  • Highlights! Former UFC Fighters Shine At BKFC On DAZN 4

Several former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighters won their Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) debuts.

A week after an insanely violent BKFC: Knuckle Mania 5 event, the biggest bare knuckle promotion traveled to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, for BKFC on DAZN 4: “Lane vs. VanCamp,” and it was another brutal card.

In the main event, former UFC Welterweight Cameron VanCamp got slept by The Ultimate Fighter veteran Julian Lane, aka “Let Me Bang, Bro.”

VanCamp was clearly winning the entire fight, and then, 45 seconds into the fourth round, Lane hit him with a right hand from hell.

    Check out the finish below:

In the co-main event, former Bellator Welterweight title challenger Brennan Ward continued his violent ways by knocking out BKFC veteran James Dennis in 43 seconds, shattering his nose in the process.

Three former UFC Heavyweight fighters also competed on the card.

Parker Porter destroyed fellow UFC alum Chase Gormley in his BKFC debut, knocking him down twice and then out in 44 seconds of the first round.

Yorgan De Castro also made his BKFC debut and did so in style as he battered Bobby Brents, causing a nasty hematoma that forced a doctor’s stoppage.

For everything about bare-knuckle boxing, click here.

This past weekend, Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship made its highly anticipated return to DAZN with BKFC On DAZN 4, and it did not disappoint. The event featured a number of former UFC fighters, who showcased their skills and proved that they are still forces to be reckoned with in the combat sports world.

One of the standout performances of the night came from former UFC fighter Hector Lombard, who scored a devastating knockout victory over Joe Riggs in the main event. Lombard showed off his power and precision striking, earning himself a well-deserved win and solidifying his status as a top contender in the BKFC middleweight division.

Another former UFC fighter who impressed at BKFC On DAZN 4 was Jim Alers, who defeated Kaleb Harris in a thrilling back-and-forth bout. Alers displayed his toughness and heart as he battled his way to a hard-fought victory, further establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in the BKFC featherweight division.

Overall, BKFC On DAZN 4 was a night filled with exciting fights and impressive performances from former UFC fighters. It was a reminder that these athletes may have moved on from the octagon, but they are still capable of putting on a show and delivering memorable moments in the squared circle.

  • Sterling fails to shine as Arsenal’s Champions League draw looms

Sterling fails to shine as Arsenal’s Champions League draw looms

Here’s Ian Mills with his latest Three Things We Learned after Arsenal’s Champions League  win at Girona

We secured a top three finish in the Champions League ‘League’ phase with a win in Spain in our final game of the opening eight fixtures.

Here is Ian Mills’ latest Three Things We Learned series piece below:-

1 – Nwaneri keeps on getting better –

A first Champions League start and a first goal for our wonderfully gifted Hale End graduate with the man of the match award to boot.

He has now scored in every competition he has played in this campaign and took his overall goalscoring tally to six so far with a great strike which was bent into the bottom corner for what tuned out to the winner in this entertaining clash.

He has taken to the right-wing position with aplomb and already offers a genuine goal threat in every game he plays.

At 17 he is clearly only going to get better and what a great time all us Gooners are going to have watching him blossom into a major first team star.

2 – Impressive Champions League form offers a chance of silverware –

Whilst finishing in third place in the League format was great to see, our record from eight games was really good, with six wins, a draw and a single defeat.

We conceded only three times and kept five clean sheets in total. While some of our fixtures were not overly entertaining (a fair summation of quite a lot of games in this new format) our strong defence helped to see us over the line and is the foundation upon which our Champions League hopes are built this season.

3 – Loan players fail to shine once more –

When we were awarded our second penalty of the evening, I assumed that either Martin Odegaard or Kai Havertz would take the spot kick.

You would have got long odds on Raheem Sterling being most Gooners first choice, and I was not at all confident he would score.

As it turned out, it was a reasonable save (albeit a good height for the Girona goalkeeper) and the taker looked crestfallen.

