‘Real Time’ host Bill Maher did not rule out Trump’s plans for the Gaza Strip
“Real Time” host Bill Maher didn’t completely rule out President Donald Trump’s plans for the Gaza Strip, siding with the idea that the war-torn territory “could be something else” in the future.
Trump made international headlines this week for saying the U.S. would “take over” and “level” Gaza after Israel ends its war with Hamas, displacing the Palestinian population to other Arab countries while developing what Trump called the “riviera of the Middle East” in order to bring stability in the region.
During his panel discussion, Maher told his guest Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., that there was a “little daylight” between the two of them on the subject.
JOURNALISTS SOUND ALARM OVER TRUMP’S ‘PREPOSTEROUS’ GAZA COMMENTS, WARN OF ‘ETHNIC CLEANSING’
“He said, ‘You know, it’s going to be the riviera-‘ okay, that’s a little ridiculous,” Maher said. “But you know, this idea that it could be Dubai instead of Haiti, which is really what it is. it’s just like Haiti, run by a criminal gang, by a terrorist mafia gang. That’s why it’s a hellhole, not just for the Israelis next door, but for the people who live there, who hate Hamas as well. And it could be something else.”
“This is something I read in op-eds in The New York Times, 10, 15, 20 years ago. Gaza does not have to be that. It could be something closer to Dubai. So the fact that Donald Trump, in his childlike way, throws that idea out there, is not the worst thing in the world,” Maher continued.

The liberal comedian went on to call out Trump’s comments being “all over the map,” including when he suggested the U.S. would be responsible for clearing out the explosives hidden in Gaza’s infrastructure, sarcastically asking “What could go wrong?”
“And again, the kernel of an idea here is valid, but the idea, but introducing the notion of American troops, and also, wouldn’t this be kind of expensive for you America First people?” Maher asked Donalds.
Puck News’ Tara Palmeri interjected, “It’s like Donald Trump wants to turn Gaza into Atlantic City, but like, let’s not forget how he left Atlantic City.”
“I don’t know if I’d leave him to Gaza,” Palmeri told Maher.

Donalds pushed back, saying he’d rather have Trump call the shots with Gaza “than the Iranians.”
“Even the American troops piece that has been pulled back. That’s not the case. But you have to have some vision for what that part of the region should be,” Donalds said. “So is it [Israeli] involvement? Yes. Could it be Saudi Arabia as well? Could be. It depends on what the other nations in that region want, but what nobody wants is an Iran that is dominating that region.”
“I agree with the notion that it’s good to open a window and let in some fresh air, because people do get locked into silly ideas that we then take as the group think,” Maher responded. “For example, Syrian Civil War, all those refugees, a million wound up in Germany. Saudi Arabia took none. And we all just pretend this makes sense? That no other Arab countries will take refugees who you say are your brethren?”

“I personally think that’s actually the mislogic of a lot of liberal-leaning leaders in Europe and in America,” Donalds continued, “thinking that you can just take refugees from these parts of the world and not think through the detailed steps of what it is for those countries to rebuild.”
“And I’m not talking about nation building a la George W. Bush, I’m not talking about that, but you’ve got to have leadership in that region. There have to be peace accords in that region. And so when President Trump was leaving the first time, that was the premise of the Abraham accords. Have the Arab states with Israel actually work together in peace so you can actually develop a stable, political, religious, whatever they choose that to be, and an economic area so people can live in harmony and peace, period,” Donalds added.
In a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the outspoken host did not shy away from discussing President Trump’s controversial plans for the Gaza Strip. Despite criticism from many, Maher did not outright dismiss the idea, stating that Trump’s unconventional approach may actually bring about some positive change in the region. The discussion sparked a heated debate among Maher’s guests and audience members, with some expressing concern about the potential consequences of Trump’s actions in Gaza. However, Maher stood firm in his belief that it’s important to consider all perspectives and not automatically dismiss ideas simply because they come from an unconventional source.
As always, Maher’s willingness to engage in difficult conversations and challenge prevailing opinions made for a thought-provoking and controversial episode of Real Time. Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Maher is never afraid to tackle the tough topics head-on.

