SpaceX launched its latest batch of Starlink satellites from Vandenberg Space Force Base Saturday afternoon.

The mission was the 111th orbital launch for SpaceX from its pad at Space Launch Complex 4 East (SLC-4E) and the 200th orbital launch in total from that site. Liftoff happened at 3:02 p.m. PST (6:02 p.m. EST, 2302 UTC).

SpaceX used Falcon 9 first stage booster, tail number B1075, on the mission dubbed Starlink 11-4. This was the 17th flight for B1075, which previously launched the Transporter-11 rideshare mission, SDA-0A for the U.S. Space Force’s Space Development Agency, SARah-2 and 13 Starlink missions.

A little more than eight minutes after liftoff, the booster landed on the SpaceX droneship, ‘Of Course I Still Love You,’ completing the 119th landing for OCISLY and the 403rd booster landing to date.

On Saturday, November 13th, SpaceX successfully launched its Starlink mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base’s pad 4E, marking the 200th orbital flight from this particular launch site. This milestone launch further solidifies Vandenberg’s role as a key player in the space industry and demonstrates the continued success of SpaceX’s ambitious Starlink project.

The Starlink mission aims to provide high-speed internet access to underserved and remote areas around the world, ultimately connecting more people to the digital world. With each successful launch, SpaceX gets closer to achieving its goal of global internet coverage.

The 200th orbital flight from pad 4E is a significant achievement for Vandenberg Space Force Base and highlights the continued growth and success of the space industry. Congratulations to SpaceX and all those involved in this historic launch!

  • ‘SNL’ season 50 schedule: Is ‘Saturday Night Live’ new tonight?

Season 50 of “Saturday Night Live” has been full of memorable moments with hosts including Dave Chappelle, Ariana Grande, and Charli XCX. But who will be the next star to assume hosting duties?

Timothée Chalamet’s double duty performance during the Saturday, Jan. 25, episode marked SNL’s final episode before a short break. There will be no new episode of “SNL” on Saturday, Feb. 1, or Saturday, Feb. 8, per NBC New York.

The outlet reported that “SNL” will return with a new episode on Saturday, Feb. 15, one day before the three-hour “Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary Special” is set to air.

The sketch comedy series has not yet announced who will be hosting the Feb. 15 show. But in the nostalgic spirit of the Sunday, Feb. 16, anniversary special, it seems likely that the next host will be an “SNL” alum or a fan-favorite host who has appeared on the show multiple times.

Leading up to the anniversary special, the official “SNL” Instagram page has been releasing clips from past seasons. A documentary celebrating the show’s musical guests, “Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music”, also premiered on NBC on Monday, Jan. 27.

The doc, which was directed by Questlove and Oz Rodriguez, features interviews with some of SNL’s most iconic musical guests, including Jack White, Paul Simon, Elvis Costello, Miley Cyrus, Kacey Musgraves, Debby Harry, and Mick Jagger.

During an interview with Deadline published on Monday, Jan. 27, Questlove said he spent a year and a half watching old “SNL” episodes and taking notes to make the documentary. Elswhere in the interview, he gushed about “SNL” creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels.

“His love for the show is deep, and the stories that he has are deeper,” Questlove said. “30 years into my career … it’s almost very easy to be cynical and kind of old hat and be grumpy about it. [Lorne’s] not that at all, he’s very much enthusiastic about it. Knows what he has, knows what he created, shares stories with you. You got to love a person that is in it and of it.”

“Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music” is available to stream on Peacock.

    – November 20, 2021: Host Jonathan Majors with musical guest Taylor Swift
    – December 4, 2021: Host Billie Eilish with musical guest Finneas

As for tonight, December 11, 2021, ‘Saturday Night Live’ will be taking a break and airing a rerun instead of a new episode. But don’t worry, new episodes will be back on December 4th, so mark your calendars and get ready for more laughs and memorable moments with the cast of ‘SNL.’

  • Men’s Basketball Returns Home for Wolverines Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men’s basketball returns to Jersey Mikes Arena for the first time since January 13 as the Scarlet Knights will host Michigan at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be broadcast nationally on FOX with Kevin Kugler and the 5th selection in the 1992 NBA Draft, LaPhonso Ellis, on the call.

