As XRP continues to steadfastly hold as the third-largest cryptocurrency based on market cap, the leading altcoin might be experiencing the calm before the storm.

Calling out this development, market analyst Mikybull Crypto acknowledged that XRP was building up momentum that could see it smash its all-time high (ATH) of $3.40 and soar to the $7 level.

The analyst added, “XRP might rip through to $8 before a cycle top, given the current bullish fundamentals. This is the period you manage your risk, by the way, as it is on resistance.”

Will Ripple’s XRP Continue Seeing Light at the End of the Tunnel?

Having stagnated at the seventh position for the better part of three years, XRP has found its footing, thanks to the pro-crypto policies expected to be rolled out in Donald Trump’s administration.

As a result, discussions about XRP being included in the US Strategic Reserve are in high gear, thanks to the executive order recently made by President Trump.

Affirming this development, Ripple CEO recently took to X, formerly Twitter, and pointed out, “Unless you are choosing to ignore the core tenants of the POTUS campaign (which aggressively supports American companies and technologies), our efforts are actually increasing the likelihood of a crypto strategic reserve (which includes Bitcoin) happening.”

Meanwhile, renowned crypto lawyer Bill Morgan recently opined that if President Trump had the liberty of launching TrumpCoin (TRUMP) without the rigorous registration from the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), then XRP ought to be treated in a similar manner.

On the other hand, XRP continues to enjoy bullish momentum, having recorded a year-to-date increase of 483.5%, according to CoinGecko data.

XRP Sees Calm Before the Storm after Ripple CEO Signals the Inclusion of XRP in U.S. Strategic Reserve

In a recent development that has sent shockwaves through the cryptocurrency community, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse hinted at the potential inclusion of XRP in the U.S. Strategic Reserve. This move could potentially catapult XRP into mainstream adoption and solidify its position as a major player in the digital currency space.

Following Garlinghouse’s announcement, XRP has seen a period of relative calm as investors eagerly await further details on the potential partnership with the U.S. government. Many are speculating that this could be the catalyst that propels XRP to new heights, with some predicting a surge in price and market capitalization.

As we await more information on this groundbreaking development, it’s clear that XRP is on the brink of a major breakthrough. The calm before the storm may soon give way to a whirlwind of activity as XRP cements its place as a key player in the global financial landscape.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development and keep an eye on XRP as it prepares to make waves in the cryptocurrency world.

  • Groundhog Day: Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow, predicts six more weeks of winter

    CNN
     —

Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog weather watcher, was pulled from his warm burrow this morning and saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter.

Each February 2, on Groundhog Day, the members of the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club make the pilgrimage to Gobbler’s Knob — Phil’s official home. Legend has it, if he sees his shadow, six more weeks of winter are on the way. If he doesn’t, an early spring arrives.

In reality, winter will end on the spring equinox, known also as the vernal equinox, on March 20 at 5:01 a.m. ET, regardless of Sunday’s prediction. But weather conditions don’t always follow the timetable — and neither does Phil.

Phil has been prognosticating since the late 1800s but his recent predictions would have a better track record if he just flipped a coin: He has only been right about 35% of the time since 2005, according to data analyzed by NOAA.

Phil’s call for an early spring last year came true. February 2024 was the third warmest on record for the Lower 48. March also ended up much warmer than normal, according to NOAA data.

There are more consistent experts to turn to when Phil falters.

Meteorologists at the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center produce forecasts for temperatures and precipitation across the US on timescales ranging from one week to more than a year.

CNN digital monthly outlook temp feb 2025 013025.png

Their outlook for February calls for above-average temperatures, or a potential early spring, from parts of the Rockies through the South and much of the East. Below-average temperatures from the Pacific Northwest into parts of the Midwest could be an extended winter. These regional trends are likely to continue into early spring, the center’s forecasts through April show.

Rounds of brutal cold have pounded the eastern half of the US all winter.