Without a key tweak to the laws of golf six years ago, Scottie Scheffler’s miracle save at Spyglass Hill would not have happened.
The world No. 1 made his return to the fairways at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California having missed the start of the 2025 PGA Tour season due to a freak accident suffered on Christmas Day.
Scheffler was all smiles having produced a stunning save on the 18th at SpyglassCredit: Getty But Scheffler, so long a model of frightening consistency, suffered a rare misstep on the par-five 18th hole at Spyglass.
The American drove his tee shot to the left, with the ball sailing wide of the fairway and settling onto the beach where it lay among some stones near the water.
Before he ventured to the beach to see where his ball had come to a stop, Scheffler was seen having a discussion with one of the officials.
Scheffler’s ball was found nestled among a pile of small rocks and he soon began moving some of them out of the way so he could make a clean shot.
Had Scheffler found himself in that same scenario before 2019, he would not have been able to clear the rocks.
But the United States Golf Association and the R&A made a tweak to the law regarding loose impediments that year.
The new rules granted players permission to move around any loose impediments on the course.
Prior to the rule change, players were restricted as to where they could move any loose items.
With the new rules in place, Scheffler was able to chip his way off the beach and back onto the fairway.
Three shots later, Scheffler breathed a sigh of relief having successfully putted for par.
A major rule change in 2019 ensured Scheffler wouldn’t be penalised for his actionsCredit: Getty Speaking after his round, Scheffler conceded he wouldn’t have been able to save his 18th hole had the rules regarding loose impediments remained the same.
“With the old rules I think I probably would have gone back to the tee just because of the way the rocks were around my ball and the unpredictability of not being able to get it up over the top,” Scheffler said.
“But to be able to move some rocks definitely made the shot easier.”
Scheffler added: “[If I hadn’t been able to remove the rocks], I don’t know if I would have been able to get my ball up over the rocks in front of me.
“I didn’t really take that good of a look at it. I would have assumed I probably wouldn’t have been able to get it up over the top.
“I think I would have probably tried to not hit it [if I hadn’t been able to move the rocks], because if I mess it up, I’m back still on the tee box hitting like my fourth shot.”
The world No. 1 sits some way behind Pebble Beach leader Sepp StrakaCredit: Getty Thanks to his par on the final hole, Scheffler finished with a score of two-under in the second round and seven-under for the tournament.
Scheffler’s score has him just three strokes off a five-player tie for fourth but sits a whopping seven shots behind runaway leader Sepp Straka.
The Austrian finished seven-under in the first and second round to sit clear at the top of the leaderboard, with Australia’s Cam Davis and American Russell Henley tied for second on 11-under.
Scottie Scheffler, one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour, found himself in a moment of relief at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am thanks to a recent golf rule change.During the tournament, Scheffler faced a difficult situation where his ball ended up in a divot on the fairway. Under the old rules, he would have been forced to play the ball as it lies, leading to a potentially disastrous outcome. However, thanks to a new rule implemented by the USGA, Scheffler was able to take relief from the divot, giving him a much more favorable lie to work with.
This rule change proved to be a game-changer for Scheffler, allowing him to navigate the difficult course at Pebble Beach with more ease and ultimately helping him secure a strong finish at the tournament.
Scheffler’s experience serves as a reminder of the importance of golf rule changes in ensuring fair and equitable play for all competitors. As the sport continues to evolve, it is crucial that rules are updated to reflect the needs of modern-day players and provide them with the best possible conditions to showcase their skills.
Overall, Scheffler’s successful outing at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am stands as a testament to the impact that rule changes can have on the game of golf, and the relief that they can bring to players in challenging situations.

#Scottie #Scheffler #relieved #golf #rule #change #saved #Pebble #Beach #ProAmExplained: The Concussion Sub Rule Loophole That Allowed Specialist Bowler Harshit Rana To Replace Part-Timer Shivam Dube | IND vs ENG 2025
In the fourth India-England T20I, specialist pacer Harshit Rana was a concussion substitute for all-rounder Shivam Dube – a clause in the ICC’s laws allowing India to do so despite the two not being “like-for-like” players.
Off the penultimate ball of the first innings, Dube, who scored 53, was struck on the helmet by a Jamie Overton bouncer. He was checked briefly by the Indian team physio, before going on to face the last delivery of the innings, taking India to 181-9.
Initially, Dube did not come out to field in the second innings, with Ramandeep Singh standing in as a substitute fielder. As the innings wore on, Dube did not take the field and it emerged that Harshit Rana was on the ground instead.
There were explanations ventured by the broadcast commentators that Rana may be a concussion substitute for Dube, given the blow the latter had taken earlier on – this was confirmed at the end of the 10th over, meaning this was now officially Rana’s T20I debut.
Why was the Harshit Rana-Shivam Dube concussion sub controversial?
England captain Jos Buttler was not happy with the decision to allow Rana to replace Dube, and former England international Kevin Pietersen said on commentary that he didn’t like the call.
The ICC playing conditions state that a concussion substitute must be a “like-for-like” replacement for a concussed player. Dube is largely a batting all-rounder, who can bowl seam-up, but rarely does so for India.
Rana, on the other hand, is a specialist pace bowler, who can swing the bat a bit – meaning the argument can be made that these two players are not like-for-like.
Dube has bowled nine overs in his last 12 T20Is, while Rana, making his T20I debut, has just two T20 runs to his name.
So why were India allowed to make the change?
Clause 1.2.7.4 of the ICC’s T20I Playing Conditions states, “In assessing whether the nominated Concussion Replacement should be considered a like-for-like player, the ICC Match Referee should consider the likely role the concussed player would have played during the remainder of the match, and the normal role that would be performed by the nominated Concussion Replacement.”
Since the role to be considered by the ICC Match Referee is that of the player for the remainder of the game, Rana was allowed to be the substitute as he could bowl and field – the same role that Dube would have performed, had he remained on. Further support for the “like-for-like” aspect is that both players are pacers.
However, Clause 1.2.7.3 states that “The ICC Match Referee should ordinarily approve a Concussion Replacement Request if the replacement is a like-for-like player whose inclusion will not excessively advantage his/her team for the remainder of the match.”
Watch: England outsmart SKY with funky leg-side trap to cap off Mahmood triple-wicket maiden
There is a case to be made that Rana is a significantly higher-quality bowler than Dube, so the substitute would excessively advantage India for the remainder of the match – but that is a judgment call left up to the Match Referee.
Against Australia in 2020, India made a similar concussion subsitute as all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja made way for Yuzvendra Chahal – something Australia coach Justin Langer was unhappy about, although in that case the gap in quality between the two players may not have been as large as it is here.
In 2019, Bangladesh substituted wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das for specialist spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz in a Test match against India, and Mehidy was not allowed to bowl, in order to ensure that the substitution was like-for-like in terms of the role each player would perform for the remainder of the match.

