  • NBA trade rumors: Pelicans interested in Jimmy Butler-Brandon Ingram swap; Marcus Smart on the move again?

A new development on the Jimmy Butler front: The New Orleans Pelicans approached the Miami Heat this week about a potential trade involving Butler and forward Brandon IngramThe Stein Line’s Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported Friday.

Ingram, 27, is on a $36 million expiring contract. He became eligible for a contract extension worth up to $208 million over four years last summer, but the Pelicans have not been willing to max him out, nor have they been able to find him a suitable trade. Initially, according to The Stein Line, other teams proposed frameworks for Butler deals that also involved Ingram. Then New Orleans decided to reach out to Miami directly about a Butler-Ingram swap.

For the Heat, who would like to move on from the Butler era, make the playoffs this season and not take on money past 2025-26, a trade built around Butler and Ingram would make a lot of sense. Ingram has been out since Dec. 7 with a high-grade ankle sprain, but, assuming he can get back on the court for the stretch run, he’d give them another talented creator. If he fits well, they’d have the option of re-signing him with Bird rights in the offseason. They could also sign-and-trade him at that point.

A Jimmy Butler-free trade deadline preview: Six questions about the other storylines ahead of Feb. 6

For the Pelicans, the motivation here is less clear. They need to shed $1.4 million to get under the luxury tax, and, given that they never pay the tax and have a 12-36 record, they’re not going to add to their payroll between now and the Feb. 6 deadline. Butler is making $48.8 million this season, so, presumably, New Orleans would be giving up more than just Ingram. Could CJ McCollum ($33.3 million this season, $30.7 million next) be moved to Miami (or elsewhere)? Does the front office envision Butler helping a healthier version of the team make a playoff run next season, or is this just a creative way to create financial flexibility?

The new CBA means that almost any trade involving Butler and Ingram would have to be complex and involve at least one other team. The Heat are close to the second apron, and, if they aggregate multiple contracts, they can’t finish the trade above it. As they are over the first apron, they cannot take back more salary than they receive.

According to The Stein Line, the Pelicans have also had recent discussions about Ingram with the Toronto Raptors and that “preliminary conversations” with the Atlanta Hawks have “not gained significant traction.”

Does Fox want out or did Sacramento decide to shop him? Yes

Let’s talk about semantics! When ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the news that De’Aaron Fox of the Sacramento Kings was on the block, he did not report that Fox had demanded (or politely requested) a trade. He did, however, report that Fox had a “target destination in mind ahead of 2026 free agency.”

So does Fox want out? Well, The Stein Line reported Thursday that the Kings recently approached Fox about trading him before the deadline, not the other way around. They reportedly told some teams that they were open to discussing Fox last week.

Rich Paul wants De’Aaron Fox rumors out now and timing shows how players have lost leverage with NBA’s new CBA

    Bill Reiter

Rich Paul wants De'Aaron Fox rumors out now and timing shows how players have lost leverage with NBA's new CBA

But they didn’t do those things in a vacuum. In the same story, The Stein Line reported that, regardless of how this season played out, Fox had “no intention of extending in Sacramento.” Is communicating this to the Kings the same as publicly demanding to be traded immediately? No, and definitely not in this case — according to The Stein Line, Fox would actually prefer to leave Sacramento this coming offseason — but it’s not all that different from a private trade request. If the team knows you don’t want to stay, you don’t have to ask for a trade.

To be clear, I’m not saying Fox has wronged the Kings or vice versa. He has the right to leave in free agency, and, if that’s the plan, then being upfront about it helps Sacramento, as it has an opportunity to get something back in return. The Kings, meanwhile, have the right to take the best offer they can get, and to do the deal when it makes the most sense for them, not him.

As a reminder: Donovan Mitchell never officially asked the Utah Jazz for a trade.

Has Bogdanovic played his last game for Atlanta?

