  • Shannon Sharpe rips Troy Aikman over officiating complaints

Former NFL tight end and current sports analyst Shannon Sharpe did not hold back in his criticism of Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman after Aikman complained about the officiating during a recent NFL game.

In a fiery segment on his show, Sharpe ripped into Aikman, accusing him of being a sore loser and unable to accept responsibility for his team’s shortcomings. Sharpe called Aikman out for always blaming the referees when things don’t go his way, instead of taking ownership of his own mistakes.

Sharpe went on to say that Aikman’s constant whining about officiating is unprofessional and sets a bad example for younger players and fans. He argued that Aikman should know better, given his years of experience in the league, and should be able to handle losses with grace and dignity.

Overall, Sharpe’s comments were scathing and pulled no punches, making it clear that he has little patience for Aikman’s complaints about officiating. It remains to be seen how Aikman will respond to Sharpe’s criticism, but one thing is for sure: Sharpe is not one to shy away from speaking his mind.

  • Former All-Pro NFL WR Rips Steelers OC Arthur Smith: ‘This Dude Got You in Three Tight End Packages’

While Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson has received a lot of flak for the team’s five-game losing streak to end the season, former All-Pro NFL wide receiver Brandon Marshall points the finger at offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. He thinks Smith set Wilson up to fail with poor play-calling and personnel.

It was reported last week by Mark Kaboly of The Pat McAfee Show that Smith and Wilson had an unhappy working relationship during the 2024 season.

“This is what I would say. I would’ve love to seen Russell Wilson go rogue. When he goes up-tempo, when he calls the game, that dude’s stats are crazy,” Marshall said on the I Am Athlete podcast. “And don’t have me look them up because I already got ’em. I’m loaded. That’s how l’d hold him accountable. We ain’t got time to play with these people. Legacy is on the line, careers are on the line. This dude got you in three tight end packages. I want to see Russ throw.”

Coupled with Smith’s poor play-calling, Marshall also thinks Pickens’ hamstring injury that caused him to miss three games hindered Wilson’s production.

“They lose the last four games. Pickens went down. His guy who opened the whole offense, he went [down].”

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell WilsonPittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson

Perhaps it was play-calling, but one thing is clear, Wilson left a lot to be desired at the end of the season. In the final four regular season games, Wilson had an 81.3 passer rating, with four touchdowns compared to two interceptions and two fumbles lost. He was also sacked 14 times over those four games. Wilson had better numbers in the playoff loss to the Ravens, but the Steelers were trailing by two scores for almost the entire contest.

The Steelers finished the 2024 season ranked 11th in rushing offense, averaging 127.4 yards per game, but they were fourth in rushing attempts (533). It was just a lot of volume, but the production wasn’t there, only averaging 4.1 yards per carry. The Steelers ranked 29th this season in EPA. The run game was supposed to be Arthur Smith’s specialty, but it never blossomed. The play-action game also wasn’t where it needed to be. The Steelers’ success rate using play-action was actually worse than last year.

A report by Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated last week said the team grew frustrated with Wilson down the stretch run, but would love to keep working with Justin Fields, who started the first six games of the season while Wilson was hurt.

    More must-reads:

Former All-Pro NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens recently took to social media to criticize Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith for his play-calling decisions.

In a scathing post on Twitter, Owens wrote, “This dude got you in three tight end packages? Really, Steelers? Come on now! Let those wide receivers eat!”

Owens, known for his outspoken nature both on and off the field, didn’t hold back in his criticism of Smith’s offensive strategy. The Steelers have been struggling on offense this season, and Owens believes that the team’s reliance on tight ends is hindering their ability to move the ball effectively.

Fans and analysts have also been questioning Smith’s play-calling, with many calling for a more balanced offensive approach that utilizes the team’s talented wide receivers.

It remains to be seen whether the Steelers will make any changes to their offensive game plan in response to Owens’ comments, but one thing is for certain: the former All-Pro wide receiver isn’t shy about sharing his opinions on the state of the team.

The Seneca County Health Department has issued a water conservation order for the village, asking residents to limit water usage until further notice.

The village’s entire water system and more than 40 tankers are being deployed to help battle the flames, according to crews.

    This is a developing story.

  • ‘SNL’ Weekend Update Rips Mark Zuckerberg Cozying Up to Trump

The Meta CEO “flew down to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Donald Trump, and boy are his knees tired,” Colin Jost jokes

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update addressed several elements of the presidential transition process, including a new portrait of Donald Trump, figures like Mark Zuckerberg cozying up to the president-elect, and some of President Joe Biden’s final actions while in office.