Rutgers returns to Jersey Mike’s Arena after four straight contests away from the venue. That stretch included three true road games (at Nebraska, at Penn State, at Northwestern) and a home game at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The Scarlet Knights enter the game at 11-10 overall and 4-6 in Big Ten play following a 79-72 victory at Northwestern behind a virtuoso performance from freshman Ace Bailey. The Scarlet Knights stand within a crowded pack in the league standings as one of eight teams between 4 and 6 wins.

RU has won three of the past five games. The team is looking for its first stretch of four wins in six games since opening the season with a 5-1 mark.

Rutgers shot 57.1 percent from the field against the Wildcats, the best shooting performance in a Big Ten game since 2023. The mark from three-point range was also 57.1 percent, which was the best in a Big Ten game since 2022. Ace Bailey keyed the offense, as he posted 37 points on 13-of-20 shooting, 5-of-8 from 3-point, 6-of-6 from the free throw line, six rebounds and three blocks.

Bailey became the first Division I freshman to log multiple 35-point games on the road since Trae Young in 2017-18. His 37-6-3 stat line has been reached just three times this season (twice by him) and just nine times by a freshman since 2007 and only previously by players ultimately selected No. 1 or No. 2 in the NBA Draft (Kevin Durant, Michael Beasley, Ben Simmons, Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Edwards). It was the most points by a visiting player at Welsh-Ryan Arena

Bailey’s January stretch in Big Ten play has been red hot, starting with a 39 point outburst against Indiana. Bailey has posted 194 points in eight January Big Ten games, averaging 24.3 points per game in that stretch. He also averages 9.2 rebounds per game in that eight-game stretch. In his last six games, Bailey has made 26-of-29 free throws (89.6%). In his last four games, Bailey has made 15-of-25 three-pointers (60%).

Bailey has the two highest scoring games in Big Ten play this season (39 at Indiana, 37 at Northwestern). He’s made 13 field goals in a league game three times, while the rest of the conference has only done it three times. It was his third game this season of 30+ points  and 10th game of 20+ points. Bailey’s averaging 22.1 points per game in league play, best in the league. He also moved up to 10th nationally overall in points per game.

Bailey and Harper each have two games this season with 36+ points. Only one other freshmen this season has scored 36+ points in a game this season (Cooper Flagg, 42 points vs. Notre Dame).

They are the only pair of two freshmen from the same team to score 36 or more points in a game twice in a season since 2004. The only players to have 3 or more games of 36+ points since 2004 are Michael Beasley (2007-08, four times, Kansas State), Kevin Durant (2006-07, four times, Texas), Rodney Stuckey (2005-06, three times, Eastern Washington) and Trae Young (2017-18, five times, Oklahoma).

RU, who has never averaged more than 69 points per game under head coach Steve Pikiell is averaging 76.6 points per game this season. Rutgers has averaged over 76.5 points per game just 14 times in the school’s 111-year history (and not since 1992-92). The last time RU averaged over even 70 points per game was 2013-14 (71.1 ppg). RU has averaged over 70 points per game for a full season just that one time since the start of the 2001-02 season.

Freshmen Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper are approaching historic ranks for their scoring output among Rutgers’ freshmen, each among the top scoring seasons by a true freshman Scarlet Knight.

Bailey (394 points) surpassed Geo Baker last game and is just one point behind Hollis Copeland for entering the top five of all RU true freshmen scorers. Dylan Harper (354 points) stands just one point behind Ricky Shields and four points behind Baker.

Rutgers True Freshmen Season Scoring Leaders: Total Points

    1. Mike Rosario (08-09): 517
    2. Phil Sellers (72-73): 506
    3. Corey Sanders (15-16): 430
    4. Quincy Douby (03-04): 412
    5. Hollis Copeland (74-75): 395
    6. Ace Bailey (24-25): 394
    7. Geo Baker (17-18): 358
    8. Ricky Shields (01-02): 355
    9. Dylan Harper (24-25): 354

Under first-year head coach Dusty May, Michigan enters the matchup at 15-5 overall and 7-2 in the conference. UM is just 5-5 away from home however (3-2 in road games, 2-3 at neutral sites). The Wolverines have lost two of their last three games (overtime at Minnesota, home win over Northwestern, 27-point loss at No. 11 Purdue). Prior to that, was a five-game winning streak and a 14-3 start to the season that saw them ranked as high as No. 14 in the country.

