Paulo Eduardo Rossetto wins Round 1 of sold-out Wrangler Long Live Cowboys PBR Sacramento Presented by Cooper Tires
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – In front of a sold-out, Friday night crowd at Sacramento’s Golden 1 Center, Paulo Eduardo Rossetto (Colorado, Brazil) was flawless, winning Round 1 of the PBR (Professional Bull Riders) Unleash The Beast event while leading the Missouri Thunder to a 172-86.75 victory over the Kansas City Outlaws.
The opening night of the three-day event in California’s capital featured the fifth installment of the Monster Energy Team Challenge, presented by Camping World, an extension of the PBR Teams league that brings head-to-head, team vs. team bull riding games to the sport’s elite individual tour.
As action got underway between the two teams, Rossetto was tasked with Blown Away. In what proved to be a perfect pairing, The 27-year-old was awarded an unrivaled 88.25 points, clinching Round 1 and 28 Unleash The Beast (UTB) points.
Rossetto rose from No. 35 to No. 29 in the world standings after his momentous first night in Sacramento.
Missouri’s second score was logged by Felipe Furlan (Sales Oliveira, Brazil) while Kansas City’s came courtesy of Miguel de Jesus (Campo Alegre de Goias, Brazil).
With their scores also counting towards the opening round of the main event, Furlan advances to Saturday ninth having earned 11 UTB points, rising from No. 34 to No. 32 in the world. Jesus earned 14 points, heading into Round 2 in sixth place. He moved up one spot from No. 39 to No. 38.

Sacramento Kings vs Oklahoma City Thunder Prediction, Odds and Picks
After an impressive run under new head coach Doug Christie, the Kings have cooled of a little with 3 losses in their last 4 games. They face a tough OKC Thunder team here, trying to avenge a 21-point loss suffered in late November. Since then a lot has happened, a new head coach has come in, plus star player De’Aaron Fox is being mentioned as a potential trade target for several teams as we get close to the trade deadline. That’s certainly not helped the team’s chemistry, which is visible by their last 3 losses in which they lost by an average of 15 points.
The Thunder are in a bit of a slump of their own having lost 2 of 3 games. For a team that’s lost back-to-back games just once this season, this is considered a poor stretch of play. Someone who definitely isn’t on a poor run of play is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The MVP candidate has been going to work lately, even more than he usually does. He’s dropped 50+ in 2 of his last 4 outings, increasing his point per game average to 35.6 points per game in January. I’m sure he would trade all those numbers for wins in the games against Dallas and Golden State though. The Thunder are firm favorites here, which is expected from a team that’s 20-4 SU at home this season.
Oddly enough this match-up has been a favorable one for Sacramento. Over the last 15 meetings they are 11-4 SU/ATS, plus in road games at Paycom Center they’ve covered in 11 of 16 visits. They’re just 1-3 SU during this current 6 game road trip, facing a team like the Thunder should bring out the best out of them. Sabonis will be a tough cover, we just saw him notch a triple-double in the loss to Philadelphia. I’ll give the Kings the benefit of the doubt here and back them to cover as road underdogs.
Kings vs Thunder Predictions: Kings +9 is available at time of publishing. Playable at that number.
The Sacramento Kings are set to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in what promises to be an exciting matchup. Both teams are looking to secure a win and improve their standing in the Western Conference. The Kings have been inconsistent this season, but they have shown flashes of potential with their young core of De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, and Buddy Hield. On the other hand, the Thunder have struggled with injuries and are currently in a rebuilding phase.
In terms of odds, the Kings are slight favorites with a -3.5 point spread. The over/under is set at 225.5 points.
As for picks, the Kings have the edge in this matchup with their scoring ability and depth. Look for Fox and Haliburton to lead the way for Sacramento, while Hield provides a spark off the bench. The Thunder will rely on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to carry the load, but it may not be enough to overcome the Kings’ firepower.
Prediction: Sacramento Kings win
Odds: Sacramento Kings -3.5
Picks: Sacramento Kings -3.5, Over 225.5 points