It was the coldest Presidential Inauguration in 40 years and cold unusually far south ushered in a historic snowstorm for the Gulf Coast. It’s been one of the 10-coldest winters for dozens of cities east of the Mississippi River, according to the Southeast Regional Climate Center.

But the West has remained warm this winter following the warmest fall on record for the Lower 48. Phoenix, Las Vegas and San Francisco are just a few cities experiencing one of their 10-warmest winters.

Warmer winters aren’t a fluke, even when punctuated with seasonably appropriate cold. Winter has become the fastest-warming season for nearly 75% of the US as temperatures rise globally in a world warming due to fossil fuel pollution.

So, Phil’s prediction of six more weeks of winter is a bad bet in a warming world.

Each year on February 2nd, all eyes turn to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, as the world’s most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, emerges from his burrow to predict the weather for the upcoming weeks. This morning, Phil saw his shadow, signaling six more weeks of winter.

According to folklore, if Phil sees his shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter weather. If he doesn’t see his shadow, then spring will come early. This tradition dates back to the 1800s and continues to captivate audiences around the world.

While some may be disappointed by Phil’s prediction of extended winter weather, others embrace the opportunity to enjoy winter activities for a little while longer. Whether you’re a fan of snow or longing for warmer days, Punxsutawney Phil’s forecast serves as a fun and lighthearted reminder of the changing seasons.

As we settle in for a few more weeks of winter, let’s make the most of it by bundling up, sipping hot cocoa, and embracing the beauty of the season. Spring will be here before we know it, but in the meantime, let’s enjoy the cozy moments that winter has to offer.

  • Suns’ player who backed himself sees plans backfire spectacularly

Without doubt one of the best free agent signings of last summer was the Phoenix Suns convincing Tyus Jones to come and play for them on a minimum contract. The team needed a point guard, and Jones needed a bigger platform on which to showcase his excellent floor general skills.

Prior to signing with Phoenix he had been one of the best backups in the league, while with the Washington Wizards as a starter he had a career year in several key categories. Unfortunately for Jones however the Wizards are not essential viewing, while his time with the Memphis Grizzlies was overshadowed by the brilliance of Ja Morant.

Now the decision of Jones to join the Suns looks to have backfired.

On paper all of this made sense, and the marriage between the Suns and Jones got off to a brilliant start. He went straight into the starting lineup – a spot he has yet to relinquish – and with Bradley Beal again struggling with injuries emerged as a steady presence when the Suns needed him to be. To this point the 30 minutes he’s averaged per night is the most of his career.

The silly turnovers lessened, while Jones helped the group get into their offensive sets quicker as well. When Beal went to the bench – as well as center Jusuf Nurkic not being used at all – the thought process was that Jones’ life would become easier. Instead the opposite has happened, and it could impact his ability to get a long-term deal and as much money as he would have last summer.

That’s because rather than Ryan Dunn and Nick Richards covering for the defensive inabilities of Jones – which they most certainly have – a spotlight has instead been shone on all of the things Jones cannot do. With Beal and Nurkic no longer around to take on the criticism, another scapegoat has been needed to try and explain the woes of this season.

Unfortunately for Jones, it is the fact he’s an undersized guard with only so much in his bag offensively that has been selected. This despite the 41.7 percent he has shot from deep so far this season being another career high, while the 6.2 assists are the second best mark of his career.

Yet Jones is nowhere near the scorer that Beal is, and that has become more of a pressing issue since he went to the bench. Right now Dunn and Richards are combining for 18.5 points, with Beal alone sitting at 17.1. If he were put back into the starting lineup in place of Jones however, both the scoring but also the defensive rating could improve.

Beal has shown he can still hang with quicker guards on that end, while his bigger body type means he doesn’t get bullied as easily as Jones either. Doing this would bring up the problem question of last season – when the Suns had no floor general and looked listless offensively – but putting the ball in Booker’s hands more might just give him some of his swagger back. It has been sorely missed.