Vlad Goldin leads the team in scoring at 15.7 points per game, one of five Wolverines in double-figures (Tre Donaldson, Danny Wolf, Roddy Gayle Jr. and Nimari Burnett are all between 10.7 and 12.9 points per game). Wolf leads the team with 9.8 rebounds, while Donaldson has a team-high 85 assists.

The team is keyed by a pair of 7-footers inside. Both Goldin (33 blocks) and Wolf (29 blocks) are in the top-10 in the league in rejections. Goldin shoots 63.5% from the field, in the top-10 nationally, while Wolf’s 7.55 defensive rebounds per game are also in the top-10 nationally.

As a team, Michigan shoots 49.9 percent from the field, averages 17.9 assists and 83.2 points per game. All three rank in the top-25 in the country.

Michigan leads the all-time series 16-4. However, RU has won three straight games and four of the past six contests in the series since 2022 after the Wolverines won the first 14 games. The current three-game winning streak has come at three separate venues (2023 Big Ten Tournament at the United Center in Chicago, Crisler Center in February 2024, Jersey Mike’s Arena in February 2024). The Scarlet Knights won by a 30-point margin in the last meeting, the largest margin of victory in the all-time series. Prior wins included a second half comeback for a 69-59 win at the Crisler Center, and a defensive effort in the Big Ten Tournament, where RU limited UM to 19 percent shooting in a 62-50 win. Rutgers has held Michigan under 60 points in each of the past three games.

    • Fourth straight win over Michigan
    • Five wins in the past seven games against Michigan
    • Four wins in the past six games

The game against Michigan is the first of a three-home games in four span. RU remains at home to host No. 18/20 Illinois on Wednesday Feb. 5. After a trip to Maryland, the Scarlet Knights are back home on Feb. 12 to host Iowa.

The men’s basketball team is gearing up for their highly anticipated home game this Saturday against the Wolverines. After a successful road trip, they are excited to showcase their skills in front of their loyal fans once again.

The team has been working hard in practice and is ready to take on their opponents on their home court. With a winning record so far this season, they are confident in their abilities and are determined to come out on top.

Fans can expect an intense and exciting game as the team looks to continue their winning streak. The players are counting on the support of their fans to help them secure another victory.

Don’t miss out on the action this Saturday as the men’s basketball team returns home to face off against the Wolverines. Get your tickets now and show your support for the team as they aim for another triumph on their home court. Let’s go team! #GoTeam #HomeGame #WinningStreak

    SERIES HISTORY VS. AUBURN

This will be the 148th meeting between Ole Miss and Auburn in men’s basketball, with the two first meeting in 1928 when the Rebels won 43-42. While the Tigers own the all-time series lead 83-64, Ole Miss holds the advantage when playing in Oxford, 43-26. The Rebels are searching for their first victory over Auburn since they swept them in two games during the 2020-21 season, as the Tigers have taken the last six matchups.

    LAST MEETING: February 3, 2024 (L, 77-91, Oxford, Miss.)

    • Ole Miss led No. 16 Auburn as the half 44-35, outshooting them 51.5% to 38.2% over the first 20 minutes. The Tigers stormed back in the second half by shooting 73.3 percent from the floor (22-30), scoring 56 points in the final period to win by 14.

    • Allen Flanigan (Ole Miss): 20 points, five rebounds, one assist, one steal.

    • Jaylin Williams (Auburn): 16 points, five rebounds, two assists.

    SCOUTING THE TIGERS

The top-ranked team in the nation, Auburn brings an overall record of 19-1 and SEC record of 7-0 to Oxford this Saturday. Their lone win came at the hands of No. 9 Duke during the SEC/ACC Challenge, but they picked up massive wins during the non-conference stretch over No. 4 Houston, No. 5 Iowa State, No. 12 North Carolina, Memphis, and No. 16 Purdue. Their seven victories over conference foes have come against Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, No. 15 Mississippi State, No. 23 Georgia, No. 6 Tennessee, and LSU. Auburn not only sits at the top of the AP and Coaches Top 25 polls, but the latest NET Rankings as well, a position they’ve held since December 10.

