Vikings’ Sam Darnold puts on a show at Pro Bowl Games
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold put on a show at the Pro Bowl Games Thursday night in Orlando, Fla., at one point hitting six targets in a row during the “Passing the Test” event. Darnold’s 39 points were second most of participants.
Darnold struggled hitting the five-point target the first go-around after nailing the six targets in a row, and he ultimately wasn’t able to surpass the 44 points put up by Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff. Goff, however, got extra time as his teammate, Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs, answered trivia questions to give him a longer run. And Goff is ultimately Darnold’s teammate with the NFC, which won the event as Goff’s score was the best among competitors.
Darnold scored better than all AFC quarterbacks, who were led by Pittsburgh Steelers QB Russell Wilson’s 31 points.
In a stunning display of skill and talent, Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback Sam Darnold shined at the Pro Bowl Games this weekend. Darnold wowed fans and teammates alike with his accuracy, arm strength, and decision-making on the field.Throughout the game, Darnold showcased his ability to thread the needle with pinpoint passes, connecting with receivers in tight coverage and leading his team to several scoring drives. His command of the offense was on full display as he orchestrated the offense with poise and confidence.
Darnold’s performance at the Pro Bowl Games has solidified his status as one of the top quarterbacks in the league and has left fans eagerly anticipating what he will bring to the table in the upcoming NFL season. With his impressive showing at the Pro Bowl Games, Darnold has proven that he is a force to be reckoned with and a key player to watch in the coming season.

Wrexham sign Reading striker Sam Smith in club record transfer
Wrexham have broken their transfer record to sign Reading striker Sam Smith.
The 26-year-old has signed a contract until the summer of 2028 after the two League One clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.
Phil Parkinson has been keen to add a striker for the last two transfer windows as the club owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney chase an unprecedented third consecutive promotion.
Smith arrives at the SToK Cae Ras with 11 goals in 25 league appearances to his name this season for Reading.
Wrexham’s joint top scorers with six goals apiece are central defender Max Cleworth and midfielder Elliot Lee, one ahead of Jack Marriott who has only recently returned from a broken leg.
“Sam’s a player we’ve been pursuing for a while,” says Parkinson. “He’s a striker who’s done really well over the last few seasons and he’s at a great age.
“He’s a fantastic addition to the squad.”
Wrexham’s previous transfer record fee stands at the £590,000 fee paid for West Bromwich Albion striker Mo Faal last summer.
Smith is expected to be the first of two further additions before the window closes on Monday at 11pm. Wrexham are understood to be keen on another forward.
Smith came through the Reading academy but left to join Cambridge United in 2021. He returned to the Select Car Leasing Stadium two years later.
“I’m excited to be a part of the journey now and I want to try and help the club achieve its ambitions,” he said.
The Welsh club had previously targeted Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith, making a big play for the 32-year-old last summer. But the Championship club were reluctant to let Smith leave in the last two windows.

Country singer Sam Hunt was arrested after speeding on a Tennessee highway and violating the terms of his past DUI.
According to TMZ, the “Cop Car” musician was pulled over on Jan. 20 in Hendersonville — about 22 miles north of Nashville — on charges of speeding and violating an interlock device, best known as a car breathalyzer.
He was taken to jail but released the same day on $1,500 bond.
Hunt’s rep told the outlet that the charges against the hitmaker were cleared, though he still received a speeding ticket.
His reps weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
The “Drinkin’ Too Much” singer, 40, was previously arrested in Nashville for driving under the influence with an open container in 2019.
Per a police report obtained by Page Six at the time, Hunt was allegedly driving down the wrong side of the road, swerving in and out of lanes and crossing the center divider when the cops pulled him over.
The responding officers also claimed that the “23” singer’s eyes were bloodshot and he smelled of alcohol.
Hunt agreed to a breathalyzer test and blew a .173, which is double the legal limit.
According to the Tennessean, the Georgia-born musician appeared in court in 2021 and pleaded guilty to the charges.
He was sentenced to more than 11 months in prison but it was later reduced to 48 hours at the DUI Education Center.
Hunt’s driver’s license was also suspended for one year.
He got his license reinstated by installing an interlock device to measure his breath alcohol content, which starts the vehicle’s ignition.
Hunt is married to Hannah Lee Fowler, whom he wed in April 2017. They share kids Lucy Louise, 2, and Lowry Lee, 1.
In the past, the couple’s relationship has been rocky, with Fowler filing for divorce in 2022 before withdrawing the request months later.
Country music star Sam Hunt was arrested for speeding and violating his court-ordered interlock device five years after a DUI arrest. The “Body Like a Back Road” singer was pulled over by police for speeding and was found to have tampered with his interlock device, which is designed to prevent individuals from driving under the influence.Hunt was taken into custody and is facing charges for violating the terms of his probation. This incident comes as a shock to fans, as Hunt has been open about his past struggles with alcohol and has spoken about the importance of sobriety.
It serves as a reminder that even those in the public eye are not immune to the consequences of their actions. Hopefully, this incident will serve as a wake-up call for Hunt to prioritize his sobriety and make better choices moving forward.