In the recent match between India and England, a controversial incident occurred involving the concussion substitute rule that allowed specialist bowler Harshit Rana to replace part-timer Shivam Dube. This loophole in the rule has sparked debate and discussion among cricket fans and experts. The concussion substitute rule was introduced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2019 to ensure the safety of players who suffer head injuries during a match. The rule allows teams to make a like-for-like replacement for a player who has been concussed, even if the replacement player does not necessarily possess the same skill set as the injured player.
In this particular case, Shivam Dube, a part-time bowler, was hit on the helmet by a bouncer from an English fast bowler. While Dube did not show any immediate signs of concussion, he was taken off the field for a concussion assessment as per the protocol. Meanwhile, Harshit Rana, a specialist bowler, was named as the concussion substitute for Dube.
Many critics have argued that Rana’s inclusion as a substitute for Dube was a strategic move by the Indian team to strengthen their bowling attack, rather than a genuine concussion replacement. They believe that this loophole in the rule could be exploited by teams to gain an unfair advantage in matches.
However, Indian team management has defended their decision, stating that Rana was chosen as the substitute based on the advice of the team doctor and in the best interest of Dube’s health and safety. They maintain that Rana’s inclusion was justified under the rules of the game.
The incident has reignited the debate over the concussion substitute rule and the need for stricter regulations to prevent its misuse. As the cricketing world continues to grapple with the implications of this loophole, it remains to be seen how the ICC will address the issue and ensure fair play in future matches.

Jennifer Crumbley’s appeal: Judge expected to rule on request for new Oxford High School shooting trial
PONTIAC, Mich. (FOX 2) – An Oakland County judge is expected to make a decision Friday as Jennifer Crumbley, the Oxford High School shooter‘s mother, seeks a new trial.
Watch the hearing live above at 9 a.m.
Jennifer and her husband, James Crumbley, were both convicted by juries of four counts of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced to 10-15 years in prison for their role in the Nov. 30, 2021 school shooting. The charges were brought against the couple after their then-15-year-old son brought a gun to school and killed four people.
Judge to rule on Jennifer Crumbley’s appeal request
An Oakland County judge will hear arguments Friday before ruling on motions filed by Jennifer Crumbley’s attorney as she seeks a new trial and release from prison. Crumbley was convicted of involuntary manslaughter after her son killed four classmates at Oxford High School.
Last month, Jennifer’s attorney, Michael Dezsi, filed an appeal to her sentence, saying that her trial was “riddled with errors.” Issues raised in the appeal included the prosecution not disclosing agreements with key witnesses to jurors, publicity around the case, and Jennifer being convicted for not controlling her minor son, despite him being convicted as an adult.
However, on Thursday Judge Cheryl Matthews denied most of the motions filed by Dezsi. In court Friday, she will only hear arguments about the proffer agreements before making a final ruling.
Jennifer Crumbley wants out of prison
The backstory:
While the appeal is pending, Dezsi says Jennifer should be allowed to post bond and be released from prison because she “has committed no crime, has never harmed anyone, and is certainly not a flight risk.”
He went on to call the prosecutors “overreaching,” and said the case was the result of “attempts to pin the failings of a nation on the back of a parent.”
According to Dezsi, sentencing guidelines recommended a sentence as short as 43 months, but Jennifer received more than a decade behind bars.
“Having Mrs. Crumbley locked up at the Michigan Department of Corrections’ Women’s Huron Valley facility not only casts a dark shadow over the justice system but rewards the prosecution of a fabricated crime, setting a very dangerous precedent,” Dezsi said in a press release.
Dezsi argued that evidence was withheld from the trial, including information that two key witnesses who worked at the school entered into cooperation agreements to testify against Jennifer. According to Dezski, these agreements were not disclosed.
According to the appeal filing, the agreements should have been shared with the jury because the employees – Nick Ejak and Shawn Hopkins – interacted with the shooter the day of the crime, and had the chance to search his backpack before the shooting, but did not.
“These findings merely demonstrate why Hopkins and Ejak were given Proffer Agreements in the first place, because they had obvious criminal exposure,” Dezsi wrote. “To the extent that these witnesses testified so as to shift blame away from themselves and onto the parents, the jury should have been made aware of those Proffer Agreements so that they could more accurately and fully assess their credibility.”
Jennifer’s defense believes knowledge of the agreements would have helped with cross-examining Ejak and Hopkins. However, the prosecution denies that the pair were offered anything to testify.
In the court filing, Dezsi wrote that the prosecution argued that Jennifer did not control her minor child. However, he noted that her child was convicted and sentenced as an adult.
“These theories are both factually inconsistent and mutually exclusive amounting to a violation of Mrs. Crumbley’s due process rights under both federal and state law,” he wrote.
Dezsi also argued that the jury was told that they could convict Jennifer even if their verdict was not unanimous.
The other side:
After the appeal was filed, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the appeal, saying in part that ” James and Jennifer Crumbley are the rare, grossly negligent exception, and twenty-four jurors unanimously agreed that they are responsible for the deaths of Hana, Madisyn, Tate, and Justin. Holding them accountable for their role is one important step in making our schools safer.”

