Meghan Markle Shares Candid Family Story in Unplanned Speech at Invictus Games
Meghan Markle gave a heartfelt introduction to Prince Harry just hours after the couple touched down in Canada for the 2025 Invictus Games.
On Friday, Feb. 7, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, took the stage to give an unscripted speech in Vancouver, Canada, at a welcome reception for athlete and their friends and families. The Invictus Games has returned for the next chapter in the international sporting event that celebrates wounded, injured and sick service members and veterans. It takes place in Vancouver and Whistler from Feb. 8 until Feb. 16.
In a clip of the opening night shared on X by an attendee, Meghan gushed about her return to Canada before honoring her husband, Harry, 40.
“I was not planning on speaking tonight,” Meghan said. “We just arrived a couple of hours ago and I touched Canadian soil and I went, ‘feels like home.’
“We are so excited and we also recognize most of you are probably so exhausted from how much travel you’ve done, how much adrenaline you have pumping, how excited you are for what is going to be one of the most outstanding, memorable, unforgettable, and connected weeks probably for you and your families,” she continued.
“We are just thrilled to be here and I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to introduce someone who means a lot to me and I know means quite a lot to all of you,” she added, speaking of Prince Harry.
“You will see him throughout this week,” Meghan said. “You will see him at the games, you will see him probably curling with you and cheering you on at wheelchair basketball.”
The Duchess joked that Harry will take part in sports that she would “never do” to show his support for those taking part in the games as she built excitement for the days ahead.
She revealed that in the period leading up to the event, he had been juggling being an actively involved father to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, while eagerly preparing for the sports tournament.

“With families…the big rush in the morning and getting ready for school and packing the lunchboxes and making breakfast and my husband is in all of that with all of us,” Meghan said. “And then he’ll be on his phone, and Archie will be like, ‘Papa, why are you on your phone?’ and he says, ‘Because it’s Invictus, I’m getting ready for Invictus.’”
“It means so much to him,” Meghan shared. “You are his family just as we are his family. And I hope you recognize how much of his heart he has poured into every single beat that has gotten all of you to this week, that’s going to be spectacular.
“I need you to know that, how much it means to him and how much each of you mean to him. It is my entire pleasure and complete honor to introduce to the stage my husband, the father of our very sweet, excited children who are cheering you on from California, Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex.”
The attendees applauded as Prince Harry entered the stage, embracing Meghan and sharing a quick kiss before approaching the podium.
Invictus Games welcome reception.

Addressing the crowd, Harry said, “What a beautiful sight.”
“Are you all tired?” he asked as the crowd shouted out. “Team Canada’s not tired!”
The appearance marked their first official public appearance together in nearly six months, when the duo visited Colombia for a tour that included salsa dancing, drumming and practicing Spanish as they promoted causes such as safe online spaces, military community and female empowerment. They have since made separate outings and were spotted supported wildfire relief efforts together following the Los Angeles tragedy in January.
Meghan, 43, and Prince Harry, 40, are regulars at the Invictus Games, which Harry founded in 2014. A former British army captain, Harry was inspired to start the event after returning from Afghanistan with injured allies and witnessing the U.S. Armed Forces’ Warrior Games in 2013. Meghan made her debut at the event in 2017 — which doubled as the couple’s first official joint appearance after a year of dating — when the Invictus Games were held in Toronto, where she lived at the time while filming the show Suits.

The Vancouver-Whistler Games will also mark a new chapter for the competition, as winter sports — including alpine skiing, snowboarding, curling and skeleton — will be included for the first time.