Sam Hunt Avoids Charges After Reported Arrest for Alleged Speeding
Sam Hunt will avoid charges after he was reportedly arrested for alleged speeding outside of Nashville.
The country singer, 40, was arrested and taken to jail on Jan. 20 for allegedly speeding and violating an interlock device, which prevents drivers from starting their vehicles unless they pass a breathalyzer test, TMZ reported. He was released the same day on $1,500 bond, according to the outlet. It remains unclear just how Hunt violated the device.
A rep for Hunt tells PEOPLE that the singer’s lawyer cleared the paperwork in court this week, and the star will not face charges.
A spokesperson for the Henderson Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The incident comes more than five years after Hunt was arrested in Nashville on charges of driving under the influence and possessing an open container in November 2019. The “Body Like a Back Road” singer was taken into custody after police responded to a call of a vehicle driving the wrong way down the road, and his blood alcohol content level at the time was .173.
Hunt pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges related to the arrest in 2021, and he was ultimately sentenced to 48 hours at the DUI Education Center, an alternative facility and required to complete an alcohol safety course. The star also lost his license for a year, and his car was to have an interlock installed until he got his license back.
“It happened,” Hunt said of the arrest to HITS Daily Double in 2020. “People in my camp were talking about suppressing it, but why would I be afraid to talk about it? If it happens, it’s true. I was raised and taught to respect [alcohol]. Moderation is important. I’ve never wanted to glorify it. It’s a cheap trick in country music, and I’ve always wanted to avoid that. I don’t like using [drinking] as a party song; for me, that wouldn’t be honest. I’ve never been the guy who shotguns a beer. I know people who partake that way, and I wouldn’t want to shake my finger or look down on them.”
He continued, “It’s not that I don’t drink at all, but I put myself in a position by being out, seeing friends at a show, leaving my phone in an Uber. We’d Uber’d all night, then went back to a friend’s house, had some pizza. I fell asleep on the couch, woke up groggy. I should’ve been more conscious, but I wasn’t. So I take responsibility.”
In November, Hunt and his wife Hannah, who married in 2017, announced that they’re expecting their third child. The pair are parents to daughter Lucy Louise, 2½, and son Lowry Lee, 14 months.
“It’s about to get real,” he said on Audacy’s Katie & Company podcast of baby No. 3. “I’m elated, can’t wait!”
Hunt also said he hoped to take a break from touring “in the next couple years” in order to spend more time with his family.
Country singer Sam Hunt has avoided charges after being reported for alleged speeding in Nashville earlier this week. The “Body Like a Back Road” singer was pulled over by police for allegedly driving over the speed limit, but no charges were filed against him.Hunt, who has had his fair share of legal troubles in the past, including a DUI arrest in 2019, seemed to have luck on his side this time around. Fans of the country star were relieved to hear that he would not be facing any further legal repercussions for the incident.
While Hunt has yet to comment on the situation, it seems like he will be able to continue focusing on his music career without any distractions. Hopefully, this close call will serve as a reminder for the singer to drive safely and responsibly in the future.