“It’s the dawn of a new era,” co-anchor Colin Jost began. “Donald Trump released his official inaugural portrait, and the photo is lit, I assume, by hell opening up.”

“Trump is trying to look so hardcore in his photo, I’m surprised he didn’t add a parental advisory sticker and a durag,” he joked.

“And then Trump also released the official portrait of J.D. Vance,” he continued, as an anonymous gray avatar showed on screen.

Later, Jost addressed the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. In other words, Jost said, the two parties “committed to their version of Dry January.”

“President Biden said that the Israel/Hamas cease-fire talks were one of the toughest negotiations he had ever experienced,” Jost continued. “The hardest part was convincing both sides that he was still the president.”

Michael Che then reacted to Biden naming Navy aircraft carriers after two of his predecessors: George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

“The carrier will also honor Bill Clinton by being covered in seamen,” Che quipped.

As for Zuckerberg, who donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee and made the Trump-friendly move of nixing fact-checking on Facebook and Instagram, Jost’s line was succinct:

“Meta CEO and Puerto Rican gigolo Mark Zuckerberg flew down to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Donald Trump, and boy are his knees tired.”

This past weekend, Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment took aim at Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for cozying up to President Donald Trump.

During the segment, co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che mocked Zuckerberg for recently hosting a secret dinner with Trump at the White House. Jost joked, “It’s like when the villain meets the other villain.”

Che added, “Zuckerberg is just trying to get on Trump’s good side so he can keep spreading fake news on Facebook. It’s like when a rat sees a piece of cheese and says, ‘I can work with this guy.’”

The segment went on to criticize Zuckerberg for refusing to fact-check political ads on Facebook, despite widespread criticism and calls for change. Jost quipped, “It’s like if the head of the FDA said, ‘You know what, let’s just let the rats test the new drugs.’”

Overall, SNL’s Weekend Update segment didn’t hold back in its criticism of Zuckerberg’s actions and his relationship with Trump. The segment served as a reminder of the importance of holding powerful figures accountable, even in the world of tech and social media.

  • Rams Star With Pennsylvania Ties Rips Eagles Fans: ‘I Hate Eagles Fans’

Philadelphia Eagles fans may have just gotten a little extra ammunition to cheer against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles will welcome the Rams to town on Sunday in the Divisional Round of the National Football League playoffs. Philadelphia took down the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round and the Rams took down the Minnesota Vikings in impressive fashion.

Philadelphia is the No. 2 seed remaining in the NFC while the Rams are the No. 4 seed. It should be a pretty exciting matchup this weekend and a little more fuel may have just got added to the fire. Rams Pro Bowler and rookie Jared Verse has some ties to the area and opened up about his feelings on Eagles fans to the Los Angeles Times’ Gary Klein.

“I hate Eagles fans,” Verse said. “They’re so annoying. I hate Eagles fans…I didn’t even do nothing to ‘em. It was my first time playing. Oh, I hate Eagles fans…When I see that green and white I hate it. I actually get upset. Like I actually genuinely get hot.”

There’s really no sugar-coating it there, he may his feelings clear. He was born in Dayton, Ohio but played his high school football in Pennsylvania at Central Columbia High School.

Lincoln Financial Field already was going to be rocking on Sunday when these two teams clash but it wouldn’t be shocking if it got a little louder now.

More NFL: Ex-Eagles QB, 16-Year NFL Vet Called Possible Kellen Moore Replacement

Los Angeles Rams star Aaron Donald, who hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, recently made headlines for his comments about Philadelphia Eagles fans. In a recent interview, Donald didn’t hold back his feelings, saying, “I hate Eagles fans.”

The defensive tackle, who has faced off against the Eagles several times in his career, went on to explain his disdain for the passionate fanbase. “They’re loud, obnoxious, and they never stop talking trash,” Donald said. “It’s like they have no respect for the game or the players on the field.”

Despite his strong words, Donald acknowledged the rivalry between the Rams and Eagles is all in good fun. “I have a lot of respect for the Eagles as a team, but their fans can be a bit much sometimes,” he added.

It’s clear that Donald’s Pennsylvania roots and competitive spirit fuel his intense feelings towards Eagles fans. As the Rams continue to make their mark in the NFL, it’ll be interesting to see how this rivalry plays out on and off the field.

