The Today host revealed on Tuesday’s broadcast of Today With Jenna & Friends that she once partied with her guest co-host of the day, Little Big Town singer Kimberly Schlapman.
“We had one wild night at a resort in Tennessee,” Bush Hager announced.
“We did, we had a memorable one,” Schlapman replied. “I might remember it a little more than some of y’all do, but it was fun.”
The pair didn’t share much about what happened that evening – though they teased that there was “some dancing on the tables” – but Bush Hager had one lesson she took away from that evening: “If the band Little Big Town asks if you want to go out, you say yes and you cancel your plans for the next day.”
The memory seemed to inspire Schlapman to share a major secret that left Bush Hager shocked. When Bush Hager asked if she’s ever had a “wild night out on vacation,” Schlapman announced that she had something to share that only “four people on this whole Earth know about.”
“Not my parents, not my daddy,” she explained. “So, I decided before I say it I need to tell my momma, so I did that like 10 minutes ago.”

“Wait, your parents didn’t know that until today?!” Bush Hager responded.
“Nobody knew! No one knew!” Schlapman confirmed. As she explained it, the elopement was less of a drunk night in Vegas than it sounds. “We planned it… Schlap was like, ‘What if we get there early and get married?’ And I was like, ‘I’ve never done anything bad! Yes!’”
She later added, “My parents found out 10 minutes ago and I’m still shaking thinking about it. But it’s nice to be free of that.”
Schlapman is the latest celebrity guest host to join Bush Hager on Today With Jenna & Friends. Ciara and Wynonna Judd will also be guest hosting this week ahead of the Grammy Awards.

During the Jan. 28 episode of TODAY with Jenna & Friends, Jenna asked the Little Big Town singer and guest co-host if she’s ever had a “wild night” while vacationing.
Schlapman admitted that she did have a story to tell but noted that only “four people on the whole Earth know about it,” adding that her parents were in the dark about her secret.
“So I decided before I could say it I needed to call my mama, so I did that, like, 10 minutes ago,” she explained. “And I was like, ‘Mama, is Daddy there? Can he hear me? I have to tell you something.’ And I told her, and she’s like, ‘What?’ And then finally I got more nervous and nervous, and then she started giggling.”
The 55-year-old then shared her big secret on air, revealing that she and her husband, Stephen Schlapman, eloped before getting married in front of family and friends.
“My husband, I call him Schlap. My last name is Schlapman. My late husband’s name was Steve. This one’s name is Steve. I can’t call both of my beautiful husbands Steve. So this is Schlap,” she said. “So Schlap and I got married in November 2006. But six months earlier, we eloped to Vegas.”

At the time, members of Little Big Town were booking their own hotel rooms while they were out on the road, so Schlapman decided to let one of her bandmates in on her secret.
“I had to tell Karen (Fairchild) because I wanted a hotel room with my husband, and so she knew,” Schlapman said, adding that she also told her sister the news.
“Your mom didn’t know till today?” Jenna asked.
“My parents found out 10 minutes ago and I’m still shaking thinking about it. But it’s nice to be free of that,” Schlapman said.
Jenna was curious to know if an Elvis Presley impersonator was at the ceremony, and Schlapman confirmed there was one at the reception.
“By the way, I was scared for what was coming, and that was pretty good,” Jenna said about the story.
“It’s pretty good, huh? It’s pretty fun. I’m proud of it,” Schlapman said.
Jenna then asked if Schlapman’s children knew about the elopement, and she said they didn’t.
“Not till now. Yeah, not many folks know. Don’t judge,” Schlapman said.
“No, do not judge. That was amazing,” Jenna said.
“It was beautiful and wonderful and it’s worked out,” Schlapman said.
“It has,” Jenna agreed.

Kimberly Schlapman is spilling the beans on a secret she’s kept for nearly two decades.
While co-hosting Today with Jenna & Friends on Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Little Big Town vocalist revealed to Jenna Bush Hager something that she’s kept secret from her parents and children since 2006. After being asked if she’s “ever had a wild night on vacation,” Schlapman decided it was time to share her story.
“When we talked about this earlier, I started shaking, my hands started shaking. I got really nervous,” Schlapman admitted. “I was like, ‘I do have a story,’ but, like, four people on the whole earth know about it. Not my parents, not my mama and daddy.”
Ten minutes before the show aired, Schlapman rushed to her phone to call her parents. She wanted them to hear the story directly from her before they saw it on television.
“I was like, ‘Mama, is Daddy there, can he hear me? I have to tell you something,’ ” she recalled. “And I told her and she was like, ‘What?!’ And then finally I got more nervous and nervous and then she started giggling. And I was like, ‘Okay.’ So Schlap and I got married — my husband, I call him Schlap, our last name is Schlapman. My late husband’s name was Steve. This one’s name is Steve. I can’t call both of my beautiful men Steve, so this is Schlap. So Schlap and I got married November 2006, but six months earlier we eloped to Vegas.”

Schlapman confirmed that until today, almost “no one” — including her kids — knew about her elopement in Las Vegas.
The country music star says that her decision to elope wasn’t a last-minute one.
“We planned it,” she said. “We planned it because we were meeting some family out at the big beautiful lake out there. So Schlap was like, ‘What if we go a day early to get married.’ And I was like, ‘I’ve never done anything bad!’ And I was like, ‘Yes, yes.’ ”

She continued: “And we kept the secret a really long time. And then — this was back when we were booking hotel rooms with Little Big Town, I had to tell Karen [Fairchild] because I wanted a hotel room with my husband. And so she knew and like one other person, I told my sister.”

Even though Schlapman said she was “still shaking” thinking about how she just revealed her long-kept secret to her parents, she noted it was “nice to be free of that.”
Her “beautiful and wonderful” elopement even had an Elvis impersonator at the reception.
Schlapman and her husband, Stephen, formally got married on a private Caribbean island on Nov. 28, 2006, a rep confirmed to PEOPLE at the time. The pair share daughters Daisy Pearl and Dolly Grace.
Schlapman’s first husband, Steven Roads, died suddenly of a heart attack at age 41 in April 2005. He had been her band’s lawyer.