Brooklyn Nets vs Sacramento Kings preview: Monday night basketball
A special night for an all time great. On Saturday night, the Brooklyn Nets retired Vince Carter’s jersey as his #15 ascended to the Barclays Center rafters. It was the perfect end to a perfect week celebrating one of the franchise’s greatest players. The team itself played and lost against the Miami Heat, but they got the main thing right.
The opponent tonight is, somehow, still in the playoff chase. It’s been a long year for the Sacramento Kings, but coming into this game they are in the tenth and final spot for the postseason. They didn’t help the cause on Saturday night as they got knocked around by the New York Knicks at MSG.
Where to follow the game
YES Network on TV. WFAN on radio. Tip after 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Brooklyn Nets will commemorate the Chinese New Year — the Year of the Snake — tonight as well. The Chinese New Year game is part of the Nets Unite platform and will include unique food, fashion and culture. The festivities also include a red envelope giveaway for every fan in attendance, a Chinese tradition wishing good fortune for the new year.
Injuries
No Cam Thomas, Cam Johnson, Bojan Bogdanovic, Trendon Watford, Maxwell Lewis, and DeAnthony Melton. Ben Simmons is questionable.
All clear on the report for Sacto.
The game
Brooklyn won the first game in November, Jordi Fernandez’s homecoming. This is the last meeting between the two teams this season.
Since the last time we saw Sacramento, they underwent a big change. After a disastrous loss to the Detroit Pistons, the team fired Mike Brown the next day. Being fired is one thing, but being fired after running practice, doing media availability, and traveling on the way to Los Angeles for a game against the Lakers is what pissed everyone off. Former Kings coach Michael Malone didn’t hold back when he talked about the firing:
“So I’m not surprised that Mike Brown got fired, because I got fired by the same person. And what really pissed me off about it was the fact that [the Kings] lost last night, fifth game in a row, I believe. Tough loss, fouling a jump shooter,” said Malone, the Nuggets coach. “They had practiced this morning. He does his media, and he’s in his car going to the airport to fly to L.A. and they call him on the phone [and tell him he’s fired]. No class. No balls. That’s what I’ll say about that.”
Jesus. The reputation of Kings’ management is in the dirt, but something funny happened along the way. The team got good again! Under first year head coach and former King fan favorite Doug Christie, Sacramento has gotten their groove back. Since the firing, the Kings have gone 10-4, fourth best record in the NBA during that time span. It appears Christie is pushing all the right buttons, and according to Keon Ellis, he’s been a major breath of fresh air:
“I think it just has been easier because there are not a lot of rules, honestly. The only real staple is going out there and playing hard, playing for each other. The offense, the defense is just playing aggressive and playing our game.
“He’s preached a lot of communication. On the defensive end, if we’re blitzing someone just talk about whatever we are doing. We run a bunch of different things, but it doesn’t matter as long as we’re communicating and getting through it, that’s all that matters. And then on the offensive end, you have the best players in the game so you’re giving them the ball.
“I think that was the first message he told us is it’s going to get real simple. Late game or whatever throughout the stretch, [De’Aaron] Fox you get it, we’re running this play, Deebo [DeRozan] you get it, whoever has it you guys are pros, you guys are the players out there. I’m going to give you the ball and you are going to go out there and make it happen. So, I think he just puts it all on us and I think he just wants us to go out there and play hard and play for each other.”
There’s still a lot of season to go, and if the Kings are able to make something shake in the postseason, maybe the messy ass breakup would have been worth it.
In the meantime, the Nets will have their hands full with Domantas Sabonis. Sabonis leads the NBA in rebounding at 14 a night and grabs almost four offensive boards a night. If you don’t put a body on him and match his physicality, he’s bound to do something like this
Hope the guys have been hitting the weights extra hard. We’ll see how Nic Claxton is able to handle the former All Star on the inside. Clax tends to look more like himself when he’s set up in great position to score and fed close to the rim. He and Noah Clowney will have to work incredibly hard to keep Sabonis off the glass and limit those second and third chance opportunities. If they don’t, Sabonis is a good bet to earn his seventh triple double of the season.
If the game gets close, the Kings will hand the reins over to the midrange maestro. DeMar DeRozan has been pretty solid in his first year with the Kings, and when the game is close late, Christie can put the rock in his hands and trust him to get to his spots. For all great teams, you need at least two players who can get their own shot, especially in crunch time. Sacramento has that. Now can they do everything else needed to be a great team? We shall see.
Player to watch: De’Aaron Fox
Recently, New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart was on Candace Parker’s the Trophy Room show. Stewie was discussing the pressure of being the best player on a team and taking responsibility when things don’t go according to plan, and she said something pretty fascinating:
“Taking ownership came from coach [Geno] Auriemma, from UCONN. I just remember having a conversation with him at one point throughout my career and he was like “No matter what happens on the court, it’s your fault…
“But as you get older, you understand why things are said that way. No matter what was happening in that game, I can take it on me because I can take it…”
That’s the rule when you’re the best player. When things go right, you get the credit and acknowledgement as the star you are. When you lose, you’re the first person we turn to when things go wrong. And when people suspect you of being the person that helped get the coach fired, well… we’re gonna ask you all kinds of questions
“I wouldn’t use the word ‘guilt.’ That’s the nature of the job that we have. Obviously, him signing his extension this summer, we thought we would be together a whole lot longer.
But that’s the decision that they made. But at the end of the day, too, he’s still getting paid. A great part of being an NBA player, being an NBA coach is those things can happen, but contracts are guaranteed.”
I mean he’s right, but yeesh. But when you talk like that, you better ball. Fox has held up his end of the bargain for the most part. Since the firing, he’s averaging around 22/5/6 on 42/28/87 shooting splits. Fox has been dealing with finger injuries on his left hand since training camp and is now dealing with a sprained right thumb. He’s gonna keep toughing it out, and considering how deep in the hole the Kings put themselves in, he’s gotta give them as much as he can.
D’Angelo Russell is back after a brief injury absence, and when he’s able to draw the defense’s attention, good things happen
The partnership between he and Claxton will be something to watch closely as we go through the rest of this season. For Brooklyn tonight, they’ll do their best to try and find their way into the paint. In January, the Kings are only allowing teams to shoot 63.6 percent in the restricted area. It’s a marked improvement from earlier in the season when they allowed teams to shoot close to 70 percent in that part of the court. Russell’s ability to probe defenses and find his way to the cup will help keep the Nets in it.
From the Vault
On Saturday, D’Angelo’s “Voodoo” turned 25 years old. It was lauded immediately upon release and has grown in stature over the years. With that in mind, let’s pull up two tracks before we hit the road