Oakland County Prosecutor McDonald doesn’t think Crumbley parents prosecution set precedent
The mass school shooting in Georgia echoes the 2021 Oxford incident – with allegations that the suspect’s father was given the gun he used as a gift.
Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of Ethan Crumbley, one of the teenagers responsible for the tragic shooting at Oxford High School in Michigan, has filed an appeal requesting a new trial for her son. The appeal argues that the original trial was unfair and that crucial evidence was not properly considered. Now, the judge is expected to rule on this request for a new trial. Many are closely following this case, as it raises important questions about accountability and justice in cases of school shootings.
Stay tuned for updates on the judge’s decision and the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding this heartbreaking tragedy. #OxfordHighSchool #JenniferCrumbley #newtrial #justice

Liverpool handed urgent contract demand as rule change ‘unlocks’ explosive transfer
Mo Salah has taken another significant step closer towards a mammoth switch to Saudi Arabia after FIFA introduced a transfer loophole allowing a move to go through sooner than expected – though Ian Wright has begged FSG not to give up on extending the Egyptian’s contract with words that will resonate with every Reds supporter.
The Egyptian king is a free agent at the end of the season and is already eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement to sign for an overseas club of his choosing – a potential departure that would hit Liverpool badly given the fantastic form Salah has been in this season. To date, the 32-year-old star has an incredible 40-goal contributions this season already (23 goals and 17 assists), ensuring he has an involvement for the Reds every 67.25 minutes he has been on the field under Arne Slot’s management.
While Salah has made it clear he is keen to extend his stay at Anfield, the inability of FSG to agree fresh terms with the 32-year-old have left them wide open to his departure. And in a recent update, Salah has admitted he remains some distance apart from agreeing extended terms with FSG.
As a result, trusted reporter Ben Jacobs revealed in great detail on Tuesday how Al-Hilal are growing in confidence that a deal to bring the player to Saudi Arabia can be pulled off, making clear the strong relationship that exists between officials in the country and the Egyptian’s agent, Ramy Abbas.
Now, multiple reports have revealed that a move to Riyadh could go through sooner than expected, and with Al-Hilal due to take part in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer, The FIFA Council have approved regulations for a unique transfer window to take place before the tournament kicks off. That means a move could go through any time between June 1-10 – and a matter of weeks before Salah’s deal at Anfield is officially due to expire.
In light of that, football pundit Wright claims FSG have no time to waste and insists they should bite the bullet and give Salah the contract he wants to remain at Anfield.
“If Liverpool are deliberating over the fact like: ‘Yes he’s having moments at this stage of his career, he’s at that age, should we take a chance?’ I’m going to take a chance,” Wright said on Premier League Productions.
“Because what’s going to happen is that Liverpool are in a progressive mode, they’re in the ascendancy, they’re going to bring in players, so even if he’s there but older, he will still have moments, it’s the kind of money I would spend.”
The huge wages on offer to Salah in Saudi as star drops exit hint
Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that there is now a growing fear at Anfield that Salah will move on at the end of the season. And while talks will continue at trying to find common ground, the fact that neither party are close to finding a compromise has left open the scenario that this will indeed be his final season on Merseyside.
It’s also understood that Al-Hilal have presented an offer to Salah’s agent, Abbas, worth £65m over two years – worth a staggering £600,000 a week to the player. Currently on £350,000 a week at Anfield, FSG know they cannot – and would not even attempt – to match such a salary. As a compromise to that offer, Salah is believed to be seeking some £400,000 a week over three years to stay on Merseyside – taking him just shy of his 36th birthday. But even that appears too big an ask for the Reds as it stands.
Just this weekend, Salah provided another update on his future, underlining his ambitions before he leaves and also having named five other teammates who will soon exit Anfield.
“My motivation this year was really to win a trophy and be a big part of winning that trophy, especially the Premier League,” Salah told multiple outlets before Liverpool’s match against Ipswich Town.
“There is still me, Virgil, Trent, Alisson, Joe [Gomez] and Robbo [Andy Robertson], so it’s five or six players left. So I think it’s necessary to win another trophy before we all go.
“I think we need another one. We won almost everything but we won [the Premier League] only once so hopefully we can win it twice. It would be great.”
Salah’s current record for Liverpool reads a goal contribution every 1.12 appearances, while the player recently became the first Reds player in history to break the 50-goal mark in European competition.
Salah has also broken the 20-goal mark in each of his eight seasons at Anfield and discussing his phenomenal numbers, Salah continued: “That is something incredible, something I am very proud of. I worked very hard for that.
“And being also a winger and scoring goals that make a difference in the game is quite hard and people will maybe appreciate it more when they see that in the future.
“It’s quite hard and tricky because sometimes when you do things every day and every year, people just think that it’s not hard. When you do it for six, seven, or eight years, people just say it’s normal to do it, but actually it’s not easy.
“It’s not easy at all because it’s very tricky to find a winger to score like 20 or 30 goals, for eight years in a row. But again, something I’m proud of.”
Salah heir named by Carragher; mammoth Nunez bid rejected
With speculation mounting that Salah could be on his way, FSG and sporting director Richard Hughes have quite rightly been doing their due diligence on would-be successors to the Egyptian on the right side of their attack.
And according to Jamie Carragher, he believes he has unearthed the player that Liverpool would feel is the ideal candidate to come in as his heir.
Another Reds star subject of interest in Saudi Arabia is Darwin Nunez and according to David Ornstein, the Reds have this month rejected a colossal offer for his services – leading his suitors Al Nassr to instead focus on a Bayer Leverkusen hotshot and an Aston Villa star instead.
Elsewhere, the Reds have suffered a monumental blow in their pursuit of Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez after he issued a strong 15-word statement to rule out a move to Anfield.
All 18 Champions League group stage matches will be shown on TNT at the same time in the biggest night of European football in the channel’s history.
It is the first time all 36 qualified teams will be shown on TV at the same time as TNT prepares for the final group stage game, where European heavyweights Manchester City and PSG risk losing out on the knockout stage.
Fans of Liverpool will be hoping to secure an eighth win out of eight, while Aston Villa take on Celtic in the Battle of Britain.
Viewers can watch every minute of every game on TNT Sports. You can get TNT Sports as an add on to your Amazon Prime subscription, or by buying a TNT Sports pass for £32.99. The pass will also allow you to watch the first knockout rounds in February.

