Nate Santos was named First Team Preseason All-Atlantic 10 after being named to the third team after last season.

    • Santos’ 6-for-6 shooting performance from deep against Lehigh is the second-best in D-I.  It is also the second-best ever at UD, behind Shawn Haugh’s 8-for-8 in 1993-94.

Posh Alexander was named Second Team Preseason All-Atlantic 10 and to the Preseason All-Defensive Team.  Alexander is a fifth-year transfer who already has 1,000 career points and 500 career assists (1,439 and 588 respectively).  The fourth recruit from New York City in Anthony Grant‘s tenure at UD, he led the Big East in steals in each of the last four seasons (three at St. John’s and one at Butler).

Enoch Cheeks was also named A-10 Preseason All-Defensive Team.  He led the team in steals (40), was second in blocked shots (21), and was third in rebounding (4.7) in his first season at UD after transferring from Robert Morris.  The Providence, R.I. native was the 2023-24 winner of UD’s Steve McElvene Award.  Cheeks was consistently assigned the opponents’ top perimeter player on defense.  In the 25 games (out of 33) where the Flyer foe’s top player was a guard or wing, that player was held under his average 17 times. He started in all 33 games and averaged 8.1 points per game (9.5 in A-10 play).

    • The Dayton roster includes five players who have earned all-conference recognition in their past – junior forward Nate Santos (Atlantic 10), junior Enoch Cheeks (Horizon League). junior Javon Bennett (Northeast Conference), redshirt junior Malachi Smith (Atlantic 10) and fifth-year senior Posh Alexander (Big East).

Amaël L’Etang was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week on Nov. 25.  He scored 11 points (4-6 FG) in 13 minutes against New Mexico State.

    • Cheeks was named the A-10 Player of the Week on Dec. 2 after averaging 15.7 points and 7.0 rebounds against North Carolina, Iowa State and UConn in Maui.

    • Cheeks is 11th in the A-10 in rebounding (6.7), fourth in steals (2.1), and seventh in 3-pt. FG% (.425, 37-87).  Of the top 12 A-10 rebounders, Cheeks is the shortest by three inches.

    • Smith leads the A-10 in assists (5.9) and is third in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.7)

Zed Key is eighth in FG% (.592, 61-103).  He is 15th in D-I for most dunks (34).

    • As a team, Dayton leads the Atlantic 10 in 3-pt. FG% (.363, 151-416) and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.56) and FG% (.476, 500-1051).

    • This is the Flyers’ 30th season in the Atlantic 10, and UD won its 300th A-10 game on Jan. 21 at Duquesne.

    • UD ranked 20th in average attendance in NCAA Division I last season, averaging a capacity crowd of 13,407 fans a game in 2023-24.  Of schools in the top 25 in attendance, only Kansas, Purdue, Michigan State and UConn also sold out every game of the season.

    • Dayton has already announced it has sold out every game for the upcoming 2024-25 season, including both exhibition games that have already been played.  This will be the fourth consecutive year UD has sold out every home game.  That streak is now 69 games.

    • This is also the 55th anniversary season of UD Arena.  The Arena underwent a $76.2 million transformation project that was completed in time for the 2019-20 season.

    • The Flyers are wearing “DJD” on their left shoulder strap in memory of Don Donoher.  Coach Donoher died last April at the age of 92.  He was the first man to coach his alma mater in the NCAA tournament after appearing in it as a player.  A member of the NABC College Basketball Hall of Fame, he is Dayton’s all-time winningest coach (437 wins).  He was the 2017 winner of the USBWA’s Dean Smith Award.

    UP NEXT

    • The Flyers go on the road for a tough two-game road trip next week.

    • UD is at St. Bonaventure on Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET and continues on to Saint Louis on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.

    • Dayton’s next home game is Tuesday, Feb. 4 when the Flyers host Davidson.

  • RHOBH’s Bozoma Saint John Learned Her Home Burned Down on Social Media

    Jeff Spicer/Getty Images

Bozoma Saint John wasn’t home when she learned her Malibu house was burned down by the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.

“How are you holding up?” Andy Cohen asked her on the Tuesday, January 21, episode of Watch What Happens Live. She replied, “Well, that’s kind of a hard question, you know. It’s a difficult time because there are so many people who have lost everything and it makes me wonder, you know, about just how we can be resilient and how you can continue to go on when things like this happen. And I’m trying my best.”

When asked if she had time to prepare for the fires, Saint John, 48, revealed she was outside of the U.S. when her house was impacted. “I was in Zambia and saw my house on Twitter, and that’s how I found out that it was gone,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared. “It was devastating and I felt so helpless.”

She added: “There was nothing I could do. You can’t send anybody to go get anything or anything. And so, I just tried to make my way back as quickly as possible.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newcomer Bozoma Saint John was married to husband Peter Saint John for a decade before his 2013 death. “I’m widowed,” Bozoma told Dorit Kemsley during the RHOBH season 14 premiere in November 2024. The former Netflix CMO noted that she understood Dorit’s marriage situation because she and Peter had […]

Saint John owned her home for “about four years,” but noted that she worked 25 years to be able to afford it. “[I’m] in deep grief. I mean, I try not to compare grief to anybody else’s or anything like that, but the hard thing is that it was more than just a house,” she continued. “It was not just my home, but a home for my family and my friends. I had a keypad on the house, not a keyhole so that people could just put in a code and go in whenever they want. And so, we all lost a home.”

As for how her daughter, Lael, 15, is holding up, Saint John said her only child is doing “alright” and is finding “community” in friends who also lost their homes. (She shares Lael with her late husband, Peter, who died of cancer in 2013.)