Whatever his confidence levels before the penalty, they are certain to have nosedived further still.

While Sterling was struggling in attack, Neto was having a debut to forget in goal. Having been caught out way off his line for Girona’s goal he then inexplicably tried to save it while out of his area.

I accept he has warmed our bench all season so far which is never an easy thing to do, however it is to be hoped that the injury that kept David Raya of the matchday squad is not too serious and that he can return for the crucial with Manchester City at the weekend.

The bid for Ollie Watkins shows that the club have money to spend on them right type of forward – let’s hope can either sign him or someone else to help us score the goals we are going to need for the remainder of the season ahead.

As the UEFA Champions League draw approaches, all eyes are on Arsenal and their star player Raheem Sterling. However, Sterling has failed to shine in recent matches, leaving fans concerned about the team’s chances in the upcoming tournament.

Despite his impressive performances in the past, Sterling has struggled to find his form this season. His lackluster performances have been a cause for worry among Arsenal supporters, who were hoping for a standout player to lead the team to victory in the Champions League.

With the draw looming, Arsenal’s hopes for a successful campaign rest on Sterling’s ability to rediscover his best form. The team will need him at his best if they are to compete with the top clubs in Europe and make a deep run in the competition.

As the pressure mounts, all eyes will be on Sterling to deliver when it matters most. Only time will tell if he can rise to the occasion and help Arsenal achieve their Champions League dreams.

  • U.S. Figure Skating Championships: Amber Glenn, Ilia Malinin shine ahead of worlds, en route to 2026 Olympics

With the world figure skating championships in Boston at the end of March, the Americans are hoping to use their home ice advantage to find some spots on the podium. The U.S. worlds team was chosen during the U.S. national championships in Wichita over the weekend, but skaters weren’t just competing for a spot on the world team for Boston — they were also starting to put together their resume for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics next February, making this an incredibly important year for the national championships.

Here are the biggest takeaways from a dazzling competition.

Earlier this season, Glenn won every Grand Prix competition she entered, including the Grand Prix Final. With a winning streak like that, defending her national title would be easy, right? Well, this is figure skating, and nothing is easy or guaranteed.

After her short program landed her in third, Glenn fought through her free program, beautifully landing her triple Axel and recovering well from a fall late in the skate. It was not her best, but it was enough to win her second consecutive national championship, and a spot on the world team headed to Boston.

“Coming into these nationals, I wasn’t feeling my absolute best,” Glenn told reporters after her win. “Today being able to not fully lock in but for the most part get into the zone I needed to, and I’m very proud of my mental fortitude and the progress I’ve made.”

Alysa Liu becomes a thrilling comeback story at just 19 years old

After the 2022 season, where Liu took sixth at the Olympics and third at the world championships, she retired. Three seasons later, at the ripe old age of 19, Liu decided to return to the ice. Liu has always excelled as a jumper, and that hasn’t changed. What has changed is the joy she’s found on the ice this time around. Liu skated a memorable, emotional short program, and finished second overall. Three years later, she’s back on the world team.

“It feels really crazy to me,” she said. “I really didn’t have any expectations for myself placement wise, just program wise. It felt really good throughout this entire experience.”

Seventeen-year-old Isabeau Levito, who won silver at the 2024 Worlds, was the third member named to the team, pending return-to-play protocol. She missed the U.S. Championships with a foot injury.

Even those who aren’t the biggest fans of figure skating know about Madison Chock and Evan Bates. The ice dancing pair, who began skating together in 2011 and were married last summer, have been on every U.S. championships podium since 2013. Chock and Bates have been to three Olympics together, securing a gold medal in the team event in 2022. They won the last two world championships, too, and have shown no sign of slowing down. Their jazz-themed free skate brought down the house in Wichita. Expectations for the pair are high as they head into Boston.

They will be joined by ice dancers Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, and Caroline Green and Michael Parsons.