#Brooklyn #Nets #Sacramento #Kings #preview #Monday #night #basketballJosh Hart ACTIVE For New York Knicks vs. Sacramento Kings
The New York Knicks will have a Hart for their return to action.
Josh Hart is in the starting lineup for Saturday’s interconference showdown with the Sacramento Kings (7:30 p.m. ET, MSG) after appearing on the team’s injury report. Hart was originally listed as probable due to knee soreness.
It has, of course, been customary to see Hart on the floor for the Knicks but there were probably some lingering concerns considering the slight change in designation: Hart briefly left last week’s game against Minnesota with an apparent upper-body injury and later appeared on the medical report for the two games due to reported neck woes.
Hart, however, is ready to take the floor as the Knicks (29-16) return to action after a few days off. New York is looking for its first three-game winning streak since getting nine a row during the holiday season. He has been a major spark plug for the Knicks this season, averaging career-bests of 14 points and 9.6 rebounds as New York places third on the current Eastern Conference ledger.
On the other side, De’Aaron Fox appears in the Kings’ starting lineup despite dealing with a sprained right thumb, which, ironically enough, was the same ailment that kept Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns out for two games last week.
Exciting news for New York Knicks fans! Josh Hart has been activated and will be suiting up for tonight’s game against the Sacramento Kings. Hart, who has been dealing with a knee injury, is finally ready to make his return to the court. The versatile guard brings a strong defensive presence and solid shooting ability to the Knicks lineup, adding depth and experience to the team. His presence will surely be a boost for the Knicks as they look to secure a win against the Kings.
Be sure to tune in to tonight’s game to see Josh Hart back in action and cheering on the Knicks as they take on the Sacramento Kings. Let’s go Knicks! #NYK #JoshHart #NBA #KnicksVsKings