Right now the Suns rank 23rd in defensive rating, and give up 114.9 points per game. A number that basically holds true (115.0) when Jones is out on the court. This has to change, and playing him less while giving a combination of Beal and Monte Morris some more run might be the solution. Morris has struggled for a consistent role this season, but he is the better defender of the two.

But whereas prior to this season the feeling was that Jones would put himself in the shop window on a team that would be fighting for a top four spot in the Western Conference, the opposite has happened. Instead his very real flaws have been exposed on a roster that is nowhere near competing, and it could have major implications for his next contract.

Ironically it could be the Suns who profit in this scenario – as if nobody else is willing to give Jones what he wants – he may try to run it back for one more year to get one last big contract before turning 30. The list of undersized guards who improve after hitting their 30s is tiny, and Jones doesn’t look like being an exception right now. This has not gone to plan for him at all.

The Phoenix Suns’ player who backed himself, expecting a stunning victory, saw his plans backfire spectacularly in a recent game. Despite his confidence and determination, it was clear that things did not go as he had hoped.

The player’s bold moves and aggressive plays seemed to only lead to turnovers and missed shots, ultimately costing the team crucial points in the game. His decision to take matters into his own hands instead of relying on his teammates proved to be a costly mistake.

As the game progressed, it became increasingly evident that the player’s individualistic approach was not working, and the Suns suffered a crushing defeat. It was a humbling lesson for the player, who learned the hard way that sometimes, teamwork and strategy are key to success on the court.

This serves as a reminder that while self-confidence is important, it must be balanced with humility and a willingness to work together with others. The Suns’ player may have backed himself, but in the end, it was a team effort that was needed to secure a win.

  • “Proper Cheating …”: Controversial Concussion Substitution Sees Harshit Rana Replace Shivam Dube vs England, Internet Reacts

Talented pacer Harshit Rana, who has played two Tests, quite surprisingly made a surprise entry into the India playing XI in the fourth T20I against England in Pune on Friday. Though initially not named in the XI, Rana was called upon to replace allrounder Shivam Dube as a concussion substitute after the latter was struck on the helmet in the final over of India’s innings. Dube, who scored 53, was hit on the helmet in the penultimate ball of the Indian innings by a Jamie Overton delivery.

Following the mandatory concussion test, Dube was cleared to play. However, he was run out on the final delivery of the innings.

Rana, who had recently played in the opening Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, came in to bowl in the 12th over and made an immediate impact, dismissing Liam Livingstone for 9. Rana finished with three wickets.

England skipper Jos Buttler appeared unhappy with the decision and was seen having a discussion with the umpires on the field. According to ICC’s rules, teams are only allowed to name like-for-like replacements if a batsman is ruled out due to a concussion.

The decision to use Rana as a replacement of Dube did not go down well with many social media users, with some calling it cheating.

India had posted 181/9 after being sent in to bat. The hosts won the match by 15 runs to take an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. The final T20I will be played in Mumbai on Sunday.

In a shocking turn of events during the first T20 match between India and England, Harshit Rana was brought in as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube. The decision has sparked controversy and debate among cricket fans and experts alike.

Concussion substitutions were introduced in cricket to ensure the safety and well-being of players who suffer head injuries during a match. However, there have been instances where teams have been accused of abusing the rule to gain a tactical advantage.

In this case, many are questioning the legitimacy of Rana’s inclusion as a substitute, with some suggesting that he may not have genuinely suffered a concussion. The decision to replace an all-rounder like Dube with a batsman like Rana has also raised eyebrows.

The internet is abuzz with reactions to the controversial substitution, with some condemning it as cheating and others defending it as a necessary precaution for player safety. The debate is sure to continue in the days to come as more details about the incident emerge.

  • Dark Clouds Loom Over College Football As Jaden Rashada Saga Sees New Twist in Latest Transfer Portal Revelation

The transfer portal saga has reached a climax in the last few weeks, involving a lot of players poaching and tampering allegations over the big schools healing from the bigwig conferences. College football has visibly stepped into a transitional era where terms like ethics and loyalty of the players become all but elusive. When Beau Pribula hit the portal just ahead of a crucial playoff match with the Nittany Lions, it left James Franklin and the fans and veterans alike in severe jeopardy. But quite unsurprisingly, it’s just one instance among the hundreds. The NCAA portal window, which is directly challenging the season timeline, has been a recurring theme of dispute in the mix.