Alisa Efimova and Misha Mitrofanov haven’t been skating together long. Efimova, who previously skated for Russia, was looking for a new partner in 2023 when Mitrofanov sent her a message on Instagram. The tryout worked well, and they started training in Massachusetts. Just two years later, the two won the U.S. title and will lead the pairs delegation. Even better, they get to compete a short drive from their rink in Norwood, Massachussets.

“While growing up, I watched pairs and when I was skating singles, I never thought I would do pairs,” Mitrofanov said. “But when I switched, I would watch all the big names, and it was always a dream of mine to stand on the podium. It’s very surreal.”

Defending world champion Ilia Malinin again treated fans to a skate packed with quadruple jumps. During Sunday’s free skate, Malinin threw seven quad jumps, with a fall on one. The jumps included a quadruple Axel, a jump few will even attempt, much less land.

While his jumps are fantastic and rack up points, Malinin, 20, has shown consistent growth in how he’s managed the skating between his jumps. His artistry has started to catch up with his technical ability, making Malinin a terrifying opponent for his competitors in Boston.

“Looking back after that performance, I felt that it was a pretty good performance and I definitely have improved a lot since Grand Prix Final,” Malinin said. “I’m definitely very happy with all the progress that I made at this competition, but now I can use the time to take everything that I’ve learned from my performances and really try to develop them and get them as perfect as I can before Worlds.”

He will be joined in Boston by Andrew Torgashev, who took second on Sunday, and two-time Olympian Jason Brown, who won bronze in the team event in the 2014 Sochi Games. Like Levito, Brown missed nationals and will need to follow return-to-play protocol. Brown, 30, said he had been dealing with a series of challenges heading into nationals. If he cannot compete, Camden Pulkinen will take the spot as the first alternate. Pulkinen finished third in Wichita.

The U.S. Figure Skating Championships recently concluded with Amber Glenn and Ilia Malinin emerging as two of the brightest stars in the sport. With their impressive performances, both skaters have solidified their spots on the world stage and are now on their way to the 2026 Olympics.

Amber Glenn wowed the crowd with her technical skill and artistic flair, earning top scores in both the short program and free skate. Her graceful movements and powerful jumps showcased her dedication and talent, leaving no doubt that she is a force to be reckoned with in the figure skating world.

On the men’s side, Ilia Malinin proved to be a formidable competitor, delivering flawless performances and demonstrating his versatility on the ice. His precision and athleticism were on full display, earning him a well-deserved spot on the podium.

As both skaters look ahead to the upcoming world championships and ultimately the 2026 Olympics, they are sure to be ones to watch. With their determination and skill, Amber Glenn and Ilia Malinin are poised to make a lasting impact on the figure skating world and inspire a new generation of athletes.

  • Grand Rapids Griffins | Dominik Shine Signs Two-Year Contract With…

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Detroit Red Wings on Monday signed right wing Dominik Shine to a two-year contract for the remainder of this season and the 2025-26 campaign. The Grand Rapids Griffins subsequently released Shine from his AHL contract, and the veteran will report to the Red Wings today.

Shine is having a career year, as he is one point from tying his career best of 33 and is on pace to reach 58 (20-38—58) this season. The 31-year-old is also two assists from tying his career high of 23 (2023-24) and six goals from tying his career best of 17 (2021-22). He has already notched career-high totals in power-play goals (4), game-winners (3), and multi-point outings (8). On Jan. 18, Shine moved into a tie for 10th place on the team’s all-time goals scored list with his 72nd tally and is currently on a team-high five-game point streak (1-6—7). He also has 13 points (5-8—13) in his last 15 contests. Shine ranks first on the roster in points (11-21—32) and assists (21), tied for third in goals (11), and third in power-play goals (4) in 40 games.

