Shannon Sharpe rips Troy Aikman over officiating complaints
Shannon Sharpe doesn’t want to hear Troy Aikman’s newfound concerns about NFL officiating.
The ex-Dallas Cowboys quarterback and Monday Night Football analyst is thriving in his give no f*cks era, writes Awful Announcing’s Sean Keeley. That means calling it as he sees it from ESPN’s broadcast booth, and if that involves criticizing the league and its officials — so be it.
Aikman made an appearance on the SI Media with Jimmy Traina Podcast and had some choice words for the state of officiating. And while he lamented the “tough job” these officials have to do and the “scrutiny that they’re under,” he urged the NFL to fix a longstanding issue in the face of gambling partnerships.
“Here you are promoting gambling, people are gambling more than they ever have before and those types of calls – there’s a lot at stake regardless – but especially when you’re considering there’s a lot of money that’s changing hands with these calls as well, I think that we owe it to the fans that we get it right and I think we’re at a point in time where we can. We can get it more right. So that was really my position in just trying to lean on the NFL and say, ‘Hey, we gotta fix this. We gotta address it in the offseason.’”
That sentiment didn’t sit well with Sharpe, who rolled his eyes at Aikman’s comments during his Nightcap show with Chad Johnson.
“Now, all of a sudden, Troy wants the refs to be perfect,” said an exasperated Sharpe. “…Since he’s away from the game — make the refs be perfect. Troy, were they perfect when you played? Bro, y’all need to stop. ‘There’s a lot of money that’s changing hands with these calls. I think that we owe it to the fans that we get it right, and I think we’re at a point in time where we can.’ So, we gonna get every call right?”
Sharpe’s bigger issue? The games are already long enough.
“I don’t want no four-hour game(s),” he told his cohost. “So, you want to stop and make everything reviewable? How long you think the game’s gonna last? Think about when they challenge something. Think about when you challenge something how long it take ’em. They go to commercial. They’re going to get at least three commercials off.”
The former Denver Broncos and Baltimore tight end wasn’t finished there.
He proceeded to call out Aikman and other former players for acting like officiating wasn’t just as flawed in their era.
“But if we think for one second that every official in every sport is going to get every call right, you’re delusional,” Sharpe says. “And guys, athletes that have played the game, they’re delusional, ’cause now they’re pandering. Troy knows damn well people gambled on the game when he played. They didn’t get every call right. It’s impossible… There’s no such thing as ‘Guess what? We got every call right in the game.’”
Sharpe pointed out that even in well-officiated games, the league later acknowledges missed holding, tripping or facemask penalties were potentially missed.
It happens — officiating has always been flawed.
“You know what it is?” he asked. “Now, Josh Allen, their fan-favorite, didn’t get to go [to the Super Bowl]; Patrick Mahomes [is] going again. Now it’s an issue…”
But Sharpe feels the outrage only seems to spike when the NFL’s golden boy doesn’t get his shot. And as far as Sharpe’s concerned, the sudden concern over officiating feels less like a real crusade and more like convenient outrage.
“I just hate this pandering. I hate this pity party for Josh Allen,” Sharpe later added.
But to Aikman’s credit, this isn’t new. Since moving from Fox to the Worldwide Leader, he’s been more outspoken than ever about the ongoing lapses in officiating.
Regardless, Sharpe thinks his latest comments are a bit “delusional.”
Former NFL tight end and current sports analyst Shannon Sharpe did not hold back in his criticism of Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman after Aikman complained about the officiating during a recent NFL game.In a fiery segment on his show, Sharpe ripped into Aikman, accusing him of being a sore loser and unable to accept responsibility for his team’s shortcomings. Sharpe called Aikman out for always blaming the referees when things don’t go his way, instead of taking ownership of his own mistakes.
Sharpe went on to say that Aikman’s constant whining about officiating is unprofessional and sets a bad example for younger players and fans. He argued that Aikman should know better, given his years of experience in the league, and should be able to handle losses with grace and dignity.
Overall, Sharpe’s comments were scathing and pulled no punches, making it clear that he has little patience for Aikman’s complaints about officiating. It remains to be seen how Aikman will respond to Sharpe’s criticism, but one thing is for sure: Sharpe is not one to shy away from speaking his mind.

Lil Yachty recently opened up on his previous relationship with Mariah the Scientist while speaking on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast Club Shay Shay on January 29. Notably, Mariah the Scientist said on Caresha Please last year that they began dating during their college years and first met each other in high school.
During his latest interview on Club Shay Shay, Lil said that he has a lot of love and respect for her and added:
“I was a sh*t person to her. She was really great. So great, so I get it. She was a great person though, man.”
Referring to Mariah the Scientist’s interview about their relationship, he additionally mentioned:
“That’s the first time she ever spoke on us, ever, publicly. I honestly think she was pretty respectful. She didn’t sh*t on me, you know? I know what you’re talking about, but I brought it upon myself. She ain’t tell no lies.”