A preseason SEC Player of the Year candidate and preseason all-American candidate, Johni Broome has led Auburn all season and currently averages 18.2 points per game (second in the SEC) and a conference-best 11.2 rebounds per game. The fifth-year forward also ranks among the nation’s best in blocks per game at 2.8, best in the SEC and fifth in the NCAA, and double-doubles with 12, best in the SEC and fifth in the NCAA as well.

Five players average double digits in scoring, paced by Broome’s 18.2, Chad Baker-Mazara at 12.7, Tahaad Pettiford at 11.7, Miles Kelly with 10.4, and Denver Jones with 10.0.

Auburn leads the nation in blocks per game with an average of 7.0 per game, and ranks fourth in assist-turnover ratio at 1.82, and fourth in scoring margin at +18.4. The Tigers rank second in the SEC, behind Ole Miss, and sixth in the nation with an average of just 9.4 turnovers committed per game.

Currently in his 30th season as an NCAA head coach, Bruce Pearl has guided Auburn for 11 seasons. His 681 wins are the 12th-most among active coaches, with his win percentage of 72.0% ranking 15th among actives. Prior to earning the position at Auburn, Pearl was the head coach at Tennessee from 2005-2011, at Milwaukee from 2001-2005, and Southern Indiana from 1992-2001. He is an eight-time conference coach of the year, earning the honor in the SEC three times. He’s won three regular season SEC titles, two SEC Tournament titles, and has guided his team to the NCAA Tournament as a Division I head coach 13 times.

    LUNARDI SAYS “DANCE”

Updated each Tuesday and Friday, the latest bracketology from ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has Ole Miss as a six seed in the Midwest Region. They are projected by Lunardi to face the winner of 11-seed Ohio State or North Carolina in Wichita, Kan., paired with three-seeded Kansas and 14th-seeded Northern Colorado. The highest seed for the Ole Miss program came in the 2001 tournament, when they were set as a three seed and reached the Sweet 16. Lunardi’s latest projections has 13 teams from the SEC earning a ticket to the 2025 NCAA Tournament, a number that would be the most for a single conference all time.

NFL showcase time for six Rebels

Six former Ole Miss football players have been partaking in the Reese’s Senior Bowl activities this week, and tomorrow they will play in the Senior Bowl.

Jaxson Dart, Walter Nolen, Trey Amos, Princely Umanmielen, Caden Davis and Jared Ivey have all been turning heads at practice this week, helping to boost their stock for the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Senior Bowl is set for a 1:30 p.m. CT kickoff on Saturday from Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Alabama, and will be broadcast by NFL Network.

    MEET NOTES

    • This marks the first competition for the Rebels in two weeks, since coming away with six event titles and numerous highly-ranked performances at the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 17-18.

    • The Rebel men came in at No. 13 in the first USTFCCCA National Rating Index for the 2025 indoor season.

    • Alongside Ole Miss in Fayetteville this weekend will be: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa State, Kentucky, LSU, Oklahoma (women only), Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas and Utah (women only).

    • Ranked men’s teams alongside the 13th-ranked Rebels include: No. 6 Iowa State, No. 7 Texas, No. 18 Arkansas, No. 21 Florida, No. 22 Oklahoma State and No. 25 Tennessee.

    • Ranked women’s teams include: No. 4 Arkansas, No. 8 Oregon, No. 9 Oklahoma, No. 11 Georgia, No. 19 Texas, No. 22 Kentucky and No. 24 Tennessee.

    • Ole Miss is set to receive several key debuts at Arkansas this weekend. All-American senior Cal Baptist transfer Greta Karinauskaite is set to make her Rebel debut in the 3K, with additional mid-year transfers on the men’s side such as All-American Pratt Community College junior transfer Joseph Michel (60-meter dash) and Florida State senior transfer Kidus Misgina (3K).

    • All-American senior Toby Gillen (3K) is scheduled to run for the first time since his season-opening 5K in Boston on Dec. 7, while senior regional qualifier Drew O’Connor (pole vault) is set to make his 2025 debut.

    • Freshman Jordan Urrutia is slated to run in his first collegiate 200 and 400 at Arkansas this weekend. Urrutia owns among the fastest proper 300-meter times in Ole Miss history at 33.71, and he finished his senior season at Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama as Track & Field News’ 26th-rated 200-meter boys recruit at a wind-aided 20.85.