Sacramento Kings forward DeMar DeRozan is ‘what a pro is all about’ — Andscape
In his first season with the Sacramento Kings, veteran forward DeMar DeRozan was driving to the airport on Dec. 27, 2024, for a work trip with his then-head coach Mike Brown trailing behind him. It was a journey that DeRozan was looking forward to as he was heading back home to Los Angeles.
Suddenly, Brown wasn’t behind DeRozan anymore. Brown took a different road after being relieved of his duties on a phone call.
“That was the first time I ever dealt with the firing of a coach in the middle of the season,” DeRozan recently told Andscape. “It’s new for a lot of the guys who played for him for multiple years. It’s much different from my standpoint of still being new having to adjust to that.
“It’s hard to process it when you’re still going through it.”
For DeRozan, there has admittedly been adjustment, newness and challenges in his first season with the Kings. Even so, he is still ecstatic about his decision to come to Sacramento and their success in January.
The Kings ended 2024 with a disappointing 14-19 record just days after firing the popular Brown. But so far in 2025, DeRozan, interim head coach Doug Christie and the Kings appear to be heading in the right direction with nine wins in their past 10 games. Tonight, the Kings face their Northern California rival Golden State Warriors at Golden 1 Center on ESPN (10 p.m. ET).
“When you make a decision, it’s part of our job,” DeRozan said about coming to Sacramento. “You don’t get to do this forever. You got to make the most out of every [situation] I am in…
“An opportunity to try to win, that is what it’s all about at the end of the day. And take whatever comes with that. Anything is possible. So, for me, it’s an opportunity to still be able to play at a high level, see what happens from there.”

During Brown’s first season as head coach in Sacramento in 2023, the Kings made the postseason for the first time in 17 years. Sacramento, however, didn’t return to the postseason in 2024 after losing in the NBA play-in tournament. The Kings made a major free agency move by acquiring DeRozan in a three-team trade that sent veteran forward Harrison Barnes to the San Antonio Spurs. DeRozan received a three-year, $74 million contract that allowed him to play in California for the first time in his 16-year NBA career.
DeRozan entered the season optimistic about the direction of the Kings. He added that Kings stars De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis have done a great job of “making it easier on me and vice versa.”
“[I like] The passion, the drive from the coaching staff — from the players to the fan base to everything — top to bottom,” DeRozan said to Andscape before the regular season began. “Guys want to win. You’ve seen where they were two years ago. The talent that was there and even last year before injuries. Anything is possible.”
Anything seemed possible for the Kings after a frustrating start to the season.
The Kings opened the season with a 9-12 record, then spiraled further in mid-December with five consecutive losses. The final loss during that stretch came after a shooting foul by Fox led to a late four-point play that vaulted the Detroit Pistons to a stunning 114-113 victory on Dec. 26.
The next day, Brown was surprisingly fired after conducting practice and post-practice media interviews. The firing came just months after Brown was given a three-year extension paying $8.5 million annually. There were also questions as to whether DeRozan was a good fit in Sacramento.
Through it all, DeRozan has stayed his usual even keel and continued to adjust in a positive direction.
“There is a little bit of everything [to adjust to],” DeRozan told Andscape. “When there is something new, there is always going to be a continuous adjustment that you got to get used to, playing with different styles of players. For the most part, most of the guys have been here for the last two or three years plus. They’re committed to offense, defense. There isn’t too much of an adjustment other than being in a new situation.”
To Christie’s credit, they have been sparked back into winning since his arrival.