Mariah is currently in a relationship with Young Thug and the duo reportedly began dating in 2021, as stated by Capital Xtra. The pair were seen together on different occasions, including an NBA game and the dating rumors went viral specifically after they were featured in the music video of Mariah’s single Walked In.
Mariah the Scientist confirmed last year that she had dated Lil Yachty
As mentioned, the 27-year-old singer and songwriter appeared in a conversation on Caresha Please in October 2024. She stated that she and Lil Yachty began dating when she entered college and described herself a “broke college student” at the time.
“I made him two different songs and I put them on a iPod, I gifted it to him. I signed the back, it was real cute.”
Mariah revealed how Lil reacted to her action at the time, saying that he was not willing to listen to the songs. While Lil said in his new interview that he was not a good person to Mariah at the time when they were dating, he said that he does not recall if he ever apologized to Mariah about it. He claimed that he does not remember for how long they were together and added:
“Our relationship is such a long span, you know? Since high school, so it’s long and blurry. YOLO, bro. Shout out to her.”
The reports of Mariah the Scientist and Lil Yachty’s romance emerged in 2023 when a social media user reshared a picture of the former on X (formerly Twitter), alleging that she joined a school to become an anesthesiologist and dropped out because of Lil.
According to Hip Hop DX, Mariah had received a biology scholarship at St. John’s University and after pursuing the same for a brief period, she dropped out to establish herself in the music industry.
While the tweet went viral, Lil Yachty replied with a post, questioning why everyone was trying to link him with Mariah. He further stated:
“I been [quiet] for so long but plz stop making up his weird a*s false narrative. & me and Mariah wasn’t dating at the time…… again!!!! Only time ima say this. Leave me out of it!”
Lil Yachty’s latest interview is trending on all platforms and Mariah the Scientist is yet to share a response to everything he said during the conversation.

#David #School #Hardcover #Shannon #David #GOOD,ages 3+Browns NFL draft: Shannon Sharpe shares what Deion thinks about Shedeur Sanders in Cleveland
“We coming!” The now famous line from Colorado Buffalos HC Deion Sanders has been true at the college level but the question remains whether it will continue in the NFL. The elder Sanders has been talking with the Dallas Cowboys about their head coaching position and was rumored to be interested in the Las Vegas Raiders job as well.
Outside of being a head coach, Deion has another important job: Father of one of the two top quarterback prospects that the Cleveland Browns could have interest in this year’s NFL draft, Shedeur Sanders.
There has been scuttle that Deion could impact where his son is drafted, ala Eli Manning’s father. Whether it is the Tennessee Titans, Browns or another team that either plays in the cold weather or isn’t in a big-name city, organizations will want clarity about what they are dealing with if they draft Sanders.
A good father wants what is best for their kid but Deion has a unique position, and potentially leverage, to actually have some control or influence for Shedeur.
According to Deion’s friend Shannon Sharpe, the elder Sanders is not going to allow Shedeur to come to Cleveland:
Obviously, Sharpe is not speaking from direct knowledge or is not saying it as if he is. He doesn’t “think” Deion will allow it while Chad Ochocinco agrees and references the Manning situation way back in 2004.
First and foremost, the Browns need to evaluate the talent of the draft class before it matters what Deion might want. Then, if Cleveland GM Andrew Berry and HC Kevin Stefanski, who is running the QB search, decide Sanders is the right fit, the Titans have to pass on him. Finally, the Browns would then have to make a decision based on what they have heard, either directly or indirectly from Shedeur’s camp, on whether to select the Colorado QB.
Do you think Deion’s opinion on where Shedeur plays (or Shedeur’s desired location) should influence the Browns (or Titans) decision in the upcoming NFL draft?
The Cleveland Browns are gearing up for the NFL draft and speculation is running rampant about who they will select with their first-round pick. One player who has caught the eye of NFL legend Deion Sanders is Shedeur Sanders, son of the Hall of Famer himself. In a recent interview with Shannon Sharpe, Deion shared his thoughts on the possibility of Shedeur landing in Cleveland and what he believes the young quarterback could bring to the Browns.
According to Deion, Shedeur has all the tools to succeed in the NFL and he believes that Cleveland would be the perfect landing spot for him. With his strong arm, quick decision-making skills, and natural athleticism, Deion sees Shedeur as a potential franchise quarterback for the Browns.
While nothing is set in stone until draft day, it’s clear that Deion has high hopes for his son’s future in the NFL and believes that Cleveland could be the ideal place for him to start his career.
As the draft approaches, all eyes will be on the Browns and whether or not they will take a chance on Shedeur Sanders. Only time will tell if Deion’s prediction will come true, but one thing is for sure – the NFL draft is always full of surprises. Stay tuned for more updates as the draft draws near.