    • Helping push the 13th-ranked Rebels are three performances currently within the NCAA top-five from junior and Bowerman watch list member Tarik Robinson-O’Hagan in the shot put (1st, 20.83m/68-04.25) and weight throw (3rd, 23.99m/78-08.50), as well as fellow junior Arvesta Troupe in the high jump (4th, 2.20m/7-02.50).

    • Robinson-O’Hagan is the current world leader in the shot put at that season-best set at the Vanderbilt Invitational two weeks ago, which is inching closer to his overall career-best 21.05m/69-00.75 that won him the first of two NCAA titles as a sophomore in 2024. Earlier, Robinson-O’Hagan set the best throws in available records since at least 2008 that early into the season both on Dec. 6 (20.30m/66-07.25) and Jan. 11 (20.51m/67-03.50).

    • Robinson-O’Hagan’s NCAA No. 3 mark in the weight throw not only won him the crown at Vanderbilt, but it also registered as a one-foot PR that broke his own Ole Miss record and moved him into 16th in collegiate history.

    • Robinson-O’Hagan ranks third in men’s collegiate history indoors in combined weight throw and shot put distance at 45.04m, making him one of only three to ever break 78 feet in the weight (23.99m/78-08.50) and 69 feet in the shot (21.05m/69-0.75) behind North Dakota State’s Payton Otterdahl (45.92m) and Ohio State’s Dan Taylor (45.34m) — the latter of whom was also coached by Ole Miss throws coach John Smith.

    • The Rebel men’s weight throwers looked to be a powerful group on paper entering the 2025 season, and have already proven that right with four currently ranked within the national top-40. Junior Bryson Smith is already the second-best in school history behind Robinson-O’Hagan, currently ranking 20th nationally at his career-best 21.81m/71-06.75 from Vanderbilt. Smith and Robinson-O’Hagan are the lone 70-footers in Ole Miss history

    • Also ranked within the top-40 in the men’s weight throw are junior Mason Hickel (32nd, 21.02m/68-11.75) and senior Costen Campion (40th, 20.51m/67-03.50).

    • Junior Arvesta Troupe’s fourth-ranked high jump mark, meanwhile, came from Kentucky’s Rod McCravy Invitational, where he cleared that overall career-best 2.20m/7-02.50. That height is the best by a Rebel men’s jumper indoors since 2020, and it’s tied for third all-time in Ole Miss history indoors. This season, Troupe’s performance currently ranks tied for 14th worldwide and tied for fourth in the United States.

    • Other Rebel men with current NCAA top-50 performances are: Toby Gillen in the 5K (18th, 13:30.34), Max Armstrong in the 800-meter (22nd, 1:49.29), Iangelo Atkinstall-Daley in the triple jump (32nd, 15.49m/50-10), Marcus Dropik in the 800-meter (38th, 1:49.88) and John Kendricks in the pole vault (44th, 5.22m/17-01.50).

    • Sophomore Akaoma Odeluga leads the way for the Rebel women, her top performance being her SEC-leading and collegiate No. 2 shot put best of 18.37m/60-03.25 from the Rod McCravy Invitational. That mark currently sits her at No. 4 worldwide and No. 2 in the United States this indoor season.

    • Odeluga already ranks third in Ole Miss history indoors at that career-best heave, and it made her one of three 60-footers indoors in Rebel women’s history alongside Olympian Raven Saunders (19.56m/64-02.25) and All-American Jalani Davis (18.61m/61-00.75).

    • Her performance also moved her to No. 20 all-time in collegiate history, making Ole Miss the lone school with three entrants in the top-20 alongside Saunders (No. 2) and Davis (No. 12).

    • Odeluga has improved in the weight throw in each of her three outings so far this indoor season, with her current best of 21.47m/70-05.25 ranking her 11th in the NCAA and second in the SEC. Odeluga has already improved 11 feet in the weight throw from her freshman PR of 18.25m/59-10.50.

    • Sophomore Mensi Stiff, a Second-Team All-American last season, joins Odeluga in the national shot put rankings at No. 27 on her season-best toss of 16.59m/54-05.25 from the Vanderbilt Invitational.

    • Fellow sophomore Skylar Soli owns a top-40 mark in the weight throw of her own, currently ranking 34th nationally and third in the SEC at her season-best 20.10m/65-11.50.