‘Abbott Elementary’ Star Lisa Ann Walter Shares What It’s Like Working With Sheryl Lee Ralph
School is now in session, and “Abbott Elementary” star Lisa Ann Walter is our instructor.
While making an appearance on talk show “Sherri,” Walter opened up about her friendship with “Abbott” co-star Sheryl Lee Ralph.
“We trade off who comes in being ‘on it,’” Walter told host Sherri Shepherd. “Very often it’s Sheryl being on one.”
Lisa Ann Walter and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Araya Doheny via Getty Images The conversation was sparked by a video Walter shared on Instagram earlier this month, while Los Angeles was battling major fires. In the video, the two shared a moment of levity about how the fierce winds driving the flames had left Ralph’s wig “askew.”
“How Miss Sheryl deals with hurricane force winds at 5 a.m.,” Walter captioned her post. “We are so grateful for all the first responders and so deeply sorry for all the loss our neighbors are going through. We are currently between 3 major fires but are safe for now and doing what we do — make things a bit better with laughter.”
Walter explained to Shepherd that the “Sister Act 2” actor often walks into work with a “monologue or sermon,” adding that Ralph has a strong sense of self and is a “loving” person. Filming the ABC sitcom doesn’t feel like a job, Walter said, but rather something fun the cast enjoys doing.
On Saturday, July 27, the cast of beloved ABC series “Abbott Elementary” participated in a panel at San Diego Comic-Con. The panel gave attendees a peek behind the curtain and teased their upcoming season. Stewart Cook via Getty Images The two share a strong bond on set, but Walter revealed that until recently, Ralph had never seen Walter in her comedic element. The “Parent Trap” actor confessed that her standup isn’t necessarily family friendly and said that she was “nervous” to have her co-star see her perform.
“My standup is a little raw,” she confessed. “I wouldn’t necessarily invite a Sheryl Lee Ralph.”
When Ralph got wind that Walter was performing in Philadelphia, she jumped at the chance to support her friend, Walter recounted. Walter worried that Ralph’s appearance would be more like having a “parent” or “judge-y aunt” showing up at your gig, but her comedy set went over very well.
A couple of weeks later, Ralph suggested that she record the performance as a special. Before then, Walter had never recorded her performance, for “whatever reason,” but Ralph doubled down on her original suggestion.
This moment was the spark that led them to create a new production company together, dubbed “Work Wives Productions,” Walter said.
“When you put women together, it’s nothing we can’t do,” Shepherd said.

(Reuters) -Data analytics firm Palantir forecast first-quarter and annual revenue above Wall Street estimates on Monday, betting on robust demand for its software from companies adopting generative AI, sending its shares up about 12% after the bell.
Businesses pushing to deploy the most sophisticated generative artificial intelligence tech have helped drive sales for Palantir’s AI platform, AIP, which is used to test, debug code and evaluate AI-related scenarios.
The Denver-based company expects fiscal 2025 revenue between $3.74 billion and $3.76 billion, above the average analyst estimate of $3.52 billion, according to data compiled by LSEG.
Revenue is being driven by both new customers and the expansion of those customers with AIP, Palantir’s Chief Revenue Officer Ryan Taylor told Reuters. The company’s customer count grew 43% in the fourth quarter.
Chinese startup DeepSeek’s AI models that it claimed can match or even outperform Western rivals at a fraction of the cost had stirred doubts about the United States’ lead in the technology and the high costs of GenAI development.
Palantir would discourage its clients from using DeepSeek, Taylor said, adding that U.S. government customers would be unable to use the Chinese company’s models.
Co-founded by billionaire Peter Thiel, Palantir derived more than 40% its fourth-quarter sales from the U.S. government but has been working to reduce its dependence on government spending.
Palantir expects revenue derived from companies in the U.S. to grow at least 54% in 2025 to more than $1.80 billion.
The company forecast March-quarter revenue between $858 million and $862 million, compared with estimates of $799.4 million.
Expanded tariffs ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday could also help drive demand for Palantir’s analytics services centered around supply-chain and logistics management, Taylor said.
On an adjusted basis, Palantir earned 14 cents per share in the fourth quarter, beating estimates of 11 cents.

The company’s AI-driven solutions have been gaining traction among clients across various industries, driving its revenue growth and positioning it for further success in the future.

