  • Nvidia Issues RTX 5090 and 5080 Stock Shortage Warning to PC Gamers Ahead of Hotly Anticipated Release Date

The Nvidia RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 launch is just around the corner, with both high-end GPUs due to be released on January 30. However, several reports from retailers and brands alike have stoked fears of shortages of both cards ahead of their release date.

With hopeful buyers already camping outside stores to get one of the coveted GPUs, Nvidia’s RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are poised to be two of the most coveted graphics cards ever released, despite their $1,999 and $999 pricetags.

Manufacturer MSI (via WCCFTech) said the new GPUs will be in short supply due to the Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year. This will affect the first wave of GPUs, with stock expected to stabilize throughout February and beyond.

Several retailers have also spoken out regarding the supply of the RTX 5090 specifically, with Overclockers UK claiming it has only received “single digits at present.” Last week it said it only had a “few hundred” RTX 5080 GPUs for launch. This stock difficulty was corroborated by U.S. retailer PowerGPU, which tweeted: “The launch of the RTX 5090 will be the worst when it comes to availability.”

To quell the fears circulating online, Nvidia representative Tim@Nvidia posted a statement titled “GeForce RTX 50 Series Availability” on the company’s official forum. It reads:

“We expect significant demand for the GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 and believe stock-outs may happen. Nvidia and our partners are shipping more stock to retail every day to help get GPUs into the hands of gamers.”

With fears of limited stock rising, scalpers are poised to cash-in, with several listings for RTX 5090 GPUs already on eBay as “pre-sale.” One such listing showcases an Asus ROG Astral RTX 5090 as being available to order from a collectibles reseller for an eye-watering $5,750, an 187% increase over the original MSRP for the already expensive $1,999 card.

Nvidia may have a different kind of stock to prioritize this week, even amid the new launch of its latest consumer GPUs. The company’s share price tumbled by 16.86% on Monday following the emergence of Chinese AI model DeepSeek, whose claims of being trained for just $6 million puts Nvidia’s datacenter GPU sales prospects at risk.

  • “They Should Be Banned From Using It” Celebrities Slam Diabetics For Ozempic Shortage – Waterford Whispers News

PEOPLE taking Ozempic to treat diabetes have been labelled ‘selfish’ with no regard for the wealthy after huge shortages of the weight loss drug were announced forcing many celebrities to speak out against improper use.

An outright ban on diabetics receiving the drug is now being called by some major eye-sunken Hollywood stars who look like shadows of their former selves.

“Have these people no shame? Why don’t they just fuck off and die?” asked British television personality, music manager and author Sharon Osborne.

With reports that supplies of Ozempic are still getting into the hands of diabetics via the black market, stars like Khloe Kardashian and Elon Musk are calling for huge fines to be implemented on those selling the drug to people who don’t need it for cosmetic reasons.

“What are we supposed to do? Eat healthy, do more exercise? No one’s got time for that!” Khloe Kardashian told her vast social media following yesterday in a heart wrenching before and after image post of her weighing scales depicting her weight gain from 59 kilos to 62 in just a matter of months, adding, “selfish diabetics have no idea the damage they’re causing people who actually need the drug to look good.”

Meanwhile, the tabloid media has denied glorifying the drug for use in treating diabetes and has vowed to focus more on emphasising the importance of getting it to those who need it.

We design & sell funny t-shirts, mugs, hoodies and more to help keep the lights on. Check them out here www.waterfordwhispers.shop

Diabetes is a serious medical condition that affects millions of people around the world. For those who require medication to manage their diabetes, such as Ozempic, the recent shortage of the drug has been causing major concerns. However, instead of showing empathy and understanding towards those affected, some celebrities have decided to slam diabetics for the shortage.

In a recent interview, several high-profile celebrities were quoted as saying that diabetics should be banned from using Ozempic because they are causing the shortage for everyone else. One celebrity even went so far as to say that diabetics should just “suck it up” and find an alternative medication.

This kind of attitude towards individuals struggling with a serious health condition is not only insensitive but also harmful. Diabetes is a chronic illness that requires constant management and monitoring, and medication shortages can have serious consequences for those affected.

Instead of blaming diabetics for the shortage of Ozempic, we should be focusing on finding solutions to ensure that everyone who needs the medication has access to it. It’s time for these celebrities to educate themselves on the realities of living with diabetes and show some compassion towards those who are struggling.

  • Las Vegas shoppers feeling effects of egg shortage, higher prices

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Shoppers across the country are suffering sticker shock over the price of eggs as an ongoing bird flu epidemic has forced farmers to kill millions of egg-laying hens, leading to a serious shortage.

