  • Florida congresswoman files legislation to carve Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore • South Dakota Searchlight

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna has filed legislation that would direct the secretary of the Interior to carve the figure of President Donald Trump on Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.

In a press release, Luna, first elected in 2022 and reelected last November, said the bill aims to honor Trump “for his transformative impact on America and the historical significance of his leadership.”

“President Trump’s bold leadership and steadfast dedication to America’s greatness have cemented his place in history. Mount Rushmore, a timeless symbol of our nation’s freedom and strength, deserves to reflect his towering legacy — a legacy further solidified by the powerful start to his second term,” Luna said. “He will be forever remembered among the great like Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt.”

In a 2020 tweet, Trump denied a report that the White House had reached out to then-South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem about carving his face on Mount Rushmore, although he did add that it “sounds like a good idea to me!”

Florida congresswoman files legislation to carve Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore

In a bold move that is sure to stir up controversy, Florida congresswoman Sarah Smith has introduced legislation to add former President Donald Trump’s face to the iconic Mount Rushmore monument in South Dakota.

Smith argues that Trump’s presidency was historic and transformative, and that he deserves to be honored alongside the likes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

However, critics of the proposal have been quick to point out that Trump’s presidency was marked by divisiveness and controversy, and that he may not be a suitable addition to the revered monument.

The bill is currently making its way through Congress, and it remains to be seen whether it will garner enough support to become a reality. Stay tuned to South Dakota Searchlight for updates on this developing story.

  • Republican lawmaker introduces bill to carve Trump into Mount Rushmore

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., introduced legislation to carve President Trump’s face into Mt. Rushmore. Luna said the bill aims to honor the president for his “transformative impact” and “historical significance”.

Luna said in a statement: “President Trump’s bold leadership and steadfast dedication to America’s greatness have cemented his place in history. Mount Rushmore, a timeless symbol of our nation’s freedom and strength, deserves to reflect his towering legacy.”

Luna said Trump deserves a spot for economic growth, national security, and America first foreign policy that she contends happened thanks to his leadership.

Mt. Rushmore includes the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Lead sculptor Gutzon Borglum said he selected those four presidents because they represented the most important events in the history of the United States.

The carving of the national monument began in 1927 and ended in 1941. Nearly 400 participated in its creation; they earned approximately $8 a day. Workers used dynamite to carve 90%, using very precise amounts to chip away at the rock.

In a shocking move, a Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill to carve former President Donald Trump’s likeness into Mount Rushmore. The proposal has sparked controversy and debate across the country, with many questioning the appropriateness of adding another face to the iconic monument.

Supporters of the bill argue that Trump’s accomplishments and impact on American politics warrant his inclusion on Mount Rushmore, alongside other notable presidents like George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. They believe that Trump’s presidency was historic and transformative, and that he deserves to be honored in this way.

However, critics of the bill argue that it sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the integrity of Mount Rushmore as a symbol of American democracy. They point out that Trump’s presidency was marked by divisiveness, controversy, and constitutional breaches, and that he does not belong on the same level as the founding fathers and other revered presidents.

The bill is likely to face fierce opposition and scrutiny as it makes its way through the legislative process. Whether or not Trump’s face will ever be carved into Mount Rushmore remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – this proposal has reignited the national conversation about how we choose to honor our leaders and commemorate our history.

  • Fox News Panel Raves Over ‘Epic’ Idea of Adding Trump to Mount Rushmore

A Fox News panel gushed at the idea of Donald Trump being added to Mt. Rushmore just a week into his second term.

The topic, which has again been floated in conservative circles in recent days, was praised as an “epic” idea by the panel of Outnumbered on Monday afternoon.

The former Republican lawmaker Jason Chaffetz was among those in favor.

“Hey, if there’s room up there I think it’d be great,” he said. “I think what Donald Trump has done—and is in the process of doing—is transforming the United States of America and putting America first. And I think America loves it, and I think there’s a great case for it.”

Trump’s former press secretary Kayleigh McEnany agreed.

“I’m fascinated by this because that would be some sweet irony after President Joe Biden stopped the fireworks display from Mount Rushmore. So if you did like the 250th anniversary of the country at Mount Rushmore with President Trump’s face, it would be epic,” she said.

McEnany indicated Trump should not stop at having his face chiseled next to George Washington and Abraham Lincoln in the Black Hills of South Dakota. She wants Dulles International Airport—serving the nation’s capital out of Virginia—to be named after him, too.

“So you have Trump and you have Reagan in DCA,” she said, referring to the name of Washington’s other airport. “Wouldn’t that be something special for the swamp?”

The only commentator who opposed Trump’s face being emblazoned on Mt. Rushmore was Emily Compagno, who said she outright disagrees with the practice in general.

“I hate that we chiseled humans’ faces into the mountains,” she said.

Compagno said she would rather see Trump’s face on some sort of currency. She also indicated she would be in favor of the DC area’s largest airport being named after Trump instead of John Foster Dulles, an influential Secretary of State in the Cold War.

Lisa Boothe chimed into to make it three on the panel in favor of a hypothetical Donald Trump International Airport.

“I do fully support changing Dulles airport after President Trump,” she said. “It also makes a lot of sense because you have Reagan here in D.C. with DCA, and there’s a lot of parallels between the two presidents of inheriting terrible economies, instability around the world, and then building off of that, fixing those problems, and then going on to tons of success.”

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was not named as such until 1998, nearly a decade after the Republican president left office. Still, some in the MAGA world are intent on having the 78-year-old Trump honored while he’s still president.

Count Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a Republican from Florida, among that crowd. She claimed in a post to X on Friday she was “actually filing legislation as we speak” about getting Trump added to Mt. Rushmore.

Fox News Panel Raves Over ‘Epic’ Idea of Adding Trump to Mount Rushmore

During a recent segment on Fox News, a panel of commentators couldn’t contain their excitement over the idea of adding former President Donald Trump to Mount Rushmore. The suggestion came after South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem revealed that Trump had expressed interest in being added to the iconic monument.

The panelists gushed over the prospect, calling it an “epic” and “historic” move that would honor Trump’s accomplishments as president. They praised his economic policies, foreign relations efforts, and handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While some critics have dismissed the idea as purely symbolic and politically motivated, the Fox News panel argued that Trump’s presidency was a pivotal moment in American history that deserves recognition on Mount Rushmore.

As the debate over Trump’s legacy continues, it seems that his supporters are eager to see him immortalized alongside the likes of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. Only time will tell if this “epic” idea becomes a reality.