On Monday, Bogdan Bogdanovic was on the Hawks’ active roster for their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He didn’t log a single minute, though, and officially got a DNP-CD. He was then listed as out due to personal reasons for their games against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday and the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. Bogdanovic is expected to miss Saturday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, too.

On Thursday, four separate outlets — HoopsHype, The Arizona Republic, SNY and The Stein Line — either directly reported or implied that Bogdanovic is likely to be traded before the deadline. The Phoenix Suns have reportedly talked to Atlanta about swapping Jusuf Nurkic for Bogdanovic (and presumably incentivizing the Hawks with draft capital). Miami has also “expressed interest” in him, per HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

Bogdanovic is 32 years old and is making $17.3 million this season. That would be a big-time bargain if he were playing at the level he did last season, but he has shot 37.1% from the field and 30.1% from deep in 24 games this season after missing the first few weeks with a hamstring injury. He’s also owed $16 million next season, and he has a team option worth $16 million in 2026-27.

If Bogdanovic’s down year is strictly health-related, not evidence of decline, then, whether it’s the Suns or another win-now team, this could be a great opportunity to buy low. If Bogdanovic can get healthy relatively quickly, that is.

    What’s the Pacers’ plan?

Tyrese Haliburton’s five-year extension kicked in this season, and Indiana’s newly named All-Star reserve, Pascal Siakam, is in Year 1 of a four-year deal. Both contracts started at $42.2 million, or 30% of the salary cap. As thrilled as the Pacers must be to have both stars on the roster — after a slow start, they’ve won 16 of their last 21 games — they knew when they traded for Siakam that, with that kind of money on the books, they’d have to make hard decisions about the rest of the roster.

One decision: How much can they afford to offer Myles Turner in free agency? The big man, who turns 29 in March, is on a $19.9 million expiring contract. That is an artificially low number; two years ago, Indiana used cap space to renegotiate and extend his contract, so he got a $17.1 million raise as soon as he signed it and the team has paid Turner a below-market-value salary in the two seasons since. The Pacers do not have that option now, and, if they simply add a new contract for Turner to the 10 salaries they already have on next year’s books, they will be in the luxury tax. (Turner will be looking for a starting salary of more than $30 million, per The Athletic’s Jovan Buha.)

Another decision: How much can they afford to offer Bennedict Mathurin when he’s up for an extension this summer? The 22-year-old is a gifted scorer with considerable upside, but you can’t pay everybody. Indiana has already signed wing Aaron Nesmith through the 2026-27 season, and it has signed guard Aaron Nembhard through the 2027-28 season. Ben Sheppard will be up for an extension the year after Mathurin, too.

The Pacers don’t exactly have to make those right decisions right now, but they need to at least have an idea of where they stand, as it will inform how they approach this trade deadline. The rest of the league knows the position Indiana is in, so other teams have been reportedly monitoring both Turner and Mathurin.

On Friday, The Athletic’s Fred Katz reported that the Pacers are “not trying to get worse,” so they are unlikely to trade Turner. They have also reportedly rejected other teams’ overtures about Nembhard, who has been instrumental to their turnaround. And while the franchise has not paid the luxury tax in two decades, that streak could potentially end next season, depending on how the rest of this one goes.

According to The Athletic, Indiana’s conversations about Obi Toppin (who re-signed with the team last summer on a four-year, $58 million deal) haven’t really gone anywhere. Mathurin is not mentioned in the story.

    Smart move?

Could Marcus Smart’s tenure with the Memphis Grizzlies end before he even plays his 40th game for the team? According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps, there has been “plenty of discussion” about this possibility recently.

The 30-year-old guard joined the Grizzlies in the same June 2023 deal that sent Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics. To acquire Smart, Memphis gave up Tyus Jones, the 2023 first-round pick that became Marcus Sasser and the 2024 first-round pick that became Bub Carrington. Smart has dealt with a series of injuries since then, though, and appeared in only 20 games in 2023-24.