“Normally what I do is pay $4.99 for a dozen pasture-raised eggs. I went into Sprouts and there’s nothing left,” a local shopper told 8 News Now.

A nationwide crisis has hit the Las Vegas valley as shoppers scramble to find eggs with the lack of supply not meeting the demand. When shoppers are able to find a carton or two, the prices are beyond outrageous.

“I saw in the paper, it was $3.69, but when you get to the store, it’s like $14 dollars,” Smith’s shopper, Cheryl Martin shared.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the egg shortage is due to the ongoing bird flu. The virus killed more than 17 million egg-laying hens in November and December, according to CBS News. Egg prices on average are 38% higher now than this time last year.

In addition, typical egg production slowed down in the wintertime as hens lay about half as much during the colder months.

As of Sunday, Albertson’s had a limited supply of eggs whereas stores like Walmart and Dollar General Market had plenty in stock. The prices, however, are still too high for some shoppers.

“This carton of 12 is like $8 or $9 bucks, which is almost like a dollar an egg, it’s crazy. If it goes any higher, we will probably stop eating eggs in general. There is no need,” Walmart shopper, Dalyn Burns shared.

As for how long the egg shortage may last? Time will tell, but egg producers are calling on lawmakers to develop and administer vaccines to the nation’s chicken and bird population to battle the bird flu.

Many retailers like Smith’s are asking consumers to limit their purchases to two cartons per customer.

In recent weeks, shoppers in Las Vegas have been feeling the effects of an egg shortage and higher prices at grocery stores across the city. The shortage is due to a combination of factors, including increased demand for eggs during the holiday season and disruptions in the supply chain.

As a result, many shoppers have been forced to pay higher prices for eggs, with some stores charging as much as double the usual price. This has left many consumers feeling frustrated and concerned about the impact on their grocery budgets.

Some shoppers have even reported difficulty finding eggs at all, with shelves empty or stores limiting the number of cartons each customer can purchase. This has led to increased competition for the limited supply of eggs available, further driving up prices.

As the egg shortage continues to impact shoppers in Las Vegas, many are hoping for a resolution soon so they can once again enjoy this staple food at an affordable price. In the meantime, consumers are advised to shop around for the best deals and consider alternative sources of protein to help offset the impact of the shortage.

  • ‘Cage-free’ eggs driving shortage around US, but there is good news, says expert

Americans around the United States are heading to grocery stores and noticing that many egg shelves are nearly empty or empty, period.

“You can’t get eggs anywhere, I mean anywhere,” Fox News host Jesse Watters said on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Wednesday evening, Jan. 22. “I can only get the bad ones that just are not yellow and aren’t fluffy.”

In New Jersey, said Watters, “you just can’t get the good, pasture-raised, nice, organic eggs.”

EGG PRICES MAY SOON BE ON THE RISE, SAYS EXPERT – HERE’S WHY AND HOW MUCH

“So Donald Trump, before you settle the drone issue, we need eggs,” said Watters. “And we need them fast.” (See the video at the top of this article.)

Eggs are indeed in short supply and Watters’ favorite pasture-raised eggs are even harder to find.

“The national egg supply has been strained due to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza — also known as HPAI or bird flu — which is devastating to egg farmers,” Emily Metz, president and CEO of the Chicago-based American Egg Board, said in a statement provided to Fox News Digital.

The nonprofit organization provides resources for “national category-level egg marketing,” according to its website.

DOES THE COLOR OF AN EGG’S YOLK MEAN ANYTHING?

The U.S. alone lost more than 40 million laying hens to bird flu in 2024, said Metz.

While the entire country is experiencing egg shortages to some degree, Metz said it is worse in states with laws requiring that grocery store eggs be “cage-free.”

Hens that are “cage-free” have been disproportionally hit by the bird flu.  (iStock)

The states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, Oregon and Washington all have this legislation, according to CageFreeLaws.com, which tracks cage-free legislation by state.

“Supply disruptions may be more pronounced [among] retailers and in states that exclusively sell cage-free eggs due to impacts from HPAI on cage-free farms, which were disproportionately affected late last year,” Metz told Fox News Digital.

WHY HARDBOILED EGGS AND 4 OTHER FOODS SHOULD NOT BE REHEATED IN THE MICROWAVE

About 40% of laying hens in the U.S. are “cage-free,” she said.

Of birds lost to bird flu, more than half of these birds are cage-free, Metz added. “It’s important to know that bird flu does not discriminate based on farm size or housing environment. The disease is carried by wild birds,” she said.