The latest one to mention is the drama swirling over Jaden Rashada, which has set a clumsy record of flips over the last couple of years. On the parallel, Xavier Lucas, a Wisconsin athlete, also fights a legal battle over portal permission. The latest intel kind of binds these two to a single faith.

Xavier Lucas’s projected fate at the portal revealed

    Article continues below this ad

Lucas, a former Wisconsin cornerback, is now eyeing to take his talent to the University of Miami. However, Wisconsin didn’t allow him permission, citing a restriction as per their NIL contracts, which is two years. Lucas and his advocates claimed that the university purposefully wanted to block his career growth by delinquently denying him the assent. They didn’t just stop him from hitting the portal, they rather accused Miami of tampering with players which might invite complex NCAA violations and legal repercussions for both institutions. But before it further opens the pandora’s box, we get busy soft-guessing who will win the shot at court.

Well, Locked on Big 12 host Cam Stuart has an answer that can change the landscape of the entire college football world. ‘‘If I’m, if I’m a football player, why would I enter the transfer portal when I can just say Deuces, I don’t go here anymore, I go somewhere else and guess what if I’m Miami or Oklahoma State or Texas Tech, I don’t want to pull from the transfer portal. I just want to enroll a new kid here, It’s that simple. No more paperwork. Just welcome to the show, this is going to officially throw us into even further chaos,” Stuart reflected on a concerning aspect.

They say every law has an escape, and this is how it works. The best or worst part is you can’t blame any player for the intricacy or the infidelity because they are entitled to think about their future as long as they are permitted to.

On the other hand, the college football world trademark ruling doesn’t only impact a single entity, rather it will initiate a new era in the same area, allowing many more to avail of the same. Just like Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia’s win over separating the Juco years from the overall collegiate eligibility paved the way for the youngsters to go for the same afterward, the Wisconsin vs Miami judgment will decide a lot going forward. ‘‘Make no mistake, this kid’s gonna play for Miami next year. Like they’re not, Wisconsin’s not going to win this case. Wisconsin has kind of fumbled the ball on this in terms of making them sign this NIL contract which actually isn’t going to go into effect until maybe April when it goes before the house,” Stuart added.

Well, if this happens to be the case, it’s time to raise a stock on Jaden Rasheda as well.

Jaden Rasheda will possibly benefit from a positive Xavier Lucas judgment

Rasheda has the craziest portal records that didn’t do him any favor. The nomadic nature of his recruits only puzzled the teams, and the staff associated with it. But again, technically, he is allowed to keep jumping ship unless and until he finds his match. Thanks to the updated NIL era. He had a tumultuous history in Florida involving a massive $13 million NIL deal that led him to depart even before playing a single game. After that, he came to Arizona State, had a brief yet significant time, and ended up in Georgia at the start of the past season.

Rashada didn’t see the field for Georgia in 2024 after transferring. But somehow, the California native has become a poster boy for the NIL era in college sports for all the wrong reasons. Now, Georgia is not serving him anymore, and he is looking for another home at the moment.

    Article continues below this ad

He is juggling between UCLA and North Carolina but has to wait until the spring portal opens before doing the pen and paperwork. Well, if you were wondering, whether or not he can face a legal intricacy for the process, the Wisconsin case is the reference for you.

College football fans were left stunned as news broke of a new twist in the ongoing saga surrounding star quarterback Jaden Rashada. The talented player, who had been a standout for his team, has been at the center of controversy after entering the transfer portal amid rumors of discord with coaching staff.

Just when it seemed like the dust was settling on the situation, a bombshell revelation has emerged that has sent shockwaves through the college football world. Reports have surfaced that Rashada was not only considering transferring to another school, but that he had also been in talks with agents and exploring potential opportunities to enter the NFL draft early.

