  • After being ‘punked’ by Oregon State in OT loss, Gonzaga looking to flip script in second meeting with Beavers

Over the last two weeks, Gonzaga players and coaches have used a variety of words to characterize recent performances that haven’t matched up to the program’s lofty standards.

    “Dead.”

    “Embarrassed.”

    “Super frustrating.”

Senior forward Ben Gregg pulled out another term Saturday to describe what happened the last time Gonzaga faced Oregon State, and where the Bulldogs need to improve in order to avenge a 97-89 overtime loss in Corvallis two weeks ago.

“I feel like we got punked the last time we played them,” said Gregg, an Oregon native who was recruited by Wayne Tinkle’s staff at Oregon State coming out of Clackamas High School. “I feel like I got punked personally. So yeah, it’s something I’ve got to look inside myself and figure out what I need to do and come in with a better mentality and not let that happen again.”

Gonzaga’s latest result, a 43-point rout of Portland at the Chiles Center, was a positive step at a time when Mark Few’s program couldn’t settle for anything less, but the team’s progress likely won’t be measured until the Bulldogs get through a challenging two-game West Coast Conference stretch that begins Tuesday at home against Oregon State (8 p.m., ESPN2) and resumes Saturday with a visit to first-place Saint Mary’s (8 p.m., ESPN).

Players and coaches confronted hard truths about where the Zags were after conceding 200 points in consecutive losses to Oregon State and Santa Clara and Few said the team would be starting “at ground zero” when they returned to the practice floor a few days later. Gonzaga didn’t leave much doubt in its next game, reaching the century mark with nearly three minutes to play at Portland while turning the Pilots over 15 times.

Afterward, Few was asked how much the Zags could take from a blowout win against a bottom-tier WCC team they’re expected to beat soundly.

More than one might imagine, it turns out.

“We don’t usually win like this on the road and quite frankly we were coming off two losses,” Few said. “There’s a lot to learn from this. You’re wondering what the response is going to be. We don’t lose much up there, very rarely lose two in a row. So practices were hard, times are a little tense and you don’t quite know how your team’s going to respond. It was a great response.”

As for how much will translate against a superior Oregon State team? That’s still to be determined.

Gonzaga can’t expect things to come quite as easy on Tuesday facing a Beavers team that shot 58% from the field and got to the foul line 37 times while scoring a season-high 97 points in the last meeting.

The Beavers put up those numbers in front of a sellout home crowd at Gill Coliseum – the school’s first since 2019. Inevitably, it’ll be more difficult to replicate that level of production against a Gonzaga team that’s made lineup and schematic changes to address concerns on the defensive end. Further, it could be hard for OSU to replicate those same offensive numbers on the road, where the Beavers are just 1-4 this season and averaging 71.6 points.

“We don’t lose games, especially two in a row,” Gregg said on Saturday. “Every game from here on out is going to be a Super Bowl for us, because that’s how everybody treats it when they come in and play us. That’s the same approach we have to have even if we’re playing, whoever it is. It’s going to be a different approach I think and obviously playing at home helps, too.”

Few identified defensive breakdowns at all five positions when the Zags and Beavers met two weeks ago and the box score reflected as much.

Michael Rataj, a 6-foot-9 forward who ranks second in the WCC averaging 21.7 points per game (conference games only), scored 29 against GU and is coming off a 30-point outing against Santa Clara. Nate Kingz, a 6-foot-5 guard, made a trio of 3-pointers on his way to a 20-point night. Gonzaga had trouble at times containing 6-foot point guard Damarco Minor and, at the opposite end of the spectrum, struggled with 6-foot-9 bruising center Parsa Fallah, who had 16 points.

“It’s a big, physical team,” Few said. “They stung us at a lot of positions. Their point guard played well, their big wing shot the ball really well, their bigs went at us. So they’re a handful. Tink has mixed up his defenses well, so it’s a short turnaround. We play them in a couple days, so we’ll have to get after it.”