Once a laying hen tests positive for bird flu, the entire flock is culled to prevent spread, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“It’s important to know that bird flu does not discriminate based on farm size or housing environment.”

“When an egg farm is impacted with HPAI, it must go through multiple steps with government approvals before it can repopulate new flocks, a necessary process that can take six months to a year,” further adding to the supply issues, Metz said.

Egg production, she said, is “both complex and time sensitive,” she said.

The U.S. egg supply has also been impacted by increased demand during the winter holidays. (iStock)

“What we know right now is that our system is strained — and HPAI remains a clear and present risk to poultry flocks,” Metz said.

Also impacting the U.S. egg supply is increased demand.

“The volume of eggs sold at retail has been up year-over-year for 22 consecutive months, and we’re just coming out of the highest demand season of the year — the winter holidays — when egg sales increase significantly due to holiday baking and entertaining,” Metz said.

“The good news is that egg farmers have a lot of experience working together to move eggs across the country to where they’re needed most.”

Despite these challenges, Metz said there is reason to be hopeful for the future.

“The good news is that egg farmers have a lot of experience working together to move eggs across the country to where they’re needed most — and that’s exactly what they’re doing now,” she said.

“Keeping their birds safe and healthy is every egg farmer’s top priority, and they are working around the clock to protect their birds, replenish supply and keep those eggs coming.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Costco for comment, where customers have noticed recent egg shortages. Many local grocery stores across the country also have seen supplies shrink and prices rise.

The demand for cage-free eggs has been on the rise in the United States, leading to a shortage in many areas. However, according to experts, there is good news on the horizon.

As consumers become more conscious of animal welfare and the environmental impact of egg production, many are opting for cage-free eggs over traditional eggs laid by hens in cramped cages. This shift in consumer preference has put pressure on egg suppliers to increase their cage-free egg production.

The shortage of cage-free eggs has caused prices to rise and some retailers to limit the number of cartons customers can purchase. However, experts believe that this temporary shortage is a sign of progress in the egg industry.

With more consumers choosing cage-free eggs, egg producers are investing in new facilities and converting existing ones to meet the growing demand. This increased production capacity is expected to alleviate the shortage and ensure a steady supply of cage-free eggs in the future.

So while there may be some short-term challenges in finding cage-free eggs, the overall outlook is positive. As more consumers support cage-free egg production, the industry will continue to evolve and adapt to meet the changing demands of the market.

More than 770,000 people were living in shelters or outside in January, according to an annual federal report on homelessness by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The number is up 18% from last year’s count — which had also jumped from the year before — and is the largest number since HUD started doing this report in 2007.

HUD released its report Friday, based on the January “point-in-time” survey in cities around the country. The results punctuated a trend advocates for homeless people and affordable housing have been highlighting.

“A lot of families, a lot of households, a lot of individuals are still struggling. I think we’re still in — for deeply poor people — a real recovery from the pandemic,” says Jeff Olivet, who until recently was executive director of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness.

He says homelessness has been rising since 2017, driven by a massive shortage of affordable housing that’s pushed prices up. Research finds that where rents go up, so does homelessness. That rise stalled during the pandemic, Olivet notes, when sweeping federal aid helped keep people housed. But since that help ended, people still face higher prices for housing, food, and other everyday goods.

HUD officials say another key factor was the recent increase in asylum seekers coming to the U.S., often fleeing dangerous conditions in their home countries. In 13 communities that reported being affected by migration, family homelessness more than doubled. Overall, it was up 39%.

There was also an increase in the number of people overall living outside – that is, not in shelters; those considered chronically homeless; and unaccompanied youth. One bright spot was a decline in the number of unhoused veterans. This year that actually fell to a record low, after years of intense investment in subsidized housing and support services.

The report also says extreme weather disasters contributed to the rise, and specifically cites last year’s fire in Maui that had left 5,200 people still in shelters during the January count.

The annual report is widely considered an undercount, and does not include people crowding in with family or friends because they can no longer pay rent.

HUD says the numbers in some places are likely down since this count was made

Despite the nearly across-the-board surge in homelessness, HUD and others say there’s reason to believe the numbers in some places have come down since the count in January.

For one thing, President Biden took action in June to limit asylum claims and cap illegal border crossings. Since then, Denver, Chicago and New York — who’d been overwhelmed with asylum seekers — reported a sharp drop in migrants in shelters.

The rent spikes of recent years have also slowed, with rents nearly flat or even down in some cities. And some places that had years of rising homelessness numbers saw a turnaround this year, including Phoenix, Los Angeles and Dallas.