VOTE: What should Mo Salah do next?
Liverpool FC has been handed an urgent contract demand following a recent rule change that could potentially “unlock” an explosive transfer for the club. The rule change, which allows clubs to sign players on pre-contract agreements six months before their current deal expires, has put Liverpool in a prime position to make a significant addition to their squad.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, the Reds have been urged to act quickly and secure the services of the player in question before other clubs swoop in.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the potential signing and are hopeful that it will provide a much-needed boost to the team as they continue to push for success in both domestic and European competitions.
Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story as Liverpool looks to capitalize on this rule change and secure a game-changing transfer.

Between their breakneck schedules, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have the secret to maintaining a strong relationship down to a science.
Speaking with PEOPLE ahead of her Lifetimes Tour, the pop star opened up about navigating her personal life — including her relationship with Bloom — while on the road.
“I’ve talked a lot about love languages and how important they are in learning your partner’s love language, and even if it isn’t your love language, tapping into that for them,” Perry, 40, tells PEOPLE exclusively.
Over time, Perry discovered that “acts of service” and “words of affirmation” are her love languages, she says.

“Verbal support is really important, I think, for both of us,” she adds.
Perry announced her Lifetimes Tour, in support of her 2024 album 143, on Monday, Jan. 27. The “Dark Horse” singer will kick off the U.S. leg of the outing in Houston on May 7 — and she promises the tour will be a “love-filled spectacle” and a “celebration of a lot of the songs that people know.”
While the show is about her fans dancing the night away and having a blast, Perry’s priorities are family, health and delivering a great performance.
“I’m 40. I have a family. I have a whole other world outside of this that I’m tending to as well. I know the responsibility of putting on a tour and how much people look forward to it,” the “Last Friday Night” singer says. “I’m really trying to stay in the best shape, give my body breaks, look after myself so that I can show up every night and give as close to 100% that I can.”
As for the actor, Perry previously opened up about his energy as a romantic partner during an appearance on Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
“He’s a real sage. We both have parts of ourselves. There’s two parts of us, our highest good, and then our carnal, material self. Ego,” she said of Bloom, 48, with whom she shares 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove. “When the ego is running the show, then it’s like, ‘Whoa.’ But when that’s in check, then we’re both something else.”

Perry met Bloom at a Golden Globes afterparty in January 2016. Before that, she she was “stuck in a bad, continuing loop” and wanted someone as curious about life as she is, Perry told Lowe. Before the award show, Perry “set so many intentions” under a full moon for a potential future in hopes of seeing “what’s out there in the world” romantically,” she added.
The couple got engaged in 2019 and welcomed Daisy the following year. She’s learned a lot about him since and is continuously impressed by his parenting abilities.
“I mean, life is not peachy keen, jelly bean. It’s about who you are in those really challenging moments,” she told Lowe at the time, “and I get to see who he is in those challenging moments. And it’s why I chose him.”
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples, and it seems like they have found the secret to a successful relationship. In an exclusive interview, Katy Perry revealed their No. 1 relationship rule that has helped them navigate the ups and downs of their romance.According to Perry, communication is key in their relationship. She emphasized the importance of being open and honest with each other, even when it’s difficult. “We always make sure to communicate with each other, even when it’s uncomfortable or challenging. It’s important to address any issues or concerns before they escalate,” Perry shared.
The singer also mentioned the importance of making time for each other despite their busy schedules. “Even though we both have hectic careers, we always prioritize spending quality time together. Whether it’s a date night or simply checking in with each other throughout the day, we make sure to stay connected,” she explained.
Perry and Bloom’s relationship rule serves as a reminder that successful relationships require effort, communication, and prioritizing each other’s needs. By following their advice, couples can strengthen their bond and create a lasting and fulfilling partnership.