This season, Smart has appeared in 18 games, and he has been sidelined since he suffered a finger injury (a “partial tear of the proximal extensor hood of his right index finger,” per the team) on Dec. 21. While practicing with the the Grizzlies’ G League team, the Memphis Hustle, on Jan. 9, Smart fractured his left thumb, which required surgery. On Wednesday, Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins told reporters that Smart was still “week-to-week” and limited to individual work, per Damichael Cole of the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

These hand injuries are strange, and, if Memphis doesn’t end up trading Smart, the 2022 Defensive Player of the Year could still play a significant role as it battles for playoff positioning. As ESPN pointed out, though, the Grizzlies have to think about the money they’re likely to spend this offseason when Santi Aldama will be a restricted free agent and Jaren Jackson Jr. could be eligible for a supermax extension (if he makes an All-NBA team). Given how backup point guard Scotty Pippen Jr. has emerged this season and how well rookie Jaylen Wells has fared with the starting five, it is understandable that Memphis — perhaps the league’s deepest team — might want to shed Smart’s $21.6 million 2025-26 salary.

The NBA trade rumors are heating up once again, with the New Orleans Pelicans reportedly interested in a potential swap involving Jimmy Butler and Brandon Ingram. Butler, who currently plays for the Miami Heat, has been a target for the Pelicans as they look to bolster their roster for a playoff push.

Ingram, on the other hand, has been a key player for the Pelicans since being acquired in the Anthony Davis trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. The 24-year-old forward is averaging 23.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game this season.

Meanwhile, there are also rumors swirling around Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart, who could be on the move once again. Smart has been a valuable defensive player for the Celtics, but with the team looking to make changes, he could be a potential trade piece.

It remains to be seen if these rumored trades will come to fruition, but it’s clear that teams are looking to shake things up as the NBA trade deadline approaches. Stay tuned for more updates on these and other potential deals.

  • Kyrie Irving Likens Kevin Durant to ‘a Monument in a Science Museum’ for Epic Scoring | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

PHOENIX, ARIZONA - DECEMBER 27: Kevin Durant #35 of the Phoenix Suns talks with Kyrie Irving #11 of the Dallas Mavericks during the second half at Footprint Center on December 27, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona. Kevin Durant is such a perfect model of a pure scorer that he might belong in a museum.

Just ask former teammate Kyrie Irvig.

“He’s that guy that you see almost like a monument in a science museum of just like, what does a great scorer look like?” Irving said in a Friday piece by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “Seven feet, able to handle the ball, able to shoot over anybody, but also a fierce competitor.”

It’s hard to argue with Irving’s assessment.

Durant entered the league scoring as the 2007-08 Rookie of the Year and hasn’t looked back since. He is still putting up astonishing numbers at the age of 36 and enters Friday’s game against the Golden State Warriors averaging 27.3 points a night.

That means it should only take him three or four more games to score the 94 points he needs to become just the eighth player in NBA history to score 30,000 career points. He will join legendary names such as Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain and Kobe Bryant when he does so.

Only Jordan (10) and Chamberlain (seven) have more scoring titles than Durant’s four, and MacMahon noted he, Larry Bird and Steve Nash are the only players in league history with multiple 50/40/90 shooting-split seasons.

That’s not bad company to keep.

As Irving described, Durant is a scoring machine who can find the basket a variety of ways. He remains unstoppable even at this stage of his career and has been a bright spot for a Suns team that is battling through inconsistency with a 24-22 record that has them in ninth place in the Western Conference standings.

But they will be a threat to any opponent in the playoffs as long as Durant is on the floor.

In a recent interview, Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving had high praise for his teammate Kevin Durant, likening him to “a monument in a science museum” when it comes to his epic scoring ability.

Irving, who has been playing alongside Durant this season, expressed his admiration for the way Durant dominates on the court with his scoring prowess. “Kevin is like a monument in a science museum, just towering over everything and leaving everyone in awe,” Irving said.