This latest development has cast dark clouds over the future of college football, with many questioning the integrity of the sport and the impact that player empowerment and the transfer portal are having on the traditional structure of college athletics. The situation has also raised concerns about the influence of agents and the potential for players to be exploited or manipulated for financial gain.

As fans and analysts alike grapple with the implications of this new twist in the Jaden Rashada saga, one thing is clear: the landscape of college football is changing, and the fallout from this controversy is likely to have far-reaching consequences for the sport as a whole. Stay tuned as this story continues to unfold and the future of college football hangs in the balance.

  • LinkedIn Founder Reid Hoffman sees bright AI future and hopes his tech peers are right about Trump

LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman has been immersed in Silicon Valley since his August 1967 birth in Palo Alto, California, in the shadow of Stanford University, where he and fellow technology luminary Peter Thiel became friends as college students during the 1980s.

They went on to start PayPal during the late 1990s while working alongside a coterie of other bright-eyed entrepreneurs who went on to even bigger things, just as Hoffman did. That group — dubbed the “PayPal Mafia” — included Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman, and YouTube co-founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen.

Now worth an estimated $2.6 billion, Hoffman has been at the forefront of the artificial intelligence craze while investing in trailblazing startups such as ChatGPT maker OpenAI and Inflection. Unlike other prominent technologists who are worried about AI destroying humanity, Hoffman has co-written a new book called “Superagency” that makes an optimistic case for AI. He recently talked with The Associated Press.

Q: Are humans creating something smarter than themselves with AI?

A: You already have some version of superintelligence right now. Obviously, we will be increasing that superintelligence, so we need to be thinking about which ways it’s going to be making great additions and which ways it’s going to make things more challenging.

Humans are generally bad at transitions, and that is part of the reason for writing books like “Superagency,” to try to say there are some positive design principles, some positive outcomes that we should be trying to work our way toward.

Q: Do you think there is a chance that these superintelligent AI agents eventually may seem omniscient?

A: AI agents are pretty useful for coaching and advising. Like if you were to say, “Hey, how should I approach this thorny problem?” An AI agent can be a pretty good advice-giving coach. And so you can imagine it being a useful tutor across a wide variety of subjects, including even spiritual or counseling or mental ones. And I think that could be positive for the evolution of humanity, having something talking to us that is infinitely patient and is trying to help us get to our better selves. So, yes, you could have a “Consult the Oracle” situation with AI agents.

Q: What’s the risk of some people embracing AI as a bosom buddy and becoming more socially isolated?

A: Some of that will happen for sure, the same way some people isolated themselves with TV or the internet. Part of this will be about the design focus. If you go to Inflection’s AI agent, Pi, and say, “Hey you’re my best friend,” Pi, will say, “No, I am your AI companion, let’s talk about your friendships. Have you seen any of your friends recently or want to see them?” We want AI agents being softly and gently encouraging, to be tied into the human circumstance, which I think is what most people really want.

Q: On the flip side, as these AI agents become more human-like, could that get people more in touch with their own humanity?

A: Our humanity is expressed in how we incorporate technology in our lives, just as we are communicating through Zoom for this interview. I think that is part of our humanity.

Q: Switching topics, are you worried about President Trump retaliating against you for being one of Kamala Harris’ biggest supporters in Silicon Valley leading up to last year’s election?

2024 obviously was a very intense year and what I am trying not to do is speculate too much about that because in 2025 I am going to really focus on how I build and fund really interesting AI companies and other areas that help build industries that make a difference. My obvious hope is that the incoming administration will turn to a positive agenda. I kind of feel at this point that speculation is not really helpful. We will see in a couple of months how it’s all going to play out.

Q: Were you surprised by how much support President Trump got from other technology billionaires like Elon Musk and Marc Andreessen?

A: It wasn’t surprising that the people who were very intensely pro-cryptocurrency were pro-Trump because the Biden administration was so negative on crypto. Also the fact that the Biden administration — unlike the Obama administration — was not putting in a lot of energy into saying, “Hey we think that new technology and new technology companies of the future are really important.” And I think a bunch of the Biden administration staff was somewhat negative on large, tech companies.