NASCAR is heading into the 2025 Cup Series season with a few new rules. Most notably, NASCAR changed its playoff waiver policy, which will take away all of a driver’s playoff points for the 26-race regular season if they miss a race for non-medical or family reasons. According to one NASCAR executive, this rule didn’t necessarily need to go into place.
Hendrick Motorsports Vice Chairman Jeff Gordon joined SiriusXM NASCAR Radio for an interview last week and talked about the latest rule changes by NASCAR, including the playoff waiver policy that could be connected to Kyle Larson’s situation in 2024. Needless to say, Gordon isn’t a big fan of the new policy.
“That’s obviously the Kyle Larson rule,” Gordon said with a laugh on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “The one comment I’ll make about that is there’s a lot of debate over this, right? Last year, I was right there the whole time. I flew on the plane with Kyle from [Indianapolis] to Charlotte, and I personally don’t think NASCAR needed to take any further steps. Here’s my reason why: I saw the hurt on Kyle Larson’s face, and I could feel him letting his team down. I had the conversations with [Rick Hendrick] and the conversations he’s having with NASCAR, Chad Knaus, and Jeff Andrews. I heard it from fans and sponsors.”
“If you’ve never owned a team or driven a race car, then I understand why you feel like you need to take extra action. But if you ever have, there is nothing harder than making that decision and dealing with the consequences of not being in that car, Kyle not getting those points, and having the opportunity to win that race because the car was great. Justin Allgaier did an amazing job but to let down the team, to me, that’s what drives the decision of why you do it or don’t do it in the future. Not necessarily whether you get a waiver or not. But hey, I understand. NASCAR, that’s their decision, and we’ll go by that.”
Larson missed the 2024 Coca-Cola 600 in favor of the Indianapolis 500 after weather impacted the start time in Indiana. It took NASCAR a few days, but it eventually gave Larson a playoff waiver. NASCAR’s new playoff waiver policy can be directly attributed to Larson’s situation last season, and Gordon respectfully believes the rule didn’t need to be extended.

In a surprising turn of events, NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon has publicly voiced his disagreement with the league’s new ‘Kyle Larson Rule’ in 2025. The rule, which was implemented in response to Kyle Larson’s controversial comments made during a virtual race in 2020, prohibits drivers from using any form of hate speech or derogatory language while representing the sport.Gordon, known for his clean-cut image and professionalism both on and off the track, has always been a strong advocate for sportsmanship and fair play in NASCAR. However, he believes that the new rule goes too far in policing drivers’ speech and could potentially infringe on their freedom of expression.
In a recent interview, Gordon stated, “While I understand the importance of maintaining a positive image for the sport, I believe that penalizing drivers for their words, no matter how inappropriate, sets a dangerous precedent. We should be focusing on educating and promoting inclusivity rather than punishing those who make mistakes.”
Gordon’s comments have sparked a heated debate within the NASCAR community, with some fans and drivers supporting his stance, while others argue that the ‘Kyle Larson Rule’ is necessary to protect the sport’s reputation and ensure a welcoming environment for all participants.
It remains to be seen how NASCAR will respond to Gordon’s criticism and whether any changes will be made to the controversial rule. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. fed up with NASCAR waivers, ‘Kyle Larson Rule’
NASCAR has passed a few new waiver rules heading into the 2025 season and one of the ones that has drawn the most scrutiny has already been dubbed the ‘Kyle Larson Rule.’
That rule? NASCAR has changed its playoff waiver policy.
The new policy will strip all of a driver’s playoff points for the 26-race regular season if they miss a race for non-medical or family reasons.
It’s been called the Kyle Larson Rule, in part, because the driver needed a waiver to make the playoffs last season after missing the Coca-Cola 600 while trying to pull the double with the Indianapolis 500.
There’s at least one man with a lot of say-so in NASCAR circles that isn’t a fan of the new waiver rule in the slightest.
“I hate putting that label on it, but look: I don’t like this waiver stuff,” Dale Earnhardt Jr. said on the Dale Jr. Download. “Like the original, the whole idea of it, I just don’t love it. Listen, I mean, I’m trying not to use any examples, but man if you’re injured and you’re out, you’re injured and you’re out. I don’t think there should be a medical waiver.
“I don’t think there should be any waiver whatsoever. You show up, you race, you get points. If you don’t race, you don’t start, you don’t get the points. You just don’t. So what is the argument against that? Why do we need the waiver at all?”
Some like the idea of drivers like Larson being able to compete across various driving disciplines. It certainly created a fun viewership experience for the fans, with the will-he-won’t-he-make-it drama creating a truly unique angle last year.
“I don’t love the optics of it,” Earnhardt said.
Earnhardt seemed at a loss for how to process that drivers could be given a pass without racing the full slate. He asked his co-hosts on the show for an explanation in defense of the new waiver rules.
He didn’t find any of them particularly satisfying.
“It had been a certain way for so many years and then now you can miss races due to an injury and still run for a championship,” Earnhardt said. “And I just never really like thought that was part of the deal. So I guess when I was asking you what the argument against it is, I was hoping you might say, ‘Well, an NFL quarterback can get injured, come back and then take his team to the championship’ and say OK, that’s kind of what it’s like.”
To Earnhardt, though, it’s just tough luck if you’re forced to miss significant time on the racing circuit. Even if you’ve accumulated enough points to otherwise qualify.
“In my mind the waiver is only to make sure your big stars are in the playoffs,” Earnhardt said. “And so if something were to happen, somebody gets hurt or some medical issue happens — I don’t know that I feel that great, I don’t know that I feel good about the medical pass, getting the free pass off of an injury.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr. has had enough of NASCAR’s waivers and the controversial “Kyle Larson Rule.” The retired NASCAR driver took to social media to express his frustration with the league’s inconsistent handling of penalties and waivers for certain drivers. In his post, Earnhardt Jr. criticized NASCAR for granting waivers to drivers like Larson, who was reinstated after using a racial slur during a virtual race last year. The “Kyle Larson Rule” allows drivers who have been suspended for disciplinary reasons to apply for a waiver to be eligible for competition again.
Earnhardt Jr. argued that NASCAR’s waivers undermine the integrity of the sport and send the wrong message to fans and sponsors. He called for a more transparent and consistent policy when it comes to disciplinary actions and reinstatements.
Fans and fellow drivers rallied behind Earnhardt Jr., agreeing that NASCAR needs to hold all drivers accountable for their actions and uphold the values of the sport. Many called for a reevaluation of the waiver system and a more stringent approach to enforcing penalties.
As the debate continues, it remains to be seen whether NASCAR will make any changes to its policies in response to the criticism from Earnhardt Jr. and others in the racing community. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