Durant, who is known for his scoring prowess and ability to take over games, has been putting up impressive numbers this season. His combination of size, skill, and shooting touch makes him a truly unique talent in the NBA.

Fans and analysts alike have been marveling at Durant’s performances, with many considering him a frontrunner for the MVP award this season. With Irving also playing at an elite level, the Nets are shaping up to be a serious contender in the Eastern Conference.

As the season progresses, all eyes will be on Durant and Irving as they look to lead the Nets to a deep playoff run. With their chemistry on and off the court, the duo has the potential to be one of the most dynamic tandems in the league.

Stay tuned for more updates on Durant, Irving, and the Brooklyn Nets as they continue their quest for an NBA championship.

  • DeMar DeRozan amid De’Aaron Fox trade rumors: ‘I don’t have much time left, I’m not trying to play another five years’

“It’s tough because looking at the landscape before I came here those were the guys I talked to, Fox, Domantas, and Malik,” DeRozan said. “Those are the core guys that made it easy for me to make my decision to play here. A key juggernaut in Fox, not knowing the future of that, it does make it tough. I don’t have much time left, I’m not trying to play another 5 years. “I want to try to maximize the opportunity we have now to play with a great team. You never know when dominoes fall the wrong way when it comes to an organization it makes it tough. So it’s something we just have to wait out and see in the meantime make the most out of it.”

Amidst swirling trade rumors involving Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox, San Antonio Spurs star DeMar DeRozan has spoken out about his future in the NBA.

DeRozan, who is in the final year of his contract with the Spurs, has been the subject of trade speculation as the team looks to rebuild. However, the veteran guard made it clear that he is not interested in playing another five years in the league.

“I don’t have much time left in this league, and I’m not trying to play another five years,” DeRozan said in a recent interview. “I want to make the most of my remaining years and compete at the highest level possible.”

DeRozan, a four-time All-Star, has been a consistent scorer and playmaker throughout his career, averaging over 20 points per game in each of his 12 seasons in the NBA. He has also been a leader on and off the court, earning the respect of his teammates and coaches wherever he has played.

As the trade deadline approaches, it remains to be seen if DeRozan will be moved to a contending team or if he will finish out the season with the Spurs. Regardless of where he ends up, it is clear that DeRozan is focused on making the most of the time he has left in the league.

  • Jon Jones Responds as Calls Mount for Gable Steveson to Leave NCAA Amid UFC Rumors

Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson has been on a wild ride in the past few years. After testing the waters in professional wrestling, the 24-year-old decided to make his return to NCAA wrestling. However, Steveson seems to have garnered fans’ attention recently, claiming that his participation is ‘unfair’ to other athletes because he’s already an established Olympic winner. But in these cries from the fans, UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones shared a message regarding Steveson and his future combat sports.

In 2021, Gable Steveson made waves in the pro wrestling industry after signing with the WWE as another coming of WWE legend Kurt Angle, who also won an Olympic gold medal. However, the 24-year-old didn’t seem to fit the mold and in 2024, the promotion released him after a brief stint in WWE’s developmental brand, NXT.

Following his stint there, Steveson announced that he was all in on NCAA wrestling because he still wanted to be a part of the collegiate level, and despite fans fuming over this, Jon Jones appears to be siding with him. While there have been rumors about a possible UFC move for Gable Steveson after his WWE exit, Jon Jones responded to these rumors and the fans’ dissatisfaction with Steveson’s return to wrestling with a social media post.

The 24-year-old claimed that ‘Bones’ was so impressed that he even urged him to consider making the move to MMA and even invited him to train with his team under coach Greg Jackson. Steveson claimed that he’s not sure where he’d start his mixed martial arts journey, but he does see him doing that in the future, and if he ends up in the UFC, he will become the second Olympic gold medalist to compete in the Las Vegas-based promotion.

