Swope Middle School’s secured campus lifted after unfounded threat
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Swope Middle School was placed on a secured campus on Tuesday due to a potential threat that police determined was not credible, Washoe County School District (WCSD) officials say.
The secured campus went into effect around 12:35 p.m. on Jan. 28 and was lifted at 1:21 p.m.
Classes resumed as scheduled after the secured campus was lifted.
The following message went out to families:
Dear Swope Middle School Families-
This message is being sent on behalf of Principal Eian Gilbert, with important information:
We secured our campus today after we received a possible threat. WCSD School Police have investigated and determined the threat was not credible. The secured campus has been lifted and classes will continue be in session today as scheduled.
As always, the safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the school at 333-5330.

Europa League round of 16 place secured
We have sealed a place in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 thanks to Thursday night’s victory over Elfsborg.
Running out 3-0 winners over the Swedish side, we finished the group with 17 points which has seen us finish in 4th place and progress automatically through to the last 16.
The draw for the round of 16 will take place on Friday 21 February and we will be paired for the draw with Manchester United, who finished in third.
While we do not know for certain our opponents in the round of 16, we know it will be one of four teams thanks to UEFA’s new bracket system, which is in use for all their competitions.
The side we will face will be one of Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, AZ Alkmaar and Midtjylland, who finished 13th, 14th, 19th and 20th respectively.
They will now take a place in the knockout play-off games to decide which two shall progress to the round of 16. Their games for the play-offs will be drawn tomorrow before being played out next month February.
The round of 16 matches will be two-legged clashes, with the first leg taking place on the Thursday 6 March and the second leg on the Thursday 13 March. We will be the seeded team in the tie so will be the home side for the second leg.

In the settlement, which was so last minute that the trial had already been scheduled to begin, Harry secured an eight-figure payout, acknowledgment of guilt from NGN, and — most poignantly — a public apology from the company to both himself and his mother.
For the first ever time, NGN also admitted to any wrongdoing at their publication the Sun, although they said that the unlawful activity was carried out by private investigators hired by the tabloid, not their own journalists.
“NGN offers a full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex for the serious intrusion by The Sun between 1996 and 2011 into his private life, including incidents of unlawful activities carried out by private investigators working for The Sun,” NGN’s public statement began.
“NGN also offers a full and unequivocal apology to the Duke of Sussex for the phone hacking, surveillance and misuse of private information by journalists and private investigators instructed by them at the News of the World,” it went on. “NGN further apologizes to the Duke for the impact on him of the extensive coverage and serious intrusion into his private life as well as the private life of Diana, Princess of Wales, his late mother, in particular during his younger years.”

Needless to say, many felt incredibly emotional over Harry finally securing a long-overdue apology to Diana, who was famously subjected to relentless media intrusion and scrutiny prior to her death.
“He never forgot his mother through it all. He knew this fight was bigger than him. To get an admission of guilt and an apology not just for him but for Princess Diana is beyond words. He did it,” one popular tweet reads.
“Princess Diana’s baby did it. Made his bully apologise to him and his mother. He can sleep well knowing his mother got an apology she was owed,” another adds.