The Kings players have enjoyed Christie’s players-coach mentality, simpler offensive scheme, rah-rah approach, a constantly changing defensive scheme and pride in playing in Sacramento, multiple sources told Andscape. DeRozan also had the Kings video team put a video of Christie’s defensive highlights together from his NBA days to show his teammates how good he was.
The rejuvenated Kings have recovered with an 8-1 record in January. DeRozan has also had his best offensive month thus far with the franchise, averaging 24.3 points, 3.6 assists, 3.6 rebounds and 1.3 3-pointers made per game. On the mentality of the Kings now, Christie recently said: “It’s faceless. It’s about you. It’s about your process play to play, night to night, and being about your business. And to those guys in that locker room, I say, ‘massive respect.’ ”
Said DeRozan: “Couple of weeks ago, we’re trying to figure it out and turn it around. And now we’re trending in the right direction.”
DeRozan grew up in Compton, California, where he starred at Compton High School, then played a season at USC. He lives in Los Angeles in the offseason and has enjoyed his family and other loved ones being so close to him now that he is in Sacramento.
While DeRozan says his house is safe, he has loved ones whose homes have been affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.
“Everybody is safe for the most part,” DeRozan recently said. “My heart goes out to anybody who lost anything in L.A. through the fires. The tragedy is something I still can’t wrap my head around. Just from videos and pictures that I’ve seen. I hope a speedy recovery for everyone in L.A. But it’s going to be a long road. For the most part on my side, everyone is safe.”
DeRozan, 35, is definitely the veteran leader of the Kings. He told Andscape before the season that he doesn’t want to play into his 40s. The six-time NBA All-Star has credited taking care of his body for the reason for his longevity learning from the likes of Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James.
DeRozan recently passed for Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Allen Iverson for 29th place on the NBA career scoring list. DeRozan has scored 24,379 points in 1,147 NBA games. Just 67 points ahead of DeRozan in 28th place is Golden State star Stephen Curry.
“Congratulations to DeMar in getting 29th all-time in the NBA in scoring,” Christie recently said. “That is special. If you pass Allen Iverson in anything, you’re doing something. To my man, much respect. DeMar is what a pro is all about.”
The Sacramento Kings have found themselves a true professional in forward DeMar DeRozan. Known for his hard work ethic, leadership, and dedication to the game, DeRozan is setting an example for his teammates both on and off the court. In a recent interview with Andscape, Kings head coach Luke Walton praised DeRozan for his professionalism and commitment to the team. “DeMar is what a pro is all about,” Walton said. “He comes to practice early, stays late, and always puts in the extra work to improve his game. He leads by example and is a true mentor to our young players.”
DeRozan, who was acquired by the Kings in a trade earlier this year, has quickly become a fan favorite in Sacramento. His scoring ability, defensive prowess, and leadership skills have helped the team to several key victories this season.
As the Kings continue to push for a playoff spot, DeRozan’s presence on the team will be crucial. His experience and veteran leadership will be invaluable as the team looks to make a postseason run.
Overall, DeMar DeRozan embodies what it means to be a professional athlete. His dedication to the game, his team, and his craft is truly inspiring, and the Sacramento Kings are lucky to have him on their roster.

Halftime Report
A win for the Warriors would push their record over .500, and after two quarters of play they’ve put themselves in a good position to make it happen. They have a bit of a cushion as they currently lead the Kings 65-48.
The Warriors came into the contest with some extra motivation after the defeat they were dealt the last time these two teams faced off. We’ll see if they’re able to flip the script or if it’ll just be more of the same.

The Warriors and the Kings are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2023, but not for long. The Golden State Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Sacramento Kings at 10:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Golden 1 Center. The Warriors are expected to lose this one by 7.5 points, so we’ll see if that gives them a bit of motivation.
The Warriors are headed into this one after the oddsmakers set last week’s over/under low at 224.5, but even that wound up being too high. There’s no need to mince words: the Warriors lost to the Celtics on Monday, and the Warriors lost bad. The score wound up at 125-85. The contest marked Golden State’s lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Meanwhile, one look at the score and it should come as no surprise that the Kings were far and away the favorite against the Wizards on Sunday. The Kings were the clear victor by a 123-100 margin over the Wizards. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sacramento.
It was another big night for Domantas Sabonis, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 18 rebounds. He has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 19 times he’s played. Keegan Murray, on the other hand, was considerably less helpful: he went 0-5 from beyond the arc.
Golden State’s defeat dropped their record down to 21-21. As for Sacramento, they pushed their record up to 22-20 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
The Warriors suffered a grim 129-99 defeat to the Kings when the teams last played on January 5th. That matchup was pretty much over by halftime, at which point the Warriors were down 75-51.