“Not sure of the promotion yet, but Jon definitely lit a fire under me and was like, ‘Hey, I think you should go back to wrestling, I think you should try MMA. • Pete Carroll Addresses Pittsburgh Steelers’ Russell Wilson Rumors

PITTSBURGH — Is Russell Wilson leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers and heading to the Las Vegas Raiders? The answer isn’t no, but according to the Raiders new head coach, it’s too early to decide whether or not that’s going to happen.

Since the moment Carroll was hired by the Raiders, Wilson’s name has been floated as a “player to watch” for Las Vegas’s quarterback void. Aidan O’Connell is expected to be in consideration, but many see Wilson as an easy option to reunite with his former head coach and try to make a run in the AFC West.

Speaking on What The Football, Carroll was asked about a potential reunion with his Super Bowl-winning quarterback, and didn’t shut down the possibility of it happening.

“It’s so early and we’re just in the midst of trying to find the puzzle pieces, not even putting them together yet, so I can’t even say. Free agency hasn’t come yet,” Carroll said.

He did hint at the idea, though, saying the Raiders are open to anyone who can help the team win.

“I promise you, if you’re a real competitor you’re not letting options get away from you,” Carroll added.

Wilson led the Steelers to the Wild Card round of the playoffs and had moments where people talked about him being an MVP candidate. Things went downhill fast at the end of the season, losing five-straight games to finish the year, but not everything was on Wilson.

As for Pittsburgh, they are believed to favor Justin Fields as their next starter, but aren’t shutting down the possibility Wilson returns. That could change if Wilson heads west to Vegas.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll recently spoke out about the rumors circulating that star quarterback Russell Wilson may be traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a press conference, Carroll addressed the speculation and emphasized that Wilson is a key part of the Seahawks’ future plans.

Carroll stated, “Russell Wilson is our guy. He’s been an integral part of this team for years and we have no intention of parting ways with him. He is a tremendous leader on and off the field, and we are committed to building around him for the long term.”

The rumors of Wilson potentially being traded to the Steelers have been swirling in recent weeks, with some reports suggesting that the two teams have had discussions about a possible deal. However, Carroll’s comments seem to put those rumors to rest and reaffirm the Seahawks’ commitment to their star quarterback.

Wilson has been a standout performer for the Seahawks since he was drafted in 2012, earning Pro Bowl honors multiple times and leading the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2014. His dynamic playmaking ability and leadership have made him one of the top quarterbacks in the league, and it’s clear that the Seahawks value what he brings to the team.

As the offseason continues and trade rumors continue to swirl, it’s reassuring for Seahawks fans to hear Carroll’s strong support for Wilson. It seems that the quarterback will remain in Seattle for the foreseeable future, much to the relief of the team and its fans.

  • NFL News: Josh Grizzard Reportedly Promoted to Bucs OC After Liam Coen’s Jaguars Exit | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

TAMPA, FLORIDA - JANUARY 12: Detail view of a Tampa Bay Buccaneers helmet prior to an NFL football wild card playoff game between the Washington Commanders and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium on January 12, 2025 in Tampa, Florida. (Photo by Perry Knotts/Getty Images)

    Perry Knotts/Getty Images

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly found their new offensive coordinator after Liam Coen left to become the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Friday that Tampa Bay promoted pass-game coordinator Josh Grizzard to the role. Garafolo noted Tampa Bay “keeps continuity and hands the play-calling reins over to a coach who is highly regarded in the building” with this move.

Coen’s departure was certainly a roller-coaster ride for the franchise.

As Nick Shook of NFL.com detailed, Coen was initially a candidate for the Jaguars but pulled out of consideration and appeared to be heading back to Tampa Bay with a pay raise. However, he went back to visit with Jacksonville after it fired general manager Trent Baalke.

The Buccaneers attempted to get a hold of him when he was visiting the Jaguars, and Coen eventually reached out to head coach Todd Bowles.

