Jelly Roll‘s FireAid performance was nothing less than a wild one.
On Thursday, the 40-year-old “Son of a Sinner” crooner took the stage in Los Angeles as part of the FireAid benefit concert raising funds for the deadly wildfires that sparked devastation across the county earlier this month.
He started his set with a popular tune of his own, “I Am Not Okay” from his 2024 album Beautifully Broken, before surprising the crowd with Travis Barker and a lively rendition of Bob Seger‘s “Hollywood Nights.”
In videos obtained by several media outlets, including Variety and Billboard, the duo—joined by a live backing band of their own—could be heard belting out the lyrics to the hit from Seger’s 1978 album Stranger in Town while interacting with the crowd of onlookers, who remained astonished by the blink-182 drummer’s energetic performance.
“Epic collab!” one TikTok user exclaimed. “Jelly Roll and Travis Barker bringing the heat! .”
“Hollywood nights or Jellyroll nights ,” another joked.
“Drumming from Travis is on point,” a different fan wrote in part via X (formerly Twitter).
“Great job @travisbarker,” praised Green Day drummer Tre Cool. “That song is a beast!”
“Wish I could have been at this tonight,” someone else lamented.
Along with the couple of rockers, the Jan. 30 benefit concert included several other exciting performances from A-list talent, including Pink, Lady Gaga, Sting, Stevie Wonder, Billie Eilish, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks and Katy Perry.
The FireAid concert series was set up to support recovery efforts from the Palisades and nearby Eaton Wildfires that scorched southern California in mid-January. The fires, which began on Jan. 7, destroyed more than 16,000 homes and businesses and took the lives of at least 11 people. As of Friday, Jan. 31, officials report the Palisades fire to be 98 percent contained and the nearby Eaton fire as 99 percent contained.