What did surprise me — and now I am very much hoping they are right — is that they thought the Trump administration would be very strongly and thoughtfully pro business across the arena. Let’s see what happens with tariffs, let’s hope that it doesn’t play out in a particularly challenging way.

A: Do you think your old PayPal colleagues Peter Thiel and Elon Musk are playing a form of political chess?

The thing that is so important about Silicon Valley is the broadly held belief — even if it’s manifested differently in Peter versus me or other people, — is that the creation of new technology companies is how progress is made. And I think it’s an important mission for the country and the world as well as Silicon Valley. The degree to which they are playing chess around that, I don’t know. But I think they are driven on that mission and part of what they are doing is trying to make sure that mission is fully realized in the Trump administration.

Q: Do you agree with Trump’s supporters in Silicon Valley that it’s time to ease up on the rigorous regulation of tech that we had during President Biden’s administration?

A: I do. I hope there will be much more enablement of technology innovation.

Q: Going back to your book, what do you say about AI pioneers like Nobel Prize winner Geoffrey Hinton who now see the technology as a threat to humanity?

A: I tend to rate a lot of risks based on how does it compare to my risk to driving to the airport because every time you get in a car and drive to the airport, the highest risk of the journey is on the drive and not on the plane. If the risk is in the automobile-level of percentage, then I don’t worry about it that much. And, if you say, “Well this is much bigger, this could be an existential human risk.” Then I say, “Well, yeah, that’s part of the reason you put more energy into being protective in navigating and steering it.”

LinkedIn Founder Reid Hoffman recently shared his optimistic views on the future of artificial intelligence (AI) and expressed hope that his fellow tech industry leaders are right about President Donald Trump.

In a recent interview, Hoffman discussed the potential of AI to revolutionize industries and improve efficiency in various sectors. He emphasized the importance of ethical AI development and the need for responsible implementation of this technology.

Additionally, Hoffman expressed hope that his tech peers are correct in their assessment of President Trump and his administration. Many tech leaders have been critical of Trump’s policies and rhetoric, particularly on issues such as immigration and climate change. However, some have also expressed optimism about the potential for collaboration with the government on areas of mutual interest, such as infrastructure and job creation.

Hoffman’s positive outlook on both AI and the potential for cooperation with the Trump administration reflects his belief in the power of technology to drive positive change. As a prominent figure in the tech industry, his perspectives carry weight and influence, and his optimism is a hopeful sign for the future of innovation and progress.

  • Valley sees sporadic rain, Winter Weather Advisory continues in northern Arizona

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A storm system, cut off from the main storm track, continues to spin over southern California without much forward movement.

It’s the system that brought some showers to the northern and western parts of the Valley earlier today. Surprise got .20″ of an inch of rain, Anthem and Cave Creek got .16″ of an inch.

No, Phoenix Sky Harbor did not get any rain, so we’re now at day 158 without measurable rain at the airport, two days shy of tying the all-time dry spell.

With the low-pressure system slowly moving toward Arizona, and drying out, we’re going to see a reduction in rain chances for the Valley tonight and Tuesday. On the back side of the storm, there is a chance for a brief, convective period of rain that could impact that Valley, but that chance is 20% or less. And as we’ve been saying about this storm, don’t expect significant rainfall amounts.

The Winter Weather Advisory continues in northern and northwestern Arizona above 5,000 feet until midnight tonight. Two to four inches of snow is possible around Flagstaff.

We have a report from Sedona of an inch of rain. And we could see snow tonight in Prescott and along parts of the Mogollon Rim.

Temperatures are dropping. We expect highs in the Valley to struggle to get into the low-60s the next couple of days.

Valley sees sporadic rain, Winter Weather Advisory continues in northern Arizona

As the Valley of the Sun experiences sporadic rain showers, northern Arizona continues to be under a Winter Weather Advisory. The National Weather Service has issued the advisory for areas above 6,000 feet in elevation, warning of snowfall and icy conditions.