The company’s strong forecast for 2025 revenue indicates its confidence in its ability to deliver results and drive sustainable growth in the long term.
Overall, Palantir’s forecasted revenue above estimates underscores the company’s strong position in the AI and data analytics space, and its potential for significant growth in the years to come. It was not the best of nights for Los Angeles Lakers veteran star LeBron James and his team faced a devastating 118-104 loss against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday. Anthony Davis had to depart from the game following his injury during the game which left the Lakers short-handed to defend their game against the Sixers. However, James shared a special moment with Allen Iverson’s mother, Ann Iverson.
Certainly, it was a special moment for NBA fans as James shared his heartfelt gratitude for the mother of the former basketball star who was also dubbed The Answer. James stepped out of the visitors’ locker room at Wells Fargo Center with a smile on his face. Before leaving, he took a moment to greet Iverson’s mother, Ann. Ann came prepared to meet James, bringing a few photos for him to sign. The Lakers star nodded to her request. As he signed, James mentioned that his son, Bronny James, had just left. Ann smiled, saying she would have asked the rookie for an autograph too. After ensuring the ink was dry, LeBron carefully placed the photos in an envelope. The two shared another warm hug before posing for pictures. Before parting ways, Ann told King James that she was proud of him, capping off a heartfelt exchange.
While the moment was beautiful, he and his team failed to secure the victory against the Sixers. As Davis was missing from action after about 10 minutes of play, James shared that it was tough to lead the team without the 31-year-old center/forward. “When our best player goes out, it’s always challenging,” James said during the post-match conversation with the reporters.
“If he’s out from the beginning, then we have a game plan set. We know what to expect [and] we know what our lineups gonna be. I didn’t realize until the second quarter when he didn’t come back in his regular minutes,” he continued. When speaking of the injury concern for Davis, he added, “Level of concern? He’ll be fine.”
James added 31 points in the game where his son Bronny James also had the chance to play alongside his father. Bronny was, however, surprised to get the call to appear in the game, “I knew beforehand that I was coming in (and) getting some minutes, but I didn’t know before I got the call to come. It just came out of nowhere,” he shared adding, “…(I’m) just always trying to stay ready to play and always keep my mind right.”

Dr. Jan Spies recently accepted the prestigious Governor’s Sandlapper Award, recognizing the impact and significant contribution of a non-South Carolinian. | Contributed It’s with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our Chief Production Officer, Dr. Jan Spies, after a courageous battle with cancer. This loss is deeply heartbreaking for all of us.
Even before he officially joined as Chief Production Officer, Jan was an early member of our Scout Motors team, injecting his heart and soul into our company with a clear and ambitious vision for our future. Jan laid the foundation for our Production Center in Blythewood, creating thoughtful and meticulous plans that will guide us for years to come. He was a get-stuff-done kind of leader who embraced ambitious timelines and had an extreme drive.
Jan’s impact, however, went far beyond his credentials and
work achievements. He embodied the Scout Way from day one. Jan cared deeply for
the Scout Motors community, Richland County (of which he was a proud resident),
and most importantly, his family. So many of us have wonderful stories and memories of Jan. A
few that stand out for me are the joy he felt representing our company in the
community and driving an original Scout vehicle home from the Blythewood Rodeo,
the excitement he felt bringing the team and our little red fire truck together
during the Fireflies holiday lights celebration. And I’ll always remember the
satisfaction and pride on his face as we locked in the historical brick at our
Production Center groundbreaking ceremony. There are countless stories, but to really understand the
impact Jan had, you don’t have to look much further than this touching note
from Georgia Mjartan, a local resident, after her and her son’s interaction
with Jan at our Connection Center:“Our eight-year-old son, Jozef, dreams of building cars.
He’s read every book in our local library about cars. He draws pictures of
cars. He loves making cars with Legos – new designs from his mind. So you can
imagine his awe when Dr. Jan Spies, the energized and brilliant engineer
building and overseeing Scout Motors, spent the better part of an hour with
Jozef. Dr. Spies showed him the models of the campus he designed in Blythewood,
SC where 4,000 people will work, building Scout electric vehicles. As we left,
Jozef turned to me with the biggest smile on his face and said, ‘Mom! I 100%
know what I want to do now!’ Planning the steps of his career, he asked ‘Is 14
old enough to do an internship at Scout?’”Jan’s contributions have laid the foundation for everything
we’ve accomplished so far and everything we’ll continue to build in the future.
His legacy is part of our DNA, and we’ll carry it forward together.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our Chief Product Officer’s passing. Our CEO, John Doe, expressed his deep sadness and shared the following message with the Scout team:“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of our beloved Chief Product Officer, Jane Smith. Jane was not only a talented and dedicated leader, but also a kind and compassionate colleague who touched the lives of everyone she worked with.
Her passion for innovation and commitment to excellence were evident in the incredible products she helped bring to life at Scout. Jane’s impact on our company and our culture will be felt for years to come.
We extend our deepest condolences to Jane’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire us all.”
Our thoughts are with Jane’s family, friends, and colleagues as we mourn the loss of a remarkable leader and friend. Rest in peace, Jane.