Winning on Tuesday would push Gonzaga (15-6, 6-2) two games ahead of Oregon State (16-6, 7-3) in the WCC standings and give the Bulldogs their first victory over the Beavers since 1932. OSU’s overtime victory in Corvallis also gave the Beavers their 13th consecutive win in the series.

“Back home, need that dub,” senior forward Michael Ajayi said. “They had us back in Oregon and we can’t wait. We’ll be starting our coverages and all that tomorrow, so no days off. We’re ready for them.”

After being ‘punked’ by Oregon State in OT loss, Gonzaga looking to flip script in second meeting with Beavers

Gonzaga had their hearts broken in a tough overtime loss to Oregon State earlier this season. The Beavers pulled off a stunning upset, handing the Bulldogs just their second loss of the season. But now, Gonzaga is looking for redemption as they prepare for their second meeting with Oregon State.

The Bulldogs are determined to come out stronger and more focused this time around. They know they have the talent and the drive to defeat the Beavers, and they are ready to show it on the court. With a renewed sense of purpose and a chip on their shoulder, Gonzaga is looking to flip the script in their upcoming matchup.

Head coach Mark Few has been pushing his team to learn from their mistakes and come out swinging in their second meeting with Oregon State. The Bulldogs are working hard in practice, fine-tuning their game plan, and preparing to take on their opponents with everything they’ve got.

Gonzaga knows they have what it takes to come out on top in their rematch with Oregon State. With their eyes on the prize and a desire for redemption, the Bulldogs are ready to show the Beavers what they’re made of. Stay tuned for what promises to be an intense and thrilling showdown between these two powerhouse teams.

  • Endgame Script And How He Had No Idea He’d Be The New Captain America

Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie is ready to officially inherit the mantle of Captain America from his friend and former costar Chris Evans. Mackie has starred as Sam WIlson in many MCU projects starting with 2014’s Captain America: The WInter Soldier, and his character started off as the Falcon, a sidekick to Evan’s Steve Rogers/Captain America. In Avengers: Endgame, Steve passed his iconic shield to Sam, who properly took on the title at the end of the DIsney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Coincidentally, the real-life story of Mackie discovering he would be the new Captain America involved Evans passing the torch. Speaking with Fandango as part of their Big Ticket interview series, Mackie told the memorable story of how Evans delivered the life-changing news, which made both stars jump “around in a circle high-fiving like two 12 year-olds that just met Mickey Mouse.” According to the actor, Evan dropped the news while filming in Atlanta.

Mackie went into further detail, stating:

“It was a bunch of us at his house–he had this crazy house–sitting there watching a game, shooting the sh*t. […] So he goes, ‘have you read the new script?’ I said, ‘ nah.’ […] And he was like ‘you don’t know?’ And you know, being black, I’m like ‘I’mma die, damn. They’re getting rid of me, man. I don’t even cause no trouble. I stand in the back, like I don’t bother nobody.’ So he’s like ‘c’mon, c’mon.’ […] In his house, he had like a trap door that went to a basement that was like the man cave of all man caves. He has all of his marvel stuff laid out, his new script and all this stuff. And I’m like ‘oh, this is your prep room.’”

“He gets the new script. He goes to like the last 10 pages, and he goes ‘read it!’ So me thinking they killed me off […] I get to the part and it’s like, you know, I’m reading the scene between us, and it goes ‘he hands him the shield.’ I’m like, ‘so why did you give me the shield? He’s like, ‘because you’re f**king Captain America.’ […] We hug, we jump up and down… It was hilarious.”

Because of Evans, Mackie “knew [he] could handle” playing Captain America. As such, the actor says he “couldn’t imagine finding out any other way.

What Anthony Mackie’s Story About Becoming Captain America Means

The story of Mackie learning he will become Captain America parallels that of Sam in some regard. While Evans did not go back in time then bequeath the shield to Mackie, he did still pass on the role friend to friend, which is incredibly special. Evans is synonymous with the role of Captain America, so Mackie receiving his seal of approval is a huge deal. Like Steve knowing Sam could handle the shield, so did Evans with Mackie.

