Savannah Guthrie’s ‘frosty’ moment with Today co-host leads to ‘guilty’ confession
Savannah Guthrie opened Today on Thursday alongside Craig Melvin from the comfort of Studio 1A, but it wasn’t long before she was squirming in her seat.
The hosts were at the helm of the NBC show as they read the headlines before turning to a colleague who was in a far less cozy environment.
Savannah and Craig winced as they introduced Dylan Dreyer who was braving the freezing cold weather on the plaza in New York.
She was wrapped up against the wintery front which was sweeping across the midwest and east coast of America.
Dylan confirmed: “It’s worse than it looks,” before detailing the nasty weather report.
Savannah couldn’t help but admit she felt “guilt” over Dylan being outside and urged her to come in for a cup of hot chocolate.
Dylan is no stranger to putting herself in extreme weather conditions in her role as a meteorologist.
She previously said: “I’m 100 percent committed to my job and I love it,” and she adores traveling around the globe for exciting, and sometimes dangerous, assignments.
But one thing she isn’t a fan of is leaving her family, including her husband, Brian Fichera, and their three boys, Rusty, Ollie and Calvin.
She loves being a mom despite the fact before they had children, she and Brian weren’t sure they wanted to become parents.
“We didn’t think we wanted kids at all,” she told HELLO! in an exclusive interview. “We were living in New York City, traveling whenever we wanted to, doing whatever we wanted, and then suddenly it sort of came to us both.
We were like ‘let’s have kids’. Both of us obviously love it.”
As for if she would try for a girl with her husband, Dylan quipped that with her track record, it was likely she would welcome another boy instead. “Don’t think Brian and I haven’t had that conversation,” Dylan told TODAY.com. “But it’s like, no, we are so done. I know my luck, and it would be a fourth boy!”
Not to mention where she would put the new addition to the family.
“I’ve got all three kids in one room,” Dylan quipped. “Four just seems crazy to me.”
The number three also holds a special place in both Dylan and Brian’s hearts as she explained to HELLO!: “When we decided to have children, I used to always want three. I grew up with two brothers, my husband is one of three. Three just feels right for us now.”
Savannah Guthrie’s ‘frosty’ moment with Today co-host leads to ‘guilty’ confessionDuring a recent episode of the Today show, co-host Savannah Guthrie had a tense exchange with her fellow co-host, Hoda Kotb, that left viewers feeling a bit uneasy. The atmosphere between the two seemed frosty, with Guthrie appearing visibly frustrated with Kotb.
However, what seemed like a simple disagreement quickly turned into a moment of truth, as Guthrie finally broke her silence and confessed that she was feeling guilty about something that had been weighing on her mind for quite some time.
As Guthrie opened up about her feelings, the tension between the two co-hosts melted away, and a sense of understanding and empathy filled the studio. Kotb, being the supportive friend that she is, listened attentively and offered words of comfort to Guthrie.
The ‘frosty’ moment between Guthrie and Kotb may have been uncomfortable to watch, but it ultimately led to a moment of vulnerability and honesty that strengthened their bond as co-hosts and friends.
In the end, Guthrie’s ‘guilty’ confession served as a reminder that it’s okay to acknowledge our feelings and share them with others, even if it means facing some awkward moments along the way.

Al Roker yelled at his Today costars during a segment of the show when they decided to sing their hearts out in an impromptu musical performance.
During a recent Pop Start segment on Today, Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie began singing “Islands in the Stream” by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Though they successfully were able to harmonize while belting the 1983 hit, Al, 70, was less than impressed.
Al took his glasses off and rubbed the bridge of his nose as he sat sandwiched in between Savannah, 53, and Jenna, 43, on the couch. They wrapped their arms around him as they continued to sing despite his very loud pleas for them to stop.
“Please, no, make it stop! Make it stop!” the meteorologist yelled as his colleagues continued to sing. Carson Daly continued talking in the background, discussing the days biggest headlines in the entertainment world.
“Oh God, please no,” Carson, 51, could then be heard saying over Savannah and Jenna’s singing. The Voice host put a pillow over his face while Jenna and Savannah sang. Craig Melvin also sat alongside them smiling during the awkward segment.