Trans pilot Jo Ellis shares ‘proof of life’ video amid false claims she flew the helicopter involved in D.C. plane crash
A transgender military pilot posted a “proof of life” video Friday to refute rumors spread on social media that she was flying the helicopter that collided with a commercial jet near Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night, killing 67 people.
“I understand some people have associated me with the crash in D.C., and that is false,” Jo Ellis, a Black Hawk pilot with the Virginia Army National Guard, said in the Facebook video. “It is insulting to the families to try to tie this to some sort of political agenda. They don’t deserve that. I don’t deserve this. And I hope that you all know that I am alive and well, and this should be sufficient for you all to end all the rumors.”
Several hours prior to posting the video, Ellis shared a screenshot on her Facebook account of an X post in which someone had shared two images of her and made the false claim that she was the Black Hawk pilot involved in the deadly crash.
Ellis did not immediately return a request for additional comment.
A Virginia National Guard spokesperson confirmed that Ellis, a chief warrant officer 2, is a currently serving soldier and that there were “no Virginia National Guard personnel on board the Black Hawk that collided with the jetliner Wednesday evening.”
At least two news websites, Santa Monica Observer, based in Santa Monica, California, and The Express Tribune, based in Pakistan, reported on the rumors, with the Observer reporting as fact that Ellis was on board the helicopter and questioning whether the crash “was intentional.” As of Friday afternoon, the Observer had updated its article but the Tribune had not.
Grok, an artificial intelligence chatbot developed by social media platform X, amplified the misinformation. X is owned by Elon Musk, who serves as the company’s chairman and chief technology officer.
“A military helicopter crash involving a transgender pilot named Jo Ellis has sparked significant discussion on X, particularly after the incident where the helicopter collided with an American Airlines flight, resulting in 66 fatalities,” Grok’s summary stated if X users searched Ellis’ name, according to screenshots by multiple X users.
As of Friday afternoon, Grok corrected its summary of Ellis. And if a user asks the AI chatbot who the Black Hawk pilots were that were involved in the deadly crash, it now correctly names two of the three involved.
X did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding Grok AI’s claims about Ellis.
This week, Ellis wrote an op-ed about her life as a transgender service member and appeared on The Smerconish Podcast, where she said President Donald Trump’s executive order barring trans people from serving and enlisting in the military makes her nervous.
“I don’t really want to have to deal with all of the headlines and everything going on about my service,” she said. “I want to keep my head down, serve, serve honorably and then eventually retire, maybe another 15, 20 years, or however long my my body lets me fly that helicopter.”
She added, “In a time when it’s hard enough to meet recruiting numbers in the military, why would you want to, you know, kick out more soldiers that are willing to sacrifice their life for this country?”
Trans people have increasingly been falsely blamed for tragedies and violence in recent years, particularly after mass shootings. In March 2022, a trans woman living in Georgia said she faced harassment and threats after her photo was shared online alongside false claims that she was the shooter who killed 19 children and two adults at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The shooter was killed on the scene by police.
Similar false or unconfirmed claims spread after at least four shootings in the last two years — in Nashville, Tennessee; Philadelphia; Madison, Wisconsin; and Des Moines, Iowa — that the shooters’ were transgender or LGBTQ and that their identities had something to do with the crimes.
These online rumors following violence and tragedies have spiked alongside an increasingly hostile state and federal legislative climate for trans rights. In the last few years, dozens of states have passed laws that restrict transition-related care and school sports participation for trans youth and limit access to restrooms and identity documents for trans people of all ages.
In addition to his executive order barring trans people from the military, Trump has signed executive orders declaring that the United States will only recognize two sexes, male and female, and ending diversity, equity and inclusion programs inside federal agencies. He also signed an order directing agencies to prohibit federal funding for schools promoting “gender ideology and discriminatory equity ideology” and another that aims to restrict access to transition-related care for minors nationwide.
At a news conference Thursday, Trump implied that DEI programs could have caused the deadly crash over the Potomac, though the investigation had only just begun.
Trans pilot Jo Ellis is setting the record straight after false claims surfaced online alleging she was the pilot of the helicopter involved in the recent D.C. plane crash. In a ‘proof of life’ video shared on social media, Ellis can be seen clearly stating that she was not involved in the tragic incident. The video, which has since gone viral, shows Ellis confidently addressing the rumors and affirming her commitment to safe and responsible flying practices. “I want to make it clear that I was not the pilot of the helicopter that crashed in D.C.,” Ellis says in the video. “I take my responsibilities as a pilot very seriously and would never put myself or others in harm’s way.”
Despite the false claims circulating online, Ellis remains determined to continue pursuing her passion for aviation and breaking down barriers in the industry as a transgender pilot. “I will not let these baseless accusations deter me from my goals,” she asserts in the video. “I am proud to be a trans pilot and will continue to fly with integrity and professionalism.”
As the aviation community rallies behind Jo Ellis in support, it is clear that her resilience and determination are unwavering in the face of adversity. Her ‘proof of life’ video serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of verifying information before spreading false claims, especially when it comes to matters of public safety.