Captain America: Brave New World director Julius Onah reveals that stars Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez brought “heart and soul” to the MCU film.

Moreover, Mackie seems to draw confidence from Evans’ faith in him. Given that Steve’s legacy looms large in the MCU, this may factor into Mackie’s performance as Sam, who honors Steve’s legacy while remaining his own man. Likewise, Mackie will continue to play Sam as the same character audiences have followed for over a decade, but with a new responsibility attached to his role as a franchise lead.

Our Take On Anthony Mackie’s Story About Becoming Captain America

Anthony Mackie and Chris Evans in 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'

Mackie has been a reliably entertaining part of the MCU, and his take on Captain America will likely not deviate from this trend. Evans’ enthusiasm bodes well not just for Mackie, but also for audiences as well. It’s heartwarming that the real-life transition between Evans and Mackie playing Captain America mirrors that of Steve and Sam. Regardless, Mackie’s Sam will finally get to shine as a leading man in Captain America: Brave New World.

    Upcoming MCU Movies

As fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe know, the conclusion of “Avengers: Endgame” saw Steve Rogers passing on the mantle of Captain America to Sam Wilson, played by Anthony Mackie. But what many may not realize is that Mackie himself had no idea he would be taking on this iconic role until the very last minute.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mackie revealed that he didn’t find out about his character’s big promotion until he received the script for “Endgame.” He shared, “I got a call from the Russos, and they said, ‘Come down to Atlanta. We want to pitch you this idea for the new Captain America.’ I’m like, ‘I’m in!’”

Mackie’s excitement and surprise at being chosen as the new Captain America mirror the emotions of fans who were shocked by the unexpected twist in the film. But despite not knowing his character’s fate until the eleventh hour, Mackie embraced the role with enthusiasm and dedication, making his debut as the new Captain America in the Disney+ series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”

The revelation of Mackie’s casting as the new Captain America serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of the MCU and the surprises that can come with each new installment. And as fans eagerly anticipate the future of the franchise, they can rest assured that Mackie will continue to honor the legacy of Steve Rogers while bringing his own unique spin to the character of Captain America.

  • Eric Kripke Explains How the Script for ‘The Boys’ Season 5 Is Evolving

The Boys Season 5 is going to break our hearts simply for the reason that the show will come to an end, and we’ll not have another season that looks into the traumas and tantrums of our favorite heroes and villains. With an amazing penultimate episode and a killer finale, the fourth season felt more like a reflection of the events that are happening around us. What started as a parody of the superhero genre has turned into full-blown political satire, and rightfully so. In a new interview with Forbes, Eric Kripke spoke about how current events will affect the upcoming season.

Sometimes the lines between fiction and reality blur in the most unexpected ways. The Boys Season 4, the finale titled, ‘Assassination Run,’ came with a disclaimer given the current events at the time. When asked whether how ongoing events will affect the episodes of the fifth season, which is currently filming, Kripke revealed that “they’re not all written, by the way. They’re about half-written.” He further explained,

“…I mean, look – things adjust all the time. So, that doesn’t really scare us. That’s pretty par for the course. You’re always rewriting these things right up until the day before they shoot, and sometimes, the day they shoot. So, we’re used to changing things as the world changes – but yes, we definitely adjust scripts as new events come to light.”

The Fate of ‘The Boys’ Is Already Sealed

While the scripts aren’t finished and are open to change, Kripke revealed that the fates of The Seven and The Boys are already sealed. “We have in terms of the big picture of the story, like it stays the same. I mean, especially in the final season when every character has to reach their climax – like we’ve had those in our back pocket for a while and this season is mostly just figuring out how to get there, you know?” He further explained the changes come in terms of conversations and jokes. “So, it’s more like the stuff that the characters talk about that’s happening in society and some of the joke targets we’re taking, and some of that stuff changes, but the main bones of it stays pretty similar.”

