
Nestled in the southwest corner of the Iowa’s portion of the unglaciated Driftless Area, the countryside around Oelwein is home to a community of Old Order Amish, and the Oelwein Chamber offers motorcoach tours, booked in advance.

Guttenberg
Population: 1,817.
Previous times on RAGBRAI: Ending town in 1980, 1987, 1996, 2005 and 2014.
First visited by French explorers in 1673, the area was originally named Prairie La Porte, meaning “the door to the prairie.” German immigrants incorporated the city in 1850, but when you line up for the Mississippi River tire dip, remember that the locals pronounce the name with a short u, as in “gut,” as opposed to the “goot” of the similarly named German city.
Buildings from the era of German immigration, made with limestone mined from nearby bluffs, line the scenic riverfront. Today the city is known for manufacturing and its recreational opportunities along the river.

Ethereum and Solana were in the spotlight as Ethereum’s co-founder Vitalik Buterin revealed a comprehensive roadmap for the Ethereum Foundation’s leadership overhaul to reinforce decentralization and ecosystem development.
Meanwhile, Solana captured market attention with an 18% rally, largely driven by the buzz surrounding the $TRUMP token.
Buterin’s Ethereum Roadmap
In a detailed Twitter thread, Vitalik Buterin outlined the ongoing changes within the Ethereum Foundation (EF) leadership.
The primary objectives include improving the foundation’s technical expertise, fostering stronger ties with ecosystem participants, and more actively embracing decentralized technologies.
Vitalik emphasized that the EF would prioritize privacy, open-source development, and censorship resistance.
Source: X
One of the standout points in Buterin’s roadmap is the focus on improving two-way communication between EF leadership and the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
This includes engaging with application developers, wallet providers, Layer 2 projects, and individual and institutional users.
The EF aims to support and empower the diverse actors that drive Ethereum’s growth by fostering collaboration.
Another significant highlight is the EF’s commitment to incorporating decentralized and privacy-enhancing technologies into its operations.
This includes using the Ethereum blockchain for treasury management and payments, further showcasing Ethereum’s real-world utility.
Vitalik Buterin’s roadmap also stresses the importance of maintaining Ethereum’s neutrality, avoiding any political or ideological pivots that could compromise its position as a global platform.
Vitalik also clarified what the EF does not intend to do. The organization will not become a lobbying force, centralize its operations, or cater to vested interests.
These clear boundaries underline Ethereum’s dedication to its decentralized ethos and vision of empowering the community.
Market reactions to Buterin’s announcements were muted, with Ethereum’s price holding steady at $3,2K. At press time, Ethereum was down 6.49% for the past day, trading at $3,279.21.
It has a market cap of $395.15 billion and a 13.91% increase in 24-hour trading volume to $32.45 billion.
The bearish sentiment and increased selling pressure are shown in a sharp price decline with increased volatility.
Solana’s Trump Token Mania
While Ethereum held its ground, failing to post gains in the last 24 hours as it consolidated around $3.2K, Solana experienced a significant surge. Its price climbed 18% to $256.
This rally was largely fueled by the TRUMP token, a Solana-based meme coin linked to President-elect Donald Trump.
Reports revealed that the $TRUMP token drove Solana’s decentralized exchange (DEX) volumes to an astonishing $12.9 billion within 24 hours.
BREAKING
DONALD TRUMP HAS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED HIS MEMECOIN $TRUMP ON THE SOLANA BLOCKCHAIN
The token’s rapid rise highlights Solana’s growing appeal to developers and traders seeking high-speed, low-cost transactions.
However, the speculative frenzy around the TRUMP token raises questions about the sustainability of such growth.
Memecoins are often volatile and unpredictable, and their impact on long-term market dynamics remains uncertain.
Nevertheless, the surge in trading activity demonstrated Solana’s ability to capture market attention and capitalize on emerging trends.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has long been known for his vision and leadership in the world of blockchain and cryptocurrency. With the recent launch of Ethereum 2.0 and the continued development of Ethereum’s ecosystem, Buterin’s roadmap for the future of the platform is more important than ever.
Buterin’s vision for Ethereum includes scalability, security, and sustainability, with a focus on making the platform more user-friendly and accessible to a wider audience. His leadership has been instrumental in guiding the development of Ethereum and ensuring its continued success in the increasingly competitive world of decentralized finance.