New NXT champ Oba Femi is ready to rule
The Oba Femi era is upon us. (Photo via WWE) Harvard graduate Nicklette Izuegbu wrote and starred in a web series called “Nneka the Uber Driver,” loosely based on her life as a first generation Nigerian-American. The series revolves around her trying to get her family to embrace her titular career and explores the idea of expectations across cultures.
Newly crowned NXT Champion Oba Femi, an award-winning track and field athlete throughout college, had a similar conversation with his Nigerian parents when he chose to switch singlets and focus on professional wrestling as his trade. But where Nneka was met with disbelief, Femi’s career move made a lot more sense to his folks than his old one. “[Wrestling was] easy to explain,” he tells Uncrowned, “because imagine having to explain to your parents that you are going to go throw a metal ball [shot put] as far as you can for a living.” Throwing that metal ball has served as great preparation for throwing grown adults, and now that “The Ruler” has found his groove, he’s looking to see just how far he can go.
Wrestling’s fascination with former college athletes isn’t new. From Ron Simmons to Roman Reigns, Bob Backlund to Bianca Belair, collegiate stars are some of wrestling’s most well-known names. Between the men and women, former college wrestlers, basketball players, football players and track athletes have been featured in main events in the majority of WrestleManias. But Femi is the first real star produced under WWE’s NIL program, designed to be a direct pipeline from college to the WWE. A former shot putter for Middle Tennessee State University and later Alabama, Femi signed on with the program going into his final year of college eligibility. Despite being a two-time SEC champion in his chosen event, he put all professional aspirations on hold for the chance to succeed in a brand new field.
“I’m a man of commitment. If I decided tomorrow that I wanted to be a librarian, I will become the best librarian I could possibly be,” he says. “From the second I did sign, it was a commitment, and I really committed myself and threw myself into this. Being a fan [of wrestling] helped.”
Oba Femi has found new ways to use his shot put skill set. (Photo via WWE) There’s an energy, a feeling when Femi comes through the proverbial curtain. He feels important in a way you can’t teach, and lets the people decide if they want to love or hate his words and actions. It feels like he’s running with blinders on, locked into the task at hand. The crowd even honors his verbal inflection with a deep “Uh!” chant that mirrors Steve Austin’s infamous “What?” In just over two years, he’s become NXT’s longest-reigning North American Champion to date and now holds its top title after defeating Trick Williams at New Year’s Evil. And while he jokes with the crowd about it, he’s even a bit surprised at how fast he’s picked up the game and how much success he’s found in it so early on.
“No one ever [expects immediate success]. If they said they did, they lied,” Femi says. “It was never a question of my capabilities as a performer. I’ve always known eventually I would get this thing down.”
You can teach technique, you can practice promos, but you can’t teach timing. In a wrestling ecosystem where more and more people are capable of huge athletic feats, Femi is a willful throwback to the Ice Trains and Scott Nortons of the world. Femi says he finds inspiration in talents like Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker, both oh whom are former college athletes he praises for their fluidity. Like so many of the big men of yesteryear, he’s saving his big feats for the big moments, and in the meantime, he’s looking to bulldoze the competition. “It’s not the moves, it’s the understanding of what professional wrestling is in the first place,” he says.
“I’ve come around at a very opportune time when big-man wrestling is not the main thing. It’s become like a niche, almost a lost art because everyone’s doing Canadian Destroyers and everyone’s high flying and everyone’s spring-boarding, trying to pop the crowd. … It’s refreshing that the fans get to see an Oba Femi who comes in and stays on the ground and is physical and fires up and is riled up. I think people miss that.” NXT vice president Shawn Michaels makes it a point to bring up Femi when talking about the talents he sees as being centerpieces of WWE’s future. The Rock, who made a quick stop by NXT the same week as the “WWE Raw” Netflix debut, even found Femi backstage and shared a few words of encouragement with him. “He said, ‘Good job, great match. Can’t wait to see you on the main roster,’” Femi recalls.
A large part of Femi’s fast maturation was the talent put across from him from the start. While NXT is WWE’s developmental brand, it houses a lot of wrestling industry veterans, both as coaches and competitors. “It’s really a team sport,” he says. “It’s rivalries and competition, but at the same time it’s healthy competition and we all want to see each other win.” At Stand and Deliver 2024, Femi successfully defended the North American Championship against both Dijak and Josh Briggs, longtime veterans. He’s quick to express how much both of them helped him early on understanding pacing and making sure you aren’t just following one formula from match to match. “Josh Briggs and Dijak told me, ‘When they think you’re going here, that’s the time where you give them the swerve.’”
Isaac Odugbesan hard at work before his WWE career. (Kirby Lee, USA Today) On his way to becoming the division’s longest reigning champion, Femi faced former record-holder Wes Lee multiple times and ended their rivalry after defeating Lee at NXT Heatwave. “It’s just the little things he would tell me while we were working together,” Femi says. “There’ll be moments where it’ll be time to go and he would say, ‘No, hold, wait. Not yet. Let them get the sympathy. Let’s milk this moment.’ It’s just those little nuggets that Wes was able to pass down to me. Wes, as smaller of a frame he has, he brought it. It takes a special competitor, performer to bring things out of you.”
Femi also has a group of contemporaries that he feels not only pushes one another, but has the chance to be NXT’s next special crop of talent. “Me, Tony DiAngelo, Lexis King, Trick Williams,” he says. “We all have that mindset of, ‘Oh, we’re out there. Bring it. Bring it to me. Let’s make this good. Let’s give these fans what they came to see. Let’s make their money’s worth. Let’s give them their money’s worth.’ I’m so glad we have that healthy relationship.”
With the size, power and ability to bring out the best of his opponents, Femi is on the fast track to wrestling superstardom. He’s already setting records, he’s surrounded by his industry’s best and brightest, and has the attention of the people who are always looking for the next big thing. But for the time being, his entire focus is on getting better at his new craft, day by day. “I don’t focus on things like [winning a title] as the big wins,” he says. “This is great for me and the company as well because I plan to represent this brand the best I can.
“But it’s little things like putting someone else over, making someone a new star, passing on the title, passing on the mantle, having a good match with someone they didn’t think you were going to have a good match with — those are the wins for me. It’s never about the accolades in and of itself. If you chase the small victories and fall in love with the craft, you always achieve the big things.”
Introducing the new NXT champion, Oba Femi! After an impressive victory in the NXT championship match, Oba Femi is ready to rule the NXT roster with his undeniable talent and fierce determination. With his unique blend of athleticism, strength, and charisma, Oba Femi has quickly become a fan favorite and a force to be reckoned with in the ring. His journey to the NXT championship was not easy, but his hard work and dedication have paid off in a big way.
Now that he holds the coveted NXT championship title, Oba Femi is prepared to take on all challengers and prove why he is the rightful ruler of the NXT division. His reign as champion promises to be exciting, electrifying, and full of unforgettable moments.