  • Steve Spurrier rips people who criticized Kirby Smart during 2024 season

Georgia finished the 2024 season 11-3 overall as the SEC champions despite falling short of their national championship goals.

It’s the first three-loss season since 2018, and are now two seasons removed from their consecutive national championships. When the Bulldogs’ lost 23-10 to Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, it led to some criticism on social media directed toward head coach Kirby Smart, which Steve Spurrier believes is unfair.

“He won the SEC this year,” Spurrier, who has six SEC championship under his belts along with a national championship in 1996, said on Monday during Another Dooley Noted Podcast. “There are two goals when you’re in the SEC — you want to win your conference, and then if you’re fortunate, then you want to win the national [championship].

“Kirby [Smart] won the SEC. I remember Kirby saying that it may be harder to win the SEC than it is the national, because you’ve got to go through the SEC.”

Spurrier noted that it’s not uncommon to have the SEC Championship feature a rematch between two teams who met in the regular season. This year, it happened to be Georgia and Texas.

He also touched on the arguement that was made during the season about whether teams would even want to compete in the SEC Championship game given the new format for the College Football Playoff. A loss would add an extra game to the loses their schedule with a first-round playoff game while the other enjoys a first-round bye. Some believe this way of thinking diminishes winning a conference title.

Spurrier pushed back against this notion, praising Smart and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian for their attitude toward the game in December.

“Winning the SEC is quite an accomplishment,” Spurrier continued. “… I mean, look around. Since 1990 Ole Miss has never won one. Lane Kiffin was worried about his guys getting hurt if they played in the SEC Championship. It doesn’t make sense, but Kirby [Smart] looked forward to it, and so did Texas. [Steve Sarkisian], he looked forward to winning the SEC.

“It’s amazing that all the other coaches would not have that attitude. … But conference championships are really, really important, in my opinion.”

Whether the perception of conference championships in relation to the CFP shifts in the future remains to be seen, but Spurrier remains firm in his belief that the SEC title specifically is one of the most coveted trophys a team can win during the football season.

Former University of Florida and South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier did not hold back when addressing those who criticized Georgia head coach Kirby Smart during the 2024 college football season.

In a recent interview, Spurrier expressed his frustration with the backlash Smart received from fans and media members, despite leading the Bulldogs to another successful season. Spurrier defended Smart’s coaching abilities and praised his leadership on and off the field.

“Kirby Smart is one of the best coaches in the country, and it’s ridiculous to see people questioning his abilities,” Spurrier said. “He has consistently produced winning teams and has earned the respect of his players and colleagues. Those who criticize him don’t understand the game of football.”

Spurrier went on to say that Smart’s track record speaks for itself, with multiple SEC championships and playoff appearances under his belt. He also commended Smart for his dedication to developing young talent and creating a winning culture at Georgia.

“Kirby Smart is a true leader and a mastermind when it comes to coaching football,” Spurrier added. “Anyone who doubts his abilities clearly doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I have no doubt that he will continue to lead Georgia to success in the years to come.”

Spurrier’s passionate defense of Kirby Smart serves as a reminder that even the most successful coaches can face criticism, but it takes a true football mind to recognize and appreciate their accomplishments.

  • Former Oregon Ducks star rips his NFL team, says changes ‘need to be made’ after missing the playoffs again

Former Oregon Ducks star rips his NFL team, says changes ‘need to be made’ after missing the playoffs again

DeForest Buckner is tired of sitting at home during the NFL playoffs.

The Indianapolis Colts (7-9) were officially eliminated from the playoff race after an embarrassing 45-33 loss to the lowly New York Giants on Sunday. The win snapped a 10-game losing streak for the Giants (3-13), who entered the game with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL draft, but dropped to No. 4 following the win over the Colts.

The Colts allowed Giants’ journeyman backup quarterback Drew Lock to look like Peyton Manning. Lock threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns – tying his career-high – and one rushing touchdown with no sacks or interceptions. The Giants scored 45 points despite entering the game with the worst offense in the league. It was the most points the Colts have allowed all season.

Unsurprisingly, the Colts’ star defensive lineman wasn’t happy.

“I’m going to be honest, as [an] entire team, we (expletive) the bed,” Buckner told reporters after the game. “Another year and it’s frustrating. You know what I mean? Because like I’ve been saying, I can see what we have. It’s just, we’re not getting over that hump … I just feel like it’s really details that we’re missing that’s hurting us.”