While Ethereum continues to evolve under Buterin’s guidance, other platforms are also making waves in the cryptocurrency space. Solana, a high-performance blockchain platform, has been gaining traction in recent months, thanks in part to its ability to handle high transaction volumes and its support for decentralized applications.
One of the factors driving Solana’s recent success has been the launch of the controversial “Trump Token” on its platform. The token, which is based on former President Donald Trump’s social media posts, has garnered attention from both supporters and critics alike, helping to boost Solana’s visibility and usage.
As Ethereum and Solana continue to compete for dominance in the world of decentralized finance, it will be interesting to see how Buterin’s roadmap for Ethereum and Solana’s innovative approach to tokenization and scalability play out in the months and years to come.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Michigan State basketball opened the new year with a hard-fought road win in its return to Big Ten play, in big part thanks to its big men.
Xavier Booker delivered two critical second-half scores after Ohio State rallied back from a 14-point deficit, combining with Szymon Zapala and Jaxon Kohler for 32 points and 15 rebounds to lift the 15th-ranked Spartans to a 69-62 victory Friday night at Value City Arena. It was their seventh straight win.
“A big win for us, to come on the road and to win a game like this, especially the way it went,” MSU coach Tom Izzo said. “There was some disappointing things. But as my man, Jimmy Jackson said, an ugly win is better than a pretty loss. So we’ll take it.”
Zapala had his best performance since transferring to MSU in the offseason, finishing with 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting. He is the eighth different player to lead the Spartans in scoring this season. Booker had nine points, including a three-point play and an alley-oop as part of a momentum-swinging 8-0 run, while Kohler had eight points and 10 rebounds.
Jaden Akins added 14 points and Coen Carr scored 11, while Jeremy Fears Jr. had six points, seven assists and six rebounds for the Spartans, who overcame 3-for-18 shooting from 3-point range and 16 turnovers. They finished with a 38-22 scoring edge in the paint.
“Last year, we would have found ways to lose games like this, like being up and they come back on a run,” Akins said. “But this year, I feel like we got the team and the poise to find ways to win at the end.”
MSU (12-2, 3-0) returns home for the first visit from new Big Ten foe Washington on Thursday night (8 p.m., Big Ten Network).
Detroit native Micah Parrish (River Rouge) had 13 points for Ohio State (9-5, 1-2) and Bruce Thornton added eight of his 10 points in the second half.
Spartans bigs produce in half-court offense
MSU entered Friday as the nation’s best team on the fastbreak. But the Spartans showed they can be pretty dangerous in the half-court as well, going inside early and often to Kohler and Zapala.
The 6-foot-9 Kohler got the ball on the Spartans’ first two possessions, the first a traveling call that was one of nine in the opening half. On the second, Kohler scored in deep then put back an Akins missed 3-pointer and hit another layup over Devin Royal, accounting for MSU’s first six points.
Then it was Zapala’s turn, as the 7-footer got his first basket on a drive and lob from Fears, then converted off a high-low pass from Kohler and followed that with a three-point play through a Sean Stewart foul. Then Carr went to work down low, following his own miss for a layup and then getting fouled on another offensive board and hitting both free throws to put MSU up 31-23 with 5:12 to go before half.
The Buckeyes followed with six straight points, with a Royal layup with 2:28 to go cutting the Spartans’ cushion to two. But MSU closed out the half with an answer, getting two more Carr free throws and an Akins layup before Fears drove into the paint again and delivered an alley-oop lob to Zapala to make it 37-29.
Zapala had nine points at the break, Akins scored seven, and Kohler and Carr each had six. The Spartans shot 48.1% in the first half despite going just 2-for-11 from 3-point range — the only deep makes came from Akins and Fears, who had four points, four assists and three rebounds in the opening period. MSU’s defense made up for the poor outside shooting by limiting Ohio State to just 2-for-14 from deep, limiting Thornton, the Buckeyes’ leading scorer entering Friday, to just two points on 1-for-4 shooting.
Szymon szays
Zapala carried his momentum into the second half, extending the Spartans’ scoring run to 12 straight by duplicating Kohler’s earlier efforts and scoring the first six baskets out of the locker room.