On Today’s official Instagram page, the clip was posted with the caption, “Uncle Al is tired.” The comments section was full of love for Al, who has been at the heart of the talk show for decades.
“Al is my favorite. He just makes you want to give him the biggest hug. He exudes warmth,” one person wrote.
Another person wrote, “Al is the absolute best.”
Al Roker Yells ‘Make It Stop’ After Cohosts Sing on Today
However, some people agreed with Al and weren’t too impressed by Savannah and Jenna’s singing.
“Please just stop their singing, I love them and this undermines their abilities as hosts & correspondents,” one person said.
“I can’t! Was Hoda holding this show together? Bring her back, please!!” one person wrote. “I miss Sheinelle, and hope things are going well for her and her family. The Savannah and Jenna show is more than I can handle.”
The comment was in reference to Sheinelle Jones’ ongoing absence from Today. Sheinelle, 46, addressed her TV hiatus in a January 15 Instagram post.
“I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter,” the NBC anchor wrote on the social media platform. “It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not on the the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you,” she continued. “Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”
She has not yet made her return to the show and has not announced when she is expected to be back. Fans have been rallying around Sheinelle amid her time away from the program.
“You are beloved by us all! So many prayers for complete healing. Your family is our family,” someone commented on Sheinelle’s Instagram post, as another person wrote, “I appreciate you sharing this with us so much because you have most definitely been missed. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family as things progress.”
Today on the ‘Today’ show, things took a hilarious turn when Al Roker couldn’t handle the singing talents of his co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager. As the two women belted out a duet, Al Roker couldn’t help but yell “Make it stop!” in jest. The moment was captured on camera and quickly went viral on social media, with fans of the show praising Al Roker for his candid reaction. It’s clear that even the most talented singers can’t please everyone, but at least Al Roker’s honesty brought some much-needed laughter to viewers’ screens.
Despite Al Roker’s plea to make the singing stop, it’s safe to say that Savannah Guthrie and Jenna Bush Hager won’t be quitting their day jobs any time soon. But hey, at least they provided some entertainment for the audience!

- The Savannah Bananas have upgraded their home stadium, Historic Grayson Stadium, with new turf, lighting, and a video board.
- The improvements were funded in part by $3 million from the city of Savannah’s Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VII.
- The Bananas will play about 30 games in Savannah this season, including the first-ever tour championship between all four Banana Ball teams.
Savannah Bananas catcher Bill LeRoy crouched on one knee behind the bullpen plate on a cold, dreary Savannah afternoon. When the ball hit his glove, he quickly dropped it into his open hand, bounced it off the turf and then attempted to kick it back up with his foot. LeRoy will begin his eighth season on Feb. 1, working from behind the plate. But before Banana Ball had taken the world by storm, LeRoy found himself working to make much needed improvements to the locker rooms at Historic Grayson Stadium.
“I actually ripped out some of the floor to the locker rooms and painted a lot of the locker rooms to make it look a little bit nicer,” he recalled of his early days when the team was just getting started “So, truly, just firsthand got to experience the growth of this place. It’s just a blessing to be a part of.”
The Savannah Bananas went all in with the Banana Ball World Tour in 2023 and last year expanded the tour to play in front of sold-out crowds at six major league ball parks. In January, players from both the Savannah Bananas and Party Animals returned to Historic Grayson Stadium for their spring practice as they prepare for a “record breaking” 2025 season.
While the players warmed up, Coach Tyler Gillum asked to have the lights turned on. A quick phone call later and the newly installed LED lighting system flashed, illuminating the players below as they tossed balls back and forth, occasionally bouncing one off the new artificial turf field.
Building brick by brick
Before practice Coach Tyler Gillum gave a speech to the players about how Banana Ball was being built ‘brick by brick by brick’. “I’ve been here since 2018, and Jesse and Emily were building it.” Said Gillum “And here’s the next level of putting another brick on the Banana kingdom here. The new turf is unbelievable. We’re gonna be able to play more games. We’re not going to get rained out as much. And it’s going to help with trick plays, too. The guys are fired up about the turf.”