The loss marked the third time in the last four seasons that the Colts have failed in a must-win situation when it comes to the playoffs. They haven’t been to the playoffs since the 2020 season, Buckner’s first season in Indianapolis.

The Colts’ inability to win critical games late in the season and ongoing playoff futility prompted questions about possible changes in the offseason.

“There’s obviously going to be people that are going to still be in the building, people that are not,” Buckner told reporters after the game. “Changes are going to need to be made, you know what I mean? I understand that, and we all understand that in the building. You’ve got to make those changes for the better.”

The Colts will finish the season with a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Former Oregon Ducks star and current NFL player, Marcus Mariota, recently expressed his frustration with his team’s performance after missing the playoffs once again. In a candid interview, Mariota did not hold back in his criticism, stating that changes “need to be made” in order for the team to find success.

Mariota, who was a standout quarterback at Oregon before being drafted into the NFL, has been a key player for his team but has yet to see postseason success. In his interview, he expressed disappointment in the team’s inability to make the playoffs despite their talent and potential.

The former Ducks star did not name specific changes that need to be made, but his comments have sparked speculation about potential roster moves or coaching changes in the offseason. Fans of the team are eager to see what steps will be taken to address the issues highlighted by Mariota.

As the offseason approaches, all eyes will be on the team to see if they heed Mariota’s calls for change and make the necessary adjustments to turn their fortunes around. Only time will tell if his words will lead to meaningful improvements for the team.

‘A blind person could see the red flags’: Pat McAfee rips Indianapolis Colts after loss to Giants

Pat McAfee has some things to get off his chest.

The former Indianapolis Colts punter and current ESPN and WWE personality unloaded on the team Sunday night after its 45-33 loss to the New York Giants ended its playoff hopes.

His long post on social media noted, “In the biggest moments everybody with a brain knew they’d crack.. and they did.”

    He was just warming up.

“A blind person could see the red flags on this team.. Work ethic questions, NEVER happens on good teams.. Preparation commitment questions, NEVER happens on good teams.. Late to meetings, NEVER happens on good teams.. Late to/skipping treatment, NEVER happens on good teams.. The franchise QB tapped out of a game.. on 3rd down.. in the red zone.. because he was tired… NEVER HAPPENED in the history of the NFL.”

Doyel: Frustratingly consistent Colts put joke on us. Playoffs?!

McAfee took aim at fans who he says tried to vilify him earlier this season after he pointed out these issues. Also, he’s unsure how the Colts should move forward.

“I have no idea how they fix it.. I don’t think it’s like a light switch. “Alright, we’re gonna become Pros now” but… maybe it is, but what do I know?”

McAfee said he feels terribly for team support personnel, isn’t renewing his season tickets, and believes that players and coaches “deserve whatever happens to them,” calling some of them “bums.”

He concludes: “I’ve never seen a group waste opportunities/talent/money more than this group.”

This article originally appeared on Indianapolis Star: Pat McAfee rips Indianapolis Colts after elimination from NFL playoffs

Pat McAfee, former Indianapolis Colts punter turned media personality, did not hold back in his criticism of his former team following their disappointing loss to the New York Giants.

In a scathing post-game analysis, McAfee declared that “a blind person could see the red flags” in the Colts’ performance. He pointed out numerous mistakes and missed opportunities that ultimately cost the team the game.

McAfee criticized the coaching staff for their questionable decisions and lack of adjustments throughout the game. He also called out the players for their lackluster effort and inability to execute on crucial plays.

Overall, McAfee did not mince words when it came to his assessment of the Colts’ performance. He made it clear that he expects more from a team with playoff aspirations and warned that they need to make significant improvements if they want to be taken seriously in the postseason race.

It remains to be seen how the Colts will respond to McAfee’s criticism, but one thing is for sure – he will continue to hold them accountable for their mistakes and shortcomings.

Pat McAfee rips Indianapolis Colts after elimination from NFL playoffs

Pat McAfee, former Indianapolis Colts punter turned sports analyst, did not hold back in his criticism of his former team after they were eliminated from the NFL playoffs. In a scathing post-game analysis, McAfee ripped into the Colts, calling out their lackluster performance and questioning their decision-making on the field.

McAfee did not mince words as he dissected the Colts’ shortcomings, pointing to their inability to capitalize on opportunities and their inability to make key plays when it mattered most. He also criticized the coaching staff for their questionable play-calling and clock management.