“What that says is that, if we keep investing the right way in getting people off the streets and into housing as quickly as possible, we really can see those numbers go down,” Olivet says.

Housing costs have risen with inflation, interest rates and a tight construction labor pool. The Biden administration has nudged cities to loosen zoning rules that restrict apartments and other more affordable housing. It also boosted spending on housing vouchers and other subsidies specifically for homeless people. But there’s also been growing opposition to that kind of spending, including among allies of President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump has called for a different approach to homelessness

The report comes amid growing public frustration with homelessness, and a wave of states and cities making it a crime to sleep outside in public spaces. President-elect Trump supports these bans on so-called street camping and a landmark Supreme Court decision this year allowed cities to enforce them even if people have nowhere else to go. Since then, more people are getting citations or even facing arrest.

Trump allies also want to shift billions in federal homelessness funding away from housing and toward requiring treatment for drug addiction or mental illness. He’s also talked of putting people into “mental institutions.”

Housing advocates including Olivet, worry camping bans and funding changes will only make the problem worse. But “what we need is investment in a range of solutions for people,” he says. “We need all of the above. It’s not an either or way of thinking that’s going to solve this.”

Elon Musk combats anti-immigration sentiment in posts decrying ‘dire shortage’ of tech talent

Billionaire businessman and recently appointed government cost-cutter Elon Musk called for increased immigration of high-skilled foreign workers to the U.S. in several social media posts combating immigration restrictionists.

In a post on X, Musk decried a “permanent shortage of excellent engineering talent” in America, calling it the “fundamental limiting factor in Silicon Valley.” Mario Nawfal, a businessman and influencer on X, quoted Musk’s post and said the U.S. semiconductor industry alone needs more than 160,000 engineers by 2032, citing McKinsey & Company.

“No, we need more like double that number yesterday!” Musk replied. “The number of people who are super talented engineers AND super motivated in the USA is far too low.”

Musk then drew an analogy between the U.S. economy and a pro sports team. “If you want your TEAM to win the championship, you need to recruit top talent wherever they may be,” he wrote.

His argument provoked backlash from immigration restrictionists, who replied that tech companies should look to the 330 million people in America for top talent instead of calling for more foreign workers to immigrate to the U.S.

“Your understanding of the situation is upside-down and backwards,” Musk said in response to a user who demanded to know why he would deny job opportunities to Americans.

“OF COURSE my companies and I would prefer to hire Americans and we DO, as that is MUCH easier than going through the incredibly painful and slow work visa process.”

“HOWEVER, there is a dire shortage of extremely talented and motivated engineers in America,” Musk explained.

“If you force the world’s best talent to play for the other side, America will LOSE. End of story.”

His comments come as some immigration hardliners have voiced opposition to President-elect Trump’s appointment of Indian-American venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan to an advisory position for artificial intelligence (AI) in the incoming administration. Krishnan had previously urged Musk, who is close to Trump and who will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), to persuade the president to remove caps on green cards for highly-skilled workers born in foreign countries.

“Anything to remove country caps for green cards / unlock skilled immigration would be huge,” Krishnan wrote on X. In another post, he added, “simple logic – we need the best, regardless of where they happen to be born (another bizarre quirk – the country cap is where you were born, not even citizenship).”

David Sacks, who Trump tapped as White House AI and cryptocurrency czar, defended Krishnan’s view in an X post this week.

“Sriram still supports skills-based criteria for receiving a green card, not making the program unlimited. In fact, he wants to make the program entirely merit-based,” Sacks wrote in part of his post.

    “Makes sense,” Musk replied.

FOX Business’ Alex Nitzberg contributed to this report.

Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of companies like SpaceX and Tesla, is not one to shy away from controversial topics. In a series of recent posts on social media, Musk has been combating anti-immigration sentiment by decrying what he calls a “dire shortage” of tech talent in the United States.

Musk, who himself immigrated to the US from South Africa, has long been an advocate for skilled immigration and has spoken out against restrictive immigration policies that he believes hinder the country’s ability to attract top talent from around the world.

In his posts, Musk has highlighted the importance of immigration in driving innovation and economic growth, particularly in the tech industry. He has argued that the US needs to be more welcoming to immigrants with technical skills in order to remain competitive on the global stage.

Musk’s stance on immigration has drawn both praise and criticism, with some applauding his efforts to combat anti-immigrant sentiment and others accusing him of promoting open borders. Regardless of where one stands on the issue, Musk’s outspoken advocacy for skilled immigration is likely to continue to spark debate and discussion in the tech community and beyond.