It started with a putback after an Akins late shot-clock drive and miss, then Fears again penetrated the paint and lofted another dunk ball for Zapala. The big man did it himself on MSU’s next trip, driving right and throwing down another thunderous jam that forced first-year Buckeyes coach Jake Diebler to call timeout just 1:44 into the final period as the Spartans’ lead swelled to 14, 43-29.
“We knew we had an advantage at (center),” said Zapala, whose previous MSU scoring high was 10. “We didn’t expect them to double, we thought they were going to go one-on-one. … There was a few opportunities for me to score, and I just took advantage of it.”
Ohio State would not go away, however. And MSU’s turnovers helped. A lot.
The Spartans coughed the ball up five times in the first eight minutes of the second half. A Fears foul on a Thorton 3-point attempt and the ensuing free throws sparked an eight-point Buckeye burst. It also forced Izzo to burn a timeout after a casual Frankie Fidler pass to Zapala was stolen for a breakaway dunk by OSU’s Stewart.
After a Carr dunk out of the timeout, John Mobley drilled a deep 3-pointer off another Buckeye offensive board to cut MSU’s cushion to a point. Then Thornton continued his second-half surge, hitting a free-throw line jumper to put OSU back ahead by a point with 8:45 left. The 15-2 run had the Spartans staggered.
“We handled the adversity of the game, I felt like, really well to get that lead in the second half…” Diebler said. “I thought for the most part, great toughness and togetherness to fight back when they had really all the momentum.”
But Booker delivered two key plays, picking up a loose ball under the Buckeyes’ basket and driving the length of the floor for a layup through a foul. After a Holloman 3-pointer, set up by a kickout pass from Jase Richardson, Booker elevated for a lob from Fears and cocked back a two-handed slam that prompted another Diebler timeout with MSU back in front, 57-50, with just over six minutes to play.
“Those are momentum changing plays right there” Booker said of the sequence. “I feel like those kind of basically made the outcome of the game.”
The Buckeyes got back within four on five straight points from Parrish, a former Oakland University star. But Carr made three of four free throws, with an Akins driving layup and a pair of Kohler free throws sandwiched between.
The Spartans did not turn the ball over in the final 7:59, and they forced the Buckeyes into five of their 16 giveaways in the final 8:16 after taking their final lead. Both of Booker’s buckets in the eight-point run came off OSU turnovers.
“There’s no question we lose a game like this last year. For whatever reasons,” Izzo said. “Maybe it’s maturity, maybe it’s guys rallying together, maybe the coaches are doing a better job, maybe all the above. But for the most part, Jaden said it and I couldn’t agree with him more.”

In a thrilling matchup on Tuesday night, Michigan State basketball showcased their depth and talent as they defeated Ohio State 69-62. The Spartans were led by a balanced scoring attack, with six players reaching double figures in points.
Junior guard Aaron Henry led the way for Michigan State with 14 points, while senior guard Joshua Langford and freshman guard A.J. Hoggard each added 12 points. Sophomore forward Julius Marble chipped in with 11 points off the bench, and junior forward Gabe Brown and freshman guard Max Christie contributed 10 points apiece.
The Spartans’ defense was also a key factor in the victory, holding Ohio State to just 38% shooting from the field. Michigan State forced 15 turnovers and capitalized on them, scoring 19 points off of turnovers.
With the win, Michigan State improved to 10-4 on the season and 4-2 in Big Ten play. The Spartans will look to build on this momentum as they continue their conference schedule.
Dogecoin is getting hot again, jumping by nearly 11% over the past 24 hours to continue gains from the last couple days—and another meme coin is even hotter, thanks in part to recent hype over AI-related tokens.
DOGE is up to a current price of $0.375, the highest mark seen since December 18 amid a market-wide plunge. Dogecoin has now climbed 18% since the start of 2025, rebounding after falling to below $0.27 on December 20.
The original meme coin saw a surge this fall on the back of prominent fan Elon Musk’s support of Donald Trump on the campaign trail, and then blasted off alongside Bitcoin and other major assets following Trump’s win. DOGE then peaked at $0.48 in December, marking a three-year price high for the asset.