As a former player who knows the ins and outs of the Colts organization, McAfee’s words carry significant weight. His passionate and unfiltered critique of the team serves as a wake-up call for the Colts and a reminder that they must do better if they want to compete at the highest level in the NFL.

While some may view McAfee’s comments as harsh, there is no denying that his analysis is rooted in a deep love and passion for the Colts. As a die-hard fan and supporter of the team, McAfee’s frustration is shared by many who expected more from a talented roster with high expectations.

In the end, McAfee’s post-game rant serves as a rallying cry for the Colts to regroup, learn from their mistakes, and come back stronger next season. Only time will tell if the team can rise to the challenge and prove their critics wrong.

  • Single mom of six displaced after EF-1 tornado rips through SW Houston

Single mom of six displaced after EF-1 tornado rips through SW Houston

HOUSTON – The National Weather Service confirms that an EF-1 tornado briefly touched down in Southwest Houston during a rash of tornadoes across Texas on Thursday.

A small, yet powerful tornado caused isolated damage to the Meadows Place neighborhood off of Kirkwood Road and Bissonnet Street.

According to a survey by the National Weather Service, wind speeds topped 90 miles per hour.

Several homes along Plumbrook Drive had damage, but one was severely damaged. The home belongs to Tanrita Johnson, a single mother of six.

Tanitra Johnson looks at damage to her home caused by an EF-1 tornado that touched down in Southwest Houston on December 26, 2024. (Copyright 2024 by KPRC Click2Houston – All rights reserved.)

“To look at all the damage, the garage door was gone, windows missing, roof fell in. It’s kind of hard to look at,” she told KRPC 2′s Gage Goulding. “It could have been worse. Lives could have been lost.”

Johnson wasn’t home at the time the tornado touched down around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. Actually, no one was home. Not even the family dog.

Tanitra Johnson: “It’s a blessing to still have my children.”

Gage Goulding: “Does that run through your mind all the what ifs? What could have happened?”

Tanitra Johnson: “Yes, because I was like, what if I was home? I probably would have tried to run out because the windows came in to see what was going on.”

Neighbor’s security cameras captured the tornado moving through the neighborhood.

A few doors down, a security camera captured the moment a USPS mail truck was overturned with the postal worker still inside.

Thankfully, the person was okay and able to climb out.

“The safety and well-being of our employees are of the utmost importance to the U.S. Postal Service,” said a USPS spokesperson. “In the case of the recent weather-related incident, which occurred on December 27, we can report that the USPS employee is safe and recovering. The postal vehicle was retrieved, secured, and taken to the local Post Office. Additionally, the mail was recovered immediately, and the Postal Service took steps to ensure prompt delivery of all items. We appreciate and value our dedicated employees. The USPS will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and implement measures to safeguard both our employees and the mail they handle.”

It’s that video and other tale tell signs that helped the National Weather Service figure out what happened here.

“There is some evidence of some twisting,” said Science and Operations Office at the National Weather Service, Lance Wood. “So, this really looks like a brief touchdown and then that’s it.”

Wood was working the radar on Thursday when the Natoinal Weather Service was issuing tornado warnings.

However, a small, quick, yet powerful tornado like this one can sometimes slip under the radar.

Gage Goulding: “Was this cell here warned or no?”

Lance Wood: “No. We put out a significant weather advisory because we knew we were watching it really closely, but there was no tornado warning for this particular cell. I think it just happened too fast.”

Happening just as fast is the new dilemma Tanitra is facing: where will she and her kids sleep tonight?

“I really do need help,” she said.

The American Red Cross was out surveying damage today to offer assistance. They honed in on her home, the most damaged of all.

“This is going to take a while to, you know, be finished,” Johnson said. “So, I have to do something.”

On April 7th, a powerful EF-1 tornado tore through Southwest Houston, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Among those affected is a single mother of six who has been left displaced and in need of assistance.

The tornado ripped through the neighborhood, destroying homes and leaving many families without shelter. For this single mom, the devastation is particularly heartbreaking as she now has to find a way to provide for her children and rebuild their lives.

As the community comes together to support those impacted by the tornado, it is important to remember those who may be struggling the most, like this single mom. Donations of clothing, food, and other essential items can make a big difference in helping her and her children get back on their feet.

If you would like to help, please consider reaching out to local relief organizations or starting a fundraiser to support this family in their time of need. Together, we can make a difference and help this single mom and her children recover from this devastating event.
