In terms of corporate taxes, Cramer also noted that the extension of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act seems likely, but he questioned whether Trump might push even further, potentially altering the tax landscape in a more significant way. Perhaps one of the most pressing questions Cramer raised concerned the bond market and its tolerance for large U.S. government budget deficits.

    “And considering that last question, here’s a doozy: Will the bond market continue to tolerate big budget deficits from the US government?”

    He pointed out that some argue the bond market has already begun to take a more stringent stance on national debt, evident in the rising treasury yields over recent months. Still, Cramer left it at that, suggesting the situation remains uncertain.

    “Difficult to answer because as we learned last time, I mean, Donald Trump is not a predictable president, great for cable news ratings, but sometimes frustrating when you’re in the business of making predictions. Hmm, maybe a higher cash position than normal could beckon.”

    For this article, we compiled a list of 9 stocks that were discussed by Jim Cramer during the episodes of Mad Money aired on January 7 and 8. We listed the stocks in ascending order of their hedge fund sentiment as of the third quarter, which was taken from Insider Monkey’s database of 900 hedge funds.

    Wall Street analysts rerated Amazon.com Inc AMZN as the U.S. kicked in its earnings season last week.

    • Needham analyst Laura Martin reiterated a Buy rating on Amazon and a $250 price target.
    • BofA Securities analyst Justin Post maintained a Buy rating on Amazon with a price target of $255.

    Needham: Martin hosted a panel of prior Amazon employees during the Needham Growth Conference.

    In answer to a question from the audience, the panelists agreed that Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is the right person to lead the company today. Amazon Web Services is both the present (i.e., high margins and high revenue growth rate) and the future (i.e., large language models and generative AI features, tools, and applications), they said.

    They also agreed that Amazon’s strategy is shifting away from e-commerce and toward becoming the backbone of large language models, or LLMs. Jassy was the former founder and president of AWS.

    Since Jassy became CEO, he has lowered the amount spent on long-term bets, such as the Fire Phone and Grocery, to improve near-term profitability and reallocate more resources toward AWS.

    Amazon has a “debate and commit” culture. After everyone voices their disagreements, a decision is reached, and everyone commits. The downside of this culture is that challenging projects and problems never stop. If the old team cannot figure it out, new folks are rotated into that problem. Among all the panelists, they could only think of 2 projects that had ever been shut down. This inability to end risk-taking projects wastes time and resources.

    Amazon has a rotational culture in which employees switch roles every 18-24 months. This rotation ensures fresh perspectives on every problem. It also redirects top talent to high-priority and difficult projects, but it risks talent burnout and high turnover rates.

    One panelist argued that Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner (DSP) model, which relies on external contractors, may not be sustainable over time. Low control and high turnover among DSPs make it hard for Amazon to maintain operational excellence in last-mile delivery.

    Retail operates on very thin margins, but operating efficiencies bolster its profitability over time.

    Investments in automation and “hands-off-the-wheel” technology can improve margins in the future.

    Ad Business is leading the industry in data collection and tying ad revenue to actual purchases on Amazon. They said it is the best Retail Media Network available today, and Martin agreed.

    BofA Securities: Amazon outperformed the Nasdaq and e-commerce sector in 2024 (+44%, versus 25% for Nasdaq), aided by multiple expansions, with forward-year P/S growing to 3.1 times (versus 2.3 times at the start of 2024).

    While AWS growth and Retail margin expectations have increased, Post noted AI-driven Cloud growth remains a top sector opportunity, while Retail Margin expansion can continue to drive outsized profit growth versus peers. Amazon is also relatively well positioned for the impact of US$ appreciation, which aids Cloud margins.

    Post noted that the strong AI-demand cycle for AWS will drive upside in 2025. Further, Retail Margin efficiencies drive outsized profit growth for the company.

    Amazon is a robotics play, which should drive a multi-year productivity cycle and reduce labor dependence, according to the analyst. The analyst also flagged a ramp in Prime Video ad dollars, further headcount cost savings from mid-level manager cuts, and online retail normalization as additional growth drivers for 2025.

    Post slightly lowered his 2025 estimates for recent US$ appreciation. He lowered 2025 International Revenue by $7 billion (~5% of International revenue but just 1% of total), offset by slightly higher AWS margins. For fiscal 2025, Post estimates Revenue and EPS of $700 billion and $6.10, down from $707 billion and $6.13 prior.