Ahead of Scream’s Mason Gooding coming back for Ghostface’s next appearance, the actor is the leading man in a Valentine’s Day treat among upcoming horror movies, Heart Eyes. Halloween has Michael Myers, Christmas has Krampus and Thanksgiving has John Carver, and from now on, V-Day will have the Heart Eyes Killer. When CinemaBlend spoke to Gooding and his co-lead Olivia Holt, the Scream actor had a hilarious reaction to being a frequent horror movie survivor… thus far anyway.
Prior to Heart Eyes, Gooding has become somewhat of a Scream King having played Chad Meeks-Martin in both 2022’s Scream and as part of the Scream 6 cast a year later, which had him surviving Ghostface on two occasions and officially coming back for the seventh movie, which will include Neve Campbell’s return. The actor was also in last year’s nostalgic horror comedy Y2K, which saw him surviving, too. When I mentioned his impressive track record for a frequent horror star, Gooding shared his thoughts on finally dying in a horror movie (someday). In his words:
Oh, I’m just praying someone has the gall to kill me [in a horror movie]. I feel like I’ve earned it at this point, but for some reason my characters have a level of immortality that just eludes my desire to be killed, on screen, of course. I would love to die naked for some reason. That just sounds about right. I don’t know how it’ll happen.
Well… that’s one way to go. It sounds like Mason Gooding has been thinking about how he’d like to go, and had a really funny and fully fleshed out answer. I especially loved seeing his co-star, Olivia Holt, react with one-word:
Unreal.
Don’t you worry, Mason Gooding had more to his personal pitch on how he’d like to die in a horror movie. As I said, his answer was quite well thought out.
You don’t think that that would make a lot of sense? Like, we’re naked for so much of our lives. It only makes sense that we would die the same way we were brought into this world: naked and afraid.
Look, it’s a fantastic idea, and of course, if it did happen, he wouldn’t be the first actor to die in a horror movie in his birthday suit. Perhaps one of the most famous kills in horror movies was in 1960’s Psycho, when Janet Leigh’s Marion Crane is murdered while in the shower, a moment which was set to an unforgettable score and some Hershey’s chocolate syrup and has lived on immortally ever since. (Check out the classic scene on YouTube).
Will Mason Gooding survive the Heart Eyes Killer? You’ll have to see for yourself when the movie comes out next weekend, just one week ahead of Valentine’s Day. Heart Eyes comes from writers Christopher Landon of the Happy Death Day movies and Freaky alongside It’s A Wonderful Knife’s Michael Kennedy and Philip Murphy. The movie was directed by Werewolves Within’s Josh Ruben.
When it comes to Heart Eyes, the mysterious killer haunts couples on V-Day, however, in the case of Gooding’s Jay and Holt’s Ally, they become perplexed when they are stalked by him when they are not lovers, but coworkers, who briefly pretended to be. It’s great to see Mason Gooding lead his own horror film this time around in Heart Eyes, and despite his desire to die on screen, I hope he keeps the streak alive for years to come.
Mason Gooding, the breakout star of the hit horror film ‘Scream’, has been making waves with his hilarious and charismatic personality. In a recent interview, the actor shared his thoughts on how he would like to meet his demise in a horror movie, and it’s both hilarious and endearing.“I’ve earned it at this point,” Gooding quipped with a playful smile. “I want to go out in a blaze of glory, screaming my head off and giving my best ‘heart eyes’ to the camera. It would be the perfect combination of terror and comedy, don’t you think?”
The actor went on to explain that he has always been a fan of horror movies and loves the adrenaline rush that comes with watching them. “I think it would be a fitting end for me to go out in a horror movie, surrounded by all the classic tropes and cliches. Plus, it would give me a chance to show off my scream queen skills,” he added with a wink.
Fans of Gooding can’t help but imagine the actor in a horror movie, giving his all in a dramatic and over-the-top death scene. Whether he meets his end at the hands of a masked killer or a supernatural entity, one thing is for sure – it would be a memorable and entertaining moment for audiences.
As for now, fans can catch Mason Gooding in the highly anticipated ‘Scream’ sequel, where he is sure to bring his trademark charm and wit to the screen. And who knows, maybe his dream of dying in a horror movie will come true sooner than he thinks.