    • Other Rebel women currently in the NCAA top-50 are: Samara McConnell in the pole vault (34th, 4.12m/130-06.25) and Dieusi Armand in the triple jump (50th, 12.57m/41-3).

Trolio, Gochenouer set to compete in Peach State

The men’s golf duo of Collins Trolio and Davis Gochenouer travel to the Peach State this weekend to compete in the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate Feb. 1-2. Georgia Southern will host the ninth playing of the event with the GSU University Golf Course being the site.

TOURNAMENT LAYOUT: The 54-hole event will consist of 36 holes on Saturday followed by the final round of 18 holes on Sunday. A shotgun start will ensue both days beginning at 7:15 a.m. CT.

SNAPSHOT OF THE FALL: Davis Gochenouer competed as an individual in the team’s first victory of the season at the Hamptons Intercollegiate (Oct. 7-8). He carded a low round of 74 in the event and had 12 birdies across his three rounds at Maidstone Club. Collins Trolio competed as an individual in three of the four tournaments this fall. The sophomore set a new career-best finish at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational with a T17 finish. Trolio was the star of day one in Biloxi for the Rebels, posting a round one score of (-1) 71, placing him in a tie for fourth after 18 holes. He carded four birdies during his round and was one of 13 players in the field to post red figures after day one.

ABOUT THE COURSE: The Georgia Southern University Course at University Park opened October 2013. The 167-acre lot is located six miles south of Georgia Southern’s main campus. The track plays 6,900 yards from the championship tees and includes an 8,000 square foot clubhouse. The course consists of two different types of grass with the tees and fairways being lined with Tifway 419 and the greens containing TifEagle.

Ole Miss’ women’s basketball team, fresh off a win over Georgia, heads to Vanderbilt Sunday. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.

The Rebels are 14-6 overall and 5-3 in the SEC. Vanderbilt is 18-4 overall and 5-3 in the SEC.

  • DFS College Basketball: Saturday Preview and Picks

This article is part of our DFS College Basketball series.

Prizes remain on the rise Saturday at DraftKings with $5,000 for first place and $15,000 overall on the main slate’s biggest tournament. 10 games are featured tipping off between 12 and 2:00 p.m. EST.

Only three players in five-figures, led by elite forwards Johni Broome ($10,600) and Ryan Kalkbrenner ($10,400) who are almost always worth paying up for.  Auburn-Ole Miss (149.5) and Missouri-Mississippi State (149.5) project the highest implied totals, yet it’s Iowa State (80) with the highest single-team number (80) in what’s predicted as a blowout of Kansas State.

Rotations are tightening as we begin February, and it’s making value plays far harder to come by. And that suggests a more balanced lineup will work on Saturday.

    Top Players

Coleman Hawkins, G/F, Kansas State ($9,500)

I loathe this salary point as I’d simply just shell out more for Broome. The matchup is terrible with Iowa State ranking sixth defensively, per KenPom, but Hawkins is essentially all Kansas State has. Over his last five games, he carries a 25.1 percent usage rate averaging 12.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.4 steals while taking 11.3 shots. Hawkins is foul-prone and doesn’t hit his free throws well, so there will be missed opportunities. But the volume and diverse stat potential gives him a ceiling north of 40 fantasy points out of necessity.

    Zuby Ejiofor, F, St. John’s ($8,000)

If we’re building for balance, Ejiofor could be a nice overlooked option. He erupted for 55.25 DKP on Dec. 7 against Kansas State, though has only produced two games coming close to 40 DKP, so the ceiling isn’t really there. But the floor absolutely is having averaged 15.2 points and 8.8 rebounds over the last 12 outings, including a 19-point, 10-rebound performance against a Providence side that doesn’t have enough talented bigs to contend with him.

Hunter Sallis, G, Wake Forest ($7,900)

Sallis has been as high as $9,600 this season, so we’ve immediately got a nice discount to target. And that lower salary suggests he doesn’t need much more than 30 fantasy points for a fair return. Sallis faced Pitt three times last year and averaged 35.0 DKP. It’s an anticipated close matchup, and he won’t leave the floor if that happens. Prior to their blowout loss to Louisville, Sallis averaged 37.9 minutes and a 27.8 percent usage rate across nine appearances. That should provide an elite floor at minimum.