Aside from the improved lighting and turf, a new videoboard loomed in the background, replacing the old one that was struck by lightning years ago. The improvements were part of an updated lease agreement between the Bananas and the city of Savannah that included $3 million from Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VII proceeds earmarked for the historic facility, which will mark 100 years in 2026. It is a significant investment, considering Savannah is one of the smallest stadiums the teams will play during the 2025 Banana Ball World Tour.
Major League field and lights
As Banana Ball continues to grow in popularity, team owner Jesse Cole is looking for new ways to play before more fans―without playing more games. This season includes playing at 18 Major League Baseball parks and three football stadiums that will hold between 69,000 fans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, home of the Tennessee Titans, to 81,000 fans at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.
“I think it speaks a lot to how much we care and how much pride we have about being from Savannah,” said Bananas pitcher Kyle Luigs, “because this isn’t far off any of the surfaces that we’re going to play anywhere this year.”
With about 30 games scheduled for play in Savannah this season, including the first-ever tour championship between all four Banana Ball teams―Savannah Bananas, Party Animals, Firefighters and Texas Tailgaters―there will be plenty of opportunities for players to show off their skills on the new turf without Mother Nature interfering and flooding the field.
“The turf is awesome,” added Party Animals pitcher Bret Helton “It’s very cool knowing we can show up to work without one extra thing. You know, getting practice delayed or practice or a game canceled. It’s very cool being like, all right, we’re going to show up here. We’re going to push the envelope.”

Savannah Guthrie reveals Hoda Kotb’s disgusting mess after leaving ‘Today’ Savannah Guthrie has joked that her Today show co-host, Hoda Kotb, left behind a “disgusting” mess when she stepped away from the NBC broadcast last week.
The 53-year-old TV personality from Sandringham, Australia, appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with her new co-host, 45-year-old Craig Melvin.
During the show, she talked about a video she made while cleaning the workspace left by Kotb, who left the show last week after 17 years.
Guthrie, who has co-hosted the Today show for more than 12 years, remembered the mess left in the former host’s work area after she left the New York City office.
The journalist shared, “It’s a new era, it’s the Craig era, and we go and we sit on the set and there are these trays. It might have a mint or whatever it is; we realized that all of the trays, they were all Hoda’s stuff and it was, like, one contact and expired bean dip and belly button lint and all this stuff.”
Guthrie can also be heard saying in the video, “Oh, hey girl – guess you didn’t want any of this s***! Don’t mind me … love you.”
Moving forward, she also showed a clear plastic tray that was filled with random items, which she threw all into a nearby trash can, saying, “Look at the tray—it had rust and barnacles on it—I mean, it was disgusting!”
It is pertinent to mention that Kotb’s last day on the Today show was last Friday, January 10, 2025.
In a recent Instagram post, Savannah Guthrie gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the aftermath of Hoda Kotb’s departure from the ‘Today’ show. The photo shows a messy desk with papers scattered everywhere, coffee cups strewn about, and even a half-eaten bagel left behind.Guthrie captioned the post, “This is what happens when @hodakotb leaves the studio in a hurry! Can’t believe the mess she left behind! #sloppystudio #cleanuponaislefour”
Fans were quick to comment on the post, with many jokingly calling out Kotb for her messy habits. One user wrote, “Hoda, you’ve got some explaining to do! ” While another added, “Looks like Hoda had a wild morning! “
It’s clear that Guthrie and Kotb have a playful and fun relationship, and fans love getting a glimpse into their off-screen antics. Hopefully, Kotb will clean up her act before her next appearance on the show!

Savannah Guthrie Explains Why She Was ‘Shocked And Not Shocked’ By Hoda Kotb’s Exit From Today
Well, that’s it. After Hoda Kotb spent her final morning on Today last Friday, the beloved host will no longer show up on the 2025 TV schedule as a main co-anchor for the first time since she started in 2018. It has to feel especially odd for her longtime co-host Savannah Guthrie, but per the anchor, she wasn’t necessarily shocked Kotb made her decision.