Preview: Denver Nuggets look to keep streaking against Sacramento Kings
It’s been good vibes lately for the Denver Nuggets. They’ve won three straight and seven of their last eight games (their one loss came with Nikola Jokic not playing). Tonight coach Michael Malone’s old nemesis comes to town: the Sacramento Kings. The Kings are even hotter than the Nuggets as winners of ten of their last eleven games. They’re led by De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis, and veteran DeMar DeRozan is turning back the page, scoring over twenty points in his last seven games. Nothing will come easy for Denver tonight.
The Essentials

When: 7:00PM
Where: The Can. Denver, CO.
How to watch/listen: Denver Stiffs does not condone piracy, unless it’s the romanticized 17th century type. My20 KTVD, Altitude+, Altitude Radio 92.5FM.

The Matchup
Position Nuggets Kings Advantage PG Jamal Murray De’Aaron Fox Even SG Russell Westbrook Malik Monk Even SF Christian Braun DeMar DeRozan Kings PF Michael Porter Jr. Keegan Murray Nuggets C Nikola Jokic Domantas Sabonis Nuggets Bench Aaron Gordon, Julian Strawther, DeAndre Jordan, Peyton Watson Keon Ellis, Trey Lyles, Alex Len, Kevin Huerter, Devin Carter Even Injury report*: Vlatko Cancar – out (knee), DaRon Holmes II – out (achilles), Trey Alexander – out (G-League), Spencer Jones – out (G-League). *The Kings injury report was not submitted at time of writing.
The Three Things
The thing to watch for: the stretchiest of bigs
Feb 26, 2022; Denver, Colorado, USA; Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis (10) attempts a shot as Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic (15) defends in the first quarter at Ball Arena. Mandatory Credit: Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports Nikola Jokic and Domantas Sabonis are currently the two leaders in the league for three point percentage (47.5% & 48.5% respectively). Michael Porter Jr. of course can light it up from three as well and while Keegan Murray isn’t what you’d call a plus three point shooter, he’s certainly not shy about shooting them. Both teams have some capable stretch bigs off the bench as well. Expect spacing to at a maximum in this game. MPJ recently said he’s focusing on taking more threes since outside shooting volume has been a problem and that’s been part of the story of Denver’s recent success. This doesn’t mean Denver should get away from what’s their bread and butter though. More threes means more spacing means more open cuts to the basket.
The thing to remember: Sacramento is on a B2B
Been a while since a team had to do the brutal west coast to Denver B2B but that’s what Sacramento draws tonight. They played late last night against the Golden State Warriors at sea level, hopped on a plane, lost an hour in the time change, and landed at a mile high above sea level in the wee hours of the morning. This is widely considered the hardest back to back to overcome in the league. In particular this should play into Denver’s favor with the bench unit. I’d like to see some solid non-Nikola minutes with a lineup of Russell Westbrook, Christian Braun, Peyton Watson, Aaron Gordon and Julian Strawther. Sure, the shooting in that group isn’t spectacular but their ability to get out and run should be able to test the conditioning and mental fortitude of the Kings to the max.
The thing to bet: Jamal Murray over 2.5 threes (+115)
Murray has hit three or more three pointers in three of his last four games against Sacramento (including knocking down four and five in his last two). He’s struggled a bit with his outside shot in the last couple games but hasn’t lacked for attempts so I’m not overly worried about it. The betting public seems to be though, which is pushing this line into that sweet sweet plus territory.
The Denver Nuggets are on a hot streak as they prepare to face off against the Sacramento Kings. With key players like Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray leading the charge, the Nuggets have been dominating the competition and climbing up the Western Conference standings. The Kings, on the other hand, have been struggling to find consistency this season and are currently sitting near the bottom of the standings. However, they have shown flashes of potential with young stars like De’Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton leading the way.
In their previous matchups this season, the Nuggets have come out on top, but the Kings are looking to turn the tide and pull off an upset. With both teams hungry for a win, this game is sure to be a thrilling showdown.
Will the Nuggets continue their winning streak and solidify their spot in the playoff race? Or will the Kings come out on top and make a statement against a top team in the West? Be sure to tune in to find out!