Dogecoin isn’t the only major asset gaining steam Friday. It’s not even the biggest gainer in the top 10 coins by market cap—that honor goes to Cardano, which has jumped 15% on the day to a current price of $1.10.
Bitcoin, by contrast, is up just 1% on the day to $98,275, with Ethereum rising over 3% to nearly $3,600.
Another meme coin in the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market cap is celebrating a fresh milestone Friday, as well, with the recently surging Fartcoin (FARTCOIN) reaching a new all-time high price of $1.53 just a bit ago.
Fartcoin is rising in part due to its association with the AI-driven X account Truth Terminal, which dreamed up the name of the coin before an unknown human created and launched it via Solana meme coin launchpad Pump.fun. It’s now up 57% over the last seven days.
The Solana token surged on Thursday alongside other cryptocurrencies tied to AI agents, the launchpads used to deploy them, and meme coins tied to those agents. The AI + crypto narrative is being hailed by some traders as the latest meta in the space, though it also has prominent detractors.

Dogecoin, the meme-inspired cryptocurrency, continues to surge in popularity and value as it reaches new all-time highs. The digital currency, which features the Shiba Inu dog as its mascot, has seen an incredible surge in price in recent weeks, fueled by celebrity endorsements and social media hype.
But Dogecoin isn’t the only cryptocurrency making waves in the market. Fartcoin, a lesser-known digital currency, has also seen a meteoric rise in price as it rides the wave of AI hype. Fartcoin, which boasts a unique algorithm that uses artificial intelligence to predict market trends, has seen its value soar to new heights as investors flock to the promising technology.
As both Dogecoin and Fartcoin continue to gain traction in the cryptocurrency market, it’s clear that digital currencies are here to stay. Whether you’re a fan of the meme-inspired Dogecoin or the AI-driven Fartcoin, there’s no denying the potential for growth and innovation in the world of cryptocurrency.
SACRAMENTO — About 66 days on average. That’s how long author James Clear, in his book “Atomic Habits,” said it takes for a behavior to become a habitual.
That’s roughly the length of the Detroit Pistons’ historic losing streak a season ago. Their streak started on Oct. 30, 2023. After losing an NBA-record 28 consecutive games, capturing the pity of the nation, those Pistons finally got a win on Dec. 30. That’s 60 days of losing, plenty of time to develop the kind of bad habits that could sabotage a career.
But for Cade Cunningham, being the face of a team renowned for its addiction to defeats has the opposite effect.
“The losing streak almost made me more sure (of myself) — as backwards as that might sound,” Cunningham said as he sat on the purple baseline at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, wearing his blue Pistons practice shorts — hours before a 114-113, come-from-behind win over the Kings — while reminiscing over the losing streak. “I pushed myself to the limit so many times during that streak that I realized I was built for it.
“I knew once I came out on top of it, I was going to shut all of that hate up.”
Cunningham’s lowest times as a professional came during Detroit’s historic skid, but each loss instilled more belief. Each final buzzer delivered potential for pessimism, but for Cunningham, it prompted optimism. It was the lows then that helped produced the highs now.
His refusal to let repeated failure define him fueled a drive to finally snap last season’s losing streak, 14 of those losses coming at Little Caesars Arena. It’s been pivotal for the belief he’s instilled into a Pistons squad that’s already matched last season’s win total — in 51 fewer games.
He deems it an unshakeable confidence. Perhaps it can come across as delusion to others, but it’s gotten him to this point.

With Detroit (14-17) currently ninth in the Eastern Conference standings and Cunningham’s absence of doubt, meaningful basketball in the spring is possible for the first time since the 2018-19 season, when he was a junior at Montverde Academy. And now, the 23-year-old face of the franchise has never been more ready for the challenge.
The habits he’s built have been productive, not destructive. His mentality fortified, not folded. His childhood dreams actualized, not erased.
“I always wanted to be in the NBA, and I never saw myself not being a star,” Cunningham said. “I wanted to be a star. I’m on track, and I’ve just got to continue to grow, continue to get better and continue to learn.”
Last December, Cunningham’s eyebrows were tense as he bit his lip with a puzzled look on his face. Kristaps Porziņģis had just knocked down his second free throw to put the Boston Celtics up by eight. The Pistons once held a 19-point halftime lead. It seemed their unwanted time in the NBA spotlight was coming to an end, and a 27-game losing streak would die in Boston.