    Relative to large-cap peers, Post still expects more stable revenue growth in the first half of 2025 (with potential Cloud acceleration) and better margin expansion and noted Amazon as a relatively strong player in AI (Cloud revenues, robotics, R&D efficiencies).

    Price Action: Amazon stock is up 2.35% at $231.25 at last check Tuesday.

    Local high school robotics teams prepare to ‘kick off’ season | Local News


    The members of the Fighting Mongooses, the Northwest Georgia College & Career Academy’s FIRST Robotics Competition team, are “gearing up” for the 2025 season, said coach and mentor Marten Hutchison.

    FIRST is the acronym for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

    “The season is about to kick off, so we’re about to really set off our whole design and build process,” Hutchison said.

    Hutchison said each year FIRST Robotics announces a designated theme for season competition, with this year’s theme “Reefscape.”

    “We know that it’s got something to do with being underwater or the ocean,” he said.

    Throughout the season, teams in the FIRST Robotics Competition typically design and build their own robots and participate in games that involve challenges such as collecting and shooting balls or objects at a target or designated area to score points.

    This is the 10th season for the Career Academy’s robotics team. Hutchison said the worldwide FIRST Robotics kickoff event is Saturday at noon and will be livestreamed on the FIRST Robotics Competition’s YouTube channel.

    “It’s almost like the Olympics’ opening ceremony in a way,” Hutchison said. “It’s a telecast, and (officials) will describe what the games are going to be like this year. FIRST (Robotics) usually releases the game information at the start of the year and it’s global, so everybody that participates in the competition gets the same presentation at the same time.”

    Hutchison said the kickoff event will include an animation describing how the gameplay will be conducted for the 2025 season.

    “It’ll show us how the field elements are going to be, what the challenges will be, how you can score points on the field and how you can earn bonuses,” he said. “A typical (game) involves three teams against three teams and you rotate teams through qualifiers before the finals, which is like a final four playoff. After the animation, then they’ll do a live broadcast where announcers will talk through each of the field elements and how things will play out.”

    To prepare for the kickoff and their first competition, which is March 7-8 at the Dalton Convention Center, Hutchison said the Fighting Mongooses will host a watch party at the Career Academy on Saturday that will include robotics teams from Dalton High School, North Murray High School and Adairsville High School.

    “All four teams will watch the kickoff ceremony together and when that gets done, (FIRST Robotics officials) will send us a code to unlock the rule book for this year,” he said. “Then, we’ll go through the rules and create notes. The key points we’re looking for this year are key dimensions on the field, like how tall or how far away (an obstacle or challenge) is. Then we’re also looking for what the point values are if you’re shooting a ball and how bonuses play out.”

    Hutchison said the teams will also look for key information on the robot itself.

    “Every year, we have constraints put in place regarding the robot’s size, shape, reach or weight,” he said. “Some years, you may only be allowed to make your robot two feet tall until the last 30 seconds of the (game), and then you might be able to be as tall as you want to because there’s always a final challenge in every match.”

    He said the Career Academy kickoff event allows local teams to “get a jumpstart” on the rule book and gameplay as “quickly as possible.”

    “It’s kind of a strategy and planning session,” he said. “Because this sets the tone for the next six to eight weeks. That will be the key information we need to start thinking about what we’ll be designing the robot to do on the field and what we want to design towards. You need to strategize and think about how to maximize points, and the kickoff really starts the clock ticking. You have from then until your first competition to do your brainstorming and your ideation, then your (computer-aided design). After that, we’ll build our prototypes, then test, iterate and build again until the competition shows up.”

    Hutchison said the Fighting Mongooses, which features more than 20 high school students at the Career Academy, will have “about two months” to create and test their robot.

    “(March 6) is when we have to have all of our stuff at the (Dalton Convention Center), so we’ve got basically about eight weeks to figure it out and test it,” he said.

    The competition March 7-8 at the convention center is open to the public and is set to feature more than 40 teams, Hutchison said.

    “Matches usually run from 9 (a.m.) until 4 (p.m.) and everybody will have their areas and pit booths set up the day before,” he said. “It should be a good way to start off the season.”