#NXT #champ #Oba #Femi #ready #ruleTrump Reinstates Global Gag Rule
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 24, 2025
CONTACT: [email protected]Today, President Trump reinstated the Global Gag Rule. Originally authored during the Reagan Administration, the Global Gag Rule prohibits international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that receive U.S. government funds from using their own private funds to provide abortions. The policy also prevents NGOs from lobbying their own government for a change in abortion laws, conducting public education campaigns about abortion, referring people to safe abortion providers, or even providing medically accurate counseling about abortion to their clients.
Statement from NAF President & CEO Brittany Fonteno
The Global Gag Rule is a harmful policy that stifles global support for abortion access, limits public health programs, and asserts control over people’s right to make decisions about their own bodies. While it is no surprise that President Trump reinstated the policy—just like he did in 2017—this action will endanger already vulnerable people by further curtailing their access to accurate information and safe reproductive health care services.
Reproductive health care is basic health care that everyone needs and deserves access to, regardless of where they live or how much money they have. This is the Trump administration’s next attack on abortion access, and it will not be the last. For nearly a decade now, Donald Trump has shown us just how dangerous he is for abortion access, and it is clear that over the next four years, the anti-abortion movement will take every opportunity to strip away our fundamental right to reproductive freedom—both here and abroad. The U.S. should be a leader in promoting women’s health and human rights around the world instead of using foreign aid as a tool to limit people’s access to health care.

NAF remains committed to helping as many people as possible access high-quality and affordable abortion care. Anyone in any state can call the National Abortion Hotline at 1-800-772-9100 to understand their options and get the assistance they need, whether that’s help finding a provider, arranging travel to another state, or funding for their care.
President Trump has reinstated the global gag rule, a policy that bans US funding for international non-governmental organizations that offer abortion services or advocate for abortion rights. This rule, also known as the Mexico City policy, has been a controversial issue for decades, with critics arguing that it limits access to vital healthcare services for women around the world. The reinstatement of the global gag rule by the Trump administration has sparked outrage among reproductive rights advocates and health organizations. They argue that this policy puts the lives of women and girls at risk by restricting access to comprehensive healthcare services, including contraception and safe abortion.
The global gag rule is just one example of the Trump administration’s efforts to roll back reproductive rights and limit access to healthcare for women. It is crucial for advocates and allies to continue fighting against these harmful policies and ensuring that women everywhere have the right to make decisions about their own bodies and health. #ReproductiveRights #GlobalGagRule #TrumpAdministration