As Guthrie welcomes a fresh partner in news with Craig Melvin as Hoda Kotb’s replacement, she recently reflected on the moment Hoda told her she was retiring. In her words to Parade:
I was shocked and not shocked. Hoda and I have talked for years about our dreams and part two of [our lives], and what it’s like to transition and be bold. I knew it was in her heart. She is as popular as ever. She’s as good as it gets. And she’s saying, No, I think I’ll go into the great unknown. And I find that so amazing. What I said to her right then and there, though, is that I’m going to set aside a moment for how I feel because to lose you is crushing.
Along with the anchors’ long professional relationship, it’s clear the pair are also good friends in life. With that in mind, Guthrie shared that they would often talk about the future together. During those heart to hearts, Guthrie gathered that Kotb’s time on Today could end, especially as the TV personality has become a mother in the past decade and turned 60.
It sounds like Guthrie is very proud of her now former co-anchor for choosing to “go into the great unknown” and try something new in her life. At the same time, when Kotb did tell Guthrie, not long before she shocked fans on TV, she also had to voice her own sadness regarding the loss of getting to work with her everyday.
Hoda Kotb received an incredible sendoff last week on Today, that included celebrity guests like Oprah Winfrey, Jimmy Fallon, Gayle King, Maria Shriver, Simone Biles, and Kermit the Frog. Guthrie gave Kotb a thoughtful gift of pom poms to symbolize how after cheering so many people on, she deserves to get that same treatment. Following the exit, tons of her co-workers like Al Roker and Jenna Bush Hager paid tribute to Kotb with such thoughtful words about working alongside her for all these years.
But, what is Hoda Kotb’s “great unknown” moving forward? The anchor recently quipped she won’t be waking up as early for one, but has additionally talked about creating her own wellness app that is “affordable and accessible”, per Good Housekeeping. It’s also been reported that the former Today anchor could be conducting exclusive interviews for the 2026 Winter Olympics and 2028 Summer Olympics along with continuing her Making Space podcast.
While it’ll be weird for some time not to see Kotb and Guthrie together on Today in the mornings, it sounds like Guthrie and Craig Melvin are already getting along great and Kotb’s legacy on Today is just phenomenal.
Savannah Guthrie, co-host of NBC’s Today show, recently spoke out about her feelings regarding her colleague Hoda Kotb’s decision to leave the morning show. In a candid interview, Guthrie admitted that she was both “shocked and not shocked” by Kotb’s departure.Guthrie explained that while she was saddened to see Kotb leave, she also understood her colleague’s desire to explore new opportunities and challenges. “Hoda is such a talented and driven individual, and I know she will excel in whatever she chooses to do next,” Guthrie said.
Despite her mixed emotions, Guthrie expressed gratitude for the time she and Kotb spent working together on Today. “Hoda has been an incredible partner and friend, and I will miss her presence on the show immensely,” Guthrie said. “But I know that this is not goodbye, just a see you later.”
Fans of the Today show can rest assured that Guthrie will continue to hold down the fort as one of the show’s main anchors. And while Kotb may be moving on to new opportunities, her impact on the show and its viewers will not be forgotten.

It seems style must run in the family as Savannah Guthrie shared a rare photo of her fashionable lookalike mother, Nancy Guthrie, on her 83rd birthday. The Today Show anchor took to Instagram to usher in the celebrations with a sweet tribute to her mom.
Savannah posted a stunning photograph of Nancy sitting in a swanky restaurant while she toasted her glass to the camera. The snap depicted the mother-of-three dressed in a glitzy black and silver cardigan embroidered with sparkly thread. The dazzling number was layered over the top of a matching striped top.
Nancy styled her luscious auburn locks into a soft pixie cut, while she kept her makeup natural and radiant with a pinch of rosy blush and a touch of lipstick. The NBC star’s mom accessorized her chic look with a dainty pearl necklace. Nancy showed off her glamorous French manicure as she raised her glass.
Savannah captioned the heartfelt post: “A big cheers and happy birthday to this beauty. I love you, Mom.”
The mother-and-daughter duo are incredibly close despite Nancy residing in Arizona. The 83-year-old raised her daughter alone after her husband Charles died when Savannah was in her senior year in high school.
The Studio 1A star opened up about her mother’s selflessness during a touching chat with her co-host Jenna Bush Hager back in 2022. “My father died when I was entering my senior year in high school. I then lived at home all through college,” reflected Savannah.