Still, the result was Coen moving to the AFC South and leaving the Bucs with a sudden OC opening.

That vacancy is no more following the promotion of Grizzard.

The 2024 campaign was his first season as Tampa Bay’s pass-game coordinator after he spent seven years on the staff with the Miami Dolphins. He was a quality control coach and a wide receivers coach at different times during his tenure with Miami.

Grizzard found success in his first year with the Buccaneers, as quarterback Baker Mayfield set career highs in completion percentage (71.4), passing yards (4,500) and passing touchdowns (41) while leading the team to an NFC South crown.

It was the fourth straight division championship for Tampa Bay and second straight with Mayfield under center.

There is something to be said about maintaining some continuity in the system with a quarterback who is playing the best football of his career, and that is exactly what the Buccaneers did with this move.

In a surprising turn of events, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly promoted Josh Grizzard to the position of offensive coordinator following Liam Coen’s departure to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Grizzard, who previously served as the team’s quarterbacks coach, has been with the Buccaneers for several years and is known for his innovative offensive schemes.

This move comes after Coen accepted the head coaching position with the Jaguars, leaving a void in the Buccaneers’ coaching staff. Grizzard has been praised for his work with star quarterback Tom Brady and is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the team’s offense.

Fans are eager to see how Grizzard’s promotion will impact the Buccaneers’ performance on the field, especially as they look to defend their Super Bowl title. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Jets Rumors: Lions’ Tanner Engstrand Expected to Be OC After Nick Caley Rejected Job | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

CANTON, OHIO - AUGUST 03: A closeup view of the New York Jets logo on a helmet during a delay in the second half of the 2023 Pro Hall of Fame Game against the Cleveland Browns at Tom Benson Hall Of Fame Stadium on August 03, 2023 in Canton, Ohio. The Detroit Lions are reportedly losing another coach.

Connor Hughes of SNY reported Friday that the New York Jets are expected to hire Lions passing game coordinator Tanner Engstrand as their new offensive coordinator. Engstrand is certainly a familiar name for new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn after their shared time on Dan Campbell’s staff in Detroit.

Hughes noted New York attempted to hire Los Angeles Rams tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Nick Caley as its “top option” but was rejected.

The Jets apparently weren’t the only ones interested in Caley, who Hughes pointed out will “have other options.” He also reported New York will keep wide receiver coach Shawn Jefferson after blocking interview requests for him around the league.

As for Engstrand’s departure, this is another loss for the Lions staff.

Glenn became the head coach of the Jets, while offensive coordinator Ben Johnson became the head coach of the division-rival Chicago Bears.

Elsewhere, defensive line coach Terrell Williams went to the New England Patriots as DC, wide receivers coach Antwaan Randle El went to the Bears in the same position, assistant quarterbacks coach J.T. Barrett went to Chicago as the quarterbacks coach and tight ends coach Steve Heiden became the offensive line coach of the Jets.

It is quite the turnover for a franchise that has turned itself around under head coach Dan Campbell and become one of the league’s best teams.

New York is looking for a similar turnaround with Engstrand as its offensive coordinator.

The 2024 season was his fifth on Detroit’s staff and second as the passing game coordinator. The Lions finished his first season in the role second in the league in passing yards on the way to the NFC Championship Game and his second season in the role second in the league again on the way to the conference’s No. 1 seed.

Players such as Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams and Sam LaPorta thrived under his coaching, and he will look to help the Jets’ playmakers unlock similar production.

There are still a number of questions to be answered in New York, not the least of which is will Aaron Rodgers be back at quarterback, but the team at least knows who the O.C. will be after this move.

According to recent rumors, the New York Jets are expected to hire Detroit Lions’ Tanner Engstrand as their new offensive coordinator. This comes after Nick Caley reportedly rejected the job offer from the Jets.

Engstrand, who has been with the Lions for several years, is highly regarded for his offensive prowess and innovative play-calling. He is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Jets’ offense and help develop young quarterback Zach Wilson.