The Boys Season 5 is currently filming and has no release date, yet. You can get caught up on the first four seasons now streaming on Prime Video and stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Kripke revealed that the upcoming season will delve even deeper into the complexities of the characters, exploring their motivations and inner struggles. Spider-Man 4 Delay? Rumors of Script Issues and Tom Holland Drama

Three separate scoopers claim that Spider-Man 4 is in big trouble, including reports that Tom Holland is butting heads with Marvel head Kevin Feige over the story. Rumors also suggest there are issues with the script.

Previous reports have suggested something similar, indicating that Feige and Sony have been butting heads, as Sony reportedly wants Spider-Man 4 released as soon as possible. It’s also claimed that some want another big multiverse-style story, similar to No Way Home, while others prefer bringing Spider-Man back to a street-level focus with characters like Daredevil. Black Cat is currently rumored to be the female lead.

Recently saw the news that Spider-Man 4 will get released July 26, 2026 directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and will film next year.

Spider-Man 4 Report: New Villain, Secret Wars Connections, Reduced Zendya Role

What does My Time To Shine Hello say? Changing everything

Rumors about problems with Spider-Man 4 seem to have recently originated from scooper My Time To Shine Hello (MTSSH). While MTSSH has been hit or miss lately—possibly due to Marvel shutting down Can We Get Some Toast—this one may have some truth.

Last week saw MTSSH say that Tom Holland likes the Spider-Man 4 story but Kevin Feige does not and that they are:

“now rewriting it and changing everything. The script isn’t ready yet and won’t be for a while.

What does Daniel RPK say? Script is facing problems

Following MTSSH’s rumor, Daniel RPK chimed in and indeed said the Spider-Man 4 script is having issues:

    • The script is facing problems.

    • The writing team is trying to fix the plot and improve the story.

    • Following the success of No Way Home, Kevin Feige and Sony felt pressured and want to deliver something better.

What does Jeff Sneider say? Release date possibly pushed back

On a recent episode of the Hot Mic podcast, a fan asked about Daniel RPK’s claims that the Spider-Man 4 script is undergoing significant rewrites, with Marvel boss Kevin Feige taking the lead on creative input. The goal is reportedly to elevate the original script, which Feige was not satisfied with.

Co-host Jon Rocha added that Tom Holland said the script is great, but Sneider interjected and blasted, “What are we expecting Tom to say?! There could be no script! Tom is signing on to Odyssey movies without knowing what the script is!”

Sneider added, “We got to stop listening to Tom Holland… Just the f’k up.”

Rocha asked Sneider if he thinks it will push the release date, which saw Sneider reply, “Yes.” Rocha also asked Sneider if he believes it’s a page one rewrite; Sneider replied, “Yes.”

Sneider continued and mentioned he thinks the third Spider-Verse film will be released in 2026 and that Spider-Man 4 will be pushed back a year to 2027:

From what I heard from my source, I don’t think that Sony will release two Spider-Man movies in the same year. There won’t be a movie next year, so if there is one in 2026 then one of them is to come in 2027 under that logic.

So right now I think the plan was always to have Spider-Man ready in time for 2026, in which case Beyond would be 2027 but at this point – because I heard Beyond would be ready by 2026 [so] they would just hold it [until 2027] to avoid [Spider-Man 4] – now at this point maybe Beyond comes out in 2026 and Spider-Man 4 goes 2027. Maybe March 2027 because [The Batman: Part II] is on October.

robert downey jr returns mcu doctor doom avengers doomsday 2

Spider-Man 4 before Avengers: Secret Wars

Worth a mention is that it seems Spider-Man 4 will have to be released before Avengers: Secret Wars which gets released on May 7, 2027, so if Spider-Man 4 drops March 2027 that will be similar to how Captain Marvel was released a month before Avengers: Endgame. Captain Marvel wasn’t a good movie yet still made a lot of money, which we now know is because it was sandwiched between Infinity War and Endgame. No one showed up for the sequel and it lost Disney $200 million and is the MCU’s worst-performing movie of all time. So Spider-Man 4 getting released a month before Secret Wars should obviously be nothing to worry about.