    Middle Tier

    Chaz Lanier, G, Tennessee ($6,900)

Slipping just below the 7k mark, Lanier feels like an obvious play. You aren’t often going to get the minutes and volume shots at this value, even if he can’t throw it in the ocean of late having shot 31.3 percent from his last seven games. Tennessee only scored 43 points in an earlier meeting with Florida, and Lanier was worth 23.75 DKP despite going 3-for-16. If that’s his floor, we’ll take it as that’s a 3.4x return. The upside quickly comes with a better offensive gameplan and a few extra shots falling in the rematch.

Jaemyn Brakefield, F, Ole Miss ($5,900)

As inconsistent as Brakefield has been throughout the year as the games have tightened, he appears to be stabilizing as an offensive focal point for the Rebels averaging 15.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.0 steals with a 27.6 percent usage rate over the last six. Prior to that, he’d posted no more than four points in three of four. Brakefield is coming off a 32.75 DKP effort, and the salary only increased by $100. If Ole Miss are to be competitive against Auburn, he has to be a factor.

Efton Reid, F, Wake Forest ($5,700)

Staking Reid and Sallis may not make sense for a team with an implied total of 70 points, yet I like this matchup for Reid. Fouls are always a concern, though Pitt is a guard-dominant lineup that shouldn’t challenge him on the block unless he’s cheating over on slashers. Reid surprisingly just claimed his first double-double of the season, but has averaged 30.5 minutes across his last six. Never an offensive focal point that limits hits floor, but Pitt gives up offensive rebounds at a 30.6 percent clip so block opportunities should be available.

Arizona’s Tobe Awaka ($5,100) is averaging 12 rebounds during his last four appearances. He’s an obvious option, though the scoring and minutes are sporadic.

    Bargain Options

    Ty Berry, G, Northwestern ($4,800)

Berry was removed from the starting lineup five games ago and has since thrived by averaging 31.6 minutes as a reserve while posting 13.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 1.2 assists and earning at least 22.75 DKP in four of those outings. Wisconsin checks in at 155th in tempo, and that’s not a terrific setting for Berry. But that’s up from 304th a year ago, so they aren’t a matchup to immediately avoid. 15.0 fantasy points is the bare minimum we need, and Berry could offer that from scoring alone.

Riley Kugel, G, Mississippi State ($4,600)

The Bulldogs’ higher end options should draw plenty of eyes Saturday given their high implied total, so perhaps we can get bigger production from a bargain in Kugel. Since a one-game absence, he’s averaged 28.0 minutes from the last four while providing 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 2.0 steals along with an 18.25 DKP floor. This is only the fourth road game this season for Missouri, and they’ve allowed 83 or more points in two of those. A seemingly nice spot for Kugel to again see extended court time and provide across-the-board.

Shawn Phillips, F, Arizona State ($4,400)

The Sun Devils are one spot where injuries could open us up for some bargains, as both BJ Freeman and Jayden Quaintance aren’t certain to be available. Phillips becomes an option only if that manifests as he drew his first start of the season last time out and responded with 13 points, nine rebounds and two blocks while doubling his minutes. Joson Sanon ($4,200) fits the bill as well as he was elite in non-conference play before dealing with an ankle injury and not being fully unleashed since returning. Unfortunately, it’s something you’ll have to track pre-game. But if either are plugged into a utility spot, there are ample pivots with the curious early start out West. And these two teams rank 27th and 32nd in tempo to offer a nice pace boost.

It’s another exciting Saturday of college basketball action, and we’ve got a full slate of games to dive into. With so many matchups to choose from, it can be tough to narrow down your DFS picks. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with our Saturday preview and picks.

One game to keep an eye on is the showdown between two top-ranked teams, as Duke takes on North Carolina. This rivalry game is always intense and could provide plenty of fantasy points. Players like Duke’s Paolo Banchero and North Carolina’s Caleb Love are sure to be popular picks in DFS contests.

Another game worth watching is the matchup between Kentucky and Tennessee. Both teams are coming off impressive wins and will be looking to continue their momentum. Look for players like Kentucky’s Oscar Tshiebwe and Tennessee’s Kennedy Chandler to have big games and potentially lead your DFS lineup to victory.

In terms of value picks, keep an eye on teams like Iowa State and UCLA. Both squads have favorable matchups and could provide solid production at a lower cost. Players like Iowa State’s Izaiah Brockington and UCLA’s Johnny Juzang could be sneaky plays that pay off big in DFS contests.