Updated3:13 PM PT — A rep for Hunt tells TMZ … Sam’s lawyer cleared the paperwork in court this week and there will be no charges. We’re told a speeding ticket was issued and will be paid.
Country music star Sam Hunt was locked up in Henderson County, Tennessee last week … and, cops are claiming he was going way too fast for their liking … TMZ has learned.
According to police records obtained by TMZ, the singer-songwriter was arrested on charges of speeding and violating an interlock device back on January 20. He was released the same day on $1,500 bond.
Hunt was arrested for DUI back in 2019, which may be the reason his vehicle was outfitted with the interlock device — a car breathalyzer that prevents people from drunk driving — in the first place.
Hunt’s a massive country artist … amassing almost 1 billion Spotify streams for his song “Body Like A Back Road,” which came out in 2020.
Sam’s been nominated for five Grammys over the years … though he’s yet to take home the golden trophy.
Hunt married his wife Hannah Lee Fowler in 2017. She filed for divorce in 2022, but retracted the petition not long after. The couple is still married, and they share two kids.
Country singer Sam Hunt was arrested on Thursday for allegedly speeding and violating his court-ordered interlock device. The 35-year-old “Body Like a Back Road” singer was pulled over in Nashville, Tennessee after police clocked him going 70 mph in a 55 mph zone.Hunt was previously arrested for a DUI in 2019 and was ordered to have an interlock device installed in his vehicle. The device requires the driver to blow into it to test their blood alcohol level before the car will start.
This latest arrest is a setback for Hunt, who has been working on new music and was set to go on tour this summer. Fans are disappointed by the news and are hoping that the singer will learn from his mistakes and make better choices in the future.
Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

A US start-up whose backers include tech billionaires Sam Altman and Peter Thiel has raised $425mn to keep it on track to achieve its target of producing electricity from nuclear fusion in 2028.
Helion has the most ambitious timeline among start-ups racing to develop nuclear fusion, a long sought-after technology that combines hydrogen atoms to form helium atoms and release a significant amount of energy.
Venture capital firm Lightspeed and SoftBank’s second Vision Fund are the investors joining OpenAI boss Altman, Thiel’s Mithril Capital and steel company Nucor in backing Helion. The start-up has now raised more than $1bn and has a valuation of $5.4bn, including the latest fundraising round.
Nuclear fusion is carbon-free and creates no long-lived radioactive waste, but scientists have only been able to sustain a reaction for short periods of time. Earlier this month, Chinese scientists set a new record of 1,066 seconds in a reactor in Hefei, according to state media.
Helion has a contract to start supplying Microsoft with electricity produced from its fusion system in 2028, and the new funds would put it “on course” to achieve the goal, said chief executive David Kirtley. The company also has an agreement to build a 500MW power plant for Nucor.
Kirtley said the money would be spent on manufacturing pulse capacitors, an important component of its Polaris reactor in the US.
He said: “The capacitor is where about a third of the cost of the whole system goes, and about 85 per cent of Polaris’ capacitors were built overseas. We bought them and waited several years to get them in-house.”
Kirtley added: “We are now the first US manufacturer of large-scale pulse capacitors in decades, and we are going to expand that. So rather than waiting three years, we could get them in a year or less.”
He said Polaris, the company’s seventh-generation reactor, was “in operation” but declined to share details about its results.
“We have a technology that can be built, built quickly and iterated upon, especially relative to other fusion,” he said, adding that Helion’s design was “smaller, cheaper, easier to build and with less concrete”.
The remaining challenges for the start-up lie on the regulatory side, where Helion needs state permits to deploy power plants, and on squeezing more efficiency from its engineering, he said.
Kirtley added that “it would not change anything” if the development of AI, a vital driver for investment into energy companies, turns out to be less power intensive than estimated.
“There is a huge need [for baseload power] even more than we thought before. So if that extra need is a little bit less, that is OK too,” he said.
Exciting News: US Nuclear Fusion Start-up Raises $425mn with Support from Sam Altman and Peter ThielIn a groundbreaking development for the energy sector, a US-based nuclear fusion start-up has secured a whopping $425 million in funding, with prominent investors Sam Altman and Peter Thiel backing the initiative. This significant investment is a testament to the potential of nuclear fusion as a clean and sustainable energy source for the future.
Nuclear fusion, often dubbed as the “holy grail” of energy production, holds the promise of unlimited, carbon-free energy generation. By replicating the process that powers the sun, nuclear fusion has the potential to revolutionize the way we produce electricity and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
With the support of seasoned investors like Sam Altman and Peter Thiel, this nuclear fusion start-up is poised to accelerate its research and development efforts, bringing us one step closer to harnessing the power of the stars here on Earth. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting journey towards a cleaner and greener future. #NuclearFusion #CleanEnergy #Innovation #SustainableFuture