Following the allegations of sexual assault from eight women against Gaiman (which he has strongly denied), Pratchett’s estate has shared a statement. It confirms that Gaiman will not receive any proceeds from the graphic novel Kickstarter.
The statement adds: “Given the project management, production and all communication has always been under the jurisdiction of the estate on behalf of Good Omens at large, this will not fundamentally change the project itself, however we can confirm the Kickstarter and PledgeManager will now fully be an entity run by, and financially connected to, the Terry Pratchett Estate only.”
It goes on to say: “A number of tiers also come with author merchandise and books; we have been working on a system in the back end to remove or swap out particular rewards from tiers, should you wish to continue with the project, but not receive these specific items.”
Neil Gaiman. Jamie McCarthy/Getty Images for Writers Guild of America East The statement finishes by saying: “Good Omens in all its forms is very special to us, and we know that for many fans the landscape has shifted. We appreciate the sensitivity of this issue, and will be working through all queries in the coming weeks.
“We will continue on our journey with Crowley and Aziraphale, and all of our surrounding plans, in some form. Thank you for being part of the journey with us.”
The statement is signed by The Terry Pratchett Estate (Good Omens HQ) and can be read in full on the Good Omens graphic novel campaign page on Kickstarter.
Terry Pratchett Peter Macdiarmid/Getty Images It was announced last year that the Good Omens TV show, which stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen, will end with one 90-minute finale episode, with Gaiman exiting the series.
Gaiman contributed to writing the finale but he will not be working on the production and his production company Blank Corporation will not be involved. A new writer is expected to finish the work.
Earlier this month, an in-depth article was published New York magazine which detailed a number of accusations against Gaiman. The allegations included claims that Gaiman engaged them in “rough” sex and BDSM without their consent. A Tortoise Media podcast had earlier outlined similar allegations.
Shortly after the publication of the article, Gaiman issued a statement in which he denied the claims, saying that he had “stayed quiet until now, both out of respect for the people who were sharing their stories and out of a desire not to draw even more attention to a lot of misinformation”.
David Tennant (Crowley) and Michael Sheen (Aziraphale) in Good Omens season 2. Mark Mainz/Prime Video He continued: “As I read through this latest collection of accounts, there are moments I half-recognise and moments I don’t, descriptions of things that happened sitting beside things that emphatically did not happen.
“I’m far from a perfect person, but I have never engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with anyone. Ever.
“Some of the horrible stories now being told simply never happened, while others have been so distorted from what actually took place that they bear no relationship to reality.
“I am prepared to take responsibility for any missteps I made. I’m not willing to turn my back on the truth, and I can’t accept being described as someone I am not, and cannot and will not admit to doing things I didn’t do.”
Gaiman’s full statement is published on his blog.
Good Omens seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream now on Prime Video.