As always, be sure to check for any last-minute lineup changes or injury updates before finalizing your DFS picks. Good luck and happy gaming!

Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders (-3, 152.5) at UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros

    5:30 p.m. ET

We start down in the Southland Conference with a rematch between Texas A&M Corpus Christi and UT Rio Grande Valley. TAMU CC won the first game by five at home back on Jan. 11. The Islanders led by as many as 17 early in the second half, but let the Vaqueros back in the game.

Hopefully this one starts the same and they don’t do that this time. TAMU CC also gets a bit of help here that Hasan Abdul Hakim, UTRGV’s leading scorer and rebounder was dismissed from the team a couple weeks ago after violating team policy. Hakim had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 blocks in the first meeting.

His absence is particularly noticeable against a team like the Islanders because they have a 46.8% shot share on Close Twos, which ranks in the top 15 nationally. UTRGV, meanwhile, has a shot share on Close Twos of just 35.3% and Hakim was a 66% finisher on those types of shot attempts.

In the first meeting, due in part to Hakim’s rim protection, TAMU CC was only 12-of-24 on Close Twos. Furthermore, UTRGV, a 29.9% 3-point shooting team for the season, was 10-of-28 from beyond the arc. I’d expect regression in both categories in the rematch, which should bode well for the Islanders.

Pick: Texas A&M Corpus Christi -3

Texas Tech Red Raiders at Houston Cougars (-10, 127)

    6 p.m. ET

This is a pretty simple handicap for me, as I’m going to trust Grant McCasland in a rock fight. He had plenty of those at North Texas and knows how to navigate a super slow tempo and a defensive battle. Obviously Kelvin Sampson does too, but he’s not getting a 10-point head start in a game with a total of 127.

I have a ton of concerns about Houston offensively. Let’s start with their anemic 25.4% shot share on Close Twos. They settle for a lot of tough mid-range jumpers and have been able to knock down a lot of 3s. Texas Tech defends both of those areas well and also gets to the rim at a higher rate themselves.

In a physical game likely to feature a lot of whistles, the Red Raiders are clearly the better free throw shooting team, which I find to be a positive here as well. Texas Tech is actually a top-40 FT% team against Division I opponents this season. Houston is outside the top 125. It hasn’t been a huge problem yet because of how suffocating their defense is, but it’s another reason why I’m skeptical of them come tournament time.

Houston is also a really good bully, which skews their metrics. Per Haslametrics’ “Paper Tiger Factor”, which is a measure of how teams perform relative to expectation vs. superior or inferior competition, Houston has the ninth-highest negative value, meaning they beat up on teams they should, but better teams give them a run. After all, they are just 1-2 in Quadrant 1-A games per Torvik and 3-3 in Quadrant 1 games.

    Pick: Texas Tech +10

Stanford Cardinal at SMU Mustangs (-6, 149)

    6 p.m. ET

ACC action between Stanford and SMU is also part of my card for tonight. It’s still weird as hell to call this an ACC game with Stanford involved. And SMU. And realignment is still throwing me off.

But, there are a lot of things in play here. I’ve talked about this before and I’ve picked on SMU a little bit with this angle, but I’m looking to fade them against the ACC’s top-tier teams. They’ve played well against comparable or inferior competition. Their only league losses are Duke, North Carolina, and Louisville and those are top-50 teams. One is a legitimate National Championship contender.

I would not consider Stanford a top-50 team, though Kyle Smith’s club is playing well. The road win over North Carolina was super impressive, but I do want to throw some cold water on their recent wins. We’ve seen the long travel be a major factor already in the ACC and Big Ten and the Cardinal beat Miami, Florida State, and Syracuse at home before heading from Palo Alto to Dallas. Not exactly a murderer’s row.

Stanford ranks 343rd in Haslametrics’ Away From Home rating. All three ACC losses are on the road with long travel and have been by 14, 15, and 13 points. SMU is a team that packs the paint really well and keeps teams from getting high-percentage shot attempts. That means we’re going to see a lot of jumpers in an unfamiliar setting for Stanford. The Mustangs are a top-25 3P% team on offense and a top-20 2P% team on defense.

The stats and the home/road splits point me in the direction of SMU here.

    Pick: SMU -6