“We didn’t have money to afford the dorm. And that was thing one, but the other was that my sister and I really felt like we should stick with my mom and not leave her alone.
“But when I moved to Butte, Montana, this was it. And it was really hard for me to leave her.”
The television star added: “And that’s when she said, ‘If you can’t leave me, then I didn’t do my job right, Savannah.’ She just gave me permission to go, you know?”
“She could have held onto me. It wouldn’t have taken very much. If she said, ‘Well, you know, Savannah maybe you could find something a little closer to home…’”
“It’s not because she didn’t want me to stay. Of course she wanted me to stay. But she’s like, ‘I’m not going to stand in the way of your dreams. I’m going to tell you, go go go go go.’”
Savannah now has two children herself, daughter Vale, ten, and son Charles, eight, who she shares with her husband Michael Feldman.
In a recent photo shared by Savannah Guthrie, the Today show host is the spitting image of her mother. The resemblance between the two is uncanny, with both women sharing the same smile and sparkling eyes. It’s clear that good genes run in the family, as Guthrie’s mother looks just as youthful and vibrant as her famous daughter. Fans were quick to comment on the striking similarity between the two women, with many noting how beautiful they both are. It’s always heartwarming to see a mother and daughter share such a strong bond and resemblance. Savannah Guthrie truly is the spitting image of her mother in this new photo.

What can marketers learn from the Savannah Bananas?
It’s not easy to describe the Savannah Bananas to someone who hasn’t witnessed them in action. They are part baseball team, part traveling circus and 100% entertainment.
The Bananas play a game they call “Banana Ball,” which resembles baseball in many ways, but with shorter games, 11 rules you won’t find in baseball and more than a hint of vaudeville thrown in for good measure.
It’s a concept almost perfectly designed for social media and online video, and that’s exactly where the Savannah Bananas built a loyal following of fans, some of whom have, for years, entered a lottery for a chance to see it all in person.
We struck up a conversation with Kara Heater, Director of Marketing for the Savannah Bananas, to talk about how the team uses a combination of video, social media and authenticity to entertain millions of fans, many of whom have never seen the team play in person.
If you think the company and products you’re marketing play in a different league than the Savannah Bananas, you’re probably right. But that doesn’t mean you can’t learn from how the Bananas built a phenomenon.

What’s next for Savannah Bananas ahead of 2025 season, starting in March
Cole calls it “Banana Ball 3.0″ and said the goal is to refine the game “to be entertaining on every pitch.” After several years of experimentation, the Bananas will apply lessons learned to make every moment a “must watch,” Cole said.
“It’s a ‘can’t take my eyes off the show’ approach to get ready to go into the league in 2026,” he said.
The Bananas sold out all 84 games on their schedule last year, playing before more than 1 million fans nationwide.
ExploreReady to go Bananas? A guide to baseball, Savannah Bananas style The Bananas’ schedule is designed for maximum exposure. The multigame series in Major League parks mean the Bananas are expected to play before 60,000 to 100,000 spectators in those markets. Games at football stadiums in Tampa, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Clemson, South Carolina are meant to attract large crowds.
“Our ticket waitlist is over 3 million names long,” Cole said. “We’re confident in what we are seeing in terms of demand.”
The Bananas will also play 30 home games at Savannah’s 5,000-seat Grayson Stadium this year, starting with a three-game series Feb. 21-23.
The Truist Park series in Atlanta is March 29-30 after the team played at Gwinnett’s Coolray Field last year.
Here’s what else you need to know ahead of the Bananas’ new season.
ExploreTruist Park to go bananas in 2025 as Savannah Bananas return to Atlanta Who are the Bananas?
Part baseball game, part dance troupe floorshow, part WWE event, the Bananas’ motto is “the greatest show in sports.” The team is often compared to basketball icons the Harlem Globetrotters. Cole draws inspiration from P.T. Barnum, of Barnum and Bailey Circus fame, and baseball marketing genius Bill Veeck, best known for staging the infamous Disco Demolition night in 1979 at Chicago’s Comiskey Park.