Santa Ana winds have caused wildfires to spread across the L.A. region since January 7, destroying numerous homes, schools and businesses and forcing thousands to evacuate.

Saint John announced the loss of her Malibu residence via an emotional Instagram post on January 9. “This is the house I wanted. The house I prayed for. The house I worked in blood, sweat and tears for,” she wrote alongside photos of herself and her daughter in the house over the years, as well as footage of the wildfire damage. “The house that I put a keypad instead of a keyhole in the front door because I wanted all my family and friends to have a code and use the house whenever they wanted.”

Saint John said she found “peace” with the home “after battling with racist neighbors and a community that made me have to buy it in a trust within a trust so no one would know that widowed, single Black woman with a teenager was buying on the exclusively-held beach.” She added: “This was my EFF YOU I’m here house.”

  • ‘RHOBH’ Star Bozoma Saint John Lost Malibu House in Palisades Fire

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Bozoma Saint John lost her Malibu home to the Palisades Fire, the reality TV personality and former Netflix exec revealed this week.

Saint John told Andy Cohen during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live that she learned of the house’s burning on X (formerly Twitter). “I was in Zambia and saw my house on Twitter and that’s how I found out that it was gone,” she said. “It was devastating, and I felt so helpless. There was nothing I could do. You can’t send anybody to go get anything, so I just tried to make my way back as quickly as possible.”

The RHOBH star said the loss has forced further reflection. “It’s a difficult time because there are so many people who have lost everything, and it makes me wonder about just how we can be resilient and how you can continue to go on when things like this happen,” she said. “I’m trying my best.”

Saint John also owns a home in Los Angeles’ Hancock Park neighborhood, but noted that her Malibu home was one that she frequently shared with many family members and friends. “I had a keypad on the house, not a keyhole, so that people could just put in a code and go in whenever they want,” she said. “[I am] in deep grief.”

The former business exec also offered an update on her 15-year-old daughter’s coping with the loss. “She’s doing all right,” she said. “She’s trying. She had a few friends who lost homes as well, so there’s some community in that too.”

Saint John joined RHOBH last May after a storied career in marketing, which touched the C-suite offices of Netflix, Endeavor, Pepsi, Beats, Apple and Uber. She told The Hollywood Reporter in December, though, that much of the reality TV drama isn’t entirely new to her. “If people saw inside of boardrooms, they’d be shocked by the way people behave — the things they say, how sharp they can be to each other, how divisive and political they can be,” she said. “I’m not shocked by the drama, but I am entertained by it. The challenge is that I’m trying to figure out what exactly is going on, because I’m not a person who is just going to listen to one side of the story and go with it. I’m paying attention.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Bozoma Saint John is among the many residents who lost their homes in the devastating Palisades Fire that swept through Malibu. The fierce blaze, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions, quickly engulfed Saint John’s luxurious estate, leaving nothing but ashes in its wake.

In a heartfelt statement, Saint John expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support from friends, family, and fans during this difficult time. She also urged everyone to stay safe and vigilant in the face of the ongoing fire threat in the area.

Despite the loss of her beloved home, Saint John remains resilient and determined to rebuild and move forward. Our thoughts are with her and all those affected by the Palisades Fire.

  • RHOBH’s Bozoma Saint John Found Out She Lost Her Malibu Home in the Wildfires via Social Media

Bozoma “Boz” Saint John is sharing more details about losing her home in the L.A. fires.

On the Jan. 21 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Saint John, 47, opened up to host Andy Cohen about how she found out her Malibu house had burned down. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills newcomer said she is still processing the loss.

“It’s a difficult time because there are so many people who have lost everything, and it makes me wonder about just how we can be resilient and how you can continue to go on when things like this happen,” she explained. “I’m trying my best.”

When she found out her house was in danger, Saint John said she was across the world in Africa, so she wasn’t able to prepare for the potential of total destruction.

“I was in Zambia and saw my house on Twitter and that’s how I found out that it was gone,” she shared. “It was devastating, and I felt so helpless. There was there was nothing I could do. You can’t send anybody to go get anything, so I just tried to make my way back as quickly as possible.”

Saint John, who also owns a home in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, bought the beachside property four years ago, but noted that she “worked 25 years to get it.”

“[I am] in deep grief,” she said. “I mean, I try not to compare grief to anybody else’s or anything like that, but the hard thing is that it was more than just a house. It was not just my home, but a home for my family and my friends. I had a keypad on the house, not a keyhole, so that people could just put in a code and go in whenever they want.”

“So we all lost a home,” she added.

When Cohen asked how Saint John’s 15-year-old daughter Lael was coping with the impact of the fires, which ravaged the Altadena and Pacific Palisades areas of L.A., she said she has mixed emotions.

“She’s doing alright,” the former Netflix executive said. “She’s trying. She had a few friends who lost homes as well, so there’s some community in that too.”

Saint John confirmed that the natural disaster destroyed her home in an Instagram post on Jan. 9, just two days after the fires began. The post included photos of the house as she explained why it was “an unimaginable loss” for her and her daughter.

“This is the house I wanted. The house I prayed for. The house I worked in blood, sweat, and tears for,” she wrote in the caption. “The house that I put a keypad instead of a keyhole in the front door because I wanted all my family and friends to have a code and use the house whenever they wanted.”

“This is the house where I found peace after battling with racist neighbors and a community that made me have to buy it in a trust within a trust so no one would know that a widowed, single Black woman with a teenager was buying on the exclusively-held beach,” she continued. “This was my EFF YOU I’m here house. The house that I built a movie room dedicated to my sister so she could see her films in her own sanctuary. This is the house where I finally felt like I could choose to spend time … when I wanted to and how I wanted to.”