While the deal has not been officially confirmed yet, sources close to the situation believe that Engstrand is the frontrunner for the job. Jets fans are hopeful that his hiring will bring a new energy to the team and help turn their offense around.

  • Report: Natasha Howard Lands Fever Contract in WNBA Free Agency to Join Caitlin Clark | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

Caitlin Clark is reportedly getting another high-profile teammate.

ESPN’s Alexa Philippou reported Friday that veteran forward Natasha Howard agreed to a new deal with the Indiana Fever. This will be her second stint with Indiana, which drafted her with the No. 5 overall pick in 2014.

Howard was a secondary contributor during the first two seasons of her career on the Fever but eventually developed into an All-Star and defensive leader during future stops. She has played for the Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, New York Liberty and Dallas Wings as well.

The 33-year-old was in Dallas the last two seasons and is coming off one of the best scoring efforts of her career in 2024.

She averaged 17.6 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.3 steals a night while shooting 45.6 percent from the field as a bright spot for a Wings team that struggled on the way to a 9-31 record.

It was yet another impressive season in a career that includes three championships (2017 with Minnesota, 2018 with Seattle and 2020 with Seattle), the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year, the 2018 Most Improved Player, two All-Star selections, two All-Defensive First Team nods and a spot on the 2019 All-WNBA First Team.

This move comes after the Fever announced Wednesday they re-signed Kelsey Mitchell, further underscoring their push toward championship contention with Clark leading the way.

Indiana reached the playoffs last season for the first time since the 2016 campaign but lost in the first round to the Connecticut Sun. Considering it was Clark’s rookie season and the team went 13-27 the year before, all indications were the future is quite bright.

And now it is even brighter after re-signing Mitchell and adding a veteran leader like Howard.

Howard is also the type of experienced player who has reached the sport’s highest stage who can help a young Fever team turn the corner when facing the postseason pressure. She should form quite the one-two punch in the frontcourt with Aliyah Boston as Indiana gears up for the 2025 campaign.

Exciting news in the world of women’s basketball as it has been reported that Natasha Howard has landed a contract with the Indiana Fever in WNBA free agency. The talented forward will be joining forces with rising star Caitlin Clark, creating a dynamic duo that is sure to make waves in the league.

Howard, a two-time WNBA champion and former Defensive Player of the Year, brings a wealth of experience and skill to the Fever roster. Known for her versatility and ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, Howard will undoubtedly be a key player for Indiana this upcoming season.

With Clark, the sensational rookie guard out of Iowa, leading the charge, the Fever are poised to be a formidable force in the WNBA. Clark has been turning heads with her scoring ability and playmaking skills, and her partnership with Howard is sure to elevate the team to new heights.

Fans can expect an exciting season ahead as Howard and Clark lead the charge for the Fever. Stay tuned for more updates, scores, highlights, stats, and rumors as the WNBA season approaches. It’s going to be a thrilling ride for Indiana Fever fans!

  • Fantasy Booking Decisions That Will Make or Break WWE Royal Rumble 2025 | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA - JANUARY 6: Roman Reigns and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson face-off during RAW at Intuit Dome on January 6, 2025 in Inglewood, California. (Photo by WWE/Getty Images)

While WrestleMania tends to steal the headlines each
year, WWE’s annual Royal Rumble premium live event (PLE) is actually the
company’s second most important show and arguably its most entertaining.

With so many options in the men’s and women’s 30-person
Battle Royals, the unpredictability of the 2025 Royal Rumble has added a
genuine excitement that is missing from many of WWE’s marquee events.

Here are the fantasy booking decisions that will make
    or break the February PLE.

    Roman Reigns Steals the Show

In the men’s Royal Rumble, there are ample options for
potential winners, including John Cena, CM Punk, Seth Rollins and Drew
McIntyre, but there is one option that stands above the rest as the best for
    WWE.