“That game hurt to lose,” Cunningham said. “I think just the streak in general … a lot of long car rides home, a lot of quiet plane rides.
“That’s a depressing thing to go through. Every day going into the building and everybody just has this dark cloud over their heads. It was tough to play through, but it’s good to be on the other side of that.”
Cunningham finds refuge in fatherhood. The Pistons had their hearts broken in Boston on Dec. 28, 2023. The following day, his daughter, Riley, turned 5 years old. The day after that, Cunningham put up 30 points and 12 assists in a win over the Toronto Raptors to end the streak.
“That’s my motivation: my daughter and my family in general,” Cunningham told The Athletic. “To be able to put them in position to build an empire.”
Cunningham’s unwavering belief in himself breathes life into a future not only for his daughter, but also his entire lineage. His belief is a recurring theme, just as it was when a Hobbs meter measured time as he sat in silence at roughly 35,00 feet. Cunningham never cowered.
Last season, a Pistons’ mid-February trip to Phoenix resulted in a 16-point loss. Cunningham finished with eight assists, four rebounds, five turnovers and only 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting in 26 minutes of action. This season in Phoenix, Cunningham finished with 28 points on 9-of-19 shooting and had 13 assists to four turnovers in a win against the Suns — including a signature 3-ball over Kevin Durant to ice the game.

Cade Cunningham says Kevin Durant’s praise of his game ‘validates my work’
Cunningham is on pace for his best pro season, averaging career highs in points (24.2), assists (9.7), rebounds (6.9), 3-point percentage (37.3) and 3-point attempts (6.6). His six triple-doubles trail only Nikola Jokić (11) and LeBron James (eight) for the NBA lead.
“I’ve made some plays this year that I haven’t seen from myself in a long time,” Cunningham said. “I’ll watch a full game, and I’m like, ‘I was really hooping that game.’ I think it’s just the steady growth for me. I don’t really put a cap on myself as far as what I’m able to be. I just want to continue to get better.”
Cunningham was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career during the week of Dec. 16, boasting averages of 27 points (49.2 percent shooting and 40.9 percent from 3), 12.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and a steal in 39 minutes during a three-game span. He not only became the first Piston to win Player of the Week since Saddiq Bey in February 2021, but also led Detroit to wins over the Miami Heat and the Suns.

Having a healthy offseason with the absence of any rehabilitation, as Cunningham had in the past, also has helped.
“It’s a blessing. It’s everything I’ve wanted,” he said with a smile. “This offseason was a big offseason for me to be healthy and really get to work throughout. It was a huge offseason.
“It’s just good that we’re getting to win and I’m helping my team. That’s the thing I’ve wanted to do the most.”
In “Atomic Habits”, Clear details how to get one percent better each day. No matter how embarrassing the lopsided losses were, no matter how much the Pistons may have felt like the laughingstock of the league in 2023, Cunningham has found ways to get one percent better daily.
Now, he’s on the brink of ascending into a young star, and he’s got Detroit on the verge of competitive hoops for the first time since he’s been in the association.

Cade Cunningham’s growth helping Pistons to forget ‘quiet plane rides’ of 2023-24
The Detroit Pistons have been on a rollercoaster ride in recent years, but thanks to the emergence of rookie sensation Cade Cunningham, things are starting to look up for the Motor City squad.
After a lackluster 2023-24 season that saw the team endure many quiet and somber plane rides following yet another loss, the arrival of Cunningham has injected new life and energy into the team. His stellar play on the court and leadership off of it has been a breath of fresh air for a franchise desperately in need of a spark.
Cunningham’s growth and development have been nothing short of impressive, as he has quickly established himself as one of the top young talents in the league. His ability to score, facilitate, and defend at a high level has not gone unnoticed, and his impact on the team has been immeasurable.
With Cunningham leading the way, the Pistons are starting to turn heads and show signs of promise for the future. The once quiet and despondent plane rides of the past are slowly fading away, replaced by a renewed sense of optimism and excitement for what lies ahead.
As Cunningham continues to grow and evolve as a player, the Pistons are confident that better days are on the horizon. And with his leadership guiding the way, the days of quiet plane rides are becoming a distant memory for a team on the rise.