The Bananas started in 2016 as a team in the Coastal Plains League, a summer circuit for college players. They played a traditional form of baseball, limiting on-field zaniness, but put a premium on pregame, postgame and between-innings entertainment.
In 2018, Cole first experimented with Banana Ball, staging test games in secret. After playing Banana Ball exhibition games in 2019 and 2020, Cole formed a barnstorming team for the 2021 season.
The so-called “world tour” was such a success that Cole folded the college summer league team after the 2022 season and the Bananas became exclusively a traveling squad. They toured minor league, spring training and college ballparks in 2023 before debuting in Major League stadiums last year, selling out venues such as Boston’s Fenway Park and Houston’s Minute Maid Park.
ExploreSavannah Bananas League? Here’s what fans could expect Who do they play?
Just as basketball’s Globetrotters have a foil in the Washington Generals, the Bananas have regular opponents in the Party Animals and the Firefighters, two other barnstorming teams created by Cole. Later this year, a fourth team, the Texas Tailgaters, joins the ranks and will be the first team other than the Bananas based in a particular region.
Those four teams — the Bananas, Party Animals, Firefighters and Tailgaters — will compete for the Tour Championship at season’s end.
The rosters of all four teams feature former professional and college baseball players as well as specialists, such as stilt walkers, musicians and dancers. The club’s payroll exceeds $1 million.
The Bananas have star power. Former Major League standouts Jonny Gomes, Jake Peavy, Eric Burns, Jonathan Papelbon and Bill “Spaceman” Lee have been regulars in past years, as has Josh Reddick, a Savannah-area native who played 14 years in the big leagues. Roger Clemens and Roy Oswalt came out of retirement to pitch in a game in Houston last year.
Celebrities make cameos as well. Wrestling legend John Cena had an at-bat in a game last year and Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell played — and danced — in a 2023 appearance.
What is Banana Ball?
Pace of play is an issue Major League Baseball has addressed with relative success in recent years, with pitch clocks and batter-related restrictions. Banana Ball rules go farther and condense games to less than two hours.
Mound visits, walks, bunting and stepping out of the batter’s box between pitches is prohibited. Foul balls caught by fans in the stands count as outs.
To encourage close finishes, the games are scored with points rather than runs — the team that scores more runs each inning gets a point. Other rules meant to promote drama throughout the games are officiating challenges and the “golden batter,” which allows a team to send any hitter in the lineup to bat in any spot once per game. Major League Baseball floated the idea of adopting a similar “golden batter” rule during the recent winter meetings.
What makes the Bananas popular?
The Bananas are a car door to car door experience — the entertainment begins from the moment you arrive at the park until the moment you leave. The club puts on a pregame festival, complete with a parade, a marching band, autograph-signing players and two groups of cheerleaders: the “Dad Bod Man-nanas” male squad and the “Nanas” dance team made up of senior-age women.
The creative team behind the Bananas is always innovating, and every pitch is an opportunity for a viral moment. Trick plays, impromptu dance routines, acrobatic fielding and celebrity appearances are the norm between the lines, and the between innings high jinks include crawling baby races and a seventh inning stretch routine set to the tune of Coldplay’s “Yellow.”
Those who go for a beer or the bathroom between innings risk missing a rendition of “Hey Baby,” the 1960s sing-along popularized by Bruce Channel.
Where can I get tickets?
The Bananas are a tough ticket no matter where they play. Tickets for all games are distributed through a lottery system, which is already closed for 2025. Interested buyers can still join the ticket interest list at thesavannahbananas.com.
Ticket resellers such as StubHub do advertise Bananas games but fraudulent tickets have been an issue in previous years. Fake tickets are not honored by the Bananas.

We caught up with him ahead his stop in the hostess city and he says he has quite a show prepared for us.
“If you’ve ever seen a special of mine,” Segura said. “I talk about what’s going on in my life. I do some general observations. I make fun of things. I make fun of myself. I tell some pretty outrageous stories that probably aren’t appropriate for this outlet. They’ll all be live and there’s nothing like live shows. A lot of people say, ‘oh I’ve seen stuff online’ but I’m like there’s nothing like a live event because the energy is just crazy and fun. I’m excited to do this year of touring.”