The Detroit native has spent his entire career with Grand Rapids since 2016-17 and has accumulated 170 points (72-98—170) and 513 penalty minutes in 462 appearances. In the Griffins’ all-time rankings, Shine places third in games played, sixth in penalty minutes, tied for 10th in goals scored (72), tied for 10th in overtime goals (2), and tied for first in unassisted goals (10). Last year, he became just the third player in franchise history to reach eight seasons of service. On Nov. 10, 2023, Shine passed Mitch Callahan (2011-17) for third on the Griffins’ all-time games played list, as current assistant coach Brian Lashoff (2008-13; 2014-23) ranks second with 629 games played and Travis Richards (1996-2006) places first with 655 outings.

Prior to turning pro, Shine spent four seasons in the United States Hockey League with the Lincoln Stars from 2009-13, serving as captain from 2011-13. He then went on to compete for Northern Michigan University from 2013-17, where he was named to the WCHA Second All-Star Team in 2016 and the WCHA Third All-Star Team in 2017. Shine notched 97 points (48-49—97) in 131 collegiate games.

  • Shine cherishes ‘amazing’ NHL debut for Red Wings at age 31

DETROIT — Dominik Shine said he never thought this day would come. There was a point last season, his eighth in the American Hockey League, when he considered retiring from pro hockey. He was away from his family too much.

But the veteran forward realized it was special for his young son to see him play, so he thought he’d hang on for one more year and see what happened.

Well, here’s what happened: His son, at 21 months old, got to see him make his NHL debut at 31 years old for the Detroit Red Wings in a 5-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Little Caesars Arena on Monday.

Finally, it was time to Shine.

“I just can’t believe …” Shine said, his voice trailing off. “To be here today, it’s just … It’s amazing.”

Shine became the oldest skater to make his NHL debut since defenseman Evgeny Medvedev did it with the Philadelphia Flyers at 33 on Oct. 8, 2015, and the oldest Red Wings player to make his NHL debut since center Vaclav Nedomansky did it at 33 on Nov. 18, 1977.

“I feel everybody who knows him and has played with him is so happy for him right now,” said Red Wings forward Elmer Soderblom, who has played with Shine with Grand Rapids of the AHL the past three seasons. “It’s just a really heartwarming story to hear.”

Shine was born and raised in the Detroit area. He grew up watching the Red Wings, idolizing “Grind Line” guys like Kris Draper and Kirk Maltby, and playing for the Little Caesars youth hockey program.

After four seasons at Northern Michigan University, he joined Grand Rapids. His bio lists a series of tryouts and one-year contracts. He ground it out for 462 games, mentoring young players and trying to plant roots for his wife, Taylor, and their son, Cooper.

He has 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) in 40 games for Grand Rapids this season, on pace for AHL career highs. When the Red Wings needed help due to injury and illness, he got the call about 10:30 a.m. ET on Monday while driving Cooper to get him some ice skates. He signed a two-year contract with the Red Wings and reported to Detroit.

    “It was crazy,” he said.

Shine’s parents landed in Maui on Sunday for a Hawaiian vacation, so they couldn’t make it to the game Monday. But many friends and family members did. Shine saw his son against the glass during warmup and bumped fists with him as he was coming off the ice.

“To have him look at me and smile, I can’t put it into words,” he said.

Detroit Red Wings forward, Shine, made his NHL debut at the age of 31 and it was a moment he will never forget. Despite being a late bloomer in the hockey world, Shine’s hard work and determination finally paid off as he skated onto the ice for his first game in the big leagues.

“It was a dream come true,” Shine said after the game. “I’ve worked so hard for this moment and to finally be out there with my teammates, wearing the Red Wings jersey, it was just amazing.”

Shine’s debut was a memorable one, as he scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks. His performance caught the attention of fans and teammates alike, who were impressed by his skill and composure on the ice.

“Shine was unbelievable out there,” said Red Wings captain, Dylan Larkin. “To see him come in and make an impact like that in his first game, it’s truly inspiring. He’s a great addition to our team and I can’t wait to see what else he can do.”

Shine’s journey to the NHL may have been a long and challenging one, but his perseverance and dedication have finally paid off. As he continues to shine on the ice, there’s no doubt that his debut will be a moment that he will cherish for the rest of his career.