Roma Reigns should win the 2025 Royal Rumble.

The Bloodline storyline has been a central focal point
of WWE for over two years, and it still hasn’t run its course. With several of
the small players in the drama falling to the wayside, it’s time to get back to
    the top stars squaring off.

If Reigns wins the 30-man Battle Royal, WWE Creative
can go in two key directions for the Road to WrestleMania 41. Either Reigns
battles Cody Rhodes again for the world title, or Triple H can throw everyone a
curveball and get Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson involved.

With so much on the line at the Royal Rumble, the WWE
Universe should fully expect The Rock to make his presence felt at the PLE, but
    we’ll get to that next…

The Rock Needs to Show Up

After Reigns wins the Royal Rumble, Rhodes should walk
down to the ring to set up what most fans believe would be a singles match
between the two foes. Instead, Johnson should interrupt the segment and enter
    the ring.

The Rock should claim that Reigns needs to go through
him to get to the Undisputed WWE Championship, with the two men coming
nose-to-nose before Rhodes breaks up the confrontation by announcing he’ll
defend the belt against both challengers in Las Vegas.

By booking Johnson for the end of the Royal Rumble, the
company would build serious momentum heading into this week’s Raw and SmackDown
episodes and drive interest in the product at the most critical time of year.

With Reigns and Rhodes on television each week to build
to the eventual Triple Threat match, The Rock could continue working his
limited schedule, only appearing occasionally to keep the program fresh.

    It’s a win-win-win situation.

Becky Lynch or Charlotte Flair Need to Win

There is genuine excitement surrounding the men’s Royal
Rumble match, but the women’s edition of the Battle Royal is wide open in terms
    of possible winners.

While the roster is as deep as ever, WWE needs to go
back to a tried-and-true performer for the 2025 winner. Whether it’s Becky
Lynch or Charlotte Flair, the company needs a top name back on top, and two of
the Four Horsewomen are the best candidates.

Triple H and WWE Creative have ample options, such as
Bayley, Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, Liv Morgan, or someone from NXT, but they are
building to a massive WrestleMania match that has the potential to main event
    Night 1.

Whether WWE goes back to a familiar story pitting Becky
Lynch against Rhea Ripley for the Women’s World Championship, or moves toward
something new with Charlotte Flair battling Tiffany Stratton for the WWE
Women’s Championship, the company needs its biggest names at the top of the
    card again.

As we gear up for WWE’s Royal Rumble 2025, fans are buzzing with excitement and anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling night of action. With the Royal Rumble match itself being the main attraction, there are several key fantasy booking decisions that could make or break the event. Here are some potential scenarios that could shape the outcome of the Royal Rumble and have a lasting impact on the WWE landscape:

    1. Surprise Entrants: One of the most exciting aspects of the Royal Rumble match is the surprise entrants who make unexpected returns or debuts. Will we see legends like The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin make a surprise appearance? Or perhaps some NXT stars looking to make a big impact on the main roster? The inclusion of these surprise entrants could add an extra layer of excitement to the match and keep fans on the edge of their seats.

    2. Title Matches: The Royal Rumble is not just about the Rumble match itself, but also about the championship matches that take place throughout the night. Will we see any title changes or shocking upsets during these matches? How will these outcomes set the stage for WrestleMania? The booking of these title matches will play a crucial role in determining the overall success of the event.

    3. Winner of the Royal Rumble: Perhaps the most important fantasy booking decision of all is determining the winner of the Royal Rumble match. Will a fan favorite like Daniel Bryan or AJ Styles emerge victorious? Or will a surprise underdog come out on top and challenge for the title at WrestleMania? 4. Storyline Developments: In addition to the Royal Rumble match itself, the event is also a prime opportunity to advance ongoing storylines and set up new feuds. Will we see any shocking betrayals or alliances formed during the event? How will these developments impact the overall WWE landscape moving forward? The booking of these storyline developments will be crucial in keeping fans invested in the product.