Tom Holland is also said to be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday, which gets released on May 1, 2026. The present release date for Spider-Man 4 again is July 26, 2026, so any changes shouldn’t impact Doomsday.

There have been recent rumors circulating about potential delays for the highly anticipated film Spider-Man 4. Speculations have been growing about script issues and drama involving the film’s star, Tom Holland.

The script for Spider-Man 4 has reportedly been facing some challenges, with writers struggling to find the right balance between action, humor, and character development. This has led to concerns that the film may not meet the high expectations set by its predecessors.

In addition, there have been whispers of drama surrounding Tom Holland, who has played the beloved superhero since 2016. Some sources claim that Holland is unhappy with certain aspects of the script and has been pushing for changes, causing tension on set.

While these rumors have not been confirmed by the film’s production team, fans are growing increasingly anxious about the potential delays and changes to the highly anticipated sequel. Only time will tell if Spider-Man 4 will be able to overcome these obstacles and deliver the thrilling and captivating experience that fans have come to expect from the franchise. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation unfolds.

Cursive script text recognition in natural scene images poses several challenges, especially when it comes to Arabic text. Arabic is a complex language with a unique script that is written from right to left and has many ligatures and diacritics.

One of the main challenges in recognizing Arabic cursive script text in natural scene images is the presence of ligatures. Ligatures are combinations of two or more letters that are written as a single connected glyph. These ligatures can vary in shape and size, making it difficult for optical character recognition (OCR) systems to accurately identify them.

Another complexity in Arabic text recognition is the presence of diacritics. Diacritics are small marks that are used to indicate vowels and other phonetic information in Arabic script. These diacritics can be easily missed or misinterpreted by OCR systems, leading to errors in text recognition.

Furthermore, the cursive nature of Arabic script can also pose challenges for OCR systems, as the letters in a word are often connected in a continuous flow. This can make it difficult to accurately segment and recognize individual letters in a word.

Despite these challenges, advances in deep learning and computer vision techniques have led to improvements in Arabic text recognition in natural scene images. Researchers continue to work on developing more accurate and robust OCR systems that can effectively recognize cursive script text in Arabic and other languages.

Bob Dylan acted out “A Complete Unknown’s” script before he approved it

Move over Timotheé Chalamet, Bob Dylan might have a career in acting . . .

The legendary folk and rock musician was heavily involved in the filmmaking process of his biopic “A Complete Unknown,” which follows a young, musically inclined Dylan (Chalamet) as he slowly rises to fame. As Dylan forges a name for himself as a folk musician, he controversially switches from acoustic to electric guitar, changing his career forever.

While the script was being written, Dylan, an executive producer on the film, would reportedly act out scenes with director James Mangold before officially approving the script.

One of the film’s producers Peter Jaysen said on the podcast “The Town,” “[Dylan] met with Jim Mangold multiple times.

“At one point they sat there and they read the entire script out loud, with Jim Mangold reading every part and stage direction, and Bob Dylan only reading lines of dialogue for himself,” Jaysen said. “Through that process, [Dylan] sat there writing notes on the script. At the end of the last session with Jim Mangold, he signed the script and said, ‘Go with God.’”

Even though Dylan “did not have final cut,” Jaysen stated Dylan’s role was significant.

Chalamet, who plays a young Dylan in the biopic, also shared with Rolling Stone that the musician went through the film’s screenplay line by line.

“Jim has an annotated Bob script lying around somewhere,” he said. “I’ll beg him to get my hands on it. He’ll never give it to me.”

Mangold explained, “I felt like Bob just wanted to know what I was up to. ‘Who is this guy? Is he a s**thead? Does he get it?’ — I think the normal questions anyone asks when they’re throwing themselves in league with someone.”

Now out in theaters, “A Complete Unknown” is a film adaptation of the book, “Dylan Goes Electric” by Elijah Wald. The film has landed Chalamet another Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a drama.