Drivers in the high country are urged to use caution while traveling, as slick roads and reduced visibility may pose a hazard. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather conditions and to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this wintry weather.

In the Valley, the rain showers are providing a welcome relief from the dry conditions, but residents are advised to be cautious on wet roads and sidewalks. Remember to drive slowly, leave extra space between vehicles, and watch for pedestrians.

Stay tuned to local weather updates for the latest information on the Winter Weather Advisory and any potential impacts on your area. Stay safe and stay warm!

  • Netflix’s no.1 movie sees much-loved star return after 10 year absence

If it isn’t Cameron Diaz, back in the spotlight, championing Netflix’s latest number one movie – Back In Action – which has flown up the charts since its 17 January release date. She stars alongside Jamie Foxx in an A-list production that Netflix produced with a $70 million budget.

What’s particularly interesting, however, is that Diaz has been absent from our screens for over a decade. Her previous movie, Annie, was released back in 2014 – and not to a particularly warm reception. But Diaz is now well and truly back in the game, with Outcome in post-production for a future release, and she’ll reprise her role in Shrek 5 for 2026 too according to IMDB!

Back In Action isn’t referring to Diaz’s Hollywood hiatus so much as its own storyline though: Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx) are former CIA spies, thrown back into a world of espionage as their identities are exposed. That proves a big problem for the fact that their young kids – Alice (McKenna Roberts) and Leo (Rylan Jackson) – are also on the scene and need to be protected.

While Netflix often proves itself among the best streaming services, putting its hand to creating all manner of movies and shows, Back In Action may have proved popular so far – but the ratings are abysmal. The Rotten Tomatoes critics’ score is a mere 23%, but viewers are riding the action-comedy fun wave with more enjoyment – scoring it 64% on average (at the time of writing).

The reviews are very mixed, to say the least, though. One laments “Acting looks like a C grade home made movie,” supported by another’s comment that “Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz should just retire already”. Others disagree, though, calling Jamie and Cameron “amazing”. Those movies where viewers can’t agree are sometimes quiet winners.

Back In Action is directed by Seth Gordon, known for Horrible Bosses and Baywatch, so if those movies have captured your interest in the recent past then it’s worth giving Diaz and Foxx a shot – and just strapping in for the ride. Don’t expect anything out of the ordinary or groundbreaking here, but sometimes that’s just what the doctor ordered. And it’s great to see Diaz back on screen.

  • Iowa sees big lead slip away in loss to Oregon

Iowa women’s basketball saw a double-digit lead disappear in a 50-49 loss to Oregon on Sunday afternoon. The loss marks the fifth straight in the team’s current losing streak and is the first five-game losing streak since 2013. With the loss, Iowa drops to 12-7 overall on the season and are now just 2-6 in conference play. Iowa came out of the gate hot against the Ducks, taking a 10-0 lead to start the game. They led by as many as 15 and led by 13 in the third quarter but saw the lead slip away when the offense went cold. Iowa scored just 17 points in the second half. Sydney Affolter and Addi O’Grady led the Hawkeyes in scoring with 10 points each. Iowa will remain in the Pacific Northwest for one more game when they face Washington on Jan. 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Peacock.

The Iowa Hawkeyes had a strong start in their matchup against the Oregon Ducks, building a big lead early in the game. However, they were unable to maintain their momentum as Oregon staged a remarkable comeback to secure the victory.

Despite their best efforts, Iowa’s defense struggled to contain Oregon’s offense, allowing them to chip away at the lead and ultimately take control of the game. The Hawkeyes fought hard until the final buzzer, but it was not enough to overcome the Ducks’ dominant performance.

This loss serves as a learning opportunity for Iowa, highlighting areas where they need to improve in order to compete at a high level. With a resilient mindset and a commitment to growth, the Hawkeyes have the potential to bounce back from this setback and continue their pursuit of success in the season ahead.
